We bring to you the wildly respected Dr. Roto on Sports Talk 790 in our second decade.
Dr. Roto, how are things?
Things are great.
MT.
Ready to go.
It's a tough week, really, between bi-weeks and between the injuries, all these injuries at running back, especially.
We just got to scrape through, but there are some players I really like and I want to tell people about.
So I'm looking forward to it.
All right.
We'll take your phone calls in the next segment of the show.
If you want to get on a waiting list, you may do so.
It's 713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90.
First and foremost, we don't ever like to...
I like to hold off on the Texan stuff,
but since there are so many injuries in this Baltimore situation,
first of all, who are we playing on the skill position side for the Ravens,
now that Lamar Jackson did not practice again today?
The perception is he's not going to play.
And how does that affect with all the day?
defensive injuries of Raven have, maybe thrown in a few extra Texans scope position players.
Yeah, I think the Texans are really interesting this week. Why not? I mean, C.J. Stroud,
interesting. Woody Marks, we talked about Woody Marks. Finally, right? He finally got the football.
Let's do more Woody Marks, please. Love Nico Collins. And my real favorite player of the week is
Dalton Schultz. The Ravens are epically bad against tight ends. Schultz, to me, really is the second target here.
No Christian Kirk is evolving.
But, I mean, this should be a field day for Schultz where maybe 60 yards and a touchdown.
But you've got to think that the Texans have a real good shot here against Baltimore with Cooper rush in.
It's kind of a mess.
Obviously, you're going to start Derek Henry.
You're obviously going to start Zay Flowers and probably Mark Andrews and that's it.
All right.
There you go on that.
So if you got Texans or Ravens players, that's where Dr. Roto has you.
We've got a quarterback change in Cleveland that helped them out this week on the road in London against Minnesota.
Minnesota. No, but I think Joe Flacco would have gotten killed too. I mean, Flacco just has no more mobility
anymore. I think he's best served as a guy who if there's an injury, you can play him for three weeks,
and that's about it. Here's what we know about Dylan Gabriel. It's got a really fast release,
and he played at Oregon, and he's a, you know, I mean, so he's been in the big games before,
but he's got a very quick release, and he's going to need that quick release against Minnesota's
pass rush. So take a look. I mean, Quinn Sean Judkins is a must play. I don't
care how good the Vikings defense is. Judkins is a great player. Jerry Judy's in play. David
Adjoku is fine. Keep your eyes on Isaiah Bond. I really believe had he not had all that stuff
with him in college, he probably would have been a round two pick. So they were able to sign him
pretty much after the draft was over as an undrafted free agent. I think that he's going to
emerge, especially because Cedric Tillman is out with a hamstring injury. They're going to need a
second receiver. And I think that second receiver is Bond. All right. Let's go.
to Cincinnati. They don't score touchdowns
anymore. So if I've
and I do have T. Higgins.
Jamar Chase, there's plenty of
positional players there for Bengals
have used. How bad is that offensive
situation there in the Natty?
Look, I think the
only thing we have going for us
this week, if you have anybody on Cincinnati,
is that Detroit tends
to get into high scoring games. Right? Detroit's
defense is better, but if they're
weak anywhere, it's in the secondary.
Jake Browning is
not as bad as he's looked. He's just played two really good defenses. I think they've got to figure
out a way to get Chase involved. They have to figure out a way to get T. Higgins involved. Look,
Zach Taylor, they could go get Russell Wilson. They can go get guys. He wants to stay with Jake
Browning. He believes in him. I think we've got to give Cincinnati one more week this week.
I just don't really like Chase Brown that much because Detroit's run defense is very good. On the other
side. Listen, Jamir Gibbs, we know as a superstar. We get that. Amal Ross St. Brown is in a great
spot. I think David Montgomery scores. He didn't do it last week. It's one of those things where,
oh, the guy disappointed me one week, but he plays better than next. I think Montgomery scores this
week. All right. Kansas City put it together last week and their best offensive performance
against that Baltimore team. Can they do it two weeks in a row Monday night at Jacksonville?
