It's a meat eater podcast.
Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins.
I am not Spencer Newhart.
Instead, I'm your guest host, Dr. Randall Williams.
Today we're joined by Brody, Seth, Nate, Max, Alyssa, and Sarah.
Now, as you know, this is a 10-round quiz show with questions from meat eaters for verticals,
which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking.
and there is a prize.
Mediaator will donate $500 to the conservation organization of the winner's choosing.
Now, my stat of the week this week no longer applies because it was about an NBA playoff game from Wednesday, but this is Friday now.
My infrequently asked question segment also doesn't apply, so I'll just ask, how's everybody doing?
We're doing well.
Good.
So good.
It's Friday.
Happy it's Friday.
Oh, lovely.
Brody, how are you?
That's great.
That's great.
complain. How are you? I'm doing okay. It's sort of been a chaotic week. Why is that? Just a lot of scheduling
changes, you know, problems at home. Do you want to talk about them? Nope, don't want to talk about them.
Got problems with the old lady or what? No, no. Making it sound like a domestic issue. Yeah.
Sounds like you. Can we talk about your chicken? Hurt up or something? Homeowner. Homeowner issues.
I really don't want to get into the specifics of it. I don't know why I brought that up at all.
Now.
I don't have a Sydney index for today.
Because you guys are fighting, right?
Because she doesn't live with Randolph.
Yeah, this is all really good.
We shouldn't joke about this stuff.
This is going really poorly.
We shouldn't joke about this stuff.
No, she actually, in fact, helped me come up with some of these questions.
So I thought it would be inappropriate to index this game off of her knowledge.
So I have a Christian Hughes index, the first in the very history of this program.
And he got six questions right.
Who's that?
He's my best friend since childhood.
Great.
Ooh, I like that you're introducing a non-spousal index.
Yeah, I think it's long overdue.
I think this program has gotten stale over the years.
Spencer's very committed to his bits, so why not mix it up a little while he's on vacation?
Can you let us know what Christian's background is?
He's a chemical salesman.
How smart is he?
He's been referenced on this program before in the context of a lot of his guns being stolen
and the amount of guns that he buys.
He's your counterpart.
He used to work at a fly shop.
Yep.
What's his A.C.T.
Wow, I can't talk.
What's your A.
I don't know.
What kind of chemicals?
I got a 28, thank you very much.
He sells all kinds of chemicals.
Yeah.
Like agriculture or...
Very basic stuff.
I think we've lost the listeners.
Yeah.
Let's get back to it.
So why don't we get to question one here, Phil?
Why don't you play the drop?
Oh, yeah, dude.
Look, I need to know what I should have been.
Okay, we're back on track.
now.
Focus.
Just tend to and everything.
Question one, as always,
is multiple choice.
This question falls under the category of
shooting stuff.
How many inches to the
nearest 10th is one
mill at 100 yards?
Is it 3.0,
3.3,
3.6,
or 3.9?
Again, the question is...
How many inches to the nearest 10th is one mill at 100 yards?
Boy, the rudimentel stumped, Seth's writing something down.
How do you feel about that?
I should know this.
We'll all know a lot about it once I get done with the flavor test.
Because I use mills.
You do?
Yeah.
Why do you use mills over?
Emrad's different, right?
I like it better.
Is that different?
No, it's a mill.
A mill is a milleradian.
Yeah.
Man, they're on a hints.
Really?
Yeah
How many inches in the ears?
That's 1,000,000 are.
Your options are 3.0, 3.3, 3.6, or 3.9.
Interesting.
Max is carrying the 2.
I'm actually putting something that's not on the board.
Sarah, do you have an answer?
I have an answer, yeah.
Okay.
The double-sided whiteboard is always the.
me off.
Brody's doing his
corrections here.
It's a great question.
Well, it looks like we all have answers
in the room when we flip them over here.
Seth says 3.6.
Max, spelled
backwards, says 3.0.
Sarah says 3.9.
Nate says 3.9.
Alyssa says 3.3.3.
And Brody says 3.0.
We have a correct answer in the room.
It's 3.6.
Oh, damn it.
C.
3.6 inches.
A milleradian is an angular unit of measurement
equal to 1,000th of a radian.
At any given distance, a mill is 1,1,000th
of the distance to the target.
