Episode Date: July 28, 2022The Mighty is a new program on The MeidasTouch Podcast channel where we highlight the incredible commentary of Meidas contributors. On this episode of The Mighty, British Broadcaster Anthony Davis di...scusses the most embarrassing member of the United States Senate. Ok, we know. We've gotta be more specific. Today, we are talking about none other than Lindsey Graham. You see, Lindsey Graham is working overtime to keep his title as the most pathetic person in the United States Senate. During a recent GOP summit, Graham, who had previously said he was done with Trump, explained why he thinks the disgraced former president, who led an insurrection against the United States, is actually good for the Republican Party. His answer is incredibly revealing not just regarding his own mindset, but it speaks to the broader way in which the fascist Republican Party is using Trump to achieve their goals. Anthony Davis's analysis is a must-listen to understand where the Republican Party is heading. New episodes of The Mighty are released on this channel Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hi there, this is Brett Mycelis, co-founder of Midas Touch, and you are listening to The Mighty.
The Mighty is a new program on the Midas Touch podcast channel where we highlight some of your favorite Midas contributors and give compelling reactions, responses, rants, and commentary.
You can always catch new episodes of the podcasts I do with my brothers on Tuesday and Friday
mornings when they drop as well. Now, I know you were expecting Jordy, but Ben and I decided to
suspend Jordy for just one episode. See, Jordy claimed he was the favorite Midas brother on the
last episode, and we all know that's just not true, so we had to put him in his place just a
little bit. But moving on from that,
on this episode of The Mighty,
we hear from top British broadcaster, Anthony Davis.
Anthony perfectly responds to Lindsey Graham,
who's working overtime to keep his title
as the most pathetic person in the United States Senate.
And boy, does he have more competition than ever.
See, during a recent GOP summit, Graham, who had previously said that he was done with Trump,
explained why he thinks the former disgraced president, well, currently disgraced, but former
president, who led an insurrection against the United States is actually good for the Republican
Party. Unbelievable. Anthony Davis, take it away. Don't believe all this stuff about
Ron DeSantis being the future president of the United States and the Republican candidate in
2024. I don't buy it. I think it's an interesting distraction. But, you know, DeSantis has never
really occupied the entire United States stage. He's very much focused on Florida. And, you know,
Floridian Republicans are lapping up all of his far right and extremist activities and policies,
and that suits him. But nationally, Donald Trump really is the man. And here is an example of that
with Lindsey Graham pleading his support for Donald Trump talking about him as the future of
the Republican Party too long if you think Trump is bad for the party I
disagree with you I think President Trump is good for the party let me tell
you why President Trump has gotten people who wouldn't give me or Romney or anybody else the time of day.
They believe that he is on their side.
You know, what happened with me and Trump, Larry?
Well, we found common ground.
You know, I was one of the 16 guys that ran against him.
And if you don't remember, it's really not your fault.
It didn't last that long on my part.
I remember.
I interviewed you on another network.
So I'm going to close with this thought.
Well, what happened?
But you're moving towards redemption.
Yeah, I am.
I'm trying.
I'm trying to move toward a strong America, and he's the vehicle to get us there.
So here's what I'm trying to do.
After I lost, I took my loss.
You know, he beat my brains out.
Who am I to give him advice?
Then we went over to the White House,
we had dinner,
and we started playing golf.
And here's what happened.
We found something in common.
I've come to like him,
and he likes him.
Now, let's not forget
what Lindsey Graham said
on the 6th of January, just after the insurrection, just after Donald Trump attempted to overturn the legitimate win of Joe Biden.
Trump and I, we've had a hell of a journey. I hate it being this way. Oh, my God, I hate it.
From my point of view, he's been a consequential president.
But today, first thing you'll see. All I can say is count me out. Enough is enough.
I'm done. Count me out. He didn't want to have anything to do with Donald Trump.
He said he tried. He'd done his best, he'd tried to play along with the whole
Trump machine, and this was the effect, was this violent mob attacking the US Capitol
and the likes of Lindsey Graham having to run for their lives. He made the point that day that he
was drawing a line and he was never going to have anything to do with Donald Trump ever again. And
yet here we are, a year and a
half later, where we see him licking the boots of Donald Trump, rekindling the love affair with
Donald Trump. And all of these characters, these senior members of the Republican Party,
Mitch McConnell and his friends, they're now in a situation where they might not like Trump,
they might not get on with Trump.
But they have an agreement with Trump.
Trump will bully people to donate money to their campaigns.
Trump will bully people to support them and support him.
Trump is the biggest bully in the party.
DeSantis doesn't quite work like that.
He's small fry in comparison. And also, let's not
forget, Donald Trump will not even allow Ron DeSantis to get close to the candidacy for president
in 2024. Trump wants power. He also wants to protect himself from prosecution and thinks that
if he runs again, then that might be a chance for him. Although that was questioned by Merrick Garland today,
who, when interviewed by NBC, said that we won't allow anything to get in the way
of seeking people who have broken the law for prosecution.
So, think about this very seriously.
Donald Trump is the Republican Party.
His craziness, as we saw in
a rally just a few days ago, in a speech yesterday, his insanity, he's pushing home of this theory
that he's still won the election and that Joe Biden is a fraudulent president. He has not stopped
with these lies. Call it the big lie, call it whatever you want.
But the fact is that Trump is still pushing all of this garbage.
And his supporters, including the likes of Lindsey Graham, have decided that they're going to back it once again.
I'm Anthony Davis.
You can hear me every day on the 5-Minute News podcast and on Sundays on The Weekend Show with Anthony
Davis. I mean, I can listen to Anthony's voice all day long. It is like butter. Thank you all so much
