Surprise, surprise. Donald Trump did not testify at his criminal trial as expected. Next Tuesday will be summations. And in the Trump criminal case, the jury will start deliberations on Tuesday. That means as early as next Tuesday, we could get a verdict in the Trump criminal case. I know that corporate media is not necessarily covering that, by the way. Their coverage has been an absolute disaster thus far. But I think by the end of next week, we will be in an entirely different place as a country, as a verdict will be taking place in the Trump criminal trial.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Meanwhile, Donald Trump has been posting that President Biden tried to kill him in connection with the search warrant that was executed at Mar-a-Lago back in August of 2022. As part of the discovery that was turned over in the Mar-a-Lago document case before Judge Eileen Cannon and a filing made by Donald Trump in connection with a frivolous motion to take confidential documents and put them on the public record so Judge Eileen Cannon could unseal them. They just have the standard FBI and Department of Justice use of deadly force policy that exists in connection with every single search warrant that is ever executed in the United States. But don't let the truth get in the way of a MAGA conspiracy. They are out there saying that President Biden tried to kill Donald Trump. Meanwhile,
Starting point is 00:03:11 when the FBI searched President Biden's home, guess what? It's the same use of deadly force protocol because it exists in every single search that they do. Going back to the world of normalcy and what politics should be about, President Biden celebrating the confirmation of the 200th federal judge since he's been in office. That is at a record-setting pace. And with all of the horrible judges that Trump appointed and were confirmed, to have judges that stand for law and order is just so important. Also, President Biden celebrating the one millionth PACT Act claim being approved. President Biden extended health care to our veterans.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Remember when the MAGA Republicans were trying to block it and Ted Cruz was fist bumping people when they tried to block it, but President Biden and Democrats and other pro-democracy members pushed it through? One million claims have been approved thus far in terms of real world impact. Think about things like that. Think about the fact that there are 40,000 plus infrastructure projects that are taking place across the country thanks to President Biden's infrastructure deal and thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, like actually getting things done. Whereas in the Congress today, you have MAGA Republicans enforcing rules that you are not allowed to say mean things about Donald Trump. Democratic Congress member Jim McGovern
Starting point is 00:04:56 simply stated facts that Donald Trump was on a criminal trial for making payments, hush money payments, to which other MAGA Republicans jumped in, take down his words, remove his words. We can't criticize Donald Trump. And they struck his words from the record. They removed it, enforcing a rule that you can't be mean to Donald Trump. And of course, this follows the MAGA Republicans, or as they're now known, the Red Tie Brigade that get their outfits from Dictators R Us, who Donald Trump dresses up in long red ties or ties that have Donald Trump's faces on them. They go to the trial and they attack the judge's daughter. And they also release penis balloons. I'm not joking.
Starting point is 00:05:46 The MAGA Republicans thought it would be a good idea, and this is who they are, to release balloons that have the judge's face and the prosecutor's face on these phallic balloons, and they would have them hit the courthouse. That's what it means to be a Republican or a MAGA Republican in 2024. Also, Justice Alito, it's been uncovered by the New York Times, had another right-wing extremist flag, a, quote, appeal to heaven flag at his New Jersey beach house. He was previously found to have had an inverted American flag at his D.C. residence, which was another insurrectionist symbol. He then blamed that on his wife. Now he's been discovered to have this appeal to heaven flag, another right-wing extremist symbol that was there during the insurrection. Folks, this is who they are.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Believe them. I'm Ben Micellis from the Midas Touch podcast, joined by my brothers Brett and Jordy. We have a lot to discuss, including what went down on that last day of Trump's criminal trial. Our last show was Monday before Robert Costello, that final Trump witness. Let's just say it didn't do well. It just kept getting worse and worse. As I was going, I was just like, why? Why on earth would they put this guy on the stand and Robert Costello? And I think we know the reason the
Starting point is 00:07:21 reporting is that Donald Trump urged his attorneys to do so. And, you know, it's why you never you should never listen to your client in those situations, because what a wreck. Every time you do these intros, it's such whiplash all the time. It's like Donald Trump played QAnon music and President released penis balloons through his supporters at the courthouse while President Biden got the one millionth Pact Act health care claim approved for our veterans. And then it's like, oh, the polls are very tight. People just can't decide between these two. Like, come on, people. What are we doing here? Anyway, Ben, first week as a married man. How are you feeling? How's it going? Oh, it's going great.
