Welcome to Me Deeder Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins.
There is a prize.
Me Deeder will donate $500 to the conservation organization of the winner's choosing.
I'm your host, Spencer Newarth, and today we're joined by Brody,
Randall, Seth, Laura, Cori, Nate, and Logan.
This is a 10-round quiz show with questions from meat eaters for verticals,
which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking.
Meadeter trivia is brought to you by one of my favorite beers, Bush Light.
Bush Light, head for the mountains.
All right, we are starting today's episode of the mailbag question.
If you have a question, you want the crew to answer,
then send your question with the subjectline mailbag to trivia at the medeater.com.
is probably the toughest one we've gotten so far.
It's not tough.
Okay.
Let me tell you about it.
I think it is.
This is from Josh in Illinois.
My mother, who is in poor health, recently moved into my wife and I's place that is really
only big enough for the two of us.
Hunting season here in Illinois is right around the corner.
I've been picking it back up here in my mid-20s after around a decade of not having
the ability to do it much.
My mother is staunchly against hunting.
She can't stand the idea of killing, quote, innocent animals for anything other than pure last resort survival purposes.
In fact, years ago, I came home with a squirrel I had killed and she didn't talk to me for a week.
All that to say, while I am prepared to debate the topic and obviously I am right, she's not in good health and I'd rather not rock the boat at such a sensitive time.
How would you approach either talking to her about the topic or sneaking out before the sun several days a week?
This fall.
Send her to a vegan nursing home.
Okay.
My house, my rules.
Okay.
I'd encourage you to ask your wife how she feels, because if it's two on one, tough
odds, but if you two are together, then I think it's fun.
If he, so he's in his mid-20s.
He says mid-20s.
This is his mom, to be clear.
Sure.
But did he grow up with her when they hunted?
Like, did his dad hunt?
He says he's been out of the game for a decade, so I don't know.
I assume this isn't like a household thing.
Yeah, I mean, I would ask her if she eats meat and then kind of like bring up the ethical question there.
I wouldn't get into debates with my mother who's in ill health.
I agree.
I would either make it invisible to her or I would take a season off.
It's your mother.
I think the right answer here is to lie.
Brody, it's your mother.
The right answer is to lie.
My mom ate game meat.
She didn't have a problem with it.
Yeah, you just tell her you're really low on money and that this actually is a
survival situation.
Oh, okay.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
Uh, make you write you a check as well, as it's a win-win.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I just watch every single crime movie you can find where someone hides evidence of violence.
You know, like I'd buy a lot of drop claws for the garage.
Yeah.
Bleach.
Yeah, exactly.
I'd just become very clinical in my cleanup.
Yeah.
And I don't know.
Does she, if she sleeps late, maybe you go out for an early hunt.
If she gets, if she goes to bed early, maybe you hunt the evening.
It could be like a fun little game.
Like, what can I hide from mom?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Every adult loves to play that.
It's like one of my favorite games of my life.
Yeah.
It's really bad at it, but nonetheless.
I think you just got a lot of mom.
She doesn't know where you're going.
You kill a deer.
Maybe there's a buddy's house.
You can hang in his garage to take care of it.
I understand, though, like, you don't want to make your mom sad in the last months of her life,
assuming that's what's going on here.
You don't want to get into arguments around the dinner table with your mother and
ill health. While eating a deer you kill. Let's keep the things in perspective.
That won't happen if she's eating dinner somewhere else. Everybody remembers the quiet
thrill of flushing a few cigarette butts down the toilet when they were 15, you know?
Josh must be the golden child if mom is living with him. So I think he can kind of guilt-free
hunt. Sorry about that, Josh. That's a tough one. That's a heavy question. Everyone to begin with.
All right, some housekeeping. In a previous episode, I had a question about the homophone that is
organic material in soil and a Middle Eastern dip.
The correct answer was hummus, which is spelled with 1M or 2.
But as about a dozen listeners pointed out, and Randall, I was wrong in calling it a
homophone.
Apparently, the 2M dip is pronounced hummus and the 1M soil is pronounced hummus, similar to
how you pronounce human.
My bad, but the whole room got it right, so it won't affect the outcome of the game.
Janus was still the big winner.
Randall, you would have you would have caught on to that
if you would have been in the room for that episode, I take it.
I think so, yeah.
Humus.
Humus.
Damn it.
