Donald Trump has been caught on camera, folks. We have the receipts. We have the photos. We have the video. I want to lay out the evidence as I would when I was a litigator. In just the past 48 hours, we saw Donald Trump's Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Christy Nome, post photographs of an American citizen whose home was unlawfully rated by ICE agents. And she showed a photo and tried to
conflate this individual with another individual who appears to have been wrongfully shot and
killed by ICE agents in Illinois. I want to go through all of the facts and evidence that we have
and just lay it out for you. And I want to show you some of the other atrocities that are being
documented. So join me. Let's share this video with as many people as you can. It's important that
we get the word out. This first video I want to show you, though, is a video.
of ICE detaining a Chicago man who has a work permit. He had to abandon his wife and two small
children in the middle of an intersection. He was telling the agents, I'm legal. I have my status,
but they didn't care. He first refused to get out until agents started banging on his car,
causing his kids to freak out and fear. They took him with them and left no information for
the mom, said the council president. Even after a volunteer group helped the fact
family, find an immigration attorney. They still have no idea where he is. The arrest took place
in the Little Village community of Chicago, Illinois. Here, play this clip.
An ICE agent tells the couple in the car they need to open the door. The woman replies
not to open the door because they're legal. She shared this video she shot inside the car with
the Little Village Community Council. Anita Clara witnessed the exchange from the sidewalk.
She says they told him to get out of the car, and when he didn't, they started hitting the car.
Then he got out of the car, and the wife and kids were crying.
It happened late this morning at the corner of 24th in South Albany.
Afterward, the wife and two young children sat nearby in tears, wondering where they had taken, their husband and father.
He was telling them, you know, I'm legal.
I have my legal status, but they didn't care.
They just kidnapped them, took them with them, left no information for the mom.
Valtazar Enriquez, president of the Little Village Community Council, is trying to help get legal representation for those who have been detained, but the numbers are growing.
A short time later, just a few blocks away, more ICE agents stop a Venezuelan man, taking him into custody as well.
Noemi Rivera witnessed as they brought him in handcuffs to their car.
She says, I got very scared and nervous because I saw everything, and I shot the video.
We made several unsuccessful attempts to reach out to ICE for comments.
It was with this backdrop that some Pilsen neighbors are celebrating El Grito tonight.
It's supposed to be a reminder for Mexican people to fight for freedom, dignity, and respect.
Tonight, that is difficult for some.
Even people that have legal status, we're also fearful.
The family of the man detained earlier today at 24th in Albany is working with an attorney to try to determine where he's being held.
and whether he can be released on bond.
All right.
Now, this is the video I was talking about at the outset.
Christy Noem personally joined ICE in Chicago for a raid,
but arrested a U.S. citizen by mistake.
He was woken up by an explosion that literally blew the doors off his house.
Agents handcuffed him,
featured him in a propaganda video that Christy Noem published,
which they released even after the arrest was proven to be a mistake,
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Christine Ome shared this video on all of her social media handles of four men, including Joe Betelow, being dragged out of his house.
Neither the video nor her message admits that Joe Betelow is a U.S. citizen who they were forced to release.
The ice raid occurred in the Chicago suburb of Elgin, Illinois.
I want you to watch what happens as this Elgin man, who is a U.S. citizen, was detained in the latest,
Chicago area ice blitz. They're calling their military style operation midway blitz. And what they're
trying to do is exactly what we warned you. Provoke the community so that somebody reacts
potentially violently and then bring in the military and say they need to put down an insurrection.
This is what they're trying to provoke there. And thanks to Governor Pritzker and other leaders,
the citizens in Chicago know what's up. But here play this clip. I spoke to that contractor over there.
He was called by the homeowner to repair the damage.
He says both the front door and back door are busted in.
Now, Secretary Christine Nome sent out a tweet that reads in part,
I was on the ground in Chicago today to make it clear we are not backing down.
