Lunch timers.
This is the Matt Thomas show.
10.2 in H-Town.
Good morning, everyone.
And welcome to a Wednesday edition of the Matt Thomas show with Ross here on Sports Talk 790.
It is a little more than a snack-sized show.
We're going to take you to 1150 today and then send you over to Cat Tye Park of the Palm Beaches for a little spring training baseball.
where today, Rossi, Brandon Walter will take the Hill for the local nine in spring training play against the nationals.
Unbelievable.
The anticipation is killing me.
Well, I don't want you to die over this.
I mean, there's bigger issues in your life besides this.
I was being metaphorical, Matt.
Oh, I see, I see.
All right, so a snack size edition of the show today.
Yeah, it's fine.
Hey, but we'll have the game for you, and everybody that hates us because we carry spring training games at night,
will not be nearly as mad at us today.
That's good.
We've been doing it for a long time, friends.
Literally years and years.
Yeah.
And remember, we carry the ones, the games that really count during the season.
Every single one that really counts.
Well, some are on KTRH.
That's because we got Rockets.
Yes.
A deep playoff run, Rossi.
Well, we'll see.
We'll see how deep of a playoff run it is.
But it's been for years and years and years.
And if I have this correctly, most teams do not broadcast their spring training games.
Most teams.
Or at least that used to be the case.
Yeah, most teams broadcast them.
They just don't put them over the radio ever.
Like, they'll put like 10 games on,
and the rest will be on the Internet.
So you're welcome Astros fans.
Yeah, we still give you a boatload of games.
I mean, all the night games we carry live,
we carry quite a few the day games,
the weekend games.
I mean, we do all right.
We get you ready.
Mm-hmm.
We get you ready for a little Cam Smith
right field debut tomorrow.
Oh, baby.
Oh, here we go.
The future right fielder of yours, you send Astros.
So, Cam Smith walks in the Astros Clubhouse today,
and the word travels fast that Cam Smith's going to play in right field.
Cam's like, man, Chas, can you help me out with a couple thing?
Who are you?
What do you do?
That's not happening.
Cam Smith isn't going to Chaz McCormick to learn how to play right.
Oh, that's so mean, sports RV.
He's talking to Michael Brantley.
That's actually true.
Uncle Mike is out there.
Do you think they do that awkward nod?
Like, what's up?
What's up?
You know, when you have somebody in the office that's about to take your spot
or is like leading the department in sales for the month
and you're not the top dog anymore?
What's up?
I'm what you're doing?
I guess.
Get them sales up, Chas.
Last year was putrid.
Yeah.
Time for a rebound or we're going to put you back in the,
with the junior sellers.
Put you back
You make you a free agent
Oh
What about those guys that do the chast chop?
Are they going to be okay?
I don't know
You have to come up with something for Cam Smith
All right so here's what we got
We have
Yonon
Excuse me we have
Alperin Shingoon Truthers
Oh what's happening now
Nothing I'm just trying to think
Who are the current truthers
I know what they did
Definitely Shingoon
Who's the Dubon Truthers
Right
there's chas there's got to be a chazy fizz oh jake myers truther i'm working with one every day let's go baby
you're smacking a ball a little bit yeah i got him top five MVP this year do you okay yeah
i got him on the roster the entire season that's good there's gonna be some middle ground between
two of us uh who's who's a texan truther is uh it was davis mills for a while yeah is it tank
Dell? No, he's actually good. Nobody likes
Dalton Schultz, it doesn't seem like. No,
no, no. A lot of money
spent on that cat for the next couple of years.
Mm-hmm.
Maybe the Texas don't have a truth or not. Who is somebody
that we just... There are people who are
like huge into Nick Asario and think he's a genius.
That is completely accurate.
You're talking media? Are you talking about fans? Both.
Probably both. Yeah, I'll get you.
We will have Nick Asero on
the show. I believe we've got it scheduled for Never
19th at Never 30. Oh, I'll give you
another one, Cam Whitmore. There are people that think
Cam Whitmore needs to start over Geelan Green.
Cam Whitmore doesn't even
playing more. Well,
they're getting a dose of reality.
It is weird on the Rockets. By the way, Fred Van Vleet
listed as probable
yesterday. Yesterday now.
We've got to shoot around. We've got to shoot around today.
Okay. It's what they call light practice
that kids would say. Well, yeah. I think it was he,
apparently there was practice yesterday, right?
Yes, there was.
So a light shoot around today, and then when we'll find out about 515 tonight,
when the E. Medoca speaks to the media, of course, we'll have the game right for it here around Sports Talk 790,
as it take on the Durantula, Kevin Durant, and the will be gone, Phoenix Suns.
And Devin Booker should be playing, correct?
Yes, I believe I did not see him on the injury report yesterday, so we'll check on that.
but yeah, they're in the 11th spot.
If you're the Phoenix Suns
and you don't make the playoffs
that Kyrie Irving has done for the year
and the Mavericks traded Luca Donchich,
I mean, is your life just not worth
hanging around for much longer?
They're going to make it.
I think they're two and a half out.
Don't hold me to that.
I won't hold you to that, but I will bring up the standings.
Let me see, I think I have been a standings.
You've been a standings whore.
I am a standing.
I'm a standing's whore. I am standings obsessed.
Two and a half back, two in the
lost column. What's wrong with me,
by the way, on that? Why am I obsessed
about these Western Conference? I think I'm the only person
obsessed about them. That's not true.
You just want to know where you're heading
for a playoff series. Well,
what I want, and this is the God's
honest truth on this, I want to avoid
the playing game under every circumstance.
That's going to happen. That's going to happen. They've got
a three and a half cushion for that.
Yeah, they're three in front of Golden State
for the six seat. By the way, Golden State just never
loses. They've won five in a row and nine of ten.
Minnesota is three
and a half out. So I've been
telling Wex and I'll tell this to Adam
Clant next time we're working together. I want scores in the game.
I just, I won't build a focus.
I mean, I'll focus on the game itself
that I'm calling, but I need scores. Just close
the tab or whatever you're looking at. Although they put
them on the big board at the Toyota Center too.
No, no, I want to see them.
Don't look. I want to.
No, Matt. I want to look.
Focus on the task at hand.
I guess I can. You know, there's one thing I can
teach you bad it's about focus yeah exactly if they did they call you mr straight eyed right right
eye on the prize i'm sorry what eye on the prize i was kidding all right hey it's great to
have all of you with us today uh we have at 1120 today our weekly edition of shut your bum ass up
we got a lot to get to on that we do well i mean it was this is feel like our most cathartic
part of the week don't you agree yeah i don't know if i have anybody yell at at the moment
I mean, I could yell at Shaq for not knowing who the coaches of the Pistons.
Yes.
Did you see that audio?
