For those of you familiar, and we appreciate that you are.
Thursdays are for rough draft.
For those unfamiliar, it's an inside peek into our in-season NFL draft scouting process with an eye on Saturday's biggest tests.
All right, Steve, you ready?
Let's go.
Oklahoma State's Drew Mestamaker belongs in the QB1 conversation for the 27 NFL draft.
Absolutely not.
Oh, shocking.
I've got a first round grade on Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons. Too soon?
Yeah, it is. Like him.
Alabama's about to face a defensive tackle playing like a first round pick.
I hate that you got to him before I did, but yep.
And Steve, just admit it. Your favorite result last Saturday was my first losing pick three this season.
Didn't hate it.
Just 196 days until the NFL draft.
Men, you good?
I'm good, man.

In-season Thursdays are the best, man. Like, we've been doing this
We've been doing this since like 2003 together, something like that.
But we've always had our process, but it's been kind of behind the scenes.
And then we ramp up to like January and we start sharing a mock draft and rankings and all that stuff.
But we're always like building the board through evaluations and tape study.
Now in season with the rough draft show, we've decided screw it.
We're just going to share what we're doing along the way.
Process, right?
and it's been
it has been
stated many a time on social
and brought to my attention specifically
yo what about Mesta maker
with a quiet underbelly
of like you guys have talked about Austin Simmons
but like where are you in terms of this quarterback class
you're talking about Arch all the time
and Dante and CJ Carr
and Lenora Sellers
and all these guys but like
where's where's mess to maker everyone every
what do you call it the the uh twitter mafia
it used to be um
it's all anyone wants to talk about
and i in the preseason we had all those guys that we were doing
we had like 12 guys all the way down to nico i amaliava
and and um jordan mayava and john matier
i mean we were loaded with quarterbacks in the preseason
and i've got this guy from north texas that didn't start in high school
i popped in a couple tapes i was like
There's just so much work still to be done.
Like, I'm good for now.
Let's wait.
Let's see now at the elevation of competition from North Texas to Oklahoma State with his coaching staff.
Let's see how that goes.
And if things go well early on, then let's get them in the conversation.
Well, here we are.
Heading into week seven, and things have gone damn well.
Really well.
Really well.
And along the way, there's, oh, yeah, there's this cat that used to be the starter at Ole Miss.
It was groomed to be the next guy after Jackson Dart,
and we heard about him behind the scenes with Jackson Dart's there.
And Jackson Dart gets injured.
Was it the Kentucky game or Florida?
He comes to Georgia game, comes in, he's just ripping the ball.
They're like, oh, this is exciting.
Then he winds up getting injured early last year.
Trinidad Chamblis comes in, steals the show, college football playoff,
Lane leaves.
He stays.
We all know the story.
But then the start of the season happens,
and Austin Simmons is ripping the ball all over the place, too.
So, but we have, we've still talking about C.J. Carr and, and Lenora Sellers and the struggles with Arch and sellers and with, with car playing great, but competition and Mensa and all these other cats, we haven't gotten to them.
So we made the decision and I'll give you credit because I've been waiting for the right time and it feels like now is the right time.
We've seen enough ball and we've got, who's the Oklahoma State got this week?
We've got a big matchup. We got a big matchup, Missouri versus Ole Miss.
this week for obvious reasons that I just laid out.
And Houston, a ranked team, I believe, at this point, like 23rd and something like that in the AP
poll for whatever it's worth.
Two really important tests for both of these guys who have played pretty awesome so far this
season.
So here we are on a rough draft Thursday, and we're going to unveil what we've done.
Here's how this is going to work.
We're going to start the first segment here.
We're going to call it party crashers because that's what they are.
Quarterbacks, we did not know.
we had anticipated we could be talking about them,
but they have absolutely crashed the party
in terms of the conversation being had
about the 2027 NFL draft class
at the quarterback position.
I want to lay it out this way.
Let's start with Simmons because I think
there's more anticipation for Mestemaker.
Especially now that I'm going to get involved
and give you my opinion,
which I have given no one,
including you and Tucker and Abu and Dan behind the scenes.
Nobody has an idea
if I'm going to give them a seventh round grade,
or say that he's the number one pick in the draft not named Jeremiah Smith.
I haven't shared a bit with you.
So we'll get to him second.
You better not give him to seventh round grade.
Betty bad.
It would be fun, though.
Let's start with Austin Simmons, 6-4-220 pounds.
I want this to flow this way.
We have a beautiful website,
the ringer.com slash McShay.
I'll say it again clearly this time.
Theringer.com slash McShay,
where we are putting all of our evaluations up.
We've got 50 of them up right now.
We're going to continue to funnel those evaluations
through our editing group,
and we'll have another reveal coming up
not too long from now.
We also have the newsletter, the McShay report.
Every Saturday night and the Sunday morning,
I'm doing prospect, stock watch, basically,
what I'm seeing,
and then we're going to start ramping those up as well.
Some big news coming with the newsletter as well.
So with all that said,
This doesn't need to be a three-hour breakdown of two quarterbacks.
No.
Let's start, but I do want to do it.
We see these gender reveals, which I will leave my opinion of them out of here.
But let's do a grade reveal first and then work backwards.
You get 90 seconds.
I get 90 seconds.
We can discuss for a couple minutes and let's move on because we've got a lot of other things to get to.
Including advanced scouting today, cross-checks, and
pick three. All scouting stuff, except the pick three. We're just picking winners for money,
Kesh.
Scouting stuff, but with an eye to Saturday. So here we go. I mentioned Austin Simmons, you know the
background, you know the height, the weight at 6-4-220, listed, not verified by scouts.
Neither of these guys got preseason scouting grades from National Blesto.
Neither of these guys got verified height weights or estimated 40s.
This is just listed from the school site.
Give me your grade.
I'll give you my grade and then you go first on Austin Simmons.
I'm giving Austin Simmons a 88 and 88.
I gave him a 90.
You go first.
First of all, you talk about that frame.
It jumps out to you, 6-4-220.
He is a big, strong kid.
He throws with a strong base from within the pocket.
The thing that jumped out to me the most when I first watched him was
the timing, the accuracy and the velocity of attacking the middle of the field, I think is outstanding.
The more I've watched him, the more I love the way he throws whole balls against his own looks on outside the hatches.
He can extend plays.
He's, I mean, for a guy who hasn't started a lot of games, this is the second biggest thing that I would say about him is he seems to be in complete control of this offense.
And he can get the ball out on time and in rhythm on the downside.
I didn't think he was a sharp against Troy.
He's only thrown one interception this year was off a tip,
but he also got away with some decisions against Mississippi State.
I thought he pressed a little bit.
Three of them on the second to last drive.
Three interceptions he should have thrown.
But go ahead.
Sorry, this is your time.
So you go like, you know, let's keep you.