That post on X also included video showing several people being led away in handcuffs.
We have witness video that was taken after a person describes hearing an explosion around
550 this morning.
You can see armed officers shining flashlights at a door and into a window as well.
Another neighbor told us about the response from law enforcement that came from the air.
Awakened at 20 to 6 by the drone of the helicopter flying overhead, circling the house, circling the neighborhood.
Spotlight on right over the house. Very unusual in our usually quiet neighborhood.
Back out here live, people in the neighborhood are slowly filled.
altering over here to see this damage.
Everyone walking up to us wants to know what the people were taken into custody for.
Well, according to Secretary Nome, she indicated on social media, their offenses include DUI,
felony stalking, and assault.
We know that members of a rapid response team are walking around the neighborhood, trying to be on standby
in case there are any more ICE arrests.
I also wanted to tell you that Representative Lauren Underwood from the Northwest Suburbs says
she got debriefed by ICE recently, who told her that since,
Since September 6th, there have been 250 ICE arrests in the Chicago area.
I'm Lord Victor reporting live in Elgin this morning, CBS News, Chicago.
So here was the updated video, which talks about how there were actually two U.S. citizens detained during the ice raid in Chicago that Christine Ome personally participated.
And state Senator Christina Castro when asked for comment about Christine Ome showing up there and engaging in an unlawful raid.
herself. I mean, Nome did it herself. State Senator Christine Castro says, go to hell. Don't
come to my community. Here, play this clip. Now a big development just in about an early morning
immigration effort that took place in Northwest Suburban Elgin. Our Sabrina Franza is there.
Sabrina, you just spoke to one of the men who was detained and now released.
Joe, Erica, we're now hearing that five people were originally arrested at this home here in Elgin
and that two of them have since been released because they are U.S. citizens.
And speaking with that gentleman, he told me it was an incredibly scary morning
to be arrested by the immigration and custom enforcement action here on this block in Elgin.
He said they were asked if they were U.S. citizens at one point.
And he and his colleague, because they were on their way to work,
were able to produce their licenses and be released back into the town where they work,
where he recently just spoke to us a few moments ago.
Now, as for the other three people that he says
are still in custody by immigration and customs enforcement,
the reason for their detention is not officially known.
Before the sun had risen,
neighbors say federal agents were on the ground,
this helicopter in the sky.
DHS Secretary Christy Noem there alongside an immigration enforcement raid.
In a post on X, she says, quote, I was on the ground in Chicago today to make clear we are not backing down.
You can see her at the end of this video, she posted.
Sources tell CBS News Chicago she left Illinois shortly after.
Was that necessary for this kind of standard little neighborhood?
Neighbor Nick Hurst drove over, confused about what was going on.
Are people just going to be afraid to be detained just to go to school?
Nonprofit immigrant rights organization Casa DuPage responded as soon as they heard.
We go out and patrol our communities starting as early as 4 o'clock in the morning.
They say they could not reach the family that lives here before those people were taken into federal custody.
I see the door broken and I hear them screaming and Spanish, telling them to get out,
otherwise they're coming with deadly force, things like that.
And then I see them come out one by one.
Later, Illinois State Senator Christina Castro canvassed her district herself with strong words for Secretary Nome
after she says her community is afraid and angry with the ongoing operation.
Midway Blitz.
She can go to hell.
Don't come to my community.
Now, DHS Secretary Christy Knoem had mentioned on X
that they were still going after
some of the most violent offenders
referencing people being taken into custody today,
accused of DUI, felony stalking.
But again, it is not clear if anyone
that is still in custody is convicted of any of those crimes.
We did reach out to DHS for more specifics on that,
and they did not give those details to us.
We are also hearing that these types of actions
are expected to continue for at least a few more weeks
and we'll keep you posted as soon as we learn more on that.
For now, we're live in Elgin.
Sabrina Franza, CBS News, Chicago.

Now, I want to show you this right here because these Chicago State Senators don't play around.