So at 100, at 1,000 yards, a mill is 1 yard,
or 36 inches.
At 100 yards, it's 3.6.
That's such great flavor.
I can see how you got there.
Do you guys know what a radian is?
No.
It's an angle.
It's an arc link.
Yeah, where the arc of the circle is equal to the radius.
I did terrible.
You got to explain that again if you lost me.
Draw a picture.
So if you have a circle, you have a piece of pie.
This is how we're going to fill in for not having any.
This is also a good time to mention.
This is our first trivia episode that will be available in a video format on Apple Podcast.
So if you are an audio-only listener via Apple podcast,
you can now hit a little button and say view video.
Might be the only video.
So you can see what Randall is drawing.
So here's a slice of pie and the radius is equal to the arc length.
Now, a milleradion is one one thousandth of that.
And you can imagine as the pie shrinks,
this becomes less of an arc and more of like a straight line.
So it's basically a.
Millaradian is a thing where this is a thousandth of that.
That explains it.
I'm still a little lost, but that was cool.
Great question.
Man, once your brain breaks through, it's going to open your eyes, man.
I'm still reading your book you gave me.
Do you shoot in Mills? I do.
Okay.
I don't know if that was enough to convince me to shoot Mills.
What do you shooting?
M.O.
Question two.
This question falls under the category of fishing.
I feel like M.O.A is more American.
It's like a free.
I think it's more...
It's not metric.
A common misconception is that mills are metric.
Well, they're on a base 10 system, but they're not.
More American.
Question two, this question falls under the category of fishing.
The Arapima, one of the world's largest freshwater fish
capable of reaching over 400 pounds, is native to which continent?
The Arapaima, one of the world's largest freshwater fish,
capable of reaching over 400 pounds
is native to which continent.
Brody's got an answer confident.
It's a number's game.
So confident.
Yeah.
I'd like to catch a few of these things.
You can sort of use the process of elimination
on this one.
There's only seven.
And one of them.
And one of them's right.
Yep.
One of them's right.
Sick of them or wrong.
You could probably rule out a few.
I don't want to give away too many hints.
Arapimer, sweet.
Look like dinosaurs.
They are tough.
looking.
They're cool.
Never seen one.
They're very cool.
Never even thought of one.
If Spencer, if Spencer had been hosting this episode, he would have a photo to show you
right after this.
Nope.
Nope.
Just have to Google it later.
I bet you I've never seen one.
You probably haven't.
You want to make a wager?
Sarah, you're confident.
Pretty confident.
Sethri?
Nope.
Nope.
Max?
Everybody else is guessing?
Yep.
Well, we've got.
Six answers, why don't we flip them over?
Seth says Africa.
Max says South America.
Sarah says South America.
Nate says Asia.
Alyssa says South America.
Brody says South America.
The correct answer is South America.
The Arabima is found primarily in the Amazon River Basin of South America and is one of the few large fish that breathes air,
surfacing every five to 20 minutes to gulp oxygen through a special.
specialized lung-like organ.
They are highly prized by anglers and have been, oh, good job, Phil.
Have been introduced to Thailand, Malaysia, and other parts of Southeast Asia, where they're
now a popular target for exotic freshwater fishing.
Kind of looks like a tarpen head.
They kind of look like with their scales.
They kind of look like weird.
Yeah.
Like, very strange.
Very strange creatures.
Cool.
Question three.
This question comes to us in the category of five.
Dining.
Name three of the five forks
included in a formal table setting
according to the Auguste Escofier School
of Culinary Arts.
Name three of the five forks
in a formal table setting.
I didn't know there were five forks
formal table setting.
I was trying to think of weird forks to ask questions about
and this seemed like
perhaps the most approachable way.
Is it a cotillion class?
What's the word I'm looking for?
I never got invited to that.
Catillion.
Is it catillion?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Never did that.
Shoulda.
It's like we have a few.
Is anybody confident?
No.
I'm like 80%.
Nate, I thought you might know this.
I feel like I could have, but I just never crossed my path.
Does anybody confident about some of the forks?
Yeah, I got some good.
I bet you New England scum.
I'm not from New England, Nate.
I'm from Chicago.
Even worse.
There's five.
Always threatened to make us take manners class.