We save these numbers, but when you watch the tape,
you're like, ah, man, you got away with a couple there.
And he did.
But overall, his development and where he's at for a guy
who hasn't started a lot of football games,
I think is really impressive.
Overall, I really like this player.
I do too.
Let me start with some of the specifics
and get to the broader.
I like his aggressiveness.
He believes, and some guys are over,
you know, they trust their arm too much
as the scouting term.
It's not even that.
I can see, you know,
it was cool kind of watching,
especially looking forward to this week's game,
Missouri Ole Miss.
It was cool watching his tape
after we've done a lot of tape on Trinidad Chambliss, right?
And seeing what Lane looks for, you know?
And it's also things, qualities that are important for NFL quarterbacks.
It's this belief in my eyes are where they're supposed to be.
I'm always ready to pull the trigger.
When I pull that trigger, I'm doing with conviction.
I'm ripping this freaking ball.
You keep saying it, but it's the most accurate way of describing how he throws the ball.
He rips.
the ball rips it he rips it and and here's the thing there are other guys that get maybe a little bit
more velocity on it but there's something about the like it's just convicted it's like yeah you know
and you mentioned the whole shots are beautiful um there were some some really nice layered throws
down the field like against mississippi state dropped it in the right rail touchdown like about
three minutes left in the third quarter later in that game it covered two beater
over the linebacker between the two safeties, beautiful throw.
I do think not just similar from Chambliss and some of my early scouting on him was
there's it's still layered, but it's like a lower landing, you know, like a plane that's
instead of like coming down nice and slow, it's like almost like an aircraft carrier.
We're trying to get on the, trying to land it on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean.
Like it is a sharp delivery, right?
And so it's got to be, it's got to be pinpoint perfect.
I think there's a little bit of work to be refined there.
He's not a runner, but he does have this suddenness and an urgency to him inside the pocket, right?
He can run, but he's not like, it's really about moving in the pocket, finding the right passing lane.
I love the anticipation, even some of the short throws.
excuse me like quick
quick slide to his left
finds the window puts it in a spot
and if you were just to peek through
if you had like blinders on just peeking through
that window of like linebacker safety
or like linebacker linebacker
on a slant let's say
you'd be like there's nothing there
and then all of a sudden a receiver goes flashing
right behind him and right there you know
it's that kind of stuff yeah those windows right
yeah um so you have an aggressive
confident, decisive quarterback, good arm.
I wouldn't put it at elite, but very good arm.
Yeah, like good energy on the, I like it a lot, you know.
But now let's go bigger picture.
He is 6-4-220.
He's not a guy who's like defenders hanging off of them,
running, extending.
He's not Lamar.
He's not Josh Allen.
You know what I mean?
So he doesn't have this superhuman thing going for, which is just fine.
Like there's a lot of guys in the league that don't have superhuman qualities that won a lot of games, a lot of Super Bowls, a lot of playoff games, all that stuff.
But when you don't have that mobility early in your career, this is like very simple.
I want to try to dumb this down as much as I can.
When you enter the league, you are not going to have the.
answers to all the tests. And honestly, Stafford still doesn't have all the answers to all the tests,
but there's this curve in the first two to three years that we see, right, of just trying to figure,
kind of make your way, figure things out. And you're going to, if you eventually going to wind up
having 70, 80 percent of the answers to all the different tests that are being thrown at you,
test questions, you probably have 35, 40, right? And so we're seeing young,
quarterbacks with mobility come in the league and they're able to make up for some of those times
where they just don't get it right, the read with extending a play, making a brilliant throw on the run,
taking, tucking it running, all that stuff. I don't see that in him and that's okay. So my thing,
if I was advising Austin Simmons is, dude, you can play at the NFL level. You can be a good
starter at the NFL level. You can go on and win a bunch of games. You can, you could with the
circumstances, right system, everything goes, you could win a Super Bowl at that level.
Yep.
But don't put yourself at risk at coming into this league when you don't have a superpower in terms of
the mobility aspect to get yourself out of those plays where you don't have the answer to test
early on.
Don't put yourself at risk by coming in and not being as perfectly refined as you possibly can
leaving college.
Does that make sense?
Of course.
I mean, he has eight starts.
I mean, I love where he's at for eight starts,
but he says eight starts.
He's so far ahead of,
he's so far ahead of the curve for eight starts.
He really is.
And so it's going to be tempting,
but it shouldn't be.
No.
Because this isn't about where you get drafted.
Oh, I was a 10th overall picked.
Pennix was what, eight or nine?
Yeah, right?
Yeah, in that range.
Yep.
and he had played a ton i don't know his number of his he had played a ton of ball
indiana then washington he had played with NFL receivers
there's some throws by the way that i watch and no knock on missouri's they're really good
college receivers but i'm like he's so good on some of these things like the anticipation stuff
throwing to a spot the trajectory fitting it right there where like NFL guys are going to eat that stuff
up.
Yeah.
You know, like incompletions, balls that like kind of batted around or like late receive.
The NFL guys are going to be like, you know, let's go.
Yep.
Anyway, that would be by Vice Dawson Simmons.
So I don't know that he should crash the party would be my final verdict.
But if he were and he continues to play at this level, yeah, I think he could be a first round pick.
I think he probably would be a first round pick.
Me too.
I do want to acknowledge just that he is an outlier.
And we do have to talk about this.
He's a left-handed quarterback.
And there are four in the league.
So there are four in the league one.
But that's why I make,
that's why the easy comp is Pennix.
Yeah.
And Pennix is one of them, too.
As they like, those are your two guys
or quote-unquote starters, I guess.
You can't, two-a, yeah.
Yeah, he's not even that anymore.
I know.
So that's when you're looking,
you're looking at these left-handed quarterbacks,
there is not a long history of left-handed quarterbacks coming in,
and especially in recent history,
and having a great deal of success,
and I do wonder if teams are going to look at it.
And it does, like you can tell when he throws,
when you watch his tape,
it comes out a little bit differently than it does with the right-handed quarterback,
obviously, and the angles are a little bit different,
protections are going to be a little bit different.
It is a thing that's worth mentioning.
It's not a,
yeah, totally.
Not a massive deal, but it is worth mentioning.
So you and I are in the same range on him.
And we both agree he should come back for another year.
I think this is just the start of what he's doing.
And by the way, even the three picks he should have thrown in that second to last drive,
which was really like the last full drive against Mississippi State,
he still played brilliantly in stretches of that game and did enough for his team to win, you know?
it's been a brilliant start.
I'm a fan.
I'm so encouraged.
I just hope we don't,
there isn't like information coming in from the wrong places.
And it would be like it would not be a tragic decision.
But the best thing for Austin Simmons is play this year out,
get a whole rinse,
refine repeat,
and then go get better next year,
and then be that much more ready to play in the NFL.
