A terrifying attempted hijacking reportedly unfolding aboard a passenger jet,
carrying more than 170 people from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
Israeli officials say the co-pilot stabbed the pilot and apparently tried to crash the plane.
The chaos beginning roughly two and a half hours after fly Dubai flight 1073 left Dubai early Wednesday morning.
The Associated Press reporting a fight broke out between the two pilots, one of them armed with a knife.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the attacker stabbed the other pilot and, quote,
apparently just tried to crash the plane with everyone on board.
The jet then suddenly plunging, dropping from roughly 33,000 feet to 17,000 feet in about a minute,
according to AP's review of Flight Radar 24 data.
As the emergency unfolded, Flight Radar 24 reporting the plane first began broadcasting
Squawk 7700, the International Code for a General Emergency. Minutes later, the code switching to
Squawk 7500, signaling unlawful interference aboard the aircraft and a possible hijacking.
Reuters reporting the wounded pilot had apparently managed to release the cockpit door before collapsing,
allowing people outside to get in. A passenger and crew member reportedly rushing into the cockpit
and subduing the alleged attacker as others helped secure the flight deck.
Do other fly Dubai pilots who were traveling aboard the flight, then move.
moving into the cockpit, taking control of the Boeing 737 Max and stabilizing the aircraft.
Israel reportedly scrambling fighter jets as officials feared the passenger plane had been hijacked.
The fly Dubai pilots ultimately diverting to Book in northwestern Saudi Arabia,
landing safely roughly an hour after the aircraft first began its dramatic descent.
Saudi officials saying both pilots were taken for medical treatment,
video taken by passengers aboard the plane showing two bloodied men on the floor of the aircraft,
as people rendered medical aid and guarded the cockpit.
Indian National Captain Schmidt-Muchchchir taken to the hospital after the stabbing,
the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia saying he is in stable condition,
all passengers reportedly escaping without serious injury.
After roughly eight hours on the ground in Saudi Arabia,
the passengers finally leaving aboard a replacement fly Dubai aircraft.
That plane, arriving at Bangoran Airport outside Tel Aviv Wednesday evening,
passengers greeted by cheering family members as people aboard
reportedly sang and chanted after surviving the ordeal.
Netanyahu praising the passengers and crew who stepped in to stop the attack in this translated clip.
I salute those heroes who were resourceful and discovered resourcefulness and saved the plane.
Netanyahu saying the pilot accused of carrying out the stabbing was arrested after landing
and has been questioned by Saudi authorities.
Reuters reporting an Israeli official identified the alleged attacker as an Omani national
a motive has not yet been established, Israeli officials investigating whether the incident was terrorism.
One Israeli security official telling CBS news, authorities are examining whether the co-pilot
was attempting a 9-11-style attack and whether anyone else was involved.
We spoke with retired, decorated U.S. Navy F.A. 18 fighter pilot and top gun graduate,
Whiz Buckley, who says the first major question is how someone suspected of trying to bring down an
Israel-bound passenger jet was ever allowed into that cockpit.
who's in the front of the airplane obviously is a big deal i just i'm shocked to be honest with you this is
this is a this is a salute failure of israeli security i mean they know anybody flying into israel
they know everything about you passengers you know the masades in the ticket line talking to people
interviewing people i'm shocked and i just saw either net yann who his office just put out like yeah
we're going to reevaluate you know non-israeli's pilots actually flying into our country i'm
absolutely stunned that this so israel the state of israel doesn't even have diplomatic relations
with oman but this guy is allowed to fly into israel sadly whether it was nine 11 or israel's
almost nine 11 that's when we have to tighten things up and i'm shocked i'm shocked the msad the
you know shin bed whatever intelligence service in israel let this guy get into an airliner and
and fly to Israel. I'm stunned.
Buckley saying investigators will also need to determine exactly what weapon was used
and how it wound up inside one of the most restricted areas of the aircraft.
You're not playing racquetball in the cockpit of 737-800. It's kind of tight in there.
