Lunch timers.
This is the Matt Thomas show.
10.01 in Houston, good morning, everyone.
And welcome to a Friday edition of the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
This is Sports Talk 790.
I guess I would have to go, I would choose dudes on dudes.
I'm not going to be happy about it.
Clip that right now.
Clip it.
We're the thickest, biggest I've ever seen in my entire life.
I literally had my vertebrae.
sore for like a half an hour. I mean, I guess
you know what, I could do walking bets.
That's going to be a jiggle we don't want to see.
I'll let you be my status bitch
if you want to sometimes. Someday I would love
to. I can't do it one day a year? Come on.
No, I'll give it to you one day a year.
You can clip that. Or just have to suck it up and go
you know what? He sucks,
but he's our suck guy.
Turkey Trutton. And he's found a woman that makes him
run. Gobble, gobble, gobble. I don't care
what they do in their bedroom.
My God. That may be a
best of that last one.
Yikes.
I thought the vertebrae one was the best of.
Can I request to hear that?
I don't even remember this.
What was the context on this?
It was the speed bumps at Summer Creek.
And I cut out when he said speed bumps.
Okay.
Okay.
So you manipulated that one a little bit.
Yeah, this wasn't do it again.
We're the thickest, biggest I've ever seen in my entire life.
I literally had my vertebrae sore for.
for like a half an hour.
Okay, you took speed bumps out.
Yeah.
Okay.
That feels a little like dirty pool, but that's okay.
No, no, no.
We fully encourage that.
Everything is fair game.
It's a day that goes Friday.
That's exactly what that is right there.
Oh, Connor McGarver, we don't pay you enough.
We're going to miss you when you leave us eventually.
It is the Matt Tobis show with Ross.
I'm coming here today from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where it's rainy,
It's dreary.
And the Rockets are going to take on the 7-1 thunder tonight right here on Sports Talk 790.
You want to get you some popcorn, get your cold soda or two.
Maybe something little stronger if you want to.
Sit back and listen and catch some outstanding NBA basketball tonight right here on 790.
Is that correct, Ross Field of Real?
Yes, can't wait.
Nothing else going on a Friday night.
Let's go.
Let's go with Rockets.
All right.
Yeah, who is the host of tonight's launch pad?
That would be one Dan Matthews today and, I believe, Sunday after I did Monday and Wednesday.
So we're basically splitting duties at this point.
Nice, nice.
All right, it is an anything goes Friday, as is the case every Friday we've had in the history of this radio show,
which means you get to dial in it 713, 212, 570.
719. 713, 212, 790.
And Ross explained to the audience, especially the 10 o'clockers, the essence of an anything
goes Friday. Yes, Matthew, now we're on two hours earlier, but that doesn't change the game on a
Friday. You can talk about anything you want to get into on the phone lines at 713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90. Of course, as Matt has mentioned, the Rockets and the Thunder will be playing
tonight. Of course, we do have the Houston Texans taking on the Detroit Lions. It's a battle
Red Sunday, Sunday night
football. We've been waiting all day for
Sunday night. I'm excited for the
Texans to be on a national stage, and
hopefully they don't embarrass the city of Houston like
they did on Prime Video a Thursday
ago. In the uniforms
they're wearing the red helmets, the red pants, I believe
they're going to go with the red tops. Those
look very good. Those are probably my favorite of
everything. Yeah, I like the all-battle-reds, and I
like those battle red helmets as well.
Yeah, everything else the Texans were, and
I don't know, I'll, I'm just
a realist here.
Hater.
Everything else looks like the Atlanta Falcons.
These will be definitely Houston, Texas uniforms.
I'm just saying.
Okay.
That's your opinion, man.
And I don't think I'm by myself in this.
I may not be in a majority,
but I'm certainly, the minority is a lot longer than like 2%.
Put it that way.
Okay.
We can also talk about the Baltimore Ravens versus Cincinnati Bengals.
Al Michaels finally woke up for a game,
and it was important and it was good.
First of all, that game was outstanding.
Secondly, we got to do something about this officiating, Rossi.
We had not one, but two missed calls on the very last play of the game.
And it feels like to me, and maybe just because we're in the heat of the moment right now,
the NFL officials are, and maybe it's just because it's the Thursday night games,
we're getting some very bad miss calls.
Final play of the game, Cincinnati is going to go for the win after scoring a touchdown,
go for the two point, win the game.
The quarterback, obviously, Joe Burrell, takes a snap, drops back, throws to the right corner,
incompletes the pass.
The tight end is it Guseki, or is it the second receiver?
Gaseki is he a tight end or is he more like a second receiver?
Gaseki is, well, kind of both.
He is their tight-in, but Eric Altor is ACL.
They like to run him in the slot.
So he is technically a tight-in, but they like to use him as a slot receiver.
Yeah, he's a really big receiver.
He was held on the play.
No if-ans or butts.
He was one.
Uh-uh.
Don't even.
On the very last play of the game?
The very last play.
Watch.
Re-watch it.
Re-watch it.
He flops.
He jumps up and throws his arm up.
It's a flop from Gaseki.
All right.
I'm going to go look.
Yeah.
I'm going to look.
Okay. Now he's held, he's held at the line of scrimmage, which you can do. That's legal.
Once the ball, you're on five yards. You've got five yards. Once the ball leaves Burroughs hands, you have to let go.
Watch him. He just throws his arm up, and it's kind of a flop. To me, I'm okay with that no call.
But Joe Burrow definitely gets hit on the face.
Joe Burrow got two face masking calls should have been called against the Ravens.
Now, the first one didn't matter because they wound up scoring a touchdown anyway.
the second one, which was the final play of the game,
he got his face mask grabbed.
That's another play.
Now you got me inquisitive about the Gaseki or whatever.
No, I'm with you because my head hit the pillow thinking my Gaseki got mulled on that play.
But when you watch the replay, he gets chucked at the line of scrimmage, which is legal.
And then there's kind of a minor tug of the jersey, which is also, I believe, legal within five yards.
And then he watching it, he kind of flops.
He pulls a soccer flop on that play.
Okay, well, I'm going to go back and look because I'll be brutally honest with you.
I did not.
Post-game shows do nothing for me.
They had the officials that Terry McCauley, I think, works the Amazon broadcast.
And he said the exact same thing now.
He's in the heat of the moment, too.
So I don't know exactly it.
But I'll, you know, I will do this because I'm a...
I will send it to you right now, Matthew.
Okay.
And you know what's your name?
I trust you.
You're not making it up.
No, yeah.
But at first blush, it looks like there's a clear hold.
I'm with you.
first blush, I was like, how do they miss that?
This is ridiculous. But the face masking
was clearly a face mask. Absolutely, clearly
a face mask. But Gaseki
went soccer flop. He went soccer
flop. Well, if he does, and he's the
D of the week, if he does that, because I was getting ready to
defend the Bengals in that last play.
Now, granted, Joe Burrow
he, you know,
he got the face mask. There's nothing he can do about that.
By the way, he's getting beat up.
I know we've got a lot of LSU fans that listen
to show, Rossi.
Joe Burrow needs, he needs
some help just like C.J. Straught need some help.
That kid's going to get hit. He's not going to be able to survive a season.
Yeah.
He has been, he was beaten up. He was like holding his hand, his right, his left hand, I think
of right hand or whatever it was, trying to pick up his helmet. He looks like he's battered
and bruised. Now he's damn good. That was a damn good football game.
Oh, it was great. The, a little bit of the third quarter and all the fourth quarter.
those are high-contained unbelievable offenses
just when you think Lamar Jackson is going to take that step back
and it's going to throw the untimely interception,
which he did throw one late in the game,
but he led a large drive,
and then Jamar Chase and Joe Burrell looked like they were best friends.
It was like Montana to Rice all over again.
That was finally a Thursday night game that you sat back and went,
damn, I want more of that,
because mostly these Thursday night games,
not every one of them, but most of them have sucked.
Yes.
And we blame it because it's Thursday because of the quality of the football.
They don't have enough time to recover.
But, I mean, last night was an example.
If you put two really good teams on Thursday night football,
they can still perform and give you an entertaining game.
And I still believe this, and this may be a very small minutiaeathing.
I think the NFL would be smart to keep the travel for the road team to be within like an hour,
hour and a half tops.
I don't think it does any favors for the Texans to have to get on a plane.
and get up to New York so early.
That's three and a half hours up there.
I mean, you don't sneak your way around to New York quickly.
I think having Minnesota go to Los Angeles and play was kind of stupid.
I think you keep in not necessarily in the division,
but a Houston-Dalice game would be a perfect Thursday-night game.
Easy travel, get up there fast.
It doesn't really, because you need every minute of rest possible.
And, you know, since you to Baltimore is maybe an hour flight,
maybe an hour 15 tops.
I think the proof of the pudding is,
keep these teams close, make them divisional matchups,
so they really give a damn about them.
And they also meant a lot more.
Yeah, well, Prime Video keeps cutting the checks for these terrible games,
and you give them a couple of good ones.
And that's the thing, though, too, because NBC wants great games,
ESPN wants great games, and there's only so many to go around.
And one last thing, that thoughts and prayers to anybody facing Jamar Chase
and or Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson in their fantasy league.
Yeah, a member of the 790 family, we can say his name, Dan Matthews,
I think it's already scored 600 points and has only used one game towards his point numbers.
Yeah, that is correct.
Yet another reason why.
Wow, come on.
Another reason why is because Jamar Chase went off?
You're just making up excuses now.
That's probably accurate.
I do have McPherson the kicker for the Bengals, and he didn't get me a fifth extra point because they didn't go for it.
All right, you know what?
I need you to find somebody to replace you in this league.
As commissioner, I demand you find somebody to replace you, and they need to be as bad at Fantasy
football as you are.
I don't know.
I've won some money over the years.
Why do you keep saying that?
You're spreading bad, vicious rumors.
And I may not have a championship.
But you know what I am?
I'm the Houston Texans of fantasy football.
I've got to the playoffs once in a while.
You've got three tight ends on your team.
Not right now.
I don't.
See, you don't even know who's on your roster.
No, I don't.
No, do I care.
I'm trying to trade the Packertin'
and crap.
And no one wouldn't even respond to my message.
Well, yeah, you should have traded him after his 20-point
week.
Mm-hmm.
All right, on the radio program today, 11 o'clock, we're going to talk to the voice of the Detroit Lions.
Dan Miller is going to be with us in about 45 minutes from now.
We've got that coming up.
We will wake the strippers up at 12 noon, and people are like, what are you going to do with the strippers?
Well, they're asleep right now.
There's no way I'm waking them up.
I can get them up in an hour and a half, but not right now.
Leave them be.
Yeah.
Also, today on the radio program, we're going to have non-Florida stories.
We'll have, believe it or not.
And Ross, we've got a few other things to get to, including will Nico even pull.
practice this week? Will he play? I mean, it doesn't sound like it's going to happen.
What's going to happen with the Astros as this Bob Nightingale story about Alex
Bredman going to second base has opened up a bunch of opportunities, perhaps for teams that
we're looking for second baseman. Will Ryan Presley be talked about as a potential trade chip
as well for the Astros? And we have the Rockets against Oklahoma City. So a busy Friday night
edition, Friday morning edition, that is, of the Matt Thomas show with Ross. I'm here in Oklahoma
City. Ross is back in Houston.
713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-21-2-5-790.
Stay with us until 2 o'clock today here on Sports Talk 790.
No fear.
No worries.
And no hair.
It's the Matt Thomas Way.
Houston Sports Talk continues with the Matt Thomas Show.
1021.
It is a Matt Thomas show with Ross here from Oklahoma City.
We'll visit with the Voice of the Lions coming up at 11 o'clock today.
All right.
So I looked at the tweet you sent, and Gassanke absolutely flopped rather easily.
Maybe I should start watching these NFL postgame shows.
Maybe they would have talked about it more.
But, yeah, that was terrible.
He hooks in an arm like James Hardin down the lane.
Did you see the comments to the tweet that you sent me?
Oh, no, I didn't.
I don't normally look at comments of tweets these days, quite frankly,
because it's all bots and idiots.
Right.
90% of them were about LeBron James.
Oh, really?
Oh, okay.
That's funny.
Is LeBron, I mean, does LeBron James, is he the, does he, is he considered the greatest flopper of all time?
No, I wouldn't put him close.
I would say, number, well, first of all, number one for me is Mano Ginobli.
Yeah.
Mono Genoblee is the OG, one of the all-time greats.
Carl Malone was a huge flopper back in the day.
I mean, I guess LeBron has some, I think maybe LeBron's flops were on like bigger stages,
but I would say like most consistent flopping.
Like Chris Paul flops every trip down the court.
I think LeBron, I think LeBron does have some flops, but I don't think he flops every day.
James Harden flops every time down the court.
Luca Donchich flops every time down the floor.
And here's the thing I don't get with today's athletes.
And that could be certainly what we saw last night in the game because, I mean, Gaseki,
I felt bad for him until I saw it on replay.
But in the NBA, every game is nationally televised.
Meaning you can go on League Pass and watch every game if you want it to be paid for,
or at least locally you have the games on if you're a fan of a particular team.
You can't get away with flopping anymore.
You cannot.
It's impossible to get away with flopping.
And they don't catch it right away in the game as it's happening.
The NBA is going to come after you and find you.
They're going to get you because they don't want to.
any more of it. But yet today's
players Rossi in 2024
still do it. Well, the
NBA said they were going to crack down on it.
I mean, when's the last time you remember
hearing about a fine for flopping?
There are probably 50 flops
in every game, and I don't, I mean,
I know there's been one or two that
probably aren't coming off the top of my head,
but you never hear any about anything.
There's no repercussions.
What is a fine for a flop? $5,000,
something like that? No, hopefully
more than that. I don't think it's
very much.
Yeah, honestly.
It's not much to
it's never going to be much relative
to what these players are making.
Oh my God, it's even less.
I thought you undersold it.
$2,000?
That's worth it.
That's pocket change.
That's less than pocket change
for these players.
I have to be unfortunate, very real
of the audience.
What Ross is saying is 100% right.
It's literally
pocket change.
Looks like it did happen
It happened 10 times last year.
I didn't even know that 10 players got fined.
All right.
Well, there you go.
Josh, Cody, Jordan Clarkson, Paul, George.
Oh, Jalen Brunson, Christops, Prerzingis.
Like, it's been a few.
Not a who's-hous list, put it that way.
I mean, Brunson is obviously very good, but the rest of the guys are just okay.
All right.
And as anything goes Friday here on this Friday edition of the Matt Thomas show, Ross.
713, 212-579.
If you want to jump in, 7-13-212-5-7-9.
I don't know how many of you watch the Cincinnati Baltimore game,
but it gave me pause that we could have a great Thursday night game
and we got it last night, so that was nice to see.
What else is going on in the world of sports?
The injury report came out, like I said, after our show yesterday,
no sign of Nico Collins on there.
There's, I mean, we can go ahead and say it, right?
There's no way to know how no chance he's playing for Sunday, correct?
No, yeah, it's done.
It's done.
They didn't even activate his practice window.
He can't play.
So when did, and maybe we got to dial up Aaron here and find what's going down here because it doesn't.
He said checked all the boxes 100% ready to go.
I was like, well, okay.
I got excited.
It would be like Ross.
Oh, here.
I'm trying to.
Let's go.
I love it.
I'm ready.
I'm ready.
I don't know.
Anytime I hear you go, it would be like, and then I'm like, oh, here we go.
This is a roller coaster ride.
I don't know what to expect.
It's like a mystery box.
Could be good.
Could be.
What are you got?
Go ahead.
Do it.
Okay.
This is terrible.
You just came back from a long trip.
Okay.
It off to get over the jet lake.
Well, yeah.
I'm going right into coming back to work like an idiot, by the way.
Okay.