Where we're seeing guys now with like four,
40 starts, 50 starts, 60 plus starts coming into the league.
Right? And you're telling me Bo Nixon some of that success early in his career.
And you and I are on the record of what we think of Bo Nex and not fully in,
but recognize what he is and the perfect fit for him and all of it.
Some of that early success, Brock Purdy.
You can just point to all these guys who have had early success.
They played a ton of ball in college, man.
All right.
Drum roll.
Drew Mestimaker.
This is one of the first times you'll hear me say his name
since the start of this season.
I gave him a 90.
Oh!
He's moving up.
I think he's played really well.
He's moving up.
He's on the right arc.
I'm impressed with some of the things that he's done.
I'm giving him a 93.
I want to, like,
I don't know how, but okay.
We'll talk about it.
I know.
I know.
I was like, let's wait on Drew Mestemaker.
I was the one pumping the brakes.
I was like, he's just not there yet.
I pump the brakes in capital letters on my notes.
Pump the brakes.
The Tulsa tape was tough.
Shaky.
Shaky.
It reminded me of, when I was done with that,
I was like, that's how I feel after I play golf.
No, just put that in perspective.
By the way, Tulsa is the first game he's playing at Oklahoma State.
This is the season opener, the very first game.
This wasn't like the third game.
He's like, we got some inconsistencies here.
He just got off to a bad start.
I think that's important to mention.
The whole offense did.
Something felt wrong in that game.
They just, because then they follow it up with Oregon.
But it felt when I was done watching that tape.
In Murray State in between, right?
That's right.
Yes.
Because that was a get right game.
The Murray State game against this FCS team was a nice.
little thing that happened in between those two games.
And I'm cutting you off, but I will say this.
The confidence and the poise between the Tulsa game and the Oregon game are night and day.
And a big part of that is a 26 for 28, six touchdown performance against Murray State,
where you find to get your feet under you and you're starting to feel it.
And the whole offense felt like, no, no, the whole offense felt like, okay, we watched the tape.
That's what we don't do well.
This is where we have to improve.
This is where the protections have to be different.
this is where the receivers need to be.
And then let's get right versus Murray State.
You're exactly right, Murray State.
Yeah, I did give the golf analogy, and it's not really important.
But I actually, believe it or not,
hit some unbelievable shots every once in a while.
And not like, I can drill some shots every once in a while golf.
I hate to say this, you're not a bad golfer.
You're not a bad golfer.
But overall, I'm so inconsistent.
I don't get to play enough for kids.
work, life, live in the Northeast, all of that.
I don't know that I ever would be consistent.
To be honestly, sometimes the more I play, the more I suck.
But it reminded me of a round of golf where it's like,
there is some brilliance in here, man.
Like, there's some stuff.
But, like, the ugly is, like, in the woods,
two shots off the tea, into the water.
And, like, like, hitting the ground,
like, just all the trappings of playing.
golf or an amateur golfer were there.
I mean, some of the throws were like sailed, like into the ground, like bad misses, bad
eyes.
So that was a bad start.
And I already came in very skeptical.
I knew he had tools.
I'm not an idiot.
But I watched him in North.
I'm like, this competition hadn't played high school ball.
Why are we talking about him now?
We can get to him in 2028.
We got a ton of guys to talk about this year.
know? Yep. But then the Murray State happened and that was a that was a newsreel. I'll be honest with you. I wanted to get a feel for what, okay, got it. Yep. Comfortable. Good. All right. This is, but like I want to see him against competition. We all watched the game in real time against Oregon. It was the highlight of that week. It was the biggest story in college football. But watching it, you know, the tape of it in seeing, oh, that's a, that's like guy in face.
a slight adjustment, ripping the ball.
Not many guys can hit that spot.
And then you watch the, I'll just give you my rundown.
He's capable of exceptionally placing the ball at every level.
The ball has like this heavy energy about it that it will rip through anything.
When he like rips it, the ball is like great energy at the end.
tight spiral for whatever
but like it's just it's a
he throws a beautiful ball when he
when he rips it
um
he the negative I see in this game
and I don't know that it's ever going to be a
a strength is late flashing
pressure in his face he's
he's six three he feels taller
to be honest watching him
um
I think it's the release the release point is high
well it's interesting
he has a low carriage
ball
comes back up and around. So by the way, Simmons has kind of comes back and around too.
Yes, he does. Yep. Both guys. But his is, he carries the ball low and so it's like that, right?
But because he gets, has so much juice on the, on the football, it's not the biggest deal.
But I do think as time progresses, you'll see a little higher, tighter, less double pet.
It's like, below carriage, double pat, back around, all that.
But here's what he does have.
Enviable, and it's not elite, but enviable, 6-3-220,
mobile, strong, rifle arm.
In addition, he has got this, Jackson Dart had it.
Josh Allen had it, coming out of college, I'm saying, still have it.
He has this, I mean, it could go through a litany of guys who are really good starting.
Mahomes obviously has it.
And you don't have to have a height, a certain height, a weight, a speed, this like competitive thing that you can tell like over my dead Mendoza had for days, right?
And like there's these moments, right?
And whether it's the jump, the Mendoza like jumping into the end zone, but I'm talking.
more like a moment's big guys are hanging from them pressure's coming and he will hang in that
pocket with an element of toughness and confidence and i don't give a fuck and we'll just rip that
ball and there's something about him that i grew to love watching this and then i start to look
okay what the traits what projects he can take off and run although he's not the most
agile in the pocket he does enough sliding does enough climbing he's not he's not he's one of those
guys that's more he's a better feel for it than he is actually athletic side to side he just has a feel
for it he has a great i wrote i wrote 10 times he's got this feel and and these instincts in the pocket
right yeah um it's like kind of when we were watching drew aller right and i don't know why i made this
I guess it's just like the ball like the heavy ball that cuts through anything and it's just
like that's an NFL ball right like we
watching and you were desperately hoping that he could just slide away from this or climb up
in that and had a little, we always said like he's, he's athletic and he moved, and he like,
he's coordinated. He's like a coordinated athlete, but he just has these slow ass feet. Well, he,
this, that's him without the slow feet, right? He's like, he moves well. He's a good athlete.
I don't know. There's not many guys that, and I'm watching his confidence grow.
He's not pinpoint, man.
He will miss four or five or eight throws in the game
where it's like he's still got work to do.
His feet aren't always married to his eyes.
He hasn't played enough ball.
I just like Simmons, I want him to come back.
But I'm telling you right now,
if he comes out with those traits at this position,
he's going to be a top 10 pick.
I really believe that.
It depends on who comes out.
I mean, look, I really like this.
player. I thought the West Virginia game in particular was eye opening for me in terms of
touch and timing. I mean, in that game, in the red zone, deep balls over the middle layer
throws, that is just, it's an outstanding tape for him. And that second, sorry to cut you up,
that second half two, you're down 21, 13. They kind of needed something, they needed a spark.
