That was MAGA Republican Jim Jordan running away from cameras after being humiliated on the floor of the House of Representatives after losing in the first round of his attempt to become Speaker of the House when there were 20 no votes from his own party, 20 votes against him. I'm Ben Micellis from the Midas Touch Network. MAGA Republican Jim Jordan thought he had it locked on Tuesday. He thought his scare tactics and his threats would break the will of the more moderate Republicans. It did not. It backfired in his face. 20 Republicans voted against Jim Jordan. In fact, on Tuesday, there were more people who

voted to make the Democratic leader, Hakeem Jeffries, Speaker of the House than Jim Jordan. What we are learning now, though, is that MAGA Republican Jim Jordan has been engaging in heinous threats and attacks on moderate Republicans to try to pressure them and crush them into submission. We previously reported these pressure tactics and threats coming from Sean Hannity of Fox. I'll get to more of that in a moment. But what we are learning right now is that MAGA Republicans have been threatening, get this, the wives of more moderate Republicans, threatening them that they need to vote for MAGA Republican Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House or else. But these threats, these

pressure campaigns, it's backfired in the face of Jim Jordan and his MAGA Republican allies as the so-called, if this even exists, more moderate Republican members are saying that this has only reinforced why they do not want to vote for Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House. Meanwhile, Jim Jordan has called for another vote to take place in a short period of time from now, but it doesn't seem like he has the votes. Let me show you this. Olivia Beavers broke the story. This is from a Republican, Don Bacon, who told Olivia Beavers that his wife received multiple threatening text messages. Here's one, for example, talk to your husband, tell him to step up and be a leader and help the Republican party get a speaker. There's too much going on in the world for all this going on in the Republican Party.

You guys take five steps forward and then turn around and take 20 steps backwards. No wonder our party always ends up getting screwed over. That was one message. Here's another message. And it's not just Don Bacon's wife. Other more moderate Republican members' wives say that they've got messages like this as well. Here's another message from Don Bacon's wife. And give her credit for standing up here.

I absolutely do. She gets a message from some random person. Why is your husband causing chaos by not supporting Jim Jordan? I thought he was a team player. Don Bacon's wife responds, who is this? Oh, now you have nothing to say. And then shortly thereafter, a few hours later, this individual who's harassing her writes, your husband will not hold any political office ever again. What a disappoint and failure he is. They mean disappointment. So it's obviously coming from a MAGA person who doesn't have grammar. And then Don Bacon's wife says, he has more courage than

you. You won't put your name to your statement. And Don Bacon, Republican, ended up voting for Kevin McCarthy. We previously reported on the threats coming from Sean Hannity of Fox. These messages to the wives of moderate Republican members actually mimic what Sean Hannity has been saying and the message that he and other MAGA members of the media have been putting out. This story was broken by Julie Grace Brufke. And here was the letter that Sean Hannity's team from Fox whipping votes for Jim Jordan, supposed to be a news host. But here's what he is saying. Hello, Stephanie from the Hannity Show with Fox News here. Sources tell Hannity that Representative blank, fell in the name of the Republican who's not supporting Jim Jordan, is not supporting

Representative Jim Jordan for speaker. Can you please let me know if this is accurate? And if true, Hannity would like to know why during a war breaking out between Israel and Hamas with the war in Ukraine with wide open borders with a budget that's unfinished, why would Representative fill in the blank be against Representative Jim Jordan for speaker? Please let us know when Representative Blank plans on opening the People's House so work can be done. Lastly, are there any conditions that Representative Blank will choose to work with Democrats on the process of electing a new speaker? The deadline for comments is 11 a.m. Eastern Time tomorrow. That's when it was sent the day before, October 16th.

Thank you. By the way, here is the moment where Don Bacon, Republican, voted for Kevin McCarthy and not Jim Jordan in the vote on Tuesday. dumbass and by the way the way that Jim Jordan got to become the front runner for Speaker of the House is by undermining Steve Scalise. And Steve Scalise says that he's a more voter-friendly version of David Duke, the former leader of the KKK. And one of the things that Jim Jordan's team did was they released federal elections data on Steve Scalise showing that he had purchased more than $500,000 at a steakhouse over the course of the past 10 years at Capitol Grill. They undermined Steve Scalise through those tactics. And then Jim Jordan's plan was to force a vote, use these threats to try to intimidate members and get them to vote for Jim Jordan when, in fact, that actually backfired and I think solidified the will of Republicans not to vote for Jim Jordan. Here was Jim Jordan being asked by CNN,