I did.
Pretty bad.
And everybody on that set was just kind of laughing it off.
I'd be like, if I was the chairman of TNT Sports, who, by the way, they're paying
Shaq $15 million next year, I don't want to be made fun of.
You know what?
We can have goofy takes and things that we can say that are kind of crazy and whatnot.
But just fundamental things.
that you should know.
And I'm not asking for him to give me a deep dive of every player in the Detroit Pistons
or a deep dive of anything in college basketball.
But Shaquille O'Neal is paid, and he was talking about how much he loves the Detroit Pistons,
and he's bringing up Chauncey Billups' name.
Well, there's a problem.
Chonsie Billups is the coach of the Portland Trailblazers, not the Detroit Pistons.
So then somebody on the set says, well, I got to straighten you out, it was Jamie Bickers' out.
And then he goes on and say, well, I don't watch the Detroit Pistons.
Then how do you know they're any good?
It's bad.
It's, and it's not, we talk.
Let me tell you, Ross, you're talking about this all the time.
I'm going to do it again, and I'm sorry, Ross.
I'm sorry.
I know.
I apologize ahead of the time of the audience.
The biggest problem in our industry, whether it's local, whether it is national, is we have given too many people the opportunity to hold a microphone.
I blame the networks.
I blame YouTube.
I blame podcast.
I blame people that just don't ever hold anybody accountable for anything.
Yeah, it's a problem.
And it's not only that, like, as you said, people aren't holding him accountable.
Shaq's not holding himself accountable.
Wouldn't you feel some sort of personal responsibility to know about the NBA if you were getting $15 million?
Or you just don't care because you're speaking for 17 different products.
And you're America's pitch man.
you're one of the greatest NBA players of all time
and you think it's
Turner's privilege to give you this money
to talk about the NBA.
Even though you know what the hell you're even talking about,
you can't even name the coach of the team you're breaking down.
I mean, I'm going to tell you something.
I'm going to peel the curtain back, Ross,
because I think you know, you know, I like to build a curtain.
Yes.
If I miss call a play
where I say a person got a rebound or a score
or something,
I get in my car and I crush myself over it.
Yes.
And I go, I've got to be better.
And look, I call 25,000 plays a year.
So if I get 24, 950 right, I'm very happy.
But the 50 plays I get wrong a year, I get, I'm upset at myself.
Do you think Shack got in his car last night after Misk naming the coach of the Detroit Pissons
of which he was talking about?
Do you think he was really bothered by that?
Do you think somebody at T&T was bothered by that?
No.
Yeah.
I'm sorry to get on my soapbox on this.
I apologize.
guys, but I just, look, you're not all going to bat a thousand.
We're all going to miss things.
Of course.
But in this basic world in which Shaquille O'Neal is brought up on the television set to,
sit down and entertain, you got to get a few things right.
It's funny.
It was literally probably like a year ago.
I said the wrong baseball player.
I said Jorge Saler instead of like Jorge Polanco or something.
And I literally thought about it like in the last week.
I was like, oh my God, I can't believe I said that.
Like stuff like that.
I'm with you.
Like, if I get something wrong, it makes me upset.
And clearly Shag doesn't care.
And when I, and the day that I don't get upset about me missing a call is the day I should probably stop doing it.
Yeah.
I just, you know, on tomorrow's edition, I just don't get it.
I just don't get how people can just go out there and blatantly get things wrong.
Now, again, opinions.
You can, okay, predictions and opinions.
There's some subjectivity to it, right?
There's some, yeah.
There's more leeway, to me, crushing people for bad predictions is one thing, because nobody can predict the future.
You know, I say, ah, the Celtics are going to crush whoever and then they lose.
Right, right, right.
Whatever.
But, yeah, if you're going to have some crazy whack opinion, or if you're just not going to know what you're talking about or know who's on the team, that's completely, you are failing at your responsibility.
to bring good analysis.
Yeah.
I'm sorry, and I apologize for getting the soapbox on it,
but I just saw that today,
and I was like, man,
we have people in the media industry
losing jobs left and right.
Yes.
That are fact checkers for these guys
making $15 million a year.
I mean, Colin Coward goofs up all the time.
Very entertaining.
Goofs up all the time.
Stephen A. Smith, highly compensated,
highly opinioned, makes massive mistakes all the time.
And they just,
shake it off.
All right.
Back to us some other things.
We mentioned Fred Van Vleet,
probable for tonight's game, which is very good news,
especially because the rockets are down, a bunch of point
guards, because of reach-up, bridge injury, and obviously
a man, Thompson out.
It is all quiet on the Frasian front
right now, I believe, on the Texans. No new
offensive linemen have been signed or anything? Not that I've
heard of. Did you see what Ian Rappaport said
over the... What did Ian Rappaport say?
Well, then we come back. Oh, look at this.
That's what we call professional T sports RV.
That's what we do.
It is the Matt Thomas show, Ross, shut your bum ass up at 1120.

Matt Thomas.
Ross Villariel.
It's the Matt Thomas Show with Ross
on Sports Talk 790.
You said something very interesting about cake.
A great player now at this stage
who plays at his own pace.
Anybody that can consistently play at their own place
and put up numbers, it's a great player.
I like the way he's playing.
I like what Chelsea is doing.
Those guys play hard.
My favorite player on their team is Isaiah Stewart.
Big body, hard guy.
I can't let this go.
Who's doing it?
You said Chonty?
Chonzie's the coach, right?
Okay.
Portland.
No.
What was like I can't let this guy?
Jay Bickson.
That's what I mean.
Hey, you know, first of all, I don't watch Detroit.
How about that, Boo?
I don't watch her.
I just couldn't let that go.
I made a mistake.
Yeah, boo-boo.
And by the way, accountability?
It was not a ENRF report.
We're going to talk about.
It was an Albrear report.
Oh, come on, man.
I make the apology.
It was not, it was not meant with intent.
I'm just kidding.
No, no, no.
I want to make sure that.
Sheck could have done that.
He could have said, I'm sorry.
You know, Shantz used to play for the Pistons.
I got the names mixed.
He doubled down.
It was like, oh, I don't care.
I don't watch Detroit.
Like, that's, that was like childlike to me.
That's what made it worse.
It's okay to kind of say, you know, Matt, you've said the wrong,
I've said, though.
And when you kind of play it off, you're like, oh, you know what, I'm sorry, Matt, that's, that's, that's, that's move on.
You don't double down and be like, oh, who cares?
I don't even watch Detroit.
That's, that's, that's one of the teams, one of the 30 teams in your league that's actually doing well, by the way.
And you're completely dismissing them.
Yeah.
That's, yeah.
It's ridiculous.
It is ridiculous.
All right.
It is the Matt Thomas show with Ross, Sports Talk 790, 713, 2,12.
