All right, this is a long one.
It's from Levi from Fort Collins.
I wasn't raised in a sportsman's family,
but over the last two years,
I've picked up archery elk hunting and have really come to love it.
The one thing I haven't found, however, is anyone to enjoy it with.
It seems like so much of hunting is meant to be shared,
the successes and failures, the stories around the campfire,
and even the whole lot of nothing that happens on an elk hunt.
I can handle and even appreciate a couple of days and nights away
from my wife, kids, and folks in general,
but as a pretty social person,
I often find myself wishing I had someone there to hunt with and talk to.
So I'm looking for some advice on how to deal with the loneliness of solo hunting for extended periods.
Yanni just got home from how many days?
So he's not looking for a way to find a hunting partner.
He's just looking for a way to the battle the loneliness.
It sounds like Levi is hoping a hunting partner comes around someday.
I'm guessing that's the ideal scenario.
But for now he's accepted.
He's just going to be by himself out there.
through the lonely boring patches.
Yeah.
That's hard for them.
Yeah.
Yanni just got home from like 20 day Elkunt, right?
You and one cameraman, right?
Yeah, it wasn't solo.
Okay.
But if you were solo, how would you kill that time on 20 days?
What would advise?
Certainly reading material.
Okay.
I think is a great way to go.
Small paperbacks.
That's what they were made for.
Yeah, or just these days download it to your phone.
P.
Yeah.
I actually, even with having a.
a camera guy with me the whole time.
I read a couple volumes of John Eberhard's new
DIY whitetail books.
Okay.
So you were looking for Elk.
A couple volumes.
Wow.
Yeah, it's a three-volume set.
Wow.
The one that just came out.
So you read two-thirds of it.
Yeah.
That's nice.
Yeah, large print, short books is, it's not too hard to do.
What else would I do to kill it?
Probably find a spot with some cell service,
call home every now and then.
You know.
Yonis is just telling you
you'd be on your phone more out there.
Yeah, well, and that, stay busy.
Okay.
You know, take naps.
Stay busy by taking naps.
Well, you do both.
There you go.
What other advice do we have for Levi?
Man, go into town once in a while.
There you go.
Get a burger, whatever.
Talk to some weirdos.
There's no, like, I don't know, like,
if he's hunting, like, a week at a time alone or whatever,
but, like, I mean,
Unless you're more than, I don't know, three, four hours away from home, you can hunt for a couple days and go home and go back.
You know, archery season's long.
Not with these gas prices.
Yeah.
True.
True.
Most places you're within like 30 minutes of a bar that serves bushlight and burgers and you go in there and you'll meet some locals, you'll meet some other hunters.
Maybe you'll meet a landowner, the right landowner.
I like Brod's advice.
Go into town, have a bushlight and a burger.
what else we got for Levi?
Randall?
Just bring a big book.
Just bring a big book that you wouldn't read
under any other circumstances.
It's the only thing you have.
Like mind games or like puzzles, like a stoku puzzle.
There you go.
Whatever.
That passes the time.
One thing I find myself doing is revisiting all of the choices I've made in my life.
That can make a hunt longer.
Just evaluating what,
The decisions I made and how they've led to where I am now.
If all the elk are hanging out on private, just walk down there across that ranch and talk to the rancher.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Go to the meat eater.com slash games.
We have games three days a week.
You can play crosswords, word search, me, Dieter Wordle.
That could keep you busy.
Deck of cards.
I play cribbage with friends when there's more than one of us.
I don't think you can play it alone, but...
Solitaire exists for a reason.
There's one-man card games.
All right.
Good luck, Levi.
play games, be on your phone more, take naps, read a book. That's our advice. All right, now we want to talk about
Whitetail Week. It's White Tail Week here at me, Dieter Yanni, tell folks what that means.
White Tail week, yeah, all things Whitetail going on right now at the website and all the content
that we're putting out this week is all whitetel-related. It's literally coming out of our ears to go
into your ears, maybe your eyes.
But one of the highlights of White Tale Week is that we have the ultimate White Telf giveaway.
The highlight.
Yeah, which is just a crazy prize package with the main chunk of it being a guided hunt with Mark Canyon and Jordan Budd's place in Nebraska.
