It's part two of building the board, 2027 quarterback class, and today features Brendan Sorsby versus Lenora Sellers. But not before we get to the breaking news on Sorsby and the supplemental draft. Just 309 days until the NFL draft Mench. You good?

I'm great, man. Call that beat, Tuck. If you're tuning into the show, you probably have an understanding and a little bit of background on what's gone on with Brendan Sorsby. transfers from Cincinnati to Texas Tech NCAA after gambling allegations

and in middle to gambling and going into rehab for gambling addiction NCAA rules him ineligible. He finds a local court to basically get an injunction to allow him to play and then the Big 12 threatens with a heavy hammer behind it and its legal team to appeal that and to, to basically attack him for that ruling and to prevent him from playing.

They take it seriously, Sorsby and his team, and wind up pulling back on their claims and their ability to allow Sorsby to play. And by removing that suit, they wind up saying, all right, next step is we've got till June 22nd to get our petition into. the NFL for the supplemental draft.

It's stunning news. Now, there was writing on the wall. Like, I even put a call into the league office and it was crickets. And so I should have taken the potential for the NFL to essentially deny his petition more seriously. But nobody else did. So I was kind of following the breadcrumbs of this is kind of a, I don't know, it's a given that the league will hold its supplemental draft for the first time in three years. And maybe we'll have the first player drafted since 2019 in the supplemental draft. That all falls apart.

And if you haven't read it, I'm not going to read the whole the letter from the NFL, basically denying the petition and claiming that the NFL are stating that the NFL is not going to have a supplemental draft. If you haven't read it, you can find it. It's all over social media from our good friend Albert Breer, good friend Adam Schaefter, Ian Rappaport, anyone you want to go read what the NFL said. I'm going to throw it to you, Munch. What are your thoughts on this situation initially before? And I do want to remind,

we're going to get to the breakdown of Sellers v. Sorsby, two similar prospects in terms of rawness, areas that need to improve, but unbelievable talent. That's what the meat of this show is going to be today. but this is breaking news. I mean, it got to the point, Steve, where there was already a pro date set. Yeah.

It was going to be July 10th. Like, everyone was assuming that this was going to happen. He was going to be in the supplemental draft that was estimated to be held somewhere mid to late July. And now all of a sudden this news breaks and we're all left like, whoo. You know, so what now? What are your initial thoughts, bud?

I mean, this sucks. I mean, that's my initial thought. Like, just to be blunt about it, this sucks. I'll say this. Brendan Sourdes, we put himself in this situation, and there has to be accountability, and I understand that. At the same time, what is this going to look like long term? Now we're taking this guy out of football for a year.

What's that going to do in terms of how it affects him? I also want people to keep in mind, keep in mind that when this happened, when the bulk of this was happening, this young man was 18 years old. If you have not spent time with an 18-year-old recently, understand that these are kids, children. This is not a fully formed adult who is making rational decisions. Again, not saying he shouldn't be held accountable, but some of this, you know, I heard a clip of maybe he's not going to,

no one's going to look into him in 2027 after this. I don't understand. I mean, the punishment has to fit the crime. I think there's an argument this might be too harsh. Part of the problem is the timeline so condensed. We don't know exactly what happened and when it happened. and that's a big issue here. Also, the NFL is just going to NFL,

and some of this seems a little fishy to me of, oh, well, you didn't include any documentation. Well, did you ask for any? Were they supposed to? Did players in the past provide that kind of a documentation? If his team didn't know that, that's terrible on their part. They should have been prepared for that,

but now you have a young man who's got nowhere to play football next year, has no home, is going to have a lot of free time. I get it. I understand. There's got to be accountability. but like I said from the top, this sucks. It does suck.

It does suck. And I understand the argument of, well, there's a lot of human beings or individuals in the NFL or entering the NFL that have done a lot, quote, unquote, worse. And does the crime fit the punishment compared to some of those other crimes and what the punishment winds up being? I know this from 20 plus years of doing this and talking to league sources and the NFL, all major sports leagues have drawn a very, as everyone's saying, a bright line, a very thick line in the sand on when it comes to gambling. And I'll get to in a minute, like, I get it. There's a lot of things that Soresby can, Soresby and his team can push back on.

And I also want, I do think it's important to say this. I'm not overlooking the fact that other people do worse things. I do think it's important to state the league has very clearly made a stance that with all other things that are punishable legally, they wait for those legal, typically legal ramifications to occur, due process, and then they respond with additional punishment within the league and what they can do. you know, basically a business misconduct, right? In addition to whatever happens in the court of law,

this is not because gambling is legalized and the NFL is now in bed with gambling, and there's a whole podcast to do on that. We're not going to do that. That's not our show. They become the judge and jury here, right? The league has to be the final say. and it's critical, more critical now than ever, right, to make sure that an example is made, okay? You know me, Mitch.