57790, 713, 212-579.
If you want to jump into the conversation, we're with you today until 1150.
Then we send it over to Astros Spring Training.
Hey, okay, so Albert Breer does the Monday morning quarterback, it's MMQB.
And he inherited that from what Peter King, because Peter King retired, correct?
Uh-huh.
When he wasn't hanging up on producers who were trying to get on the show.
Really grouchy reporter.
I mean, super grouchy.
it is what it is we can't always be pleasant 24-7
so he basically was asked about
why the Texans have made all these moves
and he said that Laramie Tunsell was considered
well liked by the players
and Russ if he was not liked we would have heard about it
so to have the narrative out there that this guy
was a bad dude and not appreciated and whatnot, that's not necessarily the case.
But, apparently, according to Albert Breer, he said that the once promising unit of the
offensive line for the Texas, which they spent a lot of money on the last couple of years,
turned into a borderline toxic place to be.
You know why that is, Ross, in my mind?
It's because you had five or six guys, depending on who was playing and who was hurt and whatever.
we're all trying to pass blame on other people
is the reason why they gave up 54 sacks this past year.
That's what makes it toxic, right?
Probably.
I mean, that makes sense.
There was a lot of shuffling going around
and maybe there were some finger pointing
and stuff like that.
I don't know.
Well, I'm going to go, I don't know,
but I feel very confident
and assuming that that could be the case.
Has this been refuted?
I'm sure this will get refuted by everyone
and who are players and management and stuff like that.
You know what, though, Ross?
I don't know if they need to do it because I think the evidence of what that report is
is bearing out with the fact that three members of the offensive line are gone now.
That room needed to be shuffled up.
I would also say borderline toxic.
I mean, he's a writer, so he chose that carefully.
I think that kind of makes it try to sound worse than it is.
I will say this, you can agree with me.
I don't think he made up that frame.
No, I don't think borderline, maybe there was some disagreements and some heated arguments.
What does borderline toxic mean?
It's toxic or it's not to me?
If you're going to be reporting like this.
I think you can be in a workplace.
I think I know the difference between borderline toxic and toxic.
I do.
I think I can reasonably understand anything in life when somebody says, like if things on the verge,
when you hear the term of Ross
of the term verge of disaster.
Okay.
I mean, there's a disaster
and then you're on the verge of something.
Or you hear the term the verge of something big.
Well, it's big or it's almost going to get there.
I know what the words mean.
I'm just saying, I think it was,
I don't know.
Yeah, I would say,
that would mean nobody cared.
If everybody was like all smiles and thumbs up
and everything was great,
that means they didn't care.
Because obviously the unit was
horrible last year.
Here's how I read it, and I'm just one man's
opinion. Is that that room
went in there and looked
at the film every week, and
everybody screwed up. Different weeks
were different performances.
And I think at that
point, they
looked at each other and said, oh, that was your fault.
Well, that was your fault. That was your fault.
I think that's what happened. I think there was a lot. I think
the blame game was very strong
in the Texans O-line room.
I will say, I could believe,
that some of the blame was tried to be placed on Laramie Tunsell and he was there was
pushback and then maybe a lack of accountability from Laramie Tunsell I could see that
yeah I'm not saying this is not an indictment I think overall on Laramie I think this is a
indictment on the room itself so then I guess who was on Pat McAfee was it was I think it was
was I think it was sure and and they were asking and he was saying you know
how much interest was there in Laramie Tunsell and apparently he reported the Texans
were shopping, Laramie to a bunch of teams,
and a lot of teams said, now we're good.
Now, whether that's because their offensive line was satisfied
or that they knew that Laramie Tunsell was looking to get a new deal.
Because remember, part of this is that Larry Tunsell is probably going to
resign a new extension with the Washington General,
the General's Commanders.
General's commanders, same thing.
Yeah, I think it comes as part of the territory.
So, I mean, my guess is that we'll be hearing in the not too distant future,
either a reworked contract or an extension for Laramie Tunsell.
And right now, if you are the Washington commanders,
not only their roster top to bottom,
but knowing what they've done so far in the offseason, Ross,
if they don't win the Super Bowl, could they blow this bad boy up or at least get there?
Because they are spending a lot of money to make sure Jane Daniels is properly protected.
They're doing what the Texans have tried to do.
They're trying to seize the opportunity of him on a rookie deal.
Right.
And that's absolutely what they should do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
1028, Sports Talk, 790.

I would.
I got some information to this morning.
Uh-oh.
That is 100% accurate.
Okay.
That I want every Astro fan to write down.
Hmm.
That's how important information I'm going to give you.

If you want to visit with us through Twitter, you may do that as well.
At SportsMT and at SportsServe.
Everybody, I want you to get a notepad out because I was given some incredible information today.
It wasn't like I was digging for it, but I wanted to get it right myself.
So I'm going to read this information I got to.
about Cam Smith because obviously Cam Smith is
would you say Ross is the second biggest
storyline coming out of camp besides Jose L. Tuve and
left field? I would say yes.
Okay. So
I posed a question
about the Astros
and whether or not
Cam Smith's
start making the roster
out of spring training would be
a good thing or a bad thing.
All right? So stay
with me, ladies and gentlemen as I read this to you.
And again, write this down or I'm just
going to have this standby ready because we're going to get this conversation probably closer
to the start of opening day. I said, can the Astros delay Smith's service time a year if he
misses the first 15 games of the season? And here's a response I got back. A player must be on a
major league roster or injured list in all but 15 days to be able to accumulate one year of service
time. All right. Okay. So he comes back. If he starts in day 16,
in place of full season, it still wouldn't be a full year of service time.
You can get a draft pick after the first round
if a prospect promotion incentive eligible player
accrues one year of service time as a rookie
and then factors into the rookie of the year, the MVP, or the Cy Young.
So if he comes out here and he's a phenom,
meaning i.e. rookie of the year.
I mean, it'd be impossible for MVP, not impossible, but you get my drift.
he could be a rookie of the year
MVP, that'd be crazy. That'd be great.
That'd be crazy if he was.
Players with little or no MLB service time
need to break camp of the team
or be called within two weeks of opening day
and must spend all or most of the year in the big leagues.
Then they must either win their league's
rookie of the year award or place in the top three
for MVP or Cy Young.
So again, it's a very narrow situation.
If that happens,
so if they call up Smith within the first two weeks
and he wins the rookie of the year award, they get a draft pick.
So your option A is start him in the first, start him coming out of camp.
He wins rookie the year you get a draft pick.
And that draft pick, didn't we determine last week, Ross,
it was like a low, first round pick?
It was fairly high up.
It was a higher pick, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Or he waits the 15 days, and then his service time starts a year from now
as compared to starting right away.
That's how I'm reading what I've been.