why won't you say to Ken Buck, Republican from the Freedom Caucus and others, that the election was not stolen in 2020. It's silence from Jim Jordan. Play this clip. Here he is blaming the Democrats for the fact that 20 Republicans ended up voting against Jim Jordan while Jim Jordan's team is threatening the Republicans. Explain that one to me. Now we have rules. We don't have to be stuck on the floor. interesting part of why we're here every single democrat voted to stop one branch of government they created this mess with eight republicans every single democrat did that and so i think what we'll do is we'll go sit down uh we'll talk to those that have difference of opinion and come back to the market surprise you what bad for mr do you feel bad for mr you threw his you're supporting for him don't over read into this this is about the same vote i had in my first vote out i were in the well no no no no no. Let's go back to how it got here. We wouldn't be here if every single Democrat didn't vote with eight Republicans

to shut this place down. There were 15 Republicans voted against Jim Jordan today on the floor, including two votes from somebody who's not even a member anymore. Every single Democrat and eight Republicans voted to shut down one branch of government. That is why we're here today. There's no other reason why we're here today but because of that. Now we had a vote on the floor.

It didn't get to the whole point. Now we'll take a break, talk to people and come back and solve it. So how long is this going to be today? Here is Republican Ken Buck explaining that when Jim Jordan brings this to a second vote, that there are now more Republicans who are not going to support Jim Jordan, and it's time to move on. By the way, this is a right-wing, right-wing person, Ken Buck. But he is speaking some sense here, and I think it's important to acknowledge that. Here's Republican Ken Buck. Play this clip. But do other Republicans feel the same way you do? They're just not willing to say it out loud? Absolutely. I have talked to a number of people who have come up to me and almost whispered, thank you. And I know- Whispered? Yes. Why are they so afraid? I don't understand. What are they afraid of? Well, the Republicans who are going to vote against Jim Jordan on the second ballot, which will be more Republicans.

More. More, absolutely. Want the cover of saying, I voted for Jim Jordan, but now it's time to move on. The problem is they are afraid of a primary. The calls that are coming in are ridiculous. They're in the hundreds, if not thousands, that are coming into every office right now. The grassroots campaign is very strong for Jim Jordan. And here is former Republican Congress member Adam Kinzinger calling on Republicans to stand up against Jim Jordan and the important decision that Kinzinger had to make to leave the party,

to leave Congress. And he's done with the fascism. Good, play the clip. Can I just say, as somebody that has been, I have faced this, and I had to make a decision to basically end my career to do the right thing, it's well worth it. Like you get, you know, everybody goes into Congress saying, I'm going to go in and do the right thing. I am going to stand alone if I need to. And then all of a sudden that fear of a primary is enough to frighten them away. This is as almost big in my mind of a moment as standing up against January

6th was for these members. Listen, the job of Congress pays $174,000 a year. It's not a terrible salary. You've got to travel all the time. It's actually really hard. The idea that it's the best job in the world, and you have to actually sell out what you believe to keep it, it's just fear. It's fear paralyzing members of Congress. And if you're somebody that gets paralyzed by fear, fear of a frigging primary, then you probably should find a different line of work because we need brave people in the House of Representatives. I'm trying to put on my analyst hat here a little bit, but at the same time, emotionally, I'm so invested in this because Jim Jordan, I truly believe, would be the worst pick for Speaker of the House of anybody in the House of Representatives, maybe except like Matt

Gates. And finally, let's not forget this. Here's a flashback to Jim Jordan explaining his scheme to reject electors for Joe Biden on January 5th, 2021. Play the clip. How does this work? It sounds like it could get chaotic in there. What happens after the debate? If you get an objection from a United States senator, an objection from a member of the House of Representatives on the same state, then they retire each each body retires to their respective chambers and you have a debate for one hour for each side a two-hour debate one hour for the pro objecting uh the people who support uh objecting to the the acceptance of the electors and one hour for the folks who oppose it that debate will unfold and then there will be a vote depending on what happens. If those electors

are objection, if that prevails, they won't be accepted. And in this situation, Joe Biden's electoral count number would go down by whatever that state electors, that number is. And then you move on to the next state and then it proceeds in an alphabetical order. So there you have it, folks, threatening the wives of moderate Republicans, leaking financial statements to try to undermine other Republicans, using Fox to send emails to threaten Republicans, and then the audacity to blame Democrats for it. But folks, you have the receipts. That's what's going on. Those are the messages that they are sending. Another vote for Speaker will be taking place soon. Jim Jordan's going to force this next vote. Jim Jordan got humiliated in the first round. Hakeem Jeffries received more votes, the Democratic leader. 212 for Hakeem Jeffries, 200 for Jim Jordan, 20 no votes for Jim Jordan.