I'm not big on PSAs, right? Public service announcements. When I make them, I do, I take it very seriously and I do with a lot of background and I make sure I've talked to everyone involved, not ever, everyone involved that potentially, essentially has a say and has enough background to try to help. I don't do it to come out and cut people, attack people. I do it because I'm trying to, because of my connections and what we've built here over all 25, 26 years,

I do it because I'm trying to get a message across. And I don't do it very often. And I'm not perfect. I tried to tell Trinidad's, like, be careful. I wouldn't push it, man. because what happens is you wind up missing the Combine, you wind up missing the Senior Bowl. All of a sudden, you know, everyone in Ole Miss is telling you,

hey, we're going to take care of this, and we're going to get you back on the field. And what happens if they don't? All of a sudden, you're sitting without a chair in the musical chair games. Musical chair is a game. And it worked out. But he was inches away from it not. And we'll see if it really worked out in the long run

where he could have been drafted last year. Now, how does he play? this quarterback class versus last year's quarterback class, all those things. But I also gave some PSA to Penn State fans and basically the program on the James Franklin and what's going on there. Feel pretty good about that.

Brian Kelly with LSU situation going on there. Shador Sanders in that situation. So the track record's not, it's pretty good. And that's not even concluding the 20 years of ESPN when I pick my spots. And so I do have a PSS. say for Brendan Soresby today. And it's important that he, whether it's me or somebody else with the same message,

that he starts to listen and opens his eyes to what's really going on. So why am I going to take time on the show and do this? It's because I want Brendan Sorsby and his team to hear it. Okay. I want his team to realize I don't have an agenda. I might know what I'm talking about, though, when I say the following. take your punishment. Take your punishment.

It's like the black mask quote. Like, take the money, take the money, take the money. It's the same thing. Take your punishment. The NFL made it perfectly clear in its letter that went public in the last 24 hours. You can argue the inconsistency with their rulings. You can argue deadlines and procedures.

And quite frankly, I think Brendan Sorsby has a decent case against the NFL excluding him from mentoring the NFL. via the supplemental draft. But it doesn't matter. The league has spoken. Take your medicine. You made the mistake. It was your actions that got you in this spot.

It doesn't matter how embedded the league is with gambling. It doesn't matter how strong a legal case you think you have against the NFL. The league is making an example of you. Fair or not fair. Your cleanest path to the NFL, Brennan, is, to deal with your gambling addiction, prepare yourself for next April's draft. Stay out of trouble.

Stay out of headlines. Get in the best shape of your life. Continue to master your craft, whatever route you decide to take, from pre-draft training to working with an ex-NFL quarterback, not dissimilar from what Fernando Mendoza did with Brian Greasy. Get with someone who can help you. Get the help you need with your addiction.

get with someone who's been through the NFL at the quarterback position can help you in the mental aspect of the game. Get with someone who can help you drill home your mechanics that need work. You're so damn talented, man. You are so talented. You are a first round talent physically, but you're not there yet. You're not there emotionally.

You're not there maturity-wise. You're not there mechanically. Focus on what you can control now. collusion's a big word it's also an accusation nobody is making an accusation including and especially myself but don't allow yourself to become

the next example the league makes with an unspoken punishment okay college football is vulnerable there are loopholes and you almost exploited one the NCAA is weak the NFL is not bro in some ways the NFL is

big pharma in some ways the NFL is big tobacco we should also want to stand up we all should want to stand up to big pharma and big tobacco when there are two strong legs to stand on when you're on the right side and i'm not saying you're on the wrong side but unfortunately because of your actions you'd be limping in on one hobbled leg that's not going to get it done against the NFL i'm reading and I'm seeing what your team is saying and we're going to fight this and all the reasons why you're right, stop.

Again, the league has spoken and the NFL rarely stands down when it's trying to make an example of someone in some situation. Maurice Claret. Maurice Claret, Mike Williams, Colin Kaepernick, and beyond, don't be the next name on that list, bud.

Don't. You're 22 years old. I get it. I made some dumb decisions. when I was 18 through 22, still make them every once in a while. But prove to the league that you were a young man who made some young man decisions, some young man mistakes. More importantly, prove to the league that you accept your responsibility and that you're

working diligently to become a grown man. It's time to be a grown man. grown men take accountability show contrition do some work on yourself actually reflect the next time you make headlines speak for yourself make it your voice show an understanding of what you did wrong that's what the adults at the table want to see and the NFL made that perfectly clear in its letter to you and it's not by accident that that letter leaked and the media reported it even before you found out out. So take this time, get your mind right, work on your addiction, get your body in peak shape, and take your medicine. If you do all those things, you'll be an NFL player in 10 months.

You can put all of this behind you. You can learn some valuable lessons. Hopefully you you learn some of those lessons. Hopefully you can work on some of your personal issues. Hopefully you can get yourself ready to be the best version of Brendan Sorsby when the league when the league welcomes you with open arms next april that's my psa that's my hope for brendan and hopefully he and his team when they watch us at some point will will take that appropriately and with understanding that i really come from a good place when i say all that and i also have a lot of background knowledge now that i didn't have 18 hours ago to say all those things i'm with you and for those who might be calling for more i mean just realized that

We're talking about loss of what, $6 million, $6 million in a year of, in a year with the opportunity to make himself an early first round pick, that opportunity. I think that's a pretty hefty punishment for a guy who right now, and things could change, right now there is no proof that he bet on a game that he played in. That's my understanding is that he did bet on, you know, Indiana games when he was there, but he did not play in any of those games. If that changes, I'll feel differently. But the information we have right now, I feel.

like that's a pretty hefty punishment and the lead should be able to move on if he, you know, does exactly, follows exactly the path you just laid out for him. Yeah. And the tough part is like the CFL calendar doesn't work, work that well. No. I know everyone's talking about the USFL and I saw one of the partial owners came out and said, we welcome you with open arms. What's it going to start playing in March during the pre-draft process?

and mid-season when the draft is held. So I honestly think it's everything I just said, and I don't want to be repetitive. I think, unfortunately, it's time that he takes his medicine, that he stands down, doesn't accrue any more. I mean, who's paying for all these legal bills? Those things rack up fast, man. Yeah.