Chicago State Senator Karina Via chases ice out of her district.
This is my city. Take your masks off.
She said that more than 15 people already had been taken away in unmarked cars by masked agents.
These masked individuals came upon my people.
people, people with the color of my skin, and pick them up,
Senator, State Senator Karina Villa says.
She then looked into the camera and asked for help.
If you are an ally, come out and stand with us.
Take pictures, record, and get the license plates.
State Senator Karina Via currently represents West Chicago.
She recently announced her statewide campaign for Illinois Comptroller.
Here, play this clip.
Stay in your part.
How many want to stay in your houses?
Don't open your doors and control yours.
This is my city, that's right.
Take off your mask.
Take off your mask.
What?
Inside of your houses, everyone do not come out.
Stay in your houses.
Stay in your houses.
They have rights, all.
Not out if no, if no,
there's an order for a judge.
Amisel to the residents.
All those who have documents and papers
are they're gonna help.
For favor,
they're in all West Chicago right?
Corran the voice, for a favor.
Hi, everyone, I am here in West Chicago right now
on B-59 and Forest Avenue.
This morning, we have received reports
that ICE is coming, and I have seen
masked people, masked individuals. We don't know who they are. We are making sure that the community
knows their rights. Stay inside of your house. Do not answer the door unless there is a warrant.
If you are an ally, come out with a camera, take pictures, record, get the license plates. Make
sure that the kids are safe because right now our kids are going to school. The buses are coming
down. I talked to some parents who are on their way to take their kids to school and they are
afraid, but not here. We need all of our allies to come out and to stand with us. As you can
see, there are cars right behind me. License plates North Dakota. They've got their face masks on.
I want all of you to remember that we are in West Chicago. We are in Illinois. We still have
rights here. Call my office, call the 1-800 number for ICE. I will get that to you before the end
of this recording. I will do this in Spanish now.
Hello, I'm here in West Chicago, in the
Eskina of Forest and the 59.
As you're seeing,
not in my city.
Not in my city.
Not in my city.
I'm sorry, guys.
I'm sorry.
Please believe that.
If you have kids watching, I apologize.
They're over here.
They're over here.
Now, one of the things that we're seeing as well is that the fear of ice raids are now causing some cities to cancel Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations.
Mexican Independence Day here, play this clue.
This Hispanic Heritage Months, several cities across the country canceling celebrations in fear of ice raids.
The participants, those who were going to be cooking the food and performing, just didn't feel comfortable coming.
Outside of Boston, the city of Everett, canceling this year's food.
Fiesta del Rio, originally scheduled for September 20th, saying in a statement, quote,
with the recent ice raids in our region, many of our friends and neighbors are feeling fear and uncertainty.
Events also called off in other cities, including Long Beach, California, Indianapolis, and Seattle, Washington.
But in Chicago, the Mexican Independence Day parade, an annual tradition dating back more than 50 years, marching on.
We are not intimidated. We are united.
and we will resist anyone who seeks to silence us and drag us into the shadows.
Organizers working with Chicago Police and private security to keep crowds safe
while deploying civil rights groups in case of ICE arrests.
We have rapid response things on site.
We have over 25 immigration attorneys on site.
So we're ready to face whatever comes our way.
All power to the people.
It comes after weeks of protests and Friday's fatal shooting of Silvedio Villegas-Conzalez,
who DHS says was an undocumented immigrant.
The agency saying an ICE officer shot and killed the 38-year-old
after he fled a traffic stop, dragging the officer with his car.
This weekend, ICE saying they arrested a suspected MS-13 gang member,
also in the Chicago area, ICE trumpeting the president's so-called Operation Midway Blitz.
We have to make sure that we're protecting all the United States.