Like, all of a sudden, it's that post, perfect throw. Now, it's 20 next time he gets the ball
That wasn't a touchdown, but it led to a touchdown.
They get the ball back 24-21, another post from the opposite side.
Brilliant.
Again, moments where you need to step up and deliver, he delivered.
And there are three or four moments in a game that he does that.
I'm with you on that.
There are three or four moments where I believe that he could be a first overall pick at some point.
But I hear it in your voice.
I sense it.
So talk to me about what I think you and I agree on the traits and some of those things.
Well, let's zoom out here a little bit.
He did not, he was not a starting quarterback in high school.
Like safety is like, I think.
This is like the rarest of rare situations.
Like I get some guys didn't start in high school, but they have such great traits.
Maybe they do a post-grad year or what, or they walked on.
He didn't start at quarterback in the day and age where like eight-year-old kids are on like the quarterback circuit already.
He didn't start at quarterback.
Patrick Mahomes quarterback coach, Christensen, calls up the head coach at North Texas.
they have a relationship and is like Jeff Christensen calls up the head coach and says,
hey, I got a guy.
And he's like, come on, man.
Eric Morris.
No, literally.
I watched an interview recently.
I knew the story, but just to hear it from his own voice, like, he didn't start.
Like, what are you doing, man?
Now Mahomes' quarterback coach is going to, like, pressure me into a guy to let him walk on here
at North Texas.
I got enough problems.
Like, you know, and he's like, trust me.
let him come in for a workout.
Morris talks about
there's certain drills
we make you do
when we get,
like our hands on you
is what coaches say.
Like when you get you one-on-one
and he put him through those drills
and he aces all those drills.
And then Christensen's sitting there
swearing by this cat, right?
Like you're going to love him,
everything he's about.
He just didn't get an opportunity
but he's such a team guy.
He's like,
and they bring him in and here we are.
Yeah.
So I'll just say this
because I'm just going to get it.
I'm just going to go through.
I want to go through his season a little
it here because I think it's important.
And I want to say that
for all the mess to make your lovers out
there, I get it, and I can see him
getting there. But this is why I don't
think he's in the conversation yet, because he
hasn't had the experience, and I
want to see more. He can only play the schedule
that you've had in front of you. I understand that, and he's
done pretty much the best that he could do.
For the most part, I believe
that. But let's keep everything in perspective.
And I just want to do that first. They
lost to Tulsa in the opening.
That team is now three, they've lost three
straight games. They are a 111th in past defense, okay? They've surrendered three, more than 300
passing yards at three of their five games, and Oklahoma State wasn't one of them. That is a bad
defense, okay? So we open up with Tulsa, shaky tape, they lose that game. Then you go to Murray State,
26 for 28 and six touchdowns. Great, okay? You do what you got to do. But this is now a one and five
FCS team, and he has 14 passing touchdowns on the year, and six of them came against Murray
state. So if you take away those sixth touchdown passes, his touchdown to interception ratio now goes
from 14 to 5 to 8 to 5. A little concerning. Oregon, I mean, what a win. What a story for Oklahoma
State. I don't want to take anything away from the program or the player. But again, if you
watch that tape, like I've watched it three or four times, it'll make your stomach turn how bad
Oregon played in that game. I mean, the big bad Oregon has not materialized.
realized this year. That secondary was terrible in that game. And by the way, Jaden Mayava, who we
have further down the board, threw for 326 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against
that defense. And Mestemaker threw for 317, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Very
similar production, right? I mean, it's not like he lit them up and you have that long run,
but don't even get me started on the long run. Mestemaker has great straight line speed,
and that's cool. Oregon was defended that place so poorly. It's, it's, it's, it's,
Hard to wrap your head around.
West Virginia, one of the worst past defenses in the country,
136 out of 138.
136 out of 138.
They've given up more than 300 passing yards in four of their six games.
UCF, 105 in the FBS, and passing yards allowed.
If you're paying attention, he's only played one FBS team
that is ranked in the top 100 of passing defense.
That was Oregon.
You sound pissed.
not pissed. I'm just frustrated because
there are other, there's, there's
a trickle down to this
that other quarterbacks that aren't
don't have this story and aren't getting
the kind of coverage and haven't had
this like same schedule are now
getting bumped down the board because this
Johnny come lately guy looks so good.
But like those
like there's a lot of,
what board? Bump down what board?
This is our board. Where do you, where do you
have him ranked in terms of your
of your quarterbacks? What number?
I was going to do that exercise with you.
We'll get to it.
I'm like 92, 93.
Like, I was going to do that exercise with you.
Because I get news for you, some of the guys at the top of our board aren't playing that good anyway.
I know.
Talk to me in two years when Drew Messonemaker has to actually play someone.
They go to Houston.
They go to Houston.
Houston terrible.
What grade you said you gave you gave me 90?
Yeah.
Did you like anything?
I already told you what I liked.
What I'm telling you is that this is why you need to take a breath.
this is why the pump like pump the brakes they like organ the organ i don't i hear you i hear you
it's it's the it's the age long debate of first of all first and foremost block out the noise right
yep everything you're saying is correct in fact it almost all of it is factually correct it's
not even your scouting evaluation.
What you're saying is factually correct, right?
And I'm on board with it.
So those are the facts.
Then there's the story and the media hoopla scout,
like the Twitter mafia, X mafia, whatever you want to call it.
Then there's the college football analysts who are the story
and he's going to be the first overall draft pick and all that.
Got it.
block all that out.
Nothing would have made, no, let me phrase this properly.
I would have had, I would have slept like a baby tonight.
If I came on this show and was like, bro, I got a 74 on them.
Like, it wouldn't have affected a single snore of mine tonight, right?
Yeah.
I don't care about any of that.
So now we've blocked all that out.
we've dealt dealt with the facts now it comes down to traits yeah so let's do that though let's do
that yeah yeah right right you like his traits better than archmanning in some ways yeah oh man in in
traits yeah okay no let me finish it's like arguing with i i won't mention a name in some way there are
some things he does that I wish Arch did.
Let me tell you.
I'm just asking about traits.
I'm just asking about traits.
Overall, if you're asking me, yeah, I'd give Arch, I would give Arch the nod in terms of traits.
Yes, he's faster.
He's bigger.
He doesn't have a better arm.
No.
No.
But they both have really damn good arms.
So, like, we don't need to nitpick.
But there are some things I see on tape where I'm like, what Arch is, is, not can, not, is Arch doing that?
Can I counter them?
Yeah.
Please.
Okay.
My counter is, is Drew Mestemaker doing that against Oklahoma?
I totally agree.
That's my count.
This isn't, this isn't, this couldn't be.
