I'm Ben Mycelis from the Midas Touch Network, and we are broadcasting live on YouTube for
historic developments that are unfolding in the House of Representatives right now.
The House of Representatives has not failed to elect a Speaker of the House on a first roll call vote since 1923,
and that has taken place just moments ago as Kevin McCarthy lost the first roll call vote.
We see that Hakeem Jeffries, who is set to be the minority leader, the leader of the
Democratic Party, actually got more votes than Kevin McCarthy in the first roll call vote.
McCarthy received 202 votes. Jeffries received 211 votes. Andy Biggs received 10 votes and nine votes went to others. So 19 Republican votes against Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House.
Now we are in the second round of roll call votes and Kevin McCarthy will lose.
We can announce here on the Midas Dutch Network.
We'll lose the second round of roll call votes. We are now bringing you live
what's going on right now in the House of Representatives on the floor, where McCarthy
has 159 votes, Hakeem Jeffries has 157 votes, and Jim Jordan now has 17 votes. So before there were 19 votes against Kevin McCarthy.
Now there are 17 votes against Kevin McCarthy.
And that number continues to rise.
And we'll see if that number hits 19 is something to look for.
But based upon those voting no to Kevin McCarthy or those now voting for Jim Jordan,
Kevin McCarthy will not be able to secure
the speakership in the second round. So then what happens? Well, then it could go to a third round,
a fourth round, a fifth round, and on and on and on. In the example that I gave you, in 1923, lawmakers agreed to reelect Frederick Gallet, a Massachusetts Republican, on the ninth ballot.
But the MAGA Republican extremists who said they are not supporting Kevin McCarthy seem to be very firm in that position. And what we've seen throughout the day, and I want to recap what's transpired thus far,
is complete and utter chaos and disarray within the Republican Party. And this comes as
Kevin McCarthy had already moved in to the speakership suite. Just think about that.
Just think about the level of arrogance. I'm not sure if we have the video of GOP leader McCarthy moving in to the speakership suite. Meanwhile, he has failed to
secure the 218 votes he's going to need. He may have to move all of his stuff back. Do we have
that footage? Let's play this clip. So I'm sure our YouTube viewers got a great delight
out of seeing the movers moving in. They may have to move all the stuff back.
It looks increasingly like that is what's going to take place for all of our pure audio listeners
out there. We just showed the video of the moving crew, moving all the stuff into Kevin McCarthy,
believing he was going to be the speaker of the house. And we talked earlier about some of this
infighting and chaos that's been taking place today. I want to recap all of that right now quickly for you so you're all caught up on what's transpired today where it's been MAGA Republicans attacking MAGA Republicans. Kevin McCarthy giving a press conference and calling out Matt Gaetz directly by name and claiming that Matt Gaetz said that he doesn't care if they even go to a plurality.
We'll elect Hakeem Jeffries, saying that that the Republicans would rather have Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrat, over anybody from the Republican Party.
And McCarthy is specifically calling Gaetz out by name. Let's play this clip.
For a long time, I've been leader for four years. I came into this position and we had
less than 200 members. We are now sitting in the majority. We put forth to the American public a
commitment to America. There's times we're going to have to argue with our own members if they're
looking at for only positions for themselves, not for the country. For the last two months,
we worked together
as a whole conference to develop rules that empower all members. But we're not empowering
certain members over others. Last night, I was presented the only way to have 218 votes
if I provided certain members with certain positions, certain gavels to take over the
church committee to have certain budgets. And they even came to the position where one Matt Gates said, I don't care if we go to plurality and we elect Hakeem
Jeffries and it hurts the new frontline members not to get reelected. Well, that's not about
America. And I will always fight to put the American people first, not a few individuals
that want something for themselves. So we may have a battle on the floor, but the battle is for the conference
and the country. And that's fine with me. So before the first roll call vote that Kevin
McCarthy lost, and it's being reported that he gave a speech to all of the Republicans in the
basement as they were about to enter the House floor and his speech to all of the Republican
members of why they should vote for
him was some variation of what you just saw, where he screamed, I earned this job, to which
Lauren Boebert responded, bullshit, and screamed at him before they all walked on to take the vote.
And so what we're seeing is these different factions develop where on the one hand, you have people like Gosar and Biggs and Gates and Boebert.
And on the other side, you've got people like Stefanik and Marjorie Taylor Greene, of all
people, supporting Kevin McCarthy.
So here you have a clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene basically calling out Matt Gates and
others and saying that they are not putting their country first.
Let's play this clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene outside of the floor during the voting process earlier today.
If my friends in the Freedom Caucus, Matt Gaetz and others, will not take the win when they have it,
they're proving to the country that they don't care about doing the right thing for America.
They're proving to the country that they're just a destructionist. And that for the, for America. They're proving to the
country that they're just a destructionist. And that's, that's not what we need to do as a party.
That's, that's why Republicans fail. And I'm really tired of it. So.
Here's a clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene, also calling people like Gates and Boebert her
supposed friends play this clip.
I haven't asked for one thing for myself, and I'm the only Republican that has zero committees.
So you would think I would be the one in there asking for something, but I haven't done that.
But I find out that it's my Freedom Caucus colleagues and my supposed friends that went and did that, and they asked nothing for
me. Nothing. That's what I found out in there. I'm furious. I'm not asking anything for me.
They didn't ask anything about me. I'm angry they didn't ask about me. In the same one sentence
where her saying that she doesn't care about herself, all she says is that she's pissed off
at them for not caring about her. I mean, it's just so typical.
For those watching, we're covering here live right now and giving a recap of the historical developments.
There you have it. You see it, folks, right there.
What I was looking for and what I wanted to see if this occurred,
would there be any support that would be moving towards Kevin McCarthy from the first round to the second round,
because in the first roll call vote that Kevin McCarthy had lost, we're putting it up on the
screen now, you had 10 Republicans vote for Biggs over McCarthy, and you had nine vote for others.
And let's pull that back up now, what we're seeing live. As we're watching it live
now again, we have the Democrat receiving more votes than Kevin McCarthy, Hakeem Jeffries with
197 to McCarthy's 183. But the key number I want you all to be focusing on is that number 19 right
there, which is the same, which is showing that those 19 Republicans, and some we knew were
going to object to Kevin McCarthy becoming the speaker before, but a lot of other new names as
well being added to the list in addition to the usual suspects like the Gates and the Boeberts
and the Biggs and the Gosars and that crew right there. But no, that 19 seems like they're staying
firm and that they will not be voting for Kevin McCarthy. So Kevin McCarthy lost on the first
roll call vote, which had not happened since 1923. He's now lost the second roll call vote. And let's just see if they're going to keep going
on and on and on throughout the day. So we've been bringing you right here live some of the
recap of what's been taking place. We showed you some other videos so far of Kevin McCarthy
calling out Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene calling out Matt Gaetz, Matt Gaetz by name.
Here we have a video of Marjorie Taylor Greene calling out Matt Gaetz, Matt Gaetz by name.
Here we have a video of Marjorie Taylor Greene, who's jumped on to Steve Bannon's show and is raging about Matt Gaetz, Scott Perry, and Chip Roy. Let's play this clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene.
An official position. And I also found out that no one went in there and negotiated anything for
me, but I haven't asked for anything for
myself. You see, that's the difference, Steve. I'm not in there demanding Marjorie, Marjorie,
Marjorie. I'm in there saying for the American people, for the American people, for the American
people. And that pisses me off when we have other Republicans in there saying, trying to tell the
base. Let me remind you, Matt Gaetz, his first vote in Congress
was for Paul Ryan as speaker. And then he went on and cheerleaded Paul Ryan while I was at home,
pissed off at Paul Ryan because he was failing President Trump and failing our MAGA agenda.
You know, Chip Roy, who everybody's saying Chip Roy's conservative. Chip Roy did not object on
January 6th to Joe Biden's electoral college votes. No,
he voted for Joe Biden's electoral college votes. And let me tell you something else.
Chip Roy, you know what else? He set out the vote for the January 6th committee. He did not vote
against it. He set it out because he was for it. You want to know something else? There's plenty
of people with voting records. Scott Perry, the chairman of our Freedom Caucus, before his general election, he would not vote against the gay marriage bill because he was scared how it was going to affect him in his general election.
I'm sorry, that is not courage.
That is fear.
And he was scared of election results, and he didn't do the right thing.
But when the bill came back around that he did not know it was going to do, none of us knew it was coming back after his election. How to win friends and influence people right there, folks. I mean, if you speak that way and you basically just called all of the people in your own political party cowards, you called them traitors, you called them not real Republicans, how do you expect them to kind of come along and then support any position that you make. One of the things
as I watch a video like that, and I hate to say this, but it makes people like Mitch McConnell
seem likable. When you see that, you go, Mitch McConnell compared to that is like a... That's
what we're dealing with, that a Mitch McConnell comes off looking like a fairly normal person.
By the way, you've got President Biden who's going to be headed out to Kentucky to have an event, a bipartisan event, to talk about the infrastructure bill with McConnell and discuss how they can move the nation forward.
I guess, you know, this kind of bipartisanship is also being fueled by the
type of clips that we're showing you right now. And it's, I think, also obvious to Republican
senators that these MAGA extremists, these radicals, and that's the right way to refer to
them, not as conservative. So what we don't call them conservative here on the Midas Touch Network
is there's nothing conservative about their positions.
But they got a lot of Republican senators looking at these extremists in the House of
Representatives and just saying they can't govern.
They can't do anything.
And it's true.
They can't govern at all.
And they are proving it here each and every moment.