While the crackdown has put some communities on,
edge. Others say they will continue to celebrate loudly and proudly. We are who we are. We're
brown and proud, and we have to celebrate it. Back out of your live to answer a question,
we've been getting a lot. Our team on the ground at yesterday's parade in Chicago saw
zero signs of ICE or DHS officers. We did reach out to both agencies after the event to ask if
they were in the area or if any arrests were made, especially at that event. Both agencies not
answering those questions at this time. We'll point out ICE in response Morgan sent us a news release
about past arrests in the Chicago area that release was dated September 10th. So that was their response to that.
Share this with you as well. Federal agents raiding a Long Beach car wash. Let's play it.
Federal agents arrested several people while raiding yet another car wash this time in Long Beach.
There's swift action, surprised and stunned workers and customers at Bixby Knowles Car Wash.
KTLA's Rachel Menatoff joins us live.
from there with a story. Hi, Rachel.
Hi, Corrine. Hi, Rick. This latest raid taking place a couple of days after the Supreme Court
ruled that immigration authorities can resume roving patrols in Los Angeles and several other
California counties. Now, the general manager here at Bigsby Knowles tells us that seven of his
employees were detained here on Saturday, four of whom actually have documentation granting
their legal status. We talked to a couple of witnesses who captured the operation on
camera and shared with us some of their concerns about it.
The first thing I saw was a woman being chased, an older woman, and then they just started
tackling people. And I've never been this traumatized.
I chose to speak out today because yesterday I felt helpless. Anything I did would be either end
of being detained or arrested or potentially losing my life. So speaking today is the voice
for so many folks here that are not criminals that are here to work.
and are just stuck between a loophole system that hasn't been figured out.
And here's their cell phone video.
According to the witnesses, a woman fainted during the surprise immigration operation.
And he has heard calling out asking the federal officers to get her medical attention.
Homeland Security has promised to once again ramp up immigration enforcement.
And according to the high court, it has grounds to do so based on a person's race,
ethnicity, and his or her spoken language.
According to statistics from NBC News,
58,000 undocumented immigrants have been taken into custody
since the president took office in January.
An immigration attorney says since the Supreme Court ruled
in favor of the Trump administration,
the next step is for a federal district court judge
to make a more final ruling in the next week or so.
But until that time, she says it's important
to carry documentation with you at all times.
Here is her counsel for those without documentation.
My advice as an immigration attorney is don't put yourself out there in situations where you could be profiled and you could be detained.
It's best to wait until we have more definition and some people have pending cases.
Wait until their cases come to fruition and hopefully they get approved and they have a green card to live and work in the United States.
And we have reached out to ICE and DHS about this specific incident.
are awaiting their response. We're live in Long Beach tonight. I'm Rachel Manitoff.
This is the photo that Christy Nome posted. She said this week, brave ICE officer was dragged
many yards by a car after a criminal illegal alien resisted arrest. His life was put at risk
and he sustained serious injuries. Trump has been clear if politicians will not put safety of their
citizens first. This administration will. I was on the ground in Chicago today to make clear we are not
backing down. Just this morning, DHS took violent offenders off the street with arrest for
assault, DUI, and felony stalking. Our work is only beginning in the photo that Christenone posted.
It was Joe Betelow. It was his home. They smashed through his doors. They dragged him
and his roommates out in handcuffs. Then they posted the video online suggesting that he was a
criminal, despite knowing he was released soon after. Guys, not a criminal. He's not a criminal.
a U.S. citizen. What are we doing here, folks? What are we doing here? There you have. Let me show you
the video quickly, though, of the incident where you can clearly see that the individual was not
dragging the ice officer in this video, as Christine Ome said, which is a separate incident,
but she like conflates him. Here, play this globe. Video from this morning shows two ice agents
conducting a vehicle stop. The agents surround the silver car. The driver reverses the vehicle.
The officer on the passenger side can be seen pointing his weapon as the driver attempts to flee the scene.
As the car drives away, the agent on the driver's side can no longer be seen in this video.
In a different surveillance video, two gunshots can be heard as the vehicle drives away.
