They give him the most softball interviews possible, and he manages to screw those up. These are some of the most unhinged things. Then he goes and does these selfie videos where he's quite literally foaming at the mouth. And there is one answer that Donald Trump gave that was also deceptively edited that let's just say is very revealing. On the other hand,
Starting point is 00:01:58 President Biden is in France, specifically he's in Normandy marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Donald Trump, as a convicted felon, is banned from even traveling to France. President Biden gave a very powerful speech there, yet the corporate media and, of course, the right-wing propaganda media are running with deceptively edited milliseconds of president Biden sitting down and president Biden wearing Cole Han shoes. I want to talk about this and how just broken corporate media is right there. Um, also the MAGA Republicans in the Senate joined by by all the other Republicans, basically, blocked the Right to Contraception Act. Democrats said, look, it's clear to us after the fact that this MAGA Republican Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade that the next step, the next stop for them is to ban contraception. And then you see the Republicans doing their whole gaslighting thing going, oh, we're them is to ban contraception. And then you see the Republicans doing their whole gaslighting thing going,
Starting point is 00:03:07 oh, we're not going to ban contraception. So Democrats are like, bet, then let's codify it. Let's pass a bill. Let's make this into law saying that all, it's a very simple bill. All Americans have right to contraception. The Republicans blocked the bill from moving forward and then blamed the Democrats for politicizing the issue. We will break that down. Also breaking down, Steve Bannon, a Trump-appointed federal judge, Nichols, has finally revoked Steve Bannon's bond. Steve Bannon has been ordered to prison on July 1st after he lost his appeals.
Starting point is 00:03:52 We will break that down and what you can expect with Steve Bannon in jail. The ultimate irony of it is that because Steve Bannon did the typical Trumpy thing, delay, delay, delay, and push things out as far as possible. Now his four-month sentence will start in July and it will end while the election, the key election time period is still taking place. So he basically incarcerated himself during the key campaign period where he wants to do the most mischief. So that backfired. Also, you have federal judge Eileen Cannon doing things that, frankly, legal scholars, you know how Trump talks about legal, real legal scholars have never even heard of the things
Starting point is 00:04:38 Judge Eileen Cannon is doing with these paperless orders. She's quite literally inviting non-parties, third parties who are not in the Mar-a-Lago document case to show up in her courtroom and make arguments that will last a day and a half. That's just something that doesn't exist. She's also reshuffled all of the schedule so that the majority of hearings that will be taking place at the end of June relate to Donald Trump's, I call them tinfoil legal arguments, because this is just like that, like sovereign citizen type stuff that we hear about when people, you know, get pulled over for a ticket and go, you can't arrest me. I'm a sovereign. It's stuff like that, that Trump's basically arguing that special counsel Jack Smith was unlawfully appointed. The appropriations for Jack Smith are unlawful. It's a legal issue that should be dismissed immediately. Yet Judge Cannon will be devoting like an entire week for oral arguments, having random people show up and make oral arguments.
Starting point is 00:05:46 That's like what a Trump judge is. You compare that to other law and order judges. Imagine Alina Haba as a judge. That's basically Judge Eileen Cannon. We've got that and a lot more we want to discuss here. This is the Midas Touch podcast. I'm Ben Micellis, joined by Brett and Jordy. How are you guys doing? Doing great. I get jealous of you and Cohen on Political Beatdown sometimes that we don't get to start with cool stances. It's very cool. But no, I'm doing great. Every podcast needs a stance. Every podcast needs a stance. We need a Midas stance, I think. It's great to be here. It's
Starting point is 00:06:20 great to be here with the Midas Mighty. It's great to be here on this 80th anniversary of D-Day. What a day to be commemorating and just so incredible to see President Biden out there giving that speech, like a real patriotic American speech. And when Biden speaks like that and we hear him and he's on the global stage like that, I think it really cuts through a lot of this noise. But boy, is there a lot of noise. And we are going cuts through a lot of this noise, but boy, is there a lot of noise. And we are going to discuss a lot of the noise coming from these right-wing propaganda groups coming from the media who like you want to be able to trust and you see them pushing out this stuff. I also want to give a huge shout out brothers. Our cousin actually has a movie that just came out. And so I want to give a quick shout out to our cousin Lauren's
Starting point is 00:07:03 movie. It's called, am I okay? It's on the streaming service Max. Tig Notaro is one of the directors. Our cousin wrote it. Dakota Johnson's in it. Sean Hayes is in it. It's a great movie to watch, especially on Pride Month. It's a story of a woman navigating coming out later in life. And it's an incredible movie. Great reviews, great score on Rotten Tomatoes. So check out M.I.O.K. on Max. Just wanted to give that plug for the fam. Now, speaking of other fam, Jordy, what's new in your life, man? What's up? Shout out Cousin Lauren. Ben, I love that t-shirt you're in today. If you're just an audio listener, look, we love that you're an audio listener, but you got to get over to YouTube. Hit that subscriber. We're on our way to 3 million. Just see Ben's fashion alone, right? Yeah. Ben's got a great mustache going right now. He's got a great, great T, nice V-neck. I'm ready to get into it. What I'm really excited is for the conversation when we start to turn it towards Bannon. July 1st, it's a big day.
Starting point is 00:07:52 It's Bobby Bonilla Day for all those Met fans out there. It's Canada Day. It's my birthday. And now it's going to be Steve Bannon goes to jail day, July 1st. It's going to be a big July 1st this year, boys. Big B-Day, Jordy. And look, the 80th anniversary, if you will, of D-Day holds special significance in the Mycelis family as it does for millions of families, and it should for the whole country, and frankly, the whole pro-democracy loving world. Our grandpas, late grandpas, were both in World War II in different ways. Our grandpa, Murray,
Starting point is 00:08:28 was a tail gunner on B-29 missions and was part of the B-29 squad. And then our other grandpa, Harold, was a medical doctor as well, a psychiatrist. And so when I think about the sacrifices made by that generation, I think we are lucky that we're able to be able to just speak to you all doing this podcast and having this platform compared to the sacrifices they made. But it's so important that we preserve, protect, and defend our democracy. Let's talk about those threats to democracy right now. I want to share with you first some clips of Trump, and then I want to compare it with clips of Biden. So this was part of Donald Trump's propaganda tour post-conviction. And I want you all to listen to the absolute fear and panic that Trump has when he's asked a very specific question.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Let's play it for you right now. Would you declassify the 9-11 files? Yeah. Would you declassify JFK files? Yeah, I did. I did a lot of it. Would you declassify the Epstein files? Yeah, yeah, I would. All right. I guess I would. I think that less so because, you know, you don't know. You don't want to affect people's lives if it's phony stuff in there because it's a lot of phony stuff with that whole world. But I think I would. You don't hedge on a question about Epstein. OK, the answer is a very clear answer. He goes. Can I play Trump in this in this in this bit? If you want to declassify, he goes – Ask me. Can I play Trump in this bit?
