Turn out to be a big, I don't know what.
Give me the news I really should do.
Let's get to the good doctor on Sports Talk 790.
How does Southwest Florida feel about Ryan Fitzpatrick no longer starting for the Miami Dolphins?
I think everybody's a little shocked.
I've got to be honest with you.
It's not like we didn't expect to it to be the starting quarterback at some point,
but maybe it was after Fitz who was going to have one of his usual, you know,
four interception, two pumble games, but he's been pretty good this year.
So I think it was not that it happened, but it was bad timing.
All right.
Let's get to what's happening on this week's slate of the NFL.
First, we'll go Thursday night football Giants against the Eagles.
We throw the records out when it comes to our fantasy football.
Who is sitting and who is playing this week?
I'm trying to decide what's a bigger train wreck, the Thursday night game of the debate.
It could be both.
I'll tell you.
I'm telling you.
I'm thinking for the Eagles, we're going to go with Boston Scott.
and then we're going to get a little bit nervous there because I don't like anybody else.
For the Giants, I can live with Evan Angram because the Eagles have been very generous to tight ends.
Outside of both those, and then maybe the Eagles defense, I think the Eagles defense is a good start.
Outside of those three things, I wouldn't even touch this game.
All right.
Now, to the better and sex your games on Sunday.
Travis Henry, my goodness.
Derek Henry, excuse me.
Travis is good, too, but Derek's really, really, really good.
Can the Steeler defense slow him down at all?
Or is this, I mean, you're going to play him every week regardless,
but for the fantasy folks,
that he just went ape crazy against the Texans this past Sunday.
Well, I mean, look, he exposed the Texans who have a terrible run defense.
And it's just a bad matchup.
I mean, the Texans did a great job.
I think they kept the game as close as they could.
But you're not going to, you can't stop Derek Henry.
You're not going to win that game.
Steelers have a better chance of stopping Derek Henry.
So, I mean, the thing that people don't realize is that Ryan Tannehill is a really,
really underrated players. He's been sensational.
So you've got Henry, you've got A.J. Brown.
You've got Tannahill who are all playable for the Titans.
But for the Steelers, you've got Deontay Johnson back.
You've got Chase Claypool, who's been unstoppable.
You've got James Connor.
I think Ben Rothusberger has a great week this week.
So I think the Steelers are going to expose the Titans' week secondary,
which is what the Texans did last week.
I just think the Steelers are just a better team.
How bad had things gotten for the skill players for the Dallas Cowboys?
with Andy Dalton a quarterback.
Well, look, I mean, we thought there was going to be a drop-off between Dak and Andy
Dahl, and we didn't expect what we saw him, and that was one off a cliff.
Look, Dalton can't play any worse.
I don't think it's possible.
Washington's going to put pressure on him, but Dahlton's got to stay in there and make the
place.
I mean, he's got as good as skilled group as there is in the NFL.
I mean, you've got to find CD land.
You've got to find Cooper.
People want to drop Michael Gallup right now.
I mean, I've got people sending me tweets that they want to get rid of Zekeel Elliott.
yet let's not panic after one game.
If it's two or three games, then it's time to panic.
Josh Allen and the bills have come down to Earth a little bit.
Are they slowing down fantasy-wise as well?
Maybe so, but when you play the Jets, it's a get-well game.
So, I mean, I think you want to get Allen in your lineup,
you want to get Steph on Diggs in your lineup,
you want to get Singletarian your lineup.
I mean, picking on Adam Gase is the Vegas Sharps are loving that move right now
because the Jets are terrible.
Maybe with Sam Darnold back, maybe they could put up.
14 points, but with Joe Flacco, maybe like six.
All right. Browns and the Bengals play.
Numerous Brown players, despite a four-and-two record, yeah, they got beat badly by Pittsburgh
last week, but they feel like they're 0-and-6.
How are they performing? Are they performing like a four-and-two fantasy football team?
I mean, look, what they do, they do well. And when Nick Chubb was there, they ran Kevin's
defense's offense. I don't want to say to perfection, but they ran it pretty darn well.
They ran the ball and they did some play action passing.
When you lose Nick Chubb and you lose a guy who's getting 20 touches a game,
now you've got to throw the ball more.
Well, when you start throwing the ball more, you're exposing Baker Mayfield,
who really wasn't worth the number one overall pick.
I mean, there were times I like Baker Mayfield,
but I don't think he's really that good to be quite honest with you.
Plus, you got Jarvis Landry, who's not 100%.
You got a disgruntled O'Dell Beckham.
I really think the two good plays for the Browns in this game are Austin Hooper and Kareemunt.
Those are two good plays.
For the Bengals, I really like T. Higgins.
I really like Tyler Boyd.
The Browns don't normally cover the slot receivers very well.
Boyd should have a good week.