Sounded like an idiot.
Also, an announcement.
I will be coming to the Minnesota meat eater store on October 22nd for meat eater
trivia.
The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m.
The grand prize is a $1,000 gift card to the Minnesota meat eater store.
Teams of up to four can compete, but solo players are also welcome.
spots are limited and you need to sign up.
When we did this at the Milwaukee store, we were sold out in less than 48 hours.
So act fast.
It costs $10 per person.
And at the end of the game, all of that money will be donated to a conservation organization of the winners choosing.
If you want to play, go to the meat eater.com slash events to register.
That is October 22nd at the Minneapolis meat eater store.
When are we going to do a team trivia?
When are we going to win thousands of?
dollar gift cards.
Yeah.
That's the first thing I thought of.
It's a good idea, Brody.
We've only done teams when it's like ganging up on Randall or ganging up on Brody.
We all love those games.
We do love those.
All right, the Shelby Index for today is a five, so I'm putting us on perfect score alert.
And with that, we're on to the game of trivia.
Play the drop, Phil.
Look, I need to know what I stand to win.
Everything.
How's that?
Just tend to win everything.
Question one.
is hunting and as always this will be multiple choice. When did California ban mountain lion hunting?
Was it? 1980. 1990? 2000 or 2010? When did California ban mountain lion hunting?
1980? 1980? 90? 2000 or 2010? Randall without choice is how close do you think you would have
gotten? You're picking up your board pretty fast. I thought you just knew this.
this one. No, no, I didn't. Okay. I could have gotten, I'm still not sure of my answer. Just an educated
guess. When did California ban mountain lion hunting? 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010. Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal your answers. Laura says 2010. Logan, 2010. Seth, 2000. Randall,
2010, Corey, 2010, Nate, 1990, Brody, 1990.
The correct answer is 1990.
Let's go, baby.
Just Nate and Brody, got that one right.
California went from having a bounty on mountain lions to closing mountain lion seasons in just nine years.
Here's that timeline.
Until 1963, the state paid hunters to kill Cougars.
From 1963 to 1970, the state allowed year-round mountain lion hunting with no bag limits.
Then California made mountain lion seasons for 1970 and 1971.
In 1972, they put a moratorium on lion hunting.
Then in 1990, by a vote of 52% to 48%, California voters passed Proposition 117 to outlaw mountain lion hunting.
Question two, the topic is woodsmanship.
The Bureau of Land Management defines this nine-letter type of camping as, quote,
camping on public lands away from developed recreational facilities.
BLM defines this nine-letter type of camping as camping on public lands away from developed recreational facilities.
You know what you do for teams?
What could we do?
You could do it by like pursuit.
Like, Laura's like a bird hunter.
You know?
Logan's a bow hunter
Seth's a fisherman
So you want to put the anglers together
Or you want to like put an angler with a big game hunter
Oh
That's a dog owner
I think you got to like mix them up
No I think you go
You specialize and see who knows more about other stuff
Okay
I feel like Seth's got more diversity
Than just fishing
Well what do you call
What do you think yourself as
Trapper
Seth this morning was checking his fantasy fishing
standings
When I walked into the office
750 a M
He has a team of eight professional anglers.
He was doing really well, except he forgot to submit his picks.
Five.
He forgot to submit his picks when he went up to Alaska to go fishing,
so he lost that week's fantasy fishing,
and it really hurt him in the overall standing.
So I would, I think the shoe fits.
Fishing interrupted his fishing.
Get around question two.
Because I have too much to do.
The BLM defines this nine-level.
type of camping as camping on public lands away from developed recreational facilities.
Is Brody Henderson dumped?
Dude, I have a word that I know is right, and it's not nine.
Okay.
It's not nine letters.
I had to dig deep for this one.
Corey, did you find the answer?
I mean, I'm sure, like, this is the only type of camping I do.
The answer you're looking for is in my head somewhere, but I don't have it.
Is everybody ready?
And yeah.
And I'm going to fight this one.
Go ahead and reveal your answers, Laura and Logan and Seth and Randolph.
say dispersed. Corey says primitive.
Nate, dispersed, Brody, boondocking.
The correct answer is dispersed.
Look it up. See if boondocking is.
Boondocking is one. That's not nine letters.
But it's not nine letters.
I know.
Dispersed camping is anytime you camp somewhere that's not a campground.