Starting point is 00:10:08 Ben, ask me the question. Start with 9-11. You want to declassify the 9-11 files? Yes. You're going to declassify the JFK files? Yes. Yeah, of course. Are you going to declassify the Epstein files?
Starting point is 00:10:20 Lots of fake – those are fake. Fake files. Listen, a lot of them are – listen, a lot of, a lot of bad, a lot of people could be caught up in the information that's in those files and we don't want that to get out. Okay. That's an all timeline right there, Ben. You can't hedge on a question about Epstein. That is unbelievable. It's like, as many people know, there's a lot of fake things about that. No one knows that. What are you talking about? No one's ever, when Epstein's been brought up in a conversation, the corollary has never been, oh yeah, there's a lot of fake stuff there. You can't believe everything you hear about his victims, right?
Starting point is 00:10:55 It is, that is the most disgusting and vile man ever. And, but look, this is Donald Trump's history. I mean, Donald Trump partied with Epstein. This isn't like, oh, did he party? His name appears throughout the Epstein files. His name is on Epstein's flight log over and over again. introduce girls to Donald Trump and Donald Trump would install them in his apartment. Virginia Giuffre, one of the biggest victims of Epstein, one of the most prominently known victims of Epstein. The way she was connected to Epstein is she was like a runaway from her home and she had a very tough life as a young girl. And then she somehow started working at Mar-a-Lago and then she met Epstein at Mar-a-Lago because Donald Trump and Epstein would hang out
Starting point is 00:11:52 all the time. And then Epstein through Ghislaine Maxwell made her the massage person who then he sexually assaulted over and over again. So the links are not just like a little bit. The links are all over the place. And that's why he answered it that way. And by the way, these were supposed to be the propaganda interviews to promote Trump, to make him look good. And he can't answer the most basic questions. Like, take a look at this. So Hannity's asking Donald Trump questions about Chuck Schumer, Democratic Senator. Should we show how Fox presented that same clip first? Because I think it's important that we show, because I think a theme of this episode, I try to tie the episodes in themes. I don't tell the brothers what the themes are before the episodes, but I come up with them at some point in the middle and beginning of the episode and then I run with it. But I think the theme of this episode is going to be toxic propaganda and how propaganda works and how propaganda spreads, how propaganda is made. And this is one of the perfect
Starting point is 00:12:50 examples of that. So you saw that full clip of Donald Trump answering the question about Jeffrey Epstein, where he, you know, first he says, yes, I would. He has hedges. Yes, I would. Actually, less so that one, because a lot of bad people, a lot of people could be caught up in it. And, you know, he goes on that whole rant. Well, here's how Fox edited that clip and notice what they left out and how quickly they left his answer. Would you declassify the 9-11 files? Yeah. Would you declassify JFK files? Yeah. I did. I did a lot of it. Would you declassify the Epstein files? Yeah, yeah, I would. Attorney. And they're on to the next subject. I mean, it's so it's the most blatant propaganda ever. And I was so surprised because, you know, we watch all these things. We have researchers
Starting point is 00:13:36 watch all these things on the Fox broadcast of that clip. It was how you just saw it. They went straight to whatever the next question was right after Trump said those first two words of his answer. But the full footage is out there on the internet. And so I was going through the full footage yesterday and I was like, how did I not pick none of our research? Nobody picked up on this answer. This is a weird answer that he gave. And then I realized it's because they cut it out of the broadcast. And so right there, that's identifying right there propaganda, how it works and how Fox works to protect Trump and to try to smooth out his hard edges, which is a very generous way, I think, of putting it, but in that case, they are completely editing out Trump's entire fear and panic about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein so that their viewers don't see it. It's funny, as one of our Twitter followers wrote in response to the clip, they said, it's so funny how the QAnon movement was like, there's a rich cabal of child predators out there.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Let's put one of them in the White House and give the rest of them tax cuts. It's so true. When you think about this movement that they have, all these conspiracy theories, I do believe that a lot of it is just the whole ruse to protect these people, many of them on the right, who are engaged in this horrific behavior or who have engaged in this horrific behavior. So what do they do? Everything else, projection projection is confession and they try to put it on their opponents. And that's what we see here. The whole movement, the whole MAGA thing, which now taken over the Republican party is purely built on projection. And I think the one thing that's been a surprising exercise, which is why we've created the Midas Touch Network and changed career trajectories, you just assume that some of this projection is so obvious that the media would do their job as the fourth estate and call it out. And then they don't. But then it's so obvious that you're just like, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:15:43 Did you just see the answer? Do you see what he, it's, it's not even being hidden the way I've described it before. It's like a bad magician trying to do like a magic trick for like two-year-olds. It's like, do you see this in this hand? It's disappeared. And then I'm like, it's right there. I see what you're doing. It's in your other hand. Like you can't trick me. And then the media's response is, we don't know what hand it's in at all. And it's like, no, it's actually right there. Well, they say it's in that hand. You say it's in this hand. They say it's in that hand. So
Starting point is 00:16:15 it must be in the, between the two ends. You're like, I don't think. There was the moment, and we'll talk about it a little later also, with Donald Trump's black outreach, where Trump's like gone to Chick-fil-A's. He's brought up convicted felons. He's brought up people who are charged with felonies, like a dozen attempted murders, a murder. Donald Trump's sold these like the ugliest fake gold sneakers in the world. And then you had Byron Donald's, a MAGA Republican, talk about how actually during Jim Crow, things were better for the Black family. And the way the media reported it, if you go through all of these headlines, is like, Byron Donalds speaks about nostalgia
Starting point is 00:16:57 regarding Jim Crow, or like Democrats push back at the concept. It's either framing it the way Byron Donalds, the MAGA Republican said it, or that it's a political issue and Democrats are pushing back at it. And now there's both sides to whether or not Jim Crow was or wasn't good for the Black family or was a good time in our history, when objectively it is one of the most shameful aspects of our history. Like, what are you talking about? We'll talk a little bit more about that in a bit. I want to show you this portion as well. This is from the Hannity propaganda fest where Hannity was quite literally feeding Donald Trump the lines of what to say, not the other types of lines. Here's Sean Hannity talking about Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer.