So if you want more details about that, go to the Meat Eater store.
and you can check out all the White Tell gear we got.
And like I said, all the content that we got coming out this week to get y'all fired up for White Tell Hunt.
It's just around the corner to win that?
You just have to enter.
You're going to have to give us your name and your email, I think, Randall.
But they're not going to let you win.
Yeah, you can just go enter or for every $25 you spend, you get 20 additional entries instead of 10 for this week.
The giveaway goes now through October 12th, $23,000 in prizes we have,
with the big one being that guy to hunt at Jordan Budd's place.
White Hill Week happening right now.
All right, we now have some housekeeping on a previous episode.
I had a question about which of these world record bass is biggest between mean-mouth bass,
rock bass, white bass, and spotted bass.
The correct answer was mean-mouth bass with the world-record weight of eight and a half pounds.
And in the flavor text, I said,
how the spotted bass world record is two and a half pounds.
Well, a whole bunch of listeners wrote in telling me I was wrong and multiple said that they
themselves have caught spotted bass bigger than that.
Here's what those listeners are missing.
Two years ago, the International Game Fish Association, the definitive record keeper of
World Record Fish, made an announcement that spotted bass records are changing due to new science.
Here is part of that press release.
Quote, the IGFA is pleased to announce significant updates to bass records to bass records,
categories based on the latest scientific findings. These changes rooted in comprehensive research
and conservation efforts underscore the IGFA's commitment to maintaining accurate and current records
for game fish species ensuring a thriving future for the sport. The research highlighted several
key findings, particularly concerning the spotted bass and its close relative, the Alabama bass.
The study confirmed that many records previously attributed to spotted bass were in fact
Alabama bass. Consequently, the IGFA has corrected these records to reflect accurate species identification.
End of quote. So with these revised records, the spotted bass world record is a two and a half pound fish that was caught in Texas.
And the Alabama bass world record is an 11 pound fish that was caught in California.
That 11-pounder used to be the world record spotted bass until 2024 research showed that it wasn't actually a spotted bass at all.
and all that means that the eight and a half pound world record meat mouth is bigger than the other records mentioned in the question.
Wow.
So there we go.
So take that.
It was the most feedback I've ever gotten on a single question.
Is that right?
Probably the meanest feedback.
Yeah.
I'm not going to be mean to these listeners.
I'm not going to call them dumb.
I'm not going to call them idiots.
I'm not going to call them ignorant.
I will.
They were calling me.
But there you go.
Yeah, that was really controversial.
A lot of feedback.
People were even mean to Seth.
And just because Seth,
didn't question me hard enough.
They were like, how did Seth?
Monsters.
Not just punch him in the face when he gave that inaccurate information.
I figured there was some explanation for it, but I also figured everybody else,
there were enough people angry that there was more to it than that.
So close the book.
Boy, this is fascinating.
All right, the shall be next for today is a four, so our winner should get eight correct answers.
And with that, we're on to the game of trivia.
Play the drop, Phil.
Look, I need to know what I stand to win to everything.
Poor Seth.
How's that?
Just tend to win everything.
Question one, the topic is hunting, and this will be multiple choice.
Which of these states has the highest wild turkey population?
Is it Virginia, Oklahoma, Idaho, or Maine?
Of those states, which has the most wild turkeys?
Virginia, Oklahoma, Idaho, Maine.
No quick end.
answers on this one.
Question one.
Which of these states has the highest wild turkey population?
Virginia, Oklahoma, Idaho, Maine.
Brianna, Brody, Randall.
Laura, all locked in their answers.
Yanni's still thinking.
Virginia, Oklahoma, Idaho, or Maine.
Is everybody ready?
Yes, sir.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Brianna says Maine.
Laura, Virginia.
Randall.
Virginia.
Dane, Idaho, Yanni, Virginia, Brody, Virginia.
The correct answer is Virginia.
The room did well.
It's estimated that there are 180,000 turkeys in Virginia,
140,000 in Oklahoma, 70,000 in Maine, and 50,000 in Idaho.
The counties with the highest density of turkeys in Virginia are mostly located along the Chesapeake Bay in the eastern part of the state.