This term is used by the BLM Forest Service, National Park Service, and many state agencies.
According to a 2026 survey, dispersed camping is now the most
popular camping style in America
ahead of traditional campgrounds
for the first time ever. Which makes
dispersed camping not quite as dispersed.
Not quite as cool. Not as fun anymore.
Everybody's doing it.
Question three, the topic is conservation.
This conservation group,
which sells lifetime
memberships for dogs,
is headquartered in St. Paul,
Minnesota. The room is stumped.
This conservation group
which sells lifetime memberships
for dogs is
headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Nate and Logan locked in their answers.
And Brody.
Did someone restain this table?
It's like the same table, but it's just...
No, it's a different table.
No way.
Yeah.
Nathaniel...
We painted the walls a few months ago.
That's it.
Nathaniel and his wife stained it,
and Nate said it was a thirsty table.
How many coats you put on here?
Three.
Three of gel-stain and three of poly.
So six total.
Was your wife wearing a mask?
No, she was coaching me.
She didn't actually come.
Oh, I got you.
She stood in the other room and watched through the window.
No, every now and that I'd be like,
I'm concerned about your future air.
Right, I've been doing all her staining projects recently.
Yeah, when you said Nathaniel, I was like, who is that?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, never knows.
Is that actually your full name?
Yeah.
Who's this sophisticated man, we don't know.
Too pretentious.
We don't use that.
This conservation group, which sells lifetime memberships for dogs,
is headquartered in.
St. Paul, Minnesota.
Everybody ready.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Laura says,
Pheasants Forever.
Logan. Ducks Unlimited.
Seth,
Fesons Forever.
Randall, Ruffed Grouse Society.
Corey,
pheasants forever.
Nate, Ducks Unlimited.
Brody.
Pesons Unlimited.
The correct answer is
Pheasants Forever.
Or Quail Forever.
Damn.
The Fesons Forever.
The Fesons Forever.
Dog Life membership is $500.
And it comes with a Yeti Dog Bowl and framed certificate that is half the price that it costs for a human life membership, which comes with a Yeti Go Box, framed certificate and calendar.
Fessons Forever says that more membership equals more habitat, more birds and more public access.
So Bank for the Buck, a human lifetime membership, you know, humans live a lot longer.
I was going to say, yeah.
than dogs.
Lifetime membership for a dog.
Depending on what the annual is, you might be better off with.
There is no annual membership.
It's a lifetime or nothing.
So you've got to get it when you're a puppy.
Mm.
Yeah.
Should be one.
Does your dog need a membership or?
Doesn't need one, but it's good.
I think Max gets him.
Max also buys duck stamps for his dog.
That's what it is.
That's what I was thinking of.
Question for the topic is cooking.
This is our listener question of the week, which was won by Mike Batson for sending this
great question.
Mike is going to get a 100.
$150 first light gift card.
If you want a chance to win the listener question for the week,
then send your question to trivia at the meat eater.com.
This nine-letter word refers to a Cajun cooking technique
where fish is dipped in melted butter,
coated in bold spices,
and seared in a hot pan to build a dark crust.
Corey and Randall were racing and Corey is the winner.
It's not a race.
This nine-letter word refers to a Cajun cooking technique.
where fish is dipped and melted butter, coated in bold spices,
and seared in a hot pan to build a dark crust.
This is like one of my dad's two dishes that he cooks.
It doesn't do much cooking.
So is he good at it?
Yeah, it's pretty good.
We do with salmon.
Good job, dad.
I feel like salmon is not a popular way to,
or this is not a popular way to make salmon.
Yeah, it tastes pretty good, though.
The last meal I ate with my grandfather at a restaurant,
and he got really mad because they blacked.
into salmon.
Okay.
When he's like you burned this.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
And then...
That?
Sweet.
Roger.
Yeah, cool.
Way to just...
Oh, fuck.
Can we bleep all that out?
I thought that was intentional.
I really thought it was a good.
We're gonna need to bleep all that out, Phil.
Yeah.
Wow.
Logan, did you hear what...
I was not.
Oh, no.
Laura had her used clothes.
Can we bleep all that out, Phil?
I was count letters.
That was a bad showing.
He's got a lot on his mind.
I couldn't even focus on the rest of your story.
What happened?
He got served a salmon.
In this style, and he was mad.
Okay.
You can say it again.