Starting point is 00:17:44 And here's what Donald Trump says. Here, play this clip. And that they once had. You'll give it to them. Yeah, I have. I'm good. I'm good. But they don't have the backing.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Even Schumer has become like a Palestinian. Chuck Schumer, Jewish, always strong for Israel. He's become like a Palestinian. And then as Donald Trump continues to rant and r rape, by the way, do you notice there that he uses the word Palestinian as an insult, as though the name Palestinian itself is a pejorative word. So just to be very clear where he is on those issues, let's just listen to what he says there. And then he just starts ranting and raving like a total lunatic. Hannity's trying to feed him just what to say. The whole point of what Hannity wants him to say is just one line, that you don't really mean that you want to be the dictator for a day.
Starting point is 00:18:37 That's the whole purpose of this. Then Fox wants to then show that, that look, he doesn't really mean he wants to be a dictator and that Trump will stop what Fox is labeling the politicization of the justice system, which is actually just holding Donald Trump accountable for his crimes. That was the two points of the interview that they prepped Trump before, but he couldn't figure that out even though they told him that. So let me just show you this part. This is where Hannity's saying, hey, you need to stay focused. Stay focused for a second here, Donald. Let's focus on what we're trying to do here. Watch this. Let me go back to the phone. I say a lot of things about it, but it's whatever I say about it, it's real bad. But let me stay focused for just a second, if I may. I'm reminded of what Michael Cohen said on Political Beatdown when I asked him about why he thinks Donald Trump kept on falling asleep in court.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Cohen said that during his 21 hours of testimony, he estimated that Donald Trump was asleep for 95% of it. And I asked Cohen, have you ever seen that behavior in him before when you knew him? And Cohen said no. So I said, what do you think that's about? Cohen says he's a literal baby. And so in Donald Trump's mind, he goes, I'm not here. I'm in Mar-a-Lago. I'm eating a Mar-a-Lago burger. You don't see me. And that's actually a great explanation for what Trump is by just kind of cognitively checking out.
Starting point is 00:20:27 There may be broader and deeper cognitive issues as well related to that. But I thought that what Cohen said was spot on. So here, Hannity's like, look, just listen. You've said you want to be a dictator. You don't really mean like when you said that to me, I interpret it as a joke. You're joking, right? And Donald Trump can't even answer the question the way Hannity's leading him to just answer, no, I don't want to be a dictator because Trump wants to be a dictator. Watch this. He said, I would be dictator for the day and just to secure the border and drill for oil. I thought it was tongue in cheek. I was sitting there with you. However, my question is very serious one.
Starting point is 00:20:43 You know, people are claiming you want retribution. People are claiming you want what has happened to you done to Democrats. Would you do that ever? Look, what's happened to me has never happened in this country before. And it has to stop because... Wait a minute. I want to hear that again. It has to stop. Well, it does have to stop because we're not going to have a country...
Starting point is 00:21:04 And if you're elected, what does that mean to find that? Look, what I've gone through, nobody's ever gone through. I'm a very legitimate person. I built a great business. Everything's been I have been under siege. Nobody's ever seen anything like this in this country. I'm legitimate. I'm a legitimate person. Is that something that actual legitimate people go around saying, honey, I'm a, I'm legitimate. I'm a legitimate person.
Starting point is 00:21:36 I built things. You're not even answering what the question is. And then, and then Hannity's like, okay, stop. What though? You don't want to be a dictator. Is that what you're trying to say? I'm a legitimate person. I'm legit. And then in the other interview that Trump did on Fox, he used it as a platform to defame his sexual assault victim. I think this one's actually from Newsmax. He did his right-wing tour that I
Starting point is 00:22:03 want to show you. So he does Fox & Friends, Hannity, and Newsmax. And on Newsmax, he goes, you know what? I'm going to defame his sexual assault victim right now. Here, play this clip. It's so badly hurting the state of New York, what he's done. But I had it done with two other judges, Judge Angorin and Judge Kaplan. This is a cabal. This is a terrible thing that's happening.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Giving a woman that I have no idea. We have no you know that case. No idea. Other than the fact that she had a picture taken many, many years ago. I've never met this woman. I don't know this woman. And I'm supposed to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a fictional story. And Judge N. Gorin, I built a great company. The company turned out to be much better than anybody ever thought. And he fined me almost $500 million. In E. Jean Carroll's first defamation sexual assault case, Donald Trump refused to testify. He fled. He went to Scotland and Ireland. He held a shovel,
Starting point is 00:23:06 claimed he was building things. And he said he was going to show back up and confront E. Jean Carroll and testify. He never did that. A jury found in favor of E. Jean Carroll. In the second E. Jean Carroll trial, another jury that Donald Trump's lawyers got to select found in favor of E. Jean Carroll. There was a criminal case against the Trump Organization for tax fraud. A jury found against Donald Trump and convicted the Trump Organization on over a dozen felonies. Donald Trump then had the most recent trial for falsification of business records. Another jury, unanimous, it all has to be unanimous juries, found that Donald Trump was guilty on all 34 felony counts. Guilty, guilty, guilty, and guilty in multiple cases. And then remember before Justice and
Starting point is 00:23:59 Goran, remember the main thing Trump was whining about? We were deprived a jury. That was his main, he'd go out every day. He'd first lie and say, Justice N'Goran says that Mar-a-Lago is worth $18 million and made an independent appraisal, which Justice N'Goran didn't do. He used Donald Trump's own appraisal when Donald Trump wanted to pay less property taxes. That's all that Justice N'Goran did. The other thing Donald Trump said is, this is rigged. I don't get a jury. Well, then you get a jury, and Donald Trump says, the jury is rigged. And then you go back in his history, everything is rigged. Everything is unfair. Everything is a lie. Everything is a cover-up. And the only person that's ever to be believed as part of his cabal is him.
Starting point is 00:24:46 It's whatever he says, regardless of if the objective facts and data that we all see and we all observe make it very clear that he is wrong, that he is lying. And the job of the media should not be to both sides the truth. As Michael Cohen said, there's only one side to the truth. I want to compare what Donald Trump's been saying to what President Biden said on the 80th anniversary of D-Day. I also want to show how the corporate media has been covering all of this. Of course, another corporate media fail. And then we should talk about Biden's policy announcement on immigration. We should talk about Steve Bannon going to prison.