There's a map showing turkey density for Virginia.
Seems like every turkey in that state is drinking out of the James River or the Potomac River or the Chesapeake Bay.
All right, we're on a question two.
The topic is fishing.
This next great question is via Corey Bentoncourt.
Michael has Fredo executed while fishing on Lake Tahoe in this 1974 Oscar winning sequel.
Randall and Brody got it.
For other four players don't know it.
Michael has Fredo executed.
It's one of the most famous scenes in Hollywood history.
Oh, okay.
There's a hint.
In history.
In history.
Like, I'm not lying.
Yeah, he's not wrong.
You want the sequel.
You should tell me the sequel.
Yeah.
Michael has Fredo executed while fishing on Lake Tahoe in this 1974 Oscar-winning sequel.
Brody and Randall.
Very quick to answer.
Brody gave a heavy hint, and now Yanni's come up with his answer.
Did Brody's feedback help you there?
No.
Okay.
No.
It seems like a generational thing.
Yeah.
Brianna's calling everybody else old.
We're a real cinemophile.
It would be sad if you guys haven't seen it.
That's for sure.
Like, Phil would be really mad at you.
Oh, wow.
I think.
Is that true?
Oh, I don't disappoint Phil.
Phil looks furious over there.
I can't see it.
There's steam.
I'm just torn on which one.
Michael has Fredo executed while fishing on Lake Tahoe in this 1974 Oscar winning sequel.
Not really.
Not really.
Okay.
This is Josh.
All I can think about right now is Dune.
Yeah.
Dune 3.
I haven't seen Dune 1 or 2 yet.
Oh, you read the books, though?
I just read the books.
Big book boy.
Oh, all I can think about is sequels right now.
So many Dune books.
Philor, have you read the books and seen the movies?
Only seen the movies.
I started Dune in high school and it was just too esoteric and funny for me at the time.
I think if I gave it a shot now, I'd enjoy it.
I think it's right in your Q zone.
It's pretty narrow key zone, but it's deep.
Michael has Fredo executed while fishing on Lake Tahoe in this 1974 Oscar winning sequel.
Do our other three players give up?
Yeah, do I do.
My wife always gives me a hard time.
that I fall asleep during movies.
And this is about the only time it hurts me.
You think this movie's been on at your house before?
Probably.
He wouldn't know.
Yeah, I wouldn't know.
I've watched the first 15 minutes of it, maybe.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Rihanna and Laura without an answer, Randall, Godfather, two.
Dane without an answer, Yanni and Brody, the Godfather, too.
They got it.
The correct answer is The Godfather, Part Two.
Prior to Fredo's execution, Fredo tells his nephew that he wants to show him his secret fishing trick that he learned as a boy in Brooklyn.
Fredo says that if you recite a Hail Mary every time you cast your line, you're sure to catch a fish.
But Frater's nephew is pulled from the boat by his dad, Michael, before leaving the dock.
This is so that Frato can be alone with Al, his soon-to-be assassin, then on the water, while Fredo is fishing and praying.
Al kills him.
Question three, the topic is Wildlife.
The blank salamander, which is named after its stripes, is the state amphibian of Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, and Wyoming.
Rodi, quick to answer again, the blank salamander, which is named after its stripes is the state amphibian of Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, and Wyoming.
We had one of these crawl across our porch one night when I was back in Colorado.
Real treat every time I get to see one of these things.
It's really tickled.
It's always surprising.
When you see, I feel like any salamander, you usually like,
what are you doing here?
This is Colorado.
The arid west.
The blank salamander, which is named after its stripes,
is the state amphibian of Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, and Wyoming.
Randall doesn't seem to know the salamanders down there.
No, I don't.
Rihanna, do you have this one right?
I think I went with one type of stripes and I think it's wrong.
Okay.
I'm doubting myself.
Laura, do you have this one right?
No.
No, I don't.
Dane, do you know your salamanders?
I don't know if it's right, but I'm thinking of animals that also have stripes.
Makes sense, okay.
The blank salamander, which is named after its stripes, is the state amphibian of Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, and Wyoming.
Rangel is trying to get inside of my head.
Is it working?