I think they can. I think Xavier Worthy being back is huge. This way, you're using Hollywood
Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster as needed, right? Because you have your number one guy. You have
Travis Kelsey. Mahomes, I think, is a great play this week. If you have Mahomes, I know that Jacksonville
has done a good job with takeaways, but I'm not really worried about that here. Mahomes is too
smart for that. Keep your eye on a guy named Breschard Smith, okay? Isaiah Pacheco is not good.
Cream Hunt is not good. Breschard Smith is getting more snaps. And I think that's what you have to
look at here. So in week two, we had five snaps.
in week three at eight, last week against Baltimore, 19, right?
What does that tell you?
Tells you that they're going to try to get him the ball more.
He is the guy.
If you need a running back and you want to stash somebody in your bench,
Breschard Smith, the guy would stash right now.
Because if he becomes a starting running back on Kansas City,
you're going to wish you had him.
All right, Dow scored 40 at home last week.
Can they go to the MetLife Stadium and do 40 on the Jets?
They might.
I mean, the Jets, you'd think Aaron Glenn would come in and fix this mess.
No, it seemed like the Jets are still the Jets.
But in terms of the Jets, four guys that you will play.
You will play Justin Fields, certainly against Dallas.
You'll play Brees Hall for sure.
You will play Garrett Wilson.
And yes, you'll play Jason Taylor's son, Mason Taylor.
I mean, look at what, you know, Green Bay, Dallas does not do great against tight ends.
Mason Taylor's turning into their number two target.
Let me give you a player for the Jets.
If you're desperate for a running back, Braylon Allen is going to be out pretty much for the rest of the season.
kid Isaiah Davis can catch a little, can run a little. If you're in desperate mode, you're in a deep
league. He should probably get about 10 touches this week. I'm not saying he's great, but it's
week five. There's bye weeks, so we have issues. Las Vegas got the running game going. A certain
Boise State running back had his best game. A couple of touchdowns out of the backfield of one
rushing as well. Can he do that for a second stroke week as the Raiders go to Indianapolis?
Absolutely. I mean, we've been waiting for this for how long? We've been, where was Gentie?
Where was Gentie?
We finally saw Gentie.
I mean, he is that good.
I think they'll have to lean on him.
Brock Bowers, he's not 100%.
We know that.
Michael Mayer, not 100%.
So they're not going to lean on the tight end.
I think Jacoby Myers is in a good spot this week.
But really, Genty is in a great, great situation.
So I think you play him on the other side.
Alec Pierce is out.
Once again, Michael Pittman is not 100%.
I really, obviously, we love Jonathan Taylor.
We love Tyler Warren this week.
Tyler Warren is a smash play.
So, I mean, the Raiders run a lot of cover three defense, and Warren's on that.
So get him in.
This will not be a Super Bowl preview, Miami at Carolina.
But I'm curious how the dolphins now go without Tyreek Hill for probably the rest of the season.
Yeah.
So I think you want to focus on a few guys.
One is obviously Devana Chan, Boo is going to get all the carers he can handle.
Two, Jalen Waddle, the new number one receiver.
Whenever Tyreek has been injured in the past, Waddle has stepped up.
I like Malik Washington.
Malik Washington is a guy who, look, you're in a 12-team league.
You need a receiver.
Washington will be a starter there.
He's not sensational, but he's good enough about 10 fantasy points a week.
Darren Wallet looked really good, M.T., right?
He came in at a couple of touchdowns.
I don't know if we could expect that every week, but he's certainly in play.
For Carolina, I don't know if people saw this Chuba Hubbard is out with a calf injury.
Jatavion Sanders is out.
Bryce Young, I do think, is playable against his bad Miami defense.