With the Falcons won in their first game last week at Minnesota,
have they warmed up fantasy-wise for folks?
I mean, you'd have to hope so.
I think this is a really good week from Matt Ryan,
obviously for Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
I'll give you two players, though, that people are probably overlooking.
Todd Gurley, I mean, the Lions have a terrible run defense.
So Todd Gurley should have a good week this week.
He wasn't great last week.
I think he rebounds.
And the lions are notoriously bad against slot receivers.
I mean, look at what the Keel and Cole had like 140 yards against him last week.
Russell Gates could have 80 yards in a touchdown this week.
All right, a couple of the daytime games.
Niners are the Patriots.
New England has really cooled off offensively.
The Niners got their mojo back after beating the Rams this past week.
So where are we on both these teams that they play in New England this Sunday?
Yeah, this game may rival the Giants and Eagles for poor games.
I don't like any fantasy players in this game.
I really don't worry.
He moistered, who I normally like is on the IR.
You're going to see a little jerk McKinnon, but I think the Patriots are going to stop him.
Kittle, you know, you know that Bill Belichick is going to do whatever he can to make sure that Kittle doesn't beat them.
And then Cam Newton is just, honestly, take away Cam's running ability.
Ask yourself this question.
If Cam didn't run, would he be a bottom five-quarter?
back in terms of passing. I think he would. So Julian Adam is almost unplayable right now in fantasy.
Is there anybody in the receiving Corps worth playing from them?
I really, nobody from me, honestly. Okay. One more. Buccaneers at the Raiders.
Boy, Tampa Bay just ran up and down against Green Bay's defense, which we're kind of looking
forward to seeing here firsthand in Houston over the weekend. Is there any thought of a potential
letdown traveling across the country playing the Raiders who play very well in law?
Vegas, and the Bucks could be due for maybe a natural letdown after that big win against Green Bay.
You know, you might think so, but Tom Brady's there, and he's not going to let that happen,
and they've had some letdown games already this year, so I'm not sure we're going to see one here.
I'll say this.
This is a bad matchup for the Raiders, because the Raiders want to run the ball with Josh Jacobs,
and the Bucs have one of the top-run defenses in the NFL.
The other problem is that Chris Godwin, who's back and looking a lot better,
there's a complete mismatch with a Lamarckers' joiners, one of the worst slot corners.
NFL. So when you can take away what the other team wants to do and your best player is a mismatch
against the Raiders, I think the Bucks are going to win this one pretty convincingly.
All right. Let's get some questions. And if you got anything you want to ask Dr. Roto, do so now.
713-213-212-5-790. 7-190. 7-1-2-790 questions for Dr. Roto. We'll come back.
We'll go over the Sunday night, Monday night game, the Texans and Packers, and take any questions
you may have on the phones and certainly on Twitter at SportsMT. 144 on
Sports Talk 790 with a word here for bronze roofing.
Good gracious.
Good gracious.
You're listening to the Matt Thomas show on Sports Talk 790.
Another second with Dr. Roto right now.
If you've got a question about your fantasy team, get it in at 713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
If you want to tweet at me, it's at SportsMT and at Dr. Roto.
Bears Rams, Roto, sounds like really good defense against a pretty explosive offense,
although the Rams are kind of held in check last week.
What do you think about this matchup?
You know, the Bears are pretty darn good defense.
They're not winning games with their offense.
Nick Bowles, David Montgomery looks like he's running in quicksand.
Even Allen Robinson couldn't do much last week.
Robinson's going to see Jalen Ramsey again.
So it's going to be a tough game.
The Bears are going to have to play great defense.
And the Rams are one of those frustrating teams where some weeks they've
put up 40 in some weeks. They just can't seem to get it done.
So I don't know. I think the Rams should pull this one out.
You know, in terms of the running backs between Henderson and Brown and acres,
you don't even know who to start. I'll tell you who to start.
You start Cooper Cup and you start Robert Woods.
And then after that, it's all potluck.
All right. Let's get to Green Bay in Houston.
The Texans back-to-back weeks of 30-plus points.
So that means I would think that you can go go pretty deep in your receiving core
for fantasy players.
question is, even though David Johnson is rushing less than four yards of carry, he is fine in
the end zone once a week. It feels like the last couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Green Bay,
really, Aaron had a terrible game with a bunch of pick sixes. So who is sitting and who is
playing among these two teams? I mean, look, the overrunner on this game is 57. So Vegas is
loving the points here. So last week, David Bakhtiari got injured and Aaron Rogers was frustrated.