Are you in there, Randall?
I'm going to reverse inception of you.
Randall was telling me that you boys had hot dogs for lunch.
We did?
And they were, uh, Randall said they were too big.
Well, they're too big to eat two for lunch.
Oh.
Okay.
So one would.
I only had one.
Got it.
I'm feeling pretty good.
I didn't hear that point.
I'm, I had two.
I'm not feeling very good.
You got to edge up on them then.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
I don't know what really prompted it.
Is that? No, I do know. It's Randall. It's like I was never really a hot dog eater, but kind of hanging out with Randall, I've become more of a hot dog eater. And like this, that 20 day hunt I was just on, I bet you the crew and I, we probably ate close to a hundred hot dogs and Broadway. And Randall wasn't even there. No. That's just a symptom of hanging out with him. It is a great camp meal. I mean, it's just like. Bear hunting in the spring, I'll just put my grill on my tailgate and you just grill as many hot dogs as you want. Yeah. They're practically free.
Have you ever done one?
Have you ever done one in a jet boil?
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Like putting them in a thermos.
Yeah.
Keep them hot.
Do you drink the dog water after?
No.
No, he's not a pervert.
Randallet,
isn't that a limp biscuit album?
Don't they say, have something about the heart?
Yeah, we should probably stop talking about it.
Is everybody ready?
I have to put an explicit tag on this.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Oh, damn.
Rihanna says the zebra salamander.
Laura says Tiger, Randall Zebra, Dane Tiger.
I didn't even think of Tiger.
Brody Tiger.
The correct answer is the Tiger Salamander.
I'll chalk that one up to the dogs.
Tiger salamanders are found across the country besides New England.
The eastern tiger salamander is the largest land-dwelling salamander on the continent,
Growing up to 13 inches long, they spend most of their life underground, only appearing topside after heavy rains or during their breeding migrations.
There is a tiger salamander for your viewing pleasure.
Stripe.
I mean, he looks more of like a leopard.
Some of them have more blotches.
Some of them are just solid colors.
Some have stripes just like a tiger.
I see it on the tail.
This one's more spotted than striped, I'd say.
Question four, the topic is woodsmanship.
This nine-letter word refers to, quote,
a long stretch of unmaintained dirt road
that is corrugated by closely spaced ripples.
That is a definition I got from the University of New Mexico.
This nine-letter word refers to a long stretch
of unmaintained dirt road that is corrugated by closely spaced ripples.
And this is question four.
that's a lot of letters
Brianna
seems to have it
okay
Brody's got an answer
Randall and Dane have answers
Yanni's still playing hangman
did you come up with it Yanni
I believe so
nine letter word
refers to a long stretch
of unmaintained
dirt road
that is corrugated
by closely spaced ripples
yep
I think that's dangerous
if you go too fast on it
I believe I was doing some driving
on said roads in the last couple weeks.
Okay.
You could give me
150 opportunities to describe this
if I have it right.
And I would never come up with that sequence of words.
Yeah. Yeah, that is a unique way to describe this.
Laura?
Nope.
Laura, you know it.
I can't think of what the word is.
Nine-letter word refers to a long-stretch
of unmaintained dirt road
that is corrugated by closely spaced ripples.
Yeah, that's what you do.
That's how you maintain.
I'm digging into my...
Not, not... I'm digging into my
recent experiences
an HOA board member here.
Okay, this is a word that comes up there.
Yeah. They are dangerous.
The only thing we do.
I was just in Canada,
and if you go about 40 to 45 miles an hour,
your back end starts.
doing that.
Kilometers though.
Yeah, probably like 150 kilometers.
I don't know.
Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal
your answers.
The whole room, besides Laura,
says washboard, they got it.
The correct answer is washboard.
The name comes from the road
resembling an old-fashioned washboard.
The rippling is the result of dry weather
and the continuous friction created by tires.
When a vehicle hits a small bump or dip, the tire briefly bounces in the air, then when it lands, it displaces loose dirt to form another bump or dip.
This process becomes a repeating cycle that ultimately forms the washboard conditions.
Question five, the topic is conservation.
This next great question is via Leland Hart.