Now, we gave them enough time.
because it would have been assonite after, after Oregon,
not knowing if that defense is any good or not,
not knowing if he just did something that was a precursor to, like,
brilliance, that he's never going to lose another game,
like that Tulsa game, but there was a Tulsa loss where even I kind of joked with you,
like, can we just, can we kind of deal with Mestemaker next year now?
But then he goes out and beats Oregon, and now it's like Twitter Mafia,
and he's the number one overall pick.
And guess what?
Like, he could wind up being the number one overall pick.
He could.
Yeah, he could.
I'm not saying he would or should.
I'm just saying.
Anyway, all that said, can we at least agree?
There are some pretty freaking good traits here.
Oh, no.
There are some traits.
I told you all the things I liked about him.
I see the three or four plays that make me think that he could be the first overall pick one day.
I am with you on all of that stuff.
I am with you.
I do not dislike Drew Mestemaker.
But this is a very, depending on who comes out,
and the quarterbacks that we're comparing him to,
I think it's a little interesting that we're, you know,
the juxtaposition of Arch coming off this bad game against Oklahoma,
and you look at his overall numbers and some of the things that he's done,
and the teams that he's beaten versus a player, Drew Mestemaker,
who is very talented, but, like, really hasn't had his feet held to the fire
against a great defense.
It hasn't been able to show that he can do that.
It doesn't mean he can't do it,
but it hasn't been able to show that he could do it.
And he hasn't, this is what?
I mean, he's on his second year as a starter.
He didn't play in high school.
This is, he's not had a ton of experience.
So when I'm saying that I don't see him as a first round pick conversation right now,
I'm saying that because I want to see more.
I'm not saying that because I don't think he's talented enough to be
or that he doesn't have really good tape right now.
But we're all getting ahead of ourselves with this player.
And there have been a lot of players, and I'm not going to mention them,
who have caught our attention and caught everyone's attention with a way they have played at times.
And then when the competition steps up, like, I get that Oklahoma State is a step up from North Texas,
I guess, it's not the SEC.
It's not the Big Ten.
Like, it's just, he's not seeing that kind of a schedule yet.
So, I don't know.
Like, we'll see.
Again, he's got Houston this week, which will be a tough test for him in terms of the environment,
a night game on the road against a very good team that can score a lot of points.
But I expect to shoot out because guess what?
Houston's past defense has been pretty atrocious at times too.
But I want to see him.
Like if he used to get into a playoff and he has to play a legitimate defense, what are we getting?
And if it's still the same thing we're seeing now, I'm on board.
I'll rush to this microphone.
I said this show was going to go under an hour.
No one on Thursday or Friday wants to watch a show or listen to a show that's longer than an hour because it's 100 of other shows.
So you're starting to piss me off, but that's fine.
I want to do this.
I think we've gotten both of our points across, and I think it's okay six weeks into the season to be in agreement, but still divided on where we actually stand.
But it would be unfair to our audience to just walk away from this conversation and start talking about some offensive tackles and some linebackers and some other defensive tackles and not put.
a bow on this thing the proper way.
Do you have a pen in your hand?
Yes. I do now. Get one.
You don't. Thank you. You have a piece
of paper in front of you. I do.
This is not any order. I'm just
going to list off these names. If I can do it alphabetically,
I'll try, actually.
So I'm not giving any tip.
Car,
Chambliss,
Manning, Mensa, Moore.
I believe that's alphabetically by last name.
Are there any other quarterbacks that you strongly right now believe in first round?
So you, same again, sorry, Carr, Moore, Chandler, Mennon, Manning?
Yes.
Lenore Sellers.
Then I'll add sellers.
Man, you got a hair across your ass today.
I just, I, I, it just, I.
As Frank D. Feliz used to call it the Russian donkey.
You get the red ass today.
I apologize.
But I, you do.
Okay. So I want you to write down your rankings right now of those quarterbacks.
Yep.
Read me your one through six.
CJ Carr.
And I'm a little hesitant about that one too.
But C.J. Carr, Dante Moore from Oregon, Darien Mensa from Miami,
Trinidad Chandler's from Old Miss, Lenora Sellers from South Carolina,
Arch Baining from Texas.
Mestemaker would be by seventh.
We're not far off.
I would go Carr Moore.
Chambliss,
Mensa, arch, sellers.
Where did you mess the maker?
Well, that was part of the drill.
Okay.
Where are you putting them?
You just said, seventh?
Yeah, seventh.
I put him fourth or fifth, man.
Yep.
This is what bothers me about it.
This is why it bothers me.
Well, good thing we have a lot of ball left to play
and hopefully met Mestemaker smart enough
to play another season.
I hope he is too, by the way.
I would put Simmons below all seven of those, though.
Yeah, me too.
Not enough.
I just haven't seen enough.
I haven't seen enough, but I do really like him to even be talking about him in this consideration.
And now it looks like Iamaliava is very, very likely to go back to school next year.
It looks like Arch should absolutely go back to school next year.
And we still could have an awesome class.
Can I tell you this too?
That means we could still have a phenomenal.
Keelan Russell and Camaro next year and Mestamaker and Simmons.
And the guys I just mentioned, Nico back, Arch may be back.
Like, we can have two great years.
Go ahead.
Your boy Sam Levitt from LSU started to piss me off now because I'm starting to fall in love with him.
I'm starting to see some throws where even in the Kentucky game where I'm like, this is unbelievable, dude.
Some of the things he's doing are unbelievable.
Like I'm starting to buy the stock and then he's good for a pick every game.
The next game he doesn't throw a pick will be the first one this year.
And then he loses a fumble late.
I'm like, what are we doing?
stop doing that because all this other stuff is so good.
He's always, he was always going to be 2028.
I just wanted to bring awareness to him.
But I'm telling you, this cat, if he can cut those things out of his game,
he looks good at times.
Rinse for fine, repeat.
We could have a dog fight next year for a QB1 or like the first three picks or whatever it is.
Because he's got some awesome traits.

The one thing I've learned evaluating football players every week,
you can't predict everything.
And as homeowners know, the same goes for home systems and appliance breakdowns.
It's hard to predict when a broken AC, water heater, or dishwasher might sneak up on you
with a repair that could cost thousands.
But here's the good news.
Home warranties from American Home Shield
start at just $29.99 a month.
AHS can help fix appliances and home systems

Advanced scouting.
Top, we have top Saturday games, guys who we think are first, maybe second round prospects,
guys that you want the audience to know, I've just watched their tape,
and you got to watch.
You got to, like, they're going to play a key role,
and they're players that scout, like, that I, forget scouts, forget everyone else.
that I think is they're like,
they're making waves this year.
Who is it?
I think it's a good time to check in with the LSU offensive tackle Jordan Seaton.
I'm still in love with him as a pass blocker.
I do have concerns about guys getting into his frame
and him giving up a little too much ground at times.