Starting point is 00:25:30 We should talk about Judge Cannon shenanigans. We should talk about how the MAGA Republicans block the Right to Contraception Act. There's a lot to talk about, folks. Let's take our first quick break of the show. I'm a cat person, and I'm proud of it. They say, happy cat, happy life. Something like that. Cats are a great companion and my cats bring me so much joy. Beam's been around with us now for a little bit and we love Beam here at the Midas Touch Podcast. So definitely check that out. You know, one of the things we've been talking about is the only thing that the Trump campaign is running on and pushing is the strong man versus weak man
Starting point is 00:29:36 paradigm because Trump doesn't even know how to put together sentences. We show you his speeches in full context. Trump can't really even put the words together. And when he does, it's clear it's just wannabe fascism. It's not even fascist. He wants to be it, but he's also like a fascist fanboy, which I don't know if that makes it worse or better. It's certainly more embarrassing, but I think they're both equally bad. And that's why he gives the speeches, you know, Putin, he's such a tough guy. And Xi and Kim Jong, they're not tough. They're losers. Those are the types of people who in previous times in American history, we would say that is not how you're supposed to treat your citizenry. That's
Starting point is 00:30:22 not how you can, especially Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin. Those are not winners. Those are not tough guys. Viktor Orban from Hungary, not a tough guy. What are you talking about? So he pushes, look, a big poll number, big crowds, and then you lie about them all. By the way, we got a glimpse into that mentality during the Trump trial where we saw how they were quite literally trying to buy polls and buy the algorithms to change polling in 2016. That's his big polls, big crowds, and then try to compare that of President Biden giving a powerful speech, and they will deceptively edit quite literally a millisecond of President Biden's otherwise speech. They'll deceptively edit it. They'll push that out to the media. And then you'll get headlines like on one of the first Google pages of Newsweek that says, Joe Biden move at D-Day speech goes viral. Awkward. And then the whole right-wing media pushes that. And they don't show the context
Starting point is 00:31:32 of President Biden's speech. On the other hand, what the media does is they will edit out 99.9% of a Trump speech where he's clearly cognitively declined. He can put together sentences. He says the strangest stuff, Hannibal Lecter, rather be electrocuted than eaten by sharks, the late, great Al Capone. I mean, it's just the craziest stuff that's not even tethered to like, what? What is he saying? They edit all of that out. And then they write, we've almost called it like propaganda pro-fascist AI, because all of these stories look the same, especially the local media stories. And Trump stood in front of a crowd of MAGAs who were all, the MAGA supporters who were all
Starting point is 00:32:16 screaming, USA, USA. And Donald Trump declared in a loud, boisterous voice that that's something that someone that age would never be able to do. Joe Biden, you're fired. And they run that same script over and over again versus talking about Hannibal Lecter. He's bragging about overturning Roe v. Wade. He's saying the late great Al Capone. He's brought on stage individuals who are alleged to be the leaders of the Crips gang in New York who engaged in 12 attempted murders. He brought on stage someone who's on the sex registry list who pled guilty to being with underage girls. Why don't you report on the things that are actually happening versus spewing Trump's propaganda? And let me show you what the RNC did. And here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:33:10 If you want to criticize President Biden because you don't like his policies, we'll talk in a little bit about President Biden's executive order on immigration and strengthening the borders because Donald Trump killed a bipartisan border deal. If you want to criticize President Biden's policy, regardless of which political side you are, because you think it's too tough or too weak, then make your arguments, but bake it in a reality, and let's have a real conversation about it. That's fine. But when you go to these lanes to quite literally manipulate the footage and, and serve people something that didn't happen, it's, it's horrific. And here's what they did. Um, let me show you on the left, you'll see the RNC's deceptively
Starting point is 00:34:01 edited clip one second before president Biden sits in the chair. On the right, you'll see the rest of what happened after the clip was cut. And it almost looks like what the RNC did as well is they also elongated a portion where President Biden was about to sit down. Because when you see him sitting down, it's fairly normal. It's just somebody sitting down. But this was their whole narrative that they pushed today. Because their whole campaign, we have to understand why are they doing this? Sure, it's to make fun of Biden. Sure, but there's a broader structural thing that is trying to be achieved here systemically that I just want us all to be aware of. And that's the strong man,
Starting point is 00:34:46 weak man paradigm and push that in people's minds so that no matter what the issue is, you go, oh, Trump's stronger on that, Biden's weaker on that because all of the imagery being pushed out is that. And that's something that we've seen before in authoritarian regimes. And so it's so odd to see that here in the United States and actually be embraced, not just by Trump's right-wing propaganda media, but by corporate media. This is Kate Bennett, by the way. Kate Bennett used to be a CNN White House correspondent. That was what her job was. And she posted, and it's a photo of President Biden's sneakers or President Biden's shoes. And they are Cole Haan shoes.
Starting point is 00:35:32 They're fairly normal shoes. It would make sense that somebody who's older would also be wearing a shoe like that for comfort or someone who has bad arthritis. Like he's wearing comfortable shoes. And then they push that as their narrative. Look at the shoes he's wearing. Look at how he's sitting down. Because what they know, what they don't want the American people to see is what President Biden's actually saying. They don't want people to see what real leadership and real strength looks like. So here is President Biden saying that what we have to do is ask ourselves, will we stand against tyranny, against evil, against crushing brutality of the iron fist?
Starting point is 00:36:19 Let me show you what he had to say. In their generation, in their hour of trial, the allied forces of D-Day did their duty. Now the question for us is, in our hour of trial, will we do ours? We're living in a time when democracy is more at risk across the world than any point since the end of World War II, since these beaches were stormed in 1944. Now we have to ask ourselves, will we stand against tyranny, against evil, against crushing brutality of the Iron Fist? Will we stand for freedom?