This state is home to the most national forests, including Lassen National Forest and Mendocino National Forest.
This state is home to the most national forests, including Lassen National Forest and Mendocino National Forest.
Yanni, Brody, Randall, all locked in.
Laura, do you have this one right?
I hope so.
Okay, Laura's got this one as well.
Dane joining them.
This state has the most national forests.
Laura and Yanni, do you guys agree on what the answer is based on that I content?
Our telepathy.
Yeah.
Do you guys have the same thing?
I think so.
I don't know.
This state is home to the most national forests,
including Lassen National Forest and Mendo Cino National Forest.
Brianna, I'm waiting on you.
The rest of the room thinks they have it.
I know.
Is it like the most area of Matt or just the most name?
Just the most of them.
The most numbers of them.
Mm-hmm.
The highest number.
Of separate national.
Mm-hmm.
Dane, do you have this one,
Right.
50, 50.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Breonna says New Mexico.
Laura and Randall say California.
Dane says Colorado.
Yanni and Brody say California.
The correct answer is California.
California has 18 national forests the most in the nation.
That's followed by Idaho with 15, Oregon and Colorado with 11 and Montana with 10.
despite Alaska having just two national forests,
it has the most acres of national forests
with one million more than California.
All right, we're halfway through to today's game.
Phil, give us a scoreboard update.
We've got two perfect games running right now
between Yannis and Brody.
Randall's one point behind them with four.
Yeah, it was the salamander question.
I'm sorry.
Laura has three.
Dane has two.
Brianna has one.
When you're in the bush,
splitting up is often part of the plan.
Maybe you're covering opposite sides of a cut block,
working through thick cover,
or heading into different directions from camp.
Onex hunts location sharing makes that easy.
Up to 10 people can see each other's live positions
on the same map refreshing about every five seconds.
Split up and focus on the hunt,

Question six, the topic is wildlife.
Modern competitors in the blank run, which is an illegal automobile race that goes
from New York to California, equip their vehicles with thermal scopes to avoid deer.
Either copied this question incompletely, Spencer.
Or you updated it.
I did not update it.
This was just a wrong copy and paste.
modern competitors in the blank run, which is an illegal automobile race that goes from New York to California,
equip their vehicles with thermal scopes to avoid deer.
You're seeing me do work in real time here.
Well done, Phil.
All right, Brody, you have this one right?
I think so.
Randall, you have this one right.
I think so.
Yanni just had a phone call, and now he's going back to his whiteboard.
There's a message on the Slack asking people to make.
their trucks.
Oh, okay.
I don't think it's any of our trucks, though.
I parked in a spot that had suspicious
Oh, wait. Yeah.
Space over there.
Okay, yeah. I can move mine after this.
Tell them I'll be out in 30 minutes.
Modern competitors in the blank run,
which is an illegal automobile race that goes from New York
to California, equip their vehicles with thermal scopes to avoid deer.
Kind of bummed out with how many people using their phones at the table right now.
I just want to throw that out there.
It's kind of well-known etiquette
and for technical reasons.
And just for a good show for Spencer's sake.
Thanks for the reminder, Phil.
I haven't been able to stop using my phone lately.
Mine's on do not disturb.
The boss,
a.k.a. my gal,
she was calling.
I had to let her know for deep in trivia.
Did we not use to see part of this run
come through Colorado at times?
Do you remember that
when there'd be like a bunch of fans?
fancy cars in town for a couple of days
and I don't remember that.
I remember, I mean, this isn't the kind of run that would
stop. Yeah, no. That might have just been
plutocrats. And usually it's just
one vehicle and no one knows about
it until it's over.
I actually know a lot about this.
I've never heard about this. Okay.
Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal your
answers, Brianna and Laura, without an
answer. The rest of the room says
the cannonball run. They got it.
The correct answer is the
cannonball runs. One of the greatest movies of all time. I used this word in a text message to Cory
Culkins yesterday. Okay. I said if you need me to make a cannonball run out. Wow, all right. Canaan
runs have been going on since 1914 but didn't get mainstream attention until the 1981 movie starring
Bert Reynolds. The current record for making it from New York to L.A., which is the distance of
2,813 miles, was set in 2025.