I've never had a meal in my life where there was five forks involved.
No.
Unless there was five people sitting there.
Do we all have?
No.
I'm disappointed in myself.
Don't rush.
Don't rush.
You have plenty of time.
What do you got?
I just think forks are real interesting, you know?
Well, there's...
I live in a place where there's three forks.
Oh.
Man, this should have been a softball for you then.
Yeah.
Name a fork other than the forks you're sure of.
It's another good question.
And it's not Madison Gallatin, Jefferson?
No.
Okay.
All right, team, flip them over.
Seth says dinner fork, salad fork, dessert fork.
Max, man, your backwards name is really throwing me off.
Salad fork, app fork, supper fork.
It's very Midwestern of you.
Sarah says salad fork
dessert fork dinner fork
Nate says salad fork dessert fork
Main fork
Elissa says salad fork
caviar fork dinner fork
Brody says salad fork
meat fork and fish fork
Oh man it's kind of tough
to score this Phil
I don't think it is
The correct
The correct answers are
Salad Fork
Dinner fork
Dessert fork
Fish Fork
an oyster fork
for oyster fork I would have also
accepted shrimp fork
I was going to put an appetizer
I was going to put oyster fork but I decided
to go with it sweet so no but
did I get it Seth and Sarah
got it nice
so a salad fork
stupid stupid stupid is shorter
smaller typically with four times
dinner is the longest fork
with four times dessert fork
smaller than a salad fork with three or four tines,
fish fork, a skinny three or four tined fork,
an oyster fork, the smallest, narrowest fork,
with three tines designed to be used with shellfish
or to pick up shrimp.
Beautiful.
Very nice.
What about spoons?
I don't know about spoons, man.
I'll be honest, I started looking into formal table settings,
and it got complicated way too fast.
I think there's three spoons.
Soup spoon.
serving spoon.
Well, no, that's like not on the place setting.
Question four.
Sure.
Whatever.
Come on, back.
This question falls under the categories of woodsmanship.
As everyone knows, the GPS coordinates for the meat eater flagship store in Bozeman, Montana are approximately 45.697947 latitude and 11.03963 longitude.
Of those two numbers, which should be expressed as a negative value?
and the options are obviously longitude, latitude,
neither or both.
I didn't intend this to be a multiple choice question,
but I thought I should just make that clear.
So between longitude, latitude coordinates for Bozeman, Montana,
which should be expressed as a negative value?
Both?
Neither?
Latitude? Longitude?
Who can say?
this is when it pays to be the guy who always plans everything
and you're always dropping pins for your friends.
Yeah.
I figured this would be good for
for on X users.
When I drop pins, I don't look at those numbers.
I don't look at the coordinates when I dropped in.
I think I've got this right.
You dropped me a lot long...
I know.
A couple days ago.
I know.
I'm thinking about what I did.
But that was in Michigan.
On Montana.
Well, you could...
You can probably guess one of the other than...
If we've all got answers,
why don't we flip them over?
Seth says longitude.
Max says longitude.
Sarah says neither.
Nate says latitude.
Alyssa says longitude.
Brody says longitude.
The correct answer is longitude.
Oh, shit.
Dang it.
Nate.
In geographic coordinate systems,
latitude numbers are positive
for locations north of the equator
and negative for locations south of the equator.
Longitude numbers are positive for locations east of the prime meridian
and negative for locations west of the prime meridian.
So Michigan and Montana are both negative.
They're the same, yeah.
Nice.
That sucks.
Boy, Nate, you were real confident on that one.
I know, I felt so good.
I could see it in my mind.
Dude, I'm just sucking.
I felt bad for you when I say you flip your board over.
Yeah, it happens.
It's all right.
It's all right.
I forgot my pants today, too.
What are you wearing?
What are you got on?
Shorts.
Okay.
And crox.
You wanted shorts, you wanted both shorts and pants?
Oh, the short socks and crox.
Those are some.
That was a lot.
I'm glad.
Did it filter the camera catch that?
Oh, totally.
Check out the new video feature on Apple Podcast.
Two humiliations in the span of two minutes.
Hey, man.
Breaks up the day nice.
Question five.
This question falls under the category of fishing.
