in Connecticut. We're thrilled. There's a lot of buzz here in the building. Everyone's been working.
We've got graphics. We've got video. It's kind of all new to our group as a whole. And I'm
pumped about how far we've come in one year. What I'm also pumped about is, and let's get right to it.
There's a lot going on. And it's not just the Giants trade with the Bengals. It's a lot of conversations.
And a lot of phone calls being made from one general manager to the other and just talking, trying to
figure things out and then talking to other people about what are you hearing here.
But let's start with the Giants.
This is the breaking news.
This one's unique, man.
Bengals trade.
It's player for one pick.
And some people think the Bengals got fleeced giving the 10th overall pick for Dexter
Lawrence, who they're bringing in for two years at $28 million.
Some people look at this roster and say, you know what?
We got Joe Burrow.
We got Jamar Chase.
We got T. Higgins.
We got a pretty good run game.
And we brought in Jonathan Allen, Boy A. Mafet.
Yep.
We've already got B.J. Hill in there.
We got Miles Murphy.
And if you're the Bengals, and we still got four picks, or three picks, I should say,
41, 72, and 110 in the top 110.
There's something else here now.
Something new.
From exclusively on Paramount Plus, it's the series.
Stephen King calls scary as hell.
Everything here is impossible, but it's also real.
Sci-fi vision calls it the best show streaming right now.
We're running out of time and we still don't know the rules.
Don't miss what the movie blog calls something you need to watch.
Saving those children is how we all go home.
From Binge All Episodes exclusively on Paramount Plus.
Overall, more people are saying, what a move by John Harbaugh.
by, I think, by Joe Shane, by the organization for the Giants, recognizing this is a player who was offered around $28 million for more years, is my understanding, and just kind of had seen it through.
He had seen where other players from the organization had gone and wanted to be the next name up, including especially Sequin Barclay.
So it seems like both sides are happy at this point.
Yeah.
Bengals got what they want, and we're not here for the Bengals talk right now.
We're here for the Giants talk.
Because now the New York football giants own a fifth of the top 10.
And they're kind of in control, man.
Because I don't know for sure that they're absolutely done.
Like, I know that we'll get to the Kansas City Chiefs in a little bit.
I know there's some teams that might be trying to get up there for an offensive lineman.
How far are you willing to move back?
Could they wind up controlling picks 9 and 10 and still get, I don't know,
Caleb Downs to safety?
Yeah.
And let's say Jordan Tyson, but I want to get into that part.
Okay. Currently they sit there at 5 and 10, the Giants do.
They've got needs at wide receiver significantly.
With Malik neighbors, like we're not 100% sure he's going to be 100%
and like all systems go by the start of the year.
They had, we had interior defensive line, Mench, as the number two need coming into the draft.
And that was not, that was thinking now Dexter is going to be.
Right.
Linebacker, guard tackle to a certain degree, safety and corner.
So where do you think they're going to go?
And I'll tell you what the Intel is saying.
Sunny Stiles screaming at me, the linebacker from Ohio State there at 5 because they've got to improve the run defense.
And you have no defensive tackles now.
They're going to have to adjust that later on the draft.
There's no value there for defensive tackle.
There's no defensive tackle worth taking at 5.
You have got, got to improve that run defense.
I think the best way to do that if you stick and pick there is Sunny Stiles.
So the people I've talked to on the phone this weekend, and I had a lot of calls.
It got weird last night because I had to wake up 4.30 in the morning to get on that flight with you from Boston to L.A.
Long haul.
Long haul.
And they were going, it was going late, and I hadn't eaten dinner, and I took three protein bars, ate them as getting into bed, not to overshare.
here. But there was just a lot like it was like all right calls are kind of wrapping up here
texting and then all of a sudden the news breaks and it's like you know. Pick it up Steve.
I mean it's awesome. It's what you want. It's draft week. There are people who are of the strong
belief that that Sunny Stiles is the guy. And I can tell you this for a fact. If you want
Sunny Stiles you got to get them at five because he's not going six unless Dallas were
maybe to trade up there if that's what their intention.
And we'll get to all this later.
But he's going seven.
So I'll just tell you that right now.
To the commanders, right?
If Sonny Stiles is sitting there for the Washington commanders, I'm told him pretty
damn good authority.
Dan Quinn, that's his guy.
Okay.
Now, I've heard other people say, man, they really, like, maybe it's, maybe it's
Downs.
Maybe it's Caleb Downs to safety.
Just a, and I was even watching some tape on the flight.
light out here. I would kind of like, we're doing some stuff for our video, getting ready.
And I was just watching Downs play. And I'm like, man, I almost, sometimes you forget because
you get so caught up in all this noise. And he's, he didn't run a 40 and he doesn't have this
length. I'm watching this son of a gun just wreck people's dreams. Like their offensive
coordinators, quarterback, through all the little things he does and the physicality he breaks.
So keep that in mind. Five's early. Five's early. I don't disagree. And therein lies,
the rub of what already people I'm talking to in the league are kind of asking themselves.
There's a lot of buzz about the chiefs and people in the league don't know how real that is.
Let's just jump to nine here because it's important in the context of this bigger picture
conversation.
We'll get to like the maybe they're talking with the Cardinals.
And when people are talking, they're talking to, like you're reaching out to everyone if you
have any interest to go up and just get in a sense.
Like, would you even be willing or when we get eight minutes?
Remember, it's not 10, not the old days of 15.
It's eight minutes on the clock.
We better, you know, we better be locked in.
And I don't need to be wasting 30 to 60 seconds on a phone call.
Right.
So I am told, again, on really good authority,
Andy Reid is hellbent.
And I want to throw to you on this match on figuring out this offensive line
and protecting a quarterback who is the epicenter of everything that is,
excess Kansas City Chiefs who's coming
off of an injury.
I also know
Brett Veach is controlling the board
and looking at this and saying
who could be here
there and what if we get an edge rusher there
you know? So
those discussions are happening.