And then you say, well, I don't think I can go back to work the next day because I still need another day a jet leg.
I've got more jet leg.
He's fine, but he's not ready to test it, which is bizarre.
Hmm.
Either that or just Aaron got it wrong.
Which can happen.
He said past all 10.
Maybe he's on track and feeling, I don't know.
We'd have to go back to the wording again because the wording of ready to go was not accurate.
How in the hell are you supposed to play a game with the most high-act-int offense in the NFL
when you have one legitimate downfield threat?
Xavier Hutchinson you're talking about?
Go ahead and try one more time.
Oh, man.
Here we go. I got it.
Go.
Texans W.R.1.
Nico Collins has passed all tests for hamstring.
No setbacks per league sources.
Regained speed. Mobility ready to go.
Matter of when, not if he'll be designated for return.
Team's still determining if activating him for a lion's game.
So he's ready to go, but maybe sometimes teams will say,
hey, we want to tell us when you're ready to go,
and then we'll give you another week with the hands game.
hamstring type of deal.
I mean, I guess I can't, I mean, how can we argue that?
I mean, but the thing is you would probably hold him out if it was like Jacksonville or something.
This is Detroit.
I told you, the inverse can be true.
If you're going to lose, how do you think, if Nico Collins is there, are they probably still going to lose to the alliance?
Oh.
So if he's not going to help you win, then what's the difference?
If you're saying that in the building, that's my favorite term of the day, in the building,
they'll never say it publicly,
and they're certainly going to coach to win the game,
but in their mind they're thinking it's not going to be great.
It's kind of like a Popovich used to do this.
When Tim Duncan and Tony Parker and all them were on their last legs,
he would arrest them against really good teams
because that's a 50-50.
You make a 50-50 game of 51-49 game.
So what?
If you can make a 60-40 game, a 70-30 game,
then that's better.
I don't know that's what's happening here.
I'm just, we're just talking.
I don't think it's a terrible assessment,
thinking that even if Nico at 80%, 90%,
which isn't going to make that big of a difference.
It's like we're going to get crushed anyways.
So maybe we want to start watching a Netflix show on Sunday night
as it's a period of watching the Texans.
I will be watching.
And is that line still holding it three and a half?
Oh, it's a four.
That makes sense.
Oh, no, no, it's a three and a half still.
Hmm.
Wow.
I, hmm.
Well, you know Texas Darlene's going because she wants to get on camera as much as possible.
Well, yeah.
You're going to get your spiked shoulder pads going, Maddie, and be ready to go with the game?
I'll be on the way back from Detroit, so I will not be able to be in attendance for the game.
Okay.
Well, hopefully you win, rolling them bones.
But I'll be there in spirit.
I'll tell you that for sure.
1029 on the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
It isn't anything goes Friday.
Anything you want to get to, whether it be the Texan.
Mexins, Rockets versus Grizzlies tonight, whether it be the rumors of a couple of things baseball related on the Astros.
We'll get to that in a moment.
713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-790 1029 on Sports Talk 790.
Stop that wave.
Busting the wave since the stroves were in the dome.
Who are you going to call?
Wave Busters.
Houston Sports Talk continues.
With the Matt Thomas Show.
Time is 1035.
It isn't anything goes Friday on the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
I'm here in Oklahoma City.
Ross back in Houston.
You guys, thank you very much.
And ladies, for listening to our show every day.
We appreciate that.
We are now on in day number four of our 10-2 spot.
The first take show is in Atlanta today, Rossi.
Why?
I think they're just HBCU celebration of schools.
Ah, okay.
So, not that we're doing Atlanta sports talk here, but just a real quick blush answer on this one.
Stephen A's top five Atlanta pro athletes of all time.
Number five, Michael Vic.
Number four, Chipper Jones.
Number three, Dominique Wilkins.
Number two, Hank Aaron, number one, Dion Sanders.
Do you have any issues with that list and the way they are ordered?
I mean, I just, I'm going to plead ignorance on how long did Dion Sanders play?
in Atlanta. I know he played with the Cowboys and with the Niners and...
Well, he was a... He was a brave and a falcon at the same.
Okay. Oh, was he at both of the... I know he was a red. He was a falcon. I mean, a brave as well?
Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I think so, yeah.
I should double... Five season with the Falcons as I pull it up.
Over now. Hank Aaron...
Hmm.
Hank Aaron also didn't play his whole career in Atlanta.
No, it started Milwaukee. That's right.
Hmm. Where does Clint Capella fit on this?
Hey, now. How about Swartz, but...
Web. Yeah, she put some respect
on his name. Yeah.
Okay, so now that's the first one.
That was the first list. And then
they have some rapper on named T.I.
You never heard of T.I. Matt?
No.
Oh, come on, man. What you know about that?
I guess nothing.
This is top five Atlanta rappers
according to Complex.
This is now I'm really
interested. Way more than the sports. Go ahead.
Number five, GZ.
Okay.
Number four, Gucci-May.
Can I guess number one?
No.
Okay, go ahead.
Yeah, go ahead.
Andre 3000.
That is correct.
Yes.
Number three, T.I.
Number two, future, and number one, Andre, 3000.
So, Big Boy, not in there at all.
That's kind of disrespectful.
I think, I was thinking the exact same thing.
Run through the list again?
Five GZ.
for Gucci
May
3 TI
2 Future 1 Andre
3,000
I don't know if I have
Matt
Do you have
Ti I had a Gucci
I don't think I do
No I put Gucci at 3
Yeah no love for young thug
No love for
Ludacris
Ludacris
Those are all Atlanta rappers
Yes
Killer Mike
I like Killer Mike
I like Run the Jules
You know, I hate to say this
Because I don't know the answer to this
But does Atlanta's rap game better than Houston's
Oh, absolutely nationally
Nationally, it's well, way more respected
You hear that?
You hear that?
What?
You hear what?
Ross, everybody, Ross, he's Houston
You know what I don't like when I say something that's unbiased and truthful
And then people come after me
I'm sorry that I have unbiased opinions
I'm not like some people
Maybe they're two to six
to where if you're not from Houston, you're going to trash him and call them stiffs,
and this is the worst.
Why you talk about what's so that way?
Come on, now don't do that.
If you want to just be a homer about everything and that's how you want to live your life,
that's fine.
I would hope you people know if you want an unbiased opinion,
I will give it to you whether you like it or not.
Atlanta rappers, greater than Houston rappers.
Sorry.
Well, thankfully, on my phone, I have a mix of both.
You don't.
Name five Houston rappers.
Bun?
From Port Arthur?
You know what?
I'm going to keep the rest of my favorites to myself.
Okay.
Is this like when you ask a certain president
his favorite Bible verse?
Let me.
Oh, also Travis Scott.
Okay.
Missouri City, he counts, I guess.
He counts more than Fort Arthur, I feel like.
Yeah, of course he counts.
I'm going to have to tap out.
I don't know after that.
Okay.
I should have bun call the show.
You know, we should have bun call to see it.
I would say greatest of all times got to be Scarface, Matt, as you know.
Of duh.
Then it depends on where you fit in Megan the stallion.
Little Kiki as far as, a little Kiki is a little Kiki of the Dawn legendary.
I'll put zero in the top five.
Okay.
Fat Pat had a short...
Now, Bunby and Pimpsie are in
if you're counting Port Arthur, Texas as Houston, Texas.
Well, how about my favorite?
My new favorite.
How about Childish Gambino?
Childish Gambino is...
That is Donald Glover, and I think he's from Atlanta.
Okay, that was talking about Atlanta, of course.
Okay.
Or at least he starred in the show, Atlanta.
Is that where he's from?
I don't know.
Well, I mean, you get these things mixed up.
And Don Glover, I believe, retired Childish Gambino.
By the way, Donald Glover, a successful rapper, successful stand-up comedian, and successful actor and producer.
It's not fair.
Wasn't he in the movies with Mel Gibson, too?
No.
Donald Glover?
That's, no, that's somebody else.
Okay.
Let's move on.
We gave this way more time when I thought we were going to do, but we're a four-hour show.
What are you going to do?
See, Matt, you got to keep that at mind.
We can have you break down the top five Atlanta rappers.
We got time, baby.
All right.
So, a listener of ours, Pollard's vision on Twitter sent me this.
Oh, I have him muted.
I wonder what he said.
Well, I'm going to tell you, be nice.
At least Pollard's Vision isn't that douchback coach from Cy Ranch or whatever he's right.
I'm entering my 40s.
I'm going to stop being nice to everybody.
I'm going to stop being so nice.
I like it.
This deal with Nico is BS.
He is 100% ready to go.
D'Amico is saving an excuse for when they get rolled by the lions.
He can say we were not at full strength.
C.J. should be pissed.
agree or disagree.
Oh, God.
You know what?
I'm going to go ahead and say that's a validated mute.
That is a ridiculous take.
They're holding back, Nico.
They're holding back their number one wide receiver
that is 100% healthy and ready to go
so they can have an excuse when they lose.
Are we serious?
That's one of my best mute decisions of all time.
Yeah, I don't think they're holding him back.
I just don't think that he's as close
as we were originally told.
You okay with that?
Or maybe he, as I said, like, you can get close on a hamstring,
but they want you to be close for,
well, you want you to be ready to go and then give you more time
because re-injury is, there's a high percentage of re-injury
with the soft tissue injuries.
Well, once a hammy, always a hammy, right?
Especially for receivers who have to run in large sprints
and a bunch of times when the course of the game.
That's one of the Ten Commandments.
Yeah, I don't think as much as I,
I don't think that Nico would have been a huge difference.
I think Detroit's still better.
I don't think they're intentionally going,
yeah, relax.
And they wouldn't use it a excuse.
If they lose, if the Lions beat the Texans on Sunday 27 to 14,
they're not going to say, well, things would have been different if Nico was out there.
I mean, they may be thinking it, and they may be saying, well, we would have liked to have had him,
but they're not going to go, well, if he would have played, it would have been a different story.
Detroit's a better football team.
Yes.
Does it mean the Texans can't beat them?
Of course they can beat him.
You can beat anybody one week.
I mean, that happens all the time in the NFL.
happens in sports period.
That's what March Madness and the NCAA tournament is all about
is beating one team that you are,
that you're not on paper, not better than.
The Lions lost of the Buccaneers at home.
That's right.
And Tampa Bay is meh.
I mean, that's, you know what, don't worry about it.
Don't be scared.
I'm a little scared, but you should be scared.
They're going to lose by double digits this week.
You know what?
I'd like to make a bet.
I'll take the Texans plus nine and a half versus you.
Okay.
I need odds.
Why?
giving you a bunch of point.
You're telling me what's going to happen.
Yeah, but I'm still, still, it's, no one would do that just to do it.
I have to get something in return.
So let's do this.
Since we're now breakfast eaters now.
Oh, God.
Oh, we need to find a good breakfast taco spot near us.
Just saying.
You will be getting the coal brewery choice.
And if I win, I get a, uh, uh, a hot coffee.
I'll get you an hour at that massage place you like.
I only need 30,
minutes.
713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
On Twitter, at SportsMT, at Sports RV, and at Connor D. McGovern.
The Alex Breggman versatility is becoming a national storyline.
We'll talk about that.
And are the Astros really going to try to move Ryan Presley out of the bullpen
to somewhere else?
Scott said at minute 1044 on Sports Talk 790.
Astros, buddy.
You of H grad.
Tex-Mex connoisseur.
Well, is there anybody more Houston than Matt Thomas?
No way.
Back to the Matt Thomas show.
Is this Gucci-Mai?
You don't know who this is?
No, I do not.
This is the biggest song of the year.
Is?
Yes.
And what's it called?
It's called Not Like Us.
And who sings it?
It is a song by Kendrick Lamar.
The Grammy nominations are out, Matt.
Hey, the record of the year, the Beatles got nominated for now and then.
But also, Song of the Year and Record of the Year, Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us nominated.
Oh, great.
I'll go run and download as soon as possible.
possible.
You should.
This is so good.
I mean, let's see.
If he wins, if he wins at least just one of those, that would give him 19 Grammys.
The Great All-Time Songbirds.
You got an Elton John, you've got a Billy Joel.
You got Kendrick Lamar.
That would be 19 Grammy wins.
I believe Barry Manilow is still sitting at one, unfortunately.
Hopefully he'll win both and get up to 20.
That'd be pretty good.
20 Grammys would be incredible.
Yeah, it would be.
America will be so excited about it.
All right, we'll talk to Dan Miller,
the voice of the Detroit Lions cut up at the top of the hour here on Sports Talks Saturday.
I want to ask you, believe it or not,
on Scott Poros saying that Alex Breggman would embrace a move to second base.
Let me ask you this.
When you throw out second base,
do you open yourself up to teams that would not be normally looking for a third?
third baseman, but would be looking for perhaps a second basement.
Or B, is it we're trying to drive up the market so the Astros will say, we need our guy
to play third base, and we have an offer, and we need to up it because Scott's now looking
for other teams to compete with the Astros, and throwing the second base caveat out there
could help him draw some more attention.
Eileen, maybe there is a bit of a B or just trying to drum up or manufacture some more market because, I mean, the highest paid second baseman is not anywhere close to the highest paid third basement in baseball.
It's just not as much of a premium position.
And, you know, he did have the chips removed from his elbow.
Does maybe the wear and tear of playing third base the next five or six years not sound nearly as interesting?
a little more easier for him to play second base.
And his throws will have to go not nearly as far.
Well, if the Astros could somehow sign him at second base money, that'd be great.
I just pulled up the highest pay.
There's only three second baseman in baseball making over $20 million a year.
Zanderbo, works, Padres, $25 million.
Marcus Simeon, $25 million, and then Jose Al-Tuva.
So basically, it would not be an adjustment salary-wise to open up in playing second base.
It would be, yeah.
Second base is not going to make as much as a third baseman.
So then let me ask you this.
Let's dig into the mind of Viboros.
Why is he doing it?
Why would Alex embrace that?
He's trying to drum up market.
He's just trying to say, oh, this team's interested.
When he wants to go to other team,
saying he'll play second base does get teams more interested,
and then he can go to teams that want to sign him as a third base.
Well, you know, I got five other teams interested.
Yeah, he's drumming up a market.
He's, this guy, this guy's not stupid.
Well, how about this?
A lot of guys, our free agent shortstops,
will play shortstop for three or four years
and then move to third base.
I mean, I think of A-Rod as a great example of that.
Cal Ripkin was an example.
He should have stayed at short.
Jeter was done it short at that time.
You know what I mean?
It sounds like very similar to that situation.
Is it moving positions maybe towards the back half of the career
to say, you know what, if I don't think I'm going to be able to get
the production defensively from Alex Pregman in six years or third,
maybe I get the three or four best years left to his defensive work,
move him to second base where I can make him a very solid second baseman.
Yeah, I mean, that's even the guy that we just mentioned
as the highest paid second baseman is a perfect example of that,
Marcus Simeon.
Marcus Simeon was a great shortstop for a couple of years,
for several years at Major League Baseball level,
and then he moved to second base full-time, basically the last couple of years.
Oh, I wish we had the text message between Boris and Brighman.
or at least be able to spy on the phone call
because I'm very curious where this is going.
Is this going to draw out to like, what's your gut feeling?
Is this done in a couple of weeks or is this going to draw to one of those bad boys that draws out to March?
Rossi, I don't even have an answer for you on that.
I don't even know because it feels like to me the last four or five years in Major League Baseball,
these deals have started signing later and later and later and later.
I mean, think about it, there were three high-priced free agents that,
signed in March
even when spring training was underway.
Those were all Boris
clients and two of the three left them.
I know. I would say it's not
right around the corner. My guess is they may
be going to the winter meetings before
a final decision is made and then maybe
not even that soon.
I guess it all depends on the client, right?