I want to show you now after you just saw that video of Marjorie
Taylor Greene, here's basically Lauren Boebert's retort where she talks about, here we are being
sworn at instead of sworn in. That's her slogan. You can't make this up here. Play Boebert.
And so now here we are being sworn at instead of being sworn in.
And we could have had this solved months ago.
I have been working every day to unify the Republican Party for the American people. And yesterday, we had a deal that was not a selfish deal in any way
for Kevin McCarthy to get him the gavel on the first ballot.
And he eagerly dismissed us.
Eagerly, Kevin McCarthy eagerly dismissed Boebert and Gates.
I mean, let's set aside America,
political parties here for a second.
What you're seeing there, again, is not conservative.
Set aside the label of Republican. What you're seeing is radical extremist chaos.
And giving these people a leadership role, they will utterly, utterly destroy our country.
They don't know how to lead.
All they know how to do is spread hate,
to spread disinformation,
to have all of this disinfo out there.
I want to cut to right now.
Let's cut to what's going on live right now.
The vote has just ended.
Let's cut to the stream right now and right now. The vote has just ended.
Let's cut to the stream right now, and then I'll be back in one moment.
What you're watching now is the floor live after the vote.
Representative McCarthy does not have the votes, so a third speaker's vote is expected. You're watching the House floor
live right now. For those just tuning in, this is historic in the sense that the House has not
failed to elect a speaker on the first roll call vote since 1923. And in 1923, it actually took nine, nine ballots to get to a speaker of the
House. And one of the things we were looking at here as Kevin McCarthy failed to secure
the speakership in the first roll call vote was that there were 19 Republicans who opposed him. 19 Republicans opposed him again on the second
round of roll call votes. So there is no movement from the first roll call to the second roll call
there. I want to show you some more clips. We've been showing you some of the developments of today,
what's going on in kind of rapid succession so you can get fully caught up
here on the Midas Touch network. I want to show you right now, this is a little bit of
schadenfreude right now for me, but I want to go back to a 2020 interview with Maria Bartoloma
that Kevin McCarthy was on, where Kevin McCarthy was saying that Speaker Pelosi did not have the votes right
back then. Let's play this clip. We know in January because to become speaker, you have to
have 218 votes on the floor. When she went up for that vote two years ago, there were 15 Democrats
who voted against her. Ten of those Democrats will be coming to Congress. Those 10 vote against her. Ten of those Democrats will be coming to Congress. Those ten vote against her again.
She will not be Speaker of the House because she won't have 118 because of the gains of the
Republicans. There you have it, folks. Kevin McCarthy trying to throw shade at Speaker Pelosi.
But as we know, everything these MAGA Republicans do is all projection. It all comes from their own
deep insecurities. It all comes from their own criminality and the chaos that they perpetrate.
I want to show you now a clip from earlier in the day of Matt Gaetz saying that him and
these other 19 Republicans who are opposing Kevin McCarthy were threatened by Kevin McCarthy and
other Republicans, that they were being threatened. Play this clip.
But we were threatened by my committee chairman to be on the Armed Services Committee, Mr. Rogers,
that if we did not vote for Mr. McCarthy, we would be removed from committees. Our position
is that if Kevin McCarthy is the Speaker of the House and we don't have an ability to ensure that there is oomph behind the agenda and energy behind our oversight, that the committee assignments don't mean that much anyway.
I'm not here to participate in some puppet show where we pass a bunch of messaging bills, send them to the Senate, watch them die, fail to use leverage, and don't hold the Biden administration accountable.
I don't want to relive the Benghazi experience where it's just theater
pretending to be oversight, right? We can do better than that. And that's our purpose today.
He says we need the oomph. So you have Matt Gaetz saying that he and other Republicans
have been threatened by other Republicans like
Kevin McCarthy and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Then Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling people like
Matt Gaetz and others, calling them cowards, calling them not real Republicans, saying that
they're not America first. Here's Marjorie Taylor Greene, I think also on the Bannon podcast,
where she says, Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert, they don't know the art of the deal. Play the clip.
Factory. But here's the problem, Steve. My friends in the Freedom Caucus and Matt and Lauren Boebert
and others, they don't know how to make the art of the deal because they aren't willing to take
the win when they have one. They're making this about never, Kevin,
and that is the wrong move. They don't understand the art of the deal. Meanwhile, you got Democrats
just kind of sitting back and watching this unfold and telling the American people, see,
I told you so. I think literally the popcorn is out right now. Actually, the popcorn is out.
I used literally the right way there.
We have Congressman Ted Lieu, who's just standing there in front of his office saying he's ready to go, about to go to the House floor, and he's holding a bag of popcorn.
This is Representative Pete Aguilar on the floor of the House of Representatives
throwing some shade. Let's play this clip. Today, Madam Clerk, House Democrats are united. The contrast could just not be more stark.
Look, Democrats are united as adults in the room trying to solve our nation's problems.
And one of the things I always talk about here on the Midas Touch Network is,
do I agree with President Biden on everything?
No. That would be weird. Do I agree with Democrats on everything? No. It would be equally weird.
But do I believe that Democrats are adults in the room who are focused on issues that matter
to the American people, that they are focused on jobs while Republicans
engage in the same chaos and disorder you are watching right now, and frankly, cruelty
to try to keep the minimum wage so low. You've got Democrats who are fighting not just for
a living wage, but for a wage with dignity so people can be stable
and not have to work multiple jobs while Republicans try to block that. Democrats
are trying to lower the cost of prescription drug prices to make healthcare accessible and
affordable to all, to make education accessible and affordable to all, to protect a woman's right to her bodily
autonomy, to protect the right of Americans to marry who they love, to protect military veterans
who return home. The same type of chaos you're watching right now. Remember Republicans fist bumping each other while they denied our
military life-saving healthcare from exposure to toxic burn pits, right? And sometimes do the
Democrats, the way Democrats implement this policy, or should they have done more or less
in infrastructure spending? We can have those discussions, but at least we're having
intelligible adult conversations versus the types of things you're seeing now or we've been seeing
with MAGA extremism. You don't know the art of the deal. You're a traitor. You're a traitor and
you're a coward. You're a coward traitor. You're not MAGA enough. You're not America first enough. You're America second. Pronouns, pronouns.
It's like, let's focus on the issues that matter to the American people, please. And is this
highlighted anywhere more than this MAGA fraud, George Santos? Does anybody represent who
Republicans are, who the Trump MAGA Republican Party is, who Kevin McCarthy is
more than George Santos. And I think we actually have a clip of George Santos voting for Kevin
McCarthy to be the speaker. Can we play this clip of just George Santos? He's sitting there
all by himself. Nobody wants to touch him other than Kevin McCarthy because he needs his
vote. And he's just sitting there just like voting for Kevin McCarthy here. Play this clip.
Santos. McCarthy. Sarbanes. Jeffries. Scalise.
I think there's also a video of Santos picking his nose, and I think he had a booger at the opening.
So one of the things he's doing, and I know that's immature, but can we play the clip of Santos picking his nose and rolling off his booger at the opening of the 118th Congress, please.
Okay, sorry, I had to show that too. That's the immature side of me occasionally had to show you that. I also want to show you here a clip. This was interesting. You have AOC
and Matt Gaetz having a conversation. I don't know if anyone can read the lips here, but this was an
interesting conversation. What I can see at the end is AOC saying, interesting. What I think she
says before that is, we wouldn't be doing that. Then Matt Gaetz turns his back to her, says something,
and she goes, interesting. I can't make out what she says at first, but
I believe she's saying those two things. Let's play this clip. what an interesting moment right there and as that's going on I mean I think both just doing
it to almost further troll and mock Kevin McCarthy. After Kevin McCarthy lost the first roll call vote, for those just tuning in,
Kevin McCarthy has lost two roll call votes.
Historic development right there where 19 Republicans have voted against Kevin McCarthy.
As you see there, Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader,
receiving more votes there than Kevin McCarthy received As you see there, Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader, receiving more votes there
than Kevin McCarthy received right there. This has not happened since 1923, so we're going to the
third roll call vote. In 1923, it took nine rounds, but folks, at the time of this live recording, those 19 Republicans are saying under no uncertain terms
they are not going to support Kevin McCarthy. And a lot of the clips that we've been showing,
it's devolved into utter chaos right now on the House floor and outside of the House floor among
MAGA Republicans where you've got Marjorie Taylor
Greene, who's calling these other Republicans cowards, saying they're not real Republicans.
You've got people like Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert yelling and literally Boebert cursing
at Kevin McCarthy. And so you've got this back and forth going on, And you've got these 19 Republicans. You see it there, 19 voted for
Jim Jordan. Do we have the clip? So Jim Jordan gave a speech and Jim Jordan said,
I want you to give your support to Kevin McCarthy. Immediately after Jim Jordan gave that speech,
Matt Gaetz then gave a speech nominating Jim Jordan.
That's the chaos that's going on.
If we have that clip, let's pull it up right now.
To nominate the most talented, hardest working member of the Republican conference
who just gave a speech with more vision than we have ever heard from the alternative,
I'm nominating Jim Jordan.
Jim Jordan is humble, perhaps today humble to a fault.
Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who wants it so
bad.
Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who has sold shares
of themselves for more than a decade to get it.
Maybe Jim Jordan is the right person for Speaker of the House because he is not beholden to
the lobbyists and special interests who have corrupted this place and corrupted this nation
under the leadership of both Republicans and Democrats.
Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person for Speaker of the House because he wouldn't
fight us when we try to get a term limits bill on the floor. Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right
person because he wouldn't fight us when we try to put a balanced budget on the floor and vote for
it. And maybe Jim Jordan is the right person because he would endorse the plan that was built
by the Texas delegation to finally secure our border. Mr. Jordan said in his nomination
that there are certain bills that we have
to pass to fix the problem.
