from the Midas touch network rupert murdoch sat for two days of depositions last week on Thursday and Friday in connection with the $1.6 billion,
that's billion with a B, $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit brought against Fox by Dominion Voting
Systems in Delaware State Court. And the allegations of defamation relate to the fact that Fox was
spreading the big lie, spreading conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, but more
specifically spreading false information that Dominion was involved in a criminal conspiracy
to overturn the results of the 2020 election by essentially stealing votes from Donald Trump
and giving those votes to Joe Biden, now President Biden. These outlandish defamatory
accusations were clear on their face that they were false and defamatory at the time. In fact,
the president and CEO who reports to Rupert Murdoch of Fox said,
we can't give these crazies an inch. Yet Fox didn't just give them an inch, they gave the
crazies the entire platform to spread all this disinformation to try to make up for the fact
that Fox rightfully called the state of Arizona for President Biden, thus making it clear that
President Biden would win the 2020 election. And as Fox thought it was losing viewership,
they leaned in hard to all of these defamatory and frankly crazy conspiracy theories, but
criminal lies about Dominion and other things. But they focused a lot on Dominion and other things, but they focused a lot on Dominion and other systems like Smartmatic,
which only actually even had their voting machines in Los Angeles County, and so just the most
outlandish conspiracies to begin with. But you had people like Mike Lindell and Sidney Powell
and Rudy Giuliani and others who were spreading this false information about Dominion on Fox.
And Fox was giving them these platform to spread all of these lies. But this $1.6 billion trial
is scheduled now for April. The judge in Delaware State Court who's overseeing these proceedings is Judge Eric Davis.
Fox tried to get the case dismissed some months back and Judge Eric Davis by and large denied it. something that was newsworthy just because we're reporting about the losing side here,
the Donald Trump side, doesn't mean that we as a news organization, that's what they claim.
Although they've claimed in other lawsuits that they're not a news organization, that they just do
opinion pieces. But they said that this is something that they should be able to report,
and it was newsworthy and they were just
giving an alternative perspective. But not so, said Judge Eric M. Davis in denying Fox's motion
to dismiss. And they said, look, you were intentionally and maliciously, this is what
Dominion's arguing, platforming individuals who you know were spreading the lies. Your hosts knew they were
spreading the lies. They didn't challenge the lies. And they allowed these lies to permeate,
to try to undermine our democracy, but to defame Dominion and to say that somehow Dominion was
involved in a conspiracy with Hugo Chavez and Venezuela and the secret CIA bunker that was beaming this algorithm to the satellites that was
then going to Venezuela and then to Dominion that was changing the votes. And you caused people who
worked at Dominion to get death threats. You've caused a number of states and locations to cancel
contracts with Dominion. And you've caused Dominion grave
and significant financial harm with all of the defamatory conduct. And the fact that Rupert
Murdoch is being deposed is showing that Dominion has no interest in settling this case. And
apparently Fox doesn't either, and that this case is going to go to trial in April. And it really is a very
significant case for Fox because I could see a scenario where even before punitive damages are
awarded, a jury, when they hear these facts, when Sean Hannity is called as a witness, when Laura
Ingraham is called as a witness, and it is Ingraham, not Ingram. We spoke to her brother
who confirmed it's Ingraham for everyone who says it's Ingram. Laura Ingraham is called as a witness, and it is Ingraham, not Ingram. We spoke to her brother who confirmed it's Ingraham for everyone who says it's Ingram.
Laura Ingraham is a witness.
Tucker Carlson is a witness.
And by the way, the lawyers for Dominion, a recent status conference called Tucker Carlson,
incredibly squirmy, but ultimately admitted that he didn't believe any of these statements
that were being made against Dominion.
Same thing with Sean Hannity. Same thing with Laura Ingraham.
They knew these statements were false all the way to the top of Fox.
They knew these statements were false.
They were platforming these false statements intentionally so that they could keep their viewership.
It was driven by monetary interest. It was done with malice and it has caused great harm to our country and great harm to Dominion. And the fact, again, that Murdoch was deposed two days shows just the high stakes nature of this. giving testimony before British Parliament back in 2011 in connection with the News of the World
scandal where Murdoch's people, probably rising all the way to the top, were involved in basically
hacking into the phones of well-known people and celebrities and politicians and people like that
to gain information and to invade their privacy to report on certain facts.
There was a criminal investigation. There were criminal prosecutions in the UK about that.
And one of the things that Rupert Murdoch claimed back then was that he was too old and he had
nothing to do with it. And he said, don't worry, I'm going to make sure I fix this. But basically
threw one of his sons under the bus in that
situation. And so we'll see if he did the same thing here. We don't have the deposition transcripts
yet. It's possible the deposition transcripts will eventually get released the same way
Trump's deposition transcripts were released in the E. Jean Carroll case. But speaking of the E. Jean Carroll case, that's going to trial in April as
well. So April is going to be a very busy month for high profile trials against traitorous
individuals. Rupert Murdoch and Fox going to trial in a $1.6 billion lawsuit filed by Dominion.
Donald Trump going to trial in the civil rape and defamation
case brought by E. Jean Carroll, two cases involving defamation. Now, with public figures,
you have to show that the defamation under the New York Times v. Sullivan United States Supreme
Court standard, you have to show it was done with actual malice, meaning it was done intentionally and or with reckless disregard for the truth. I think Dominion has overwhelming
evidence that that is what took place here. Intentional and a reckless disregard for the
truth by Fox and its hosts. And by the way, this is just one of a number of lawsuits that has been filed
against Fox and its hosts. And so we will be covering this very closely here. But big news
to report, of course, that Rupert Murdoch has been deposed. This follows his son Lachlan Murdoch
being deposed. This follows Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham
all being deposed and all of the highest level people within Fox being deposed. Let me read for
you the statement that Dominion gave right now. The statement by Dominion was the following.
Dominion says, from the highest levels down, Fox knowingly spread lies about Dominion
causing enormous and irreparable damage. Instead of acting responsibly and showing remorse,
Fox instead has doubled down by publicly stating that they are proud of their Dominion-related
coverage. We're focused on holding Fox accountable and are confident the truth will ultimately
prevail. And then Fox responses that they claim
these were responsible journalists,
and they say, quote,
"'The freedom of speech and press would be illusory
"'if the prevailing party could obtain billions of dollars
"'from the press for providing the losing side a forum.'"
So stay tuned.