I was given this morning.
Okay.
So then the question becomes,
would the ask,
if Cam is really ready
and there's nothing else
that they think he could do,
would you potentially be hurting the player
and the player not being in a great mood
if you kept him down there
just for two weeks,
just you could save a year of service time?
I think he's not going to start the season with the team.
I don't think he, I mean,
the Astros have been aggressive,
but this would be beyond what we've seen before
starting this season with Cam Smith on the roster.
Right.
Because if you're putting him on the roster,
you're not putting him on the roster to just sit the bench.
You're putting him on the roster to start every day.
Because you wouldn't bring him up
for the start of the season,
lose a year of his arbitration eligibility,
just to get three at bats in the first two weeks.
My guess is if you want, if you need him, as you said, you need him to play right away
four A-Bs-a-bs-a-game, four-plated appearances, which means either you're not satisfied
at third-base his position or you're not satisfied in right-field position he's going to
start to play here beginning tomorrow.
He's got 20 played appearances above A-ball.
If I'm him, and this is now.
again, I'm trying to put myself into his shoes.
He's got to be very excited about what he has done so far.
Everybody has been raving about, first of all, we had a chance to visit with him.
Bright kid, looks the part, built of granite, crush on the baseball.
But there are two things, three things actually going against him.
Number one, he has not ever seen, he has, what, a very small sample size of double A.
Is that correct?
20 played appearances
So that's extraordinarily small
20
Number two
The glove is not considered
He lead at third base
In fact I saw a scounder report on MLB network
That said erratic at third base
So you're not bringing him for his glove
And you all by the way have Issock Perretti's
Ready to play at third base tomorrow
And number three
If you think he is your guy
do you want to put a guy in right field
who would be playing his first major league baseball game
in a position he's never played at before?
It's not happening. I don't think.
It's not happening.
I'm just trying to logically think of through this, right?
The bat probably is really close, if not ready to go right now.
Now again, we're also going off of May number.
I mean, excuse me, March numbers.
Yes.
March can be very, very sneaky.
Who knows, yeah.
Who knows?
But obviously, Ross, with him playing in right field tomorrow
and him taking some outfield drills yesterday,
they are trying to fast track this.
Yeah, they're trying to fast track it,
but I don't think he starts this season on the roster.
I think it's a little while before he comes up.
And that's the way they should do it.
He's got 20 plate appearances above A ball.
He's just turned 22 years old.
So is this a false narrative we're getting out there?
Is this somebody trying to artificially push this guy to the roster?
Or is Dana giving up enough information, enough whispers out there
that we need this bat so bad that we're willing to take a chance
on a guy that has never played right field in a professional level before?
And again, granted, he's been in only professional time since late last year because he was drafted.
I think we're overhyping a really good spring.
That's what I think.
Yeah, I would, and here's the last thing I'll say about this.
I can't imagine Cam would be like, what are you guys doing trying to hold me back here?
He wouldn't be the first athlete that wouldn't come up to open up a year with the kind of phenone and Brazil he has, and he certainly won't be the last.
And if he is the real deal, Ross, he will get his compensation.
And if he's really the real deal, the Astros have shown a history with some of their star players to buy out years of arbitration.
Yeah. He's in his second year out of, out of college. He's 22. He's barely been in double A ball.
Yeah. Maybe he's God's gift to baseball. We'll see. But I just don't see it. I just don't think it's going to happen as of this moment.
So I'm going to join you in saying that he is not going to make the roster coming out of spring training for a variety of reasons. I think the 15-day rule is a big issue.
you. And again, I think that savvy baseball teams do it. I think baseball players that, I mean,
it would be different, Ross, if he had had a year and a half at spring training.
I mean, excuse me, in the minor leagues. And it had been an OPS of 900 and crushing. And there was
nothing else he could have possibly done. I think we're just catching ourselves because
there are so few storylines that are over intriguing at spring.
training. Because I don't think
having him come up
hoping that he is a rookie of the year to get the
extra draft pick is worth the risk.
This is crazy.
I think it's a hype train by a lot of the fans who are looking
we're grasping at something
because look, honestly, this team is not what it was in the last
several years. And we don't know if this is their last
gas, but Jose Al-Tuvre is literally going to
left field. He's in the twilight of his career.
Right. You have all these question marks in the outfield.
And I think it is natural to try to grasp a young unproven prospect like Cam Smith, no matter what,
but especially in the circumstances that the Astros are in where you really need something to spark your,
to help you get to the idea that this team can contend for a World Series championship.
And if it's relying on Cam Smith to do that in the first two weeks of the,
year than maybe there are some bigger issues than just
Cam Smith joining the team. I'm trying to
avoid saying grasping at straws, but
it's not quite that bad. No, no,
because he's a great prospect. Yeah, I mean,
he deserves this, his
followers right now. He absolutely does.
He's having a spectacular
spring. But what I'm afraid
is going to happen, we've got to get to a break on this. I'm afraid
if he doesn't make the roster coming out of spring,
that the Astros are going to get
hit hard. There will be fans. It's going to
happen. From a PR standpoint that they should be.
Guaranteed. Let's already lock it in. Astro
AOs when he doesn't make the major
league roster to start the season. Like an entire
segment? Probably you can do it.
Yeah, I think you're right, unfortunately.

1052 on the Matt Thomas show
with Ross. We take this program until 1150.
of shut your bum ass up coming up at
1120.
Anybody got time for that as well.
Staying with the Astros
here for this remaining portion of the
1050 segment.
Brian McTaggart announcing five minutes
ago that Lance
McCuller Jr. through 30 pitches
against three different Astros.
Rogers, Guillermo,
and something called short, I don't know who
that is. struck out two,
had three balls put into play, and
walked one. Meaning the balls put in play,
there was nobody in the outfield.
So whether they were outs or not, it doesn't really matter.
Jake Myers would have got it.
Jake Myers has petitioned to play six positions in one baseball game at the same time.
They might need them to.
They might go with two outfielders.
You know, it's funny when you play softball, you have four outfielders.
Jake Myers is so fast, he only wanted one outfielder.
He wanted to be by himself out there.
Yeah, he does.
He does.
This is good news.
I mean, again, slow, slow build.
Yes.
I think it's really good news.
I'm still feeling May 15th.
A couple of strikeouts is good.
He wanted to get some work in a game in a spring.
We'll see if that happens.
Right.
The biggest hurdle for any pitcher is getting out at the major league level.
So can he get out after all this time off?
What state is his arm in?
Is it close to where he was?
basically the last time he had a really good season was 2021.
Here's the thing, though, and this is why I think it's going to be still two months.
We're talking about 30 pitches.
That's good.
If he was a reliever, this wouldn't be an issue.