The challenge is the alternative has
been someone voting for the very bills that
have caused these problems.
Mr. Jordan says that we cannot accept legislation
like the omnibus.
And I fully agree.
And if Jim Jordan were Speaker of the House, if he were the leader of the Republican team,
we wouldn't have that circumstance choking the economy of our country, increasing inflation,
and diminishing the prospects of a better life for our fellow Americans. There you have Matt Gaetz saying that Kevin McCarthy sold shares of himself. I want you to
think about that right there. And that's the type of language we are seeing right now as this vote
for Kevin McCarthy or the vote for the speakership, the vote against Kevin McCarthy,
I should say, has devolved into utter chaos, utter pandemonium. But what would you expect
when we're dealing with MAGA extremists? We've got Marjorie Taylor Greene today calling these
other Republicans essentially traitors, saying that they are not real Republicans, saying that they don't understand the art of the deal,
calling them her supposed friends, just trashing them, saying that they're not
really actually supportive of the Republican agenda. And then you've got what we just saw
there, Matt Gaetz saying that Kevin McCarthy sold shares of himself. I want to play this clip. So this was after the
first roll call vote. Again, for those just tuning in, this is a historic development in our country
right now that you are watching live right here on the Midas Touch Network. The House has not failed to elect a Speaker of the House on the first roll call vote
since 1923. In 1923, it took nine ballots to finally elect a Speaker of the House. We are now
in 2023 on ballot number three. Kevin McCarthy has lost twice. And for those just tuning in, let's pull up the clip.
I'm going to call my producer salty. That's when I say salty, salty. Let's pull up the clip though
of Kevin McCarthy, again, moving in to the speaker's office, despite the fact that he did
not have the votes. I want everyone watching this, I want you to see
this video of Kevin McCarthy having the moving staff move him into the Speaker's office.
And now it seems like they're going to have to move his stuff back out. Let's play that clip. I don't know if you saw the guy standing there who kind of looked at it.
I don't know who he supports or what his views are,
but he did have kind of a snarky smile there as he looked at it,
saying, I'm not sure if that's how you're sure that's the right move You sure we want to keep that, move that in? It seems a little bit premature. And so after the
first roll call vote that Kevin McCarthy lost, this was the scene on the house floor with Kevin
and Elise Stefanik, where you can see the fear, you see the desperation. You see the isolation on their faces. Here, let's play this clip. so no one's even looking at kevin mccarthy no one's even acknowledging ke Kevin McCarthy. No one's even acknowledging Kevin McCarthy's presence.
For those just watching on pure audio, it's Elise Stefanik and Kevin McCarthy just looking utterly worried.
They're standing there in the middle of the House floor.
This should be Kevin McCarthy's coronation day or the coronation of any speaker of the House.
And not only are people not voting for him,
not only does he not have the support of his own party, like no one wants anything to do with him.
I think the only person that people want less to do with is George Santos, by the way. And we've
got some footage of George Santos that I just have to show you. So this is a video of
George Santos arriving on Capitol Hill. He did not answer the multiple questions he was asked,
only telling the reporters that he's going to vote for Kevin McCarthy as speaker. Can we play
this clip of George Santos arriving on Capitol Hill? Your constituents? Do you feel like you're qualified to serve in this
Congress right now? How do you hope your constituents can trust you, even though that
you've misrepresented your biography to them? What's your response to calls for a House ethics
investigation by Nick Lohota? Do you have any statements about your campaign and how you hope to govern?
Do you hope to carry out your full term?
What can you say to reassure your constituents that you'll do what you said you were going to do on your campaign trail,
given the concerns that have come up about statements you've made in the last few months? Welcome to Congress, traitor.
Welcome to Congress, traitor.
We reported yesterday as well that the Brazilian authorities in Rio de Janeiro have opened back up the criminal investigation since George Santos fled the jurisdiction after engaging in criminal
conduct in Brazil in 2008. The Brazilian authorities couldn't locate him until everybody
in the world can now locate the traitor fraud. And he was writing phony treks. Apparently his
mother was a caretaker for an elderly person in Brazil and Santos stole
the elderly person's checkbook and bought himself shoes and clothes and then fled from Brazil. He's
been under criminal investigation there. Santos has reflect on this day, this historic day, January 3rd, 2023,
the day that Republicans are supposed to take over the House of Representatives and announce the
Speaker of the House. And everything we've been saying here on the Midas Touch Network, the chaos, the complete and utter disaster that is the MAGA party, their inability
to govern, their inability to get anything done. You've got Kevin McCarthy. We're pulling up live
right now what is going on on the House floor. Again, 19 Republicans voting against Kevin McCarthy on the second round of voting. So you've got that playing out in the House of Representatives with MAGA Republicans saying, you're a traitor. No, you're a traitor. No, to petulant third graders. And then you've got
George Santos in there. I mean, literally picking his nose. Here, just pull the clip
up one more time of him picking his nose. Literally picking his nose. Play the clip.
So you got George Santos picking his nose. you got George Santos heading into his office
you know and you see the fear in Santos's eyes perhaps only rivaled by the fear on Kevin
McCarthy's eyes as Santos is walking into his office I mean you, you got Santos, this phony, this traitor, this person under criminal
investigation. And he's like, he looks like, whoa, people care about this. Yeah, people want to hold
you accountable. So this is Santos heading into his office. He gets lost a little bit too, like
he goes to the wrong area. He looks like heading to your first day of school is what he looks like, uh, like heading to your first day of school.
Um, is that what he looks like?
Um, and want to give special shout out to Lely Ibsa, uh, follow her at Lely Ibsa, L-A-L-E-E-I-B-S-S-A.
Cause she's the one who's filming what we're showing you right now and want to give her a special shout out there.
So check out her Twitter account because she's got some incredible live updates. And I want to thank her for the content that she captured
that we can share with you here. But let's play this clip of Santos heading into his office.
Do you have any statements to your constituents?
Do you have any statements to your constituents?

But it also highlights just the lack of leadership in Kevin McCarthy. And I said, I don't want to
ever give Kevin McCarthy any advice at all. But if Kevin McCarthy, and I know Kevin McCarthy needs
all of his votes, but let's face it, Kevin McCarthy has already agreed to a rules change before this vote was even taken,
where people, by the way, mind you, still oppose him. So he basically gave into a deal without
even securing the requisite votes at all he needed to become speaker, where he would allow five Republicans who wanted to, to basically vote to remove him
at any time, essentially removing any power he would have if he was the speaker in the first
place. He could be removed at any time based on the rules. But even after conceding that,
you want to talk about the art of the deal, Marjorie Taylor Greene? That's clearly not the art
of the deal because you just gave the Republicans who are still voting against you the rules change
that even if you got in, they could just remove you and clearly they would be able to remove you.
How do we know this? Because they have been 19, 19 Republicans who in round one and round two, who have blocked you from becoming
speaker of the house. So they clearly have five. They've got 14 more than that. So even if you
were to become the speaker, you have no power at all. And again, the point here is it goes to
Kevin McCarthy's utter and complete weakness. And it also shows
with George Santos, because if you can't look at George Santos, if you can't look at Santos and go
bad, no, you don't get to become a member of Congress. After all of the lies that George
Santos told, humiliating the most disgusting and despicable lies,
claiming that his mom died in the World Trade Center and that his mom then survived the World Trade Center bombing attack on 9-11,
and then claiming that both his mom and his dad were there in 9-11,
then claiming he had four people who worked for him who died at the Pulse nightclub shooting, claiming he had brain cancer that got cured, lying about every job he's ever held, lying about
his nonprofit, lying about every school he's attended, lying that he even attended college.
And then it goes to the point, the biggest of the big lies, and that's all pretty big lies there, though, lying about money. I mean,
how did you go from having $50,000 to all of a sudden getting millions of dollars that you're
now loaning your campaign when you were evicted twice just a few years ago for not paying $2,000
in rent? And Kevin McCarthy can't stand up to that. So if you can't look at George
Santos and go, George Santos, bad. If you can't look at an insurrection and go, insurrection,
bad. If you can't look at election denialism and say, bad. If you can't do that and you're so weak
to do that, then you're just going to get rolled over by everybody because you
literally stand for nothing. You know who's having a good time today as well, and you see it.
She's speaking with all the radical extremists, and she's doing it in a very funny way to obviously
troll Kevin McCarthy, but it's AOC. So let me just show you this clip right now, this photo of
Mrs. AOC in a conversation with Paul Gosar. And then I want to show you the,
let's play the video of her speaking with Paul Gosar. Play the clip. Thank you. You know, it reminds me too of, you know, there's some characters in Shakespeare too, who,
you know, will speak to the, it's just so obvious what she's doing. And it's Shakespearean in a way,
as they're all kind of eating themselves alive, she's going to them and she's speaking to them,
you know, and kind of adding fuel to the fire,
the dumpster fire that is the MAGA extremist party.
Do we have that clip too? For those just tuning in right now of Matt Gates and AOC speaking.
And for those, again, who can read lips,
let us know in the chat what's being said here.
But check that out.
Let's pull that clip up. So, folks, this is a historic day you are watching right now. where somebody seeking the speakership has failed to secure the speakership on the first
roll call vote in 1923. It took nine rounds. You're watching now live the floor of the House
of Representatives. We see Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of the Democratic Party, who's thus far in both round one and round two, has received more votes than Kevin McCarthy.
In round two, Kevin McCarthy received 203 votes.
Jeffries received 212 votes.