This 12-letter word refers to the.
refers to the massive larvae of a dobsenfly,
which has six clawed legs.
We've had this question before, I think.
Well, I searched for it in Spencer's document.
Well, maybe I'm wrong.
And a big pair of satanic horn-like pinches
sticking out of its head.
Oh, yeah. We've had this.
Wait, how many letters?
Twelve.
Dobs and fly?
Just for the sake of the audience,
I'll repeat it.
This 12-letter word refers to the massive
larvae of a dobson fly, which has six clawed legs and a big pair of satanic horn-like pinchers
sticking out of its head. And I will note, Spencer provides all guest hosts with a document
outlining all the questions he's used. And I searched for this and it wasn't in there.
We found out that recently Spencer asked a question for a third time. And that was that was
Spencer. That wasn't even a guest host. Was that the dog request? Can we spell it?
Yes, like the dot.
Yeah.
Oh, I'm spelling it very wrong.
I'm coming up with 11.
Yeah, that's the same way.
Are you sure it's 12?
Mine's 11 and I'm like absolutely right.
I think you might.
Are there any letters in there that could be doubled up?
Yeah.
Yeah, I have one that's doubt.
Oh, maybe it's.
Maybe there's a different way to spell it that I looked up.
Oh, maybe you have a different.
You put this in the fish.
I think I have what Brody has.
Yeah.
Oh, I'm breaking the ice on this question.
I'm a second half guy.
I swear we were both here when this question was asked.
I don't know.
Something like it.
Yep.
You're going to be a sad panda.
Spencer's losing his basketball.
I just added a letter and spelled it wrong.
I have no idea.
If I'm wrong about this one, too, I'm just going to leave.
Oh, you should be fine, Nate.
Don't worry too much about it.
What's a dog?
I can't think of.
See, that's my...
Everything I can think of is not 12 letters.
He gave us a little...
Can I tell him what it's...
He gave us a little clue.
Sure.
Oh, double-bublish.
It's like a giant dragonfly, Max.
There's a little clue in there.
Six legs.
Big Parasatonic.
I see what it looked like.
Yeah.
I know what it looks like.
Again, if this was just pictonary,
like last time I would have done well, too?
A little clue.
I'm telling you, I got it.
And if I don't, I'm walking out.
boy it's really going to be a huge disappointment to our audience if this is a repeat question
they'll think that i didn't do my job when in fact i did my job we all believe you yep you're
actually doing someone else's job you know that's a great point that's a great point set i got 13
oh man let's run with it yeah just let her rip all right we're ready flip them over
says,
Helgrimite.
Zam or Max says devilhead
Scud. I like that.
Ooh, it's a good band name.
Nothing?
Hellgaramite.
Nate says Helgaramite.
Alyssa says blank and Brody says
Helgrimite.
Did you end up with 12 letters there?
Well, that one I did.
Yep.
2M.
You spelled it correctly.
The correct answer is Helgramite.
Oh, so I just needed an M.
Nothing.
aquatic insects.
Much like crayfish, they hide under rocks and other debris and fast-moving streams.
This ugly bug and fly pattern resembled are popular among anglers due to their size.
For more on this nasty thing, check out Hugh B. Brown's article, creepy crawlers, how to catch
and fish with Helgramites on the meat eater.com.
Can they bite you?
Yeah, Phil.
Yeah.
It'll take me a second.
Yeah, yeah.
And you also have to do a scoreboard update at this point.
time to this poorly.
Yeah.
I don't know if you still,
there's bait shops
in Pennsylvania to sell them.
Really?
Yeah.
I don't know if they do that anymore.
We used to go flip rocks.
We didn't fish or anything,
but we were just scared of them.
That makes sense.
Yeah,
we would flip rocks for them
for small mouth bait.
Would they seek you out and bite you?
Or would you like step on one
and then they would bite you?
I don't know.
You'd have to ask.
I don't think they're going to hunt you down.
No.
They're not going to hunch you down.
So you should be scared.
Low-res picture, but there you go.
No, you can be scared of them,
Max.
You can be scared of anything.
You could be scared of foxes.
Phil, we're now halfway through our game of trivia.
Too soon.
Can I have a scoreboard update, please?
You certainly can.
I gave Hel Garamite to Nate.
You better.
I kind of, I made an executive decision.