But just an outstanding,
outstanding pass blocker.
And then when you see him on the move in the run game,
getting out in space,
pulling, getting up the second level,
really like that.
Ole tape's concerning about the run game.
It's just concerning.
I mean, some lunging,
falling off blocks.
I want to see him
with more nasty
and power in the run game.
I want him to add that element to his game.
And again, I want him to show a little bit better of anchoring.
This is a player that I think right now
is that first round pick all day.
First round pick all day has the talent
to be an early first round pick.
I want to see him start asserting himself.
It is nice. I'll say this,
the transition from Colorado to LSU
and the jump in competition,
there's no problems there.
He matches up well with these SE edges.
SEC edges.
He's good there.
But let's go.
Let's start asserting yourself
and showing that you are
the elite offensive tackle prospect
that the natural ability-wise you can be.
They got to be safe.
Yep.
This class is interesting in that position
because you've got Gooseby.
I feel like there's a lot of talent there.
Is he going to be the guy,
Trevor Locke from Iowa,
really good player.
I know you've been on earlier.
Seton seems to be like the
the odds-on favorite or the
like it seems to be the guy that everyone's like
just kind of has been stamping since like last May.
I thought it could be the first overall pick when we started the process
and then I've had some really good, really good
but not elite kind of situation.
Jacarius Peak he didn't play.
I had honestly I haven't looked.
Is he played the last couple weeks?
He has.
He had a knee injury in the spring.
I've got to like day in on that.
because I don't know.
Same. Right.
And the Miami kid.
Kentucky, the Texas, other Texas offensive tackle.
There's some other guys that are emerging.
I guess is my point.
And it's a little bit deeper class than maybe we thought coming into the process.
I like it.
Speaking of deeper classes than we thought coming into the process,
I already highlighted the Florida guy who's playing Edge.
Dejo number 90.
I don't have his name in front of.
I have to actually see that name to be able to pronounce it.
It's like, oh, baddejo, baddejo.
Anyway, there's some really good interior defensive linemen in this class.
The Florida cat is a riser, but could be back in another year.
I want to mention another one who's getting a lot of,
honestly, I've watched flashes, I've watched clips,
I've watched games in which he's flashed.
I've seen, you know, all sorts of stuff on social media about him
in the last like two, three weeks.
Then there was a guy who I respect a lot,
Cole Kublich, who came out and, like,
and he really dives into the SEC guys
and really studies the trenches a lot.
And when I saw he came out and said,
like, this guy, for me,
is the most dominant defensive player in the country.
And I was like, all right,
let me go actually watch all, like the tape, you know?
And so I dug in today.
And I even, I even quote,
posted back.
Like, I think you might, like, I'm hearing you,
and I'm excited to watch the tape,
but there's another, there's another guy named Cole,
Chris Cole, who's been pretty awesome for Georgia, you know?
Yeah.
So it's Xavier Gilliam, Tennessee Interior Defensive Line,
listed at, again, not National Blesto Scout Verified Preseason.
He's a richer sophomore, right?
I mean, he's a younger dude who could come out.
Third year player could come out.
exactly. He actually,
third year player,
this is his first at Tennessee,
two seasons at Penn State.
Franklin leaves.
He goes to greener grass.
He grew up in Maryland,
Montgomery Village, Maryland.
And
had a monster senior year there,
like was a four-star, highly-rated
guy, did some stuff
at Penn State.
15 tackles,
two tackles for loss, a half sack last year,
was not someone anyone was expecting to be on the radar
or play this level.
He gets to Tennessee and he's exploded, okay?
Through six games, 22 tackles, 10 for loss.
Almost half of his tackles are behind the line of scrimmage.
Five sacks, two force fumbles,
a fumble recovery, and a pass breakup.
That's six games, folks.
Now, he's probably going to come in just under 6-2.
He's listed at 305.
Looks about that.
Well-proportioned, right?
Here's his deal.
It's like shades of Grady Jarrett,
Sheldon Rankin's,
Byron Murphy.
I just like the Byron Murphy.
Because this guy, like, he's got that sack production.
I don't know that it, like, he's explosive.
like, foo off the snap.
It's like Joe Cullen, our coach at Richmond,
who now is with the chiefs and has been in the league forever,
and one of the best,
been touted by actual defensive linemen in the league is like,
yeah, he's the best defensive line coach,
interior defensive line coach in the league.
Like the focus on that, like, exploding out of your stance
with a motor and just like a violence about and get into the pads
and jar, like knock back the offensive lineman,
and then get back.
busy. That's who he is. Penetrate, disrupt, always working like half a man. Now, like some
other guy, and he's not vastly. This isn't like Aaron Donald undersized or, or Kendra Clancy
undersized. Like, he's just not the biggest cat. So when he gets into a, like, into a, a tight
alley fight, can't say phone booth anymore because the kids, kids don't know it. He, he's going to
get pushed around a little bit. And there are times, right, like against the double.
team weirdly enough, he just is so, he's such a pain in the ass that he kind of works through
it sometimes. But when he gets, if he doesn't win with his first, with that first violent
sequence of fire out leverage in pads, pop move, he can, he winds up on his feet,
off his feet a lot or gets knocked to a knee and stuff like that, right? But the flashes are so
brilliant and they're, they're more than flashes. It's like a like electricity thunderstorm where
It's like, you know?
Yeah.
And he sees the ball.
Fast eyes have become so.
The older, more seasoned veteran as a scout,
like the more I appreciate defensive linemen locate the ball,
and he runs well.
And I don't mean straight line run.
I mean running that loop.
Like with a bend and a flexibility about him.
He's a guy, man.
Yeah, he's been impressive.
He's a one technique, three technique.
right system he's going to be a
just a pain in the ass versus
the run he'll get some sack production
he's
really intriguing not every team's
going to love him he doesn't too gap he doesn't control
all that stuff but for teams looking for
someone who can wear multiple hats and penetrate
and disrupt he's a guy who he's going to be a
first round pick I don't know if it's this year or
if it's after next year but
he is absolutely playing to the level
whereas he's deserving of some of this praise
Tennessee defensive lineman man I love them
Yeah.
Like they, yeah, he is the next.
And they don't play a ton of snaps.
And so you wonder, because they're always so deep there, I didn't even look.
I haven't finished his, like, I did a scouting report on him.
I did a scouting report on the next guy.
I wrote up scouting reports on both those quarterbacks.
Yeah, I haven't gotten to like his snaps.
But, yeah.
Alabama better have a plan for him because he's the type of guy who could kind of muck things up,
even though Keel and Russell can, like, get out of it.
But I would be like, all right, you, you, you,
force them off the spot, our outside guys better keep contained.
And then we could cause some problems for this young quarterback.
Yeah, he can make them comfortable.
All right.
Last one before we get to our pick three.
Cross check.
