The MeidasTouch Podcast - The GOP deflect and distract machine is failing and its hypocrisy over tyranny is exposed

Episode Date: July 2, 2022

On a new episode of The Mighty, we hear from Coach D and Boston Smalls.   Coach D discusses how the GOP has attempted to deflect and distract from the January 6 Commitee hearings by trying to scare... Americans about problems that the GOP has been responsible for creating and that the GOP has no plan or desire to fix. Next, we hear from Boston Smalls who addresses a recent Supreme Court ruling that federal border agents cannot face civil lawsuits for constitutional violations for their use of excess force. Boston Smalls ponders why those who argue for no gun regulations by claiming that the Second Amendment is intended to protect people from government tyranny don’t complain when the government is permitted to engage in actual tyranny like the Supreme Court allowing federal border agents to kill people while being immune from constitutional civil claims. Starting point is 00:02:25 On today's podcast, we'll hear from Midas contributors Coach D and Boston Smalls. First, to Coach D. In this clip, Coach D brilliantly exposes the hypocrisy of the GOP, trying to distract and deflect from the January 6th hearings by focusing on other issues which the GOP claims Americans should care about. But the GOP doesn't exactly have the best track record. In fact, they have literally the worst track record in trying to help regular Americans. Coach D, take it away. Coach D here. You know what I'm getting absolutely sick and tired of hearing? I'm getting so sick and tired of hearing the GOP's deflection and talking points to the January 6th hearings. Every time someone mentions the absolute criminal activity that took place on January 6th
Starting point is 00:03:15 and how Trump and many of his other cronies should be brought up on charges for inciting that violent attack on the Capitol, the GOP has decided to respond with, well, Americans don't care about that. They care about high gas prices. And while I agree that Americans do care about high gas prices, remember before 2022, before Joe Biden was elected, you know, before it was politically expedient to pretend to care about struggling Americans? Remember what you were saying to Americans who were struggling and wanted you to raise the minimum wage? Remember we were saying, you know, wages aren't matching inflation. Can you throw us a couple of crumbs and raise this by a couple dollars? You know, rent is rising rising but salaries aren't. Can you guys practice
Starting point is 00:04:05 bipartisanship and do something to bridge that gap? You know house prices are rising but our wages are staying the same. You guys mind helping out? Do you remember what you guys said? Well let me jog your memory. During that time many in the GOP were telling us to stop buying Starbucks, get rid of our iPhones and AirPods, raise yourselves up by the bootstrap, work harder, get a better job. When you had the chance to help regular American people, you ignored us. But sure, you care that we're paying more for gas. Remember in 2010 when Americans were saying, you know our health care system is ridiculous. Why are we paying so much more for medication than other countries? Why are families
Starting point is 00:04:54 having to take out second mortgages to pay for life-saving surgeries? Why are people having to borrow from family members to pay for routine procedures? We're afraid to ride in an ambulance or go to the emergency room because of the bill we anticipate getting. Remember what your response was? Well, let me jog your memory. Your response during that time was to debate if health care was a privilege or a right. And you went with the former. That's right, you told regular American people that life, liberty, and a pursuit of happiness didn't cover avoiding chronic pain or death if it meant taxpayers had to help pay for it. But sure, you care about us struggling
Starting point is 00:05:40 to fill up our gas tanks. Remember recently when Americans were saying, hey, can we make college more affordable or free? Why do we brag about how rich and exceptional our country is, but we can't extend K-12 to K-14 or 16? Is it possible to get a break on these book prices? Can we pay a little less for housing while in college or at least have better housing options? You see, I know firsthand how this can work because I'm a junior college professor in California where we made junior college free. I also choose to have a no textbook class because books cost over a hundred dollars and they make a new edition each year to suck more money out of students. But remember, when given the opportunity to help regular Americans
Starting point is 00:06:27 by addressing the rising cost of college, books, and room and board, you guys ignored that struggle. And instead, you pushed this narrative that kids shouldn't go to college because there's a lot of jobs out there that don't require a college degree. You even convinced the same blue-collar workers whose minimum wage you won't even raise to argue that BS alongside of you. You did nothing and so regular Americans are forced to leave college with debt up to their ears that typically will take them 20 years to pay off. But sure, your hearts are hurting
Starting point is 00:07:05 knowing we are struggling to pay for gas. Please. But I have a suggestion for people in the grand old party. If you're struggling with gas prices today, get rid of your subscription to the NRA. Stop donating to Republican super PACs and stop paying your monthly dues to the KK, Unite the Right or whatever other white supremacist group masquerading as a
Starting point is 00:07:29 nationalist group or whatever that you're a part of. Listen, these people have no heart. So once again, I say there is no rationalizing or compromising with them. They don't want that. They're walking platitudes and talking points who only want to stay rich and powerful. All we can do is rally people to vote them out. And that's it. Thanks, Coach D. And now let's go to Boston Smalls. For those who don't know Boston Smalls, let me try and give you the best depiction I can. Now, imagine the most jacked guy at
Starting point is 00:08:05 the gym. And that's Boston Smalls, who kicks ass and takes fascist names. Here, Boston Smalls reflects on a recent Supreme Court ruling holding that federal border agents can't be sued for excessive force despite the Fourth Amendment's protections against unlawful search and seizures. Essentially, under the ruling, a border agent could kill someone, but the Supreme Court claims that there is no constitutional civil claim that can be brought. Boston Smalls reflects on the inconsistency, how people who claim the Second Amendment should have no restrictions because of fears of government tyranny literally stay silent when the Supreme Court permits actual government tyranny and allows for federal border agents to attack and kill people without conditional civil remedy. Boston Smalls, take it away.
Starting point is 00:08:48 How many times? How many times now? Your whole argument about the Second Amendment being there so you can protect yourself against a tyrannical government. I need to be armed to take on the government in case it turns tyrannical and tries to take away my rights. How many f***ing times have we heard that piece of s*** line again and again and again? But on days like today, you got nothing to say. You're just f***ing silent, aren't you? Because the Supreme Court ruled, 6-3, that you no longer have a Fourth Amendment right within the first hundred miles of the f***ing U.S. border. Where you at? Huh? Because that's what it looks like to lose your constitutional rights. Now border patrol can just knock the down out of your door, go in your house, search the entire thing without a warrant, just whatever reason they come up with. That is tyranny. That is what
Starting point is 00:09:38 tyranny looks like. That's what it looks like to lose your f***ing rights. And you Second Amendment c***s got nothing to f***ing say. Why is that? Huh? Why? Could it be because it only affects largely black and brown people? No. I don't believe it. Now, I get it. I understand. I get it. Trust me. I get it. It's not nearly as bad as having to wear a
Starting point is 00:10:00 mask during a global pandemic so your elderly neighbor doesn't get sick and f***ing die. I f*** I hear you. To get an idea of what cities are inside the hundred miles of the border, here's a map. LA, Chicago, New York, all of Florida, Houston. Because when it comes to people of color, back to blue, right? When it comes to you, don't tread on me. Do I got that right?
Starting point is 00:10:45 Anyway, good talk. See you out there. Thanks, Boston Smalls. And thank you for listening to this episode of The Mighty. Make sure to subscribe to the Midas Touch Podcast channel now. Shout out to the Midas Mighty!