We tried.
Oh, no.
We got it.
Nice.
We tried to, like, talk him down, but he was very mad at the...
Oh, man, there's some angry people out there right now.
Is that what killed him?
No, no.
Is everybody ready?
Don't joke about that, Spencer.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
We have the whole room saying blackened.
How they know it, the correct answer is blackened.
I'm off my game.
Sorry, everybody.
That's really embarrassing.
This cooking technique was introduced in New Orleans in the early 1980s.
Blackened redfish became so popular that it caused state and federal agencies to alter fishing regulations.
In the Gulf, commercial redfish harvest spanishes.
from 2.7 million pounds in 1980
to 8.3 million pounds in 1986
to learn how to make it. Check out Danielle Pruitt's recipe
on the meat eater.com called blackened fish tacos
with corn salsa.
Wow.
There's a picture of Daniel's tacos.
Geez.
Yum.
Oh, where that's that?
Picture boy.
That's a pretty picture there.
I think so.
We'll say that was a Sess Morris handywork.
In focus?
What if it's not Seth?
Danielle took her own photos.
I'm going to reach out.
Oh, is that your cookbook?
Yeah, did you shoot the cookbook?
This is on their website.
I'm pretty sure I've taken photos of her making that same thing, though.
No, that's not my photo.
You can say what it is.
On that table, too.
We're odd to question five.
The topic is public lands.
This next great question is via Greg Knutson.
What does WPA stand for?
as in the land managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
WPA, what does that stand for?
We are referring to the land that's managed of the Fish and Wildlife Service.
Nate, locks in his answer.
Do you have this one right, Nate?
I feel good.
I could be wrong.
How about you, Randall?
Would you like to tell folks what it is?
I feel pretty good, but I've been showing my ass already on this episode a little bit.
So I'm not going to make any bold prediction.
predictions here.
Cori and Seth and Brody now putting down their whiteboards.
What does WPA stand for?
My first job at Meteor was WPA.
Same here.
Oh, Wilderness Production Assistant?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
That's not the answer, though, guys.
You made me nervous, Randall, though, when you did that.
Taste of your own medicine.
What does WPA stand for?
Yep, good old days of lugging batteries around
of making sandwiches for Steve.
I'm complaining about your sandwich.
Sandwiches are just never quite right.
Corey, are you ready?
Yeah.
Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Laura says, wilderness prevention, protection area.
Logan, wetland protected area.
Seth, wildlife protection area.
Randall, waterfowl production area.
Corey, wildlife protection area.
Nate, wildlife protection area.
Brody, waterfowl production area.
We have a correct answer in the room.
That's right.
It's waterfowl production area.
Randall and Brody.
See if I had been confident.
Got that one right.
Nate.
Big duck guys.
WPAs are small natural wetlands and grasslands
that provide breeding and nesting habitat
that for millions of birds, there are about 3 million acres of WPAs with the vast majority
located inside the prairie pothole region.
The funding to preserve these areas largely comes from duck stamp sales.
And now it's time for a Can-Am question of the week.
Thanks to Can-A-Brah.
You get some bonus trivia in this week's episode.
This does not count towards your score.
It's just for bragging rights.
Here's the question.
The topic is gear.
The five letters you'll find on.
most four-wheel drive
ATV gear selectors
are P, R, N,
blank, and
blank.
Randall, who's
an expert at making dropping noises
over there.
I knew it right away.
This one doesn't count.
This is not count, but you should still try, Seth.
Let's see how much you know about gear.
The five letters, you'll find
on most four-wheel drive, ATV, gear selectors
are P, R.N
and
blank blank.
Randall,
could we hear if someone was driving an electric
ATB around?
What would that sound like?
Okay, very good.
How about if they were going through water?
What would that sound like, you think?
Ooh, that's tough.
Oh, that's pretty good.
Sorry to the listeners.
What if the exhaust was broken?
What would that one sound like?
Yeah, all right.
Real jukebox over there.
Five letters you'll find
for a new job here.
More wheel drive ATV gear selectors.
So what's that called sound effects?
What's that?
Foley.
Foley, that's right.
Loley artists.
We had that as a prior question
that nobody got right.
PRN, blank and blank.
Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Laura says D and
four. Logan, H.L.
Seth. H.L.
Randall.