Starting point is 00:36:58 Will we defend democracy? Will we stand together? My answer is yes, and only can be yes. We're not far off from the time when the last living voices, those who fought and bled on D-Day, will no longer be with us. So we have a special obligation. We cannot let what happened here be lost in the silence of the years to come. We must remember it, must honor it and live it. We must remember the fact that they were heroes here that day does not absolve us from what we have to do today. Democracy is never guaranteed.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Every generation must preserve it, defend it and fight for it. That's the test of the ages. In memory of those who fought here, died here, literally saved the world here. Let us be worthy of their sacrifice. Let us be the generation that when history is written about our time in 10, 20, 30, 80 years from now, it'll be said when the moment came, we met the moment. We stood strong. Our alliances were made stronger. We saved democracy in our time as well. Thank you very much. And may God bless you all. May God protect our troops. Thank you. It's a powerful speech. I mean, a powerful speech. And that's what should be being played on corporate media. That should be what's played on news programs. And they should show that what
Starting point is 00:38:41 a real leader looks like. Objectively, that's what a real leader looks like. Yeah, that's what the Republicans don't want you to see. That's what a lot of people don't want you to see because President Biden does look strong in those clips. President Biden is presenting a powerful message. And perhaps the most threatening thing to people like these modern day Republicans is President Biden is out there defending democracy. And that is the biggest threat to the Republican Party, because this is so much even bigger than America. This is even so much bigger than MAGA. But I think by now, what we have all seen is that there is this global network of autocrats that are all working in concert with one another in order to try to destroy democracy in the United States and across
Starting point is 00:39:26 the world. I think all these things are intertwined. And President Biden even spoke about this. I'm not sure if any of you had a chance to read the Time Magazine piece with President Biden when he was interviewed in that. But President Biden had some incredible answers to things, a lot of great insights. And I think one of the comments that resonated to me was he said something to the effect of, look, all the bad guys want Trump to win. All the bad guys want him to win. Think about it. All of the bad guys want Trump to win. Why do you think that is? And I think it's obvious why we think that is because Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Viktor Orban, these are all people of the same ilk. These are all people who share the same goals. And you could expand
Starting point is 00:40:05 that out even to all these other sort of oligarchs around the country, including in the United States and Elon Musk type, right? These are all people who are part of these wealthy, kind of autocratic, oligarchical regimes that want to have all the power in the entire world. That's their goal. And that's what they're pushing every single day. That's what Ukraine is about. That's what the fight for democracy here is about. That's why, you see, I've seen a lot of comments today with, you know, normally as a country, as Americans, we would all celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We would celebrate our veterans, and that would be it, right? We would offer words of
Starting point is 00:40:46 adoration for these heroes, right? The brave men and women in our armed forces who put their lives at risk. And what I saw today by so many of these commenters, when anybody on the so-called right would do a post about D-Day, they would say things like, the wrong people won the war, saying the Nazis should have won World War II. I've seen that comment so many times on apps like X, Twitter, which is just now a full-on right-wing propaganda echo chamber. But that's what they want. That's what Russia is pushing. That's what all these autocrats are pushing. So it's so much even bigger than the United States. And I think President Biden understands that he is defending democracy, not just here, but everywhere on the globe. And it's up to all of us to protect it, that this is more than one man. This is more than President Biden. This is about the American experiment. This is about what we have fought for, what our ancestors have fought for, for this country. President Biden also was at the same cemetery where Donald
Starting point is 00:41:47 Trump refused to go, right? Where Donald Trump said that those who died in war serving our country are suckers and losers. And you know who confirmed that Donald Trump said that? Donald Trump's former chief of staff, a decorated military general, John Kelly, said that Donald Trump made those statements and that Donald Trump also said he doesn't know who the good guys or the bad guys were in World War I and that Donald Trump did not want to be photographed with disabled veterans because Trump said that would make him look weak and make him look bad. Those were statements confirmed by Donald Trump's former chief of staff. Donald Trump's former vice president doesn't support him. Donald Trump's former national security advisor doesn't support him. Donald Trump's former defense secretary says that Donald Trump is an existential threat to the world. I could keep going on, but this will take the entire show if I did that. Instead, I want to show you another clip of President Biden talking about walking the roads of the cemeteries that he has and that these people are heroes, not suckers and losers, as Donald Trump says.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Let's play that clip. There's has always been the story of America. Just walk the roads of the cemeteries I had. Nearly 10,000 heroes buried side by side, officers and enlistedlisted immigrants and native born different races, different faiths. But all Americans all serve with honor when America and the world needed the most. Millions back home did their part as well. From coast to coast, Americans found countless ways to pitch in. They understood our democracy is only as strong as all of us make it together.
Starting point is 00:43:50 The men who fought here became heroes, not because they were the strongest or toughest or were fiercest, although they were, but because they were given an audacious mission, knowing every one of them knew the probability of dying was real. But they did it anyway. They knew beyond any doubt there are things that are worth fighting and dying for. Freedom is worth it. Democracy is worth it. Democracy is worth it. America's worth it.
Starting point is 00:44:28 The world is worth it. Then, now, and always. The war in Europe didn't end for another 11 months. But here, the tide turned in our favor. Here, we proved the forces of liberty are stronger than the forces of conquest. Here, we prove that the ideals of our democracy are stronger than any army or combination of armies in the entire world. We prove something else here as well, the unbreakable unity of the allies. So for all the media that covered Donald Trump's unhinged conferences before, after, and during trial that go to Mar-a-Lago whenever Donald
Starting point is 00:45:17 Trump gives a conference there or Trump Tower or follow Donald Trump's events. Look, if you want to report on that stuff, report on it accurately about what's taking place, but then report on what President Biden is doing. Report on what just took place. That should be leading the coverage also, and it should be the same amount of time at least should be devoted to calling Trump out as we're doing also to showing you what President Biden is saying. And this is why when President Biden gives the State of the Union, when there's a debate, which Biden won two of the debates, and then Trump chickened out of the third debate in 2020.
Starting point is 00:46:04 And one of the debates Trump showed up to, Trump hid that he had COVID and tried to get Biden to contract COVID at that time. The American people are always like, whoa, what? Biden exceeds expectations. Whoa, what is that? And then Trump always does not exceed expectation and far lower than what the expectation, he can't even put a word together. He's awful. What a horrible performance. Because when you actually get to see them side by side, you're able to make these observations. But then notice right after the State of the Union or right after Trump's felony conviction, what usually happens? Some big right-wing source, in the most recent example, the Wall Street Journal, after the conviction, they have their hit piece ready to go. Their
Starting point is 00:46:51 source is Kevin McCarthy. And then they go and say, we're just going to not trust your eyes. Here's what our source, Kevin McCarthy, and other right-wingers who are Trumpers, say about President Biden's mental acuity, here's what you should look at. So don't actually trust us. I mean, don't actually trust your own eyes, trust what we're saying. And we see that over and over again. By the way, it's why Donald Trump is not, I still believe, is not going to debate. We all know that Donald Trump recently, his lawyers, we reported here, filed to lift the gag order in the New York case after the criminal conviction. That's being opposed by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Donald Trump's sentencing is July 11th.
Starting point is 00:47:40 The first presidential debate is set to take place June 27th. I have no doubt that what Trump's setting this all up for is to say, I'm gagged. I can't do the debate. It's unfair. And he's going to use the gag order as an excuse to try to not debate. And it's all unfair. It's all weaponized. The same way he did that to avoid testifying and that he always does that to avoid testifying.
Starting point is 00:48:09 He is a scared individual. He's not strong. He's weak. He's not a builder. He's a destroyer. He's not successful. Mostly all of the things he's touched are scams or went bankrupt. He's not standing on stage. He knows how bad he's
Starting point is 00:48:27 going to look in that forum. So I just think that when you see Trump speak, when you see Biden speak and you see the real context, not what's selectively edited, you know why Trump's the one who's actually afraid to debate. Same way when the media was trying to give the narratives that Cohen was not going to testify well. And then because they came up with the narrative, they had to try to find the one second of Cohen's testimony where maybe a point was scored by Donald Trump's lawyer that was not even a big point. And then they had to justify their false narrative versus actually just reporting on the truth, like what we all see.
