The Jets canceled David Bailey's 30 visit, and a day I've been waiting for for over 20 years.
Munch's mock!
That's right.
Munches Mock 1.0.
Just six days until the NFL draft.
I can tell by the smile, but I'll ask you anyway.
You good, Munch?
I'm good, man.
I can roll my favorite beat.
This is your first mock draft ever.
Yeah, I've done plenty of second round moks, but never a first round mcks.
Oh, I know you have, and you've bitched every single fitched every single.
Thursday night of the draft.
Up till three or four in the morning.
You got to go and roll out and get it.
For a mock that lasts like eight hours.
It did not have much of shelf life.
Thanks, man.
We'll get to that to it. We'll get to it in a minute.
You're listening to the McShea Show presented by Fanduel,
and soon we'll all be listening to all the names called in this year's NFL draft.
But with Fandual, you don't have to just listen because Fandul has all kinds of bets
on where players will land.
You know I love this stuff.
Not only can you bet on.
on who will be drafted first overall,
but you can also bet on whether a player will go in the top five,
top 10, and so much more.
So if you don't already have it,
be sure to download the Fandual Sportsbook app today.

David Bailey's 30 visit.
What does it mean?
Makes sense of it.
Canceled.
So I hear the information last night, and I'm finishing.
We're typing up all of these team strategies with our team needs.
And if you haven't checked it out, it's in the McShea report.
Mention and I are collaborating to give you a breakdown.
First of all, we did a third round mock draft.
So we have three round mock draft for each of the NFL teams.
Go to the ringer.com slash McShay right now.
You can click on there and go to the McShay report.
If you're not subscribed, subscribe.
And you're going to get a breakdown for each of the NFL teams.
Honestly, print it out.
If you're like me, if you're an old man, you print things out.
If not, put it on your phone.
But it's like a little, I hate to say Bible.
It's a little glossary for you to go into the draft with for each NFL team.
And we kind of got into our strategies.
Like, how would we approach this if we were managing the draft?
So kind of, I think it's pretty cool stuff.
Great exercise.
So, and you can also get Mention's mock draft there, right?
But I'm working on that project last night.
And I think I saw on social media.
Yeah, I saw on social media that it was canceled.
And I was like, huh.
Now I got to thinking, I don't know that I've ever heard this in 26 years of covering an NFL
draft, like right before the meeting was canceled.
canceled. Is there something to this?
So I think, I thought
the same thing. I was like, I don't remember this ever
happening. I was like, am I missing something?
So you always want to look back and
say, this has happened before, what did
it mean? Right. I'm not sure there's a precedent
here. Lazzang surgellied,

So I sent out a text
and the answer
I got back was
we canceled the meeting.
And I was like,
okay.
Uh-huh.
And,
so, then I sent a follow-up
text of kind of like just shot across the but not like tell me what you know but like kind of
created a stir here what's up and crickets i've asked around different place like i don't think we need to
read into they canceled it because they don't want they didn't want to uh there's two two ways to
to take this news right one is they've made the decision and why make them travel six days before the
draft, they've decided.
The other is,
and that would be a positive way.
You know, he'll be right back out here in six days.
The other one is, doesn't feel right to bring him out here.
We've already decided we're going with R.Vell Reese.
Could be either.
Right.
All reports are like, don't read into it.
We had a great time, you know, we met with them in detail.
We set the brass down to Lubbock, Texas at the pro day.
We, you know, kind of checked all the,
the box. But then I asked myself, something doesn't feel right. And then I ask myself a couple
questions. Why would you schedule it to begin with if you were going to cancel it? And if the answer
to that is, well, we decided we're going to take him, then I'm like, and I said this. I found
out Brian Grease is working with Fernando Mendoza. You get an opportunity to fly him in. And
points and to spend time with them and like yeah you're a defensive end we don't have to
scheme this thing up but like let's get to know you more let's let's talk about like what
we're doing what are you comfortable like we're about to invest 50 40 something million dollars
in you in the next four years on a rookie contract let's why wouldn't we take more time right
so there's that so i went back to the conversation i had with the intel source whatever
And this was over the weekend.
And I told you about it on the show.
And I'm not, it's here's where the Jets are.
