You're the radio voice. It's close to the vest. I get it. It's too close. I understand. You're too close to the situation, like Jameson said. It's, I get it. But I will say it. Spurs are better. I mean, they just, they just beat you up and down the floor by 25 in their seven and a half games ahead of you. Well, you've got Toronto and Denver coming up.

Two more playoff teams. I choose to focus on the positive. Okay. You can win those games. Every game. Then you have a big, pivotal, pivotal five game homestand.

Two Lakers in a row. Two Lakers games. They're going to be favored in every single of those five games. Are they going to win all five of them? I don't know. But they're going to be favored in all five of them. Can I say, boys, Jonathan, you are the gut-feeling king as of late. Can I say five out of seven would be okay?

Would that be good enough to hold on to three slash four in the West? You know what? I think so. Five out of seven, maybe you can get rid of four. I don't know. I think anything less than five out of seven would be a major disappointment. Timber Wolf's been playing some good balls. All right, enough from you.

Well there's a reason why I mean Victor Wembe Gama Can change teams. If the Rockets would have gotten Victor, they would have put San Antonio in the pasture. And I love Adam Clinton like a brother. And he's going to get hurt because 7 foot four guys that are less than 260 pounds. Well, first of all, anybody that 7 foot four is going to get hurt. It's just the reality. There's too much history behind it. But when he's playing, he kicks your ass. He's playing right now. He can talk about his legs breaking down when he's 30. He's 22 or whatever right now. And he's playing at a, and he's going to get MVP votes. He is. He's not going to win it, but he's going to get MVP.

He's not going to win it. Although, is he going to play enough games? I think so. You don't only play 29 minutes a game. He doesn't even play a full 30. He blocks three shots a game. He had four yesterday. The spurs are aware as we are, the leg's possibility of breaking down.

Oh, no, they pull him. You notice a substitutional patterns. He only plays in like a little four and five-minute stretches. Yes. I mean, they have the sports science knows these things. And you can also do, that's also the dangerous thing. It's not only him, it's the entire team. they dose the minutes.

And they're still 47 and 17. And they go to playoffs, I wonder if they're going to take the governors off, everyone, including Victor Wimbunyama. I would imagine they will because they want to win a championship. There's no reason they should be scared of the thunder. Why are they not thinking championship this year?

years of spurs are in the playoffs, something like that? We're getting Jonathan Allen. Jonathan Allen was doing that to people in high school and now the spurs are doing it to the Rockets. So I need, you always come to me for advice on things. I'm coming to you for advice. Okay. How we'll go fix this? Yeah, well, you got to focus on yourself, Matt. Oh, damn it.

I hate you about you want us to look at something the eye. Don't look to the spurs. Focus on not turning the ball over as much. Focus on your spacing. Focus on not getting the bad turnovers. they kind of just got smoked. They said line it up and they got smoked. That's what happened last night. It wasn't a bunch of turnovers. I mean, they did shoot poorly from three and the Spurs shot better, but they're just a man for man, they're better than you.

That's the problem. So when, and I guess I'm going to have to say this at the end of the year, when can I go, look, I'm not going to regret the Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks for Kevin Durant entry. That's not, that's not, that's not, never going to happen on my watch because Kevin's been, Kevin has been the go-to score that you absolutely must have had to take the next step. Although Jalen Green had a good night for the sons. Yeah. He's been terrible all season though. Yeah. He's hadn't played very much, actually. But do we, do we just put in a nutshell that Fred and then the later injury to Stephen has just, it's destroyed the team in terms of really do want to be in a top two spot? I mean, it is,

for Fred, and there was a lot of Fred hate last year. Oh my God. Too much. Don't get me started on Rocket. Too many freaking Simp Rocket fans out there. And thank God I've muted most of them. But the reality is, Fred's 30. Fred can hit the three.