Bringing it back to the Giants though.
I know we're bouncing around
that's what we do. Bringing it back to the Giants.
I got murdered on X for the Chief's take by the way.
Murdered.
Mench looked at the roster. We did
a deep dive last week. And if you haven't, go to the website, please. Check it out. It's
the ringer.com slash McShay. This past, the past four days, we have put out breakdowns for
every, all 32 teams. And I went deep into the NFC, and he went deep into the AFC. And when he came
back with, after really diving in, he's like, I, I just think the Chiefs, man, like, don't
sleep on the Chief's offensive tackle at nine because we know this tackle run is going to
happen. Okay. So the Chiefs are sitting there and there's talk about.
them moving up to three. But there's also
talking the league of, hey, if it's
really, and this is the whole point I'm bringing it back to,
and I recognize I bounce around sometimes.
Just hang here because it's going to be a wild ride.
Because the conversations were a wild ride.
If the Giants
really want Caleb
Downs, or
they're like, we'd be thrilled with
either styles or downs, which I'm
actually hearing that, like, that
they love both of these players.
You can get him at 9.
You can get downs at night.
Not Sunny Stiles.
I just told you.
Sunny Stiles is going seven to Washington if he's on the board.
And I actually believe that's if Jeremiah Love were on the board too.
That's what I'm hearing, strong.
Okay.
Strong.
It's Sunny Stiles to Washington at 7 if he's not a New York giant at 5 or if a team doesn't trade up to 6.
So my question would be, and we won't get an answer to this on the clock,
If the Chiefs don't move up to, if the Chiefs don't move up to three,
and we'll get to the Cardinals in a minute,
what if they go to five to get ahead of the Browns?
And don't forget about this Chief's connection with Andy Reed, right?
And the former head coach, Wittingham, right, who's now at Michigan.
They were teammates at BYU, and so obviously you're going to get the best information.
and there's a trust level.
And so as Andy's looking at this to say,
we've got to get an offensive line,
and we don't want to give up everything it takes to go to three.
Maybe we could do it to five.
The Giants can move back and get their guy.
There's just a lot of chatter about that.
Yeah, it's interesting.
Now we're trading up for Spencer, I don't know.
What a roller coaster for this game.
And maybe it would be Francis Maui Noah.
It could be, yeah.
But, I mean, what a roller coaster for Fano,
who's been the number one offensive tackle on the board,
guy who's going to be a potential top 10 pick.
all of a sudden he's going to free fall because of the arm length.
Now he's back in that conversation.
It sounds like whether it's them or someone else, he's going to go early.
So I want to be clear about it.
I thought the Chiefs would take one later in the first round.
It sounds like they might not be able to wait for an offensive tackle.
And that's the thing.
We've been talking about it for over a month now.
These offensive tackles are going to go.
I don't think until I got on the phone and was talking to different GMs around the league,
I realized maybe how fast and how down.
teams are to get one and how willing they are to pass up on a great wide receiver or safety or a
linebacker to get one because it's a game of musical chairs and i've dropped down on my notes right
o t's fly early five if not three is when the run could start six is going to be an o t unless
cleveland doesn't move out nine now of a sudden kansas city all the chatter on on offensive line
the giants at 10 if they don't take one at five could be offensive line then you got this little lull
Baltimore excluded could be the guard
Venge Yuanay from Penn State
but offensive tackle specific
Detroit at 17 Pittsburgh at 21
Philly at 23
Houston at 25
Keep an eye in Chicago too by the way
Keep an eye in Chicago
Yep
I think those are the exact spots where they're all picking
But you get my point
So
armed with that information
There's urgent to get these tackles
The market's there
I don't think people would gauge the market.
I don't know if I had gauged the market correctly two, three months ago.
There is a much bigger market than it might seem looking in.
And the same thing happened last year.
Yep.
I mean, the same thing.
I mean, it was Kelvin Banks.
Well, Campbell's not going to go that early.
Well, somebody goes that early.
Campbell goes four.
Kelvin Banks goes eight.
In between there was the Jets took.
Membu, Armand Membu from Missouri.
Seven, I think it was.
Yep.
Everyone thought it was going to be the tight end warring, or at one point.
and there were different, there was different speculation.
So that's important context before we get to some of the juicy stuff, right?
You love this show.
Who's your favorite show?
It's my favorite show of the year.
And it's tricky because I'm making sure I'm not stepping on landmines because I have notes and I've quotes and I have things that I can't say, but I've got to be, you know.
But there's just excitement.
And I honestly was like, it's kind of going to be chalk.
I feel like, and maybe there'll be one trade.
All of a sudden, even before the Giants, I'm getting all this stuff.
different stuff and now the Giants thing happened and now they kind of there's this this poll
position where they can maneuver within the maneuver right yeah um so so that's that now let's go back
up to the top we obviously know Fernando Mendoza is going to be the choice with the Las Vegas
Raiders let's get right to two I'll be the first to admit it um whether I fell for it I
trust where I got information it was my understanding as I told you last Sunday a week ago it was
not decided between
Arvel Reese
for the New York Jets and
David Bailey.
Ohio State, Texas Tech,
respectively. Two pass rushers.
One, we know exactly what we're
getting in Bailey coming out of Texas Tech. He is
fast. He is proven. The stats
are there. He's been doing it his whole
career from Stanford to Texas Tech.
And he did it at the highest production
level you could imagine this past year.
But he's lean.
There's some tightness.
And if you really study them on tape, it's a lot.
It's speed rush.
And it's speed rush.
And offensive tackles are really smart.
And you played the offensive tackle position, Steve.
And you know, even though that guy is a lot faster than me,
if I know I don't have to worry about the power or that sharp outside in,
I'm going to get a beat on it.
Yeah.
You just your set.
Yep.
Right.
So there's that.
And he's not great versus the run and probably never will be.
Good player can be disruptive, but not that consistent,
hard edge setting guy.
Then you got Arvel Reese.
One year starter, and that one year as a starter was a conversion, right?