For me, Ross, when I've dealt them
with negotiations, I let to get things
done way ahead of time. I don't want to go
to the last minute and anything can do in my
whether it's negotiating for a car or a house, my job, whatever the case.
I want it done as fast as possible.
Some people want to hold on to the very last second to see how much more interest is out there.
Yeah, I don't know how it's going to play out.
It'll be interesting.
All right, let's check in on what's going on in Detroit.
The Voice of the Lions.
Dan Miller will join us next.
Our time is 1056.
It is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
I'm here in Oklahoma City for Rockets and Thunder tonight.
Ross is back in Houston.

The Matt Thomas Show with Ross continues.
here in Oklahoma City for tonight's game with the Rockets and the Thunder will have the launch pad
at 6. Network pregame at 630 on the call for you tonight at 7 o'clock. Thunder have lost just
one game so far in this season. Rock is trying to go after an impressive win against one of the
top teams in a Western conference. Sunday the Rockets will be in Detroit to take on the Pistons.
Meanwhile, the Lions come to Houston for the 720 national broadcast against the Detroit Lions.
and joining us right now, the longtime voice of the Detroit Lions.
He's also the sports director at the Fox affiliate in Detroit.
It's Dan Miller here on the Matt Thomas show.
Dan, it's Matt and Ross.
Thank you for joining us.
I have to ask, is this the most excited you have been as a sportscaster
and voice of the Lions about the Lions realistically playing on a Super Sunday?
Yeah, I think so, and I appreciate you guys having me on.
Look, they really at the end of 2022, when they were in eight out of ten,
tend to close the season and then came right back.
Last year started the season with the winning Kansas City the night.
They hung the banner.
You started to believe there was something happening here that was real.
And then to see them win the division last year, something they hadn't done in 30 years,
to beat the Rams, to beat the Bucks, to get the NFC championship game,
and basically 30 minutes away from the Super Bowl, you understand what they've got.
And I think the most impressive thing about it, Matt, is that it's built on a firm,
foundation with young players that are developing and getting better.
Whereas in the past we'd seen maybe a Lions team that got to the playoffs and it looked like
it was just kind of put together with sticks and glue.
Had a chance, but nothing really that was going to last.
So, yeah, it's exciting.
They're legitimately good.
They are playing great football right now.
They've endured some injuries, but it's, I think the most that Lions fans have been able
to sink their teeth into in a long, long time.
Let me ask you this to go back to your memory banks a little bit, if you don't mind.
The day that Matthew Stafford gets moved to Los Angeles in return for Jared Gough,
the reaction to Detroit sports fans, people that cover the team, guys like yourself,
just saying, what are we doing here, or was it time for Matthew to go?
And then fast forward to now about the development of golf as a quarterback while wearing the
lion's gear.
Yeah, completely respectful of Matthew.
it was time to go.
They just needed to turn the page.
Now, the acquisition of Jared Goff,
I don't think a lot of us thought that he was going to be the long-term quarterback in Detroit.
I thought there was a chance.
I knew they had to rehabilitate him,
and I'd seen him take a team, you know, into the playoffs and into a Super Bowl,
and he had done some good things, but he had just fallen.
It seemed so far off the map in L.A.,
and they had lost faith in him,
and certainly seemed like they were just shipping him out.
But I will say this, the guys that believed that he could be
the Lions' next starting quarterback for the long term
were the general manager Brad Holmes and his assistant general manager,
Ray Agnew, both of whom were in L.A. when they drafted him,
and both of whom were part of the Rams organization
that saw him play his best football out there.
So while I think the widespread view was he's a place older,
he's a bridge quarterback.
I think they felt like this guy with the right team around him
can be the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions,
and I think that belief has been borne out,
and Jared is now playing the best football of his career
and really put together a one-month stretch here
that you could throw some numbers up there
that no quarterback in NFL history has ever put together
in terms of completion percentage, quarterback rating,
and getting through a tough five-weeks,
stretch here that we looked at at the beginning of the year and thought, man, that's going to be
probably the most difficult part of their schedule. And he's been at his best.
The talent of Dan Miller, the voice of the Lions with us here on a sports talk 790 coming
to you from Oklahoma City. You do a weekly segment with Dan Campbell. We obviously only
get sound bites and whatnot. Obviously, the guys love him. The city loves him. He's atypical
of the typical coach speak that we'll see around the NFL circles. But take us into your world a little
but you get a chance to talk with him, I'm assuming several times during the week,
whether it's on television or radio.
Give me some things about him that maybe the average fan in Houston, Texas,
watching the Lions from a distance wouldn't know about him.
You know, start with this.
He's a great person.
I mean, he's got a good heart.
He means well in everything that he does.
He cares about other people.
And I've been doing this long enough to know that not all coaches are like that.
They can get caught up in their own little world.
and it is about what they're doing
and not worrying about anybody else.
He's a heck of a person.
I think that's where you start with him.
His wife's outstanding.
He's got a great family.
And I think that's kind of what permeates everything he does.
There's a consistency to him.
He's the exact same person
if you're sitting on the couch talking to him,
doing him in an interview,
as if you were drinking a beer in the corner,
as if you were spending any time with him.
He doesn't change.
I've not seen him lose his temper ever in a press conference.
I've not seen him ever let somebody get under his skin.
He just, he has an ability to just kind of go with the flow.
And I think the players appreciate.
They appreciate the consistency.
They appreciate the honesty.
They appreciate always knowing where they stand.
They appreciate the fact that he clearly cares about them and wants to do best by them
and give them the best opportunity to succeed.
He has been exactly what Detroit.
needed. And, you know, his initial
press conference was the whole
kneecap thing that everybody pulled that
30 seconds out. But I tell you,
we've seen a lot of press
conferences here because unfortunately we've
changed a lot of coaches with the lions, with the
tigers, with the Pistons, with the Red Wings.
That was the best introductory
press conference I'd ever seen
because he said the things that people
needed to hear. And it wasn't
blowing smoke, it wasn't just
blue skies, it was about
what the vision was, what it was
going to take, and I think it resonated with people right away.
But he just has an infectious, charismatic personality that I think people like, I think
players like, and it has been perfect for Detroit.
Dan, Aidan Hutchinson's leg injury was gruesome, sad for a lot of Detroit Lions fans.
Like, what's going to happen now?
You lose one of the best defensive players in the game.
Zadarius Smith comes in the trade.
First of all, what do you know about Zadarius, except on the opposite?
side calling games against the Browns, and then what's his availability for Sunday, do you think?
Yeah, I think that's up in the air. I think there's a chance you won't play. I think they are
cognizant of the fact that this was his by-week, and he stayed in Cleveland, and he's a 32-year-old guy
who, if he played, would be on schedule for 18 games, and I think they are cognizant of the fact
that he might need a little downtime before he jumps in there. They gave him some time to go
back home and get everything in order, and he just came back today.
So obviously it's going to be a crash course in the playbook.
If he plays, it'll be a limited snap count.
Look, here's what I know about him, and he's been in the NFC North, so we've seen him
for quite some time.
He's 32 years old, so he's not what he was when he was 26, but he still can provide something
that they desperately need, and that's an ability to get out to the quarterback,
because when Aiden went down and Marcus Davenport went down, and Derek Barnes went
down. You know, they lost three of their best edge guys. And John Kaminsky was another guy that
went down for them earlier this year in training camp. So they really needed something. And he
walks in the door as their best edge rusher. So again, don't know if he's going to play this
week. Josh Paskell will be back. He's a former second round pick that I know they're hoping
is going to be able to take some steps this year and help them out. But it is a question mark,
Matt about this team and what they're going to be able to accomplish if they can't get that
pass rush going because it's been a problem even the last couple of weeks when we've played
some quarterbacks, you know, Jordan Love wasn't 100%. Mason Rudolph isn't top of the line when it
comes to NFL starters, but they've got a lot of time back there and it's hard to survive in this
league if you're not at least impacting the passers somehow.
Lastly, Dan, as you and I are speaking, the Texans have activated Nico Collins and put him
on the
off of the
injured
reserve list.
He can
now open
to practice
today,
so that's
going to be
a very
encouraging
sign for
Texans fans.
Tell me
what the
lion's
secondary
will be
like
if indeed
Nico
Collins and
Tank
Dell
are the
main two
guys
that
C.J.
Stroud can
throw
to
to on
Sunday.
Yeah,
their
secondary is a
lot better.
They got
two guys
playing
great at
safety right
now.
Kirby Joseph
and Brian
Branch are
two
of the
highest
rated
if you
look at
PFF
or one
of those
sites. They've been outstanding. And Terry and Arnold, the rookie first round pick, has gotten
better. Carlton Davis, a veteran, has been a great ad for them. Ameek Robertson, a veteran that
they signed as a free agent, has been solid as a nickel. So look, their secondary is good. It's
worlds better than it was last year. But again, I think the equalizer is if you can't pressure
Stroud into throwing the ball maybe a little bit before he wants to, or at least force him to get
it out of there, and he's got a lot of time back there.
A lot of quarterbacks in this league are going to pick you apart, and he's certainly
one of them.
So that's one of the things I'm watching in this game.
Look, we saw what happened last time out against the Jets.
He got roughed up, that offensive line, in particular in the middle, where the lions do
have some strength with DJ Reader and Aline McNeil.
Houston's been vulnerable there.
So the Lions have to find a way to impact him, or else he can, you know, make these
receivers into big play guys.
That can be problematic for Detroit.
So I think if you're looking at this game, that's something to keep an eye on.
Is Detroit getting a pass rush or is Houston able to function offensively with Stroud kind of having time back there?
And if that is, that that's problematic for Detroit.
Well, the reality is, Dan, as we speak here in the middle of the day, it's the $64,000 question.
Is Nico just practicing or is he going to try to play on Sunday?
We'll obviously know more in the next 24 hours.
The last time a Detroit team played a Houston team, it was two and out.
for the Tigers over the Astros.
I've got the Pistons Rockets on Sunday.
You've got the Texans and Lions.
This Detroit-Huston series,
with all these teams,
have been elevated here in the last 30 days or so.
Yeah, it's fun.
And, you know, the Houston's done a nice job
with their basketball team.
The Pistons, I think,
kind of looked at,
fans looked at those two franchises.
It's kind of moving at the same time.
And last year,
obviously Houston moved a lot further than Detroit.
So we're hoping to catch up in that regard.
and, you know, the Astros have kind of done some things that the Tigers would like to,
and the Lions know they've got a tough game coming up this week, so it's all good fun.
Safe travels this weekend, my friend.
Thank you very much for joining me.
A great conversation, and, again, thanks for joining us here on the show this afternoon.
Have a great weekend and a great call.
I appreciate it.
Have a good time in Detroit, and we'll look forward to being there as well.
Very good. Dan Miller with Fox 2 and the voice of the Detroit Lions with us here on the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
All right, so if you've not heard, literally in the last couple of minutes,
we've got the designation to return to practice for Nico Collins.
What that means, I don't know at this exact second.
Could things change in the next handful of minutes or hours?
No question.
We'll discuss that coming back in a moment.
713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-790.
1113 is a time.
It is a Matt Thomas show with Ross.
And this is Sports Talk 790.
Yo, this is Bunby.
And my wife is the biggest fan of the whitest man in America.
Matt Thomas.
Rackless, ratchet, and don't give a fuck.
1118 on Sports Talk 790.
It is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
We are with you today until 2 o'clock this afternoon.
If you want to jump in on the conversation, you can.
And anything goes Friday at 713-212-5 is 790.
7-1-3-212-5-790.
So literally Rossi, just a handful of minutes.
ago, they designated
Nico Collins back to practice.
Now,
at this point, no one knows what that means.
I think D'Amico's going to speak in a little
about an hour from now. I don't know that for sure. I'm trying to get a
time on that. Jonathan Alexander, beat right up with the Texans,
seem to think it's not a foregone conclusion that just because you
return to practice means you play.
But, not immediately.
Go ahead.
the Houston Texans
Twitter account is making a big deal
out of Nico returning.
They are? What do they do?
Well, they put a big logo of him on there
saying he's back to practicing.
I mean, they didn't do that when
the left guard
Jared Patterson came back.
They didn't make a big deal out of that.
He wasn't designated to return from IR
and their star-wide receiver, Matt.
I know, but
if he's not
if he's going to if he's not going to
play you wouldn't make a super big deal
on him I'm not no I'm not going to the
Twitter admin
it is just throwing it out there
I'm not going there
Twitter admin is tipping the hand of the Texans
I know from working around
teams that you don't make big deals
of certain things and you make big deals of other things
well November 6 that we have
we have signed Jaden Peevy to the practice squad
there's a big Jaden Peevy graphic
yeah but Jaden Peev is a huge
difference maker.
Okay.
I'm trying to think
who else has been activated from IR
at some point this season.
For the Texans,
nobody. He's been the only player on the IR
that's coming back.
Yeah, so I'm going through this
since we're going down the social media
rabbit hole now.
I'm telling you, so
if you're looking for buzz,
I mean, it's a picture of Nico Collins, and it says
Nico Collins has been designated for
return slash return to practice and we have made another
roster move. Okay. I don't, I don't, I don't, the time, I can't even get, I can't even guess the
timing on this. Okay. Well, I mean, what's going to happen? I think players get designated for
return and it takes weeks for them to come back sometimes. That's right. That's because he's
designated return doesn't mean he's actually going to be in the practice field today. We don't
even, they, you just officially start at a clock is what you started. Yeah, it's a 21 day window,
so they have 21 days to reactivate him from IR. Okay. I think people, um, at least in the
Social media streets are, first of all, happy to see this.
Second law now hopeful that he might be able to go.
But you're talking about, now again, I guess the question is,
can you have secret practices and run around and do things away from the official team practices?
Oh, man, you're going deep in the weeds now.
I'm going, I'm doing it.
I'm doing it.
The secret shrouded Nico Collins practices to throw off Dan Campbell and the line.
They're having secret practice.
is now?
To say I don't know that Michael Collins
is coming back? Secret workouts.
Secret workouts.
I'm sure he's working out privately, but is he back?
I don't know.
I'm going to still guess no. He didn't practice on Wednesday.
He didn't practice on Thursday.
Unless they're saying he's really, really rip raring to go.
And if he goes through a walkthrough or whatever today and he's going to start on Sunday,
that's possible.
If he's as ready, it would make sense because, I mean, Aaron Wilson is plugged in, man.
As we know, we have no reason to doubt him.
And he said 100% ready to go.
So that would make that make more sense.
Yeah.
All right.
So let's call our shot.
Is you playing Sunday?
I'll say no.
I'll say no.
Dang it.
I was looking for us for you to be on different pages.
Why?
Because this is easier that way.
I will still say no.
What did our friend Jonathan, a friend of the show, Jonathan Alexander, say?
Somebody sent him a tweet and said, is this an indication that he's just coming back to practice or he's coming back to practice to play on Sunday?
And he goes more of just coming back to practice.
That would be my guess as well.
Well, Jonathan knows more than I do, obviously.
Well, I mean, I've bought a lot of things.
Obviously.
In particular, about the Texans.
All right, so I think it's at least a positive sign.
It is a positive sign that at least the clock has started
as compared to just sitting around winning.
I think a lot of this, honestly, is Ross,
is because this game is such a big game on Sunday.
I mean, this is a legitimate Super Bowl contender coming into your building,
and you want to have as many bullets, you know, available to you.
In the clip or magazine, as they say?
Yeah.
Ready to fire off.
I don't know.
It may just be coincidental.
And that's probably what I would lean towards.
I think he would have been activated earlier.
If he were really ready to go, why would they wait until Friday to activate him and practice them?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like I said, we'll try to get an answer for you before the close of the show today.
as Domeika will speak one last time.
I don't think they carry that press coverage.
It's more likely what do you have for me
before I leave kind of questions.
All right.
So a bit of good news, but maybe not enough good news.