Starting point is 00:08:09 It's actually been an incredible week. We took a small little mini moon to Palm Springs where I ran into a lot of Midas Mighty there. That is awesome. Sochi and I are planning a bigger trip sometime in the summer. Obviously, I expect that there's going to be a verdict next week, and I have to be here for the verdict. Yeah, no, very understandable. Or like me, you could go away when key moments happen in society, when key moments happen
Starting point is 00:08:40 in the things that we cover. Jordy, what's new on your end, man? I'm doing great. I'm excited to get into the show today. Yeah. And to Brett, your point exactly. Every time Ben does these intros, I mean, it honestly sounds like we're playing some sort of like MAGA Mad Libs at times because it's just so insane. And like, you know, if you asked us five, seven years ago, like, okay, like, is this made up? Like, are we like, are these just like random words that we're throwing, you know, about Trump penis balloons? No, no, okay, like, is this made up? Like, are we like, are these just like random words that we're throwing, you know, about Trump penis balloons? No, no, unfortunately not. Like,
Starting point is 00:09:09 this is just the world that we live in now. And so I'm excited to get into the show. We'll get in to all of this stuff. But Ben, I like that ring on your finger, man. That's looking pretty sharp. Let's go. Look at that. Legit. Let's go. You know, just like one of the things too, to point out, like from the, from the balloons to Donald Trump posted this big banner of Trump's mugshot at Yankee stadium, and then had all these right wing people then posted, look, he's got massive support at Yankee stadium. Look at all the Yankee fans right there. And as you actually look deeper into what this is, my first initial reaction to all of this is because you know it's a stunt. You know that Donald Trump isn't drawing the crowd sizes that he wants, so he's got to lie
Starting point is 00:09:57 about him. So they put up the Trump banner, and I'm thinking, Yankee fans holding up this sign. So then if you zoom in, though, first off, it's happening during the Pledge of Allegiance itself. So like, that's when they think, I mean, during the playing of the national anthem, rather. So while the national anthem is being played, that's when they put the Trump never surrender photo, which is quite literally of him surrendering for his mugshot in Fulton County. And then if you actually look at it, it's actually one person who's holding up at the sign. The other one is actually tied to a chair. So it's not Yankee fans. It is one individual who is holding it up. Then Clay Travis, the kind of right-wing propagandist who masquerades as a sports reporter, goes, fans at Yankee Stadium just unveiled the huge Trump mugshot banner with the Never Surrender on it. Then you just take a deeper look here about what's really going on. And it's someone named Dion Sinney. He's this person who runs like Magaswag.com. He pays people $5,000 to show up at different locations with these banners that he sells.
Starting point is 00:11:11 And he posts another successful Operation Flag Drop Trump mugshot at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Great job, America First Warehouse. Laura Loomer, the right-wing extremist who's close to Donald Trump's like, great job, Dion Cini. My friends, Dion Cini and American First just dropped a never surrender Trump mugshot flag at Yankee Stadium in New York the night before Trump's rally in the Bronx. And so you just look at this always.
Starting point is 00:11:43 These are always ops meant to project strength. And as I've said before, Trump's campaign is running on one thing, the strong man, the weak man paradigm. And to try to show strong man, what Trump just relies on is polls, and Trump tries to rely on big crowd sizes. So ignore any polls that show President Biden up. Talk about big crowd sizes. Because when Trump actually has to talk, you see how weak he is. He can't even put together coherent thoughts and sentences.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Like he truly struggles. Everything they tried to say President Biden does and is, is pure projection when you really see that. Like, I'm not making this up. Trump struggles to actually say sentences. Trump struggles to stay awake at his own criminal trial, like falling asleep during the trial itself. We'll go through some-
Starting point is 00:12:41 It was just deep in prayer, Ben. Just deep in prayer. And I can tell you from, so we're new yorkers we grew up on long island you know i've been to that stadium before yankee stadium the fans they don't they don't like that like like when that happens y'all just get booed relentlessly so the fact that these magga republicans think that this is some sort of win i also find it very telling that they keep dropping and showing the same photos and different photos and not videos of this moment. Because I could tell you firsthand, I know the Yankee crowd and I know that they just
Starting point is 00:13:10 want to watch football. And when you bring politics into that sort of arena, they're going to reject it. What'd you say? You said watch football. I think you meant watch baseball. Jordy with the sports flub. Look at that. Brett with the Daniel Dale correction.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Gotta love it. Jordy with the sports flub. Well, let me say this about this also. But you know exactly what I'm talking about. The Yankee fans, they don't, I mean, just like sports fans in general, when you're going to bring in like that over. They wouldn't like it if somebody put a Biden thing either. Sure.