This is where you can take it anywhere you want, a player you've heard about,
you've talked to someone in the league.
It doesn't have to be the biggest name.
It doesn't have to be a first round guy.
You just want to bring awareness to this cat and he's playing the game on Saturday.
It doesn't matter if it's Division III, whoever it is,
just give the folks a player who they should probably start to get to know their name.
I went with Penn State Corner, Audavian Collins, leads the Big Ten and passes broken up right now with eight.
511, 183 pounds.
I was like, is this guy kind of a nickel guy?
Look at his history.
He's played almost exclusively on the outside through his career.
He's been a starter the last two years.
So I throw on the tape and I'm like, what am I expecting here?
and the thing that jumps out to me is plays bigger than his size.
Right away, that's what jumps out to me.
And what I mean by that, tough, physical, strong corner for a guy who's listed at 183 pounds.
I rarely do this because I think it's dangerous.
But based on just looking at him on tape and how he plays and how he breaks things up,
he appears to have long arms for his frame.
One of the things I love that he does is he gets his head turned.
You rarely do it.
I do it too much.
But one of the things I really love about him is he gets his head turned.
And you know how these guys, they just have a feel for how to position them,
and on these vertical routes, they'll just run the receiver.
They'll get them on their back and run the receiver out of bounds.
He just knows how to angle guys off of routes.
Then you look at the top of the route, 183 pounds.
I'm expecting to get pushed around a little bit.
The balance and the strength at the top of the route,
bigger guys are having a harder time separating for him.
then 50-50 situations.
He's very competitive there.
He can disrupt guys getting off the line.
For a guy who's a 511-183 is absolutely an outside corner.
Now he's going to get tested in that way again.
He's got JJ Buchanan from Michigan this week.
And that's going to be another good challenge for him
as a bigger, wide receiver, and can he hold up?
I want to seem a little more consistency as a tackler,
willing, tough, got to get off blocks a little bit better,
got to be better finisher as a tackler.
one career interception.
I want to see him play the ball a little bit more.
I want to see some of that.
But this is a guy that I think is really interesting
as a day two corner.
And by the way, he was on the freaks list.
Runs really well.
Benches really well.
Jumps really well.
I mean, he's got some tools.
Very interesting prospect.
I actually have heard his name a couple times
from guys in the league of
I'm trying to think.
It was recently like maybe two weeks.
weeks ago. I don't know how good they are, but they got a cornerback who's starting to play
like a guy. Oh, he's sticky underneath, by the way, too. He changes directions well, and he has
some bursts. Like, he's not just this physical cat. I mean, he moves. I went to BYU. I'm not
going to let you have all the BYU love this week. And I, and I, I want to pronounce his name
right.
So I'm literally plugging it in now because I had to pull it up.
The linebacker, number two.
Cade is his first name.
Uluevae is what I'm going with for now until I'm corrected.
He's fun to watch.
Shades of like Bobby Okariki, Terrell Bernard, fast processing, fast on a line.
Well, so watching him, right?
He does the three things linebackers do.
A, studies tape, and you can tell he's got tendencies.
Formation tendencies where the running back lines up,
where the flat back offensive linemen pressure on his finger.
I always know it.
The guys who, everyone watches tape, who knows what they're studying tape.
And with this guy, Cade, he played three seasons at Cal,
absolute dog at Cal. He's a fourth year senior at BYU, right? He was a freshman All-American,
came up right out of the bat ready to play. He was just born to play football. He has a great
freshman year, great sophomore year at Cal also has a really good third year and then winds up
transferring, right? And with presumably the coaching change there, defensive coach is out and
let's move on. He goes to BYU. And he's picked.
Last year he had 100 tackles, man.
He led the team with 100 tackles, 12 for loss, six pass breakups.
This year already leads the team in tackles again.
He's got an interception.
He's got a handful of tackles for loss.
He's all over the place.
Ulauevaewee.
Sorry.
So the first part is he's got the tendencies.
The second part is he reads his key, but he does it so quickly.
You don't even know if he's reading it.
The third part is the ball location.
And then he has no, he's like unconscious with, I made the right read.
Because he's got, like, he's one of those guys.
He's slashing through the offensive line.
He's going, like, everyone else is still kind of like patiently.
He's just going to come and get it.
And if he doesn't get it, that's fine because he'll get it on the next down.
And I'm telling you, he's one of those guys who will, when he arrives with this closing
burst, he's got to run in the four-fives.
He's six-one.
Actually, he was pre-seasoned.
6-1-60-8,
231 pounds.
And when he gets going on a straight line,
he's fast.
And then those last three or four steps,
as all the great ones have,
he kicks it,
he's like whatever button it is now
on the Xbox PlayStation controller.
He hits it,
and he will knock your absolute ding-ling off.
Like, he's one of those knock-your-D-off guys.
Is that the technical term?
Yeah, yeah, got it.
It's not the word we all use in the film room,
but he will knock the ding-ding off of you.
you know?
Because he, like, and it's like, oh, gosh.
Yeah.
He's one of those.
Does he miss tackles?
I remember liking him last year.
He's going to miss a bunch of tackles.
Yeah, yeah.
That was the thing, man.
He's either going to knock your, knock your privates off or he's going to miss.
Right.
He's like a 19% of a miss tackle rate last year.
I got it.
He's a little bit better this year.
Oh, is he fun.
He's fun to watch.
He's going to be a starting mic.
He's going to be.
He's going to be a starting.
inside linebacker in the league. He's going to be
if he doesn't go third,
he'll go fourth. He'll probably
be like a fourth round pick, third round pick
at best, come in the league
and he's going to be starting.
Kill it on special teams, start at last.
Kill it on all. Yeah.
But so what, in that game
against Notre Dame,
and they're going to be overmatched
defensively, but they are so disciplined
and do so many things, right? They're going
to make it hard on C.J. Carr and that
offense, right? Yeah.
I think that's that.
Number four is going to be everywhere.
I hope you guys can sense how much I enjoyed watching his tape today
because Mesta Makers got awesome talent.
And I'm watching the next, like Michael Pennix and hopefully he stays healthier.
And then I'm watching the first round defensive tackle.
And they're all like deep, like hardcore study.
And now I'm watching this third, fourth round linebacker.
And it's the most fun I had all day watching.
Right.
Yeah.
I love that.
It's like, oh.
And he can cover.
He can instincts, rushing is a blitzer.
Blitzer. He's not awesome in any area, but he will knock your day.
He can rush a little bit. Yeah, he's got a little bit. He's got instincts.
Yeah. All right. Here we go.
Week seven picks, our partners, let's face it, there are OG partners, Fanduel.
They've got you covered all season long. Nationwide, FanDuel is now available everywhere.
We've been telling you for weeks. If you don't know, then you're not watching the show
or you're not listening the right way.
Fan duel is available everywhere.
So get in on the action wherever you live.