He's trending in the right direction.
Look, are you automatically going to win this game?
You're probably going to lose either way
with the lions in town.
That's not the bad of Red Ross I know.
What do you mean?
Better Red Ross think there's always hope.
There's always a chance.
There's a chance.
You're telling me there's a chance.
They got a shot.
I'm telling you, if the Texans beat the Lions, it'll be,
I don't want to sell this too hard.
Yeah, I'll go ahead and do it.
The biggest regular season win in the last five years for the Texans?
Hmm.
What was the game we were saying last year was their biggest win in their regular season?
Was it one of their games that basically clenched them the division?
I can't remember.
Well, I mean, this year's the biggest.
Was it last week against the season?
the Colts?
Oh, yeah, to win the AMC South.
Absolutely.
That's the bigger win.
Yeah, but the Colts suck.
They sucked last year.
And if not for that bad toss,
who was the quarterback for the Colts last year?
Because Richardson was out.
Richardson started, and then I don't even remember.
It was it?
Yeah, I think you're right. I think it was Gardner-Menschu.
Okay.
Yeah, but they had to win, they had to win.
they had to win to win the clinch of division the last week of the season.
Yeah, I guess that was, you know, yeah, you had to go to Indianapolis to do it.
We'll give them credit on that.
But this is, this is a biggie.
It's a big one.
I mean, it's not even, it's not even the conference.
That's another reason why, like, if you want to wait an extra week on Nico Collins.
I mean, you've got the Cowboys.
It's not like the Cowboys were in conference either, but have him ready,
you want them ready for Titans, Jaguars, Dolphins, Chiefs.
You're not, you're not getting any, you're not winning any tiebreakers.
Because I think regardless, you're going to be the fourth team,
Record-wise, all the division teams.
Let's see.
How many losses? Baltimore?
Baltimore 7 and 3.
Baltimore losing last night would have been good.
Oh, that would have been huge.
Huge.
Huge.
But the Bengals couldn't get a two-point conversion,
and the referees didn't want to call Joe Burrow getting a blow to the head.
That's two face masks they missed in that one game.
Yeah.
That would have been helpful.
Okay, let's go.
713-212-5-7-9.
If you want to get in on anything we've talked about so far,
we mentioned Bregman going to second base,
potentially as part of a, what a resume chip,
I guess is what you want to call on on that.
We have the rockets against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.
We've got the Lions and Texans on Sunday.
What's the big college game this weekend?
LSU Alabama.
I think Gordy's already halfway over there.
Gordy gets a lot of vacation time for L.
issue sports. I think he's cracking
a drive-through daquery as we speak
probably. Is that what it is? Is that what he's
doing? Yeah. He's not
going through a
convenience store in Lafayette for some cracklins?
Yeah, and a drive-thru dacquerie.
I'm going to go with
Georgia at Ole Miss, probably a bigger game.
Well, the big games always
involved the Houston Cougars. In fact, it's so big
the next game against Arizona's on
a national TV stage next Friday night
all by ourselves. They haven't been in
big games as the late 80s.
That's not true.
We disposed of the Florida State Community College in the Peach Bowl.
That's true.
Against their third string quarterback. Great job.
That's because the first two were afraid to play us.
They were quaking in our boots.
They refused to leave the hotel room.
Is that the way you're selling it?
That's the way I saw.
I was in Atlanta for a few days.
I know exactly how I saw it.
713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
We will, Ross, wake the strippers up at 12 noon today.
We have non-Florida stories at 1.30.
And then today's edition of, believe it or not,
is it all things about the Detroit Lions?
No.
Yes.
Sure.
I don't know.
It's over two hours away, Matt.
I'm not thinking about that.
Hey, we just got things started here then, is what you're saying.
Yeah.
1128 on Sports Talk 790.
7.13.212. 5.790.
The morning sports show for those who partied in Midtown way too hard.
night the matt thomas show on sports talk 790 1132 on the matt thomas show with ross this is sports
talk 790 i'm here in oklahoma city ross back in houston thanks to everybody listening back home
on 790 and of course the i heart radio app 713 212 57790 if you want to jump in on the conversation 713
212 5790 ross did you see the harts
H-Town Rockets jerseys that are going to be out and debuting in a few weeks.
Yes, I did.
H-Town, big font, big logo, kind of an ode back to the two championship times.
Mm-hmm.
Kind of.
Yeah, I mean, it's got ketchup and mustard in it, so we can always go with that.
I've got the drop shot.
Where's the mustard?
On the Nike swoosh, I guess.
Is there no mustard on there?
I thought there was a little mustard somewhere.
Oh, there's the ketchup and mustard logos on the shorts.
I like the shorts.
Yeah.
And the swooshes, I guess, mustard, or where would you call that Dijon?
I would call it more like a spicy mustard.
Like a stone ground?
Exactly, exactly.
You got a poll question yesterday about the Baltimore jersey.
Oh, yes, I did.
People, let's see, what do the folks say?
I don't even know.
I love Twitter polls.
Baltimore Ravens Purple Rising uniforms, 57% good, 43% not good.
Matt, your thoughts?
A lot of people calling them Crown Royal Sacks.
The helmet was the weirdest part.
The other jerseys, the tops they've worn before.
I mean, they've done that.
That's the color rush.
The screaming red-eyed raven?
That was, yeah, he was angry is what he was.
Yes.
He was definitely angry.
You know, for me, I have a different approach about uniforms in the NBA than maybe the most people do.
I just want to be able to identify the numbers and play.
players.
If I can't figure who's out there and I'm really far away from the game, it sucks.
You're going to start bringing your binoculars.
I'm going to probably have to.
But yeah, so they'll be debuting those.
I think sometime next week, I think, is what they're going to do.
Okay, cool.
I mean, I like them.
They're fine.
Yeah, if I could ever get ketchup and mustard full-time back on the organization,
I don't know if they would go way back back to the traditionals or they would just give
a, you know, like an updated modern version of them.
Over under 24 hours before Clinton has a jacket with this logo and stuff on it.
Oh, he's already probably got at least two jackets.
He's got more jackets that are cold days in this town.
I know.
He's dressing like he lives in Buffalo.
And works as a snowplower.
The Toyota Center is a cold arena.
I mean, I'll give him that.
So we have the dress form in that building.
But yeah, and our studios are not.
They're sometimes Arctic as well.
We have a thermostat.
Yeah, but poor Connor.
Oh, he doesn't have control of his.
It's Eskimo level in there.
It's pretty bad.
He does the producing of the show from the Greenland portion of our I-Harm radio company.
I need gloves.
We're going to have to get you some gloves.
I can't type in here.
It's shaking.
Tell the audience right now what the temperature is in your room.
Do you have any idea?
I don't have control of the thermocytes.
I don't know.
But it's got to be like 50 or something.
I don't know.
It's crazy.
For whatever reason, a studio down the hole controls his, and it makes his colder than it is in there.
I can see my breath.
He's making a snowman, actually.
Well, here's what you have to do.
Not that I'm giving any advice, but why don't you go ahead and get the full pneumonia?
And then you could sue the company, and you can not have some good money.
Now, granted, you get some time off.
Now, granted, you wouldn't be able to breathe on your own.
But, you know, there are some benefits to it, you know, taking one for the team, so to
Yeah, that's great advice, Matt.
Why don't we have him damage his lungs long term?
All right.
I'm just throwing out as a suggestion.
That's all I was trying to do.
Will you guys testify on my behalf?
I'm going to be out of town with the Rockets.
Probably not.
You cut me in on the settlement?
Then yes.
All right.
Deal.
That's a big-time deal.
By the way, Ross, you should explain with the audience why you should not be cutting deals about settlements
because you've been burned once.
Oh, we don't have to talk about that.
Oh, come on.
It's good.
You know, I'm wishing everyone.
one the best.
God, you're so diplomatic.
It makes me vomit.
That's funny.
I forgot about that until you just brought it up.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that.
I'll just say, Ross was involved in a situation that he could have very easily taken,
gotten some financial compensation for it, and somebody said, I'll handle it and give you
part of it, and the guy ghosted him.
Yeah.
That's fine.
In a nutshell.
Not that we're bringing up bad memories.
In a nutshell.
I mean, I wasn't.
injured in the accident. So to sue for it,
it would have been, I mean, it would have been
lying. So you wore the neck brace for two weeks just for
your health? Yes. I thought it looked cool.
It didn't look bad.
713-212-5-7-9.
7-13-212-5-7-9 if you want to jump
into the conversation. We're with you today
until 2 o'clock. What is the town of Houston
buzzing about right now, Rossi? I mean, we've kind of
gone over some Breggman. We've done a little bit on the
rockets. We've done a lot on the Texans.
got a lion's perspective
Yes
What do the people want?
I mean, anything goes Friday
Yeah, I don't even know
What's going on this weekend?
I mean, I know I'm here in Oklahoma
They want Brent Venables fired as a coach
The Sooners, I can tell you that for sure
They want him fired yesterday
Oh my god, dare
I mean, how long is this is his second year there or third?
Got to be his third
Because he replaced Lincoln Riley
Who went to USC by the way those USC fans
Want him fired two boy in Oklahoma
Not a great place to go get your football coaches
I mean, that's just everybody's going to want everybody fired unless you're ripping off championships every year, which just isn't realistic.
Did you hear what was it?
I think it was Sean or maybe Brian this morning was saying that if USC really wanted to go fix things,
you go give Nick Saban $20 million a year to go finish his college career, go to USC for three or four years and get that program fixed?
That's ridiculous.
But we're hearing that in the NFL about Bill Belichick.
Yeah, and then nobody wanted him.
Yeah.
You think Belichick's done, done?
You really think he is?
I do.
Gut feeling, he'll take one more job.
Yeah, because I think it's once...
I mean, think about it.
In sports, in the last 10 years, we've seen Bruce Bochie retire and go coach the managers and managers, the Rangers.
Other managers, the Rangers.
We have seen Mac Brown go coach at North Carolina.
He's on the hot seat over there, I think.
Well, he is on the hot seat, but you can't be mad at Mac.
He's like 70 years old.
How can be mad at Mac at this point?
Especially when, you know, when Sally makes the warm apple cobbler for the team on Thursday nights.
But if you're Bill Belichick, I mean, you're making millions to hang out with the man he's on Monday and do a couple of things on ESPN.
You got a hot young girlfriend.
You got a 24-year-old girlfriend.
You're already louded as probably the greatest NFL head coach of all time.
You're in your 70s.
What is he? 75?
70.
Looks like he's 72.
Well, we just elected a president with 78.
So 70s are now the new 60s or the new 55s.
Okay.
I mean, you know, regardless of age, I just don't think coaches ever want to ever stop coaching.
They just, they just can't sit and relax.
After this, can we put an age limit on the presidency, by the way?
because the current president is way too old.
And I think by the end of this term,
this president is,
the president-elect is going to be too old, too.
No, I want to, you know what I'm looking for?
I'm looking for a 90-year-old president next go-roar.
Seriously.
Seriously, as old as possible.
Technically, Joey B. can't run again.
I mean, he could.
Oh, my God.
By the way, Dana Carvys.
We need term limits, and Dana Carvies is pretty good.
Oh, my God.
His Joe Biden is really good.
Really good.
It's almost as good as Maya Rudolph's Kamala Harris.
Now, Maya Ruiz Kamala Harris is immaculate.
And she's like, damn, I lost on the potential revenue with the election change.
Yeah, what do they, what do you pay, Maya Rudolph's not on the cast,
so what do they pay her every week to come on, or how does that work?
Yeah, like cameo price, you know, like, what's the cameo price?
I don't know what, I don't know what, what is Lord Michael's paying for these days for,
for cameo appearances.
I don't know.
because I think you go back on SNL, once you've been on there,
you go back for the first time so people can cheer you and say,
oh, man, we miss you.
After about the nighttime, you want to get some cash.
I would imagine so.
But Alec Ballen was doing all those Trump things for a while,
and now he's back as Brett Bayer of Fox News.
Brett, who?
Brett Bayer?
He's the anchor on Fox News at night.
Okay.
The Rojet Black Hair.
You know I'm talking about you.
No, I don't.
I mean, maybe I've seen him before,
but I'm not aware of who you're talking about.
Okay, well, he's been,
he got acquitted of the shooting charges on that movie set and now he's back on.
Oh, okay.
I thought you said we were talking about Brett Bear.
No, we're talking about Alec Baldwin.
Dang.
I mean, Brett Bear may also.
I didn't know he was blasting on fools.
Okay.
Boy, this segment went in about 15 different directions.
Totally my fault.
Welcome to the four-hour format.
It's fine.
Ross, explain the essence real quick about anything goes Friday once again.
Let's see.
If you want to talk about presidential term limits.
Oh no, well, the presidential...
No, no, no, no, no, no.
See, if we have a term limit on presidents,
why don't we have term limits on senators and representatives?
This is ridiculous.
But I digress.
713, 2.1, 2.5.
Remote, should we have presidential term limits on Congress and mayors and governors?
I mean, is anybody not in favor of that?
And we've got to get rid of this electoral college, too.
Ramon, on this Friday, now that our guy is won,
why don't we play a five-minute music bed and then do four live commercials up to that?
that is very inside radio but it's good thank you matt
all right anything goes friday it can be about anything but the election
i'm going to go put the status quo i'm going to put the uh hardcore uh oh okay
okay now 713 212 570 713 212 5 790 nico collinser is video of him
practicing today with the texans so you're saying there's a chance
213-212-5-790.
It's 1143.
It is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
Matt Thomas, putting the H-in.
Hangary.
Want to just scream for a second?
H-Town, Sports for Lunch on 790.
We will be waking up the strippers in about 10 minutes from now.
Also, we'll have the news at noon,
which will obviously feature some big stuff.
Today coming out of Texans practice.
Also during the news at noon, Rossi, and you should talk to Connor about this.
Chris Sims, do you value his football acumen and opinion?
Yes.
Okay.
We've got a soundbite of him talking about C.J. Stroud.
Okay.
We may want to play during the news at noon.
We got that.
We got Rockets tonight.
Astro movement quiet, at least so far, on Bregman,
and whether or not Ryan Press.
wrestling is going to be discussed in possible trade conversations.
Oh, by the way, we had a Twitter question and said,
hey, who would be in your top five of presidential impersonations on Saturday Night Live?
Okay.
This is candidates and not, this is elected officials and not elected officials, right?
Because Dan and Carver did a good Ross Peril back in the day, but Ross Perot never got elected.
Okay.
I'll give you that.
I'm going to go Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton number one.
Really?
Yes.
I'm going to go Dana Carvey as George Bush number one.
Or Will Ferrell as George the second Bush in that as number one?
Well, there's some tough ones.
Fantasy five today.
They're all good.
They're not all good.
like i don't who was bad uh fred armison as obama wasn't great oh that's true that's true i mean
alec baldwin is as donny t is pretty good yeah uh what was it uh amy polar as hillary clinton was
pretty good uh yeah i mean does does obviously is i i i you know what i might if if we're counting
nominees that's probably number one i mean she sounds exactly like her that is true
But I'm telling you, the sneaking into the top three list is Dana Carvey doing Jabiden.
Hmm.
Okay.
We can mold this over.
I think it's when he does the, hey, when he does like the, hey, that part is perfect,
but then I think the rest of the impression is just okay.
If that does that make sense?
You're saying that one facet of it is.
One facet of is like 10 out of 10, and then the rest of it's kind of okay.
Well, how about when Dana Carlin, Noel Farrell was doing George Bush,
you call it saying strategy.
Oh, yeah.
See, that's also too.
That was more,
that was Will Ferrell.
Will Ferrell does a great job of doing an impression,
but as Will Ferrell.
Kind of like, who used to do Bob Dole back in the day?
Like when it was, when Norm MacDonald would really do Dan Aykroy doing Bob Dole.