Jim Jordan has received 19 votes, although Jim Jordan said, don't vote for me. But the MAGA
extremists who are opposing Kevin McCarthy saying, oh, that's just Jim Jordan being humble. We all
should vote for him. So they voted for Jim Jordan and then 19 votes for Jordan and then no votes for
any of the others and no present votes there. But you see right there now, we see Democrats on the floor. We're seeing
Congressman Aguilar. We're seeing a bunch of other Democrats with him. All seem very, very
confident, smiling, laughing. The mood is very different on the Republican side. Let's pull up
this clip of Kevin McCarthy with Elise Stefanik.
You can compare the mood that we just showed you with Kevin McCarthy and Elise Stefanik
after losing the first roll call vote, heading into lose the second roll call vote.
Let's play this clip of Stefanik. So So So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So So Completely different mood. Not only people not wanting to vote for Kevin McCarthy, but don't
even want to be near him. It's just like the clips we showed earlier of George Santos, where
nobody wants to be around George Santos and George Santos refusing to answer any questions to the press
as it was just announced Santos is under criminal investigation in Brazil after they've been able
to track him down now that the world knows what a fraud and traitor he is. For those just watching,
want to recap some of the events from earlier in the day with MAGA Republicans attacking other MAGA Republicans.
Let me just bring back up this clip. This was Kevin McCarthy saying that Matt Gaetz had said,
I don't care if we go to plurality and we elect Hakeem Jeffries. So you've got Kevin McCarthy,
who is attacking Matt Gaetz, who he needs to secure the votes, but they don't even understand like
how to be diplomatic and try to address these situations.
They just go right into their petulant third grade name calling, which when they're the
minority party, when they go on Fox and they can get a softball question by Hannity and
they can just yell about whatever thing they want to yell at in any given day and go
the green M&M woke way too woke. This is woke. That's woke, you know, and oh, pronouns. We're
talking about pronouns while Democrats are focused on health care and jobs and protecting a woman's
right over her body as Democrats are focused on the economy and
infrastructure and healthcare. That stuff by the Republicans, it may play on Fox, but here you see
it does not play on the floor of the House of Representatives when you got to govern. So here,
let's play this clip of Kevin McCarthy. For a long time, I've been leader for four years.
I came into this position and we had
less than 200 members. We are now sitting in the majority. We put forth to the American public a
commitment to America. There's times we're going to have to argue with our own members if they're
looking at for only positions for themselves, not for the country. For the last two months,
we worked together as a whole conference to develop rules that empower all members.
But we're not empowering certain members over others.
Last night, I was presented the only way to have 218 votes.
If I provided certain members with certain positions, certain gavels, to take over the church committee, to have certain budgets.
And they even came to the position where one, Matt Gates, said, I don't care if we go to plurality and we elect Hakeem Jeffries and it hurts the new frontline members not to get reelected.
Well, that's not about America.
And I will always fight to put the American people first, not a few individuals that want something for themselves.
So we may have a battle on the floor, but the battle is for the conference and the country.
And that's fine with me. I want to read this tweet by Representative Eric Swalwell that's breaking right now.
He says the following.
Let me put this to rest for the media reporting this.
There is no House Democrat who is going to help Kevin McCarthy today. Let me read that again from
Representative Eric Swalwell in case I can't be clearer or because the large media networks want
to push false narratives to try to help MAGA Republicans out in this situation. But let's
be very clear, and this is what Swalwell said, let me put this to rest for the media reporting this. There is no House Democrat who is going to
help Kevin McCarthy today. This is what Congress member Richie Torres said. And by the way,
Richie Torres from the Bronx has introduced the legislation, the Santos Act, to stop fraudulent MAGA politicians
like George Santos. Richie Torres says, Jim Jordan's nominating speech for Kevin McCarthy
yielded no new votes for Jim, yielded new votes for Jim Jordan, rather Kevin McCarthy. Let me just read it one more time.
Jim Jordan's nominating speech for Kevin McCarthy yielded new votes for Jim Jordan,
rather than Kevin McCarthy. And what he's referring to, if we pull up the screen from the first round of the votes, in the first round of votes, you had 10 votes for Biggs, nine votes for others.
And then as we turn to the second round of votes, there was 19 votes for Jim Jordan after
Jim Jordan gave that speech.
So lots of big developments here to report.
I want to also just share with you as well, for those just tuning in, this is what
Marjorie Taylor Greene said as she left the House floor. She talks about how her friends in the
Freedom Caucus, Matt Gaetz and others, that they're proving that they don't care about doing the right
thing for America. Play this clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene. If my friends in the Freedom Caucus, Matt Gaetz and others, will not take the win when they have
it, they're proving to the country that they don't care about doing the right thing for America.
They're proving to the country that they're just destructionists. And that's not what we need to
do as a party. That's why Republicans fail. And I'm really tired of it. So.
Representative Jamie Raskin, this is just breaking over the wire now. Jamie Raskin says,
this once in a century humiliation of a party's nominee for speaker is chickens coming home to roost for McCarthy, who whitewashed right-wing insurrectionism on the House floor. Nobody's getting killed now, but the House GOP now sleeps in the bed
they made with Trump and Bannon. Powerful words. I'll read it one more time. This once in a century humiliation of a
party's nominee for speaker is chickens coming home to roost for McCarthy who whitewashed right
wing insurrectionism on the House floor. Nobody's getting killed now, but the House GOP now sleeps
in the bed they made with Trump and Bannon. Let me read for you this post from Eli Mistal,
who writes, he gives a hypothetical conversation between McCarthy, Jeffries, and Pelosi.
McCarthy, hey Dems, do you think you could help me out now? Jeffries, you must have me confused
with some other guy. The bridges were burned. Now it's your turn to cry. Pelosi, cry me a river.
Presley, cry me a river. Porter, cry me a river. Jeffries, cry me a river. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So good. So good. Let me show you this other clip right now too. This is Marjorie Taylor Greene
from earlier in the day calling people like
Matt Gaetz, her supposed friends. She goes, I'm the only Republican that has zero committees.
And I find out that my supposed friends are doing this to me. Here, let's play this clip.
I haven't asked for one thing for myself, and I'm the only Republican that has zero committees. So you would
think I would be the one in there asking for something, but I haven't done that. But I find
out that it's my Freedom Caucus colleagues and my supposed friends that went and did that,
and they asked nothing for me. Nothing. That's what I found out in there. I'm furious. Read you this right now from Laura Loomer,
a MAGA extremist. It's what she wrote 27 minutes ago when she is part of the Matt Gates contingency
of never Kevin McCarthy. She goes, breaking. Kevin McCarthy fell short of the votes. He needs
to be speaker in the second vote. A third vote will now take place.
Keep voting against him until he drops out.
I don't care if the reps are there for a whole week doing vote after vote.
We will force Kevin to surrender.
We will force Kevin to surrender.
And that's coming from a MAGA extremist.
And mind you, Kevin McCarthy was trying to suck. And that's coming from a MAGA extremist. And mind you, Kevin McCarthy
was trying to suck up to that base. I mean, Kevin McCarthy, after the insurrection, there's the photo
of him and Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Kevin McCarthy went there, literally kissed Donald
Trump's ass at Mar-a-Lago, and then went to cover up for the insurrection for
the MAGA extremists who have now turned on him, that he's not extremist enough for them.
This is from Helen Kennedy on Twitter 14 minutes ago. She goes, the people hobbling McCarthy
are worse than he is and one might be tempted to feel sorry for him, but he will always deserve whatever he gets
because of this. And it's the photo with Kevin McCarthy and Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago days after
the insurrection. Let's keep this photo up as we reflect together right now on the Midas Touch Network. What a complete traitor, what a complete
coward, what a complete despicable person Kevin McCarthy is. And the reason we here at the Midas
Touch Network have 17,000 people concurrently watching this more than are watching the coverage on large media networks is because we all aren't
afraid collectively, everybody watching and listening this now. We look at this picture
and we say traitors. We look at this picture and we say cowards. We look at this picture
and we say fascism here. We don't look at this picture
and say, oh, these are two conservative people. Absolutely not. Because there is nothing at all
conservative. There is nothing at all conservative about supporting insurrection. There is nothing at all conservative about supporting election denialism,
about supporting global pandemics and spreading conspiracy theories, about supporting QAnon
cults. That's not conservative. We don't give them that title. We call them traitors. We call
them MAGA extremists. And if the media could actually hold them accountable the way we all hold them accountable
here, there wouldn't be a position where the House Republicans are even empowered to pick
a speaker in the first place because their whole party is filled with election deniers
and Trump cultists.
And nowhere is that more present
and prevalent. I mean, we see with Marjorie Taylor Greene, we showed you that clip. So
what does Marjorie Taylor Greene do while all of this is raging on the House floor?
She then runs to the Steve Bannon show, by the way, who has just been convicted of obstruction
of Congress. Remember when Steve Bannon said,
oh, I'm going to give them hell at trial. I'm going to give them hell. I'm going to speak the
truth. And he didn't even show up. I mean, he was there, but he invoked his Fifth Amendment
rights against self-incrimination and he got like summarily destroyed at trial. And so you have
literally someone convicted of a crime who is under
indictment as well in the state of New York for multiple felonies from stealing from people in the
build a wall scheme that he was pardoned for by Donald Trump. This is the person who's hosting
a podcast that you got Marjorie Taylor Greene, who's cheering on the insurrection. She's now like
the de facto proxy leader of what a Republican party would be under Kevin McCarthy. She runs
to the Bannon show to broadcast this message about Matt Gaetz, Scott Perry, and Chip Roy.
Play this clip. An official position. And I also found out that no one went in there and negotiated anything for me, but I haven't
asked for anything for myself.