So. Do you think he will? It's tough to know his mind. I don't know, and the interesting part is, and I understand, like, having gone through some, you know, I went through a divorce. I understand there's certain times you have to stand back and allow the legal process to take place. And I also understand there's certain times where you're advised legally, stop talking. We need to do the talking, right? But I think, unfortunately, he is 22 years old.

and he needs some people in his circle to tell him next time someone speaks on or about Brennan Sorsby, it needs to be you and it needs to be the right message and it needs to be authentic, okay? All right, tough transition, man. I mean, it's just like a sharp left turn to like, hey, how is he as a player? And we've done because it's the summer of Sorsby,

we've done a lot on him. I don't want to short change it, but I also don't want to be overly repetitive for our loyal viewers and listeners, and we appreciate everyone who's watching on Netflix. So I think because we're talking about Soresby, I think it's smart to dive in and do it the way that we normally do it, the way we did it with Archon and, Dante and we're going to kind of go through just the way we did. Biggest takeaways, strengths, weaknesses of ultimately land on a grade and continue this

seven-part series that is going to help us build our board as we enter into the 2026 season and have that quarterback board ready to build off of and to adjust as we as we see on the field, the changes that occur. But I want to start with this. We've got Brendan Sorsby from Cincinnati. Indiana, Cincinnati, Texas Tech. We've got Brendan Sorsby, who's 6-2-3 quarters is what National listed him as. 238 pounds, estimated 4-7.

I don't know that I agree with that. I would say he's a little bit faster. Lenora Sellers, Lenora Sellers listed as 603-4, meaning 6-3-5, 24, with an estimated 4-5. I saw some 4-4 stuff there, but we'll get to that too. And I also have stood next to him at the Manning Passing Academy last year. Yeah, this is like, point in contention. 603-4, 6-3-5.

So regardless. I was giddy. I was giddy to see that number. Yeah. He's not going to be at Manning Passing Academy, which I'm headed down tomorrow on Thursday morning for a few days and thrilled to get down there. I'm thrilled to share everything I see and I'm doing a lot of, I'll do a lot of social posts and we'll do a recap next week.

then we'll get right back into it with the seven-part series of building the board, the 27 quarterback class. I love this series that we're doing. And it will continue with C.J. Carr and Julianne, Notre Dame and Ohio State, respectively. So let's get to it. Sorsby versus Sellers. What's your biggest takeaway after you dove into the tape on both of these guys?

My biggest takeaway was Lenora Sellers was my number one quarterback going into the 2025 season, and he will at worst be my number two quarterback going in the 2026 season. No offense to Brendan Sorsby, it's not even close. And I'll be honest with you, he's ahead of Archmanning right now. He is that good. There is, you can get confused by the numbers. Look, they had, South Carolina had four wins last year. Only one in cons that was Kentucky.

I get like when you look at this and you see, you know, eight interceptions compared to 13 touchdowns, It's easy to look at some of that production and think, wow, Mench, how in the world could you think this kid's that good? Watch the tape. Watch the tape from two years ago. I feel like I've watched every throw this kid's had over the last two seasons. I am all in on Lenora Sellers. My biggest takeaway is both of these cats, Soresby and Sellers,

are phenomenally gifted. Both of these cats have some traits that we, see when we're talking about like the elites, the Lamars, the Josh Allen's, the Mahomes. We're talking about rare air with like arm talent, energy on the ball, athleticism, making guys miss, speed, power, all those sorts of things, right? My biggest takeaway is, while they both have areas they have to improve upon, where I'm we're and we'll get to that in a little bit. Sellers areas of improvement that that need to occur,

it's a clearer path for me when I watch. Mm-hmm. And the lights are brighter with with sellers than Soresby right now. And I say that because both are unbelievably mobile. Sellers is more mobile. Right. Both make some unbelievable throws. And I would argue.

you this. Sorsby's, if you take Sorsby's 50 throw highlight, it's actually a little bit better than sellers. I don't know. But they're both good.

I don't know, though. Some of the off platform, the arm angles, the anticipation on the, there are some throws that I haven't seen from sellers that I saw from Sorsby.

But as a player, overall, sellers is better right now. the debilitating part of all of this is, I can see a path where if Sorsby was at Texas Tech with the weapons, the NIL, the supporting cast, the defense, all that stuff, that he could have made the big strides he needs to make and could have made it very interesting.