But I think hasn't Mr. McCuller's on multiple occasions said that's not in what I'm thinking about.
Yeah, Matt, don't disrespect relievers and what they do.
That's the way he spun it.
That's interesting that he would do it that way.
I would think he would like to come out and contribute to the team
as compared to worrying about his pitch kind of work as throwing.
I mean, he honestly doesn't have any leverage in this.
I think the Astros will do whatever they can to accommodate him
because, let's face it, this is not an uberly deep rotation right now going in,
especially because you've got so many guys hurt.
Yeah, you need some depth and you're paying him $18 million.
But at the same time, if the Astros are like, man, we need a six-in-in-guy,
and your arm is able to rebound from 30 pitches.
I'm not saying tomorrow he would do it in four days.
But you see my point is that if the arm is telling him we can do this,
and we could use you once or twice a week at 30 pitches,
then let's stop worrying about whether or not you can get to 85 or 90,
because that's what made, I mean, here's the reality.
If all of a sudden, here I am putting the cart well,
Well, before the horse, and I apologize for that.
Go ahead.
But in two months, if he's ready to go,
but the folks say he's about a 75 pitch pitcher,
you know that every fifth day,
you're going to tax your bullpen terribly.
Yeah, I'm sure the goal is for him to ramp up to be a full starter.
That's the goal.
Does he get there is another question.
Yeah.
I just would not, if I was Lance at this point in my career,
and I'm sure he gets tired of being asked about it.
And my guess is he's not being asked about it.
And there was some initial stuff early on.
But I, in my gut, Ross, I'm not making a gut feeling,
but I'm just saying in my gut today,
I don't think we should ever close the book on Lance McCullors
if he returns, that he's returning in some sort of bullpen roll.
Not because he wants to, not because the Astros are telling him to,
I think the body may be dictating it more than anything else.
Yeah, we're dealing with incomplete information right now.
Right.
We don't know how close to 100% he is.
We don't know, I mean, we've heard some reports of Velo hitting 91 or whatever.
I mean, did you see a report on what pitches he was throwing and the velocities?
We don't know that.
We know that he got a couple strikeouts, so that's good.
Even though it sounded like he's against a bunch of kind of just guys, that's okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Other things from McTaggart, Christian Walker doing some more defensive drills today.
obviously that means not swinging just yet
uh... Kayla board had no issues after throwing 15 pitches yesterday.
Osal Tuvei and Cam Smith will play in split squad games in West Palm Beach tomorrow.
And Pedro Leon play catch, but I don't really care at this point.
I mean, no disrespect to Pedro.
Yeah, he's going to do it great for the Space Cowboys.
Space Cowboys legend.
Are they going to have his bobblehead with him at this point?
I think they should retire his number.
Well, that goes without saying.
I mean, that's already.
Locked and loaded.
We retire everybody's number now.
Let's get paid early on retire.
Let's go.
Yeah, but where do you put that?
I mean, do you put it in center field?
Do you put it where?
I mean, where's the proper place to retire.
I don't haven't been to that ballpark ever, actually.
You haven't?
I've been to more games there than you have.
How many of you been to?
One?
Oh, since it's been to this case, base Cowboys, Zero.
How about when they were the skaters all the time?
Yeah.
Oh, really?
Food.
Good food.
What are you doing in Sugar Land?
Yeah, I have people down there.
Volleyball?
No.
No, no.
My mom used to live.
live down there. Oh, okay. That's right. I forgot.
We go down there. All right, let's get the second
hour starting of the Matt Thomas show. We're only

My daughter plays.
Kids are playing both boys and girls.
It is one of the fastest growing sports, and it's indoors, which is really nice, too.
That's worry about the weather.
And most important, the action is spectacular.

Lunch timers.
This is the Matt Thomas show.
1101 on Sports Talk 790.
We take this program today until 1150,
where we send you to Fort.
To West Palm Beach for the Astros and the Nationals.
I believe they're playing the Nationals.
the ninth time in the last 13 days, Ross.
How many?
No, I'm just kidding. They just play them a bunch.
Okay.
Let's go Astros.
Have you broken down the starting lineup for today's game?
I didn't even see it, no.
I mean, you could.
I mean, I could run through the names for you,
but you'd be like, who?
What?
What do they do?
It's fine.
We got the game for you here on 790.
Rockets and Sons tonight.
We'll have it for you also here on 790,
beginning with the launch pet at 6 o'clock hosted by Ross Fielder Real.
It is?
I thought it was, no?
I hope not.
I don't think so.
You haven't worked for any of the Rockets games later.
I'm doing Friday and Saturday.
All right?
Okay, we'll go.
We'll get you back in the arena.
That'd be nice.
Okay.
Rockets against the Suns.
Houston has won three consecutive games.
This is a stretch where I want the Rockets to win six out of seven, and so far they're
halfway there.
Rockets again in the number five position in the west.
They're a game behind Memphis for the four spot.
Not too far away from the Lakers and the Nuggets for the two spot in the west.
And honestly, they're not too far away from drop it to seven.
So we don't need their sixth.
We don't need that either.
So it is a very, very tight race in the Western Conference.
713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90.
and on Twitter at SportsMT, at SportsRV,
and at Connor D. McGovern.
Anything else going on news headlines was I mentioned Rockets?
We mentioned the Astros.
All quiet on the Texans front, at least today.
We mentioned Shaq not knowing who the coach of the Pistons is
and then getting upset and saying he doesn't watch the Pistons.
And he called somebody to call out?
Yes, that is correct.
You ever been called boo-boo in your life, Ross?
Yes, many times, Matt.
It's not a compliment.
I mean, I understand if you call your girl Boo Boo, that's one thing.
It's kind of a sign of affection.
Wasn't there a boo-boo character?
Wasn't that Yogi Bear's best friend, Boo Boo Boo?
Well, you can call something Boo Boo.
That's also not good, Matt.
Oh, and I need to go look at Urban Dictionary?
No, it's just, I think you can figure it out.
Okay, by the way, ladies.
You're like babies boo-boo in their diaper?
Oh, I see.
I got you.
Hey, Matt, that fit you got on is boo-boo.
Ross, I need to do one thing for me.
This is so inside baseball for us.
During the break, I want you to go look at the Tyrese Halliburton four-point play that helped the Pacers.
I saw it.
And by the way, for those that didn't see it, there were four players lined up on, like, on an offensive line for the Pacers.
This is with four seconds left.
They all broke out, like, in receiving an offensive line, and then Halliburton goes to the left corner, launches a three.
Yannis Fowles him.
The shot goes in.
They win the game because Halliburton hits the free three.
So a four-point play at the buzzer literally wins the game.
Apparently we have it, by the way.
Okay.
Play this and then I'm going to give you this quick thing.
And again, this is more for inside baseball.