You see, that's the difference, Steve.
I'm not in there demanding Marjorie, Marjorie, Marjorie.
I'm in there saying for the American people, for the American people, for the American
people.
And that pisses me off when we have other Republicans in there saying, trying to tell the base.
Let me remind you, Matt Gaetz, his first vote in Congress was for Paul Ryan as speaker.
And then he went on and cheerleaded Paul Ryan while I was at home, pissed off at Paul Ryan because he was failing President Trump and failing our MAGA agenda. You know, Chip Roy, who everybody's saying Chip Roy's conservative.
Chip Roy did not object on January 6th to Joe Biden's electoral college votes. No, he voted for Joe Biden's electoral college votes. And let me tell you something else. Chip Roy, you know
what else? He set out the vote for the January 6th committee. He did not vote against it. He set it
out because he was for it. You want to know something else? There's plenty of people with voting records.
Scott Perry, the chairman of our Freedom Caucus, before his general election, he would not vote against the gay marriage bill because he was scared of election results and he didn't do the right thing.
But when the bill came back around that he did not know what it was going to do, none of us
knew it was coming back after his election. He voted against it.
The nine, the general pair, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.
Trust us, we have a plan. I'm sorry, you can't trust everyone.
Then you have this just breaking where she talks about,
we have a plan. You have Congressman-elect Robert Garcia who tweeted, it's clear that McCarthy and
the House Republicans have no plan. He doesn't have the votes yet again, and the GOP caucus
is in chaos. Democrats, we're over here just minding our business and voting in unity.
I want to show you this photograph as well. I guess that because this was supposed to be,
for people like Kevin McCarthy, a celebratory day, they brought their kids to the House floor.
And so the mood has changed very quickly on the House floor with kids utterly annoyed and sleeping, kids of the
members of Congress. But I think as those kids are sleeping, you have other kids like Lauren Boebert
who are giving press conferences now, trashing Kevin McCarthy. And let's just pull up what
Boebert says where she goes, here we are being sworn at instead of sworn in. Play this clip of Boebert.
And so now here we are being sworn at instead of being sworn in.
And we could have had this solved months ago. I have been working every day to unify the Republican
Party for the American people. And yesterday we had a deal that was not a selfish
deal in any way for Kevin McCarthy to get him the gavel on the first ballot. And he eagerly
dismissed us. Eagerly, he eagerly dismissed up here. Let's pull up the video right now of the uh house floor so we can see uh what
is going on they're now on a third round steve scalese is speaking can we uh see what uh or hear
what he's saying can we try to get the volume salty and see if we could bring our last year
alone we lost over a hundred thousand young people to deaths from drugs like fentanyl because we have
an open southern border.
Everybody should be appalled by that stat.
The fact that more than 100 of our youngest, best and brightest kids are dead in America because of the fentanyl coming across of our open southern border.
These are drugs made in China coming across our southern border and brought into every
community in America.
And it should stop.
It has to stop.
But it won't stop until either the has to stop, but it won't stop
until either the president takes action, which he won't, or we pass legislation on the floor to fix
those problems. But that doesn't start until we elect Kevin McCarthy as our speaker. We know what
the challenges are. We've laid out solutions to these problems. It's sad to say these aren't
problems that are very hard to fix because we weren't in this situation just a few years ago. But if the administration doesn't want to fix
these problems, people call on us to do that. And it starts here in the people's house. Let's rise
to this challenge. Let's meet the challenges that the American people sent to all of us,
not just the Republicans, not just the Democrats, but all 434, soon to be 435 of us. We can meet those challenges, but let's start
by electing Kevin McCarthy as our next speaker. I yield back.
That's Steve Scalise you heard speaking.
So embarrassing.
So embarrassing.
He doesn't have the votes here.
Let's go back to it and we'll hear another speech.
Madam Clerk, I rise to nominate Hakeem Jeffries.
The gentleman has been recognized.
For unity in Congress and progress in our country,
Democrats are united behind Hakeem Jeffries.
I recommend Hakeem Jeffries as our speaker. Thank you, Madam President.
Could the contrast be any more clear than what you are watching right there? Let's stay on the House
floor for a little bit. Let's show everybody what's going on there. Here's some other speeches,
but you hear the Democrats chanting for Hakeem Jeffries. Let's keep watching.
The reading clerk is prepared to call the roll.
For what purpose does a gentleman from Texas seek recognition?
Seek to place a name in a nomination, Speaker.
The gentleman is recognized.

How many times have we been down here giving speeches and there's not a soul in the chamber?
Yet this is what it takes to get 435
people in the chamber and have an actual debate. The American people are watching,
and that's a good thing. What we're doing is exercising our rights to vote and have a debate
and have a discussion about the future of this country through the decision
of choosing a speaker. This is not personal. It's not. This is about the future of the country.
This is about the direction of the country. American people who are looking at this body
and wondering why we can pass $1.7 trillion bills that are unpaid for. They can just slide in $45 billion for Ukraine,
but not pay for it. $40 billion for emergency spending and not pay for it. 10% increase in
defense spending, 6% increase in non-defense spending and not pay for it. And not do a thing
except put language in a bill that prohibits our ability to use the money to secure the border.
That bill gets rammed through, and we know exactly how it gets rammed through,
because the defense world and the non-defense world come together and say, you know what,
we're going to cut a deal, and we'll all go to the mics, and we're all going to give speeches,
and the American people are the big losers. That's what happens. We know that's what happens.
The rules committee sits up there and passes a bill, sends it to the floor, and we have no debate on the floor of this body. We haven't been able to offer an amendment on the floor of this body
since May of 2016. The former leader and I have discussed this right here.
That's true. But the fact is, this place has to change. It has to change. And the change comes
by either adopting rules and procedures that will make us actually do our job, or it comes
from leadership. And people ask me, what do you want? I want the tools
or I want the leadership to stop the swamp from running over the average American every single day.
We can't keep doing this. I'm going to sit here until we figure out how to stop spending money we don't have.
I don't want any more empty promises. I don't want any more, oh, don't worry, trust us, we'll do it.
I want to know that we're going to be able to exercise our rights as a member of this body to
stand up for the American people and actually fix this country. And it's not going to happen
when we use our men and women in uniform and defense and wrap ourselves around that and then spend more money that we don't have, weakening that defense, weakening our country in the process.
But that's what we just did.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am asking for us to come together and figure out how to solve these problems.
And to do that, I'm going to do what I did my very first act as a member of Congress or
as a congressman elect and nominate Jim Jordan for speaker. There you have it. That's what I was
waiting for, folks. I'll let him speak a little bit more, but I want to hear about Jim Jordan.
And I respect that. And again, I have no personal animus towards Kevin. And I've worked for the last
two months to try to figure out how to get the rules to make this place better. And we've made progress. But we do not have the tools
or the leadership yet to stop the swamp for rolling over the American people. Jim has been
doing it. He has a track record of doing it. And for those reasons, I'm nominating Jim Jordan from
Ohio for Speaker of the House of Representatives. Well, there you have it. I wanted you all to hear that from Chip Roy. I apologize
for making you listen to him for that long. I was waiting to see if he was going to be supporting
Kevin McCarthy or not, because Chip Roy is a right wing extremist. He spreads a lot of
disinformation, supports a lot of very, very hateful policies. But in this case,
what was important to see is, will those 19 individuals who have voted against Kevin McCarthy
in the first round and the second round, we're pulling up right now the first round of voting,
McCarthy got 202 votes, Hakeem Jeffries, 211, Andy Biggs, 10 votes,
others, nine. When we saw the second round of voting, we had Jim Jordan receive 19 votes in
the second round. And so now what we should all be paying attention to here, and we'll keep the
screen on, is will Jim Jordan be getting 19 votes as well? What we're also hearing as well is,
and this is what we should all be paying attention to right now, that there could be more
potential defections here that could be coming. Ben Siegel is reporting more McCarthy defections
coming in round three. A spokesperson for Representative Donald's press tells him,
quote, he committed to Kevin for the first two ballots and now is opened to anyone that
at Rep Donald's press is Congressman Byron Donald, a Republican who said that he would
support McCarthy in those first two rounds,
but now would be open to potentially changing the vote as well. Betting odds now have Kevin
McCarthy under 50%, a 40% chance of becoming Speaker of the House. And I think we will learn more as we see this third vote and what is going to
take place here and now. And the question is, and this is what we should all be looking for,
which is, is Jim Jordan going to still get 19 votes or will there be more votes or less votes? I want to pull up this photo of Ted
Liu with his popcorn in front of his office. Ted Liu saying, about to go to the house floor,
popcorn in hand, ready to go. I want to show you right now, this was a, yeah, we'll go back to the floor right now. Why don't we just,
I'll press pause for a little bit. Keep watching. I'll join back in a few minutes,
but why don't we just go to the House floor, follow the votes, and I'll see you in a few minutes..

This has been my cellist from the Midas Touch Network.
You are now watching the third round, the third roll call vote. This is quite historic, what we've seen thus far this morning,
where the House had not failed to elect a speaker on the first roll call vote since 1923,
where it took nine different ballots. We are now at the third roll call after Kevin McCarthy failed to secure the speakership
after the first and second roll call. In both those roll calls, 19 Republican defections
existed. So what we are trying to follow right now is will there still be 19 defections to Jim Jordan here?
In the first round, there was, I think, nine to Andy Biggs and 10 to others.
In the second round, there was 19 to Jim Jordan.