So that's why you're seeing all the blood and all that type of stuff.
The other security failure that Israel obviously has to look into is how did this guy get a knife?
I mean, if we're screening all the passengers, did they fail?
screen the air crew, I seriously doubt that. Was there inside help? Did somebody, you know,
get this way, this guy through security? Did somebody plant a knife in the cockpit? So either
security failed to find this guy with a knife, somebody planted a knife in the cockpit for him,
or he potentially used the crash axe that's already in the cockpit. Buckley's telling us the fact
there happened to be another qualified fly-duy crew aboard, maybe the single reason this ended without
mass casualties. That is a grace of God moment. Fly Dubai just confirmed that that was an on-duty
crew. They were either coming off a trip or reporting to a trip. So the fact that two fly-Dubai
aircrew were on board and flew that aircraft is just an act of God. Otherwise, we would be talking
about an absolute tragedy. The U.S. Supreme Court clearing the way for Tennessee to execute
the only woman on the state's death row, reversing a last-minute reprieve, granted earlier in the day.
Krista Pike's execution halted yesterday morning by a federal appeals court, roughly an hour before
she was scheduled to die by lethal injection. The Supreme Court stepping in last night at Tennessee's
request, lifting that stay and allowing the execution to move forward. The 50-year-old convicted of
murdering 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville in 1995 when Pike was just 18 years old.
investigators saying Pike attacked Slemer on the University of Tennessee agricultural campus,
eventually killing her by smashing her in the head with a chunk of asphalt.
Pike reportedly keeping a piece of Slemer's skull after the murder, according to WVLT.
The killing drawing national attention after Slemer was found with an inverted pentagram carved into her chest.
Pike's then-boyfriend later testifying that he was the one who carved the symbol.
Investigators saying jealousy was the motive,
Pike believing Slemer was interested in her boyfriend.
Pike convicted a first-degree murder and sentenced to death in 1996,
her boyfriend receiving a life sentence because he was 17 at the time of the murder.
Pike later acknowledging it took her years to fully understand the gravity of what she had done.
Her conduct behind bars also including another violent crime,
Pike convicted in 2001 of attempted first-degree murder for attacking a fellow inmate.
Her attorney spending years arguing the jury that sentenced Pike to death
never heard the full extent of her deeply troubled childhood.
a psychologist hired by the defense reportedly documenting severe neglect,
along with repeated physical and sexual abuse beginning when Pike was a child.
Pike's trial attorney deciding not to call that psychologist at trial,
and later attorneys arguing Pike had received ineffective assistance of counsel.
That argument failing in the courts, a federal judge rejecting Pike's habeas petition in 2016.
Pike recently seeking executive clemency from Republican Governor Bill Lee,
governorly announcing Monday he would not intervene, saying he was allowing the sentence
imposed by the state to stand. Pike taking another request to the U.S. Supreme Court, the
justice is denying both her application for a stay and her petition for review Tuesday night.
That appeared to leave Pike out of options. Then yesterday morning, another federal challenge
producing a last-minute stay. The Sixth Circuit saying it needs additional time to consider
whether Pike can reopen proceedings involving allegations of childhood sexual abuse and whether
those claims received adequate consideration in her earlier case. Tennessee immediately,
asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the stay and allow the execution to proceed.
The justices agreeing Wednesday evening, clearing the way for Tennessee to carry out Pike's
execution. Slemer's mother speaking to Knoxville TV station WBIR in 2021, saying she wants the sentence
to be carried out. What I want to see from the judge right now would be to get a date
and put her down instead of waiting another year or another judge. There's not a day go by now.
think about coming or how she died and how rough it was. And I just went crista down so I can end it,
relieve my daughter, so she found it can be resting. Honestly, my heart breaks every single day
because I keep reliving it and reliving it. And I can't anymore. And I want this to happen
before I die. Otherwise, nobody will see justice.
Coming up, Sean Diddy Combs reportedly turning federal prison into something closer to a VIP experience.

