I'm Ben Micellis from the Midas Touch Network. I want to show you what the MAGA Republicans
are saying in their own words about the debt ceiling and how they want to hold our economy
hostage. The first clip I want to show you is from today where MAGA Republican Speaker of the House
Kevin McCarthy is asked about what, if any, concessions has he given to Democrats over
debt ceiling negotiations. Play this clip.
Let's do that. That's all we're asking. We're being reasonable.
You're going to need Democratic votes, probably in the House, definitely in the Senate. You're
a Democrat in the White House. Why not offer a single concession beyond saying we're not
going to default? We've offered a lot of concessions. The cap
on the spending is a Democrat idea. The work requirement
was a Democrat idea. I can't help it if the Democrats have become so extreme and now it's
a party of Bernie Sanders than the party where Joe Biden was elected. Joe Biden is the president
of the United States. He is the head Democrat. But if AOC and Bernie Sanders is
going to run their party, that's not my fault. I'm not even sure Bernie Sanders is a registered
Democrat. You know, Kevin McCarthy is lying in that clip, but the very premise of that question
is erroneous in the sense that there needs to be a negotiation over raising the debt ceiling.
Never before has that taken place.
Never before has the debt ceiling been used as a negotiating wedge. The debt ceiling and raising the debt ceiling is all about paying for the past debts that have been incurred by our country, by past administrations, by past Congress.
I'll show you this clip of when Donald Trump was in office, what he had to say
about raising the debt ceiling, how it would be unthinkable for it to be used as a negotiating
wedge. Play this clip. I can't imagine anybody ever even thinking of using the debt ceiling
as a negotiating wedge. When I first came into office, I asked about
the debt ceiling and I understand debt ceilings and I certainly understand the highest rated
credit ever in history and a debt ceiling. And I said, I remember to Senator Schumer
and to Nancy Pelosi, would anybody ever use that to negotiate with? They said, absolutely
not. That's a sacred element of our country.
They can't use the debt ceiling to negotiate.
But you see, for MAGA Republicans, they want to hold our economy hostage.
For them, our economy is a negotiating wedge and we are the hostage.
Who said that?
Matt Gaetz, MAGA Republican Matt Gaetz. Here's a recording of
him saying that the MAGA Republicans should not negotiate with their hostage. Play this clip.
So would you say then the conservatives like yourself are becoming more pessimistic about
the state of negotiations if there's a bipartisan deal in sight maybe? Or how would you like characterize the mood among your conservative
colleagues right now? I think my conservative colleagues, for the most part, support limit,
save, grow. And they don't feel like we should negotiate with our hostage. And who is the hostage? Our economy. You, Democrats, Republicans,
independents, everybody is the hostage, okay? These are real serious issues and we need real
serious people to do the right thing. That just doesn't exist in today's Republican Party,
where people like Lauren Boebert are in control. This is Lauren Boebert on a show with Steve
Bannon just this week talking about how she doesn't even believe that the debt ceiling is
a real thing and that she doesn't believe there are documents to back
it up. And she believes that the Treasury Department is just bluffing. So it's all a
massive conspiracy to these MAGA Republicans. Play this clip.
Do people in your district agree with that? Would they like to see what this financial
crisis is about? Absolutely. This federal government needs to be much more transparent
than it's been in the past.
I'm grateful that we have the gavel to have actual oversight,
but there has to be transparency for the American people
rather than just gaslighting on media all the time and on the news all the time.
That's all that has been taking place for years now.
The American people are kept in the dark about what's really going on.
They get talking points fed to them by the DCCC and by Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi and Akeem Jeffries.
And then the media helped push that.
And they're being completely gaslit.
So let's produce the documents and show us real information.
And if you can't, well, maybe you just made the whole thing up.
And we're not going to default on June 1st.
And on this show with Steve Bannon,
Lauren Boebert, like Matt Gaetz, says we shouldn't negotiate at all. We've put forward our plan and
Democrats need to accept it, take it or leave it, even though the plan that they put forward
would increase the deficit by trillions of dollars, according to nonpartisan organizations, according to the
Congressional Budget Office, according to any economist who's actually a credible source of
information. But play this clip of Lauren Boebert. Are they actually negotiating in good faith? Are
you hearing real proposals coming forward?
And why is McCarthy even listening to this?
Because you've got a bill.
Let them pass something, right?
Right.
I don't think that we should be negotiating anything other than our bill.
We have done our job.
We passed the bill.
