Just moments ago in the House of Representatives, the MAGA Republicans enforced a new rule that they implemented within the House of Representatives
that no member in the House of Representatives criticism about Donald Trump will be permitted in the House of
Representatives based on the new rule created by MAGA Republicans in the House of Representatives.
So here's what went down. Democratic Congress member Jim McGovern started giving a speech
about the MAGA Republican Congress members who showed up at Donald Trump's trial in Manhattan. Then the
chair, the serving chair of the House of Representatives, somebody by the name of
Jerry Carl, a MAGA Republican Congress member from Alabama, interjected and admonished Democratic
Congress member Jim McGovern for making objectively accurate facts about Donald Trump on
the House floor. Then Congress member McGovern requests parliamentary inquiry. Are you saying
that it's not permitted for any member of Congress to even mention that Donald Trump is on a criminal
trial, to which the MAGA Republicans say, to the extent it is viewed
as being critical of Donald Trump, your words shall be stricken from the record if you even
mention that Donald Trump is on a criminal trial. Folks, this is as dystopian and as authoritarian
as it gets. This is terrifying. Let me just show you what went down. Here's how
it begins with Democratic Congress member Jim McGovern talking about the MAGA Republican
Congress members. Then you'll see who's serving as the kind of acting ceremonial chair in the
House of Representatives today, MAGA Republican Congressmember Jerry Carl. Watch what goes down
at first. I'm going to walk us through each step of what went down. Play this clip. But instead,
my friends over the other side of the aisle have pandered to their most extreme members over and
over and over again. They let the extremists kick out their own speaker. They let the extremists
dictate the agenda on the House floor. They let the extremists
take down seven rule votes since January 2023, a stunning indictment of their ability to get
anything done. And speaking of indictments, Republicans are skipping their real jobs
to take day trips up to New York to try to undermine Donald Trump's criminal trial. No time to work with Democrats,
but plenty of time to put on weird matching cult uniforms and stand behind President Trump
with their bright red ties and like pathetic props. Maybe they want to distract from the
fact that their candidate for president has been indicted more times than he's been elected.
Maybe they don't want to talk about the fact that the leader of their party is on trial for covering up hush money
payments to a porn star for political gain, not to mention three other criminal felony prosecutions
he's facing. Now, I understand why my Republican friends want to distract from Donald Trump.
They don't want to talk about how Trump had the worst jobs record since the Great Depression, how he sold out our allies and empowered our adversaries.
So they bring silly things like this to the floor to deflect blame and distract from the fact that they have no real vision,
just division, and no real plans to make life better for the American people.
And with that, I reserve my time.
The chair would like to remind members to refrain from engaging in personal personalities towards presumed nominees for the office of the president.
The gentleman from Massachusetts reserves, the gentlewoman from Indiana is recognized.
Thank you, Mr.
So then after that happens, Democratic Congress member Jim McGovern says, look, I was just admonished for stating a fact.
It's the truth.
Donald Trump is on a criminal trial.
Is it now unparliamentary for us to simply state that Donald Trump's on a criminal trial?
Is that where this is going?
Here, play this clip.
Massachusetts is recognized.
Yeah, Mr. Speaker, a few moments ago, I was admonished for stating the simple fact that
the former president was indicted by a grand jury and is on trial in a court of law.
That's not my opinion.
It's just the truth.
So I have a parliamentary
inquiry, Mr. Speaker. The gentleman will state his inquiry. Mr. Speaker, has the chair determined
it's unparliamentary to state a fact? The chair is not in a position to determine the veracity of remarks made on the floor.
That members must avoid personalities.
Yeah, well, that's unbelievable.
Last week during debate, a Republican member of this House said, and I quote,
watch the former president of the United States being hauled into
court day after day with a sham trial, end quote. He wasn't admonished. I just referenced the same
trial and I was. So Democratic Congress member McGovern just says, look, these are the facts.
These are the cases that he's been in. This is what a jury has already found him liable for in the E. Gene Carroll
case. Here's what another court's found him liable for. These are just the facts. And then you'll see
a MAGA Republican congresswoman jumps in and says, strike his words, strike his words,
get his words off the record. Here, play this clip. We have a presumptive nominee for president
facing 88 felony counts, and we're being prevented from even acknowledging it.
These are not alternative facts. These are real facts.
A candidate for president of the United States is on trial for sending a hush money payment to a porn star to avoid a sex scandal during his 2016 campaign,
and then fraudulently disguising those payments in violation of the law.
He's also charged with conspiring to overturn the election.
He's also charged with stealing classified information.
And a jury has already found him liable for rape in a civil court.
And yet, in this Republican-controlled House, it's okay to talk about the trial, but you have to call it a sham.
We take down his words.
It's okay to say the jury is rigged.
Mr. Speaker, I demand that his words be held words. It's okay to say the jury is rigged. Mr. Speaker, I demand that his words be taken down.
It's okay to say the court is corrupt.
Gentlemen, we'll suspend.
But not Trump is corrupting the rule of law.
So then what happens is the clerk is asked by the MAGA Republican to read the words that Republicans want to be stricken.
Here's what the clerk does.
Play this clip.
The chair is prepared to rule.
The words of the gentleman from Massachusetts accused the presumed
nominee of the office of president of engaging in illegal activities. The presumed nominee for the office of president are according to the same treatments under the rules of the decorum in debate as a sitting
president. This practice is memorialized in section 370 of the House Rules and Manual.