And this was over the weekend.
But also the Jets, from my understanding, from the source,
the Jets still had meetings.
And they, like, you know, they did one side of the ball,
coming back to the other side of the balls,
finish, just like a lot of teams, medicals.
And what I was left with was a strong feeling.
David Bailey's the guy.
And then I also, like, I'm not ignorant, like the TV's on downstairs.
And I see like Schrager and other people, like, you know, like Bailey's the guy.
And so that checks, that lines up.
So it's like on to pick three.
But the quote I'll give you, Mench, that makes now with this information, and I'm not,
I don't have anything more than this.
I'll have a bunch of calls lined up this weekend, starting today, actually.
And then Saturday and then Sunday,
I've got one call when we land.
And I don't know that that will provide the answer to pick number two.
But my information is, it boils down to this.
The head coach is the defensive coordinator.
And previous information I'd gotten around the combine that I'd shared with you
was not necessarily, it's not specific to the Jets.
Multiple people I talked to were like, it comes down to man.
like Arvel Reese's upside is like,
if you're watching on Netflix, you can see.
If you're watching on Spotify, you can see.
If you're listening to radio, I'm saying the upside's a little higher
for Arvel Reese if you hit.
But you know you got this, just shy of that with Bailey already.
The difference is Arvel Reese is a better football player.
Every down.
Wrong shoulder and taking on blocks.
like better tackle or more explosive like he just is okay and so the the the kind of consensus
I got from talking to people in the league who are making these decisions is I got to make
like damn sure my defensive coordinator and in this case it's the head coach and Aaron Glenn
has a plan and like like sees it very clearly has a history with this or like wants to do
this and has a very specific detailed plan of how we're going to get the most out of him.
Because if not, and if it doesn't work, I got an off-the-ball linebacker's pretty damn good,
but can't really turn and run and cover the way I would want a top 10 pick it off-ball
linebacker.
That's a fact.
Yep.
Sonny Stiles is the turn-and-cover guy, okay?
So that's, and then, so fast forward to this weekend, it was everything I
felt from the conversation was Bailey, right?
Mm-hmm.
And I don't want this to, because I know this time of year things get taken the wrong
way.
I'm going to pair, I'm not even going to paraphrase.
I'm going to give you the feel that I got.
It didn't feel like Aaron Glenn had made that, or maybe he was kind of, or maybe it was
organization, but coach.
Right.
I don't know, so I can't share exactly, but what I can share with you is it wasn't stamped,
and I shared that with you on Monday, and two, something about Aaron Glenn.
So, that's what we're on?
Interesting.
Yeah.
You know, one of the things that's interesting to me about this is I understand that Arvel Reese has a unique ceiling.
I get that.
But I think that it's important, put it in the right perspective that David Bailey had a great combine workout.
and he's still got some,
I think he's still got some room to grow
that he hasn't reached his, you know,
absolute upside yet too.
It's just that Reese is on a different level.
And it's easy to say,
well, this guy is the upside guy.
This guy's the polished guy.
David Bailey's got a lot of tools, man.
He's a longer guy.
He's thicker right now.
He doesn't run as well,
but he runs really well.
He's a good player.
To me,
going along in the process,
and I hate this week,
you're so close and you're starting to second guess and there's so much information
you know in my mind going through the process of going through a mock draft i was like i don't know
i would almost as a gm feel more comfortable taking bailey if i'm the gm and i love arvel
reese but like for all of those reasons a little bit bigger a little bit longer a little more
polished and yes not quite the upside but still got some pretty damn good tools
can i share this with you yeah
if my if I'm the general manager and the coordinator says I've got a I've got a plan for him and this is going to work I would take Arvel Reese well I think you got a I mean that's a big gift that's the family aspect of this situation that you you have to come to a decision together and you know if you were the head coach and I was the GM and I came and he said look I like Bailey and I think we should take bail and you're like look I really love Reese and I'm saying okay you know I get it and you know I get it and you
you put it behind you and no one ever else knows about that conversation between the two of us.
But, you know, I get it as a coach why you might.
It's a classic situation.
As a coach, you see tools and you see upside.
You want to get your hands on that.
And as a GM, you see floor.
And that's what you like.
You know what I mean?