That's actually true.
Yeah, somebody impersoning somebody else.
Yeah, I get it. I get it.
Who would be one?
Oh, man, Maya doing Kamala.
number one.
I think as far as like matching the mannerisms
and voice, she would have to be
number one. If we're adding like
entertainment value, that's when Will Ferrell's
goes up. And then yeah, Dana Carvey's
wouldn't be prudent and all that stuff was
great. At this juncture.
Yeah. I think Dana doing
George the first Bush was... Right.
Like Dana doing his impression of George, it wasn't
dead on to who George was.
Right. But his impression of him was
so funny. It became what
people pictured. It was
such a good impression. That's what people thought that George Bush acted like.
That's exactly. And in fact, George Bush wanted to take cues off what Dana was saying like that.
Is that really me? Yeah, that's you. Let's go to Jimmy and Tomball on the Matt Thomas show with Ross at 1153. Jimmy, good morning.
Good morning, guys. I, on anything goes Friday, just, I needed, Matt, I need you to sort something out for me.
I got two very specific types of people that are irritating me really bad,
and I need to know if I'm in the wrong or if they're just being turds.
The first is a guy that wants to correct you when you say, you know,
Alvarez had 100 RBIs.
Well, you know, technically it's the runs bad.
R's VI.
Is he the turd, or am I just unintelligent?
No, that guy is a douchebag.
That RBI corrector guy is a,
douchbag. He wants you to be, let you know that he's the smartest guy in the room.
Now, I can see either way, honestly, but to correct me on it, it makes you a douche.
Okay, perfect. Second is, and if I'm not mistaken, I think maybe you've run into this issue
before, because I think I might have heard you say before that you throw left-handed.
But when you're at an event, little league, church, softball, whatever, and you got a guy that
needs a left-handed glove. Hey, anyone got a left-handed glove? Well, do you mean, does it go on your
left-hand or do you see throw right-handed, but he's still technically, it's a left-handed?
Just, I feel like the normal person should know what I mean when you're asking for a
left-handed glove, would you agree with that sediment or should you be more specific? Well,
technically, it goes on my right hand because I throw with my left hand. If somebody said to me,
I needed a left-handed glove, that would, that would, that would mean I got to get somebody
for a glove for his right hand. So it's just the opposite.
Exactly, because they throw left-handed.
I feel like, again, that's what normal people would think.
But I just need it.
Who are you hanging out with it?
That's the thing I'm troubled by.
Who are these people you're hanging out with?
Well, the RBI one comes up just fairly often.
Not often, but the other one, when you're coaching Little League,
you run into some parents that just think they're so much better
and everybody else and want to correct you because, you know,
they're kids left-handed, but so technically it's a right-handed glove.
Okay, okay, whatever.
Yeah, we got to, you know what, Jimmy, we figured it out for you, by the way.
So you're all said, you are not wrong on either account.
Appreciate it.
That's why I like y'all so much.
You'll have a good weekend.
Thank you.
By the way, Ross, our buddy Hans listening to us today in Madison, Wisconsin.
Okay.
Just texting me.
We forgot a top three.
Oh, okay.
A top three?
Top three.
Go ahead.
Or when we come back?
No, we'll do it now.
Tina Faye is Sarah Palin.
That's a good one.
I don't know if I, yeah, maybe it's top three.
They're all a good list.
And by the way, I mean, R's B.I is correct, Matt.
Yeah, but don't be a douche and correct people.
That's what you do.
Just let people say it the way they want it to.
I'm going to, every time you say RBI or RBI is now,
I'm just going to say, oh, I'm actually it's R's B.
God, that's why we hate you.
That's the reason why people have such disgust for you.
I didn't know that.
Because you're corrector guy.
it's ridiculous oh i'm sorry i thought you'd need to know that you're wrong
no but i'm trying to make you not look like an idiot out there and correct you matt no no no
it's it runs 50 50 50% of this country says are no you know that's not true 75% of this country
says rb i's 25% say rbi i i would say rbi i would say rbi i would say rbi and rbis are correct
but if you're going with rsbi you're just being
You're just being a douche.
Yeah.
Nobody's saying R's B-I's.
That's ridiculous.
I mean, you say 50 things a week that I don't correct.
I just let them fly by.
You know what?
Start correcting me some more.
Oh, you're sure.
Let's see how people, we'll see how people will enjoy the program.
All right.
Let's start with this.
Scott Boros, not Scott Boros.
I'm calling him Boris.
You always say Boros.
Yeah, Boris.
Boros.
Boros is what you always.
Boros.
Boros.
Boris.
Boris.
Boris.
Scott Boris.
Boris.
Boris.
B-O-R-R-A-S.
I hate him, so I don't want to give him the right name.
I think he's bad for baseball.
Good for his client, bad for baseball.
What else you got?
I want to keep firing him away.
I was just off the top of my head.
Yeah, you know, I'm sure you'll have someone.
Don't be afraid to tell him people.
Send to them to mistakes.
Oh, it's good.
It'll bring the segment to a screeching hall like eight times a segment, so we just got to move on, Maddie.
Well, Scott Boris caused the Astros a lot of heart failure.
No, he didn't.
He has Almond.
Jose Altovae.
Yeah, but Jose signed
what was your initial reaction
when you heard Hunter Brown
signed Scott Boris?
You're like, oh,
bye.
See you later.
Yeah, Robert Ford's like,
see you later, Tucker,
see you later,
Brickman, see you later.
Fromper.
Who's Fromper?
See you later, Hunter Brown.
Hello,
Shea Wickham.
Oh, come on.
Hello, Zach DeSenzo.
Hello,
Chas McCormick.
Hmm.
We'll get it all taken care of.
It's Jake Myers season, baby.
But if I call him Boros one more time,
if you catch me Sam Boros next time,
I just let it slide.
I did it once and I'm just letting go.
No, no, you can't let it slide multiple times.
I let it go.
That's okay.
That one I'll accept.
It's definitely Boris.
Okay.
But not Boros.
All right, let's wake the strippers up.
They missed this last few minutes of radio goals here.
713-1-2-1-2-7-90.
We've got the news.
at noon, straight ahead here on Sports Talk 790 after I tell you about game day, men's health.com.

people around the United States get their issues taking care of with low testosterone levels.
If you're having terrible night's sleep, if you are lacking energy, if you're moody, if you are
having problems in the bedroom, if the libido is down, it might be because of testosterone levels.
So all I want you to do is get them checked.
You can do it for free.
Not a single penny.
Game Day, men'shealth.com slash Houston to find the location near you.
There are locations all around the Houston area with many more coming.
This is an expanding company right here in Houston,
and we're getting in on the ground floor with those folks
because they want to make sure they build a relationship with you,
not just for the here and now, but for the long term,
especially if you are concerned about your testosterone levels.

It's all there for you.
But the number one thing is getting your testosterone level fixed.
Game Day, men'shealth.com slash Houston.
Lunch timers.
This is the Matt Thomas Show.
1205 in H-town.
We welcome you back to the Matt Thomas Show on Sports.
Talk 790 with Ross. Let's go.
I guess I would have to go. I would choose dudes on dudes.
I'm not going to be happy about it.
Clip that right now.
Oh, right.
Clip it.
We're the thickest, biggest I've ever seen in my entire life.
I literally had my vertebrae sore for like a half an hour.
I mean, I guess I, you know what, I could do walking bets.
That's going to be a jiggle we don't want to see.
Or just have to suck it up and go, you know what?
He sucks, but he's our suck guy.
I can't do it one day a year?
Come on.
No, I'll give it.
you one day here. You can clip that.
Turkey trotting. And he found a woman that
makes him run. Gobble, gobble, gobble.
I don't care what they do in their bedroom.
I'll let you be my status, bitch, if you want to.
Someday, I would love to.
It's good to have you with us on this.
Anything goes Friday at 713,
2125-790.
7-13-212-1-2-5-790.
Ross. It's time for the news at noon.
Oh, I love this. Let's go to the newsroom.
The man who's got a pulse in the city, Houston, Sports,
And things beyond to the news center.
Here's Rossville, Real.
Yes, Matthew.
News coming out of Kirby today.
Nico Collins designated for return has also returned to practice.
The Texans have made a corresponding roster move.
That being placing Kenyon Green on injured reserve.
After activating Nico Collins, who was also
spotted at practice today.
And Matt earlier, I was like,
I don't know of putting a graphic of Nico Collins
necessarily means he's going to play.
However.
However, right after that,
there was a Houston Texans
social media post
filming Nico Collins,
walking and running around at practice,
and posted to their Twitter account.
So I would say,
to me,
you'll owe me an apology then.
I don't owe you an apology.
You owe me an apology.
No, I do not.
You said that that first post was a big social media pop,
and I said it was just talking about the transaction.
This one, if you would have said this one with him getting a video of him at practice,
I would agree.
Now that I see this, I'm with you.
The social media team is playing this up.
1, 2, 3 is he playing?
Here we go.
1, 2, 3.
No.
No.
But I'm more on, I mean, they're posting data.
They didn't post video of Jared Patterson returning to practice.
That's true.
But also, I mean, Nico Collins is their bigger star.
You want to change? Let's do it again.
One, two, three.
No.
No.
Okay, well, let's read the tea leaves then.
We mentioned the first post by the social media team, which they do it for transactions.
I don't think that was that big of a deal.
But you add that into the video of him practicing,
which definitely, to me, steps it up a notch.
And then Aaron Wilson, who we trust, said,
past all test 100% ready to go.
But you wouldn't take the field on Wednesday or Thursday
just to get yourself ready after being gone these many weeks?
That's something I'm questioning.
Is that a gamesmanship thing of we're like keeping it close to the vest for the Lions?
I mean, the inactive's come out an hour and a half before the game.
So to me, you don't really gain a whole lot,
but are the Texans thinking they gain a whole lot?
and they're keeping, they're going to surprise activate Nico Collins,
although it wouldn't be a huge surprise at this point, but I don't know.
We'll have to wait to hear from Demico coming up in a few minutes.
What else is happening today?
Also happening today, Matt, your Houston Rock.
It's taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Of course, you're over there.
Have you looked at the point spread?
We know you can't bet, Matt, but have you looked at the point spread on this one?
It's funny.
The NBA loves you to bet on things, except just don't bet on the NBA.
Yes. I have not looked and I don't know if I want to look.
Houston Rockets 8.5 point dogs to the Oklahoma City Thunder started off the season 7 and 0.
Now they lost, of course, to the Denver Nuggets the other night, only by two points.
And they settle in at home for a big six game homestan.
First against the Rockets, eight and a half point favorites are the Oklahoma City Thunder.
So you're saying there's a chance then?
Yeah, there's a chance.
Eight and a half.
Let's go.
That's not insurmountable.
Jalen Green gets hot.
He starts talking down threes.
All right.
I'm looking forward to calling another big,
impressive win.
Rockets, last time I played the Oklahoma City
in a regular season game,
won in this building, by the way.
Is that right?
Yeah.
I mean, that sounds vaguely familiar.
I can't really,
can't really honestly remember call.
Your deep research tells you that.
search or the print board that you get?
No, I'm working on it. Right now. I'm prepping it like a motor.
Okay. Elsewhere, Matt, in sports. Aaron Boone,
Yankees pick up his option. He is set to return as the Yankees manager, and I'm sure
Yankees fans everywhere upset.
Yeah, they hate him. They absolutely despise him. I think he can't manage out of a paper bag.
Do you think he's a good manager or a bad manager? You can only pick one.
I would say he's just very much pedestrian.
very, very middle of the road, if you will.
I like when he imitates Las Diaz's
strikeout mechanic. That's always fun.
He does get feisty with umpire. I'll give him credit for that.
And also in the news, Matt, of course, the big Thursday night
matchup last night. It was a shootout, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
They got together in two games this year. Both of them big time shootouts
with the Baltimore Ravens winning both of them. Joe Burrow,
428 yards and four touchdowns.
We know Jamar Chase went off for like 50 fantasy points.
But Lamar Jackson, 25 at 33,
290 yards, four touchdowns, no picks on the season.
He's got 24 touchdowns and two picks.
Is he going to win the MVP again?
He is going to win the MVP again
because Baltimore is going to lock up the two seed
and usually give it to a quarterback.
And Pat Mahomes has not been good enough to be a MVP candidate this year
despite the fact the chiefs are undefeated at this point.
Lamar Jackson is your NFL MVP.
Hmm.
There you go, Matt.
That's your news at noon.
All right, nothing on the offbeat.
I mean, we've got a break.
When we come back, we've got non-Florida coming up.
All right.
So, Houston, are you ready to call your shot?
Nico with the Texans Sunday night.
Score Nico without him.
We'll give you our thoughts when we return.
713-212-5-790 7-1-2-1-2-5-790 if you want to follow us on Twitter we'd love that but we
want you to talk to us because anything goes Friday we love these shows in particular because
it is fun having anything goes Friday 713-212-5-790 at sports MT on Twitter at sports
RV and at Connor D. McGuverin once again I want to tell you about the folks the
Shell Federal Credit Union where they would like to be able to
put a good auto loan rate in front of you for a new vehicle that you're looking to purchase,
perhaps a refinancing of the current vehicle that you're in now, or a use vehicle that you're
looking to purchase. All will come with $250 in cashback, deferred payments, and two skip
a pays per year. I can tell you personally, as someone that got my auto loan from the Shell
FCU, it was a seamless process, it was really good, the rates were good, the customer service
was great, they kept me on time and on schedule, and they gave me the
the $250 in cashback, which was very cool.
You can get that too today with an auto loan from the Shell Federal Credit Union.
For all the details, I get the process started, go to shellfcU.org.
That ShellfcU.org, stop paying high interest rates from the car dealers.
Go to the Shell Federal Credit Union.
Shellfccuh.org.
More Matt Thomas.
Now.
On Sports Talk 790.
Time is 1220.
Good afternoon.
It is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
We take this program until
2 o'clock today. We've got
non-flora stories at 130
and what is today's edition of
Helly Aaron out at 150?
I have no idea. What do you want?
It's up to you. We could do Detroit Lions.
We don't see them very often.
We could do...
Prime Video.
Is this movie available
on Prime Video, yes or no?
What did you bring that up for?
Because NFL was on Pride Video last night.
You do it Al Michaels.
We could.
How about the story yesterday about Kirk Herbstre's dog passing away?
I mean, it has gripped America.
And you know why?
Because we all know and have gone through this at some point.
Yeah, you know what?
I'm upset for Kirk Herbst Street getting everyone attached to his dog that was about to die.
This is your fault, Kirk.
Now I'm all sad about some dog I never met.
I think it was a very popular dog.
He lived a good life.
I mean, rest of peace to Ben.
Ben Herb Street.
I don't know.
I'm taking a day off when my dogs die.
I can take that for damn sure.
How many days off are you trying to take?
You're taking Paul Simon.
You're taking Paul McCartney.
Probably Barry Manlo?
I will work on Paul Simon.
Oh, you didn't take a day off when Bob Barker died.
I appreciate you that.
That's why I wanted to fight through it, yeah.
But he'd been hanging by a thread for years, so it's not like that was a shock.
Here are the fatality days among celebrities.
What? Fatality?
That's not how to know.
It's not how they, you don't go into your workday and put in fatality days.
They're called personal days, Ross, and I'm going to get a few extras here.
Okay, let's go.
Paul McCartney, chick.
Okay.
I would say Elton John, no, Billy Joel, no.
Ringo Starr, no.
Dogs, obviously, yes.
Mm-hmm.
You didn't even take a day off when Raquel Welch died.
I was shocked.
Yeah, but she didn't do much for me, or she didn't.
That's not what you used to say.
Okay.
Yeah, I think I'm pretty calm.
I think I'm only going to take a celebrity day, a celebrity grievance day.