That team of drivers made the journey in 25 hours and 39 minutes with an average speed of 112 miles per hour.
In a 2017 record attempt, a cannonball runner struck a white tail in Illinois that brought their race to an end.
Today, most cannonball run vehicles have a passenger using image stabilizer binoculars in a dashboard monitor attached to thermoscopes to identify deer on the road.
Cannonball run
Question seven
The topic is hunting
This man
Who wrote fear and loathing in Las Vegas
Stole a set of elk antlers
From Ernest Hemingway's home
In 1964
Brody, Yanni
Randall confidently
I was in a bar
At the same time as this man one time
Oh okay
How'd that go down
Good I mean he kind of holds court
He held court
in that spot.
Did he recognize you?
No.
Oh.
He would have no reason
to recognize me at that time.
Pull the gun on him anyway.
Was this in Fort Collins?
No.
No.
I'll tell.
I'll tell you.
This man who wrote
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
stole a set of
elk antlers from Ernest Hemingway's
home in 1964.
Laura, do you have this one right?
I think so.
When did you?
No.
Don't ask yet.
Yeah.
I know what you're thinking.
I never read.
Fear and loathing in Los Vegas.
Stole a set of elk antlers from Ernest Hemingway's home in 1964.
Randall, have you read it?
No, I haven't, actually.
Brody, have you read it?
Nope.
No.
I was hoping you could tell me if the book or the movie was better.
Which is weird, because we're both big drug guys.
I know.
Yeah.
All kinds of them.
The movie is great.
And then all of a sudden it goes whack-a-doodle.
And you're like, what?
Is the whole movie not just whack-a-doodle?
You've seen it?
No, I feel like there's a real turning point.
It's kind of like Escanab in the moonlight.
Where you're like, okay, I'm tracking.
And then you're like, what?
Yeah.
Happened.
Is everybody ready?
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Brianna without an answer.
Laura says, Jack London.
Randall, Hunter S. Thompson.
Dane without an answer.
Yanni and Brody, Hunter S.
Thompson.
The correct.
answer is Hunter S. Thompson. To be fair, she said Jack Kerouac.
When did he die?
I feel like it's much close. Her board was upside down.
I just guessing. I just didn't want any.
I'll tell you in my flavor text here.
Thompson was visiting Hemingway's Ketchum Idaho home while on assignment for the National Observer.
The article was about where Hemingway chose to spend his final years before killing himself in
1961. Thompson's writing references, quote, a big pair of elk horns over the front door.
But he never mentions that he then stole them.
Hunter's wife, Anita, returned the elk rack after Thompson also killed himself in 2005.
She said Hunter was deeply embarrassed by the theft and hoped to someday quietly place them back in the home.
The Hemingway family was reportedly, quote, warm, grateful, and kind of tickled when Anita returned the antlers.
And there is a picture of the Hemingway family with the stolen set of elk antlers that Anita
returned. I think it was in 2016.
So it was 11, 11 years.
Busted that nose off of there.
It was already busted. I was going to say
classic busted nose
on a European.
So Hemingway killed
himself in 61. Thompson was
doing the assignment in 64. That's when he
stole them. Thompson killed himself
in 2005 and then I think it was
2016 when his wife returned
the ambulance. Yeah, he was into Woody
Creek Tavern outside of Aspen
one time when I was in there. He used to hang out
there a lot.
Question eight.
Question eight, the topic is woodmanship.
This is our listener question of the week, which was won by Sam Padilla for sending
this great question.
Sam is going to get a $150 first light gift card.
If you want a chance to win the listener question of the week, then send your question
to trivia at the meat eater.com.
This word, which also refers to a turkey's body part, is defined as, quote, a short ridge
or area of high ground that sticks out from the side of a.
hill or mountain.
Randall, quick to answer.
Yanni joining him, Brody joining him for question eight.
This word, which also refers to a turkey's body part, is defined as a short ridge or area of high ground that sticks out from the side of a hill or mountain.
We'll get a scoreboard update from Phil after this.
I'm feeling very uncultured today.
I don't think this one's a matter of culture.
Yeah, this is the other one.
This is birds. Just straight birds, man.