I've only got one, right?
Yeah, dude, it's been a rough day.
But despite the misspelling from Nate, he still only has one point.
I'll come back.
Max, Sarah, and Alyssa are tied up with two.
Brody has three.
and in first place,
Seth Morris, he's got four.
I'm coming back, Phil.
Look at the big old brain.
I'd like to hear more about how you forgot your pants.
I came in for a workout this morning
and walked out without my Trader Joe's bag of clothes.
So I also forgot my lunch and my banana.
And, yeah.

Let's be honest about the kind of work
that earns a season.
It's not glamorous.
Scouting, hanging cameras,
cutting lanes, fixing fences,
packing, practice, prep.
The stuff that doesn't get noticed.
but that makes the difference.
That's what First Light fieldware is designed for.
Fieldware is made for the work that happens long before opening day
and continues long after the season ends.
Every piece is built for real use.
No shortcuts, hardwaring where it needs to be versatile where it matters,
built to handle varied tasks and the demands of doing things the right way.
If you live in preparation, fieldware belongs in that routine.

Question six.
This question falls under the category of conservation.
What is the five-letter Russian origin term used to describe the boreal forest biome that stretches across the northern regions of the globe?
We're back, baby. I want to come in third on this game.
I'm calling it now.
What is the five-letter Russian-origin term used to describe the boreal-fews?
forest biome. I feel like we've had this one too. That stretches across the northern regions of the globe.
Because I like this question. I wouldn't like it if we've had it before.
Did you like the last question? I did, but I'm still almost positive we've had it before.
In some form or another. Did you check both versions of the spelling?
Of this spelling? No, the last one. Like maybe, oh, maybe he misspelled it. I looked it up and I only found the one spelling.
There you go.
Again, we're looking for a five-letter
Russian origin term
used to describe the boreal
forest biome that stretches across
the northern regions of the globe.
Would I know this, Nate?
I don't know. Think back to like
middle school geography.
Exactly.
Middle school geography. Wow.
You know when you like learn about all the biomes?
You remember what you learned in middle school?
In this case, yes I do.
It's just flashes of it.
the important stuff
before we leave
the topic of my forgotten clothes
I do want to highlight
the super crocs I'm wearing
yeah I saw those
they're awesome dude
if you have regular crocs
and you like them
you'd love your super crocs
I buy the kitchen cracks
that don't have holes
what are those
like they do they have the insulation
splash proof
no they're just splash proof
they don't have holes
and the back's a little higher
they're really great winter crocs
they're great
they're great for wet grass
they are
when I was work
up in Alaska.
Oh, yeah.
I only use the holeless crox.
Wholeskrocks of the play.
Yeah.
Cool.
It's basically a little set of waiters.
Ooh.
Yeah.
Less warm and sweaty compared to deck boots.
Mm-hmm.
Good to know.
They don't look as weird when you wear them out in public.
Maybe they do.
Hold up.
You're saying crocs look weird out in public?
No.
No.
So we have three confident players in the room.
Alyssa, how are you feeling?
I was looking at my can to see things.
Give me any hint.
Oh.
Did that work?
Max has a blank board.
Seth has a blank board.
Is it in there somewhere, Seth?
It should be.
It's in there.
But could you play basketball in your kitchen crocks?
I can't dig it out.
With the strap on, yeah.
Oh, it's got a strap?
Yeah.
These ones have adjustable so you can cinch them down.
The straps's tighter.
Yeah, I'm not going to.
I think our two remaining contestants here are waving the white flag, so we'll flip them over.
Sarah says Tyga.
Nate says Tyga.
Alyssa says Arctic.
Brody says Taiga.
Wasn't it in there.
They've got it.
Boom.
The correct answer is Taiga.
The Taiga is the largest land biome on Earth, stretching across Russia, Canada, and Alaska, covering
approximately 27% of the world's total forests.
Russia alone contains roughly 50% of the world's taiga, with the vast Siberian boreal
forest representing one of the most important carbon sinks on the planet.
That's where I'd go to hide.
Putin if I lived in Russia.
Putin or Putin?
P-Uton.
Got him.
Got it.
That's good.
Question seven.
In the category of fishing.