Now there is no path, and that sucks. And it goes back to your original point. That sucks. And he earned it and he should take his medicine and everything I said. But to see this like this potential, what is it, Bronx Tale? The worst thing in the world is wasted potential, right? Right. Yeah.

Yeah. So that's where I am. That's my takeaway. I'll get to the grade later at the end. Yeah, we will. We're going to doing this series to kind of, I don't want to rebut your. QB2 for sellers right now because I do think we're going to have a really good discussion at the end of this thing. So let's save it for there. Okay. But let's just say I understand and I, I'm excited to

get into it. So let's go here. Biggest strengths for both of these guys. Take it wherever you want. I listen there. Again, I absolutely love sellers, but I'm going to, the biggest strength I think for him is, and they kind of tie together is his compete level, I think is different when you watch him on tape. He's just the way he competes is unique and then it's impossible to get him on the ground whether he's scrambling or he's in the pocket. His

strength, his base, his lower body is just so powerful that it allows him to, the velocity on his passes when he throws on time in rhythm can follow through is incredible. The ability to shake off tacklers again in the pocket

He is built like a brick shit house man. It is It is different. It is different. And then he has, in addition to it, the want to, the refusal to go down. And sometimes it gets into trouble. We'll get in this a little bit later. He tries to do too much.

He is Superman. I've said it before. He tries to do too much and gets in a certain situations. But that being said, you've got to love the way he competes and the way he just wants to make plays. And that's just his greatest strength. I think there's a lot of other positives to his game. For example, something that thinks I don't think people, realize how good he can be in the pocket and how accurate he is when his first read is there and

he gets the ball out in time and his feet are set correctly. And I think he even got better about getting to his second and third read and resetting his feet as the season went. You can look at the he misses some throws. I understand that. He's a more accurate quarterback that people might think. And you throw in a lot of throwaways because he's running for his life, a lot of throws in the face of pressure. When this guy's got time and space in the pocket, I think he's actually a very accurate passer. So I can go on and on. But you're giving the biggest strength.

Listen, man, I'm telling you. I am telling you that he is more. He's adjusted accuracy that South Carolina had 15 drop passes last year on him. His adjusted accuracy is like 66.8% or something like that. I'm not saying it's his greatest strength. I'm not saying he's Dante Moore. What I am saying is it's not as big of a weakness as people think it is. All right.

We'll get to that in a minute. I think it's wonderful to have a quarterback with one elite trait. The unique game-changing elite trait, you can build on that, right? Sellers has got two. And Sorsby has two. Now, their mobility is a little different. Sellers is a little more like there's one Texas A&M play late in the in the first half. I think like 33 seconds left off the top of my head, something like that.

He kind of, he climbs, scrambles out, extends the play, fakes that, you know, pump fake, defenders, like, and he's just a rally, bang, 10 yards, picks up the first down, keeps it rolling. They don't want to convert in the touchdown, but they get a field goal before the half. That turns it to, what was it, 30 to, 30 to 3, I think it was at half of that Texas A&M game, which they went on to lose. I see him make more defenders miss, and I see more, like, pure speed. Sorsby is fast and not like he's got speed.

He really does. And he's a damn good, effective runner, like really, really good and extends and has all those things. That's his greatest strength, I think, is his mobility. Yeah. By far right now. Right. But Sorsby also has this arm talent to him and the ability to drive the ball and make certain throws. I would argue sellers, it almost comes easier in terms of just flicking wrist, driving it, you know?

I gave, we agree on sellers. I gave sellers of one in arm strength and one in mobility. Those are the top grades you can give. I actually gave Swordsby a two in arm strength. I like the arm strength. There are a couple times that I wanted to ask you about this. There are times where I'm like, man, that's easy. I mean, that's just easy.

Some of this down, look at Utah. Some of the deep balls he had in Utah are absolutely. Like that left rail shot, they were down a lot. But that left rail shot, he just flicked it. He had two in that game where I'm like, man, that is, that is fun to watch. And it's on time and receivers running under it. I mean, it doesn't get any better than that as a vertical passer. There are times when he throws underneath that I feel like the ball hangs for just a split second.

And I don't know whether it's him choosing not to drive the ball. In my notes, are it, is this an arm strength thing? Or is this just him thinking he needs to take something off and he's not. putting all he could put into it there. There are times where I think he can get the ball quicker from A to B on some of these intermediate passes that I think gives us a coverage, a chance to recover, and that concerned me a little bit. And so I ended up giving him a two, but I really did debate it.

I wondered if you saw some of the same things, or if you were just comfortable with it. Honestly, I would give sellers a one, and I would give Soresby a 1.5 if we were allowed. Okay. I don't, two feels a little bit like, yeah, it's above that. I think it's better than that, but I, like, I clearly think sellers can rip it a little bit better and can do it without, like, having a strain or have his base under, you know, so I don't disagree in that regard. Yeah. Like I said, the lights are a little bit brighter when you watch sellers. Like, Soresby, the thing that I appreciated with Sorsby, and there were some times, like, he had two great plays.

Was it Utah? I forget which game. Yeah, it was two back-to-back plays. It was like 1149 second quarter. I'm looking at it out. Like absolutely insane two-play sequence where he rolls the right, defenders in his face, arm slots off, throws wide receiver open behind the coverage that leads them perfectly to the sideline.