And so in a lot of people's minds, it was like the safer pick is the proven guy in
Bailey.
Here's my information.
It's Arvel Reese at number two.
And you want to know why?
From the information I'm getting?
Because Arvel Reese is a safer pick.
And I will be the first to admit.
I do not know Daryl Mugi.
I don't know him.
We've never met.
And there's very few in the league that I haven't at least met.
He's brand new to the job, and I look forward to the time.
So I'm trying to dig a little bit on who, you know, what's this guy about, you know?
And remember along came Polly?
Yeah.
Ben Stiller's role.
He was kind of like a human risk management.
Yeah, an insurance guy.
Yeah.
But like he was like the guy.
Like he was the hardest guy to pass
And then you get the Australian guy
Hang Gladden and jumping up.
Philips Seymour Hoffin's like maybe his greatest role.
He's had so many good roles but I loved it.
The best.
Anyway,
Mucci's kind of that for my understanding.
And by the way,
that's kind of the captain you want the head of the ship, you know?
Like he is,
it is risk aversion
in the first three rounds is my understanding.
And that's what it should be.
You need like calmer head.
But it's league-wide
or just,
I guess,
it felt like, well, if you want to go with the safer,
bird in hand is what I used,
is what I was saying about Bailey.
You know he's a pass rusher, right?
But yeah, you do, but what if he's a DPR?
What's the fail?
What's the fail on Arvel Reese?
You think it's Devin Lloyd.
You think that if he's, if he doesn't work out on edge,
he turns into Devin.
I don't think he's going to be quite as good as Devin Lloyd,
but I think he's going to be one of the better off-ball linebackers
that can rush.
Okay.
Yeah.
I mean, if that's what you think, I get it.
I get it.
But it's still, yeah, I don't know, man.
Okay.
I don't, I, I, I love both of them.
I don't think that David Bailey needs to be,
I think it's got to be close.
I would imagine it's close in the building because I think.
Well, I think it was close enough that I don't think I was getting lied to.
Maybe I was.
Yeah, yeah.
That last week, it wasn't, here's the thing that everyone in the league has told me,
and I, and this is one thing I believe in from a football standpoint.
Because today's, tonight's goal for us is to talk about what I'm hearing, but also talk about the footballer.
What makes sense?
Does it pass the sniff test?
Right.
And what's always made sense to me in the conversations I had with people in the league going back is like, it's important for you to, like, Arvel Reese's a sideboard.
Arvel Reese is like half human.
Like he's just a special athlete that explosion, the power.
But you better have a plan.
And that made all the sense in the world.
Like GM better be in lockstep with head coach and defensive coordinator.
In this case, it's – and I said on Sunday, and I repeated this week,
in my conversations, there was an element of AG, don't know, like, we'll see.
Haven't have it made the final decision.
Well, and quite honestly, the David Bailey canceled 30 visit could have gone one of two ways.
and we explained that to you early in the middle of last week.
Yeah, but your point about that sticks with me, man.
What?
Like, just even if you're not, even if you're taking him and you want to use it on a, like,
you still want him to come in the building.
You still want to visit him.
You still want to spend time with him.
Oh, 100%.
Get him around the team.
Get him around the facilities.
It felt like a, like, I don't get it.
That's not right to the young man to bring him in here and then, and then four days later,
or six days, seven days later.
Not take him.
We're just not going to take him.
Right.
That doesn't seem like, it seems like, what's, what's class this,
thing up a little bit. Yeah. So, so there's that. So, you don't have to agree with it. I actually do.
I actually think the more I think about it, if our biggest thing is we can't miss on this guy.
And I'm not saying David Bailey is going to be a miss, but as a human risk management.
Yeah.
corporation, a one-man corporation, I think Mugi's looking at this and has AG saying,
here's our plan.
That part's critical.
Because you can love him and think he's the safest.
But if your head coach and defensive coordinator doesn't have a clear plan that he's described for you, what's the point?
Let me ask you this.
Here's the risk when you're looking at this risk management.
Five years from now, you take Reese and he turns into a, even a,
Devin Lloyd type linebacker, and David Bailey turns into a double-digit sack guy, pro bowler.
I mean, that's tough.
Yeah, but there's a chance.
There's a chance, if we're just being honest about it,
there's a chance that David Bailey doesn't, like...
He's got to get better against the run.
You're right about it.
He's got to get better against the run, and there's a little bit of tightness that has always concerned.
me with him. And when I go back and I watch all the sacks and I watch it, he's awesome. I don't want to,
like, I'm not, he's going to be a top five top, whatever it is pick. And we can kind of walk
through it in a minute. A lot of his production comes. He's just, he's faster. Yeah. He's more
explosive of, you know, and he's relentless. And so, I don't know. They obviously see it one way,
and I get it. I mean, it's close. And I actually see it the same way. Yeah, I don't know.
belly's longer, he's a little bit thicker.
I know I'm getting an edge.
I don't know if I see it the same way.
Okay.
When you're playing, I mean, you're talking about playing it safe now.
Like, you're talking about playing it safe.
This guy's been playing the edge position for forever.
Well, I'm giving you four days until it comes up on Thursday night,
when they're on the clock after the Raiders,
go through the ceremony of anointing Mendoza.
And I want you to dig deep.
And I go back to the table, and I'll do the same.
So I want us to actually.
and if it's Bailey, then we can talk to the other side of it.
Either way.
I want to have that stern eight-minute discussion.
Maybe not all eight minutes.
We might want to preview the Cardinals coming up.
But I want that to be at least a two or three-minute conversation
where we stand firm on it and we can go back and track that.
But that's what I'm hearing.
So what are the Cardinals doing?
Get this.
I've been saying all along there's a voice in the Cardinals.
I don't know if I can take it.
That has been pushing for.
love. I think I've been saying, I don't know, February, what's
call it? It's been, it's been a while.
It's been over a month. It was like your first mock, I think you put him in there, right?