Starting point is 00:49:06 And so that's why I believe Trump has actually filed the lift the gag order. He wants it to be rejected so he can say it's all a big conspiracy and so he could whine. I think it's also important that we show you those clips of Biden with Trump and then call out the propaganda. I want to take a quick ad break right now. When we get back, Brett, I want to hear your thoughts, though, about Biden's speech. I want to talk about a few other things, especially Republicans blocking the Right to Contraception Act, Steve Bannon going to prison. Let's talk about that and more, but let's take our last quick ad break of the show. Hey, everyone. I'm super excited to talk to you about HelloFresh,

AI might be the most important computer technology ever.
Starting point is 00:51:16 It's storming every industry and literally billions of dollars are being invested. So buckle up, folks. The problem is that AI needs a lot of speed and processing power naturally. So how do you compete without the cost spiraling out of control? Good question. It's time to upgrade to the next generation of the cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or OCI. OCI is a single platform for your infrastructure database, application development, and AI needs. OCI has four to eight times the bandwidth of other clouds,
Starting point is 00:51:52 offers one consistent price instead of variable regional pricing, and of course, nobody does data better than Oracle. So now you can train your AI models at twice the speed and less than half the cost of other clouds if you want to do more and spend less like uber 8x8 and data bricks mosaic take a free test drive of OCI at Oracle dot-com slash Midas go to Oracle dot-com slash me-E-I-D-A-S. That's oracle.com slash Midas.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Go to oracle.com slash Midas and tell them the Midas Touch brothers say hello. Hello. I love that. Hello. Shout out to the sponsors. I have a challenge right now issuing it to all the Midas Mighty. Can you all click that Oracle link and go check out their website right now? The vanity link in the YouTube description and the audio description. Last time we did this, they reported back to me like their servers have never
Starting point is 00:52:53 seen so much traffic from one episode of a show. So let's show them that we could even double that this time. So click on that link. Shout out to the pro-democracy sponsors, y'all. And Ben, real quick, talking about the Biden speech. When President Biden, time and time again, when he's able to speak to the American people, to the world, that's a true leader. And I think people are generally smart. And when they're able to receive President Biden's words without all the spin that you see from corporate media and these wackadoo X accounts, they agree that President Biden is the leader that this country needs, that this world needs at this
Starting point is 00:53:31 moment to continue to protect democracy here in the States and abroad. And it's just like when, to your point, exactly when he's able to give that speech, Ben, to the State of the Union, during the State of the Union, everyone's like, oh my gosh, I didn't know President Biden could speak like this. I have a hot take here. I'm kind of okay with these right-wing entities pushing this narrative that President Biden can't speak or whatnot, because it becomes like a ridiculous rake-stepping moment time and time again for all of these MAGA Republicans who are just so baffled by their own propaganda that they actually think President Biden can't walk, that they actually think he can't speak. Meanwhile, it's their own guy. It's Donald Trump who can't do these things. So when President Biden's just
Starting point is 00:54:12 able to just be a normal person, get out a couple of words here, all talking about defending democracy and preserving the country for the world. Yeah, that message resonates with the people. And so time and time again, it's just incredible to me that then they have to run with, yeah, that message resonates with the people. And so time and time again, it's just incredible to me that then they have to run with, oh, he must have a shot. They must have given him a shot. He must be on drugs if he's able to speak like this to the world. No, no. You just got high off your own supply, MAGA Republicans, and your reality does not match the real reality that is happening in this country. And I agree with you to an extent, Jordy. I do think they're diluting themselves, right? And they have put themselves in their own echo chamber where they are just spreading false
Starting point is 00:54:55 information to each other. And that's why kind of at the midterms, they thought they were so popular and then they were shocked when that red wave didn't come up, right? Red wave, red wave. And I think that does happen. I think the issue occurs when- Is corporate media up for the challenge? It's not even just corporate media. I'm going to put corporate media aside. But they are a part of this. But it's when it seeps into the real world. And so you have X, which is his own echo chamber, right? But those bad actors post these edited clips on a platform like X, those are then taken and reposted on other platforms like TikTok, um, like Instagram. And then those same false narratives
Starting point is 00:55:32 are spread. And by the time they, then they are talked about on podcasts that maybe people, you know, consider to be a political podcast, like not, not political podcasts. And then they're like, Oh, then they reference, oh, look at this goofy moment of Biden. And they don't see the fact check. And they don't realize that it originated in these very deceitful places. That's the issue I have. Also the fact, and Jordi and I were speaking about this earlier, that the one thing that Twitter, I'm not going to call it X, the one thing that Twitter still has going for it is that that's where the journalists are. That's where the journalists are obsessively looking every single day. So they're almost gaslit by the same propaganda that these right-wing echo
Starting point is 00:56:17 chambers are gaslighting themselves with. And then they buy into the narratives. And I think one of the interesting things that somebody did point out on Twitter, this person named Magdy Jacobs, is how different the questions were that were asked to Donald Trump and Joe Biden in this time interview, and how that speaks volumes as to who the media actually believes is able to handle a complex question compared to who needs to sort of be babied through the questions. So I'll put them side by side here. And this is what Magdy Jacob said online. She said, I read Times interviews with Trump and Biden side by side, something striking. The substance of Trump and Biden's answers is, of course, quite distinct. But even more than that, one could tell the interviewer has more confidence in the intellectual
Starting point is 00:57:03 capacity of one man over the other. The interviewers at time seem to believe one man, Biden, is capable of answering a complex question containing multiple premises. The interviewer at time seemed to not believe the other man, Trump, is capable of answering a simple, unlayered question. And you can look at on the left side here, I have the questions, the way they ask them to Donald Trump. On the right side, you see the way the question is asked to President Biden. And for those listening, on the left, you see questions about China to Trump that are one sentence, very quick. I want to get your thoughts on China. Should the U.S. defend Taiwan if China invades? Compared to a question asked to President Biden,
Starting point is 00:57:45 which is actually very complex and gets into much more intricate things, loads it with a lot more questions within that one question. Here's the question they asked to Biden. So getting exactly to that point, pretty much everybody agrees that managing China's rise is the most important foreign policy and national security issue for America and Americans in the coming century. CIA Director Bill Burns says that President Xi Jinping of China has ordered the Chinese military to be ready by 2027 to conduct a successful invasion of Taiwan. You said on multiple occasions that you would use US forces to defend Taiwan. What does that mean? As it boots on the ground, what shape would that take? And I'm not knocking the questions here or the interview here whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:58:23 I'm just acknowledging the fact that clearly those two sets of questions, when you just say, so what do you think about China to Trump? And when you layer in this multi-layered kind of much more complex series of facts to President Biden, you as a reporter are telling on yourself as to who you think is more intellectually capable to handle these sorts of issues. You know, that to me says it all. There are a couple other things I would like to play also from the D-Day speech while we're still talking about it, because I think it shows President Biden's patriotism and how much he really loves the country and how much he feels it in his soul.