That's an anticipation throw when everything's breaking down, changing arm angles off platform, then comes back in the next play. and throws a tear drop, like tear drop. Like God had a little tear that just came down from the clouds and down the left rail. Two plays. By the way, that's supposed to be a bad tape.

And it's not great, but there is enough on that Utah tape to be excited about what he can do. When you look at the year that he had, you're like, oh, well, he got to Utah and he got to Arizona and he got BYU and he didn't play quite as well. And it's, well, you throw on the Utah tape and some NFL throws there, man. I mean, there are some stuff to be excited about.

Yeah, and unfortunately, he had a fumble then after those two plays and gives the ball away, and it was kind of a fluke one, right? But the thing that I respect with him is you have all of these, like, insane big-time throws, big-time runs, and this creativity. And typically quarterbacks that have all of that, you think about Lamar coming out, Josh Allen especially,

like there's turnovers, there's mistakes, there's critical errors. He didn't have a lot of them. Like 21 big time throws against just three turnover worthy plays. I think it was like PFF, I got that from.

And he also, the pressure to sack ratio is outstanding. It was the best, I mentioned this in an earlier show, the best of all these like 12 to 14 quarterbacks that we're going to talk about in this year's class during the seven-part series. So protecting the ball while also doing all those special things is pretty amazing.

Now, again, like, do you trust his reads? And is he getting from one to the next as fast as he should and all those sorts of things? And we can get to the weaknesses. But there's something really cool about watching him, protecting the ball, and not giving the plays away. Here it is. Creative, dynamic, explosive without being reckless. That's one part of his game, Brendan Sorsby's games that I really appreciated. And you know what else I love?

And I talked to a former NFL head coach about this. Some people, obviously, when we have situations like this, I get a lot of text. And I think, let's call it what it is. I think sometimes it's like I got to go on a show, give me, and I know you've done the work. What do you see? And then this one head coach text me, and so I gave kind of a rundown. and then his response was, I went and watched enough this morning,

agree with what you're saying. And the thing that I took away was, I would love to coach this guy because he's so damn tough, man. And it's just like you're talking about with sellers with the competitiveness. Both these guys, man. Fuck is Sorsby tough.

Both of them. I told you there's some T-Bo stuff in terms of like will-to, power, strength as a runner, which, yeah, like, how far is that going to carry you in the league? But it translates in the mental and physical toughness that's required to be a really good quarterback in the NFL, especially one that is going to rely throughout their career and early in their career, more importantly, when they don't have all the answers mentally, you've got to have a level of toughness, right?

And he has that. So let's transition now. Okay, go ahead. No, no, no, go ahead. Are you going to go into the negative? Are you going to transition to the negatives here? Yeah, like the homework that needs to be done is what we're calling it. Stuff that we want to see from both these guys in 2025.

Unfortunately, we're not going to see it from Sorsby, presumably. You know, and let's see. Yeah. I don't see the pathway. Yeah, it sucks. It sucks. So where's the homework that needs to be done, whether it's Sorsby privately working or sellers with,

let's also mention, we've kind of talked a lot about Sorgeby's background. Sellers made the decision to come back to South Carolina. There was a lot of speculation. A lot of money being thrown at him. Miami was one program. I would have given him a billion dollars if I was Miami. A billion dollars to get that kid filming.

I don't know. I don't know how much money they were giving him, but in a no offense to him. Well, there was talk of what, the four plus million for, for Ty Simpson was the offer. I don't know if there was an official. offer, but Sellers decides to come back. And so the background on Sellers is this.

He's entering his fourth year at South Carolina. His first year was 2023. Three games played, zero starts. That's considered a redshirt year. Takes over as the starter. The next year starts all 12 games. Last season, he starts all 12 games that he plays, but gets injured. I think it was late in the first half against LSU, it was an ankle injury, sits out

the Akron game, I want to say, was the next game on the sketch. schedule and then returns. And you could see, I think it was like Ole Miss in a couple of games, wasn't quite the same dude was still recovering. But as the season progresses, you get to Texas A&M, you get to like the Clemson game. There was one other game. Illinois, the bowl game.

I think that was the sequence, but that he was kind of back to form. So this is his third year as a starter, enters the year with 24 starts. This will give him 30, healthy season minimum 36 starts and could be inching closer to 40, which is awesome, right? Right. So what I want to see, and this is where we disagree a little bit, Munch. Yeah.

I think he comes in hot. He does sometimes. I get it. Short to intermediate passer. The beauty with Sellers is, though, it's correctable. man. I like I spend Saturdays with Tate with like M2QB. I've spent a lot of time around Dilfer. I've been to a lot of different camps. I like I've been around this position my whole life since I was nine years old. So I can spot at this point in my career what's leading to. Like his thing is he opens too far with his base.