And there's been a voice. I'm hearing that voice carries more weight than maybe I thought.
I'm told if Arizona sticks, it's Jeremiah Love. I'm also told, I don't know that there's a
team in the top 10 more eager to move out of that spot than the Arizona Cardinals are at number
of three.
Yeah.
And I'm,
hold on to that for a second.
Jeremiah,
I love at three.
Thoughts.
It's early.
It is early and I love the player.
And we just talked,
we just had this conversation
about Tennessee at four.
I think there are people,
I'm,
if this is accurate information,
I think there are people that,
that are in that building
that are trying to explain that part too.
Yeah.
Like,
you're structuring the show is,
like this show on teams,
and I'm dying just to say this.
Jeremiah Love's not getting out of the top five, right?
According to my information, if he doesn't go through,
he's going number four to Tennessee.
There I said it.
So, like, obviously the league views him a different way
than maybe some other people will look at the history of the position
and the positional value.
And it just seems really early to me.
But he's the best player on our book.
Oh, he's the best player in the draft.
There's no question about it.
He's so much fun to watch.
So when we're applauding all the GMs that we were talking to at the Combine,
when you're saying, like, don't pass up the Hall of Fame
or take the best, you can't go broke,
taking like a profit like these yeah take the best football players and now one's going to
maybe do it and you're going to be like oh i don't know yep it's going to be the seventh highest
eighth highest paid running back in the league one you're not wrong for calling me on it i totally
understand you calling me on it but where i would say there is there is a voice when you're
shoving protein bars down your face getting into bed there's a little voice in the back of your
head saying running back at four i swear
to God there is.
There definitely is.
And I swear to God, I look right at that depth chart, and I was like, and I'm like,
eh.
But we just resigned Paris Johnson, and I love that.
Yeah.
And we're, and we, we're okay at the center.
We're okay.
But who's my right tackle?
Yep.
And I'm sitting there, but that's part of, not the hole.
That's part of the reason they want to move back off of three.
Of course.
To go get Maui Noah or, or, or,
or even like a Caden Proctor, wherever they land,
they know they've got three guys right there
and Blake Miller.
And Max Enochore, I'm told Blake Miller and Enochos are right around 20,
maybe a little earlier, could go.
So, yeah, I don't think you're, like, it's not crazy.
And I promise you some people who are really smart
inside that building.
And maybe you're frustrated that if this is the case,
maybe frustrated that we might take Jeremiah,
I love at 3.
Yeah.
Because we ain't ready.
And didn't we just watch this movie last year
with Ashton Genti going to the Raiders?
And I actually like love more than I like Genty and I love Genty.
But we just saw this happen.
If you're not ready for the running back, you can see what happens.

Let's get to the elephant in the room
because we're here.
I got to be careful.
and that is not my strength
as you well know
and everyone of my family and friends well know
and I think people who have been loyal
listeners and viewers on Netflix and Spotify
and we appreciate you in Apple podcast
wherever you get them
careful is not my thing
there's information
that I know the Cardinals are getting
that
if you like Ty Simpson
it might be closer to like the Orlovsky view.
Here we go.
And maybe right around where I kind of have thought he deserves to go
than the Gen Pop.
I don't know that it's definitive.
I think part of the reason,
we just explained moving out of three
gets you back to get value at offensive tackle.
an additional pick for this roster that has an edge need and offensive tackle need
and no need greater than quarterback but you kind of bump it down your needs because
like yeah maybe if they can get Ty Simpson great this year and if that's not heading in the
direction they want they get right back in the market in 2027 with that class okay that's when
they'll take care of that I'm going to just let you go the Jets I think as I've said before
sitting there 33 I don't know if it's another team and I don't know if it's a team we've talked about
I do think there's some interesting stuff going on that they're hearing about.
Let me ask you this question.
Yep.
Follow me here.
And I don't think this, I'm not saying that this is the thing, but let's start checking some things off the list.
What's the difference?
If you're the Rams, what is the difference for your system specifically?
Now, when we look at like male and female relationships, right?
attraction.
Yeah we go again, man.
Attraction.
Why does it always come back to this?
Some women like tall, strong, good looking, some women like, you know, tough guys.
Some women like guys who are like, you know, into the things they're into.
Some men like blondes or brunettes and tall and short.
Beautiful to one can be not so beautiful.
And it's not one, everyone's beautiful in their own way.
Attraction is a different deal.
Okay.
So for the, like, we have to be like kind of hippies, man, and like, we're like artists and like we're, everything in the world is beautiful to us.
Yeah.
Because we don't have a scheme that we're drafting to.
So I look at, I look at Bichai Lemon and I say he's different than the guys in the second round.
Right.
And the guys in the third round, right?
But what if I don't like blondes or six feet women?
What if I'm in, like, what if I'm only in, like, what if I'm only in track?
So the Rams are attrower.
attracted to a certain type at wide receiver.
We know it.
You can run a 4-5-8 like Pooka Nakua, right?
Mm-hmm.
Right?
You can have a 7-3-2-3 cone,
but you better be physical
and you better run your ass off
and you better have contact balance
and you better block like it's the last thing
that you're able to do on this earth
or else you're gone.
Yep.
Okay?
McCoy Lemon does all those things.
McCoy Lemon is a perfect fit.
Omar Cooper Jr. is a perfect.
fit. But what's the difference to them? Is the gap as big for the Rams as it is the rest of the
league when you get to a Chris Bell who's since now he doesn't have the blocking element from Louisville?
He's coming off the injury, but he's the head of schedule. And when he catches that thing
and transitions upfield, the combination of speed and power is different. Yep. What's the difference
between McCoy Lemon and Omar Cooper Jr.
let's say, and Dejohn Scribling.
What is the difference between those guys
and Jeremy Bernard in that system
when you're attracted to that thing?
Yeah, and Steen's not going to take them at 13.
He's going to wait and get them in the second round.
That's what I'm saying.
Right.
We're not saying that those players are now...
No, no, I'm saying.
