And the second you think you have a team figured out,
you don't at all. That's what's going to happen
all here across the league.
And the Texans would be a perfect team
for that because Sean Watson can win every
game that he plays. But
occasionally the Texans screw things up.
Have a great weekend, friend. Thank you for the time, as always.

They had snuck in in the night and committed these murders.
Nobody had a clue about who or a why.
You got eight people dead and things like that don't usually happen.
In a small town, I mean, they don't usually happen anywhere.
Somebody was trying to send a message.
I don't think there can be any doubt about that.
They could have written a more sinister story than what's playing out in Pike County, Ohio right now.

At Square, we know running a business is always challenging.
One thing is certain in the life is change.
It changes certain every single day.
We had to figure out how to fear this.
God willing, we're going to come out on the other side of COVID, stronger as a company.
We're all in a valley, but there's always a peak on the way.
But this year, running a business is an entirely different story.

Yeah.
Is the Matt Thomas Show.
All right.
One of my favorite Astros to talk about and talk to is Josh Reddy.
It is the Matt Thomas show.
And Josh joins us at least once or twice a year.
And the tradition of having Josh on is we will talk baseball.
But we always got to get in some pro wrestling.
Josh, why did Randall K. Orton hit our legend, Rick Flair and the Nads?
I mean, come on now.
That's so unwarranted and so mean to the Hall of Fame.
Big heel turn.
Randy's always been a very good heel in this career,
so it makes perfect sense why he's going on this little rampage.
And for all we know, they could be building up some kind of evolution match come
WrestleMania time because he seems to be running down the, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, with, with, uh, Rick Flair and Sean Michael. So, maybe he might go to go cheap shot, you know, Triple Age next and get us a nice little
WrestleMania. Oh. One that I will watch in 10th. I feel like you're writing the scripts for the show already. That's nice to work on your part.
I could be way better than Dave Grecker. I'll say that right now. Way, way better writing scripts than that guy.
I got to be honest with you. And I started watching a lot of.
more wrestling during the pandemic. I'm old school guys compared to the new stuff. And I tried
watching. I just can't get into wrestlers that weigh 150 pounds and I can't get into every
female wrestler that looks the exact same. And again, I may be not preaching the choir on this, but
it's just, it's bothering me that there's no, like Charlotte Flair is sexy and different than
the other eight or nine that all look the same. Yeah, I can get with that. I've never been
the big 205 live guy
just kind of one of those things
I can't get into it I like to see
you know with you with you
I'm with you I'm going to see the big guys get body slam
other big guys and going there
and beating the crap out of each other and
yeah and that's for the women's matches
it's just not really the same
unless you're there for different reasons
which you know we can keep PG at this moment
yeah look you're a father now we can't be bringing that up
at this point uh let's get serious
I will agree I will agree with you
Charlotte player is a very talented and sexy woman.
Oh, God, I interviewed her at the Super Bowl, and I just fell in love from the moment I saw her.
All right, let's get...
She's great.
She is.
Real serious moment for one second.
We've seen a lot of cancellations in your sport.
Have you guys addressed it as a group at all?
Where are we on playing tonight?
Have you had any sort of conversations?
I haven't had anything with my teammates yet.
I imagine that'll be discussed when we get there.
But as of right now, as far as I know, we're playing.
We've had these two days off.
I don't know what guys are thinking, but the way I look at it,
we can't really afford a third day off with our pitching and our hitting,
that time it wore off if you don't have the right amount of place.
We're still out on that.
I don't know.
We'll see here in about it.
Yeah, you're heading there shortly.
I would imagine, then we'll move on to this,
that this is a kind of conversation you don't want to have via text.
you guys want to be man to man on this. Would that be safe and saying?
Correct.
Text message, you never know
you don't really get a good feel for somebody.
Like any other situation, talking face-to-face in a text message.
You know, we've all had that conversation with our significant other wife, girlfriend,
boyfriend, whatever it may be to where you take something the wrong way.