Okay. Picture it like let's do this. Here's my leg. short stride hips drive arm in unison arm loose arms the rope behind the motor that's right when you

over stride as a quarterback and or open up too wide what happens your arm trails and then so the release point I'm watching go through the screen the release point is because the arm

trailing. You're like this and what happens? Ball goes high and add to it this yet to be discovered ability to take a little heat off the fastball. And you combine those two things and that's what you see

like he had the interception against Texas A&M as well in the first half. Just came in hot. Ball's a little high. Tipped up. It's a dream. Center fielder, free safety. Maybe catch the ball. not that one bro i i maybe the receiver catch the ball like maybe i'm i'm that was one of the

players i looked at him was like he had three interceptions that went off receiver's hands and one was the running back in the flat not i mean it wasn't like he put too much one on too much air uh too much sip on that one i mean there was a couple times where again 15 drop passes make the play i mean how about how about you enter how about you enter 30 to three texas a you know yeah i think ranked two in the country at that point. Right. Now all of a sudden it's 30 to 24. And not a I mean,

they just came roaring back and, um, and had some big plays. But now it's 30 to 24. You got three or six seconds left, six seconds left in the third quarter. Third and seven play you're on your own 41. You got to stem the tide here,

man. Part of this game, we talked about it the other day with Arch and with Dante. There are moments in games. There are situations that you have to deliver. Third downs. Fourth downs, critical spots, game on the line, red zone. All those situations.

This is a third and seven play from your own 41, and you're feeling everything start to fall apart. This is where I need my quarterback on an easy slant with not a defender within seven yards to take a little heat off of it, get his feet right, put it on them. Doesn't have to be perfect, don't have to look. Just put it on them. Worst case, that completion gets them a fourth in one

and they can make a tough decision. Best case he leads them, receiver goes and gets a first down, kind of stem the tide. Now we start the fourth quarter, still up six, we're in their territory. Game feels a little bit different.

So it's those moments where I, it feels like nitpicking, but it's really not. When I say, I think that's a fair criticism. What's the homework for sellers? The homework is, we've just got to drill in the mechanics.

I promise you, Lamar was, was a meh pastor at Louisville. I promise you, Josh Allen, for the rifle arm, the mobility, all the stuff, he was so erratic as a pastor. I promise you, Jalen Hertz. I didn't know if it was going to work coming out of Alabama, more hopeful coming out of Oklahoma, but he wasn't there.

So, like, this isn't like, oh, he can't be. You can't improve your accuracy in the NFL, not the National Football League. The old biker gang coming up from NFL films, as I used to talk about, like, this is the National Football League. Your footwork has to be right. It's not that. It's not that league anymore. So I see a clear path to him improving, but it's going to come with touch and mechanically drilling it in so that he's able to make these easy throws in these big moments and even in small moments where you can rely on that consistency more. And I believe because I know him through people and the work ethic and the intelligence and he's going to do everything.

Two-time team captain will probably be a three-time team captain. Right. This kid's a leader. I'm going to push back a little bit and then I'll get into what I think is the biggest weakness. I think you're right. I'm not saying that what you're saying is wrong. I would say that he is, I think, definitively further along mechanically as a pastor

than those, the other guys that you mentioned. Lamar, Josh, Jalen. I think he's definitively farther along. Now, does he still have ways to go? Absolutely. I understand that. In terms of making big plays and big moments, I would go back to Missouri two years ago when Missouri in the fourth quarter comes storming back.

And Lenore Sell and Missouri is now, it's a heavyweight fight. They're going back and forth. Luther Burns making plays for Missouri. All of a sudden, they're down with a minute left. It's a 70-yard drive in 47 seconds where he makes every single play on the drive to give his team the win.

So we've seen that he can do that. I don't, just so we're clear, I do not question his ability to deliver in moments. I'm saying I want to, the next step is, there you go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I hear it. I think we may, again, this is nuance here.

I feel a little bit better about it than you probably do. One thing I would say is this, it's difficult. I understand you watch the tape in his offensive lines having a hard time blocking South Carolina State at times. And his receivers did drop some balls. and Nick Harbour is kind of a frustrating guy because he's so talented, but he's not there as a receiver. He's got to stop trying to do everything all the time. He's got to stop being greedy, pushing the ball downfield in certain situations, take what's underneath.

Don't try to put so much on it. He's always trying to make plays, and I love that about him. But as my good friend, McShay would always say, your biggest strength can be your biggest weakness. And sometimes I see that with him where he's just trying to do too much. And he's got to trust his teammates a little bit more to make plays. he's got to make reads get the ball, just throw the ball out of bounds. He does that sometimes,

but there's other times where I think he can be quicker about it, take, you know, live to fight another day. I think he pushes too much at times. How does this translate to the league given the different circumstances, right? Let's say sellers makes strides, but maybe isn't like the complete product.

Let's say Soresby takes his medicine, does all the right things, gets with an NFL veteran or a former quarterback really works on him himself personally training, getting right, but doesn't have more game experience. For each of these guys, how does it translate to the league?

What are your expectations when they come into the league as early round draft picks, if that's the case with Sorsby? And we got a lot to sort through between now and then. But Sellers is a first round pick. Soresby. is a day two pick due to the circumstances. How does it translate?