Yeah, I just want to be clear about it.
So why would I use the 13th overall?
Correct.
Correct.
And they've done it in the first.
pass. They haven't had to go and get a guy that early.
Now, we're trying to win a Super Bowl right now. We believe, and a lot of people would agree,
that was the best football team in the NFL last year, even though they didn't win the game
they had to win. Right? Yeah.
So what do we need to get there? Well, we went out and we got two corners.
Deated. We just signed both our safeties, but one's coming off of an injury, right?
And you're looking at the needs and you're like, yeah, wide receivers there.
But I've got this one in the fifth, man.
Yeah.
I can go, like, in the second, Jeremy Bernard, you go look.
I sent you his numbers, man.
Look at the difference with like Jeremy Bernard and scribbling.
They're more explosive.
They're like almost same.
They do the same things.
So I can get that one maybe in the second.
Yeah.
Chris Bell is explosive.
He's got a block.
He's got to be...
So I'm just looking at that, and I'm like...
Hmm.
And we've known that they love...
They love Ty Simpson.
Like, that wasn't a secret.
He fits perfectly what they want to do.
But we also, like, oh, they gave away that other first round pick to get a corner,
and then they got another corner, both from the Chiefs.
And so they filled out...
Like, that was the big...
That was a big question, right?
That was the big question, that secondary.
We were a secondary.
We were a cornerback.
position away from winning the Super Bowl.
Here's what I don't buy.
What?
I get the approach.
If the approach is going to be that you're freeing up the 13th pick by taking your
receiver in the second round, the player can't be Ty Simpson at 13.
It's just too early.
It's too early.
And you have Matthew Stafford coming back.
So let me ask you this question.
Let me ask you.
What if I said to you, I think that they're going to take a receiver in the second round?
The Rams sitting there with wide receiver need.
We get it in the second.
offensive tackle, linebacker, cornerback, tight end, quarterback.
I didn't have safety in there.
I have seen some connection between the Dylan Thineman.
Safety from Oregon.
Difference maker, playmaker.
We're in nickel.
So who else is sitting on the board?
I can't imagine they would go after Sadiq as much as I like them
because they have so many tight ends there.
And I know they run a lot of two, three, tight end sets.
I mean, that would be super interesting if that's how they addressed it.
But I don't see that that would be the player.
it's just interesting offensive tackle
maybe they take one at 13
I would be surprised by that
I would too
they like McClendon
they like I know yeah
the problem with their needs are
they're not like the needs of these other teams
that we're talking about these are like let's get depth
we got a 2027 free agency group
these are needs of an organization
that's got its stuff together
and is ready to make a run
let's get better on special teams
stuff like that so if nothing else
comes from this conversation
I don't know that they're gunned ahead.
Like everyone in the world is like,
Mackay Lemon, if it's not McCoy Lemon,
it's Omar Cooper Jr.
They fit so well.
13.
I don't know that you need to do that.
Right.
They haven't had to do it in the past.
That frees up the 13th pick in the NFL draft, bud.
Yeah.
And maybe it's moved back.
But I don't know why they need additional picks.
They don't.
It becomes a luxury pick.
You'd like to think that it's going to be on a resource this year.
year to win a Super Bowl this year.
Yeah.
Because I don't care if Ty Simpson turns out, like.
Unless.
Unless Matthew Stafford gets injured and you feel better about Ty Simpson.
Or you just think you're a true believer.
You're a McShay Simpson guy.
If you're a true believer.
You've got to be more of an Orlovsky Simpson guy.
Fair enough.
If you are an Orlovsky.
Because I love them, but I recognize that 15 starts.
Yeah.
One year as a starter, didn't hold up physically.
I recognize all the reasons why all the bad things happened,
but I also realize, historically, this don't work.
You are moving all your chips in if you make that move.
So let's get off the Rams for a second.
Although I hope people get the point on this.
There's a chance they don't go receiver there.
That leaves you with the 13th pick that everyone has just checked.
One of the six receivers is going.
Right.
Well, what do they do now?
Okay, it's not Ty Simpson.
We're going for here.
What if it's...
If Minnesota's thinking I'm getting Dylan Thineman, and now you're not.
Yeah, or Colorado.
Yep.
I hear Carolina's got a lot of love for Dylan Thineman.
Is he getting a 19th?
There's a waterfall effect, man.
The Rams become this wild card that people don't like.
Everyone in the league wants them to take Ty Simpson, not because they think
Ty Simpson sucks.
Because teams in the league, if they don't need a quarterback, the greatest thing to happen
in the world is a quarterback goes before him because it pushes the rest of the pot
that right right yeah so that part's fascinating to me good luck with that mock oh i don't care i'm
having a blast with this man i could give a mock right now it'll probably be better than the one i like
sit down and try to work through on on tuesday um there's a lot we won't get to in the show though
the newsletter will be out in a few hours and we're dan's gonna dan's coming back from a wedding
in and in ashville and and i'm sure he had a good time because dan doesn't know what bad time
but Dan's going to have a good time
helping me with this newsletter tonight.
So there's going to be more information in there.
You're going to want to check it out.
Again, the ringer.com slash McShay.
And again, Thursday night, Friday night,
live on Netflix.
We're so pumped.
You should see the crew behind here.
We just met a, like, this is all brand new studios.
Yeah.
Bells and whistles.
Like, Bill Simmons doesn't mess around, man.
Like, we're doing this thing right.
And we're, think about where we were 18 months ago to where we are now.
We're just, we're growing this thing.
And I'm pumped and I'm thrilled to be a part of it.
of it. So, so I don't, I can't speculate. This show isn't about speculation, but I still am hearing
if the Cardinals want to get him, and it goes back to where we started this at number three.
If they're there, I'm told it's Jeremiah Love unless someone talks someone into something
different. Right. And if Love doesn't go three, he goes Tennessee at four, is my information.
And if Love has gone at three, then I hear Tennessee could be a David Bailey team.
