New details coming to light regarding Sunday's deadly Amazon cargo plane crash at Miami
International Airport.
Prime Air Flight 7598, overrunning the runway shortly before 2 p.m., striking multiple vehicles on the ground per officials at a press conference on Sunday.
Five people losing their lives due to the Boeing 767 crash when the plane hit a van, carrying a cleaning crew of 7 and an SUV with an unspecified number of people in it, according to the NTSB.
during a press conference Monday NTSB chair, Jennifer Hammondy, explaining more of what transpired upon landing.
What we know so far is the flight was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with two crew members on board.
This was the third flight for that aircraft yesterday, went from Cincinnati to Miami, Miami to San Juan, and San Juan back to Miami.
Overran runway
3-0 on landing struck navigational aids and equipment
then impacted a 2012
white Ford Econnell Line van
that was owned by professional
Ocean Service Corporation
which is a contract cleaning company for the airlines
in the van were seven persons on board
the aircraft then traveled through a perimeter fence
and impacted a Toyota Corolla cross LE.
In total, it was about 1,300 feet past the paved surface.
Three people remain in critical condition, two others hospitalized with less severe injuries.
The only two people aboard the plane, the pilot, and co-pilot both survived,
although it is unclear if they were injured in the crash, according to the New York Times.
Fire officials explaining,
the scene they arrived to on Sunday. What we found was a very complex situation here. As you may
have seen or may have heard, the airplane did strike a couple of vehicles that required a couple
of victims that were actually trapped in the vehicles. So a complex extrication with our technical
rescue team started to occur. In addition to that, we had a very complex fire engine compartments
that were on fire, including a search and rescue of the pilot and co-pilot that were trapped
in this aircraft.
Video of the landing appeared to show the plane staying airborne well past the normal touchdown area,
raising questions about why pilots did not attempt a second landing.
NTSB investigators are examining the weather conditions and the plane's speed, breaks, and mechanical history,
including the fact that the 32-year-old jet had passed through several previous owners
before being converted from passenger to cargo use in 2015.
Here's Hamondi again.
begun collecting investigative information we do have data and information but we are very
thorough fact-based agency and we don't release that information until we have verified it
and are able to provide that verified information to the public which we hope to do with much
of the information tomorrow we were able to recovery the flight data recover the
flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder that is going back to the NTSB tonight
in just a couple of hours and will be at headquarters where it can be evaluated and downloaded.
Some aviation experts noting the strong winds and a possible tailwind may be contributing
factors behind the plane floating farther down the runway than normal.
Miami's airport, unlike more than 120 others nationwide, does not have a runway arrest
system, which is designed to stop an aircraft that travels past a runway or that experiences
break failure. The crash forcing the closure of two of the airport's four runways into Monday,
with more than 150 flights canceled and hundreds more delayed. The flight was operated by 21 Air
on behalf of Amazon, which says it is cooperating fully with investigators. The NTSB saying it expects
to release more findings, including confirmed speed data from the flight recorder, as early as today.
A disturbing case out of Illinois, a mother allegedly killing her two-year-old son, just hours after
discussing the Lindsay Clancy case in a group text message with her friends.
40-year-old Corey Walsh facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of her son Barrett,
according to police. Per court documents obtained by CNN,
a neighbor discovering Barrett hanging in the basement last Tuesday afternoon with a ligature bound
around his neck. The neighbor immediately lowering Barrett and beginning CPR while calling 911,
paramedics pronouncing the child dead at the scene, while an autopsy later confirming he died
of asphyxiation per CNN. The neighbor finding Walsh upstairs, lying in a bathtub full of bloody water,
trying allegedly to commit suicide, according to court documents.
She is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three other children in the home were found safe.
Walsh allegedly telling officers at the scene that she killed her son because he was,
quote, the devil and, quote, the Antichrist, according to local outlet Fox 32.
While hospitalized, Walsh reportedly giving investigators an account of the killing that matched
evidence found at the scene. The case drawing immediate parallels to the much publicized
Lindsay Clancy case, the Massachusetts mother who strangled her three children with exercise cords.
Clancy's lawyers arguing she was legally insane at the time due to postpartum psychosis,
with a mistrial declared in the case on Friday after jurors deadlocked following seven days
of deliberations. According to ABC 7 Chicago, Walsh's lawyer similarly claiming that Walsh was going
through a psychotic episode before killing her young son. As CBS Chicago News legal analyst,
Irv Miller says, the fact that Walsh was texting about the Clancy case hours before killing
her son will be key to this case. That'll be the first thing they say in opening statement,
the first piece of evidence they introduce, and the first and last thing they say in closing argument.
That's how important it is. As you don't want jurors that are so familiar with the Clancy case,
they're going to use that either for or against the defendant in Will County.
Neighbors who live near the Walsh home telling CBS Chicago how this has shaken the community as a whole.
It's very quiet in Frankfurt.
I mean, you rarely ever hear about anything of the sort.
So it's a bit much.
And this is just absolutely heartbreaking to understand what happened a couple blocks away
and that it's impacting our community.