What we are learning, this is from reporting by Jake Sherman,
that there's buzz on the House floor that McCarthy may lose or will lose at least one,
maybe two more votes on this round. That would be absolutely devastating for Kevin McCarthy's
ability to become the Speaker if he starts losing votes here. So let's all pay attention. Let's all focus on that number. Look at that Jim Jordan and others number. Let's see if that will make it to 19 or more. And if it makes it to more than 19, well, we are in for even more MAGA Republican chaos and disorder today. So let's keep a watch and I'll be right back. We can confirm that Kevin McCarthy will not secure the number he needs in the third round. So Kevin McCarthy, it is official, will fail to secure the
correct amount of the right amount of votes he needs in the third round. But there's a lot of
reporting now that we may see more defections to Jim Jordan. Let's see if Jim Jordan gets more than
19. That will perhaps be the end of Kevin McCarthy, as it will be clear that more
Republicans are moving away from McCarthy. So stay tuned. But I just wanted to confirm right now that
as the fifth Republican voted against him on the third ballot, that McCarthy is not going to be
able to secure it on this time around. So let's cut back to the House floor and the votes.

just switched to Jordan from McCarthy. That is big, big breaking news here that we can report
on the Midas Touch Network that more defections will be taking place in the third round.
We saw the reporting from Ben Siegel that it was believed that there would be more defections.
A spokesperson for Representative Byron Donald stated that he may switch.
He did switch right there. That is devastating news for Kevin McCarthy. Let's go back to the vote and let's see if there's going to be more defections in this round. But that spells big, big trouble for Kevin McCarthy. night of this and we'll try to give you the abbreviated version. Or Republicans are going
to have to pick someone new to become the Speaker of the House. But utter, utter chaos right now
within the MAGA Republican Party. Let's go back to the House floor votes.

McCarthy. right now. Sorry for those brief technical difficulties, but one of the things I want
to definitely call out as we see the remaining count of these votes is there was the additional
defection taking place in this round. So whereas we saw 19 defections in round one of the roll call,
in round two of the roll call, Now in round three, it looks like we
will have at least 20 defections to report. Do we have, Salty, our producer, the clip of
Representative Donalds, who was on CNN, who talked about the potential defection. If we can, this was before the
defection was made official. We saw Matt Gaetz and other MAGA extremists on the floor cheering
this on, but let's play that clip. Are you going to stick with Kevin McCarthy on the third ballot,
fourth ballot, fifth ballot, whatever it takes? Look, I'm actually thinking about all that right
now. The one thing that's clear is he doesn't have the votes. And so at some point as a conference, we're going to have to figure out who
does. And so I think every member is having that thought process right now. Obviously, we have some
who are definite no's. We have some who say they're going to be yeses all the way into 100
ballots or 10 ballots or whatever they're saying. But there's a lot of members who are thinking
about this right now, because at the end of the day, we do have a responsibility to get the House organized
in order to move forward with the 118th Congress.
So are you willing to vote for Congressman Jim Jordan, who got 19 votes last time?
I said Jim will be a great speaker. I'm not saying anything against him.
I'm open to whoever can now close this deal, because that's where we are. You got to close
the deal. At the end of the day, somebody's got to be able to get the votes and when you get the votes we can go ahead and organize
Congress and so I think that's what I'm looking for I think there's a lot of members in the
chamber right now who are looking for the same thing and we have uh Olivia Beavers who was
reporting right before this she said stay tuned hearing from GOP sources that they believe the no votes against McCarthy
will grow by a few members on the third ballot.
We will see if they get there.
So we are now seeing that at least by one member, the defections have increased.
As the day progresses, it's certainly not getting any better for Kevin McCarthy.
Here's the photo of Kevin McCarthy just moments ago on the floor when it was clear to him he was going to lose the most recent roll call vote.
All right, to be candid, I don't know if this photo was taken at that specific time, but it's still a great photo that I want to claim.
It may have been for the second role, Kovac, but nonetheless, that is the emotion.
That is what Kevin McCarthy is feeling like today.
And, you know, it goes back to, I think, what Lindsey Graham said.
And we could pull up the quote when Lindsey Graham said, if we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed and we will deserve it. And let's pull up the
photo of Kevin McCarthy and Donald Trump, the two traitors at Mar-a-Lago and Kevin McCarthy. Now,
after officially losing the third roll call vote, he sold his soul to the Trump cult. He stood for nothing and fell for everything. And we now watch as he
loses the third roll call vote and him and his right-hand trader, Elise Stefanik, also another
person who sold her soul to the Trump cult, but ultimately the Trump cult rewarded them by utterly humiliating them today.
Do we have salty the, uh, the tweet by Congressman elect Maxwell Frost, uh, where he, uh, talks
about, he goes, I feel like I'm living in a world star video. The way McCarthy is getting beat down right now by his own party on the House floor.
I thought it was a funny statement made by Congressman-elect Frost.
It feels like he's in a World Star video.
But anyway, let's go back to the floor for a moment.
Let's see if there will be any more defections
or if the vote will change in any material way from round two.

And Kevin McCarthy allowed George Santos and the Republicans just let George Santos out there Santos being grilled by the press for basic questions and him refusing to answer, not knowing where his office was.
So we're already seeing right now that there are the same 19 votes, 19 defections from Kevin McCarthy as he loses the third round, the third roll call vote.
We think that number will be at least 20, adding to the defections from round one and two
in round three. But let's keep watching the votes. So we'll be right back and make sure you hit the

Instacart. Groceries that over-deliver. So we're just finishing up the third roll call vote that Kevin McCarthy will lose again.
He will not be the Speaker of the House based on this vote. And there has been another defection this time where Jim Jordan in the previous round had received 19 votes.
So there were 19 defections.
Now Jim Jordan actually gained a vote.
We are now at 20 defections.
So things are getting worse for Kevin McCarthy by each successive roll call vote,
utterly humiliating and embarrassing for Kevin McCarthy and this time representative Byron
Donalds, a representative from Florida who had previously voted with McCarthy in the first two rounds, voted for Jim Jordan in this
round, reflecting more defections. And so as we head into the fourth round, because Kevin McCarthy
will continue to embrace this humiliation, we will see if there is more defections to come. I'll show you more of what's going on on the
House floor right now, and then come back in the next 30 seconds and let's just discuss and frame
what's taking place. But we see there Democrats unified, supporting Hakeem Jeffries, and then
the camera just shifted right now to Elise Stefanik and Steve Scalise. Certainly a
different mood taking place there, especially with Elise Stefanik recognizing that they don't
have the votes at all. So really a tale of two different moods taking place. But let's just take
a look at what's going on in the House floor. And then let's talk about what we've seen so far and what's transpired. Let mycellus from the midas Network. We are watching a historic day,
a historic failure by MAGA Republicans, a historic fail by Kevin McCarthy. Not since 1923, have we seen someone fail to secure the speakership in the first round?
In 1923, it took nine rounds to reelect Frederick Gallet, a Massachusetts Republican at the time.
But here we're seeing with each successive roll call vote, Kevin McCarthy is losing more support. Jim Jordan is gaining more
support. And it is apparent to anybody watching this that Kevin McCarthy just simply does not
have the votes. And you peel back for a second. Remember, Kevin McCarthy's already given this concession that it would just take five Republicans to do
a no confidence vote and oust him. That is built into the new rules by the Republican
party that they've submitted. But even though he's conceded to that, still you have 19 and now 20 defections. So even if Kevin McCarthy were to
somehow get the speakership, and it looks increasingly less and less and less likely
that that is the case, he has no power at all because we know that there's at least 20 people who have no confidence in him at all right now. No confidence in him at
all right now. Let's just go through some of the statements that we've seen take place.
I want to read this one from Eli Mistal because there's a lot of people saying,
oh, well, what are the Democrats going to do? Are Democrats just going to get tired and leave?
And Eli puts it great. He goes, people saying that Dems are going to get tired and leave to make McCarthy speaker really don't know about the recuperative powers of watching a guy who
threw his hat in with people who came to your office to kill you, suffer repeated humiliations.
Let's pull up this photo, a photo that will live in traitorous infamy as well with Kevin McCarthy
and Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago where Kevin McCarthy flew to Mar-a-Lago after the insurrection and basically
kissed the ring and said, despite the insurrection, I am going to support you because Kevin McCarthy
made a deal with the traitorous devil, believing that he was going to become speaker of the house.
If he just aided and abetted MAGA extremist, he didn't care, Kevin McCarthy. I mean, even before
the vote today, Kevin McCarthy, like a petulant third grader, it was reported in the basement,
he was speaking to all of the Republicans before the vote and he said, I earned it,
damn it, I earned it. And Lauren Boebert responded, bullshit. And so you have Kevin McCarthy, who literally stood
for nothing, sold his soul to MAGA fascist extremist, is now reaping what he sowed.
Let's pull up this statement that was just released by Jen Psaki, former press secretary
in the Biden administration. She said, just a reminder that just two months ago,
which was still before the November election, the mass predictions were a big red wave.
McCarthy sailing into the speakership, Democrats having lengthy retreats about how they lost
a historic number of seats, and that has not taken place. In the Midas Touch Network,
we said what was going to happen. We had on the right experts, people like Tom Bonior
and Simon Rosenberg, who were going through the early voting data and said,
we don't see the red wave in the early voting data here. Nonetheless, the large media networks pushed the narratives
that they wanted to push, including that today would be the coronation of Kevin McCarthy,
despite all of the evidence staring everybody in the face to the contrary. This is from Anna Navarro,
a statement that she posted. She goes, with every new round of voting, Speaker Pelosi looks bigger and
Kevin McCarthy looks smaller.
She had a vocal and active left flank who were not shy about being thorns on her side.
She knew how to maintain order without it devolving into utter chaos.