That's what it's called it.
It's called a CGD.
It's a celebrity grievance day.
Okay.
Well, okay, if my list is one deep, what is your list?
I'm not taking a day off for anyone dying.
Not a single celebrity.
You're not going to be, you know.
I'm not a celebrity.
Yeah.
A family member, yes.
Yeah, I'm saying this is, we're talking about CGDs, celebrity grievance days.
Excuse me?
Yeah.
C.
G. D's celebrity grievance days.
I think I've just created something.
I think the HR world should jump on this right now.
I mean, I'm down for more days off.
When's that four-day work week coming?
That sounds good.
God, that would be great.
All right, 713212-5-790.
If you want to jump in, 7-1-3-1-2-5-7-9.
And as soon as we hear something from Texanville,
we will let you know about exactly where...
I mean, he could be, you know what?
Let me ask you this.
could D'Amico be very just super noncommittal about we'll see what happens?
I mean, why does he have to give on any greater details?
I imagine he is going to be.
Yeah.
He's going to keep it close to the vest.
Yeah.
But probably my guess we'll hear at about 10 o'clock on Sunday morning when Shepter
or something reports that are Jake Laser.
He, yeah, but I think that's when we'll know.
And I think they're going to say, my gut feeling still, that he's not going to play.
But I would imagine D'Amico is going to, basically what he says about every injury.
Well, we're evaluating right now and we'll see.
We got guys behind him.
And we love Xavier Hutchison and Robert Woods is good.
And John Metch, you'll be just great.
And we got a great pass.
We got two great pass catching tight ends.
We'll be fine.
Knowing full well that what's the line.
You see the line still at three and a half.
Is that what I'm holding?
Now, if Nico was cleared, does that bump it up a half point?
Does the sharps get on this and say Nico makes it closer?
I don't know.
honestly.
I don't think one receiver is going to change everything.
Maybe a whole new offensive line could change things.
Most lopsided NFL bet is 88% of tickets on the Lions at 3.5.
Like if I could bet the game Sunday when I get to Detroit, I would bet the Lions.
And probably a large amount.
Okay, a hefty sum.
Yeah.
Well, you'd be with the public, 88%.
But the fact that that line isn't moving means that there's a lot.
There's a lot of big money on the other side.
You know what part of it is probably is because the Texans do play very well at home.
They do have a quality win against an upper echelon team in their building.
Recency bias is real.
And then the last performance, the Texans were bad.
Mm-hmm.
And the fact that you think there's a part of you that goes, you know, the Lions just played a game in Cold Green Bay,
have to travel against second consecutive week.
They're due for a dud.
Mm-hmm.
Yes.
That's why I have the Texans.
covering the three and a half.
I'm with the 12%. Let's go.
But you're not ready to predict them
to beat the Lions. Why would I
do that? Because you
just don't have the much faith because your battle red is
now becoming more of a
darker tinge like the Atlanta Falcons.
I'm not going to, again, I will
reiterate. I'm not going to just blindly pick
something because I'm a fan of a team.
I just don't do that. But that happens all the time
in this market. I know. I'm sorry.
I'm different. You know what? To my own detriment.
I'm not going to come out here and spit a bunch of
Spitfire Hot Takes, and I'm also not going to be a Homer.
I'm sorry.
You're not going to be able to go to that Traveling Texans playoff game, man.
I know.
That's what we appreciate it.
That's why, again, this show, unlike other shows,
we're not going to give you the blind Homer takes on this.
We're going to, we're going to doubt it back, give you some realism.
You know, and as much as look, I want the Rockets to win 81 games a year
and be the number one seed and win the championship.
I mean, you know, tonight, Oklahoma City has got
the finish second of the year and rookie of the year
and Chet Holmgren last year.
They've got all-NBA player who finished second the MVP
and Shea Gilders Alexander.
I mean, this is, we're going in from the lightweight
from the spurs, the heavyweight of Oklahoma City.
So.
But it would be a nice to call an upset win.
I'm just saying, I'm all for it.
I'm not picking an upset for any Houston team this weekend, I don't think.
Except the Rockets beating the Pistons on Sunday, right?
Oh, well, that would be in an upset.
that's true that's true all right 713 212 5790 713 212 5790 we are waiting word from anything from texonville about exactly what's going on

Anything else Friday continues.
It is a Matt Thomas show with Ross.
1233 is our time.
It was something that was kind of under the radar
at the
general manager's meetings in San Antonio.
that Channel Rome kind of brought up, Ross,
we have really not ever discussed so far on the show,
is that there may be a kicking of the tires of seeing
if Ryan Presley would like to go somewhere else.
I want to say I brought that up not too long ago,
but the thing that held me back is,
A, the money is pretty significant,
B, he's got a no trade,
and C, do other teams right now think that Ryan Presley
could be a closer for their respective baseball team?
I would say no,
but if you're looking for a 7th,
he can still be a high leverage guy.
He's not as bad as Houston thinks.
I mean, at the end of the day, his ERA was 3.49.
That's pretty good.
Field independent pitching 3.10.
That's very good as well.
He is 35 years old.
He is slowed down.
$14 million is a lot.
But if you would have to, A, trade him to a contender
so he would agree, I believe.
And B, you would put.
probably have to send some cash.
But at the end of the day, as we learned with the Mets and the Justin Verlander deal,
it doesn't admit you can send $13 million of the $14 million.
It doesn't matter.
It still comes off of your books as it relates to the competitive balance tax.
And that's what the Astros are mostly concerned about with moving Ryan Presley.
Because they could move Ryan Presley and get rid of a lot of his salary.
It would be a problem, I'm not saying a win-win, but it would be if you're,
you don't want it to be on the hook for $7 or $8 million of that competitive salary on your books for Ryan
president to go play somewhere else. But I don't think honestly
Ross, I don't think it matters where he goes to a contender or not.
I mean, I've just learned
if you've already won something
and you're looking to
continue to make this crazy amount of money
being a pitcher, because think about it, when Ryan
Presley's done, he goes from
$15 million a year to
zero?
Yeah, but he's making the money no matter what.
He can make it in Houston. I don't,
he's not going to agree to a deal to play with like,
I don't know, the Marlins or
something like that. I think
But if the Marlins say, hey, we're going to make you our closer, I bet he would do it.
I can't answer that question.
But I would think he's going to want to go somewhere where he can win another World Series.
Because he's getting paid the same no matter what.
He can stay here and be on a contender.
I mean, does he really want to do them a solid?
I don't know.
What does Ryan Presley like to do?
Can you buy him a tractor like Roy Oswald?
You know, I don't know.
They take this deal to the Marlins.
Take this deal to the Marlins that will get you a yacht so you can have in Miami.
Can you be?
Would you, how about this?
Here comes an analogy.
Uh-oh.
You can be the first officer on a major airline,
or you can be a captain on one of those cheap discount airlines,
making the same money.
Just go to the old tried and true big fish in a little pond.
Oh, I like my example better.
It's not your worst.
You're a first officer on shmited or dark breast.
And then all of a sudden you get a phone call and says, hey, you want to be a captain on merit.
Yeah, but merit, they're not chasing championships either of those teams.
So, I mean, it's about does he want more rings?
Does he want to be on a contender?
Does he maybe a playoff team?
I would imagine he's going to want to make the playoffs and be in the playoffs.
I would think so.
But I mean, remember, he's got his money regardless of where he goes, so it doesn't really matter where he goes.
So I will disagree with you.
And I will say, hey, we got to trade for you to go to the Marlins.
You're going to lose 100 games, but you're going to be their closer.
I don't think he would say yes.
but I think he's just really wigging out about not being a closer anymore.
But here's the thing.
Somebody's got to have a dose of reality to him.
He doesn't have closer stuff anymore.
He wasn't even a closer when he came over here.
Why is he all wrapped up in that?
Man, I don't know, but obviously it bothered him last year.
It had to do you mean it made him bad on the mound?
No, it just made him.
No.
He was just cranky.
Let's put it that way.
Yeah, he wasn't happy about it because he's got an ego.
Sorry, bruh.
Josh Hater's better than you.
Let's move on.
Like, what are we doing here?
He's probably going, not much better.
Yeah, after he saw those results, yeah, he's probably thinking that.
But, I mean, even when he was traded over from Minnesota, his first couple years in Houston, he wasn't the full-time closer.
No, I mean, he made his, he made the money being one of the best set-up guys in the sport.
I mean, it's not foreign territory to him.
I mean, you didn't ask Billy Wagner to be a six-in-guy once he finished his career.
He was, you know, he, you know, he started out from scratch as a guy that was a leverage guy and then a high leverage guy.
And then all of a sudden, because of injuries and whatnot and people moving on, he embraced the closes role and was very good in doing it.
But the speed is the delivery is off.
He's always been able to, he's pitched a contact a lot, a lot of congestion on the bases.
And it, you know, unlike in previous years, he was not able to get a lot of that congestion off the base pass.
Or they were crossing home plate, sadly.
He had a better ERA this year than he did the year before.
But it still felt like to me it was a pretty big drop off.
I think people, I think it got in their heads a little bit more about Ryan Presley.
He wasn't that bad.
He really wasn't.
Yeah, I get it.
I think, you know, again, you and I have been big Presley guys, so it's hard for us to maybe take a step back on this.
But I think the criticism was way too much.
And how about this?
Was the criticism of on Josh Han.
hater too much.
I would say so, yes.
Because here's the thing. I think he were trying to compare it to what he did.
He had a good season as a closer.
He's had some knockdown, get out of my way,
you're never going to score a run against me years.
And I think that's what people are expecting, especially when you spend,
you know, $95 million on a guy for five years,
money that typically Jim Crane hasn't spent on closures before.
Yeah, he's still got 34 out of 38 saves.
That's pretty good.
but yeah
ERA of almost four
3.80 for Josh
Hater
you want your ERA's under three
with your
nice well he was a 1.28
with San Diego and we're like oh
baby he ain't giving up a run
and he was giving up a home run every other pitch
I'm still still not going to let anybody
tell me
that the deal was bad for Hater
but the decision made to put in
Narrison the 7th him and
put press on the 8th
and putting in Hater the 9th
was not, oh my guy, you get to the seventh inning.
It was a Brayor, you mean?
Braille, Brian Abrae. That's right, Narris.
Narris is gone. Well, actually, he was gone, but he came back, but now he can come back again, but then he
happened. No.
713-212-5-79. If you want to jump in, 7-1-3-212-5-7-9-0.
So we have a lot of things on the plate, including Texans and Lions coming up on Sunday night.
Let's see what else we got going on. We got college football.
are the Aggies and the Longhorns
both all this week?
No, the Longhorns play the Florida Gators.
Oh, so they're basically off then.
No, Matt.
There's no off days in the SEC.
What's the line?
21 and a half.
It's an off week.
By the way, Billy Napier, the coach of the Gators,
got the dreaded vote of confidence
and they're not making any moves before the end of the year.
Yeah, was the athletic director or who came out?
Yep.
Yeah, he said Billy Napier's our guy.
Good for him.
him. He'll be our guy until the
final, the first
Saturday in December, then he'll get fired and move on.
So you're predicting he will be done at the end of the year?
Yes.
Okay, we'll see.
Matter of fact, I'm going to give you a one-two punch.
Mike Norvell is out at Florida State at the end of the year.
I mean, how can they keep him?
But, I mean, didn't they just re-up him?
Oh, yeah, his contract is...
Literally this off-season or no?
His contract is a huge payout, but you don't want.
what, I'm not ever going to worry about what schools can't pay anymore because we kept saying
that with Jimbo at A&M.
And A&M had zero beads of sweat paying off Jimbo's contract.
Oh, I don't even know what to say.
This is just so crazy.
We let these boosters run the programs.
Oh, when's that changed?
Never.
I'm just saying it's stupid.
Just because you're, you get six billionaires in a room together.
They don't know.
That doesn't mean they know football.
It's so stupid.
It's ridiculous.
But doesn't it happen in all walks of life that the money controls everything?
I mean, don't you think if you give a lot of money to a hospital,
they're not going to be interested in trying to pick up certain things.
You give money to a university.
I don't think a house.
I hope that billionaires who donate to hospitals are controlling the medical procedures.
No, not medical procedures, but what is spent on research and what is spent on what wings
and what you spend.
Oh, yeah.
You donate money, you all of a sudden become the executive vice president of making big decisions when it's not your decision.
Well, yeah.
Never mind.
All right.
Were you going to have another example of that or no?
No, there's no examples that come to mind that.
I mean, it would be like, you know, I don't know, giving a lot of money to a political campaign and helping them run the office.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Yeah.
As an example.
It's just great.
It's a fantastic country we live in.
By the way, you're getting a lot of hate on Battle Red Ross because Battle Red Ross
always thinks the Texans should win a football game.
What's going on with?
Who says that?
Well, I just one listener.
Okay.
Well, you said a lot of hate.
You always oversell.
I do.
I'm trying to belize the show a little bit.
You're Mr. Overseller.
I might be there.
I have this crazy thought.
Go ahead.
That you can be a fan of a team, but also not be a stupid blind homer and think they're
going to win every single game and everything they do is fantastic.
Well, you haven't been looking at YouTube channels lately.
I know.

The Rockets have Red Nation.
Matt has Maddie Nation.
Things are going to start happening to me now.
You've made it.
I'm somebody now.
More Matt Thomas.
Now.
1248, Sports Talk 790.
Congratulations.
Joe Mixon.
He was named a new team captain by the Texans.
Obviously, taking the spot of
Stefan Diggs.
I wonder if that's really what you had to do, Ross,
or that was just kind of a symbolism of,
hey, our offensive line sucks,
and we can't move the ball without you,
and here's a little token of our appreciation.
Why do you have to be such a good?
a cynic, Matt. Why can't, why can't, why can't, why can't the people in that locker room love Joe
Mixon, they consider him a leader and they voted him captain? They should have done earlier in the year then.
Well, that's what they, they did it with Stefan Diggs. And now they're like, holy smokes,
Joe Mixon is great. Now they're not going to vote Kenyon Green captain. Oh, because he's on IR.
But otherwise, he would be certainly a candidate for it. Probably not. I don't think so.
I don't think so. Oh, my goodness.
Yeah, I'll say this.
I thought it would be good here.
I didn't think he'd be great.
He's great here.
Yeah, I think generally the rule in the NFL,
which has just been completely debunked this year,
is that when a running back of a certain age changes teams that they're done.
Like even like a Dalvin Cook, when he went off the Vikings,
were like, okay, he's going to be with the Jets.
He hadn't been doing anything.
He's not doing anything with the Cowbush.
boys. But Derek Henry's dominating
with the Ravens. Sequan Barkley is
still one of the most freak athletes on the planet
and Joe Mixin is doing great here and I
feel like I'm even missing some more
but yeah, Joe Mixen has been dominating
here.
And it was a guy that
I don't know, did Cincinnati, did they really
feel the pain when he left or was like, you know what?
We're going to try to get rid of him and
not spend the money because running backs
once they turn a certain age or have certain number of experience
become
you know, unable to
produce. I wonder if
the storyline of him leaving the
Bengals has changed since
he's been so good here or they really regretted
losing him to begin with him. I mean, Chase Brown's been really
good for them and they signed Zach
Moss, who is now on IR and so they
traded for Khalil Herbert from the
from the Bears
who I think he got like one
snap, fumbled the ball and then that was all we saw
from him last night. Yeah.
But I don't think they're missing.
No, I mean, they scored, how many points
did they score last night against the Ravens? Thirty-four.
Should have been 36 if they would have gotten the right call at the end of the day there.
Their record is 4 and 6, but I don't think it's not because Joe Mixen isn't there.
I had a gut feeling of a couple of years back that I'm not ready to give up on.
Okay.
T. Higgins of the Texas.
It could happen.
They're going to need somebody.