But continue on.
Let's get the call.
Pacers down three.
Halliburton's got the ball.
Halliburton rises.
And he's fouled.
You have got to be kidding me.
Here's my question, Ross.
Did he travel?
I'd have to, okay.
I didn't even look for that.
I can...
Let's see.
Catch.
It's such a great play.
Oh,
I don't think he bounces the ball.
It's very close.
It looks like it is a travel.
Let me see.
I don't have to break this down literally frame.
That's why I was like,
this is maybe two inside baseball for our show here.
But I looked at it, I was like, this is incredible.
And then I look and I see there is no basketball bouncing.
There is a slide.
And look, the slide step has been.
It's close.
It's super close.
Yeah, you let that go.
It looks like it might be three steps
depending on exactly when he catches the ball.
No, I'm letting it slide.
Incredible fading three shot.
Connor, you're the type of.
No, I think it's good.
I think it's good.
I would say in the moment,
there's no way in the world I would have ever called a travel.
And here we are sitting here looking at this thing.
You know, image by image.
I don't think it's travel.
Okay.
Yeah, I'm going, I have to go frame by frame.
Yeah, I don't think I want to do that.
If you have to go frame by frame to determine something, then the call can stand, right?
Yeah, I don't, I think it's not a travel.
Okay.
It's close to.
I would lean towards agreeing with you.
I just was like, am I missing?
Am I too caught up in the moment of being a great play to go, wait a minute, there was a fundamental mistake made by the official.
So let's see.
713-212.
5-790, 7-13,
212-5-7-90.
If you want to jump into the conversation,
you want to follow us on Twitter. You may do that as well.
Again, at SportsMT, at SportsRV, and
at Connor D. McGovern.
Let's go to the phones.
My phone system is down, so we'll talk to
John and Needville. Hi, John, you're on 7-90.
Good morning. Hey, guys.
Yeah, that play,
I saw it. I don't know.
It's too good of a shot.
Too good of a shot.
Then again, it's good shot and everything, but it's good play and everything.
But then again, that's the problem with the whole MDA.
That's why the NBA is the NBA now.
They don't call traveling, palming.
They bounce the ball over their heads.
They take four or five steps.
They flop.
They're divas.
Anyway, back to my original call.
Yesterday, you had a call or call in about Brickman.
And did he say he, and if I'm,
he knew the reasons why Bregman wasn't coming back.
Correct?
He said that he used to be the throw bullpen for those guys up until 2010.
Batting practice, yeah.
Batting practice until 2022.
And that he said that the real, let me recap, he said the reason why Alex Brebman did not come back is because he was tired of being a disrespect around baseball.
and he also said that they were disrespecting the other players the Astros did
like George Springer, Carlos Correa, not giving them deals
and he threw a name out there that's where I'm calling BS.
When did Beltron leave this organization with Scott Boris?
And when did Bregman get to the organization with Scott Boris?
2004 was Beltran and then what?
was Bregman called up, 15, 16?
Thank you. So how the hell does he know how Beltron was dealt with?
I mean, come on, dude. You put your, you put your foot in it yesterday. Y'all may not have caught it.
Oh, we caught it. Trust me. We caught. I had to get a call after me that I smirked and the guy was not happy that I smirked. So trust me, I caught it.
I heard the cat afterwards, too.
He was whining and crying of how you were smirking about.
That's your problem with this and that new radio host.
Dude, if you don't like it, change the channel.
Yeah, thanks, John.
We appreciate the phone call.
And I want to make sure we're very clear on this.
There is a difference between not being respected by the organization
because you feel like you're being underpaid.
That is separate from what the caller was telling me.
The caller was saying he was being disrespected because he's were in the Astro,
and when he goes to other places he gets booed and he wants to shake that out of his system.
That is 100% complete fooey.
If you're a major league baseball player, you're going to be booed in every ballpark no matter what
uniform you wear, especially if you carry the way that Alex Breggman carried himself early in his career.
And oh, by the way, the way that the Astros have the cheating scandal attached to them.
All of a sudden, Alex Breggman is not going to be able to go to Anaheim and play.
against the Angels wearing Boston Red Sox gear and all of a sudden people are like,
oh, that's pregnant with the Red Sox.
We forgot everything.
And if you think he's going to be able to go to New York and get treated any easier
because he's wearing Red Sox gear over Astro gear, you're high.
Now, if you want to say the Astros don't respect the players that got them to where they
are by not giving them long-term deals, I don't think the respect is a term I would use.
I would say there is a certain financial threshold the Astros are using.
And by the way, disrespecting is not offering deals.
Disrespecting is well under the market value.
And remember, Ross, and maybe you and I'll disagree on this.
The Red Sox went well above the market value for Alex Breggman.
And when you do that, you get to get the Alex Breggman.
But every other deal around baseball, for the most part,
was in line with what the Astros were willing to offer
Bregman to stay in Houston.
So I don't think it was a sign of disrespect.
It was a sign of the Red Sox said,
short-term deal, big cash, opt out.
Bregman's like, I love this opportunity.
I'm going to Boston.
Oh, the Detroit deal is better.
Not much better.
What's significantly different?
Was it $25 million more over six years?
The Astros deal was never going to be signed,
and they knew that.
They did undersell them.
Underselling is one thing.
Disrespecting is another.
No, I didn't say he was disrespected.
Yeah.
He felt disrespected, I think.
He also thought he probably felt disrespected by the Detroit Tigers, too.
He felt disrespectful by the Chicago Cubs too.
He probably felt disrespected by the New York Yankees or anybody else, the Seattle Mariner's.
I mean, the Detroit Tigers.
He thought he was going to get a deal way bigger than Matt Chapman's.
The Astros offered, what, only like $5 million more than Matt Chapman?
Yeah
Clearly his market wasn't as big as he thought it was going to be
But let me tell you something
I'm happy for breaks
He got what he really is going to do really well on this
And I'm glad for him
But the caller that called yesterday
Basically saying about
That he was tired of being disrespected
Around baseball is complete fully
Yes
And that's where I just
I can't
I can't
handle it. I just can't. And maybe I should be better about it. And Ross, that's what you're here for, is to make me better.
All right. The stews already been made. I don't know what I can add to it.
I'll have some more carrots. Real quick, before we get to shut your bum ass up. Ron and League City, good morning.
Hey, how you doing?
Amazing.
Hey, just a point of clarification. Beltran was on the 2017 World Series team because he was one of the ringleaders with the
advising this plan with Cora.
That's why Beltran didn't get that manager job with the Mets.
So just a little point of clarity there.
Hello.
Thank you, Ron.
Appreciate it.
Thank you, Ron.
Yeah, that's good.
I mean, we like information.
Uh-huh.
Information is key.
And Beltron was as guilty as it gets.