This is so entertaining. One of the other ways I know it's so entertaining is we
have now 22 or 23,000 people who are watching this stream live, watching history unfold here.
More people watching us here at the Midas Touch Network than the large media networks. And let me tell you why there is that disparity
right now. Pull up that photo, Salty, of Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy. The large media networks
will not say what I'm about to say right now. You are looking at traitors. You are looking at
treasonous trader criminals. You are looking at some of the worst, most despicable
people in the history of the United States of America. We call a spade a spade here at the
Midas Touch Network. The American people recognize that. And that is why you are seeing what is
unfolding today. Because whereas right wing, you-wing MAGA extremists, they go on
Fox and their other echo chambers, they get tossed a softball question by Hannity or Tucker Carlson,
and they rail about, oh, the green M&Ms. Oh, pronouns are making me upset today. Let's go after librarians and teachers. Dr. Seuss this,
Dr. Seuss that. Oh, Disney is too woke today. Okay. The American people are focused on issues
like healthcare and education and jobs and a woman's right to make decisions over her
reproductive health to stop the government from saying who you can marry. Democrats are
focused on helping our veterans. And do I agree with Democrats on every issue? Do I agree with
President Biden? No. And that would be absolutely weird and strange if I did. But ultimately,
I know we have adults in the room who are trying to address real problems versus this performative chaos that MAGA extremists want.
And you're seeing that performative chaos, the real world effects of it,
because what you're seeing today, and I take a great deal of joy in Kevin McCarthy's humiliation today,
but let's reflect on it's these scumbags, these right-wing MAGA extremists,
though, who fist bump and pull this shit when we're talking about our troops, when we're talking
about giving our troops and our veterans the healthcare that they deserve from exposure to
toxic burn pits. We've got MAGA Republicans playing it like it's a game and trying to block that. Fortunately,
we have adults in the room with Democrats in charge or when Democrats were in charge of both
houses. But now we're seeing that MAGA Republicans simply can't govern. Their whole goal is to
destroy, destroy, destroy. Let's pull up this statement by Joe Walsh, who used to be a Republican and said,
look, I'm not a MAGA Republican anymore. Joe Walsh, a friend of the Midas Touch Network writes,
the problem for Kevin McCarthy is that no Republicans in the house trust him. None of them
because Kevin McCarthy has never had a core. He's always just been a political operator.
His other big problem is that today's Republican Party is now fully radicalized. That covers it.
I should mention too, so I am doing a show that comes out in Hulu later this month. It's called Killing County. I executive produced
it with Colin Kaepernick, and it actually focuses on Kevin McCarthy's district. It focuses on
Bakersfield and Kern County generally. And so you should all check that out when it comes out on
Hulu. Back before I launched the Midas Touch Network. I was a civil rights litigator,
and I litigated numerous cases out in Bakersfield where I represented families who lost loved ones
in police shootings. And I represented the Ramirez family where it turned out while it
was being reported that their son was a suspect. The son was actually a confidential
informant in Bakersfield, in Kevin McCarthy's district. And what unfurls in the story is that
the Bakersfield Police Department at that time were using a number of officers,
or a number of officers were using confidential informants off
the books to actually deal drugs into the community. And so it's a true crime thriller,
but it is based on Kevin McCarthy's district, which by the way, has the highest homicide rate
of basically anywhere in California. It has the highest police shooting deaths per capita as well
anywhere in California and some of the highest homicide shooting deaths per capita as well anywhere in California
and some of the highest homicide rates anywhere in the United States of America. So for all the
people like Kevin McCarthy who talk about law and order, those counties, those communities actually
have the most violence, the most homicides, the most crime. And we as pro-democracy members need
to call it out and stop letting them have
those fake and phony narratives that they try to push. Looks like the betting odds have just
changed. This is breaking news as well. Steve Scalise just passed Kevin McCarthy in the betting
market up to 42% to Kevin McCarthy's 40%. When we last brought this to you,
that was different. Kevin McCarthy, I think, was still at 47% before the third round.
Kevin McCarthy has now fallen to 42%. And the shame and humiliation that we're seeing
is just going to repeat over and over again as we see more
defections taking place. I want to show you this clip, this vital clip from the third round,
the third roll call where Kevin McCarthy lost. This is where Representative Byron
Donalds of Florida, Republican, was the first Republican to flip his House speaker vote
from Kevin McCarthy to Jim Jordan, adding to Jim Jordan's total in the second round from 19 to 20,
representing 20 defections away from Kevin McCarthy, which you're seeing on the screen now.
Let's play this moment where Representative Byron Donald votes for Jim
Jordan in the third round, and Matt Gaetz and others cheer him on. Let's play the clip.
Donald.
Jordan.
Duarte. McCarthy.
Duncan. McCarthy. Dunn of Florida. This is a statement just released now by Congressman Byron Donalds on his Twitter account after changing his vote from McCarthy to Jordan.
He says the following. He says, the reality is that Representative Kevin McCarthy doesn't have the votes.
I committed my support to him publicly and for two votes on the House floor.
218 is the number, and currently no one is there. Our conference needs to recess and huddle
and find someone or work out the next steps. But these continuous votes aren't working for anyone.
When the dust settles, we will have a Republican speaker. Now is the time for our conference to
debate and come to a consensus. This will take time. Democracy is messy at times, but we will be ready to govern on behalf of the American people.
Debate is healthy. I laugh at the end as he goes, we will be ready to govern on behalf of the
American people. It certainly doesn't look that way. And don't you think that the consensus
building and the debate and discussion, I don't know, maybe should have
happened before there was an utter and total humiliation of what took place right now.
But see, here's the thing. Kevin McCarthy, since he has no spine, since he's just, his whole career
is that of being utterly humiliated, he may just keep going round after round after round
and seeing more and more defections and more and more humiliation. And what we'll also see,
though, is here's a post from three days ago. It says, three days away at GOP leader Kevin
McCarthy, the very first day, the very first thing we're going to do
is repeal the 87,000 IRS agents. They acted like it was a foregone conclusion that he was going to
become the speaker. And by the way, the large media networks reported that way, even though
you had people like Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert saying that they were not going to vote for him. You had a letter from
the Paul Gosars and the Andy Biggs of the world saying that he didn't have the votes. But I guess
the large media networks wanted to push a narrative that Kevin McCarthy was a foregone conclusion.
And of course, we've seen these media narratives to continue to be false. And the media narrative I see now is,
well, aren't the Democrats just going to let Kevin McCarthy just do it? Aren't they just
getting tired? No. No. As Eli Mustemist now said, you don't understand. Kevin McCarthy and these
Republicans actually tried to kill the Democrats. Not like kill, not making like a metaphor, right? Actually tried to kill.
And large media networks don't know how to use the words to describe that that's what took place,
that what we're actually talking about was an attempted homicide on January 6th,
that the people pushing the insurrection, the Republicans and Trump, their goal was to actually
kill people. Unfortunately, that did not take place. But that is what we are dealing with here.
And what we're dealing with needs to be called out. It needs to be discussed precisely what it
is. I want to pull up this post, though, by Staff Sergeant Gunnell. And he was at the insurrection. He was working
that day. He was harmed significantly. And he talks about in this, it's a photo that he posts.
By the way, he spoke with the January 6th committee. He's been very vocal on television as well, that it's an insurrection and what took
place and calling out these Republican individuals who aided and abetted, these MAGA Republican
members of Congress who aided and abetted in Trump. And he goes, this is what he says about
Kevin McCarthy a few moments ago. He goes, law and order, he says, This is what McCarthy sent us, the police officer.
Every time we asked for accountability, your support was so amazing, we donated it to the
trash bin.
We can buy our own food.
And Kevin McCarthy had the audacity to send the Capitol Police officers Chick-fil-A instead
of actually sympathize with the Capitol Police officers. He sent them Chick-fil-A instead of actually sympathize with the Capitol police officers.
He sent him Chick-fil-A. How much more disgusting can you be than that? Just pull up that Chick-fil-A.
Let's just do a series of photos right now, just highlighting who the Republican. Okay,
Chick-fil-A. Now let's pull up the photo of Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy in Mar-a-Lago. Yeah, that's Chick-fil-A
boy right there. That's what they give him Chick-fil-A while you try to kill law enforcement,
while you try to kill police officers. Yeah, that's Kevin McCarthy, what he looks like today.
Let's pull up the Lindsey Graham quote about Donald Trump generally and what Lindsey Graham
said would happen to the Republican Party. If we
nominate Trump, we will get destroyed and we will deserve it. Well, do we have the Lindsey Graham
post, Salty, that Lindsey Graham posted today as well, what he tweeted out, where Lindsey Graham
basically said, like, this has to end. We need everybody to support. We need everybody just to
support Kevin McCarthy. It can't go on like this. That's what Lindsey Graham was saying and whining
about today. But let's pull up that post right now by Lindsey Graham that I just referenced,
if we haven't. This is Ron Filipkowski, who does a great job on Twitter highlighting all of these right-wing
MAGA fascist tactics. And Lindsey Graham goes, how does this end when Kevin McCarthy secures 213
votes, one more than Akeem Jeffries? To those Republicans who suggest it is better to have
Akeem Jeffries as speaker, you must understand that that means backing policies like D.C. statehood and Puerto Rican
statehood. Really, that's the first two things that you mentioned. I mean, one, just how despicable
is that? And when you have a spineless MAGA extremist party that can't govern, we are seeing the results play out in real time. You know, when it began
too earlier this morning with Kevin McCarthy calling out Matt Gaetz and name dropping him
and saying that basically Matt Gaetz said that we don't care if we elect Hakeem Jeffrey. So
when you start off with that and that's what starts setting your tone, you believe that
someone like Matt Gaetz is going to support you today? Here, if we can, let's play this clip from earlier today.