H. L.
Corey LH
Nate LH
Brody DL the correct answer
is H for high and
L for low
I think we had five of our seven
players get that right that was our can't am
question of the week can am to be fair
I don't have a can't am sitting in my
driveway like some people in this room
Randall
Randall still got it wrong because he had four high and four low
Shut up Seth yeah
All right Phil give us a scoreboard update we are
halfway through today's game of
trivia.
Not as tight as last week, but still pretty tight
here in half time. How is it not as tight as
as last week? Last week,
we had seven players who had three points
going into question six.
Logan and Corey have
two points of peace. Everyone else, Laura,
Seth, Randall Nate, and Brody have three.
There will be no perfect game today.
What are we two more only?
Are we halfway?
We're halfway through the game.
I thought I got more now.
He sent Brody to the vegan nursing game.
No, I thought I had way more than that wrong.

solid show that i'm proud to be part of question six the topic is fishing president trump said in
in august twenty twenty six truth social post that he is quote giving serious consideration to
changing the name of blank blank to lake america oh good god have you
read the news today.
I wrote this question yesterday and then Brody sent a text to our news group today
and maybe spoiled this for some folks in the room.
President Trump said in August 26 truth social post that he is giving serious consideration
to changing the name of blank blank to Lake America.
Corey, do you have this one right?
If this was in a SNL.
Nobody, like, it seems like that's where it came from.
Like, he got that idea from an SML skit.
Logan, do you have this one right?
I don't think so.
I'm trying to think of unpatriotic names and lakes.
Yeah, pretend this is an S&L skit then.
See what you can come up with.
Yeah, it's a joke, right?
The whole thing.
President Trump is giving serious consideration to changing the name of Blank Blank to Lake America.
Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Laura says Lake Superior, Logan, Lake Michigan, Seth and Randall and Corey, and Nate and Brody, say Lake Ontario.
They got it.
The correct answer is Lake Ontario.
Did he not sign an executive order?
He tweeted about.
Oh, no, he signed.
It happened now?
Oh, okay.
I only saw the tweet about it yesterday.
I hadn't heard that update.
Okay.
President Trump floated the name change as a retaliatory move in the country's ongoing trade
war with Canada. His reasoning was, quote, we don't expect to be doing much business with Ontario
any longer. His last name change from Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America has received mixed
adaptation. The federal government, Apple Maps, and Google Maps now call it the Gulf of America,
while most foreign governments, Encyclopedia Britannica and the Associated Press have stuck with
Gulf of Mexico. Some groups like Southwest Airlines and Royal Caribbean Cruises have scrubbed both
names from their maps and promotional materials as to not take a side.
Question seven, the topic is wildlife.
They just don't label it, or they'll say like the Caribbean seas.
It's just the southwestern Atlantic, the central western Atlantic.
Question seven, the topic is wildlife.
This five-word business, which refers to its museums as auditoriums, owns unbelievable
taxidermy like a cyclops shark, two-headed,
snake and blue lobster.
The topic is wildlife.
This five-word business, which refers to its museums as auditoriums, that's ODD-Eotoriums,
owns unbelievable taxidermy like a cyclops shark, two-headed snake, and blue lobster.
Nate, do you have this one right?
I got a good guess.
Oh, five-letter business?
That's the thing that's throwing me.
me five word business five word oh five word not five word it's five word dang thank you five word
business which refers to wow it's making a lot more sense no i still got it i still got museums as
auditoriums owns unbelievable taxidermy like a cyclops shark two-headed snake and blue lobster i think
i still have it have we thought about adding words to the name of our business you i think how we
could get to be a six letter or six word business just impressive when you think about it yeah not
a lot of five word businesses out there.
So Nate and Brody and Randall, they all think they have it.
Laura, Logan, Seth, and Corey appear to be stumped.
Five word business, which refers to its museums as auditoriums, owns unbelievable taxidermy,
like a cyclops shark, two-headed snake, and blue lobster.
Wait a minute.
Okay.
Laura found it.
Corey, do you have this one?
I don't know. I'm waiting for Randall to spill the beans.
What do you got?
Any hints?
Tidbits.
It's only...
It's one of the few five word businesses I can say, though.
Any grandpa stories?
Not a fan of this.
He wasn't?
No.
Okay.
Laura and Logan disagree. They both liked their answers.
We'll find out who has it.
Oh, geez.
Well, I like your answer.
Two different five-word businesses?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now I know.