No interest.
You know what would make you feel better is to keep telling Randall how old he is, though.
Not yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.
Are you going hunting later or you're just doing casual camo today?
Casual camo most days.
Most days?
Yeah, I like camo.
Okay.
This word.
Yanni's judging you.
Which also refers to a turkey's body part is defined as a short,
or area of high ground that sticks out
from the side of a hill or mountain.
And by the way, I think we covered this
before we started recording, but we all are thrilled
and welcome the return of Yanni sleeves to the program.
It's been the first time in months.
If you're listening in your vehicle.
You're thrilled?
Kiss you toe.
Just the less skin at trivia, the better, I think.
Yeah.
It's a general rule.
Also, some very white skin.
It would be kind of blinding off of Phil's helping.
I just felt like we were kind of,
of trending in two different directions.
And now I feel like we're back sort of in the same culture.
Okay.
What was the other direction?
Folks covering up more?
No, I was just like wearing sleeves.
And Yanni was just getting further and further away from that.
Well, you probably have six or eight months.
Yep.
No, gone's going back out.
Your streams will cross paths, though, at some point.
And then Randall's going to go sleepless.
And Brody, no, it's not a good look on me.
That's the thing.
It's not a good look on.
look. It's comfort.
It's a lifestyle. Yeah, I'm not
at war with my sleeves, man. I don't feel
like they're hindering comfort.
You just haven't tried sleeveless yet. I sure have,
and I just don't think. I don't think. I haven't seen you
ever wear sleeveless. This word, which also
refers to a turkey's body part, is defined as a short
rigged area of high ground. I'm kind of like
scared. I don't know. I have a secondary answer.
Oh, good. I'm hoping that you don't. I need you to fall.
alter here. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Brianna says gobble. Laura says comb.
Randall says, Spur, Dane Spur, Yanni Spur, Brody Spur. The correct answer is Spur.
What was your second guess, Brody?
I didn't have one. Oh, didn't someone say that? I did. Like, what about snoot?
I don't think I'd find that definition.
Yeah. It's the reason I didn't write it. It's a body part on a turkey. It is a
body part and it could be
you start calling it that
and then I'll ask this question a year from now and there'll be
two answers it could resemble a
area that sticks out
from the side of a mountain I was
creeping down the snood
and the
the butt jumped up a spur usually
offers a more gentle way off
a mountain making it a popular place
for trails both human and game
on a topographic map spurs
usually show up as a
you or V shape that points away
from the mountain and towards the valley.
All right, Phil, two questions left.
Give us a scoreboard update.
Randall's still being haunted by the mythical zebra salamander.
Shut up.
He's one point behind Janice and Brody who have eight points,
and those are the three players left in the game.
I've got to dig myself out of a hole here.
Nine, the topic is fishing.
What river flows through Niagara Falls?
Oh, gosh.
What river flows through Niagara Falls?
Brody knows it. He grew up in that part of the country.
Gianni's got a blank whiteboard.
Dang.
Randall, do you have this one?
I think so.
Brody, he has his whiteboard down.
Brody, do you have this one?
Again, I'm scared.
He put it down pretty softly, which is.
He's a measure of his confidence, it seems like.
What river flows through Niagara Falls?
Flows over.
Over it.
Yep.
Through it.
It's a grandmother's house.
I wonder if anyone's tried to ride down that thing lately.
Oh.
That was a cool moment in culture.
Guys are just like, put me in a barrel.
I'll give it a shot.
I wonder if I'll die.
What river flows through Niagara Falls?
Yanni, do you have an answer?
I got a couple in my head.
You just tell me when I got a right one down.
You're running out of time.
My parents got married at Niagara Falls.
It was like a thing back in the day.
On land or on a boat?
Oh, I'm sure on land.
I don't think they would have been.
I would have forward the boat.
I mean, I'm just like going off.
But it was like a place to like go get married and do your honeymoon back in the day.
Maybe they didn't get married there.
I think they had their honeymoon there maybe.
I'll have to ask my dad.
I'll add that to our list of honeymoon destination.
Yeah, you should.
You should.
Or Bora, Bora or.
Yanni, run out of time.