The Senate is the one that needs to come to the table and actually present something.
What is there to negotiate?
I haven't seen a plan.
I've seen our plan. I haven't seen anything else. So, you know, I wasn't a part of
the meetings that took place with the folks that McCarthy sent over and the speaker himself went
there. But, you know, there were walkouts there and they're saying this isn't in good faith. So
I don't know what's being said in those rooms in totality, but it doesn't sound like something
that's being done in good faith. And coming from this administration and from the Democrat Party,
is there anything ever in good faith? This is sponsored by BetterHelp. Look,

Here's a flashback where Lauren Boebert compared raising the debt ceiling to writing checks for
new shoes. Play this clip. We suspend the filibuster in the Senate so we could raise
the debt ceiling. You know. That's not how regular
finances work. I've tried the tactic where I go to my husband and say, look, I really want these
pair of shoes. We don't have money, but we have checks. And he says that doesn't work. So I don't
know why it works in Congress. Maybe that's our key issue here. Right, right. Okay, so what has
changed? Again, let's focus on what MAGA Republicans
are saying in their own words at the so-called CNN town hall when Donald Trump was asked by the
interviewer, Caitlin Collins, you once said using the debt ceiling as a negotiating wedge could not
happen. And Donald Trump's response was, well, I said that when I was in office. Play the clip.
Save this country. Our country is dying. Our country is being destroyed by stupid people,
by very stupid people. You once said that using the debt ceiling as a negotiating wedge
just could not happen. You said that when you were in the Oval Office.
That's when I was president. So why is it different now that you're out of office?
Because now I'm not president
you know these aren't laughing matters these are very very serious serious issues and you have this
clownish fascist idiocracy mega Party, just simply not taking their responsibilities
serious and holding America hostage. I'll show you a serious Congress member,
Democratic Congress member, James McGovern, who debunks all of these MAGA Republican
talking points. Play the clip. Let me begin by saying I can't imagine anyone ever thinking of using the debt ceiling as a
negotiation wedge. It's a very, very sacred thing in our country, the debt ceiling. We can never
play with it. Mr. Chairman, that may sound familiar because it's the words of former
President Donald Trump in 2019,
who acknowledged that then-Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer agreed not to use the debt limit as a weapon.
In case anyone forgot, Democrats behaved responsibly and kept our word.
Now, four years later, House Republicans have not hesitated to use the debt ceiling as a political cudgel. This is extortion. If Democrats don't give Speaker McCarthy everything he wants, Republicans want to literally push the entire economy off a cliff,
causing catastrophic, lasting, irreparable damage to America. Even though the GOP
voted three times to prevent default when Trump was president,
even though 97 percent of the debt was accumulated before President Biden took office,
and over 25 percent, and let me repeat that, over 25 percent of the debt was accumulated
under Donald Trump, even though Republicans had no problem adding trillions to the debt with their giveaways to
big oil and Wall Street CEOs, even though their first bill this Congress added $114 billion
to the deficit, now they want to play Russian roulette with our economy and refuse to pay our
bills unless we make devastating cuts that would hurt everyday people. Folks, these are just the facts.
Share this video, please, with friends, colleagues, co-workers, family members.
Let them know the issues and let them know as well that about 96% of all debt was created
before President Biden was ever in office. Over 25% of all debt was created in the history of
the United States was created during the four years of the Trump administration. During the
Trump administration, they increased the deficit by over $7 trillion. So far in the Biden administration, the deficit has decreased by nearly $2 trillion.
That's just the data.
That's just the facts.
And I know you have MAGA Republicans who don't want to even believe the earth is round, but it is.
Oh, you don't believe me?
Play this clip.
More and more, I'm like, it doesn't make sense. So is it or not? I don't know 100 percent, but it's just it doesn't make sense the other way.
Now that you say it is the people that defend the globe don't know anything about the globe, because if they knew a tenth of what Matt and I know about the globe, they would be flat earthers because it's absolutely ridiculous. I can't unsee this. All the globes everywhere. I turn on TV. There's globes in the background.
There's globes on there right here. Like this would be a globe if I was a normal person.
Like everywhere there's globes, you see them all the time. I mean, it's constant. My children are
like, mama, go, go, go, go. They're everywhere. And that's what they do to brainwash. And so
for me, if it is not a conspiracy, if it is real, why are you pushing so hard? Everywhere I go,
every store, you buy a globe. There's globes everywhere. Every movie, every TV show, news media.