Okay. Makes sense, right?
That's a nice get for them. Yep.
So all of that said, the Cardinals are undoubtedly hearing some of the same things I'm hearing.
And so it accelerates the, yeah, we want to move back and get an offensive tackle at a better value.
Yes, we have all these spots in our roster to fill, but none is more important than quarterback.
And this is the other information I want to share.
The Cardinal, it's not like, yeah, if they get to him or we'll move up a couple spots.
I'm told the Cardinals absolutely dig
Ty Simpson
and they want them
and everyone's kind of playing
plain coy and cool and like
yeah he's all right
that they want to give an opportunity for this year
go listen to LaFleur
Michael LaFleur, new head coach and
some of the
bread crumbs
yeah tea leaves bread whatever
like it makes sense
so do you over
do you overshoot it and go up too high because
you're getting bad information because everyone in the league's fucking with everyone right now.
And everyone's right.
And they know how to get information out and they're going to Shreger and they're going to
Schefter and they're going to me and they're going to DJ and they're going.
So like maybe we're all getting played.
A lot of people got played with the David Bailey thing even though I don't think it was played.
I truly believe there was discussion.
But it probably didn't hurt their cause to get a league.
What if it's Bailey?
Would we, let's see if we could drum up some more interest in that pick?
No biters.
I wonder how high would they have to go to get back in?
And I would say this, if they even have any kind of fear, then you, but again, if you're a true believer, then you go.
Like, you just make that move.
And I don't want to make this.
Like, I've watched too many networks.
Like, it's all ties since.
I'm just saying, watch for the Cardinals.
They have an interesting, just like the Giants had an interesting situation on their hands of how far do we move up.
Who really wants them, Jackson Dart?
Who really wants time?
Simpson.
I'm thinking the exact same.
So there's a game of
chicken that's going to go on
and let's see.
Yeah.
Okay?
So that part's fascinating.
I mentioned four.
We talked, Anasim about five
with the Giants.
That brings us to six.
Here's some information that
this isn't,
sorry.
Any of this going to the newsletter?
This is in your wheelhouse, bro.
This is in your wheelhouse.
Haslam.
built the Flying J off of analytics and changing the tweaking the, right?
Hence, the most analytically driven the team in the league.
Yep.
And DiPedesto's gone.
Andrew Berry's still helping them, you know, trying to merge and mesh.
So for some Maui Noah is the best tackle in this class.
They could view Maui Noah as a,
an incomplete evaluation because he didn't work out and didn't maybe get all the numbers on the
same field as a Spencer Fano did.
Yeah.
Or a Caden Proctor did.
And those numbers were really good, except the arm length on Fano.
Everything else was really good.
In the hands, which are weird.
I told you about the chiefs.
And listen, maybe it's Maui Noah.
Maybe they sit at nine and they go a different route.
But the information is Andy really wants that offensive line taken care of.
And with the information that I just told you with all,
all those teams from the Giants to the Browns to the chiefs to the,
well, they would be the chiefs, to the lions, Steelers, Eagles, Texans,
all of those teams need an offensive tackle.
Not getting to 29, right?
Yeah, I don't think so anymore.
No, there's no chance they're getting 29.
I think San Francisco, where is San Francisco pick at 27, I think it is?
San Francisco's at 27.
That's where Lomu goes if he's still evasive.
He's not getting the 29, okay?
That's a nugget for you.
That was for free scumbags.
Yeah, scumbags.
So the Browns are interesting because I don't think it would be Maui Noah, but I don't, you know, keep an eye on that.
But if the Chiefs have that much interest in Fano, for the Winningham reasons that we just talked about and Andy Reid, five would be the spot to go up to.
Keep an eye on that.
the interesting part is you know that you're Washington.
And some people don't think it's styles.
I'm told that if Dallas were to move up.
I got some...
Dallas has... Dallas moved up one time in the first three rounds
and 35 opportunities since that guy, Will McLeigh has taken over,
overseeing the draft manager in 2014.
And ironically or interestingly enough,
it was 2014 when they did it with DeMarcus Lawrence, right?
That was the first time he was doing it.
Right.
So all this buzz about the Cowboys,
oh, Jerry's going to go great.
We do this every year.
I don't think that there are.
And no second round pick either, right?
No second round pick, they pick at 12 and they pick it 20.
Right.
So I don't expect them to move up, but there is some,
people think if they do move up, it's for an edge,
where does David Bailey fall?
If it's not four to Tennessee,
let's flashmock this for a second.
Now that we've got all this information out in the time,
top 10. Okay. Get your board up.
The ringer.com slash McShay. It's the fastest
moving board I've ever seen developed. Got it. I've like pumped.
One's Mendoza. I know you can't cross up. This is why I like pen and paper.
This is why I drafted Ruben Bain twice.
He did. I would make more fun of them, but I've done that before.
So Mendoza, Mendoza 1. 2 is the New York Jets
we're saying Arvel Reese, feel really, really strong about that.
Three, let's say the Cardinals can't move up that spot and they take Jeremiah Love.
Yep.
That becomes David Bailey is my understanding.
Not a lock.
There's Sonny Stiles Love.
Could he be the next Fred Warner in that defensive system?
Okay.
So Bailey could go there.
So that bumps Stiles down.
Stiles could go five, right?
Right.
But it could bump Bailey down if a team moved up to get an offensive tackle,
like the Chiefs or anyone else or any other positional player besides Jeremiah Love,
it could go, let's say Chiefs make that move.
I don't think they're going to.
But let's say it's offensive tackle at three to a team that comes in.
Okay.
To get ahead of this run.
And it's Jeremiah Love 4.
Then Stiles 5.
Offensive tackle 6.
Fano 6.
Here's what I've heard on the commanders.
I don't know on the David Bailey thing.
I don't know that.
If it's wide receiver, we already told you, Dan Quinn at Sunny Stiles if he's there.
If it's not, I don't know on David Bailey, but I am told with all this Jordan Tyson thing,
Jordan Tyson's become Calvin Johnson.