And that's the tricky part because if Moji really likes,
thinks that Bailey's the guy,
but the guy who's going to be cooking the meal is,
You know, and, but like, but I also, like, I think the GM might, there's a, there's a chance.
And I'm not trying to get into trouble, but like, there's a chance.
The GM's there longer.
Yeah.
Longer than the head coach.
Yeah, and that's his job.
That's his livelihood.
I get all that.
And I'm an Aaron Glenn guy.
Like, I have close ties with Detroit and like everything about Aaron Glenn is, is awesome.
Like, you know, but it didn't go real well last year.
So I'm just saying like the first one to go in this relationship,
especially what I know about the general manager with ownership.
Yep.
First one to go is going to be AG.
Okay.
Right.
Promise you.
I will say this.
I think the GM is there more.
So as the GM, if he's cooking the ingredients,
but maybe we wind up with the new chef,
don't I want to make sure.
I don't know.
And I don't want anyone to watch this and think,
well, McShay is telling you.
something he's cryptically, I'm not.
I'm telling you, my information was it has not been decided as of Sunday.
It is Bailey and Reese.
Then the inference I got from that conversation was kind of feel like they're leaning Bailey.
Right.
But there was this Aaron Glenn element that I didn't know whether Aaron was pro Bailey or pro
Reese. I'm just telling you
it was something I didn't want to
dig a whole lot deeper on
the conversation it hit it. I
got more than I thought so like
I left it.
But there was an
AG element of it that I don't know
if it was pro one way or pro the other.
And now we have this information
which could be pro Bailey or
pro Reese. If nothing else, we
got drama. Because I thought the draft
started at three as of
24 hours ago and it may still.
but it may not.
You know?
Right.
I think the GM is there
to protect the coach
from making a bad pick.
If you both have them
in the top four or five picks
and you think both of them
are really good players,
then you go with the guy
that coach likes.
I think that's...
Yeah, totally.
Totally.
Totally.
Totally.
So I don't know,
which is fascinating.
It's going to be a fun week
and I can't wait.
And we're going to be in L.A.
on Sunday and,
hey, remind everyone,
Netflix, Netflix, Netflix.
I still can't believe you did it.
Netflix, freaking Netflix.
Netflix, Thursday night, live NFL draft show,
texting with GMs, getting information.
You can go watch the first pick and we get 90 seconds
and we're going to B-roll and then we're going to be roll
and then I've got a strong opinion.
No, I got a strong opinion with the National Football League.
Or you can watch two dudes that are probably more in the nudge.
and are absolutely dialed in and have watched every bit of tape and actually have
and are going to have a lot of fun doing it.
And we're going to be live on Netflix.
So that's my pitch.
There's also the high drama of whether or not one of us will have to go to the bathroom
during one of these rounds.
We've set the bar high last year.
And I think we did to not know bathroom bricks.
It's a thing now.
Eight minute picks in the first round now.
It's good news for us.
Speaking of the first round.
You my phrase, Netflix is Thursday night and Friday night live.
Saturday we're going to wind up doing a kind of a recap probably.
Saturday we're going to have a show.
I think the two, I know the live shows are Thursday night for the first round.
And then day two, if you will, Friday night for rounds two and three.
And then we'll have a show for you recapping on Saturday.
We do our big review for all 32 teams on Sunday.
And then we're going to tape away to our last.
mock draft, which for the first time
in about 20 years of
doing this nonsense, I'm
actually excited for.
Because the 2027
NFL draft is going to be
absolutely spectacular.

Your mock draft.
Your first ever.
Yeah.
Chalk at one.
Oh, no, whoa.
Let's start.
You know how much of a contrarian I am.
I was like, what if I'm just like,
you know what they got Kirk Cousins?
Let's go in another direction here.
And I was like, dude, slow down.
Slow down.
So the mensch mock, which I love the ring to it, the mensmock is driven by what Steve thinks that team should do.
I think this is the smart play.
Mensh is going in like, this is what teams should do.
Armed with the proper board, armed with enough information.
And it's not that he's like diverging from all that.
But like, all right, here are the reasonable picks that they could go with.
This, like, I'm telling you.
they should go here.
And I'm going to bring this with us.