It's been hurt all year and then he is still a free agent, right?
They franchised him.
They franchise him.
He still hates it there.
Jemar Chase, by the way.
He should start holding out tonight.
He should go back on holdout.
Cincinnati has done a really poor job,
generally speaking, of keeping their star players
because the reputation of that organization
is there just a bunch of cheapskates?
I mean, you have to spend,
I mean, the problem is,
how much is Joe Burrow getting paid, taken up?
I guess we, let's go to the Bengals payroll here
on the Matt Thomas show,
which I think we're going to be doing.
No, no one cares about this.
This is a terrible idea that I brought up.
I apologize, Houston, Texas.
I mean, I'm down.
T. Higgins is their second highest paid player.
He's a franchise.
He's a franchise, you know.
Or Trey Hendrish comes been good? Yeah, I don't know.
But Jamar Chase is,
yeah, they need to pay that dude.
He's insane.
And Joe Burrell's really good, too.
I just don't know if long term, if they're ever, you know,
hell, I picked them win the EFC this year. I feel so stupid.
They were 4'6. They're alive.
And they're going to need some work.
I need some help.
Well, they've been playing better.
I mean, well, they got crushed by the Eagles.
They need the chargers and the Broncos to take a deep step back here.
If they had to split one of those against the Ravens,
they got in two big-time shootouts.
If they just put one of those, they'd be five and five and ready to make the playoffs.
The one that's kicking their ass is losing the week one game against the Patriots.
That was something that really hurt.
Yes, great survivor pick.
We should go back to Vegas because you gave them a $3,000, so good for you.
you on that. Hey, they, uh, Circa offered a, I think I get a weekend free of rooms.
If you lost in the first two weeks or three weeks or something like that.
Are you serious? Absolutely.
Where are we going? I'm sorry, it's not a free weekend. I think it's like two or three nights
day, but it has to be in the weekdays. But still, Circa's, I mean, it's palatial.
You show from there. They got studios for us. We could definitely do it. I'm ready.
Although, do we want to do a show at eight o'clock Pacific time after spending a night going
out and gambling and doing whatnot? I mean, we could, I guess I could drive, you know, we could.
Oh, 8 o'clock.
I always have to stay up.
Yeah, just to pull it all-nighter, basically.
You should get you a couple of bumps, and then you'll be ready to go, Maddie.
Get a couple of what?
Bumps.
What are those?
A coffee.
Sips of coffee.
Is that what the...
I always think the Las Vegas bumps a different bump than when you get in Houston.
Yeah, it's different from those summer creek speed bumps.
Oh, my God.
Great masterful job on the editing, by the way, of Conn.
You missed our 10 o'clock and 12 o'clock open.
Connor did some fancy editing, and it absolutely worked.
I have zero problem with us with our audio being completely manipulated.
I'm not on board with this.
Oh, come on.
You can get us saying basically anything you want at some point.
Well, isn't AI doing that for us already?
Yeah, that's true.
People don't know.
We've been doing this show on AI for six weeks now.
Have we really?
All right.
Let me tell you what we got coming up in the next hour.
If you missed our visit with Dan Miller, he's the Voice of the Lions.
We're going to play some of that coming up at a 120 today.
a good conversation there.
And you're going to hear Ross doing a commercial in the middle of it,
and that was purely by accident.
Oh, yeah.
I didn't, my finger must have slipped or something.
I'm so sorry.
Can we clip that out?
No, I think we should do it and then just say this is the point where Ross screwed up.
I did.
I don't know what I did.
I'm sorry.
We're going to try to.
I literally was about to call Connor a liar, but he was like, no, your mic was on.
No, we will edit that part out.
We have non-flora stories today at 130.
Where's your non-flora story from, by the way?
I thought they'd be outside of the state of Florida, Matt.
Okay, very good.
When's that coming up?
What's believing it on?
Oh, my goodness.
What have you been doing?
Spots.
So basically, you've been making all this revenue.
Never let your focus ever change.
I told you this is worse when you're on the road.
There shouldn't be.
I'm right here with you.
I've been here the whole time.
No, you're not here.
You want you to come with me on the road for a couple of roads.
trips. Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma City, Detroit. I don't need to pick Oklahoma City, Detroit
when I've been the top of the list. I'm going to
swing, yeah, I mean, pass on that, roadie.
OKC in Detroit, yikes.
By the way, my non-floor story
is coming from Wisconsin today, so
you'll have it for you at
1.30 this afternoon.
It is weird. Look, and we got a couple people
on Twitter to make knowledge it. It's different for us
to. This is not our normal.
We've had a few time slots. This is
the weirdest of the group, right?
10 to 2.
I've done morning drive.
We've done like late afternoon.
We started 11, done at noon.
So we're working our way through it.
We're going to be significantly better next week than we were this week.
We're just kind of caught off guard by this week.
I'll be ready.
I promise, I won't let you down.
Ross, I feel like it's going to probably give you the same material that's giving you.
Can you come over and make me breakfast in the morning?
Get me ready to go.
So real quick, we got 30 seconds here.
So to explain to the audience, you are definitely not a morning person.
I'm a night owl from a like a night owl.
family tree. Like both of my parents, my sister, brother, we are all, I don't know what it is.
It's just, I need a lot of sleep and I'm a night owl.
So essentially what you do is you go to bed at say 2 o'clock in the morning. Well, you can't do that
anymore. I always say in a perfect world, I need 30-hour days because my brain likes to stay up for 20
hours and then I need like 10 hours of sleep. So I need 30-hour days. The sun could slow down.
That'd be great. I mean, the earth's spinning could slow.
slow down, that'd be great.
Okay.
So now you're getting up and having a full breakfast.
No, I haven't done that yet.
And how many cups of coffee have you had so far today?
Today I've only had
a couple of cups of tea and some
and a monster.
Okay.
You're all jacked up.
I love it.
It's not great.
Why is it, Jones says I'm being snarky today.
What have I said snark?
You're snarky every day, Maddie.
I was going to say, what else?
What's the difference?
I don't think I've had ever been any.
different on this.
All right.
Final hour of the radio
program coming up in a matter of moment.
713-212-5-7-90.

This is the Matt Thomas show.
It is our final hour of the week on Sports Talk 790.
With Ross, I'm Matt.
I'm here in Oklahoma City.
Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.
We'll have the pregame show beginning at 630.
launch pad at 6 and we'll tip it off shortly past 7 o'clock here from oklahoma city
sunday it'll be the rockets in detroit to take on the pistons meanwhile the lions will be down
in houston to take on the texans for a 720 kickoff nico collins at practice today
he has been cleared was off of the injured reserve list and designated to practice
doesn't necessarily mean he's going to play on sunday but if you're just a social media consumer
there's a lot of excitement coming off of the texans twitter account that shows nico dancing
around feeling good ready to go
who the hell knows
and again maybe they'll keep
this super super tight until
they have to and maybe we'll wait till
Saturday but at least he's off the
injured list at least the hamstring
looks like and again we're going off
of just a couple of photos in which the
Texans media department sends out to the
internet
he's ready to play
and that's going to be a good thing especially with Stefan
Diggs being gone
can the Texans move the ball with
Nico Collins
and would Tank Dell be in the one-two combination?
Absolutely.
Will they have issues Sunday doing it if Tank Dell is the main go-to guy?
Now, Tank was the main go-to guy last week against the Jets, and it worked out well.
The question is, Rossi, is anybody else going to, I mean, it says Hutchison take the opportunity here.
Does Dalton Schultz kind of step up?
He's had a disappointing season.
I'm surprised that tight-end spot overall has not been more productive offensive than it's been so far this year.
we would have liked to see more from Dalton Schultz for sure I think he has the the targets in the yards and all that have ticked up but he still doesn't have a touchdown although Dalton Schultz fan number one I believe had a gut feeling that he's going to get his first touchdown this weekend that would be nice I think obviously it'd be huge having Nico Collins back I don't think it's going to happen John Metchie has been getting a little bit open and then he was missed a couple of times but you know it's not like he's Stefan Diggs and he's not going to be it's going to take it's a
takes a village, Matt. It's like, you know, in Moneyball, when they're like, oh, we're losing,
who is the player that they're losing? I can't even remember. It was, uh, uh, what was that guy
with the brother, brother and he went to the Yankees and got busted for steroids? Oh,
Giambi. Jambi, yeah. It's like, okay, we're not going to be able to, we're not going to
be able to make up Stefan Diggs production in one player. What you have to do is a little bit of
Xavier Hutchinson, it's a little bit, a little bit of Dalton Schultz, a little bit of John
Mechie. So you have to do it as a conglomeration as the different spots are going to be open on the field,
be aware of those spots, and then of course more Tank Dell as well, which is so far what you've been
getting. You know what's interesting to me, Ross, is that last year at the start of the
2020-season season, it was widely regarded that the Houston Texans had the worst wide receiver
core in the league, right? 29th or 30th. Yes. Then Nico Collins takes this super
jump. Then Tank Dell becomes his third round surprise and is really good until he gets hurt.
Then you add those two guys to adding Stefan Diggs through the tray with Buffalo, and I would
say the consensus was the Texans would have say at least at the bare minimum, a top 10
receiving group. You fast forward to Nico being gone for a while. You fast forward to Stefan Diggs
missing now the rest of the season, and it feels more.
More like who's going to step up as compared to it's an environment of riches right now for the Texas receivers.
Yeah, it's been a precipitous fall, and you brought it up.
So I just Googled and Pro Football Focus and June did do a receiving core ranking list.
They had the Texans 5th.
Wow.
Niners, dolphins, Eagles, Bears, Texans.
I mean, that sounds about right to me.
Yeah.
But it's interesting because.
we're sitting here getting ready for this game on Sunday
and we're trying to figure out
well can Del do it by himself
and he almost did it by himself last week
yeah he was great he got the 50 yard catch
he was downfield I mean he got a lot of what did he get
was it six catches or whatever for over 120 yards
he's been getting a lot of targets he's going to get a lot of targets
he is their biggest difference maker so
however Adam and Adam want to argue about it
he's their WR1
uh oh they doing that this week again
I don't know.
By the way, I need a ruling on wide receivers in general.
Okay.
This is not just the Texans.
It's everybody in the NFL.
Every time a, I shouldn't say every time, many times a wide receiver in the NFL catches a ball, gets the first down.
As soon as he gets up, he points the other direction to indicate first down.
Everybody in their mother is doing it right now.
The Texans do the, they kind of spin.
they do a whirling thing and then they go a first down.
They do a couple around the worlds with their fingers pointed and then they do a first down.
That's their thing they've been doing.
So it's not for me to decide how you motivate yourself and how to motivate the fans and motivate your teammates.
That's what everybody does.
I mean, everybody has to motivate themselves in different ways.
But I'm noticing a trend of every time a receiver gets a first down,
it's not hand the ball back to the official.
It's not high-five on a teammate.
It's not running back to the huddle to get back going.
It's, I got to show you I got that first down.
I don't know if it's a bad thing or a good thing.
It just feels like it's been more excessive than anything else.
I don't like it when players do that and they're down like 21.
So you have to kind of know the time and space.
Congratulations.
It was like a third and 12 and it's a big time catch.
I'm all for it.
I like it a lot better than.
Feels like time in a place.
You're down 21 and there's six minutes left in the game.
Like, get back at the huddle.
Yeah.
It almost feels like to me if you just did it once or twice,
it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
Same thing with these interception celebrations where they go
and they pretend they're bowling pins.
If you're down 21 to 6.
You've got to have fun, Maddie.
Oh, yeah, if you're down 21 to 6.
The other team has put like 35 on you.
Yeah.
Like the running, you didn't even call.
force the fumble.
Like there was an exchange between the quarterback and the running back and they dropped it.
And you're acting like you just forced this great turnover.
Like, come on.
Yeah.
And I love, you know, our buddy Whitney Merciless.
He would do the air guitar stuff and the team was down like three touchdowns.
Or this is a good one.
Camarie Lasseter's been doing this.
Like he gets blown by on coverage and then the quarterback underthrows it.
This is every DB.
I'm not trying to call on Kamari Lassar.
Yeah, yeah.
I know.
He gets like they get blown by on coverage, a double move.
they're like 10 yards behind, but the quarterback under throws it,
and all of a sudden it falls to the ground,
and they're like, yeah, incomplete.
They do the little incomplete symbol or like fold their arms
and kind of roll their shoulders.
Or they get their index fingers out and say, uh-uh, not on me.
It's like my guy.
You were burnt toast on that play.
Come on.
We're watching the same game you're playing in.
We know exactly what happened.
I have eyeballs.
I saw him 10 yards in front of you,
and then the quarterback under threw it.
That's right.
What I will say this, I do like, you know, for the longest time the NFL was hammering players for celebrating.
At least they'll let these guys have some fun now.
So I'd rather there be too much than none at all.
I'd rather, I'm glad that you can do the dance moves in the end zone or you can pretend you guys are bowling pins.
That gives me a little bit of, it shows the game is still fun where if you did that 10 years ago, Ross, you were flying immediately.
The NFL has really backed off on them.
The only time they ever throw a flag is if you do it in front of an opponent's face
or right in front of their sideline or something to be antagonistic.
There's a difference between going to the end zone and goofing around and taking photos,
fake photos as compared to going to the 50-yard line and stopping on it
and having George T. come over there and try to kick your ass.
They've done some weak ones, though.
I think like when Stefan Diggs scored a touchdown against the Patriots
and he kind of spun the ball at kind of near Christian Gonzalez's feet.
It was like in his general direction and he got a taunting penalty.
I thought that was weak.
Yeah, but I would say generally speaking, it's been a lot.
They've given you a lot more liberties because there was a time where you couldn't do anything
or you were getting flagged.
Right.
And honestly, these officials have so much to worry about.
Just get the calls right.
Like calling face masks in overtime.
I'm all for eliminating the taunting penalty in general.
Well, I wouldn't say that.
I think if you do it too much and you try to do it to show somebody up,
then that's going to cause fights.
And that's the last thing the NFL.
Well, then throw them out for fighting.
So you're saying if you taunt and a fight starts just skip the preamble,
go right to the main thing.
Yeah, what do you mean?
Say that again?
Like you're saying, because the taunt, the flag is to prevent the fights.
The NFL throws the taunt.
Is it to prevent fights?
I think they prevent it just because they're like,
oh, they're not conducting them.
ourselves as sportsmen.
I think it's these old foggy owners
who are really pushing the
taunting thing the last couple of years.
That was a story that came out. I can't remember who wrote it.
An old fogey owner.
Imagine that. It's funny,
you don't, in 20204, you don't say that young
bright,
energetic young guy
running things.
Not usually. They're all like 75
years old with smoking jackets on.
Unless his dad croaked and he inherited the team,
that's pretty much, yeah, not going to happen.
Ooh.
I don't know what you're thinking about there.
Well, those guys at least...
Who's the youngest NFL owner?
I don't even know.
Oh, my God.
Well, Cal's in his 60s.
I mean, youngest NFL owner?
What about...
I think the owner of the Broncos
got to be in his 50s?
Who's the new owner of the commanders?
Is that guy young?
Oh, I think he is.
John Harris, he's 59.
That's, okay, that's young, relatively speaking.
Clark Con is the young.
youngest, but he inherited the team.
Hell, Mark Davis, we said, was in his mid-60s yesterday.
I remember we were talking about him.
Michael Bidwell of the Cardinals.
That's, didn't take him dad.
That was an inheritance, right?
Yeah, absolutely.
Brian Glazer of the Buccaneers.
Inherited from Malcolm, his dad.
And then the next youngest, fifth youngest, is Steve Biscotti, Baltimore Ravens.
And how old is he?
64.
Yeah, so basically the rule is you got to, you know, first of all, how many billionaires
are 33?
unless again, you inherited from your father.
That's right.