Love his tape, man.
He'd missed one out of every three games in his college career.
Love his tape.
Watch more of it on the flight.
I had a lot of time in my head.
You were raw dog in it, as they call it, looking at everything.
Every bit of information in the back is crazy route.
Marissa's sound asleep.
We were in Canada.
I think we're in Mexico.
I don't know what was happening.
She's a damn good player, but there's a lot of buzz.
Like, good agent, good agent, good agent.
But I'm told that Washington at 7 is absolutely Carnal Tate, if it's a wide receiver.
That makes sense to me.
Then you get to eight.
Saints.
Eight, they've been quiet recently.
The Saints have.
If David Bailey's there, though, I don't know, actually.
Bailey would go eight.
I don't see him falling there.
Because in this equation, Bailey's going to go four to Tennessee if love goes three, right?
And Bailey could go, I mean, Washington.
If there's no trade to three, then Bailey's off the board already.
If there is a trade to three, though, Bailey could fall.
Bailey could fall.
And I think I would have to say absolutely, I would have to say absolutely New Orleans would be the parish.
Right.
If it's not Washington at seven, depending on who's still available.
Okay.
So there's that.
But that's, you know, a little bit of a fall or uncertainty heading in.
Yeah.
I don't see it happening, but yeah.
For a guy who, for a couple weeks there, even if you didn't have him going three, you had two, you had them going three.
Right.
But at eight the Saints, is that a rule?
Ruben Bain team?
We talked about that.
Is that a Monsour Delane team?
I think that's a Monsor Delane team.
But it's also a Tyler Shuck team and Jordan Tyson or Tate.
And who's their number two receiver, man?
Oh, no.
No, it's not.
No, it's Velairee.
Why am I blank?
Too much information.
It's not the answer is what I can tell you.
It's not the answer.
lately?
Yeah, I mean, Olavé responsible for 25% of the team's receptions
in receiving yards last year, and it wasn't even...
Yeah, it's Devon Veeley, who had 25 catches, 293 yards in 2025.
Not the answer.
No, not the answer.
Okay.
So, yeah.
So they're an interesting team.
Yeah.
And then we just covered the chiefs.
I think the chiefs stay home and they take offensive tackle,
which could be Maui Noah.
It could be Fano.
I don't know if they'd pull the trigger on Proctor,
but they could.
But I also know there are people in that building
that are like, it's a hard sell when you're like, Andy,
we can get an offensive tackle.
And Andy's like, yeah, who? Where?
Right.
100%.
I got killed, murdered on X.
For a guy who's not going to play, Minch?
Absolutely not.
Absolutely not.
I don't know, man.
So 10.
10 is the Giants, and we covered that.
And that's Downs.
Well, in this mock.
Well, I honestly think if they get their defensive captain, I think then I keep here an offensive line.
Talk to me about their offensive line.
I get it.
They signed a Luminor to right tackle.
They brought in Falalei.
Yep.
From Baltimore, listen, tape isn't awesome.
Got it.
But he's a Harbaugh guy.
Why did Harbor want to bring him in?
Why did Harbor want to bring him in?
They got Evan Neal, who I get it, got it, got it.
They got Marcus Bough, may not fit what they want to be,
but, like, that's four bodies to basically fill one spot.
And you might be able to get a manual pregnon in, like, in the second round.
100% or Akeelan Rutledge or, like, one of the-
Chase Basantis might fall.
Like, one of those three was probably going to be there.
Right.
So, yeah, no, I'm hearing you on that.
So I think that could be wide receiver.
And yeah, they sent out, Joe Shane went out to Arizona.
And they, listen, they met with him when he wasn't working out at Arizona State.
Harbaugh and Shane did.
And then he went back out for the workout, which wasn't testing,
but it was running and, you know, catching the ball.
And by all the counts, it was really good.
And I think he had a meal with him and all that stuff.
And again, a lot of this could just be smoked.
And it kind of feels like it is, to be honest with you.
Like, if you put up my radar right now, it's like, we've all liked Jordan Tyson a lot.
But two weeks ago, Jordan Tyson was free falling with injuries.
And now Jordan Tyson's the best wide receiver in this class.
And it's kind of somewhere in the middle, usually, right where we had it.
Right in the beginning.
Where he's like, yeah, he's 10 to 20s his range, just like Carnal Tate,
but Carnell Tate's safer, more complete.
I'll admit it.
If you hit and if he stays healthy, he's the best receiver in the,
this class. So I get that.
But there's risk.
But maybe the Giants are like, hey,
we got our defensive
captain. Let's go get, let's go get
Jackson's dart a weapon. So
we got all those things to consider.
Then you get to 11, it's just Miami
could be offensive tackle.
Why is Miami not moving up, by the way?
They have all the firepower in the world.
Have you looked at the Dolphins roster?
I know, man, but like if they
see someone they love, they're not going to, do you think
they're going to hit on all of those picks? Would you
rather go get a guy that you're in love with, they're going to save all these picks because
we really might love a guy in the third round.
And there's good players there.
I get that.
But if they love someone, they can go up and get them.
They have the firepower to do it.
I think the dolphins moving up would be just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
I disagree.
And you got to remember, John Eric Sullivan comes from Green Bay.
Right.
Like this, like stay home, stick to your board.
Like Ron Wolf on down.
Yeah, I don't know, man.
We'll take a receiver in the second round, but we're not taking one in the first.
Although I do hear they like Kenyon Sadiq a lot.
Here we go.
He's not a receiver.
He's a tight end.
So we're not going to trade up for anyone, but we're going to take a tight end with all our team needs.
I just said, I hear Miami really likes Kenyon Sadiq.
Okay.
So maybe they pick 30.
They pick 30.
What if Sadiq gets past, what if Kenyan Sadiq gets past Baltimore, which I think he could.
If Vanga, you want to lose the pick there.
Gets past.
It gets past Carolina because Dylan Thinnaman's there, let's say.