I mean, SORSB is so, it's so tough because it's unprecedented. And it's going to be, we'll know more than obviously than we do now. And going, that was the one benefit of all this will be, we're no longer on the condensed timeline. We'll be able to go through and find out exactly what happened, when it happened, and how teams feel about it. And, you know, I'm sure some teams will feel differently than other teams. And that'll give us a good idea of where they go.

there's no doubt in my mind, as we've been saying all along, that Brendan Sorosby can be a starting quarterback in the NFL and a damn good starting quarterback in the NFL. Lenora Sellers is a top five pick to me. I mean, he is a franchise quarterback. He is, he would have taken him out of over Mendoza last year. I would have taken him over Cam Ward the year before. And I think he would have been, you know,

he would have been right in the mix with the guy, that historic last year before. I think he would have been right in the mix with a lot of those guys too. And it'll be interesting to see how this process unfolds for him. But Lenora Sellers is a different cat. He's a different, different dude. To me, he's a top five franchise quarterback. The teams are going to be super excited about getting in their building, whereas Bryn Sorsby's got some questions that he's not quite developed. And I said the team should take a chance in the first round on him, the supplemental draft. I've cooled on that a little

bit, but I still think that's true. I think he's a really talented player. Don't get me wrong. Lenora Sellers has got a chance to be a great one. I don't want to bury you. I don't want to bury the lead here either. And I think one of the, one of the leads for, for sellers is this is now going to be his third offensive coordinator. The supporting cast has not been the same. This is an arch with that offensive line that's pumping out NFL guys. This isn't, this isn't Dante who's got all the, you know, Decorian Moore is a freshman,

but who's got talent at wide receiver. He's got a deep running back group. Obviously, Texas has got five guys. who are coming in, you know, in a two-year span or we're going to wind up playing the NFL wide receiver. Yeah, Kenyon Sadiq, all of that. So that's part of the lead with sellers. The other part of the lead that I think is even more importantly,

like more important to the conversation is Sark is coaching Arch Manning. Will Stein, who became very quickly one of the best offensive coordinators and play callers in college football and just took the, Kentucky head job has been coaching Dante Moore the last two years as a sitting behind Dylan Gabriel for a year and then as the starter last year. This is now the third coordinator, Kendall Bryles, will be for Lenora Sellers. So not only is it supporting, what do we talk about with NFL guys? Like, how do you best support a quarterback in the NFL?

It's play collars, protection, and playmakers, right? three P's. So of all these quarterbacks we're talking about, we'll get to C.J. Carr, we'll get to Sayan. We'll get to I'maliava. I mean, the list

goes on and on. Mesta maker, Mensa, all these guys. Mesa, Hoover, all those guys. We'll get to all. Here, yep. You could argue the one with the most challenge, the most challenging circumstances with the three P's is sellers.

I would agree. I'm absolutely like I don't know. It's like week one of college football and everyone's going to be like this game versus like I can't wait to see sellers with another off season, healthy coming into the year with and the playmakers aren't going to be that much better, but there's going to be more age and refinement. and to know that he's with an offensive coordinator that has had. His offense, Kendall Brier's offenses that are averaging like almost 50 points a game.

There's going to be some stuff that's made easier for sellers. And I can't wait to see the difference. And I think we're all hopeful that we're going to see a stark difference, not dissimilar from what we saw with Mendoza going from Cal to Indiana, not dissimilar from maybe Cam Ward going from incarnate word Washington State and then and then to Miami or Jaden Daniels going from Arizona State to his first year at LSU to finally settling in a second

like all these guys the benefit of transferring and or new supporting cast upgraded supporting cast this is the shot man and let's just transition to grade I'm always going to allow you to be a little bit higher on sellers than me because you deserve it. But I'm not, I'm not telling you you're wrong.

I gave him a 91 to put him with Arch, which is saying a lot, man. Yeah. I'm flying down to, I'm flying down to Tibado, Louisiana, and being hosted by Archie Manning, his grandfather and hanging out with the manning's all week. I would never let one,

I would never let one, I would never let that play into any evaluation. I'm just in like, I'm, I'm, I feel like I'm close to that situation. No, I wouldn't do it. I know you couldn't do it.

It's not in my DNA. But I'm saying like I see the path for for Arch. And I love Arch. I'm just as pumped to see. But right now as an evaluator, I'm like I'm wide open, man. Show me. I got Cam Coleman Arch.

Now you still got Sark. You kind of got past that first year of like he's, he's the next. Jesus of Nazareth. I'll make my second Jesus of Nazareth comp in two shows. But like all of that pressure, like undue, you know, weight on his shoulders. He's kind of put that all behind him. He's playing loose and free.

