Starting point is 00:00:00 This podcast is supported by Talkspace. When my husband came home from his military deployment, readjusting was hard for all of us. Thankfully, I found Talkspace. Talkspace provides professional support from licensed therapists and psychiatric providers online. Military members, veterans, and their dependents ages 13 and older can get fast access to providers,
Starting point is 00:00:22 all from the privacy of their computers or smartphones. I just answered a few questions online and Talkspace matched me with a therapist. We meet when it's convenient for me, and I can message her anytime. It was so easy to set up, and they accept TRICARE. Therapy was going so well, my husband and I started seeing a couples therapist through Talkspace, too. Talkspace works with most major insurers, including TRICARE. Match with a licensed therapist today at Talkspace.com slash military.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Go to Talkspace.com slash military to get started today. That's Talkspace.com slash military. are sticking the dagger into Donald Trump and twisting it. Finally, they are demanding impeachment. They want the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristyneome and Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffrey said that he is now going to be initiating a formal process to initiate Christine Home. And he thinks that he can build the momentum to get this done.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Now, this formal call for impeachment by the Democratic. leader, Hakeem Jeffreys, comes at a time where new polling from Reuters Ipsos has Trump's overall approval rating falling to 38% the lowest of his term. Trump's immigration approval falls to a record low of 39%. And most of this country feels that ICE has gone too far. You think? Well, Donald Trump just arrived in Iowa where he is holding. a rally and he says that I've got the best poll numbers. This as the growing calls mount for the impeachment of Christianome, but frankly it should be impeachment
Starting point is 00:02:11 of Donald, of Hegsef, of everybody in that regime, of Pam Bondi, you name it, they all need to go. Donald Trump says his polling is great, play this clip. They're not getting that anymore. With you, strong as far as they're very strong. By the way, our base is with us. I think they're the best poll numbers, the real poll numbers, I think we have the best poll numbers we've ever had.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Think of it, if I would run again, if I run again, would you, would anybody be happy? So we have the best poll numbers we've ever had. Thank you all very much. Thank you, Mr. President. Next, Donald Trump is asked about whether he agrees that Alex Pretti, who was gunned down and murdered by the Border Patrol, is a domestic terrorist. Donald Trump said he shouldn't have been carrying a gun. No guns allowed.
Starting point is 00:03:13 No Second Amendment, everybody. Play this clip. One number that's bad, can you tell? Is there one number that's bad? There's not one. Do you agree with the assessment from some of your own officials that Alex Pretti is a domestic terrorist or an assassin? Well, I haven't heard that, but certainly shouldn't have been carrying a gun.
Starting point is 00:03:29 But all of, hey, look, bottom line, everybody in this room, we view that as a very unfortunate incident. Okay? Everyone, unless you're a stupid person. very, very unfortunate isn't it? I don't like that he had a gun. I don't like that he had two fully loaded magazines. That's a lot of bad stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:46 And despite that, I say, that's a very unfortunate. Then Donald Trump attacks a reporter for asking the same question and says, she's fake news. Play this clip. One number that's bad, can you tell? Is there one number that's bad? There's not one.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Do you agree with the assessment from some of your own officials that Alex Freddie is a domestic terrorist or an assassin? Well, I haven't heard that, but certainly shouldn't have been carrying a gun. But all of, hey, look, bottom line, everybody in this room, we view that as a very unfortunate incident. Okay, everyone, unless you're a stupid person, very, very unfortunate incident. I don't like that he had a gun.
Starting point is 00:04:25 I don't like that he had two fully loaded magazines. That's a lot of bad stuff. And despite that, I say, that's a very unfortunate. And then Donald Trump is asked about the criticism of him from, from Trump. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who said that Donald Trump needs to change his approach on immigration. Here, play this clip. Thank you very, thank you. No, I didn't hear that, did you?