Rico Dowdell, let's not forget, this guy doesn't suck.
He was good for Dallas last year.
And to Troy and McMillan is a must start.
Jackson Dart gets a win in his first start.
Will he do make it two straight at New Orleans?
You know, I'm going to call this one.
I'm going to call the Saints upset here.
I am.
Look, the Giants are coming off an emotional win at home.
Okay, they played really well.
But you just lost Malik neighbors.
I think people saw Jackson Dart and what the Johnson.
Giants want to do. They want to make it like a college-style offense. The guy only threw,
what was it, 20 passes last week? So I don't think they're going to be throwing the ball everywhere.
Obviously, we like Scataboo. I like Darius Slate in a ton this week because the Saints are
our pass funnel defense. I don't hate Wondale Robinson. But on the other side, I'm going to
give you a couple of guys. First of all, Alvin Kamara, they may trade him at any point soon, so they
go want to give him carries. I love Chris Olavé, and I love Rashid Shaheed. The Giants are terrible in the
back end. If Spencer Rattler is willing to take a chance downfield,
Shaheed could be the beneficiary of a long distance touchdown.
All right. Last one for me, Dr. Roto, I put in Drake May last week.
I was very pleased with that. New England's not a sexy team. Probably not going to contend
the AFC East, but that doesn't mean they can't be helpful fantasy-wise.
Can Drake May and his skill position players put up similar numbers this week going on a Sunday night
game at Buffalo? Yeah, it's a divisional game, right? I think the reason I don't
Well, who's your other quarterback, M.T, besides me?
That would be a certain pun name player, Kyler Murray.
Ah, okay.
So, yeah.
I guess are we playing Drake May?
I'm playing Kyler this week.
As am I, yes.
Yeah.
The thing is, is that, look, the way to beat Buffalo is to run the football a ton.
You just got to keep running it, running it, running it, because that's their weakness.
And the Patriots like to do that.
They give the ball to Stevenson.
They give the ball to Henderson.
They give the ball to Antonio.
Gibson. So I like, you know I like Drake May. I just don't know if I love them this week.
Vegas only thinks they're going to score about 20 points. The Cardinals are in a position where
they really should slam. They don't have James Connor. They don't have Trey Benson.
Look, Michael Carter is not a generational talent. We're going to see a lot of Kyler, throwing a
Marvin Harrison, thrown to Trey McBride. All right, time now, Rossi, to get your obligatory
question in for your one and three sorry-ass team.
Oh, hey, first of all, I'm in multiple leagues, Matt, and we're looking at championship
ready in some other spots. We've had some injuries.
But we'll keep it philosophical. You mentioned,
of course, a lot of injuries and
some buys and all that type of stuff. Just curious,
some tight ends you're thinking.
Could have a chance to get a touchdown and
be some good streamers and the same thing for
quarterbacks who could maybe perform.
All right. Give me a second on this one. I want to
look this up for you. Mott over.
Okay, great. You know what we'll do?
Hey, streamers. We can take a break.
Let's take a break. Dr. Rotto. You know the answer
already?
Of course I have an answer already.
That's what I do.
All right.
So first of all, I really like, I do.
I like Dalton Schultz a lot.
I think he's in a great spot this week.
I like Brenton Strange.
I think Strange is in a good spot this week.
How about Theo Johnson?
Theo Johnson in a better spot.
And we saw that Dart used him last week.
Quarterbacks that I think that are interesting.
Man, I like Daniel Jones.
I like, oh, Spencer Rattler.
Don't laugh.
I like C.J. Stroud.
Spencer Rattler and Justin Fields.
I think the way to beat the Giants
is if you can withstand the pass rush,
throw the ball deep. Rattler may
have the best game he's going to have all season.
I think Stroud's going to have one of the best games that he's
had all season. And Justin
Fields against Dallas all day. All day.
All right. There it is.
Ladies and gentlemen, your opportunity to get questions