He's got Cam Coleman coming to town. He's still got started like, I want to see what that looks like. And I'm pumped to see it. But I'm just as excited because I honestly, like, he's not six, four and a half. And he's not, well, he is about 230. 36 pounds. They're both so supremely talented. I'm looking at this class right now,

and we're just two episodes into the seven-part series. And Sorsby is like, now we've got to classify him differently, and we've got to kind of deal with that situation as it comes. He's supremely talented, but we know all the things that could go on, all the concerns. We might not see Sorsby, and I'm not saying because of suspension,

we might not see Sorsby play any meaningful NFL time until 2028. Okay, so that's like a case in its own. But I'm telling you through two parts of this series, four quarterbacks looked at, we get three guys, man, that are legit potential, like top 10 quarterbacks in the league one day. what's the the Caleb Williams uh Drake made jaden daniel uh jaden daniel's class is 23 right 20 24 24 sorry thank you i feel way better about this class than i did at that class at that point because jane daniels hadn't even emerged yet and drake may was yeah well we know we kind of hope that drake may you know

could take the next step and all that this class where it is now if these three guys are all out and declare it is I mean those three are incredible I love Arch I think he's really you know I gave him 91 I think Sellers is I think the tape is better I think that Sellers is a more accurate

pastor than Arches right now sorry I don't disagree I don't necessarily disagree yeah so yeah it's it's fascinating any one of those three guys though give me any one of the three give me anyone

any one of the three I'm cool Yep. And I kind of felt, I felt that way with Caleb, Drake, and Jaden. Yeah. Yes. You got a nitpick. It's our job to rank.

Right. It's our job. But I promise you, like, I can have Jaden. Yeah. Yeah. I get Caleb. Sure. I've got the third pick in the draft and I can get one of these three guys.

Great. Right. And we haven't even gotten to the rest of this group. Next week we're going to come back. We're going to talk about the Manning Passing Academy, Academy, what we saw there. And then after that, we're right back into CJ Carr, Julian's saying two guys that they're not like on a lot of top lists right now because they're the most likely of the two to come back for the 2026 season. But both of those guys showed first round ability last year for extended periods of time.

There are some people in the league that I know that think CJ Carr is next. There's some people in the league that think that there's a lot of Drew Brees and saying, There's some good CJ car tape, man. There's some really good CJ car tape. There's just as much, if not more, really good Julian Sayant tape. I agree. I agree. Now he's on it.

And again, I mentioned a bunch of other names on the list, too, that we haven't even talked about. Quick question. Mestermaker, Mensa. Oh, Sam Levitt with Kiff. Yes. Yes. You were missing one. Quick question.

Maiva, Iamaliava, Mateer, just keep her addling off. I got a question. Answer by question. Are you bringing the beautiful new bride to the Manning Academy again this year? I'm actually not.

We had a twist, a change of circumstances. AJ, her oldest is 16 years old. He's a counselor of this. He's got two days. He's devastated. I feel horrible. I was bringing the whole crew down.

I was bringing all six. Oh, really? What's he got two days of though? Two days of training that he can't miss or else he doesn't get this job. And then Mia's eighth grader. She's graduating and they have some big event. So it just didn't work out. So Morris is staying back with the three other kids.

I'm bringing Tate down. Tate's getting credentialed. Here we go. And he's going to have to rough it. He's an Irish. He's going to steal my job. I know what's happening. I live the writing's on the wall.

Northeast. And it's no writings on the wall. And it's going to be interesting watching him in 92 to 96 degree heat with 80 to 95 percent. I'm just going to watch those chunky cheeks just melt. Take it easy. I was going to add another pod to the schedule where we get a comparison of Italy in your honeymoon to Tibito, Louisiana. And see the culture shock that Marissa was going to go through. if she made this trip.

I was fascinated. We wanted to bring her on and get her take on what the differences were. Well, she went last year, and so she's well aware. We had a blast last year. It's just the fun thing. She's not a football.

She appreciates it. She grew up in the South. She's Clemson. She's, you know, she loved the tailgating, all of the stuff that makes college football beautiful. She loves and gets it. Like the football stuff,

she's like, yeah, as you will know, I'll let you and mention to handle that. but she was like almost in i don't want to say i don't want to oversell but like was like almost emotional watching that friday night lights and seeing like me on the field and how much i like i just i ate i just eat it up man it's like the purest thing left in this game to see all these these counselors who are going to be NFL draft picks the top quarterbacks in the in the entire country after spending like eight to 10 hours teaching young quarterbacks how to improve their game

and the impact they're having on these six graders to 12th graders, right? And then they get their chance to shine at night and be loose and free and the lights come on. And they're competing against one another. And watch all those kids who are who were the focus all day long go sit in the stands, a couple thousand of them with families and friends coming in. It was Friday. It was field of dreams, man. It's field of dreams.

And there's not, there's no cameras. There's no like, and I've already gotten text. from some people and I'm like, oh, no. I feel like I maybe we gave it too much publicity last year. And now all of a sudden, I'm fucking appeased some friends who worked for the big companies and I'm worried that we're all of a sudden going to have all that. You ruined it.

Yeah. I do want to make mention a former colleague of ours, Matt Miller had a devastating car crash. And I can't imagine what he and his family are going through. I know he has children, wife, and it's like, you know, whether we work together, don't work together, there is a community of people who have some level of mutual respect and to hear what he has gone through, you know, our prayers and thoughts are with him and his family and obviously wish nothing but the best and the speediest recovery for him.

And so I do think it's important for us to make a quick mention of that because that's like, I can't even imagine, you know. Yeah, I'm glad he did. I've been thinking about it. It seems to be a really tough situation. You know, it's tough to read into it. It seems like he's handling it as well as anyone could based on what he said. But, I mean, it's tough and thinking about him.