You son of a bitch,
I bet you this winds up being more accurate than all the other ones.
I'm telling you,
because it's like sometimes we get so caught up and I'm hearing him.
All of a sudden I go from studying tape
and 26 years of a football evaluation,
my whole life in this game.
And I know what I know.
And I've refined it and crafted it.
But now I've become this like sneaky reporter talking to people
and not sharing information so I can keep these relations.
And it's like, what am I doing?
Yeah.
I always said it should be Schefter and God bless, God rest his soul, Chris Mortensen.
They should have been here in the mock.
But anyway, so I'm pumped about this mock draft.
You got, let's just rip off the top five and I want to kind of ask you some questions or you just chime in.
Fernando Mendoza, you've got going to the Raiders.
Jets, you've got David Bailey.
And I won't even say still because this is your mock draft.
This is what they should do.
And you just kind of explain that why.
Arizona is interesting to me.
We'll come back to this.
They're taking Francis Maui Noah at three.
Sunny Style, hold on.
Jeremiah at four.
Jeremiah Love for Tennessee.
Sunny Styles at five.
Okay.
Take me wherever you want to go.
This is your mock.
There are some picks I really love in this mock.
There are two in the top five that I struggled with.
I mean, let's start with Maui Noah going to Arizona.
I get the need for an edge.
I get that Arvill Reese.
is there. What are we doing? He's a much better value. I understand that. Arvel Reese is a much
higher ranked player on my board. I just believe in building your offensive line and they need a right
tackle and the right tackle. In this process, all the seven tackles went off the board for me.
I believe that seven offensive tackles come off the board. I don't think you're getting your
right tackle if you don't take him right now. In a perfect world, you trade back and you get this guy
a little bit later and you get more value, pick up an asset. I understand all that. But if you're
stuck there.
If you have to stick and pick,
I like Maui Noah.
I think he's a right tackle.
If you think he's a guard,
this is a bad pick.
I think he's a right tackle.
So that's kind of what my thinking was.
Now, Jeremiah,
I love at Tennessee,
man, that one I've had to sit with for a little bit,
and I just love the player.
Tennessee had the third fewest carries last year.
Pollard's a pretty good back.
I like Pollard.
He's a good back.
They need to make him a number two.
They got to really stay committed to the running game.
Tys Jersers,
St. Spears has been banged up.
They need a change-paced guy.
At the very least, I think you bring in love,
you move Pollard to that second spot.
But running back at four, as we get closer,
especially with edges on the board,
and they need an edge.
Running back at four is really starting to,
I'm really starting to second-guess it again, man,
because it's just the history,
I don't know, the positional value.
As much as I love, Jeremy, I love,
and I see it working,
that's a pick that I might look back
to be like, what was that doing?
But it's a player.
You fall in love with the player.
I'm starting to wonder if Borgonzi's going to do it.
Yeah, it's a tough one, man.
Because I'm starting to hear, like, if we talked ourselves into it,
I feel like we've kind of talked ourselves into it because we love the players so much.
And there, some people don't think there's a need of running back.
I absolutely think there's a need of running back.
Here's what I keep going back to.
Because you get too strong, you've got too strong person.
These are not meek men.
Robert Sal is not a meek.
man. Brian Daibold, the offensive coordinator, is not a meek man. And they both want something,
but collectively they want something larger, right? Yeah.
There's three names that are, so like on one side, it's like if Arvel Reese were to fall or
David Bailey were to fall in this scenario. Yeah. It's easier to push for what I, for the edge
Russia, right?
Uh-huh.
Okay.
But there's also a scenario where Bailey goes two and Reese goes three.
And so then even in that scenario, you got this one guy, Brian Daibald, and this other guy, Robert
Sala, both recent head coaches, both recent fired head coaches, both recent fired head coaches, both
recent fired head coaches because their offenses sucked.
Truly.
I mean, the one thing, and we talked about, like, yeah, like, yes, Daniel Jones and all the reasons.
And, and, and, and, Debo's, you know I hold them in very high regard as a quarterback developer and an offensive mind.
One of the top guys in the league, in my opinion, okay?
However, the offense didn't work.
And Salah's offense didn't work.