Okay.
That's the second five-word business I can think of.
Oh, I don't even know what it could be.
I'm excited to see these.
Corey, do you give up?
Yeah.
I think Marshall would get this.
That's your answer.
Is it still a thing?
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Laura says Ripley's believe it or not.
Logan, Guinness Book of World Records.
Seth, without an answer.
Randall says Ripley, believe it or not.
Corey, without an answer, Nate, Ripley's, believe it or not, Brody, Ripley's believe it or not.
The correct answer is Ripley's believe it or not.
It feels like auction house about these.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I'd love to have the collection of things that they have.
Spencer is Believe it or not.
Would you?
Ripley started as a newspaper cartoon in 1918.
By the 1930s, the business was making books, radio programs, and museums.
Ripley's has since expanded into aquariums, mirror mazes, movie theaters, wax museums, mini golf courses, haunted houses, and science centers.
There's some business ideas for us.
Where are these places?
All over.
I feel like they've got like dozens of museums in the United States.
And then also like dozens more worldwide auditoriums.
And they have an aquarium, I think, in Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg.
We're on to question eight.
The topic is conservation.
This next great question is via Nate Powitsky.
What tool has Smokey Bear held since 1951?
Now this is a question.
Okay.
The room has their mojo back.
A lot of quick answers.
What tool has Smokey held since 1951?
Very quick answers in the room.
We're going to give our audience a chance to think.
before we flip over the whiteboard.
Has anyone ever been to a Ripley's?
Mm-mm.
Boring.
I think I had a book or something.
Do they make books?
They made books.
That's why I think Marshall might know it.
I assumed in Marshall's Library
he's got a Ripley's, believe it or not,
books somewhere.
No, he's been into the Guinness Book of World Records recently.
Nice.
Been looking at the 2009 Guinness Book of World Records book.
Oh, way out of date.
What tool has Smokey Bear held since 1951?
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
We have Laura saying a shovel.
Logan, shovel, Seth shovel, Randall shovel,
Corey shovel, Nate shovel, Grody shovel.
The correct answer is shovel.
When Smokey Bear debuted in 1944, he was holding a bucket of water.
But a 1951 redesign replaced the pail with a shovel,
which he has posed with ever since.
Smokey said in a 2020 Facebook post that he carries a shovel
so that he can stir and bury his campfires.
and there is a very handsome, smoky, shirtless,
uh, holding his shovel.
Odd to fit to those pants.
A little too long.
He needs, uh, needs to see.
Well, they're blousey in the front, but it seems like it fits his body.
It looks like they're on backwards.
Yeah, it does look like they're on backwards.
Uh, we'll figure it out, Smokey.
All right, Bill.
A little critical of a bear wearing a pair of pants.
It's a core board update.
He put them on.
Two questions left.
Uh, we've got a three-way top.
up in the top between Randall Nate and Brody.
Oh, I shouldn't have screwed up.
Behind them are Laura and Seth with five,
Corey with four,
and Logan with three.
Question nine,
the topic is hunting.
This next great question is via Charlie MacDonald.
The 300 WSM,
which debuted in 2001,
stands for Winchester,
Blank, Magnum.
Randall definitely doesn't happen.
Another confident.
The 300 WSM, which debuted in 2001, stands for Winchester Blank Magnum.
When I hosted trivia at the ELR match, some of our questions where we gave people like five different 30-Cal cartridges.
And we had people, you had to put them in order of their market debut.
Oh, that's cool.
Among one, among the 30 cows.
Okay.
Do you have an opinion you can share on the 300 WSM after this?
not firsthand
I had well
yeah I have thoughts but
I've never owned one
I owned a barrel
I owned an unfired barrel
Janice used them for use one
and then I sold the action
I was gonna put it on
and now I got another action like that
and I wish I still had that barrel
I was bad Winchester
Salt's the guy in Alaska
shit thing wasn't cheap
Is everybody ready
Go ahead and reveal your answers
Laura says
standard Logan and Seth and Randall and Corey and Nate and Brody say short the correct answer
is short the WSM family is a series of short action rifle cartridges introduced by
the winchette introduced by Winchester in the early 2000s these were made to rival traditional
long-action magnum ballistics in a short action gun of the newly formed cartridges the
300 WSM became the most popular to see how
it stacks up against more conventional rounds, go read Jordan Sillers article on the meat eater.com
called Calibur Battle.
