Was Steve Sarkisian Wrong for Brushing Off Holly Rowe?

I was feeling pretty good. I know you and Matt talked about Holly Roegate yesterday. Yeah, I thought it was Bush League by Sark. I did too. Dude, it started at halftime when they go to Laura Rutledge, who has Sark. Hey, guys, yeah, we actually don't have Sark because we had some technical issues and he had to go. He waited for a minute, but he had to go. And so people were like, they were covering for him, by the way.

People were saying they made an excuse there. Like he didn't stick around that they just, they were like, oh, it's awesome. Oh, yeah, it's our fall. It's my fault. Well, then, postgame, it seemed like Holly Grove got to him pretty quick. It didn't feel like he was waiting around two minutes for them to throw them. Yeah, Longhorn fans are trying to say there was more technical difficulties. I did not see any kind of reporting about that.

But I'm like, when? I read that, but you said. The game ended and she got to it. Right. I'm with you on that. I'm with you on that. I'm not going to go Longhorn Homer on you here. I thought, and this is not the first time we've seen this from Sark.

And as you know, Gordy, the coaches are the faces of these leagues. And you're battling. You're battling with Georgia, Alabama, A&M, LSU, Oklahoma for all these recruits. Get a little FaceTime. Yes. Well, and not only that. Get a little face time and say, hey, this is what we do at the University of Texas. Exactly.

We don't back down. That's your chance to peacock. You want to say so many people are like, well, you don't get anything out of those interviews anyway. It ain't about the question. Right. It's about your opportunity to brag on your team. I agree that the viewer normally, especially pregame, especially at halftime.

Yeah, we're going to go and we're going to execute it. We've got to make sure we don't turn the ball over. Yeah, pregame and halftime, that's nothing. But post-game, when you have a historic comeback for your program at home against the number one team in the country, go out there, go full Shug Night. Just go, yeah, you want to go over there to Bad Boy Records, or you want to come over to Death Row Records. We're not going to be all the videos. We're going to beat Ohio State, and we're going to go be number one because we're Longhorned. You want to wear burn orange.

Go full, full-on, stump. Do a 30-second commercial for the. the University of Texas football. Well, and the other part of it is, in this revenue share age, TV is paying for your team. So, like, you, to blow them off, you act like we don't need TV. Okay, sir, then go back to the Longhorn Network. Like, you need these revenue dollars.

You need the TV. Yes, you might have to wait an extra 30 seconds, but I'm sorry, they control the, they make the rules, the TV. I got another crazy idea. Why don't you congratulate your players and your staff for a well-fought game? Yeah. Yeah, these guys came out here. They fought hard.

We're proud of our guys. We're proud of all the work we put in, and this is what you're seeing on the field. They'll argue he did it at the press conference after. Yeah, but that's not nationally televised. No, I didn't see that. Did you see the whole press conference? Who's watching 20 minutes of Sark at a press conference 30 minutes after the game? All right.

Mark, real quick, here ahead of a break on Matt Ross in the morning. What's up, Mark? Yeah, morning, fellas. I was talking about because I was at the game on Saturday, and I saw the whole interview debacle that happened first at half with with Ryan Day and then they try going to Sark and all that stuff. So they caught Ryan Day coming off the field. He was already on the Longhorn side of the 20 of the numbers because that's the side where they go into the locker room.

So the fact that Lisa Redledge went out of her way to say twice at halftime that they had technical difficulties, Holly didn't catch wrong until he was already off the field and the clock had already started for the 20-minute half. and they tried to go to Sark. I'm assuming they went to him after they went to Ryan Day since they were winning first. So, I mean, the backlash for the halftime stuff,

I think was kind of blown out of proportion. And after the game won, where they went to Holly to try to interview him, and obviously it's not a good look, but I don't think Holly really made it any better with her with the way she reacted on camera because someone that's been in that profession long enough knows that the cameras are still rolling.

There has to be some kind of cue from either the videographer or photographer that's with her saying, hey, we're still rolling. So you would think that she would. I had no problem with her reaction. I had a problem with the douchebag, not even letting her get her question in. She couldn't even ask, he goes, hook him, hoarse. And he just runs off. And like, hey, don't be a D bag.

How about you answer her one? He can answer one question. Yeah. Oh, it's a great night. It's a great night to be a long. I'm going to go celebrate these boys. Yeah, and run off. That's fine.

But to not even let her ask her question. question, that's disrespectful. But even like that, what you just said, that's a statement. He would have made a statement. He wouldn't have let her got a question in. So he did the same thing. He just didn't do it. No, he didn't do the same thing.

I've been like, check out this D-bag. I mean, we've been in front of athletes, and I've interviewed, and we've been all been blown off by somebody, and yeah, you want to roll it. be a jerk. Sark can be a jerk. He can. I'm the first one to admit that. He can be like that. And just 30 seconds of this is what it's like to play at the University of Texas. As I said, go full shook night. All right. You come to the University of Texas. This is what you want. Big time football, nighttime, DKR, 100,000 fans, comeback victory over Ohio State. This is what we do. That's it. And then go. And then go. Maybe he's pissed off. Maybe he's got issued with Holly Row. I don't know.

But it just, it was a bad look. They do have a history together. Like they were back in the BYU days. I think, oh really? Yeah, like there's pictures of them. Really? When he was BYU quarterback?

Yeah, something. There was pictures of them together years and years and years ago. I didn't know that.