And so, like, to be a fly in that wall where it's like, Debo's like, like, you're going to take it.
You want to take an off ball linebacker?
You're, like, you're complaining about running back.
When I'm on an off a ball linebacker?
Like, you just got fucking fired, man.
You just got fucking fired because you're off.
You're going to do this again?
You want to do this again.
And then, and Sal was like, I need pass rushers.
I'm looking at Fred Warner.
You know what Fred Warner did?
You know what our defenses did in San Francisco?
Yeah.
You understand?
Like, that was the base, like, that's what create.
And then, and I'm more, I'm Mike Borganzi.
we grew up near here in Massachusetts.
We're all kind of animals,
and he's not a meek personality either.
No.
And he's probably like,
I'm telling you,
this guy's a fucking better player than him.
But if you're telling me as a head coach,
we got to have Fred Warner for this thing to work.
You know, like,
and so there's got to be a lot.
But I'm starting to get information.
It might be a defensive player.
But I don't know if I trust that information.
You say Fred Warner.
You talk about Sunny Stiles?
Yes.
Yeah.
For that scheme, that role within that scheme, how important was Fred Warner for that scheme?
Oh, yeah.
I mean, it's insane.
Yeah.
So, I don't know.
That one's interesting.
I thought we kind of were starting to figure out this, like, how things are going to roll.
It was going to be an easy Tuesday night as I kind of prepared this mock draft.
It might be.
It's going to be a fun weekend talking to people.
All right, so Sunny Stiles, then five, I think that's the pick if he's there.
I think Downs is the pick.
Go ahead.
They got to improve the run defense, right?
And that's what I've been saying myself.
And I'm like, oh, they just don't have a defensive tackle there.
But the run defense is atrocious.
You got Tramon Edmonds.
It's not a huge contract.
It's an okay contract for him.
Bring in Sunny Stiles, find a way to make that run defense better, even if it's not a defensive tackle.
All right, take us through picks six through 10.
Six, we got a, we got a trade.
The Brown trade back, Miami trades up, and Miami gets Arvel Reese there.
Then we got the commanders take.
What did the Browns or the, would they give up?
Yeah.
The Miami trades, or what Miami gave up, trades 11, 75 and 90.
Now mind you, Miami has four third round picks.
Four, yeah.
And they're loaded.
But they've got like four starters on their team.
I understand.
And I get that.
And I considered that.
But I still think they can get a lot of good value.
And giving up two thirds to go get at R.
Val Reese.
I want to get into this pick in a second.
So I'll just,
I'll just say really quickly.
At seven,
the commanders take Ohio Statewide receiver,
Cornell Tate,
eight,
the Saints get Montserie de Lane the corner from LISU.
That could happen, by the way.
That could actually happen.
Commanders.
The other ones can't actually have.
happen.
Arvel Reese going to the Miami Dolphins at six is like,
hey, Tucker, ask
Fandole's odds are on that.
You get four million to one.
I like that pick, though.
All right, go ahead.
All right.
So we got, you just take a pot shots, but that's fine.
Jordan Tyson, nine, the Chiefs.
And then the Bengals take,
the Bengals take Caleb Downs at 10.
I'm sweating.
You've been doing this to me for years.
I know.
I know.
I knew this day was coming.
I spent six to eight hours, make phone calls and put together,
and you just sit there like, yeah, send it to me.
I'll read it.
This pick sucks.
Let's do a show.
I don't like this pick.
He's going to say, nobody.
So what?
I mean.
Arvel Reese, if somehow he gets a six, everyone in the world is calling,
is calling to say if we can get up.
Of course.
And the Browns are going to be willing to trade back unless they're taking take.
Because if you want Carnal Tate and you're the Browns,
I think you've got to take in there.
Even if you think it's,
a little bit of reach because there is no, he's not going to last long.
I think the Saints would take him.
I think the Chiefs would take him.
I think there's going to be two receivers going on the top 10 based on what I'm looking at in this scenario.
So that being said, if they're thinking offensive tackle and they're willing to trade back, Miami.
And the reason I like this is think about Jeff Halfley and what he had at Green Bay.
Who do you have in Green Bay?
Who do you love in Green Bay, Micah Parsons?
He loved the Michael Parsons.