And it got ugly. I hate to say it, but he's going to feast this week. He is. I mean, I want to start Aaron Rogers. I want to start Devante Adams. I want to start Aaron Jones. I mean, he's not Derek Henry, but he's going to run for 100 yards in a touchdown for sure. I think so those guys are must. In terms of the Texans, you know, this is David Johnson. It should be a David Johnson week, right? I mean, we want to see this guy get that 100 yards in a touchdown. If it doesn't happen this week, there are big question marks. I like Brandon Cooks again this week. I think the guy who actually don't.
like, I like him in seasonal, but not if you're going to play daily fantasy sports, is Will Fuller.
He's going to see Jair Alexander, who right now may be the best cover cornerback in the NFL.
And I think Fuller has a down game.
So the Texans, if they want to compete, they're going to have to figure out how to do it without
using Will Fuller, who's going to be negated.
All right, let's get some phone calls for Dr. Roto.
We'll start with Sam and downtown at 152.
Sam, you're on with Roto.
Go ahead, please.
Hey, Dr. Roto.
I have a question.
I have Tyler Lockett and Tyree Killed.
both have been kind of shaky these last two weeks, especially Lockett.
And I picked up T. Higgins on the waiver.
Should I start Higgins this week over Lockett just on how bad that Brown defense is?
I can live with that.
I'm never benching Tyree Kill, and I think Mahomes is going to have an explosive week because
he's been pretty quiet the last couple of weeks.
So I don't want to bench Hill.
But I can bench Lockett for Higgins.
Higgins has been a pretty darn good player.
He's getting a ton of targets in that offense.
All right.
Let's go to Allen and Spring on 790.
Go ahead, Alan.
Yes, Dr. Roto.
I have a question.
I had David Johnson, but I picked up Justin Jackson.
See, should I play there?
Or Higby or Fault as my tied-ins.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if you can play Fent yet because Fenn is still injured,
so we don't know if he's going to play, so I guess you'd have to play Higby.
I'm playing David Johnson.
This is a great matchup for him.
I mean, this is the opportunity of Green Bay Packers.
Did you have Ronald Jones did?
I mean, Ronald Jones is just not a great running back.
So I think Johnson should have his best week of the season.
All right, so Miles Sanders against is going to be out in tonight's game from what I understand, right?
So I went and picked up his backup.
How do you generally feel about guys that just are partial ball carriers just to kind of take the edge off the league guys and then put him in a prime spot?
I think what's the backup's name in Philadelphia?
Boston Scott.
Look, last year, week 17, Boston Scott went crazy.
He had like over 130 yards and two touchdowns against a giant.
This guy's legit.
The thing was when Sanders was injured early in the year, Boston Scott got injured too.
So he wasn't that explosive.
So I think people were let down by him.
Boston Scott coming into this year, people regarded him very highly in PPR format.
So I think you're going to see the real Boston Scott tonight.
All right.
Montgomery, White, Kirk, and Green, which two of those four will start today for the Orlando's football team here?
Not Orlando the football team, but Orlando the listener.
Yeah, I'm going to start.
but Kristen Kirk for sure.
I think he's playing very well.
That should be a high-scoring game.
I don't really like Montgomery this week.
Who are the other two?
Who was Green and who was the other one?
Let me pull it up here.
Montgomery, White, Kirk, and Green.
I mean, I can make an argument for James White.
He's fine, but I mean, I think Green is trying to get traded.
And if he's trying to get traded, he's actually going to play hard like he did last week.
I may start AJ Green.
Speaking of that and trying to get traded,
is Odell Beckham Jr. going to play hard this week?
Look, there are a lot of discred.
some guys out there. And I'm not sure you could ever make Beckham happy, but you certainly can't
make him happy with Baker Mayfield in a run-first offense. How is that ever going to work? It's not.
I think that there are guys out there right now, like, you know, Antonio Brown coming back.
If he's playing for a ring, he signs with Seattle and shuts his mouth and plays football.
If he's coming back to the money, then he goes elsewhere where he'll get a ton of targets.
Levy on Bell signed with the Chiefs. He wants to win. So I think the question with Beckham is,
You want to win or you want to be a pain in the butt.
Before I let you go, we ask you one person, sometimes two,
that will absolutely crush in fantasy football this week.
These players we speak of are affectionately known as Dr. Roto's lock and or locks of the week.
I've got two locks this week, and they're both wide receivers.
The first is Kenny Goladay going up against the Atlanta Falcons secondary.
That's a complete mismatch there.
I really like Galdi.
And I really like Terry McLaurin.
I mean, the Cowboys cannot stop anybody.
McLaurin went 7 for 74 against James Bradbury,
and Bradbury's been a shutdown corner all year.
So, I mean, the Cowboys, once again,
you always want to pick on the bad secondaries.
So Goladay and McClorn are the locks the week.
And there you go.
That's from Dr. Roto and his locks of the week.
Good doctor.
Where can people find you over the next handful of days?
You can find me at sI.com backslash fantasy,
and you can find me at Twitter at DRROTO.
Great stuff, as always.