What is the name of the knot
commonly used in fly fishing
to connect the leader to the fly line
tied using a hollow tube to wrap the line?
You've had so many fishing questions, dude.
That's fair.
That's a fair.
criticism. And I was, I was thinking we were coming in here
doing some gun stuff.
What is the name...
It's a good question. What is the name of the knot
commonly used in fly fishing to connect the leader
to the fly line tied using
a hollow tube to wrap the line?
To be fair, I was a last minute addition
to this episode, so Randall's not
showing me any favoritism.
No, I feel like I sort of
have to
deliberately shy away
from the gun questions. No, you've got to
lean into your strengths. Oh.
I'm really happy that he's not
leading into this. I was excited to
come in here and learn stuff about guns.
Well, you know what Arradian is now
and a Miller and I love that.
Do you have the right answer? No, absolutely not.
Don't get Nate started on fly fishing. He's got
some insane.
Insane takes.
Let's, uh,
let's hear it. I've said too much
already. Let's flip these boards over.
Seth says nail knot.
Axe says nail not. Sarah says
nail not. Nate says,
surgeon's not.
Lessa says Davy not.
Brody says nail knot.
The correct answer is the nail knot.
Sick.
The nail knot gets its name from the days when anglers would use an actual nail as a guide
to form the wraps, though today most fly fishermen use a hollow tube or a dedicated tool
to make the process easier.
It is considered one of the most essential knots in fly fishing as it creates a strong,
streamlined connection between the thick flyline and the thinner leader material.
real. Can anybody tie a nail knot?
I can do one without a nail, or...
I don't need to.
I just do a... Double loop knot and...
It's not a strong to loop connection.
Yeah.
If you want to talk leader to braid, I'll talk to you about that.
Oh, yeah.
Is the uni or double union? What do you do?
FG.
FG's a cool knot.
I love tying a good FG knot.
You take a look at that thing after you do it.
Like, God damn, that's pretty.
Yep.
And you ain't breaking it.
No.
I don't know if I've ever seen Brody is.
A good FG knot, it's like, oh, man.
Fired right up.
Question eight.
This question is in the category of cooking.
What gold medal winning athlete was the lead spokesperson for an indoor grill that cooks on two sides and drains the fat content of hamburgers and other meats?
What year?
No.
A year?
Yeah, what year was this gold medal winning athlete?
Would that?
Well, I don't.
don't want to give that away.
Is this one of the older person questions that you mentioned, Randall?
Is this the one?
Winter or Summer Olympics?
You know.
I feel good about this.
I don't know it for sure.
Max, this is one of those questions that if you don't know it immediately, you're not going to get it.
I can make some stuff up.
What gold medal winning athlete was the lead spokesperson?
Shikari Richardson.
For an indoor grill that cooks on two sides and drains the fat content of hamburgers and other meats.
Was it named after?
Yeah, that's my question.
Is George Foreman in a gold minning?
What?
I think we're on this.
same page. I don't even know if he's an athlete.
Well, he's probably not
a math athlete.
Okay, I know what I'm putting down.
People!
Don't react.
Good job.
Good job, everybody.
Does everybody have an answer?
Does everybody have an answer in the room?
I was the last person to write my answer down.
Seth says George Foreman.
The whole room says George
Forman. No, just for the record,
everyone had their answers down, and
Then I said it.
That's true.
So I was just, this was just helping myself out.
That's not your fault, Max.
No.
Everyone was a terrible actor.
Amen.
Amen to that.
I would also say it's bad form to start guessing aloud.
Yeah.
I didn't even know he was an athlete, to be honest with you.
I didn't either.
Do you think he was just a grillman?
Yeah.
He was an enthusiast of grilling.
I know him from grilling, not being an athlete.
The George Foreman Grill was introduced in 1994 and became one of the best-selling
kitchen appliances in history with over 100 million units sold worldwide.
Wow.
Foreman, a two-time heavyweight boxing champion, won the Olympic gold medal in 1968,
and he reportedly earned more money from the grill than he ever did from his entire boxing
career.
Wow.
That's because boxing's crooked.
I'm sorry for saying the answer out loud contestants, Randall, Spencer, and all the listeners.
You're fine, Max.
No, I want an apology from everyone who reacted.
Phil, we've got two questions left in our game of trivia.