He talks about how Michael Parsons is going to come back from the knee injury and break the sack record next year.
He knows what to do with an R.
R. Vell Reese.
You want to talk about having a plan and understanding the players, but yes, yes.
You just told me that you have to have a plan, but apparently everyone does.
Don't start turning it around now that I'm making a pick.
From Micah Parsons, everyone has a plan.
But we didn't think, be honest, we liked Micah Parsons coming out of Penn State.
Did you think he was going to be what he turned into?
I mean, that was optimistic, but you didn't, I mean.
No, not quite.
I thought he was absolutely special, though.
But yes, yes, yes.
Yes.
And you weren't 12, but yeah.
Right.
So you get my point.
You understand what I'm saying.
I do.
So, yeah.
Why?
Can I ask questions now?
Yeah, good.
Good.
You act like, this is what you do.
You just filibuster.
I thought I was going to just talk out the clock.
I like the Washington pick.
I actually, I think that that's like, that's a possibility.
Right.
But if, because I, because here's what I think.
I think the Giants are going to go defense.
I think it's six.
If they stick, it could be Cardinal Tate, but it's not going to be.
It's going to be an offensive tackle, right?
I agree.
And I think if a team trades up, which I continue to hear a lot about Dallas,
that flip-flop, because Cleveland can move back and it won't be Maui No one.
It might not be Fano.
Excuse me.
But I've told you now for over a month, there's a link to Cleveland and Caden Proctor.
Yeah.
Right.
From the Alabama offensive tackle.
So regardless, Cardinal Tate, there's a good chance.
Now, I mean, I just hear so much.
I have to block some of it out.
Carnel Tate, there's a good chance of sitting on the board at seven.
That would make all the sense in the world to me, man.
Yeah.
Like, like, Debo's...
Desperately need a receiver.
They desperately need a receiver.
We've gone through that.
The Saints is interesting because I love that fit,
and I've explained that recently.
Like the two things that you need for your defensive coordinator,
Brendan Staley, is you've got to have guys that explode off the style.
Like get off, take off, like Joe Cullen, get off, take off, get off, get off, you know?
Like you need a guy who, and whether it's Bosa or Tully or or Khalil Mack or Floyd or even last year Chase Young.
Like he's had those guys and he gets the best out of those guys.
but he also needs corners that can man zone match
like that the match part of it
like the zone to match receivers
and the smarts to play that critical
and like Delane is like Taylor
so I don't dislike that pick
I'm actually just bringing this up
because I think Saints are one of the most fascinating teams
in the top 10 because they legitimately
could have Ruben Bain, Monsour Delane
Jordan Titans,
all sitting there and you got Shuck
who needs a target opposite Chris Olabe
because that don't look good.
What's beyond Oliva?
You need an edge rusher to fit that scheme
that I just told you about
and you need a cornerback to fit that scheme.
And all three dudes are sitting there
and you're like, can I take them all?
Yeah.
What do they do?
That's going to be a fascinating pick.
Right?
I agree.
Yeah.
In Kansas City,
So you, Mench, when we talked the other day,
we're really hell-bent on offensive tackle for them.
They get one later on.
My intel is, yeah, you gave him one in this,
but what if I were to tell you that the seven offensive tackles
are going to be gone by pick 20.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
When is Kansas City,
Kansas City is 29.
29? Yeah, 29.
Yeah.
I think they're going to be.
All gone by 29.
Interesting.
I think so.
I think Sam Fran is going to be Lomu.
I think,
Ian Nachor is going to go before that.
Proctor's going to go no later than 17.
It was 16 to,
16 or 17 Detroit?
17.
17.
Yeah, 16 is the Jets.
Blake Miller.
got to go to the lions, by the way.
I think we both have that in our latest mock.
He's just Blake Miller is like...
He's so lions.
It's just glass eater.
Does that change your mind?
And we're just talking through.
Does that change your mind here?
So, because can you live with your offensive tackles
knowing that I can maybe get one in the third
that you can try to develop, but that's what we're going to have to live with what we got.
I'm going to be up front about this.
This might be the, and I'm not saying it's one of the weakest rosters in the league.
this might be the weakest Chiefs roster I've seen in a long time
and going through this and being like, oh my, like they, they have,
they have some real needs here.