And this is a scenario where that just can't happen.
Yeah, it's probably wisely done.
Josh Redick with us here on the Matt Thomas show.
So what did you do?
I mean, I can't imagine you guys.
I mean, look, you guys like off days.
Who doesn't?
You're playing 60 games and 66 days thereabouts.
And I talked to Dusty about this a while ago.
These two off days, and a lot of it was weather-related,
came in kind of an interesting time because your bats were really starting to start to fire off
and put up some big production in the last week or so.
Yeah, I go back to, like you said, off-days for me.
I really look forward to them, especially the older I get.
You know, this 33 years probably in my hardest year.
and, you know, recovering and doing what I need to do to get my body right for the next day.
So I think these two days are a great way to reset the body, but, you know, hopefully the swing is still there.
And like you said, I think with us getting our bats filing out, though, there's just another way to try to get us down in the dumps with the way this season's going for us in particular with the virus and recovering from everything that's going on to spring training.
So we got to go out there into our job regardless.
And it's not going to be easy when you have all days against people.
You have guys like the Oakland A's coming in who are, you know,
probably one of the better teams in baseball this year.
And I think they know that, and we know that as well.
But we've got to go about our program and do our routines the same way we would anyway
and go out there and kick some butt.
Hi, Josh, Ross Villarreal with you.
And you mentioned trying not to get down in the dumps and things like that.
And we know that the NBA paused.
And part of it has been, you know, they're under a lot of mental pressure and stress.
And you mentioned all that.
What has that been like for you?
What is your experience like as opposed to years past,
just from a mental aspect of day-to-day and getting tested and all that stuff?
Draining.
Mentally and physically draining for everything, not just saliva testing or whatnot,
but the precautions that we take, getting to the ballpark,
we get to the ballpark, stay here at home,
we're driving to our little garage, and, you know,
we're getting our temperatures checked twice.
We're getting, you know, the car search with the dog is normal.
That's every year.
I'm not a big fan of carrying around a lanyard with my name on it for like a name tag, so to speak.
That's got to be scanned twice when we get to the field.
That's something I'm having a tough time adjusting because it's something you can't forget or it's a whole big debacle.
Obviously, spitting into a little tube is zero fun.
But doing what we need to do to be able to play is the biggest key right now, I think.
And for somebody like me, I wanted to play the whole time when we were going to be negotiating.
I've always wanted to be a part of it because this game has won my life.
And then two, like I said earlier, I'm not getting any younger.
So I want to play as many seasons as possible.
I don't want to go out there and miss the season and come back at 34.
And, you know, looking back saying what if, so to speak.
Yeah.
The protocols we do take or a little, excuse me, demanding and do a lot of wear and tear on you because when you go on the road,
it's, you know, you can't leave your hotel room and a lot of families can't travel and if they do,
they've got to get tested.
And for me, that's also tough because I've got these two boys that are 11-month-old twins at the house
and I really don't like leaving a whole lot.
Right.
But I would love to have them on the road as much as possible because that was the plan this year for us to be able to have them on the road
and come see Daddy at the ballpark and hang out with Daddy in the clubhouse.
So it's definitely frustrating, I think it would be the most single accurate word to use in this
situation. Two more questions for Josh Redick of the Astros here on the Matt Thomas show.
I travel with the Rockets calling their games, but not down in the bubble, but when we normally
do, sometimes you after a game, you want to go eat, or let's say you go back to the room
and you're tired and then you can't sleep. It's 1.30 in the morning. You're like, man, I can go
for an I hop omelet right now, and I can get up and I can go do that. Is that the hardest part
of the road? Is that once that you step in that room and you shut the door, essentially,
they don't want you leaving until it's time for you to go to the ballpark, right?
Basically, yeah, we do have a list of restaurants and they give us that they would like this to order from,
but also Uber Eats is still is not ruled out for us.
They're not saying we can't do it.
So for the better part of this year, that's been my go-to for breakfast.