Starting point is 00:04:57 Yeah, yeah, absolutely. A statement was just put out by Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries saying that these paramilitary tactics that are being used to terrorize Americans must cease and desist the violence unleashed on the American people by the department. of Homeland Security must end forthwith. She either, Christenom either needs to be fired immediately, or we will commence impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives. We can do this the easy way or the hard way.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Let's bring in Democratic leader Akeem Jeffries right now. Leader Jeffries, it is great to see you. People are calling for this. You've heard the American people. Frankly, we want them all impeached at this point, and we want all these people who have been involved in terrorizing the American people prosecuted because what we're seeing on the streets is absolutely disgusting and so un-American and so it's gross. Talk to us about this call for the impeachment of Kristyneau.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Great to be with you. The American people are appropriately dismayed, disturbed, and disgusted by what they're seeing by their own government, taxpayer dollars being used to kill American citizens, brutalized communities, and attack violently, law-abiding, immigrant families. It all has to end. And there's a variety of things that can be done. But Donald Trump can start by firing Christy Knoem immediately. We know Christy Knoem is a corrupt, despicable, pathological liar. She never should have been confirmed by Republicans in the Senate to begin with. And she's responsible in part for unleashing this kind of carnage that we're seeing in American communities. Federal taxpayer dollars should actually be used,
Starting point is 00:06:42 to make life better for the American people, to make life more affordable, to protect the health, the safety, and the well-being of everyday Americans, not kill them. So our position is pretty clear. Christy Noem needs to be fired immediately, or House Democrats, upon our return to Congress, next week, will begin the initiation of impeachment proceedings against her. I want to talk more about what those impeachment proceedings could look like, But as you mentioned, houses in recess right now, Maga Mike said, everybody, it's not like we're about to deal with the government shutdown.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Time to go home again. It seems that whenever we're confronting a MAGA Republican cause government shutdown, Maga Mike just sends people on vacation. By the way, Maga Mike didn't even address the murder of Alex Pretty. He went like radio silent for 48 hours. But it's a big deal that Maga Mike sent everybody home and on vacation. recess yet again because if there's any alteration now in the Senate appropriations bill to the minibus package that was unfortunately passed in the House that Maga Mike pushed through
Starting point is 00:07:53 and Democrats in the Senate are saying we ain't given any funding right now to ICE and border patrol. If alterations are made, that bill has to go back to the House now for any amendments. But guess what? The House isn't in session. So it's like Maga Mike wants a government shutdown, which again is going to happen on Friday. Here we're going to be. we are again, a Maga Mike Trump government shutdown right out right here, right around the horizon. And playbook that he rolled out during the 43-day government shutdown when Donald Trump and Republicans shut the government down because they didn't want to provide affordable health care to the American people. Now they're ready to shut the government down so ICE can continue its
Starting point is 00:08:31 killing spree in Minnesota and throughout the rest of the country. It's illegal and it's immoral. This is not complicated, right? And the American people are appropriately the demanding change to rein in this lawless organization. Our basic demand is simple. ICE and the other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security should conduct themselves like every other law enforcement agency in the country. And we know what that looks like. There should be no mass agents brutalizing American people.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Who else does that in terms of law enforcement agencies across the country? Of course, there should be warrant requirements. before you can storm homes or break windows and rip people out of their cars who are either going to work, coming from work, dropping off their children. We know that these paramilitary tactics have to end. Who signed up for ICE conducting itself like a secret police force for a wannabe king? I mean, these folks have gone too far. And I think the killing of Alex Prattie coming, on the heels of the killing of Renee Nicole Good, and then the callousness of Christy Noem's response, where she just lied to the American people,
Starting point is 00:09:51 claim that they were domestic terrorists. No, they're American patriots. And under her watch, they were killed in cold blood. That can't happen anymore, and people need to be held accountable. Let's talk about what an impeachment of Christy Noem can look like, because, you know, I think probably privately, you could tell me if I'm wrong here, lots of these Republicans don't want her there. They don't want a lot of things that are happening there,
Starting point is 00:10:21 but they're too cowardly to speak up and do anything about it, whether it's come to Donald Trump's unlawful tariffs against the world or Trump's saying he's going to invade Greenland. It doesn't seem that there's, or Trump's cover up of a child sex trafficking ring with the Epstein files, which they're still covering up. It seems that Republicans will, it doesn't make a difference. They don't stand for anything. They certainly don't stand for the Second Amendment.
Starting point is 00:10:45 That became very clear after Alex Preti was murdered. And they said, well, he had a concealed carry lawful permit. You get killed if you show up in public spaces with concealed carry and Donald Trump reiterated that today. My point, though, is how can you impeach her when these Republicans are, you know, want an invite to freaking golden ballrooms and golden McDonald arches or, whatever the hell Donald Trump's talking about. See, the House, unfortunately, as you've repeatedly and powerfully pointed out, Ben, under Republican leadership has been conducting itself not as a separate and co-equal branch of government, but as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trump cartel.
Starting point is 00:11:26 That's what we've seen from these Republicans. Now, on several occasions, most recently in compelling 17 Republicans to join with every single Democrat in the House. we could pass a straightforward extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits, and now the Senate needs to do its job on the Republican side. Of course, with great leadership from Roe and Congressman Massey and Democrats unified behind forcing legislation to the floor and an up or down vote and then compelling Republicans to join us because of the public pressure with respect to the release of the Epstein files, we're going to have to mount the case.
Starting point is 00:12:09 put enough pressure, which is coming from the public, on just a handful of Republicans to be able to get this done. So part of what it will look like is to make sure that the committees of jurisdiction are holding public hearings, detailing for the American people, why we need to see accountability, why things have gone so wrong at the Department of Homeland Security, why the mission of ICE is not what we are seeing. Donald Trump promised to go after violent felons. He ain't going after violent felons. They're going after American citizens and law-abody immigrant families. So we're going to have to detail that in compelling ways,
Starting point is 00:12:52 using the tools that we have as members of Congress, even though we are in the minority, and that's exactly what we plan to do.