Starting point is 00:59:01 There was this moment where they had the planes fly over during the D-Day ceremony in Normandy. And President Biden's reaction to me, I think, says so much about who he is as a man. And I apologize right now to the audio listeners that you can't see his reaction, but you can check it out on our social media. But here it is. You could tell President Biden feels that in his bones, right? A passion for this country. And I've never seen that of somebody like Donald Trump. I really don't believe he feels that way about the country. I think he hates the values that our troops fought for in World War II. I legitimately do. There was this beautiful moment. Of course, the Republicans were also lying. President Biden left and never said anything to the troops. He met with a lot of the troops, all of them, when he was there. Just constant lies. There
Starting point is 00:59:59 was this one particular moment that I found especially powerful that I wanted to play to folks here. President Biden told the man, your generation saved civilization, man. You really did and gave him a commemorative, a command coin from the US government. These little powerful moments, these candid moments caught on camera, I think really do say a lot about the individuals. Speaking of pro-democracy individuals and this global fight for autocracy and people who MAGA are very against, I wanted to play this clip of President Zelensky from Ukraine also meeting with a World War II veteran. And this conversation, which I found just so incredibly heartwarming. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero.
Starting point is 01:01:07 I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero.
Starting point is 01:01:08 I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero.
Starting point is 01:01:09 I hear a, oh, you are our hero.
I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. I hear a, oh, you are our hero. That was such a touching moment right there of President Zelensky with the World War II
Starting point is 01:01:27 veteran. And by the way, also a massive crowd there. That crowd actually looked bigger to me than Trump's crowd in the Bronx by far, by multiples, and also looked bigger than the crowd in Wildwood, New Jersey. but you don't hear President Biden saying, did you see the crowd size that I had in Normandy? It was the biggest crowd. No, because it's not about you and your crowd. It's about the veterans. It's about the troops. It's about the day. And when you think about what went down, for example, in Wildwood, where Trump inflated the numbers, he used the MAGA mayor to give false information to the media. The media laundered it. Even the Associated Press said 80,000 people were there. And then later, the MAGA mayor said, oh, actually, we were saying the total amount of people
Starting point is 01:02:17 who entered into the city of Wildwood, not who actually attended the event. And when they were putting out that number, 80,000, what we were saying right away is no, that's false. You previously said the entire venue could hold 20,000. It wasn't more than half full. So at most 10,000 people just using common sense, but no, the media wanted to run with 80,000. And the reason why I say that though, too, is why I'm even talking about it with the media, not covering the crowd size with Biden, nor do I think they should, but covering the crowd size of Trump, which is BS numbers is that it also creates the strong man, weak man paradigm that it's like, Trump's going to win New Jersey. He's strong in New Jersey. No, he isn't. He actually isn't. You know how he's not
Starting point is 01:03:02 strong in New Jersey? The Republican Senate primary candidate he endorsed. The person who he said on the Republican side, the party he controls, her name is Christine Serrano Glassner. He said, vote her because her opponent supports Chris Christie, who used to be Donald Trump's friend, but he doesn't kiss the ring enough for Donald Trump anymore. So that's why Trump said support Christine Serrano Glassner. She got crushed on Tuesday in the Republican primary. So for all of the big crowd size, the person Trump endorsed in front of that big crowd size lost because guess what? Most normal Americans are not going to events like that. They're not showing up wearing diapers or peeing into pee
Starting point is 01:03:52 funnels on each other while Donald Trump's giving speeches. They're not going to these weirdo grifty events here. Donald Trump talk about Al Capone and talk about Hannibal Lecter. Most Americans on the weekends or on their free time, taking care of their families, have hobbies. They're not following Donald freaking Trump around wherever he goes, but that's what their strong man, weak man narrative wants to push. And Ben, it's the perfect real world example of what Jordy was saying before, right? They get high on their own supply of Trump's going to win New Jersey, Trump's going to win New York. And then guess what? They get hit with the reality that actually he's not very popular in these places. And there's an actual vote and you actually see the real world step into the propaganda. And you see the Trump endorsed candidate who he put up in front of all those people that he claimed was billions or, you know, or 100,000 is what he actually claimed. That person loses. It's why I am okay in certain instances when unfortunately the corporate media just runs with whatever the campaign, the Trump campaign says, because it creates an outsized perspective
Starting point is 01:04:58 of the actual love there is out there for Donald Trump. And so what I mean by that is when there's 80,000 people, Ben, just like we're saying, when he says that and they run with the headlines that they came to his event, fake crowds don't vote, right? Just the same as you can't spend fake money when he said that he raised $200 million the day after he got convicted. Well, sooner or later, he's going to have to report these numbers. And I'm looking at you, corporate media, to make sure that you dig through those reports and really see if you actually did raise those funds because something, you know, I would take a guess that he doesn't or the night when he raised $50 million. He can't spend fake dollars and he can't get votes from fake people. So in those instances, I'm okay with it because
Starting point is 01:05:36 the Midas Touch Network and the Midas Mighty, we're going to be here to fact check these ridiculous instances of these lies. And part of the ridiculousness is that the MAGA Republicans don't even deal with their own contradictions, right? On the one hand, Trump's going to flip New York. He's so popular in New York, bodegas, New York City, everybody loves him. But then wait a minute, he doesn't get a fair jury because the jury's all Democrat. Everyone's Democrat. They hate him in New York and they don't even recognize the absurdity of that concept. No, look, the bottom line is you probably have some supporters. It's probably what it always was. Slightly higher, I doubt it. Probably slightly lower because I don't think people love convicted felons. I think you've alienated more people.
Starting point is 01:06:21 But the fact that you couldn't even in your selection of a jury, the bottom line is, I'm sure there were jurors who may even been leaning towards Donald Trump when they were selected as a, even if I disagree with that and I'm shocked by that, but then they sat there, they heard the evidence, they deliberated, and all of the evidence says, you know what? This person is very, very guilty. We're going to do our jobs the same way when Steve Bannon went to trial. A jury found him guilty of contempt of Congress. And Steve Bannon's been trying to delay, delay, delay his sentencing, or he was sentenced. He was actually going to prison.