30-odd-6 Springfield versus 300 Winchester Short Magnum.
All right, here's a correct answer review so far.
One was 1990.
Two, dispersed camping.
Three, pheasants forever.
Four, blackened fish.
Five, waterfowl production area.
Six, Lake Ontario.
Seven, Ripley's, believe it or not.
Eight, shovel.
Nine, Winchester short magnum, Phil.
Scoreboard update.
Randall, Nate and Brody, all got that one corrects.
So they're still tied up.
Now with seven points, Seth is just behind them with six.
Question 10.
The topic is fishing.
Oh, classic, dude.
I knew it.
Wells Catfish have been compared to killer whales
because of how they haunt their six-letter prey
on the banks of France's Tarn River.
Brody had his answer before I finish the question.
If Brody can get this one right and Nate and Randall can get it wrong,
he will be today's victor.
That pheasants forever questions haunt me.
Wells Catfish have been compared to killer whales
because of how they haunt their six-letter prey on the banks of France's Tarn River.
Seth, do you have this one right?
I don't know, but I've seen a video before.
Okay.
That's somehow it is.
Now I know.
Oh, really?
No.
Wells Catfish have been compared to killer whales
because of how they haunt their six-letter prey
on the banks of France's Tarn River.
Seth is watching every move that Randall makes.
He'll be watching you.
Every step you take, every breath you'd make.
I got to think about it for a second.
I'll show you.
Six-letter prey on the banks of France's Tarn River.
Do you have an answer, Randall?
Not yet.
I mean, I'm thinking of things that by rivers.
Okay.
Corey thinks he has it right now.
I got less pressure against me, though.
Nate needs to get this to stay even with Brody.
Nate, do you have an answer?
I got an answer, but I don't like it.
Okay.
It's a six-letter answer.
six-letter answer. It's singular. Not giving you any any more hints. Well's catfish have been compared
to killer whales because of how they hunt their six-letter prey on the banks of France's Tarn River.
Brody's in great spirits over here. He's doing a little jig. Maybe I got it wrong. Maybe I'm way off.
But I'll go down knowing I'm an angler unlike me. Okay. You don't have. Yeah, you got me.
How's it looking over there, Seth?
It's not great
He should be turning red at any moment
Okay
No, I don't care
Is everybody ready
Give me like 10 seconds
Okay
Laura do you have this one right
No
I'm pulling for you Randall
Boy it's been a while since that
Number 10 fishing question came through
Yeah
The tough thing as I've been thinking about Wells a lot
I actually saw some at a fish market
A Wells catfish
Yeah, some smaller ones.
Okay.
Like two and three footers.
Uh-huh.
But I've been thinking about them a lot.
Hmm.
Do you give up now?
Yeah.
Nate.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Laura, without an answer, Logan says,
shrimp.
Seth says pigeon.
Randall, rabbit,
Corey, salmon,
Nate, turtle, roadie, pigeon.
The correct answer.
answer is pigeon.
Brody got that one right, making him today's big winner.
And Seth, he's going to tie for second place.
You said you'd tie me today.
Yeah.
Remember that?
I knew this was rigged.
It was a good job.
Growing up to nine feet long and 300 pounds, the Wells catfish is Europe's biggest freshwater
fish.
They are native to Eastern Europe and Western Asia, but have been introduced to waters
across both continents.
Wells were put in the Tarn River in.
in the early 1980s and have been flourishing there ever since.
That unique population is famous for hunting pigeons on shore.
The catfish will wait in shallow water,
then propel themselves onto dry land to grab a pigeon
before slithering back into the river.
A 2011 study filmed 54 of these encounters,
of which 28% were successful.
This type of Wells catfish behavior has rarely been seen elsewhere.
So 28% of the time,
when one of those things goes for a pigeon on dry land,
they eat that pigeon.
I knew it was a bird, but I just couldn't think of a six-letter bird.
I was going through ducklings and ducks.
Yeah, because I told you, I couldn't think of a six.
What I should have put down a five-letter bird?
All right, Brody, it's day's winner, eight correct answers.
Do you think there's any correlation between the heat in this room and like the angstiness?
There might be.
No, it has to do with deadlines.
Brody, $500 donation.
What's it going to be?
Oh, let's go.
to Bezons Unlimited.
I mean,