For a long time, I've been leader for four years. I came into this position and we had
less than 200 members. We are now sitting in the majority. We put forth to the American public a
commitment to America. There's times we're going to have to argue with our own members if they're
looking at for only positions for themselves, not for the country.
For the last two months, we worked together as a whole conference
to develop rules that empower all members.
But we're not empowering certain members over others.
Last night I was presented the only way to have 218 votes
if I provided certain members with certain positions, certain gavels to take
over the church committee to have certain budgets. And they even came to the position where one Matt
Gates said, I don't care if we go to plurality and we elect Hakeem Jeffries and it hurts the new
frontline members not to get reelected. Well, that's not about America. And I will always
fight to put the American people first, not a few individuals that want something for themselves.
So we may have a battle on the floor, but the battle is for the conference and the country.
And that's fine with me.
Such an utter and total phony.
By the way, make sure you've subscribed to the Midas Touch Network so that you can get all these live updates here.
Can we pull up George Santos, though, walking through the halls of Capitol Hill,
if we can? If we've got this clip of George Santos, let's play him running away today.
Because as Kevin McCarthy is getting utterly humiliated on the House floor, you have George
Santos, who is pretty much the archetype of who the MAGA Republican is right now,
getting humiliated himself. Let's play that clip.
Your constituents, do you feel like you're qualified to serve in this Congress right now?
How do you hope your constituents can trust you, even though that you've misrepresented
your biography to govern?
Do you hope to carry out your full term?
What can you say to reassure your constituents that you'll do what you said you were going to do on the campaign show. The other concerns that have come up about statements you've made in the last few months.
Aw, rough first day at school, George Santos, huh?
Rough first day at school for you.
Let's just play also the clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene basically calling Matt Gaetz and others
in the Republican Party who aren't supporting Kevin
McCarthy, basically traitors and destructionists. She goes, if my friends in the Freedom Caucus and
others care, they're proving to the country they just don't care about the right thing for America.
We got that play that clip. If my friends in the Freedom Caucus, Matt Gaetz and others
will not take the win when they have it, they're proving to the country that they don't care about doing the right thing for America.
They're proving to the country that they're just destructionists.
And that's not what we need to do as a party.
That's why Republicans fail.
And I'm really tired of it.
So here we got Lauren Boebert saying that I just want to be sworn in and not sworn at by Marjorie Taylor Greene and others.
Let's play this clip.
And so now here we are being sworn at instead of being sworn in.
And we could have had this solved months ago.
I have been working every day to unify the Republican Party for the American people.
And yesterday, we had a deal that was not a selfish deal in any way for Kevin McCarthy
to get him the gavel on the first ballot. And he eagerly dismissed us.
Eagerly. Remember when Kevin McCarthy eagerly in 2020 predicted that
Nancy Pelosi didn't have the votes to become the Speaker of the House and Maria Bartolome?
Let's play that clip eagerly, eagerly. Eagerly. We know in January because to become speaker,
you have to have 218 votes on the floor. When she went up for that vote two years ago,
there were 15 Democrats who voted against her. 10 of those Democrats will be coming to Congress.
Those 10 vote against her again. She will not be Speaker of the House because she won't have
218 because of the gains of the Republicans. Can we also put up this video of Representative
Pete Aguilar, Democrat, talking about the unity of the Democratic Party?
Today, Madam Clerk, House Democrats are united.
And AOC is just trolling everybody.
Can you play this clip from earlier where AOC was talking to Matt Gaetz?
I want to show you the next clip where Kevin McCarthy and Elise Stefanik looked like miserable.
But let's play the clip where AOC is just egging it on even more. Yo, it's so good.
That's so good.
Do we have the clip with her and gosar too because she was just going around just
like egging on all the mag extremists to keep objecting to uh to kevin mccarthy play this clip
with her and gosar y so
so We got to play this clip of Elise Stefanik, though.
So while that was going on, this is Elise Stefanik, by the way, who sold her soul to MAGA extremist as well.
She tried to present herself as a moderate, as a pragmatist who ended up just like Kevin McCarthy doing whatever she thought it would take to get into power.
And this is where she sees her fate right now, basically, with MAGA extremists knowing how phony her and Kevin McCarthy are.
Let's play that clip. So So So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So
So So Meanwhile, and let's see if we have this clip of this is what's going on on Fox right now.
I'll just set it up that it is on the five and it is Janine Pirro and others saying how the ordinary American is just sitting home saying, what the heck is wrong with these people? We
elected him. We worked hard. We gave him money. We know we have the majority in the House here.
Just let's play this clip of what's going on on Fox right now. And McCarthy's still confident
he's going to be speaker eventually. Keep this in mind until Republicans can agree on a speaker.
The House is basically frozen, meaning they can't even swear
in new members or investigate Biden like they promised. Judge Jeanine. Yes. Not a good look
for Republicans today. No. The ordinary American is sitting home and saying, what the heck is wrong
with these people? We elected them. We worked hard. We gave them money. We now have the majority
in the House and they can't get along with each other.
They don't they don't like have enough problems with the Democrats that they at least can't align against the Democrats.
Here's. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Oh, let's play the clip of Kevin McCarthy moving into his office today. Sorry, Kevin, looks like you're going to have to,
looks like you're going to have to move. So now are we in the fourth speaker vote?
Let's go to the House floor and see what's going on in the House floor.
The ayes have it.
The motion is adopted.
The House stands adjourned until noon tomorrow.
After an historic three rounds of voting for speaker on the opening day go back to me now salty
um do want to give c-span a bunch of credit though for getting that camera footage of what was going
on and what was uh transpiring there um but they have adjourned they going back to what Congress member Douglas had said, if we have his tweet thread, when he said that we need to go back and be able to deliberate and to have additional conversations here after he defected, making him the 20th member to defect to Jim Jordan. In any event, he said, look, we need to go back. We don't
have the votes right now. I told Kevin McCarthy that I was with him for rounds one and round two,
but I'm not with him anymore. He then voted for Jim Jordan in round three right there.
And clearly Kevin McCarthy doesn't have the votes.
And so what we're seeing right now, what you just observed was the House has now adjourned.
They will be coming back tomorrow to try to see if they can find the votes or to try to reach a deal or perhaps nominate someone else.
Let's go back one more
time though, just to Kevin McCarthy moving in right there, because I think he's going to have
to pack his stuff and move out. Let's just play that clip. And by the way, I have the post up and it's Congressman Donald's rather I said, Douglas,
I meant Donald's who said the reality is representative Kevin McCarthy doesn't have
the votes. I committed my support to him publicly and for two votes on the house floor,
two 18 is the number. and currently no one is there.
Our conference needs to recess and huddle and find someone or work out the next steps,
but these continuous votes aren't working for anyone. When the dust settles, we will have a
Republican speaker. Now is the time for our conference to debate and to come to a consensus. This will take time. Democracy is
messy at times, but we will be ready to govern on behalf of the American people. What do we have
going on right now on the House floor? Let's pull it up. Thank you, Madam Clerk.
I think we have three objectives this Congress, three fundamental things we have to get done in the 118th Congress.
First, pass the bills that fix the problems.
In two years' time, we have a border that is no longer a border.
We have a military that can't meet its recruitment goals.
We have bad energy policy, bad education policy, record spending,
record inflation, record debt, and a government that has been weaponized against we the people.
And salty.
We could take it out of this.
Jim Jordan annoys me.
So the bottom line is that they are recessing.
I don't need to play his disinformation for me to report that at the end of the day, this will be going into
recess. We'll see if Kevin McCarthy will ultimately get the speakership. But what a humiliating day,
a historic day in our country. This has not happened since 1923. Since 1923, it was always
the first roll call vote where a speaker would secure the speakership.
And that, of course, did not occur in the first round.
There were 19 defections.
If we can pull up what took place in the first round for everybody watching.
So after the first round, there were 10 people who 10 Republicans who defected to Andy Biggs, nine defected to others, zero present,
and Hakeem Jeffries prevailed in the first round. As we went to the second round of voting,
we had 19 individuals go for Jim Jordan. And then in the third round, it went from 19 defections to Jim Jordan to 20
defections to Jim Jordan. And this was even like right after Jim Jordan spoke, you would then have
the MAGA Republicans then say, well, we're voting for Jim Jordan. Do we have the clip of Matt Gates
saying that the MAGA Republicans would vote for Jim Jordan after Jim Jordan said,
don't vote for me.
Let's play that clip if we got it.
To nominate the most talented, hardest working member
of the Republican conference who just gave a speech
with more vision than we have ever heard
from the alternative, I'm nominating Jim Jordan.
Jim Jordan is humble, perhaps today, humble to a fault.
Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who wants it so bad.
Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who has sold shares of himself for more than a decade to get it.
Let's reflect on that line. Sold shares of himself
for more than a decade. Fighting words, utter chaos today. A historic day that I am so proud
that we were able to bring you live here on the Midas Touch Network with more people watching here on the
Midas Touch Network than watched on any of the large media networks. Because let me tell you
something that everybody watching this knows in 2023, which is why it's so critical you subscribe
to this channel. We are tired of large media networks both sidesing the issues. It's time we call
traitors traitors. It's time we call fascists fascists. It's time we call criminals criminals
and we don't mince our words. Our democracy is too precious to be gaslit, not just by MAGA extremists, but by large media networks who sold out our country, who tried to destroy our country each and every day, traitors, cowards, and we're calling them out here
on the Midas Touch Network.
Thank you everybody for watching this today.