And Beltron was a manager for the Mets for how, what, two weeks?
Somewhere around there.
Met's legend.
Did he get to even make a decision about anything?
I don't.
I think he got his uniform size.
Yeah, I think he had to choose his number.
Yeah.
All right.
Rossi, it is time for people to shut their bum asses up.
Wonderful.
I can think of one person I want to shut their bum ass up.
Ooh.
You'll find out next.
Uh-oh.

Sports Talk 790.
Ain't nobody getting time.
Ain't nobody getting time for day.
Ain't nobody getting time for day.
Ain't nobody getting time for me.
And time for it.
1120, Sports Talk 790.
Time for us to tell some people
to shut your bum ass up, man.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
Or if someone is just talking
and talking and not letting you work
or not letting you get out because
you go get a haircut or go
get your dry cleaning and somebody at the office is telling you about this long drawn-out story
or your wife is telling you about this recipe for this castle she made and all that
e-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh- ain't anybody got time for that either.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-21-2-5-790.
We are your place for cathartic, non-judgmental shunning of people's bum-assets.
Here we go.
7-13-1-2-1-2-5-7-90.
I'm starting with a member.
the media, Ross.
Oh, what did I do?
Not you.
Although you've been plenty of this.
Jeff Goodman
is a basketball analyst
covers hoops and founder of
Field of 68.
He used to be a big deal, but then
his takes got so bad he got fired.
Some dude named
Drew Galloway took a photo
of his press credential.
He covers Kansas State
sports for on three sports.
Okay, that's fine.
He took a picture of his press credential.
He is high above the American Airlines Center in Dallas, or excuse me, in the Sprint
Center in Kansas City where the tournament is.
Goodman retweets him and says, this is why media shouldn't even bother going to the
Big 12 tournament.
Much more beneficial to just watch on television.
So poor Jeff Goodman doesn't get a mid-court seat to broadcast, to watch the media
or attend a sporting event.
when he probably has been to only three or four Big 12 games this entire season.
Jeff Goodman, shut your bum ass up, man.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
The people that should be down there close to the game are A, the regular beatwriters,
B, the broadcasters, they get a decent view of things,
and C, the fans who actually paid their own money to go watch their team playing Kansas City.
I, media, you suck.
Jeff Goodman, you suck.
Stop complaining about your free press credential and your free arena and your travel expenses taken care of.
You have to sit in the upper deck.
Oh, poor is you.
It's a 16-team tournament in a 17,000-seat arena.
Get over it.
Shut your bum-ass up.
Shut your bum-ass up, man.
It's terrible.
I mean to go after our own, but I'm just, I mean, we got some entitled media.
I mean, I'm entitled to a certain extent.
I'm trying to broadcast a game.
I don't need to be doing it from the Love Field Tower in Dallas
to broadcast a Maverick's game, but that's a different issue for a different time.
You poor baby.
It is poor. I can't see the game.
That's a difference.
You're doing a great job.
Thank you.
We're all proud of you.
Ross, what's the matter with you?
You know what?
I'm going to go to our good friend Screaming A. Smith.
He got into the altercation with LeBron James.
We all saw the video.
He didn't say one word to his face.
about anything. He tries to say, oh, that wasn't the time or the place.
LeBron is right in your face talking to you. And now he's going on like eight shows.
He's done like eight State of the Union addresses about it.
And he's building this all up and using this as a trampoline to get himself some more shine.
And you didn't say anything to LeBron's face.
Ain't nobody got time for that. Stephen A. Smith.
I'll go one further.
Shut your bum ass up, Stephen A. Smith.
Don't tell me about your life story with you and LeBron.
Nobody cares.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
And shut your bum ass up, LeBron James.
You've got a problem with Stephen A. Smith.
Call him.
You knew what you were doing by going out there and antagonizing him during the game.
You wanted people to see him and take video of it.
You could have called Stephen A and said you had a problem with the way he's talking about Brownie.
But no, you want to make sure people saw you.
So shut your bum ass up.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
God, I love this segment.
It's good.
y'all want to jump in let's go 713212 5790 713 212 570
Connor what's the matter with you
you guys are kind of fiery this morning mine's a little bit more low-key it's kind of
specific to to my situation in my age I've been looking to try and book
a beat kind of like a beach house thing for a weekend
and I'm looking on Airbnb and scam and they require a lot of the places require
you to be 25 and up for
booking and I'm 24.
So again, unique to my situation.
But most of the time you can just email
the owner and just be like, hey, I'm 24.
I don't have them as many people and usually it's okay.
But we found this one that we really liked.
It was nice and cheap, but it looked nice.
It was close to the beach.
Had all the flights ready to go.
And I messaged them.
And they said, no, I couldn't book it because I was 24, not 25.
So anybody got time for that.
I have good rating on Airbnb.
Why?
If you're trying to deter college students, make it 23 then.
Like the bars and the heights.
ain't nobody got tied for that.
Ain't nobody got time for that?
Now, so you're telling me some Airbnbs are 25 and some or not.
Is that what you're telling us?
A lot of them on Airbnb are you have to be 25 to book.
Because you said you got a good rating.
How do you have a good rating if you've not been able to rent before?
I've done, I mean, I have a good rating on Verbo.
And then I have done Airbnb before.
And some of them are 18 or like I've said, you've messaged them before.
And you're like, hey, I'm 23. I'm 24.
Oh, I see.
Yeah.
I ran in that same problem as a young broadcast when I used to try to rank cars
is when I was calling games before I was 25,
I couldn't get a rental car,
and then they would charge a $50 surcharge
because I was under 25.
That's because you young kids are unpredictable.
Yeah, when's your birthday?
December 1st.
Oh, dang.
Happy birthday, man.
Yeah.
So there's just, nobody got time for that.
Poor guy.
Yeah.
I mean, we kind of feel bad for you?
Not really.
I understand.
And a lot of people listening are not,
You can't really relate, but
Why don't you lie in the age
About how old you are they?
I'm going to check your ID, are they?
I guess that's true.
Let me tell you somebody.
In life, just lie a little bit.
Yeah.
Everybody tell you the average person lies four times a day.
The Matt Thomas Life, Book of Life.
It's Chapter 1, lying.
I mean, as long as you don't destroy the property,
you're going to be a good shape.
And, I mean, I don't know your crew,
but I've met your girl, and you don't seem like that.
Do they take your ID on Airbnb or anything like that?
That's what I don't think so.
Definitely for Carverment.
It would make sense.
They did, yeah.
Yeah.
By the way, Matt, Brian McTaggart saying
Lance McCuller Jr. said he hit 94 miles
an hour on the goal.
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.
Great Fruit League game Tuesday.
You better ice that bad boy down.
Stop.
He's fine.
So, me, you're telling me he's going to play in a real game?