They have some real needs.
They deserve to be sitting at nine.
Yeah.
So if this was a normal Chiefs team that is, you know,
had to do some cosmetic work in the draft and everything was going to be okay,
I would advocate for the offensive tackle.
Now a couple days after doing this and sitting here,
I'm still terrified by the offensive tackle situation,
but man, they got to get a corner.
They better get a wide receiver.
I think they better get an edge.
I mean, they've got no one other than George Carl Loftus,
and he had six acts last year.
They have some real needs.
They have four pretty sizable needs that you just mentioned.
Yeah.
And I would, you know,
it's interesting that they haven't addressed some of those in free agency,
and it's going to be interesting what they can do in the secondary market,
when guys started getting cut and released and who you can bring in.
They're going to do all of that stuff, I understand.
But, I mean, it was eye-opening.
I think they think they got a pretty good corner of Noel Williams,
but they got to get another starter.
I think they might have to get a nickel.
I mean, there are as much as I want to advocate for getting that offensive tackle,
because again, Josh Simmons missed nine games last year.
Their right tackle, I think, has never started more than six games in a season.
Their number three tackles coming off a knee injury.
I mean, it's scary there.
But then you're looking at unique guys who you're hoping that that's able to stick together.
You're hoping that that doesn't come apart at the seams.
There are other positions you're like, we need a guy.
Like we don't, we need a player to contribute now.
Did you think about it 12?
Why don't you rip through the 11 through 15?
And then I'm 11.
The Browns who had traded back.
Get Utah offensive tackle.
Spencer Fano there.
12.
The Cowboys get your Markoy, the corner from Tennessee, which was a tough one for me.
But I like the player.
And I think they have a need.
The Rams is chalk.
McCoy Lemon.
I mean, it just makes a lot of sense to me out of USC, the wide receiver.
Ruben Bain falls to the Ravens at 14.
and I think they're ecstatic.
And then a 15,
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
two Miami-ed rushers go in a row,
get a Keem Messador.
Yeah, I like that.
Bain to 14,
like that doesn't shy.
I actually had that in my mock draft.
Yeah.
The question I would ask is,
I mean, it just comes down to medical with each team.
Like, if McCoy goes there,
it's because Dallas feels good about it.
I just keep hearing McCoy is like,
I don't know.
I'm worried about it.
in my notes about it
I talk about it
and I talk about
the medical is going to be a big deal here
I get it
but this is a monster need
and in terms of the tape
and the talent
he's worth the 12th pick
I don't have the other information
in front of me
and I know you're hearing things
I just don't know what Dallas is thinking
yeah
I like Pittsburgh trading up
for an offensive tackle
it wouldn't shock me if the Eagles did
too or
you know
Lane John
Johnson in the foot injury last year.
That makes sense.
Yeah, I think that that's a priority.
I'll be, it would have to fall a weird way for the egos not to exit round one with an offensive tackle.
Really?
Really?
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
I like Sadeek going 19 to Carolina.
You get Dylan Thineman to Minnesota.
No wide receiver to Minnesota instead of, you went back with the chalk.
Why would you choose Thinemindon to Minnesota?
I like the player so much and I think it's a bigger need.
You still have Addison, you still have Jordan Jefferson.
I get it.
They do need another receiver.
I think they take one at some point.
And I actually love, I think you had Boston going there from Denzel Boston from Washington.
I love that pick.
I think it's a great pick.
I just think Dylan Thineman were at the time of his draft cycle where people are like,
well, maybe he's not as good as we thought he is.
I just think Brian Flores getting a versatile safety with that.
kind of upside and having the need, you take them.
And even Harrison Smith comes back for one more year.
Season low tackles last year, it's going to be a one-year thing.
I think you pulled the trigger on the Enemann.
I like a lot.
I like that Zion Young's in here, even though he probably won't go, but I would do it.
I like, I like, go ahead.
Dallas getting Keldrick Falk at 20, I'm absolutely in love with because of the versatility
and what they want to do with their fronts.
I think that's a home run for them.
And it makes it okay.
And you can't look at this,
and I didn't look at it that way.
It's just kind of the way the board fell.