This is warranted even though a candidate may not have officially obtained the party's nomination, once there is no
reasonable dispute that the candidate will receive the nomination. The chair reaches that the
conclusion in part based on the statement of the speaker right of September 29 actual party nominees is not a prerequisite for treatments
under the presiding as though they are nominees. I messed that one up. I'm sorry.
The chair has abolished members on the basis of numerous occasions and as recently as early today. This standard entails the
application of restrictions against the personalities to refer to a candidate under the rules of
decorum in debate. Therefore, although remarks in debate may include criticism of such candidates'
official position as a candidate, it is a breach
of order to refer to the candidate in terms personally offensive, whether by actually
accusing or by merely insulting. Also, as such, in Section 370 of the manual, the acquisition that
the president has committed a crime or even that
the president has done something illegal is not in order. The chair relies on the
the precincts of March 19, 1988, September 10, 1998, and finds that the remarks consistently a personal attack. Without objections,
the offensive words are stricken from the record. You may assume that you're getting everything your

One more time, it's L-I-V-E-M-O-M-E-N-T-O-U-S.com.
Use the code Midas touch. Democratic Congress member Jim McGovern says, so are you just basically saying
that it is now improper for anyone to talk about just facts like we can't we can't even mention it?
Play this clip. General State's inquiry. Mr. Speaker, is it correct that members of Congress
can mention the trial of the presumptive nominee for president,
call it a sham, and question the integrity of the judge, but a reference to the mere
existence of that same trial without any characterization, that's out of order?
The chair will not issue an advisory opinion. And then the MAGA Republicans strike the word, say that making any accusations, even if rooted in truth, about Donald Trump are improper in the House of Representatives.
It is a violation of the new rules that have been implemented by the MAGA Republicans.
The words shall be stricken and the offensive words were removed from the record.
That's how the MAGA Republicans say it is offensive to simply state the fact that Donald
Trump is on a criminal trial, that Donald Trump has been found liable. Play this clip.
Mark will report the words.
We have a presumptive nominee for president facing 88 felony counts, and we are being prevented from even acknowledging it.
These are not alternative facts. These are real facts.
A candidate for president of the United States is on trial for sending a hush money payment to a porn star to avoid a sex scandal during his 2016 campaign,
and then fraudulently disguising those payments
in violation of the law. He is also charged with conspiring to overturn the election.
He is also charged with stealing classified information. And a jury has already found him
liable for rape in a civil court. And yet in this Republican-controlled house, it is okay to talk
about the trial, but you have to call it a sham. It is okay to say the jury is rigged, but not that Trump should be held accountable.
It is okay to say the court is corrupt, but not Trump is corrupting the rule of law.
The chair is prepared to rule. And folks, this is why I say I don't care what political party
you're from. What you're seeing there should terrify you, what the MAGA Republicans are doing, that
you can't in the United States of America state facts.
If you state facts that somehow hurt the frail ego of Donald Trump, the MAGA Republican Red
Tie Brigade that shows up at his criminal trial, attacks the
judge's daughter. They're going to strike your words and hold you in violation of our House of
Representatives. Are you absolutely kidding me? I mean, it is absolutely disgusting. Oh, and then
earlier today, you've got MAGA Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House, who was asked a very basic question by the press, by Madhu Raju, who says, okay, you've made clear that you think that the trial in New York is a sham.
You've said that over and over again.
You don't even show up at the trial, but okay, we get that.
But you're okay.
You're supposed to be a religious man.
That's how you advertise yourself. You're a religious man. You said your perspective is
informed by the Bible. So you're okay with hush money payments to porn stars and then watch,
you know, Mag and Mike goes, oh, I'm not going to answer that. I'm not going to answer that.
Play this clip.
Any further? Yeah.
You've been very clear about your disdain for the hush money case, but what about the underlying alleged conduct of paying off a porn star to keep this extramarital affair allegedly quiet?
You're a deeply religious man, a moral man. Does that alleged conduct cause you any concern about the former president's character?
Look, I'm not going to comment on that.
What we've said about what's happening in Manhattan is, I've called it a disgrace because it is. It's clearly lawfare. They're clearly going after President Trump
because of who he is, because he is a, you know, he'll soon to be officially the nominee of the
Republican Party for President of the United States. They've had him tied up for weeks in a
courthouse when he should be out, have the ability to speak freely in the campaign, and to be around
the country. This is clearly by design. These prosecutors in these
various locations clearly have coordinated with the Department of Justice in Washington.
Everybody knows what's going on. Everybody. If you look at this objectively, there's no way to
look at this in any other way. The case is patently absurd. You've had every legal analyst
across the board acknowledge as much. It needs to be handled quickly, and I hope that he will be fully acquitted there and we can move forward.
But the damage has been done.
They're doing real damage to our system of justice itself, and you've heard me say many times that's my greatest concern.
If the people in a constitutional republic do not trust that justice is fair and that you have equal justice under the law,
then we lose a very important
element of what it is required to maintain a republic like ours. And so we've got a lot of
repair work to do, I think, to the institution itself and to our system of justice after this
madness. So with that, we'll leave you. Thanks so much. Folks, this is just a group of clowns.
This isn't even like a Republican. These MAGA mutants have taken over
the Republican Party. This is not what the real Republican, this should not be what mainstream
Republican is. It's a MAGA mutation that you see in Kim Jong-un's North Korea, in Russia. This is
what you see in Gaddafi's Libya and Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath Party.
That's what this is.
And it's horrific to see it here in the United States of America.
It's gotta call out this behavior for what it is.
It's horrific.