Right.
Then you only get to move up from 30 to ahead of, I don't know.
I don't think it's going to happen.
But all of a sudden, he gets past 19.
Now take one of those, what is it, four picks in round three?
Yeah.
And go move up a few.
Okay.
I could see that.
Maybe that's the thought process there.
But they're BPA all day, man.
I don't know, man.
Have you looked at...
I get you.
I hear you.
But if you...
They have to rebuild a roster.
Their receivers right now are Jalen Tolbert, Malik, Washington, and Tutu, Atwell.
It is so bad.
Their free safety is Lonnie Johnson.
And their corners are Darrell Baker Jr.
And Storm Duck, who I kind of thought had a chance to be a good pro when he's like a sophomore at UNC.
Yeah.
And now he's got like one of the lowest PFF-Gre.
grades for whatever that's worth.
I know it's a controversial, but if you just want a quick view,
one of the lowest PFF grades, you told me the other day in like,
oh, it's not good.
In a while, in a minute.
So you got a great running back.
You got a quarterback that's exciting.
And you've got a lot of other stuff to fill out.
When I looked at the trade chart, from them to go to 11 to 6,
they gave up two of their third round picks, and they still would have two left.
So you would still have, even if you did that.
Yeah, but you're going to hit, you're going to hit,
Best case, you hit on three of those.
And by hit, I mean, one could be like a really good starter.
One could be like a sub-package guy and the others, like, sub-packaged speciality.
Like, you're not hitting on all four of them.
So, like, give me some rope to, you know?
Yeah.
I don't want to make this a dolphin.
Yeah.
No, I hear you.
I just think they're a team to keep an eye on because of the picks.
You know, whether or not you think it's the right move, they are certainly a team that's got the firepower to move around.
I think it's so
like we've got to hit on all of these picks
that mentality like why wouldn't it be like
a Benga Yuanay there?
Just like let's just go get our starter and pull him in.
Bet Dolphins fans would love that.
But we got a quarter like let's protect a quarterback.
No, I get it.
We've got we've actually let's line up
and at least be able to run the football.
And I think he's a good value there.
But it also could be
Mansour Delane.
Right?
Yeah.
It could be wide.
receiver. I just don't know if you... I don't think it's going to be receiver. I don't think
it'll be Sadiek. I think it's got to be a core player, man. Give me someone in the trenches at 11,
and we'll figure things out when we get up to 30. That gets you to 11, right? Yep. 11.
What is my information there?
12 is Dallas.
I don't think they're going to trade out of there.
It's kind of the run we thought it was going to be corners.
Then you get to 12 with Dallas.
Yep.
Is Ruben Bain still there?
It sounds like there's a shot.
There's a shot.
Now, we could go eight.
Jamon McCoy is no longer even in this conversation, right?
No.
He's falling.
I don't want to scare anyone like he's falling out of the first room.
But he's not in the 12 range anymore.
He is not on, he is not.
And from my understanding, no.
Okay.
Where I think probably bottom half of the first round, maybe 16s, like that range we start talking about.
Then yeah, I mean, and Bain makes a ton of sense there.
Bain makes a ton of sense.
I'm telling you, and I'm not linking this definitive, this isn't,
Dylan Thineman is a hot name.
He should be a hot name.
And I only know that because I,
I'm getting a lot of questions from people about it.
Right.
What have you heard?
Yeah.
Is anyone else talking about them, all that stuff?
Yeah, they stay home.
They want an edge rusher.
If Baines there is great.
If not, best defensive back on the board, I think is probably the mindset.
I've heard Keldrick Falk for Dallas at 20.
I've also heard from a couple people now.
That's the pick that they really want to move back and recoup a second round.
Yeah.
So if there is a Cardinals team looking to move up because they're getting nervous.
starting to swing.
I'm just saying.
No, I hear you.
I'm not arguing with you.
Here's the other thing, they don't need an offensive tackle.
We talk about the quarterbacks.
I'm told it's much more likely Dallas moves back from 20
than it is they move up from 12.
That one's fascinating because I just told you it's Murderer's Row.
21's Pittsburgh.
Yep.
22's fill it.
I'll be surprised if both of them don't leave the first.
round with the offensive tackle, okay?
25, double-channel.
I always do this.
25, I believe, is Houston, right?
Or is it 26?
Houston is 20, oh, 28.
What am I talking about?
Chicago is 25, though, and they might take one.
I wrote down 25.
Chicago is possible, although safety and edge to fit DA,
Dennis Allen's system, is kind of where they're going.
I've also been told they could move back.
But their left tackles not playing this year.
I understand.
Okay.
I understand.
I'm just saying.
And maybe they can move up and get it.
I'm just telling you, because these tackles are going,
and no one wants to do the offensive tackle show,
but get ready for it.
Get ready for it.
Because it's going to be this wild run.
And if there are trades,
it's going to be for these tackles, I believe.
Because when it's over, it's over.
Seven guys, we told you about seven offensive tackles.
And when it's done, it's done.
And they're going to go fast.
And so you get to that 21, 23,
Pittsburgh, Philly, 28, Houston.
27, San Francisco, 28 is Houston.
It's murderers row for the, not scraps,
but for whatever's left over after that first run that happens
in the first 17 pits, or the first 10, 10 to 12.
Yeah.
Because Miami could, so I could see a team wanting to move up to 20
to get ahead of Philly in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh, 21 and Philly at 23.
So Dallas fans don't be surprised if you move back.
And quite honestly, it's the play.
Because there's good edge rushes in the second round.
There's Malachi Lawrence.
There's Armason Thomas.
There's Cassius Howell.
There's a bunch of dude.
There's Gabe Accus.
So I'm going to pound that table for.
So that would be intriguing.
Let's leave the rest for the.
Yeah.
This is enough.
Yeah.
This is enough.
You do well.
I'll give you five stars.
This is your big show.
I'll take it.
Let's end it there.
I'm sick of giving out five stars.
I'll take my five.