But I was at 12 thinking, man, Ruben Bain,
do you really pass on Ruben Bain here?
Yeah.
And if you know, insinuating.
Yeah, if you're going to get Falka 20,
you feel better about it.
Now you don't do a mock like that,
but this is the way it played out.
I'm glad you got Chris Johnson in there,
Caden McDonald.
These are our guys.
Gabe Accus, 32.
That's you throwing an olive branch my way.
Here's my only question for you.
This is your mock, Munch.
Yep.
This is the Mench Munch.
What I do, what I forget.
You didn't forget anything.
You're allowing Venga, you want a offensive guard from state, to get to 22.
And not only that, here's what's interesting to me.
And this is why these things are a great exercise,
because you can love a player and you can do all these things.
and it's always where are they going to go.
I'm not sure the Chargers are going to value them
as high as other teams are.
They got Mike McDaniel coming in.
They got that wide zone scheme.
Joe Ortiz,
the general manager,
has been talking since the combine about we want to get athletic.
Who did you give to Baltimore?
Who did I give to Baltimore?
I gave Ruben Bain.
Yeah,
I hear you know.
It's just the way it's just the way it all kind of falls.
Now,
I think I ended up giving Buffalo a guard
because I think that's a pressing need for them.
They got to replace David,
words.
So you ended up giving them a guard and that could be,
but that's late.
That's late.
Yeah.
Everyone I talked to in the league is like,
he's a safe,
safest offensive lineman.
And Tyler Booker went 12 last year.
Someone's just going to.
Yeah.
And be like,
all right,
I'll see you tomorrow night,
guys.
We got a starting guard.
Yeah,
and I know,
like,
we're not having a parade outside the facility,
but like,
we just got,
No confetti, but yeah.
No.
This is awesome, man.
The ringer.com slash McShay.
Go read this thing.
This is Mench's first mock ever.
20 plus years of grinding it.
And he finally gets a mock.
So you better damn read it.
Go learn a couple things.
Yeah?
Yeah.
I don't know if you know this.
You've been doing it for a long time.
I still don't know if you know this rule.
But you're not allowed to draft the same player twice in the first round.
The first mock I said to Dan, Dan's like, hey man, it looks pretty good.
I get a text at 2 o'clock.
He's on the west.
I'm on the East Coast.
I get a text at 2 o'clock.
You drafted Bain twice.
You can't take Bain Jr. twice.
I have done it.
I've done that.
And then it's a waterfall.
I've done the opposite.
I've not drafted like a top because I scratched them off on my board.
Yep.
Because of course I'm an old man and I'm just, I print out my board and I print out the needs.
and I get my charts.
And I've left out like the fifth or six best player in the draft because I went to
give it to him to someone.
And then I like editor like Ben Arledge from ESPN like bro.
Yeah.
You left out, you left out Calvin Johnson.
I assume you didn't hear so.
No, it was more like, I assume are you hearing something on Calvin Johnson?
You know?
They're like trying to be nice about it.
Yeah.
So I've done it all.
It's good to see you get some, get some, get some scars.
This is awesome.
Thanks, man.
All right, so we, yeah, next week's huge.
Next time we see you, we're going to be in L.A.
I know.
Yeah.
I guess I'm packing to do, some printing.
I know.
I guess some notebooks to print.
All you got to do is charge the iPad.
You're fine.
But yeah, so Sunday night, look for it.
It's going to be our buzz show.
Pack a printer, Tucker said.
No, you said there's a printer in the studio.
Don't mess with me.
I can't wait.
Yeah, so Monday night, we have a buzz show from L.A.
I don't know how we got to six days before the draft, but it's here, man.
It's here.
So check it out Sunday night.
And then if you don't get through it Sunday night, Monday, it'll be waiting for you when you get up.
But our buzz show from all the conversations we're having, we'll kind of break down where we are.
All week long, we have shows from out in L.A.
And don't forget, Netflix, Thursday night, Friday night, live.
I'm pumped, man.
Yeah, it's going to be great.
All right. Five stars, Munch.
Five stars on your first.
The Mench Mock 1.0, and I don't mean like 1.0, like 1.0.
Yeah, I can't wait to see the bump in subscriptions.
But thanks, ma'am.