Laura, are you going to come up with the river for us?
No, I'm not.
No.
What river flows through Niagara Falls?
This is question nine.
Yannis.
I hate writing down a wrong answer.
especially when you get that perfect game going.
Only once before we've had overtime with multiple perfect games.
We could see it again today.
Brody is snickering.
Or they could falter.
We could get overtime.
Triple overtime.
I'm right.
I was snickering at my wrong answer.
You got to think of another river.
You got time to rethink that one, Yonnas?
Nope.
Yanni.
Are you ready?
No, I'm not.
I'm not going to.
Well, let me all right.
Reveal your answers.
We have Brianna saying
The Niagara
Laura without an answer
Randall St. Lawrence
Danne Hudson
Yanni, Detroit
Brody, Niagara
The correct answer
is the Niagara River
Oh yes
You had me scared
Prudy and Brianna
How often is the answer
That makes sense
Not the word on the question
Try to help in you guys
Did you write that down? No
The Niagara
River is 36 miles long, flowing from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
The upper stretch is known for its walleye, small mouth, pike, musky, and perch.
The lower stretch is famous for its king salmon, co-host salmon, steelhead, lake trout, and brown trout.
The river has produced the Ontario record for walleye and the New York record for white bass.
All right, here's a correct answer review so far.
One was Virginia.
Two, The Godfather, Part Two.
three, tiger salamander, four, washboard, five, California, six, cannonball run, seven, Hunter S. Thompson, eight, spur, nine, Niagara River.
Phil, scoreboard update.
Brody has pulled ahead. He's got nine points and a perfect game still going into question 10, which I think historically he's got pretty good track record on.
Just throw that out there.
Yannis is one point behind him with eight and Randall's got seven.
Question 10, the topic is cooking.
Biloxi, which is located in this state, was known as the seafood capital of the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Randall, he put down his whiteboard quick, but not as quick as Brody, who seems to have the perfect game.
He knows it.
Biloxi, which is located in this state, was known as the seafood capital of the world in the
late 19th and early 20th centuries.
I like that movie, Biloxi Blues.
I was a kid.
Oh, not familiar.
Maybe that makes his question too easy.
I didn't know a movie existed with this in the title.
I think it was some kind of a war time.
You remember that movie?
You're thinking of Memphis Bell?
No.
It's another southern city.
Phil, Phil, can you weigh in here?
I think of thinking of sleepless in Seattle.
No, I thought Memphis.
This bell was actually pretty on the nose.
This is wartime.
Same region.
Biloxi, which is located in this state,
was known as the seafood capital of the world
in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
I better not type in Biloxi
because it's going to auto film.
I gave a clue, I guess.
Get your phone out of here.
What are you doing?
Another maybe honeymoon destination.
We'll pull up the movie for me, Phil.
Keep this on the list.
Is everybody ready?
Yes, hopefully Brody has it wrong.
Come on.
If she wants to.
Wrong for Brody.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
She's racing.
We're going to get out of her time.
Go ahead and reveal your answers.
Breonna says Washington, Laura, Mississippi,
Randall, Mississippi, Dane, Louisiana,
Yanni and Brody, Mississippi.
The correct answer is Biloxi Mississippi.
Brody got it right.
He's got the perfect.
game and today's victory.
At the height of Biloxi's seafood industry in 1902, the town processed 6 million pounds of oysters
and 5 million pounds of shrimp.
But the Great Depression and both World Wars slowed production and crippled exports, forcing
several factories to close.
Then hurricanes in the 1960s and 1980s decimated more factories, docks, and nearby
oyster beds.
And finally, a pivot to legalized gambling in the 90s.
brought casinos to Biloxi and changed the city's economy almost overnight.
That's all I could think.
That's the only point of reference.
You've been to Biloxi.
No, no, I just know that you gamble there.
A lot of gambled in there.
Matthew Broderick stars, 1988, 1988, military comedy drama.
What's it called?
Biloxi Blues.
Blocci Blues.
I already told you that for it.
Yanni knew it.
Yeah.
All right, Brody, what are we going to do with the $1,000 donation for a perfect game?
I think this is our second, maybe third perfect game.

he gets to double the donation from