How's that scoreboard looking?
Oh, it's looking great, Randall.
Wow.
Holy cow.
We got a pretty good game going.
We do.
Nate and Alyssa have three points.
Call him back.
Max has four.
Not the last place, yes.
Not yet.
Sarah's sitting pretty with five, and now we have a tie game between Brody and Seth.
Let's go, Seth.
Here we go, Seth.
How many more questions we have?
Two questions.
And maybe a tiebreaker.
if we need it.
Oh.
Question nine.
What is the name of the cartridge released by Federal in 2025 that uses a steel alloy case
to drive a 284 caliber projectile at pressures up to 80,000 PSI?
Oh.
What is the name of the cartridge released by Federal in 2025 that uses a steel alloy case
to drive a 284 caliber projectile?
at pressures up to 80,000 PSI.
Brody's confident.
I'm gonna have a guess.
Sarah's confident.
Seth's working through it.
Nate?
I just read an article about this and I can't remember the name.
Mm.
Max.
No.
Sarah?
Good.
Sarah's confident.
Max just drew a big squiggly line.
No.
That's nailed it.
Oh.
It's not a big squiggly.
That's the perfect answer from you, Max.
Thank you.
We're looking for the name of the cartridge released in 2025
that uses a steel alloy case
to drive a 284 caliber projectile at pressures up to 80,000 PSI.
Here's your gun question, Nate.
There you go.
You're asking for it.
No, I enjoy this more.
A lot more.
Sorry.
He just does not like fishing.
No.
Just despise his fishing.
I don't despise fishing.
He's got,
I just fly fishing.
You don't like the Coast Guard,
you don't like fishing.
What's your problem with water, Nate?
I like the Navy.
Can you swim?
Can you swim?
No.
Can you swim?
Real good.
Okay.
I bet I beat you a race.
Seth,
are you feeling good about your answer?
There's a pond out back.
You guys could.
Dude, Nate, are you going to get there?
No, dude.
I'm just, I'm, um,
Alyssa.
I suck.
I don't even want to get.
Flip them over, team.
Seth Morris, 7mm backcountry.
Max says 12 gauge.
Right in your lane.
Sarah says 7mm backcountry.
Nate says peak.
This says blank.
Brody says 7mm backcountry.
They've got it, gang.
It's the 7mm back country.
The 7mm back country case uses a proprietary material federal calls peak alloy,
which allows the cartridge.
I knew it was somewhere in there, dude.
Which allows the cartridge to push a 175 grain bullet to 3,000 feet per second out of a 20-inch barrel.
Nate, just last week, Federal announced a new line of ammunition for the 6-5 Creedmoor using the same peak alloy technology.
Yeah, the 65 PRC is dead.
That will deliver magnum performance out of a standard-sized case and chamber.
It will kill the 6-5.
Fascinating.
Well, might kill the 6-5 PRC.
Yeah, if you just bought one.
I'll tell you, the film near back country did not kill it.
kill that cartridge.
And I don't think it ever will.
Well, none of us can
see the future.
I can see it clearly. But I'm pretty excited.
Speaking of seeing the future, I'm having this
major deja vu right now. This is weird.
How many times you think you can reload one of those cases?
I have no idea. That's the problem with those things.
Probably like once. You can reload them.
Yeah. You can reload them.
Guys are fire forming. They're figuring out.
Fire forming. Well, I shouldn't say fire forming.
They're necking down.
Some of this new 6-5.
This is what I wanted in this episode, dude.
It's really interesting stuff.
I saw just yesterday, some guys are shooting a 103 grain bullet out of a 20-inch gas gun
6mm at 3,300 feet per second.
Wow.
That means nothing to me.
Now, before we move on to our final question, here's a quick recap of our answers so far.
Question one, C, 3.6.
Question two, South America.
Question three, salad, dinner, dessert.
fish, oyster.
Question four, longitude.
Question five, Helgrimite.
Question six, Tiga.
Question seven, nail knot.
Question eight, George Foreman.
Question nine, seven millimeter backcountry.
All my correct answers have been total guesses.
It's great.
Nice.
Good job.
Question 10 is in the category of hunting.
Name the five species of deer
recognized by the Boon and Crocket Club.
Name the five species of deer
recognized by the Boone and Crocket Club.