Uh, he's next step is a great fruit league game.
Schedule.
They're looking at Tuesday.
targeting Tuesday.
Okay.
We may have to do a live listening on that bad boy.
Is it a day game or a night game? I don't even know.
I don't know. I'm going to guess a day game, but who knows?
Point being is, all right. Okay, well, that's great news.
I'm still saying May 15th, and I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm way too late.
I told you to be optimistic, Matt.
Well, they call me up Mr. Optimistic.
Well, he could get elbow discomfort on Tuesday. We'll see.
Now, don't put that in there. That's not.
You're saying he could.
I'm not saying he's going to.
Okay.
All right.
We can take it short time out.
We'll come back.
We've got another second before we get to Astros baseball.

Yes bro.
Home of your astros.
1134 sports talk 790 final segment of shut your bum ass up you got something you want to get to let it be known now of
Hold your piece.
713212-5-790.
7-1-3-2-1-2-7-190 if you want to get in on that.
I hate to do this, Ross, but I got to tell the commissioner of the Big 12th
conference to shut his bum ass up.
Let's go.
He wants to expand the NCAA tournament.
Yeah.
You're all going to get more money.
Are we doing this for financial?
Are we doing it because it makes us feel better that our confidence,
our mid-level teams get into the incidentally tournament?
It's for money.
I just, and he's going to the card of, well, it helps out the mid-major teams.
Well, you know what?
You're not a mid-main.
We're a power-four conference.
76 teams for a national championship.
Can you imagine that?
You're looking for the one best team in the country.
And you're using 76 teams to find the one best team in the country.
How absurd does that sound?
He says, take the top net 60 teams and the other 16 low major conference automatic qualifiers.
So teams like Pittsburgh, Nebraska, and North Texas can get in.
I mean, come on.
What are we doing?
I mean, what are we doing?
When did we in the world of sports just say we have to change everything?
Now, most of the change in sports of the last 25 years has been for the better,
but some things have not.
I mean, you know what it is, Ross?
It is about money because it's an extra layer of games.
It's an extra layer of bets for Las Vegas.
I don't mind that.
I know, but promise, I don't...
Betting on basketball is just, it's not fun for me.
I don't have any enjoyment whatsoever.
I bet some college games when I was in New Orleans last week.
it's not fun.
It's just not.
Because you could have one team
blown somebody out by 22 points.
The line is 15.
They put their scrubs in
and they went up winning by 14 points.
Yeah, tournament's fun though.
Tournament's different because every game is an elimination
game.
Maybe so.
It's better.
Maybe so.
I'm just,
look, we've gone through,
we've gone from a 17 NFL schedule.
We're going to get an 18.
We've gone from
we're going to get an automatic ball strike system in place here,
which probably hasn't been terrible.
We haven't heard much about it, actually.
I guess the news is if we don't hear much about it,
it's got to be working okay.
We've seen uniform changes.
We've seen logo change.
We've seen stadiums change.
We've now have additional 14 more teams in tournament.
There's a 76 would be what, eight more teams?
I guess eight is subtle, Ross.
If it goes in 96
where it completes a whole brand new bracket,
we can just probably just quit and stop watching.
Right?
It's ridiculous.
68 is already too many, quite frankly.
Although those playing games,
I mean, that's a layer of TV dollars.
It just is.
And if the NCAA is going to pay,
if these networks T&T and CBS are going to pay a billion dollars here,
what's a billion five among friends that add ten more teams that nobody cares about
in the hopes that maybe one or two of those teams create some sort of surprise?
Yeah.
You know what, let's do it actually.
That way Texas can get in.
By the way, are you guys still first four out?
I don't know.
I don't care.
They're dogs later today to Vanderbilt.
Where's the Texas basketball watch party?
It's at the, it's also, actually it's a tandem.
It's the Fire Rodney Terry and Texas basketball watch party.
You know what I'm hoping for now, honestly, now is for you guys to win the tournament.
So we get the SEC tournament?
Yeah, the SEC tournament.
Yeah.
You're not one in the NCAA.
I mean, there's no chance of that.
Yeah, and I'm also going to win the Powerball and the Mega Millions this week.
Now, wait a minute, you're telling me that Texas can't put together four amazing days of basketball?
No.
Okay, you're probably right.
But I bet you why, I get you, if you get to the championship game, you'll get in.
I don't care.
Oh, like I said, I want Trey Johnson to make it.
He's a great player, and he's a five-star player who chose Texas,
and he deserves better.
But other than that, whatever.
All right, the two big names that are being brought up
as potential Texas replacements for Ronnie Perry.
If indeed he gets bumped.
Okay.
Billy Donovan.
What?
Of the Chicago Bulls, formerly of Oklahoma City, and before that, Florida.
I would take that.
And Quinn Snyder, the current coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
Quinn wasn't even...
Quinn was mid at Missou, wasn't he?
Just saying
Just saying
What is Quinn's greatest accomplishment as a coach?
You taught of the playoffs a few times
Yeah
It was like he needed sleep in the worst way
He always just looks like the
The chevaled
The evil henchman in a kid's movie
Yeah
I think back in the day
He was on one of Kim's top five list
I'll tell you
I've heckled Quinn
Quinn Snyder.
When he was a player or as a coach?
When he was at Mizzou.
You heckled him?
Yes.
You were a grown-ass man.
Were you not?
I was in the student section.
I was in college.
Oh, see, we're not a grown-ass man.
You were an immature punk kid.
That's, yeah, that's a true story.
Me and the whole student section.
And what was your best heckle?
I don't even remember.
I was just, we were just saying Quinn and yelling at Quinn.
And what are you doing, Quinn?
shut up, Quinn, stuff like that.
Oh, so the really good material then you used.
Yeah.
All right.
I was on the side of the student section that was pretty close to him,
and we were just all yelling at Quinn.
My worst heckle was the Dodgers reliever Don Assi, A-A-S-E,
calling him something that was not his last name.
Oh, geez.
And unfortunately, he passed a couple of years later.
Not the piss of my insult, but just in general.
Mm-hmm.
I'm not a heckler.
Yeah, I mean, I was 20.
probably 21.
Probably not sober.
It's compared to where you are 20 years later.
I am sober right now.
You are. That's right.
As you're watching, can I text you during the Texas basketball game today?
Is that okay?
Just giving up to say, how are you feeling, that kind of stuff?
If you start before the game and then text throughout, I'll let you do it.
If I only hear from you if they lose, I'm going to want to choke you out.
All right.
You're the best.
I won't do it.
I'm not, you're not getting anything for me.
All right, back to wrap things up here on the program in a matter of moment.
713-212-5-790.
Ross, you want to tell the folks about synergenics?
Yeah, I want to tell the folks about turning their life around.