Fred runs things, but last night, that wasn't about Fred not being on the floor. Because Fred's not going to try to, it's not going to dee up Wemba Nama anymore than Reed Shepard did last night. that was a matchup last that was way too much well it happens

I think it's more about the Spurs growth the Spurs being ahead of schedule I wanted to say it not coming across is come on it's more about the Spurs being ahead of schedule even with Fred Van Vleck I actually put that on my poll on my Twitter account last night and of course recency bias they just got smoked by the Spurs so would the Rockets be better than the Spurs

with a healthy Fred Van Fleet and Stephen Adams it's a 58% no 42% yes. The reality is this, and it's very painful to say, the Spurs got a generational player. They got last year's rookie of the year who's taking the next step and was taken after Reed Shepard. That's a fact. It's a fact. And by way, Reed is playing well. Reed is playing. I like Reed a lot. Reed is playing to the level that the Rockets wanted him to be. Now, defensively still working on it, but it's still getting better. He's getting better all over the place. Every single night, Reed is showing signs of, this was a good selection.

And you can have good selections. Multiple teams can be very proud of their top five picks. Yes. But it wasn't even a question of rebounding yesterday. It wasn't, I mean, like, Stephen not being out there doesn't necessarily defend things differently. It keeps possessions alive, maybe a little bit more. You know, Dorian Finney had a decent game offensively, but that has been a huge part of the team. They really wanted him to come through and be that guy like he had been through much his NBA career.

And that hasn't happened. it's some Tarry has really struggled as a really struggled as of like... You're not 20... Tari's been bad. You're not 25 points worse than the Spurs. They shot pretty hot from three and you're kind of cold.

But I mean, even if you leveled that playing field, you're not good enough. Ross has to tell the truth today. You don't respond to my text, but I'm assuming that you got it. Oh, you sent it like it was like midnight. That's because I was still sitting on the plane and it's nothing else to do.

But he was reverse dunking on you. Can I say that it actually felt like he didn't even have that good of a game? He had 29 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, and an assist. And it felt like that was just, it felt like he didn't impact the game as much as he could have or should have. He didn't play it with the, how did he play the fourth quarter of anything else? I can pull it up. 29 point something something minutes. And he did a lot of his damage at the free throw line, but he was getting fouled.

Now, the one thing I don't think is he's going to have to bulk up a little bit because every time Rossi, he gets touched, he hits the court, and that's not going to be good for him. Yeah, but how much can he bulk up? I don't know. He's going to fill in it somewhat, but you don't know how much he can bulk up. It's going to be very interesting to watch his career develop as the years ago, long. As of right now, he's still one of the best, he's one of the, five,

I follow the WBC account. I thought some of the highlights have been cool. The crowds have been good. It's been interesting to me. Like that 17 year old kid from Brazil striking out Aaron, not striking out, getting a double play from

Aaron Judge with a bases loaded. That's cool. I think it's very interesting. My interest level is higher than more than I've been watching the games, I would say. See, it's funny because I was more upset about Christian Walker grounding in a double play with a bases loaded in Florida over the weekend than I was by the WBC. I didn't even know that Christian Walker

Those teams are both young, and they have a lot of their major pieces under contract. A major shake-up is needed this off-season from the Rockets.

They need to go Janus hunting this off-season. You have too much going on with the NCAA, with the presidents, with the commissioners, with all that. Northwestern tried to do it a few years ago, and I don't know exactly the solution. But whether it be college football players doing it on their own or teams, as I said, Northwestern try to do it, or college basketball players or teams, the players have to form unions. That is the only pathway to fixing college sports. You have Congress getting involved. You have Donny T. getting involved with this college conference and all this other stuff. The word is unionization to help all these massive problems with college sports. Okay?