Starting point is 01:06:58 He was sentenced a while ago to four months. He's appealed it. He's done every Trumpian delay tactic. But now it's finally happened where the judge, a judge appointed by Donald Trump, federal judge Nichols, says, no, I'm revoking your bond now. You've lost your appeals. July 1st is when you are going to prison. We will see you in prison on July 1st. And now those four months mean that during the key campaign time when Bannon wants to work the most possible mischief, he's not going to be there. It just shows you there's not forethought. Everything they do tends to backfire like this. I do want to show you this
Starting point is 01:07:40 clip right here, play you this clip right here. We talked about in the last Midas Touch podcast how the, I think it's pronounced Epoch Times or some people corrected my epic pronunciation. So I'll say Epoch Times. This was a cult from China that was masquerading as a right-wing media platform that would push out all the MAGA content. $67 million money laundering scheme, as alleged by the feds in a very detailed indictment. Bannon's main funder is Miles Guo, who was criminally indicted for a billion-dollar fraud. When Bannon was originally arrested on the We Build the Wall scam, he was on Miles Guo's yacht. And Bannon spoke in front of Miles Guo's crew in October of 2020, leading to the 2020 election. And there, Bannon just basically said it.
Starting point is 01:08:40 Bannon said, look, what we are going to do here, no matter what the results are of November 2020, is we're going to declare a victory. Even if Trump is down 10 points, Trump's going to claim he won. So now Miles Guo, who's indicted, this is Miles Guo's property where Bannon was saying this to Guo's crew, laying out the plan. You hear it in Bannon's own words. We're going to lie to the people and do a coup. Listen to what Bannon said in October of 2020. And what Trump's going to do is declare victory, right? He's going to declare victory. But that doesn't mean he's a winner. He's just going to say he's a winner. The Democrats, more of our people vote early than count. Theirs voted mail. And so they're going to have a natural disadvantage
Starting point is 01:09:25 and Trump's going to take advantage of it. That's our strategy. He's going to declare himself a winner. So when you wake up Wednesday morning, it's going to be a firestorm. Also, if Trump is losing by 10 or 11 o'clock at night, it's going to be even crazier.
Starting point is 01:09:42 You know what I'm saying? No, because he's going to sit right there and say they stole it. If Biden's winning, Trump is going to be even crazier. No, because he's going to sit right there and say they stole it. If Biden's winning, Trump is going to do some crazy shit. He says that in his own words there, what their plan was, that's why he didn't want to testify before the January 6th committee, because they were going to ask him questions like that. And it probably would have led to incrimination. He could have invoked his fifth. He didn't do that. And now he's just a MAGA whiner. Speaking about a MAGA whiner on the judiciary, just different iterations
Starting point is 01:10:13 of it. You have federal judge Eileen Cannon. As I've always said, her incompetence is matched by her corruption, or I would say now her corruption far exceeds the incompetence. But she knows she wants to delay this, which she has. She knows she wants to help Donald Trump, which she did. As a federal judge, she has almost unfettered discretion when it comes to scheduling. That's why she issues paperless orders because they're not appealable. There has to be a final order. And she hasn't really issued any final orders that are with prejudice. And you can say, well, why isn't Jack Smith go to the 11th Circuit? Because our system, unfortunately, is based on norms and practices that prevent that from
Starting point is 01:10:59 happening. Jack Smith can't go to the 11th Circuit until there's a final order. If he does, he will lose, and it will be used against the case, and Jack Smith will never be able to go to the 11th Circuit again. That's why Cannon never makes an order with prejudice. She never makes a final order. And you can say, look, she's getting the better of Jack Smith, but that's like saying an umpire gets the better of the batter.
Starting point is 01:11:24 At the end of the day, the batter doesn't call their strikes or balls, the umpire does. And so here, our system with lifetime appointments of federal judges allows judges to engage in this behavior. This is not the way the system's supposed to work, but what Judge Eileen Cannon is now doing is she's now invited several non-parties to participate in oral argument during a hearing set to take place later this month on Trump's motion to dismiss the classified document case based on the unlawful appointment and unlawful appropriations of special counsel Jack Smith. This shouldn't require a hearing at all, yet alone inviting random people into the courtroom who aren't parties
Starting point is 01:12:06 to make oral argument. That's beyond strange and bizarre. That's what Judge Cannon's doing. She's also made numerous scheduling changes where she's going to have this be argued on June 21st, June 24th, June 24th, June 25th, over and over again, where she's going to entertain this ridiculousness over and over again. Again, there's no precedent at all for what she's doing. She's quite literally making this stuff up. Once there's a final order, Jack Smith will go to the 11th Circuit, and she knows that she will be overturned and reversed and likely removed. Jack Smith, though, is saying, look, if I go prematurely, I'm going to lose, and then it's going to actually stop me from getting her removed when she finally makes the final order. And so there's really nothing he can do there. I'd love to say there's something he can
Starting point is 01:13:01 do. Next, I want to quickly talk about, though, the Georgia Court of Appeals. They've blocked or they've permanently stayed the Trump criminal trial until they rule on the disqualification motion regarding Foney Willis, which the judge rejected, which Judge Scott McAfee rejected. So if you want to see what actual lawfare is, the way our system is supposed to work is there's a speedy trial. You go in front of a jury. The jury deliberates. The jury makes a decision. On the other hand, you've got Republicans, MAGA Republicans, Trump appointees blocking the system from actually working so that a jury of Trump's peers can actually hear the cases. That's what's taking
Starting point is 01:13:45 place there. I do want to touch upon two other issues quickly, but importantly, how the MAGA Republicans block the Right to Contraception Act that was introduced by Democrats. The Republicans have blocked it from getting to the next phase. The Republicans want to gaslight us all and say, oh, we're not trying to ban contraception. So Democrats said, okay, well, then show us that. Let's pass a law. Here's the bill. Let's turn it into a law that says that all Americans, and especially women, have the right to contraception. MAGA Republicans said, no, we're not voting against that. We're not voting for that. They vote against that. Also, I want to mention President Biden issued an executive order on immigration. The order will go into effect when the number of border encounters between
Starting point is 01:14:34 ports of entry hits 2,500 per day. According to senior administration officials, President Biden said, look, I wanted to do this on a bipartisan basis. We let the Republican James Lankford from Oklahoma negotiate this. And he's the most conservative on the issue of immigration. He let it, this was a bill he wanted to pass, but then Donald Trump said, kill it so that there could be harm caused to the American people. And then utilize the media disinformation to confuse the issues and then blame Biden rather than actually passing legislation. So look, I know we've talked about a lot here on this episode and packed a lot into an hour and 15 minutes or so. And I'm sure we could probably have this go on for hours and hours and hours. That's what the hot takes are for. But I do want to give a