That's right.
All right, let's check in in Detroit next.
We'll do that.
114 is our time.
It is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
We've got the non-Flority stories coming up in about 15 minutes.
And hell yeah or not in about 35 here on Sports Talk 790.

service.
Matt Thomas returns on Sports Talk 790.
Had a chance earlier today to catch up with the voice of the Detroit Lions,
Dan Miller.
He works for the Fox News affiliate in Detroit, but also calls their games.
And we've talked about a variety of things that will be, I think, good for you guys,
including talking about how excited Detroit is for this team, probably the closest they've
ever been to being a Super Bowl contender.
We also discussed Dan Campbell and that,
Lions secondary, especially of
Nico Collins. We don't know if he's going to play, but if
he does, how are they prepared for it?
Here again is my visit with
the voice, Dan Miller of the Detroit Lions,
about what it's like to be calling games
for a team that might be headed to their first
ever Vince Lombardi
game. Really, at
the end of 2022, when they were
an 8 out of 10 to close the season, and then
came right back. Last year
started the season with the winning Kansas City
the night they hung the banner. You started
to believe there was something happening here that
that was real.
And then to see them win the division last year,
something they hadn't done in 30 years,
to beat the Rams, to beat the Bucks,
to get the NFC championship game,
and basically 30 minutes away from a Super Bowl,
you understand what they've got.
And I think the most impressive thing about it, Matt,
is that it's built on a firm foundation
with young players that are developing and getting better,
whereas in the past we'd seen maybe a Lions team
that got to the playoffs
and it looked like it was just kind of, you know, put together with sticks and glue.
Had a chance, but nothing really that was going to last.
So, yeah, it's exciting.
They're legitimately good.
They are playing great football right now.
They've endured some injuries, but it's, I think the most that Lions fans have been able to sink their teeth into it a long, long time.
Let me ask you this to go back to your memory banks a little bit, if you don't mind.
The day that Matthew Stafford gets moved to Los Angeles in return for Jared Gough,
the reaction to Detroit sports fans, people that cover the team, guys like yourself,
is saying, what are we doing here, or was it time for Matthew to go?
And then fast forward to now about the development of golf as a quarterback while wearing the lion's gear.
Yeah, completely respectful of Matthew, it was time to go.
They just needed to turn the page.
Now, the acquisition of Jared Goff, I don't think a lot of us thought that he was going to be the long-term quarterback in Detroit.
I thought there was a chance.
I knew they had to rehabilitate him, and I'd seen him take a team, you know, into the playoffs and into a Super Bowl,
and he had done some good things, but he had just fallen.
It seemed so far off the map in L.A., and they had lost faith in him, and certainly seemed like they were just shipping him out.
But I will say this, the guys that believed that he could be the lion's next starting quarterback for the long term were the general manager Brad Holmes and his assistant general manager Ray Agnew, both of whom were in L.A. when they drafted him, and both of whom were part of the Rams organization that saw him play his best football out there.
So while I think the widespread view was he's a place older, he's a bridge quarterback, I think they felt like,
this guy with the right team around him can be the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions,
and I think that belief has been borne out,
and Jared is now playing the best football of his career and really put together a one-month stretch here
that you could throw some numbers up there that no quarterback in NFL history has ever put together
in terms of completion percentage, quarterback rating,
and getting through a tough five-week stretch here that we looked at at the beginning of the year
and thought, man, that's going to be probably the most difficult part of their schedule.
And he's been at his best.
The talent of Dan Miller, the voice of the Lions with us here on his Sports Talk 790 coming to you from Oklahoma City.
You do a weekly segment with Dan Campbell.
We obviously only get sound bites and whatnot.
Obviously, the guys love him.
The city loves him.
He's atypical of the typical coach speak that we'll see around the NFL circles.
But take us into your world a little bit.
You get a chance to talk with him on, I'm assuming.
several times during the week, whether it's on television or radio.
They can get caught up in their own little world,
and it is about what they're doing and not worry about.
about anybody else.
He's a heck of a person.
I think that's where you start with him.
His wife's outstanding.
He's got a great family.
And I think that's kind of what permeates everything he does.
There's a consistency to him.
He's the exact same person if you're sitting on the couch talking to him,
doing an interview as if you were drinking a beer in the corner,
as if you were spending any time with him.
He doesn't change.
I've not seen him lose his temper ever in a press conference.
I've not seen him ever let somebody get under his skin.
He has an ability to just kind of go with the flow.
And I think the players appreciate.
They appreciate the consistency.
They appreciate the honesty.
They appreciate always knowing where they stand.
They appreciate the fact that he clearly cares about them
and wants to do best by them and give them the best opportunity to succeed.
He has been exactly what Detroit needed.
And, you know, his initial press conference was the whole kneecap thing that everybody pulled that 30 seconds out.
But I tell you, we've seen a lot of press conferences here because unfortunately we've changed a lot of coaches with the lions, with the tigers, with the pistons, with the red wings.
That was the best introductory press conference I'd ever seen because he said the things that people needed to hear.
And it wasn't blowing smoke.
It wasn't just blue skies.
It was about what the vision was, what it was going to take.
and I think it resonated with people right away.
But he just has an infectious, charismatic personality that I think people like, I think players like,
and it has been perfect for Detroit.
Dan, Aidan Hutchinson's leg injury was gruesome, sad for a lot of Detroit Lions fans.
Like, what's going to happen now?
You lose one of the best defensive players in the game.
Zadarius Smith comes in the trade.
First of all, what do you know about Zadarius except on the opposite side calling games?
games against the Browns, and then what's his availability for Sunday, do you think?
Yeah, I think that's up in the air.
I think there's a chance you won't play.
I think they are cognizant of the fact that this was his byweek, and he stayed in
Cleveland, and he's a 32-year-old guy who, if he played, would be on schedule for 18 games.
And I think they are cognizant of the fact that he might need a little downtime before he
jumps in there.
They gave him some time to go back home and get everything in order, and he just came back
today. So obviously it's going to be a crash course in the playbook. If he plays, it'll be a
limited snap count. Look, here's what I know about him, and he's been in the NFC North, so we've seen
him for quite some time. He's 32 years old, so he's not what he was when he was 26, but he still
can provide something that they desperately need, and that's an ability to get out to the
quarterback, because when Aiden went down and Marcus Davenport went down, and Derek Barnes
went down. You know, they lost three of their best edge guys. And John Kaminsky was another guy
that went down for them earlier this year in training camp. So they really needed something,
and he walks in the door as their best edge rusher. So again, don't know if he's going to play
this week. Josh Paskell will be back. He's a former second round pick that I know they're hoping
is going to be able to take some steps this year and help them out. But it is a question
Mark, Matt, about this team and what they're going to be able to accomplish if they can't
get that pass rush going because it's been a problem.
Even the last couple of weeks when we've played some quarterbacks, you know, Jordan Love
wasn't 100%.
Mason Rudolph isn't top of the line when it comes to NFL starters, but they've got a lot of time
back there, and it's hard to survive in this league if you're not at least impacting the
passer somehow.
Lastly, Dan, as you and I are speaking, the Texans have activated Nico Collins and put
him on the, off of the
injured reserve list, he can now open
to practice today, so that's going to be a very
encouraging sign for Texans fans.
Tell me what the lion's secondary will be
like if indeed Nico Collins and
Tankdale are the main two guys that C.J.
Stroud can throw to on Sunday.
Yeah, their secondary
is a lot better. They got
two guys playing great at safety right now.
Kirby Joseph and Brian Branch
are two of the highest rated safeties.
If you look at PFF or
one of those sites, they've been
outstanding. And Terry and Arnold, the rookie first round pick, has gotten better. Carlton Davis,
a veteran has been a great ad for them. Amique Robertson, a veteran that they signed as a free agent,
has been solid as a nickel. So look, their secondary is good. It's worlds better than it was last
year. But again, I think the equalizer is if you can't pressure Stroud into throwing the ball,
maybe a little bit before he wants to, or at least force him to get it out of there, and he's got a lot of
time back there. A lot of
of quarterbacks in this league are going to pick you apart, and he's
certainly one of them. So that's one of the things I'm
watching in this game. Look, we saw
what happened last time out against the Jets. He
got roughed up, that offensive line,
in particular in the middle, where the Lions
do have some strength with DJ Reeder
and Aline McNeil.
Houston's been vulnerable there, so
the Lions have to
find a way to impact him, or else
he can, you know, make
these receivers into big play guys,
and that can be problematic for Detroit. So I
think if you're looking at this game, that's something to keep an eye on. Is Detroit getting a
pass rush or is Houston able to function offensively with Stroud kind of having time back there?
And if that is, that that's problematic for Detroit.
And again, our thanks, Dan Miller from Fox 2 in Detroit and also the radio voice of the Detroit Lions
joining us here on the show. Let's get to some non-Florida stories next. We'll do that at 131 here

It's time for non-
All right, here we go.
Time now for Non-Florida Stories.
Which changing's up a little bit.
Connor, you will go first today on the Florida Stories.
Oh, yeah, I'm ready to go.
Hold on one second.
Oh, I'm sorry.
You can't say I'm ready to go, then hold on one second.
Those two statements conflict.
When have I ever gone first?
Today's today.
Trying to throw you off a little bit.
By the way, Adam Clinton is in here and he is wearing a pricey, a rocket's jacket, as we all predicted.
There's zero stunner on that, bad boy.
All right, I'll go.
A New York man, Mark Longo, age 34, rescued a squirrel named peanut and a raccoon named Fred,
and turned them into social media stars, amassing hundreds of thousands of followers
by filming videos with his beloved pets in his home.
However, the Department of Environmental Conservation received anonymous complaints about Peanut and Fred and brought at least six officers to raid Longo's home.
Wow!
And they took the squirrel and raccoon and the animals were eventually euthanized.
This was a huge story earlier this week with the Department of Environmental Conservation having to answer questions constantly about Fred and Peanut.
Longo was aware that it is against New York state law to own a wild animal without a license, but he was in the process of filing paperwork to get Peanut Certified as an educational
animal. So peanut and Fred, social media
stars gone too soon.
Peanut, the squirrel?
That's the name of the squirrel?
And Fred the raccoon.
And Fred the raccoon.
Dead.
Home rated.
It seems like a good use of government
resources. Find some harmless
raccoon and squirrel and have
them euthanized?
They put on a YouTube channel or no?
They didn't euthanize. No,
the euthanization?
Yeah, why not?
Let me shake things up.
What kind of sick human being are you, Matt?
You want to see a raccoon put to death?
You make me sick.
Speaking of sick, I have this...
First Harambe and now peanut.
I know.
And what was the other one?
Oh, you're talking about the ape?
Yeah.
You don't remember Harambe getting shot to death?
There was a lot of coverage on that.
There was a lot of coverage.
Probably way too much.
All right.
Ross, I'll go second.
Okay.
You ever been to famous Yeti's Pizza in Wisconsin?
No, I have not been to famous Yeti's P.
Are Yeties known for making good pizza?
I didn't know this.
One of the cooks was looking to make a batch of dough,
and he grabbed the wrong oil to make this batch of dough.
Explain.
This batch of dough was going to make 60 pizzas in which it did.
and unfortunately was something in the oil that was grabbed that was not part of the essential baking ingredients to make a successful pizza dough.
What was in this contaminated oil?
THC.
Oh, so their sales are through the roof after that.
For those that don't know, THC is a form of marijuana.
It's the chemical in marijuana, the psychoactive, or I don't even know, whatever.
Yeah, it's illegal in Wisconsin, but products such as THC derived from the hemp plant are legal.
Health officials said the oil in question can be used to make everything from cookies to condiments.
So, apparently, a bunch of people ordered pizza from this famous Yeti's pizza in Dane County, Wisconsin.
And several people apparently were, several dozens of people were sick because of this.
Now, you see this was an, there's no way this was an accident.
health officials said they have received dozens of reports of people who recently got sick from the pizza and are still taking reports.
THC related symptoms can include dizziness, increased blood pressure, vomiting, anxiety, paranoia, and hallucinations.
So it looks like the THC was working.
In hunger.
Oh, well, apparently, this is a bad idea.
Who was doing this?
Children ate the pizza?
It didn't say the ages on this.
No, I'm reading, I went to Public Health, Madison, and Dane County, and it's saying that children,
as you as young as one years old ate the food.
Oh, no.
First one, a one-year-old is eating pizza?
No, you're not supposed to feed a one-year-old pizza.
There's no way.
Unless they're gumming it.
Hmm.
Unless you're doing like a motherbird, you chew it,
and then you spit it in the baby's mouth.
The owner of Famous Yeti's Pizza,
Kail Ryan said, quote,
they really got stoned.
Wouldn't it?
Hmm.
They got intoxicated from the THC, so I think it's more alarming than anything to feel that way.
It's basically eating an edible, but without knowing.
Now, if you bake the pizza oil, that's not like smoking or burning it off?
We need a scientist on this.
Does it still have the same effects?
I guess you bake it in cookies and it works, so yeah, I guess it would.
These are questions that will require additional research from yourself, I think?
We can get some hands-on research going.
Let me get up to Wisconsin.
just be careful to oil you're putting your dough.
That's all the, that's the, that's the, that's the, there's no way that was an accident.
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
No.
I don't even know what to say now.
There's no way that could have been done accidentally.
No, you don't accidentally, you're not trying to grab a bottle of olive oil.
Well, where did this oil, how does oil get put in the, in the restaurant to begin with?
That's what I want to know.
Well, somebody, some stoner brought it.
I guess they thought they were going to be.
funny and serve a bunch of people up some weed pizza.
But, I mean, do you think this guy was like...
It's also a waste of money.
Yeah.
Why would you...
Yeah, you don't want...
No, I don't think it was an ad.
I don't think it was unintentionally.
I don't want to search how much THC oil costs on my work laptop.
So maybe you can do that for them then.
Put on your phone.
You can do that for us, Matt, but...
It seems like a waste of money.
Yeah.
So, well, thankfully nobody is...
I mean, they got Stone and probably vaughan.
dominated, but that's probably as bad as it got, hopefully.
But first of all, there's no way
of one-year-old's knocking back a pepperoni with
mushroom pizza.
Hmm. I mean, Stoners and Pizza is
a classic combo, Matt. It's true.
Fast time in the Ridge of Mount High. They brought
a pizza to class.
I missed that, but I only saw, I've only seen
one scene of that movie. Oh, I bet
I know which one it was.
It is a good scene. And those weren't hers, I don't think.
Just saying that.
And that's my non-flora story.
Thank you, Matt.
Matt, where they are we done? Do we have time for mine?
I don't even know if we have time.
Hurry quickly, go.
Oh, I lost it. Oh, wait a minute.
Where did it go?
Yes, some monkeys have escaped, Matt.
43 monkeys have escaped a South Carolina research facility.
Police warned residents to secure doors and windows.
This is in Beaufort County.
South Carolina, 43 primates have broken loose from the Alpha Genesis facility, whatever that is.
This sounds like to start to a horror movie.
Yamassi Police Department is trying to locate and capture the monkeys.
Isn't there a song with George Michael, where is your monkey?
I don't know.
Okay.
How many monkeys were gone?
I think he was acutely aware of where all his monkeys were.
Yeah, okay, that's enough.
The man's dead.
Let's go.
May he rest.
How many monkeys all together?
43 monkeys are on the loose in South Carolina.
When's the last time we saw 43 monkeys in one sitting?
The CEO of Alpha Genesis said, quote, being goofy monkeys jumping back and forth playing with each other.
It's a playground situation, but the monkeys are kind of being chill about it so far it looks like.
Hopefully they can be found.
Do you know where all your monkeys are, Matt?
I don't carry any monkeys with me.
I know you're a monkey enthusiast like Jerry Jones?
Let's play Hellier or not get out of this train wreck.