Number three. I don't want to be overreactionary guy when it comes to spring training. But I'm worried about Zach Cole. I'm worried about Cam Smith. I'm worried about the backup catcher situation. I'm worried about Jose Altuvae. declining another year. Carlos Correa already having back spasms

and having some issues. Jeremy Pena's got a fractured finger. Astros' offense is going to be bottom half. Last year, they were 15th and OPS. I'm not saying they're going to be like 25th or 30th. Probably the sweet spot is around 15 to 20. But in terms of team OPS, where last year the Astros were 15th,

this upcoming year, they're going to be worse than last year. I'll put it that one. They're going to be worse than last year, in terms of team OPS. Okay. Number four. Ed Ingram is back, baby.

Trent Brown is back, baby. I do think Arionte Erisori can improve. Blake Fisher will see. I know last year, the Texans' offensive line was not great. At some points, though, in PFF rankings, they got up to 18th,

and I believe for one week they were up to 16th. Last year, I said they'd be top 25. It was kind of almost a joke. But I was serious. This year, I'm going to say they can at least be league average with a full year of Trent Brown, a full year of Ed Ingram, and with some improvement from some other guys and some draft picks. I'm saying just top 20. I'm not saying they're going to go crazy with it.

I'm saying top 20 only, according to PFF, for the Texans offensive line. And three of these four lies? Yes. Huh. This turned to be much more complex. complex, John, than I thought it was going to be. So recap the four again. Yes, Rockets need to go big Janus hunting in the offseason. Okay.

But it would be cool if they went and got somebody that was like four-time all-pro offensive linemen or seven. I mean, like Laramie Townsend just signed a rene new deal in Washington. Another two-year contract today, just literally minutes ago. No, good for him. I don't know if they're excited about that or not. He was great. He takes a lot of money from people. He was great last year, and I think he only had like three false starts.

Which is really good because that was not for him. He was a false start machine down here in Houston. Yes, he was. He wants to make sure he keeps those pressure rates down. False starts don't show up on the pressure rate chart. Here is the reality of it when it comes to Texans. The next time we're going to be super interested in something they do will be when Will Anderson gets a big deal. I mean, the draft will come up, but you're not going to large know who they are,

unless you're just a guy that studies a draft 24-7. They're not looking to go get a marquee skill position player. They really weren't in the Kenneth Walker sweepstakes. Yeah, but we can look into it. We're supposed to know more than the casual. But if the casual doesn't care, I'm not going to spend time talking about it, but the casual doesn't care about it. What I want is, I want to go in August and September and know the five guys at Nick

Aserio, who is paid to assemble this roster, puts them together, giving the quarterback who I do care about the best possible opportunity to succeed. Yeah, it just brings clearer into focus what could happen in the draft as well. And they need to do some rebuilding. How much do they believe in Ariante Ersary in being the guy? I'm going to imagine they still do. I would think so. You have your own choices.

You're going to be biased towards your own choices. So Nick Casario probably thinks the stock is going to go up with Arionte Ersary. It has to. He has to hit on some offensive linemen here soon, right? Who's been the best offensive linemen he's drafted? This is a question for Wix. Money is good, contract length is good. We don't have to worry about that.

It feels like, what is it, Ross, when you were always, when you think you've got something solved, but then you're, like, it's like you're putting some sort of like a monkey, you can't find the one, but you keep finding, you keep finding decent options, but you can't find the one. You're putting a lipstick on a pig, so to speak. Oh, wow.

So that's what we have to wonder. Do we have to wonder is it when we don't know? Really? Does the Carolina Panthers whiff on wide receivers year after year? Yeah, the evidence feels like it's bad process. It just feels like that. Yeah. But where the

And he doesn't because he's Nick Casario bot. He's a robot. He's going to take his emotions out of it. And he's going to try to improve the team increment. His splash hires or re-signings are guys that here are his draft picks. Splashy with Petrie. Splashy with Stingley. Correct.

Going to be splashy with Lasseter. Going to be splashy with Will Anderson eventually. They swung for the fences when they picked two and three, but how much of that was orders from high, on high?