It's gut-wrenching to understand that a little, little two-year-old,
could be the victim of such a horrific event.
It just makes us very sad and devastated for the family
and devastated for those children.
Walsh currently held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility
with a detention hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
Prosecutors are asking a judge to deny her pretrial release.
Coming up, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Ohio is okay
after an armed man charges through a crowd toward her.
And President Trump, fresh off of renaming Lake Ontario, Lake America,
appearing to set his sights on New Mexico.
We are still a couple months out, but the midterms are fast approaching and make no mistake.
If the House flips, it is a big deal for our economy.
That uncertainty is one of the many reasons to consider diversifying with gold from Birch Gold Group.
In the three months leading up to the 2024 presidential election, the price of gold jumped over 12%.
Why? Because it's a hedge against uncertainty, of course. If you don't own gold, consider talking
to birch gold. They're going to discuss your goals and explain how precious metals can fit into your

A 38-year-old Ohio man is in police custody after lunging at Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair on Sunday.
Local outlets identifying the man as Patrick Havas. Mahoning County Sheriff, Jerry Green, telling 21 News,
Havas, was carrying two concealed firearms and brass knuckles when he pushed his way through the crowd,
knocking down two older adults.
Here, a witness further detailing the incident to local outlet, WLWT.
When she entered in the crowd of people that were here,
were excited to see her.
So she came into the center of the group and was shaking hands and so forth.
And while she was talking, this assailant came into our tent,
pushed through the crowd, knocked two older people.
And I say older, I'm 74.
They were in their 80s.
Knocked them to the ground.
Well, luckily, a highway patrolman and one of our candidates was able to grab him, get him out of the tent, and put the handcuffs on him out there.
The Mahoney County Sheriff's Office telling 21 News, Havis was confronted by Acton's security team, made up of Ohio State troopers, then apprehended.
Havis never brandishing his guns in the incident, Canfield Fair Police taking him into custody from
there, according to the outlet. Acton, a physician, was unharmed, staying on scene to help one of those
injured. The Democratic candidate for governor addressing the incident yesterday.
We had a rough day yesterday. I'm so thankful to our first responders and our state highway patrol
and everyone who helped out the people who were injured and our parents are with them.
I am a fierce warrior in this fight.
exactly why I'm running. I refuse to look the other way like people didn't look the other way
when I was a struggling kid in Youngstown, Ohio. I won't look the other way, and you are refusing
to look the other way. We refuse to look the other way while bad actors and special interests
keep taking us backwards. It is time for change in Ohio.
It is time. Let's do this.
Acton's campaign further emphasizing that sentiment, giving the following statement,
quote, this kind of violence has no place in Ohio.
Dr. Acton will always stand up to the chaos, hate, and vitriol that pits us against one another.
Acton's Republican opponent Vivek Ramoswamy, with whom she is in a statistical tie for the governor's mansion, condemning the incident.
Political violence has no place in America, period.
Full stop. The threat of political violence has no place in America. Full stop. I don't care what
party you are. I don't care what your partisan beliefs are. That's a hard line, hard principle.
Vigorous debate, yes, that's important. And I think we do need to have vigorous debate in a civil way.
That's the way we demonstrate who we are as leaders. And it's up to us to set that example for the rest of the state.
And I hope the rest of the country to follow.
Havis now facing two assault charges and a disorderly conduct charge, no weapons charges have been filed.
President Trump once again teasing a rewrite of the map.
Amidst a frenzy of Sunday truth social posts, the president sharing multiple images suggesting a new name for New Mexico,
dubbing it New America.
The posts, which contain only images and no words written by the president, drawing much scrutiny from New Mexico.
officials. New Mexico's governor, Michelle Lujan, Cresham, criticizing the president's policies and saying
her state's name is not up for debate. Quote, while the president tries to distract Americans from
his disastrous war on Iran, gas prices keep soaring. Americans are also spending more at the grocery
store, losing access to health care, and wondering if they will ever be able to afford a home.
Democratic U.S. senator for New Mexico, Martin Heinrich, writing, quote, three things I will always call by
their actual names, the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Ontario, New Mexico. Mr. Trump making geographical
rebrands a fairly regular part of his second term, ordering the Gulf of Mexico to be renamed
the Gulf of America, and more recently amid ongoing tensions with Canada when it comes to trade,
signing an executive order to rename Lake Ontario, Lake America. But as the New York Times reports,
a state's legal name is a different matter entirely. Changing it requires action well beyond
to presidential order, likely involving the state legislature and its constitution.
According to the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Interior Department, in the 16th century, long before
the founding of the U.S., Mexicans called the territory north and west of the Rio Grande, New Mexico.
The first page of the state's constitution also reads, quote, the name of this state is New Mexico,
and its boundaries are as follows. The president posting various other attention.
and grabbing images, including one reshaping Iran's borders into the outline of his own head.
Another image posted by Mr. Trump shows a picture of the moon with the words,
The Moon is ours.
The White House has not indicated whether it intends to advocate for any official action on the New Mexico name change.