Shoot.
I have four.
I got four, too.
Brody's got an answer.
Brody looks like he feels confident.
He has that same disinterested look on his face
that he always does when he feels confident about an answer.
Well, to set up the stakes,
even though Brody looks pretty confident,
Seth and Brody are still tied up
Sam on Seth.
Sarah is just one point behind with six.
Have you won yet, Sarah?
I won a Gibroni episode.
So no.
Doesn't count.
You should win this.
I don't count it.
Good, good, good, good.
Why are you bringing up then?
Getting real close.
Seth, you feel good where you ended up?
I think so, yeah.
Five.
Five.
Four.
Nate, you got your five?
Yeah, I'm if you on one.
Probably.
It doesn't matter, dude.
Still gonna be the last.
No, not if I get this wrong.
Oh, it'll be tied.
Brody's reconsidering his answer now.
You know, if we tie
and then get into a tiebreaker,
yeah, what about it?
Loser should have to bring something to baby plush.
Is there an answer that could potentially cause
an argument?
I don't know.
I feel like it's pretty.
I know
How am I doing, Seth?
Brody's working through it
I don't want to fight with you
I mean you got
You're all there
Oh really?
Something's split there
Oh jeez
Is anybody here play cribbage?
Only five you know more
Great game
I'm having a hangarin for some cribbage
I haven't played cribbage in a while
Do you have more than five?
Yes
I have five now
that's one
very good
well I mean I shouldn't have showed you
because you can't really
yeah
he's pretty crooked as
crooked as box
nice
are there some species of deer
that I'll make my argument
by Boone and Crocket
I'm
I'm just going to say
deer
deer deer deer deer
as in not
you can make that argument
if you want
Odie colianus
Isn't that the correct
Let's just flip them over and then figure it out
Yeah
I think we do establish
The rules
Are we flip them over?
Let's flip them over here
Seth says Columbia Blacktail
Sitka Blacktail, Mule Deer, White Tail Deer
and Coos deer
Max says Sitka Blacktail, White Tail, Mule
Coos, Blank Blacktail.
Sarah says
White Tail, Mule, Blacktail,
tail, cooes, fallow.
Nate says, white, tail, black, tail.
They're all deer species.
Mule, Sitka, Coos.
I don't think that's the spirit.
I didn't say anything, Brody.
Alyssa says blacktail, white tail, mule, axis, fallow.
Brody says elk, moose, white tail, mule, blacktail.
And cariboo.
If you're fixing to really get into it.
The correct answer is white tail, coos,
mule, sitka blacktail,
Columbia blacktail.
I understand where you're going with this, Brody.
But blacktail is not a category.
They split it.
Hold on.
What do you mean?
They split what?
They have two different blacktail species recognized.
No, I'm wondering.
So I have blacktail and then sicka.
No.
I think Seth's the only one you got it.
I think you need Columbia blacktail and Sitka blacktail.
Everyone knows I'm talking about Colombian black tail.
I think it's a fly.
Everyone knows that.
I know exactly what you're talking about.
But Seth got it right.
We have a correct answer to the room.
That's Seth Rie Morris.
Good job, Taylor.
Can you show us a scoreboard update?
My goodness gracious.
Here we are.
What a nail biter.
Seth Morris with eight points.
You are today's winner.
My time's coming.
To which worthy cause would you like to donate your $500 prize?
I'm going to go to the Ike Foundation.
It's Mike Ikenelli's nonprofit that he has,
where he introduces underprivileged children to fishing.
That's wonderful.
Buy some fishing gear, take some fishing.
I think he offers some scholarships, stuff like that.
Mike and Ellie.
They do some conservation work.
Previous trivia answer.
Yeah.
That's fantastic.
$500 to the Ike Foundation.
There we go.
Congrats on your win.
Thanks everybody for playing.
And thanks to our audience for tuning in.
I'm your host.
This is where you kind of do the bubbly.
like hey.
I'm your host,
thank you.
Good job.
To me next time for media.
Thanks, Randall.
That was great.
Yeah, Spencer from South Dakota.
He's the host.
Using those smooth,
mellow tones, he lays them
questions down.
And he likes taking those two
and three-year-old bucks.
And he's an avid, amateur.