Mench, kick us off, pick three.
We do it every week.
I had a two-week run of three-leg parlay's hit.
It's the first week all season that had a losing record.
I want one and two.
The only positive from it is my two other losses sucked,
so I wasn't even close to it.
But go ahead, pick us three.
I'm realizing the red ink on my notes and printouts.
I don't have the spreads in front of it.
I'm going to tell you this.
Michigan can't break my heart again, right?
Can't break my heart again.
I think that's a seven-point game.
I, like, Penn State's on a three-game skid.
They can't stop the run.
This is why.
This is why.
I know.
Thank you for pulling that up.
Watch how quickly I'll pull this up.
Go ahead.
Three-game skid, can't run the ball, can't stop the ball.
Michigan's coming off a buy.
I know it's been in an absolute circus of a season for them.
I just like them to come out of the buy
against a Penn State team
that's, I think, essentially reeling.
And again, cannot stop the run,
cannot run the ball.
Okay, what times that game?
That game is 3.30, I believe.
3.30.
Okay. Michigan is now minus six and a half.
That's official.
What's your next game?
My next game, Oklahoma State at Houston.
Don't, listen,
people are going to think of a Mestermaker hater
and even more now.
It's not the case.
I think he's going to put out
on an absolute show against Houston.
I do.
but I think this game's going to be a track meet.
And if you have him paying attention to Houston,
Oklahoma State's getting four and a half at Houston.
Yeah, Houston's going to, I think Houston covers.
Which, by the way, I'm actually with you.
I think that's a great pick.
Fandul, these, these, these, these, the guys making these lines, man.
The ladies and gentlemen are making these lines.
Because you look at that and you're like, Oklahoma State's ranked 18.
Oklahoma State is a mess to make her.
Why, four and a half seems a little.
They're saying a neutral site, they'd still have Houston.
Yeah.
All right.
Okay.
Connor,
Conor Wigman is, you know, thrown three or more touchdowns.
And I think his last five games, one pick, and that was in the opener.
He's, you know, is he going to force me to like him?
I know.
He's also rushed for six touchdowns, by the way.
He's quietly having a great year.
He's got a great tight end.
I think that that's going to be a track meet.
I think that game, by the way,
there's going to be so many good games
and that game's on the same time
as Notre Dame BYU,
but that'll be a fun watch
because I do think that they're going to put up
a ton of points
and it's going to be a back and forth game.
I just like Houston at home,
I think they'll pull away in the end
and they'll cover that number.
And the last one is,
I know you're feeling the same way about this team.
I don't know if you're ready to go on like I am
to go this far with it, though.
I'm all in Kentucky.
with Kentucky.
And at Oklahoma,
getting,
you're getting seven point,
you send it to us.
Post game.
Not,
not,
all right,
everyone get off the field.
Come on in.
We're going to have a concert,
strobe lights.
We're embracing the sucker,
man.
I'm all in.
Will Stein,
Will Stein is,
is everything that's right about college ball.
He not only is an offensive genius
and one of the few true quarterback whispers,
he's just embracing all this.
And everyone,
I love it. That's a basketball school that's like, yeah, we can be both, bro.
I'm not buying this Oklahoma team. I feel like it was a blip. It's a really tough place to win.
I understand that. It's going to be a crazy environment, all of that stuff. Kentucky's gone to Texas
A&M and won. And Texas A&M, the wheels haven't fallen off their season at that point.
They went to South Carolina. Again, I know that these haven't been great teams. These are tough
places to play. They've played Alabama. They've had a pretty tough schedule. I'm starting to
believe, man. I think C.J. Baxter has a
not a great game, but a good
game against an Oklahoma run defense. It isn't quite
as good as it was last year.
I just think that Kentucky
could put up enough points
where Oklahoma's offense.
They need to score on defense
and they need to score on special teams. One of
those two, and I'm not sure Kentucky will
give them that. I think Kentucky finds
a way to win that game. I'll take the
points. Don't get me wrong. What time is that
game? I think it's 7.30.
Okay.
It's in here somewhere.
I can sort it by SEC, but I'm too...
It was seven when I checked last, I think.
Okay, so about a touchdown.
Okay, gotcha.
It's six and a half now.
Oklahoma's six and a half.
So they're hearing what you're saying already,
and we're taping this hours before it runs.
All right, we've gone too long.
Missouri plus six and a half.
I've been riding this Missouri wave,
and it's been working,
and I'm sticking with it.
Strongest reason.
I thought like this Jamal Roberts against that old miss tackling
you know I love me some Trinidad Chambliss
I think he'll find a way to win
I think he's like every other game that he like most other games this year
he's going to have to he's going to have to play great
and it's going to be some kind of shootout fight
give me give me the six and a half
seems like a big number to me too
Utah you know I've been very quietly
sneaking around the chicken coop with this Utah team.
I refuse to bring too much attention to it
because I feel like every time I do that,
something bad happens to the team.
So I'm just going to quietly whisper into this mic.
I've been telling you for four weeks now,
Utah is a damn good football team.
And I'm willing to give the 15 and a half, okay?
I'm getting the 15 and a half at Colorado.
Don't hate it.
And finally,
this one, because I can't stand this pick so much,
it's probably the one that I believe in the most.
Indiana plus just three and a half points, Ohio State.
This is so weird,
because I feel like you don't go near these marquee, like,
four versus, like, that's not you.
So something has got your attention.
The radar, something's caught your attention.
The line.
The line caught my attention because nothing in the world that we have seen,
not a single quarter of play has shown me that Indian is nearly as good as the team from a year ago
or that Indian is nearly as good as the Ohio State team.
It's about to go play.
Nothing.
Literally nothing.
They're good.
Northwestern was tight.
Nebraska was tight.
And Northwest is a good team.
And Nebraska is a good team.
But it's a home game.
That's not even why.
It's just honestly because Signetti, I believe in Signetti,
and I think if there's anyone able to keep this to three points
or to pull it off outright, it's Signetti with like what he's building,
what he's built there and still building,
I just, the line stinks.
It's so lopsided in the tape and everything I've watched so far
that I think Signetti's going to pull something out of his hat this week.
One area, one area that.
that I think Indiana has a significant advantage to keep an eye on
is the pass rush versus that Ohio State offensive line.
And keep an eye on it.
That could be a real difference in this game.
And they will play enough confusing coverages
and do enough things different than what's saying.
I'm not saying they're going to confuse saying,
but what I am saying is that it will be a different picture
than he's used to,
and that quarter count could lead to some opportunity.
All right, here's the deal.
It doesn't matter if you're in Alabama, South Carolina.
Texas, California, Georgia.
Fan Duel is there.
That's right.
Fan Duel is nationwide
this football season.
So go get in on the action.
Mench.
Always fun.
Always too long, but always fun.
Five stars.
Thanks, man.
