The tellers agree and their tallies that the total number of votes cast is 433 of which the Honorable Jim Jordanordan of the state of ohio has received 199 the honorable hakeem je become Speaker of the House. I'm Ben Micellis from the Midas Touch Network. Patrick McHenry giving the final tally for Wednesday, where Jim Jordan presented himself yet again to become the Speaker of the House after, on Tuesday, he was rejected. On Tuesday, there were 20 no votes from his own party who voted for others, other individuals other than Jim Jordan, preventing Jim Jordan from becoming Speaker of the House. Yesterday, Hakeem Jeffries received more votes than MAGA Republican Jim Jordan.

And the same exact thing happened today. MAGA Republican Jim Jordan received 199 votes and Hakeem Jeffries received 212 votes. There were 22 votes for others, Republicans voting for other individuals, which prevents Hakeem Jeffries from becoming Speaker of the House, but it also prevents Jim Jordan from becoming Speaker of the House. I want to show you right now what went down today leading to this vote, and then I want to talk about what happens next. So the first thing that happened today was a nominating speech that was given by a Republican Tom Cole. And in this nominating speech, one of the things that Congress member Cole,

a MAGA Republican, states is that one of the reasons why Jim Jordan would make a good speaker, he says, is because Jim Jordan would take away your Social Security and Medicare. This is what he said. Play this clip. I'm an appropriator. I think I know that that's not the root of the problem. But unlike any other speaker we've had, he's had the courage

to talk about a long-term plan and to get at the real drivers of debt. And we all know what they are. We all know it's Social Security. We all know it's Medicare. We all know it's Medicaid. No president of either side has been willing to deal with this. No speaker of either side has been willing to deal with this. My friend, our former colleague John Delaney and I offered a plan. I still file it every year. John's not here anymore. To go back and do in 1983 what we did then and address Social Security. We never can get any help. This is the guy that wants to

create a debt commission, a bipartisan debt commission, and get at the roots of our spending problem. That takes courage. Well, thank you for creating a campaign ad for Democrats, but frankly, setting that aside, horrifying that the MAGA Republicans are saying one of the reasons they want Jim Jordan is because he'll take away your Social Security. They're just saying it right there. Here's also Congress member Cole in his nominating speech where he says why Jim Jordan should become Speaker of the House. He says that Jim Jordan is a person of absolute personal integrity and an honorable man. He's certainly not talking about Jim Jordan here. He can't be here to play

this clip. And be shy about it. And my friend is not a shy person. But I've learned some things about him over the years. He is a person of absolute personal integrity. I've never once had to question something that he told me. He's an honorable man. Also, I think we all know he's a pretty direct man too. I don't think anybody in here on any issue of any substance would have to guess where Jim Jordan is going to stand. He doesn't deceive, he doesn't assemble, he simply tells you straight up this is what I believe, this is why I think it's the right thing to do for the country. And that's what I'm going to try and accomplish.

And I'm going to work with you in any way that I can to do it. And during the speech that was given by Congress member Cole, as he was saying those things, the way we covered it on the Midas Touch Network, as we were just bringing the receipts and showing that MAGA Republican Jim Jordan is someone who spent his entire life covering up sexual abuse. Congress member Jim Jordan was someone who supports and supported insurrection, wants to overthrow our democracy. And Congressman Jim Jordan is someone who rejects lawfully issued subpoenas. He's also somebody who's never passed any legislation or has sponsored any legislation at all in his time in Congress. He's a legislative arsonist who's only worked to divide our country.

Now, in the nominating speech for the Democrats, Congress member Aguilar spoke again today and he pointed all of this out. Here is Congress member Aguilar saying, would it surprise anyone that in addition to not passing any legislation at all, Congress member Jordan, MAGA Republican Jim Jordan hasn't even put forward any legislation that's made it to a committee. He supports an extreme agenda and is hell-bent on banning abortion nationwide, gutting Medicare, gutting Social Security, and giving cover to January 6th attackers. Those aren't the values that we share. If we don't see a speaker elected in this round, there's going to be another candidate and another internal Republican conference vote and a secret ballot, and the country can't afford more delays and more chaos. 15 days should be enough.

I yield back. And meanwhile, on the Republican side, they're basically just attacking and trolling each other. One of the names that people voted on to become Speaker over Jim Jordan on the Republican side was their own Speaker of the House, John Boehner. And I'll show you this moment where Congressmember Patrick McHenry, who's the Speaker pro temp, says the name of John Boehner, who received a vote. And people start applauding and it just kind of sums up the Republican Party nicely right here. Here, play this clip. The state of Michigan has received one. John right, so where do we go from here? After the vote where Congressmember Jordan was rejected as Speaker of the House, there was a decision whether they were going to go for another round on Wednesday or whether they were going to go back to a private caucus and see if they could try to work something out. On Monday, as I mentioned at the outset of this video, it seemed clear that Jim Jordan didn't have the votes.

Nonetheless, Jordan forced the vote on Tuesday. There were 20 no votes on Tuesday. There are now 22 no votes on Wednesday. So it doesn't appear that Jim Jordan has a path to becoming speaker. So what everyone's really discussing at this point is, can you empower Patrick McHenry, who you saw there with the gavel, the one who was Speaker Pro Tem. Can you empower him to become a Speaker for a limited period of time with limited powers, but nonetheless open the House of Representatives so it could at least function, appropriation bills can be passed, and ideally the government can be funded?