lavish life behind bars. NBC News reporting the details after speaking to four men,
who have spent time in Combs' unit at Fort Dix Federal Prison in New Jersey,
granting them anonymity to speak freely about life inside.
The network also reviewing photos and videos reportedly taken inside the prison,
including footage appearing to show Combs using a contraband cell phone,
Combs now serving a 50-month sentence after last year's blockbuster federal trial in New York.
A judge sentencing Combs in October to four years and two months in federal prison
and ordering to pay a $500,000 fine.
Combs now appealing his conviction and sentence. NBC reporting the 56-year-old quickly finding ways to make prison considerably more comfortable.
Source is telling the network Combs has acquired contraband cell phones, alcohol, drugs, and a growing group of inmates paid to take care of him.
One inmate describing Fort Dix's black market this way, quote, you can pretty much get anything except a key to the front door and a female.
NBC reporting Combs has spent thousands of dollars a month inside the prison, money sent from people on the outside, into the commissary accounts of,
inmates doing work for him. That includes inmates paid to clean the toilet and shower before Combs
uses them, others handling his laundry and making his bed, and one man giving him massages.
His meals reportedly getting an upgrade too. Sources telling NBC inmates secretly prepare
Combs food including curry chicken, pizza, and empanadas, using makeshift heating devices inside
the prison. Other inmates holding onto Combs' cell phone and the enormous amount of fan mail
he receives. NBC also reporting Combs uses contraband phones to scroll through Instagram and look at
sexually explicit photos reportedly sent by a former girlfriend. Sources claiming Combs has purchased
the antidepressant Remeron from other inmates for its mood boosting effects. Weekend nights reportedly
sometimes involving premium liquor allegedly smuggled into the prison and shared among a small group
of inmates. One former inmate telling NBC, he drank Hennessy with Combs. One source telling NBC,
quote, people are in awe of him, adding, money is power, especially behind bars.
Combs is a spokesperson pushing back on NBC's report, arguing the media is turning ordinary
details of prison life into news and saying Combs remains focused on serving his sentence
while awaiting a decision on his appeal.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons declining to discuss Combs specifically, setting privacy,
safety, and security concerns.
Former Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noam filing for divorce from her husband of
34 years, months after some extraordinary revelations about Brian Noem's private life.
Court records showing Noem seeking to end her marriage to Brian Noem in South Dakota,
setting irreconcilable differences. The complaint dated April 6, although the case only appearing
publicly in the court system this week. Christy and Brian Noem meeting in high school,
marrying in May of 1992, going on to have three children. Brian Noem becoming the subject of
intense scrutiny earlier this year after the Daily Mail published photographs showing him wearing
pink hot pants and another outfit featuring enormous fake breasts apparently fashioned from balloons.
The male reporting Brian had been communicating online with women involved in the so-called
bimbofication fetish scene, reviewing hundreds of messages reportedly sent to three women.
Among them, Brian allegedly writing that he loved, quote, huge, huge, ridiculous boobs.
The male also publishing an image, it said, showed Brian wearing a flat,
flesh-colored body suit with exaggerated breasts,
and reporting he had spent tens of thousands of dollars
interacting with women in those online communities.
A representative for Christy Noem saying at the time she was, quote, devastated
and that the family had been blindsided by the revelations.
Brian declining to discuss the story in detail,
telling a New York Times reporter he would speak, quote,
at some point, but that it was not the day.
Christy Noam's own personal life,
having already been the subject of years of reports and rumors
surrounding longtime Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski.
Those allegations resurfacing publicly during a House hearing in March when a Democrat congresswoman asked Noam under oath whether she had sexual relations with Lewandowski.
Noam, dismissing the question as, quote, tabloid garbage, without directly answering yes or no.
Brian Noam sitting in the hearing room at the time, the New York Post later reporting Noam and Lewandowski were still spending time together after her departure from DHS, including being spotted together in Minnesota over the summer.
Noam's attorney now confirming she is seeking to dissolve the marriage, saying she has faith in South Dakota's judicial system and will reserve further comment for the legal process.