And you actually drop one of my favorites.
I hop and Denny's are my two go-teacher breakfast.
Yep.
Just because this is good of those chocolate-chip pancakes, man.
Those things are really good.
And if we're after a game where I want to get something, if I want to order, say, a pizza or something like that.
bed, then that's still on the table. It's not like they're completely quarantining us to where we can't
have anybody or anything come to our room. The only difference is there, I think they have to
drop it off at the front desk, and then the hotel personnel has to bring it up. So it's not like
we're interacting with the outsiders. It's just the hotel staff bringing it up. So at least we still
have that. It's not a complete quarantine. So we can still get a good amount of food that we might
appreciate more than, you know, the late night 1am club sando from the room service.
Yeah, by the way, that Cub Sando is $38.
It doesn't include a gratuity either.
So just as you would know that.
Well, where we stay, it does.
It's a $30 service delivery fee and a $10 gratuity fee.
At the end of your club sandwich and prize, you're looking at it about a $65 expense.
Yeah, but you're really rich, so I'm not really overly concerned about that for you.
But we move on.
Hey, before I let you run, you have been all over the batting order, largely because of injuries.
We've seen Jose move up and down.
just from a baseball perspective, and you've been up and down your entire lineup in your career.
Tell me the difference in batting six or seventh as compared to second and how you approach it
and maybe some of the pitch selections you see.
The one thing I noticed when I'm hitting second, which is probably one of my favorite spots
in the lineup outside of the three-hole, is more protection.
You know, you're more around better-known hitters are in that middle of that lineup.
So when I got stuck in there behind Springer and in front of Bregman and even the Michael Brantley,
It reminded me a lot when I hit second for this team in 17 when I had Altuve behind me,
and just a bunch of stars hitting behind me.
So I was probably one of the guys that got overlooked in that situation,
and I just tend to do better.
But hitting down in this six and seven hole, obviously,
you don't have as much protection as you would have in those situations.
And that's not a knack to our guys down there.
It's just how the way the lineup works.
I think I get a lot more off speed when I'm hitting down in the lineup,
so I think I look for more off speed.
and maybe not swing as early in the count
because they may try to flirt with the strike zone
with me a little bit more to get me to chase
and get myself out to move the line.
So I've got to be a little bit more patient,
I think, down there as opposed to being more aggressive
early on in the lineup.
You're always forthcoming with us.
We really appreciate it.
I hope you guys are playing tonight
and go get those aides because it's time for you
to start chipping away at their leading
the American League West.
Josh, thanks for the time this afternoon.
That's right, man.
Appreciate you having me.
All right, take care, never.
Josh Reddick with us here on the Matt Thomas show.
one of my faves.
He just got a little bit of everything.
Yeah, wrestling, IHop, baseball, season veteran.
The protocols are draining.
He's being truthful.
Yeah.
Everything would be draining.
Great sport.
Make lots of money.
Happy to do it.
I mean, you can't be a little bit draining.
Everybody has wonderful jobs, but everybody can't say every part of their job is perfect.
And this is what they're going through there.
Well, not everybody has a wonderful job.
Well, thankfully, the three of us are.
are very happy in our positions.
I'm very good.
No complaints about good.
The Matt Thomas show 12 to 3.
I found my third T, by the way.
Oh, did you?
I feel pretty, pretty good about my list.
Nobody's going to have an ugly girl on their list.
No, but it's all going to, now the question is going to be, can 30 plus be okay?
I don't know.
Because let's face it, 25-year-olds, generally speaking, you're going to look better than 36-year-olds,
unless a 36-year-old just looks great for her age.
Sometimes you've got to get a seasoned vet in the mix, Matt.
Yeah, you can't have a bunch of rookies.
You know, tested, battle tested.
That's a battle-tested veterans.
That's what we got.
Who've been through some wars.
Thus the Matt Thomas show, Fantasy 5, 230.
Right now it's 211 on Sports Talk, Syvedetti.