Starting point is 00:13:35 But here's the thing. Two things. One, they do it during the national anthem, which is also like as disrespectful as it gets. And it's also a moment where people's attention is diverted somewhere else. And these are the same people, and Ben could attest to this more than just about anybody on this planet, who went after Colin Kaepernick relentlessly for peacefully taking a knee to protest racial injustice. And these are the people now interrupting, think about it, interrupting
Starting point is 00:14:05 the national anthem to roll out a picture of a mugshot of Donald Trump. The same people who are subverting the national anthem with this January 6th anthem to open up their events. These are the people who call themselves patriots. It is so obscene. And the second part about all this as well is that when you have, like Jordi said, when you have these banners out there, all you're doing ultimately is pissing people off. You're just driving people away ultimately, and you're trying to build this kind of faux sense of support. And the thing that I've noticed is that all of these stunts, they're not like random people, right? They're not random supporters. Oh, look, this random guy
Starting point is 00:14:49 did this thing. They're all people kind of intricately tied to Donald Trump and to these various MAGA influencers. You could probably pull them all together, like all these people on Twitter. There's not a ton of them. There are enough of them to make noise, but like Laura Loomer is one of them, right? Like you see this connection and this network of these people who do the same things. And like the other one Ben was talking about after court the other day, there was the guy who released these balloons. There was somebody who released penis balloons. This is MAGA for you folks. He released penis balloons that had images of the judge on them, images of Alvin Bragg on them. I'm not making this up. I'll show you a quick video of it just so you know, I am not making this up. I love it. Flying pigs out of all the courthouse. Look at this.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Oh, I love it. I love it. Oh my God. Perfect timing. oh my god perfect timing oh shit okay whose face is over somebody's face oh it's alvin brock's face on the balloons and when you look into who like who did that stunt right was it some random trump supporter out there who could have possibly put the penis balloons up in the air? You look into it and it is this so-called artist, this guy, Scott Labaito, who then this is somebody here who says, DA Alvin Bragg, special counsel, Jack Smith, judge Juan Mershon and judge Arthur Angoron just had their faces displayed on penis shaped balloons that were released from a truck in NYC. It was a display by patriotic artist Scott Labaito or Labaito or something. And so you look at that and you go, okay, who's this guy?
Starting point is 00:16:31 This is one of Donald Trump's friends. Here he is right here next to Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. And so time after time after time, you see everything is a scam. Everything is a stunt. All these people are tied directly back to Donald Trump and people in his orbit. And it's the same thing in every single city. It's all a lie. It's all to build this fake sense of support. I think that guy, Dion Sinney, who does the Trump banners in public spaces, I think his voice is on the balloon video as well. But why don't we hear from him in his own words of what he is looking, why he supports Donald Trump. I think we have this video of a statement that he's made about what he's looking for Donald Trump to do in our country. Let's play this. Which is this one? I'm not sure if I have
Starting point is 00:17:18 this one. Dion saying that the constitution no longer works and would like Donald Trump as a king. Oh, oh yeah. Let me, Let me find that one. Give me one sec. While Brett pulls that up, I just find it so, what a coincidence that Dion Cini was in the vicinity to film the penis balloons as they went up. Like all of this is so orchestrated and planned and it's just so pathetic. Like that, if you're listening, I really need you to go to youtube.com slash Midas Touch, the Midas Touch YouTube channel and watch the poorly executed plan of the releasing of the penis balloons because there was no or very little thought put into what would happen once they- They just went up into the sky. Here's Dion talking about why he likes
Starting point is 00:17:55 Trump. The constitution no longer applies to Americans when it comes to the first amendment, second amendment, third amendment, all the amendments, all the above. I figure, well, if the constitution isn't being upheld, maybe we just need one good person to come in and fix everything. And, you know, I think Trump would make a great king. Excellent. And his children and their children's children. I think he raises their children perfectly. So, yeah, I would love tonews.tv. They do great work capturing a lot of these moments right there. And feel free to support their work. But when you hear people say things like that and Trump supporters say things like that, that's what they are looking for. That's why when Trump says, I want to be dictator on day one, that's what his base is actually looking for and why we have to take it very
Starting point is 00:18:45 seriously. I want to talk about what happened at trial, Brett. Did you want to make any more comments about that? No, not really. I mean, I just want to kind of say, and we'll see this throughout, you know, I think this episode, as we show more stuff from the Bronx and whatnot, and go through kind of other good news as well later on, that one of the big kind of Trump and MAGA strategies is ultimately to wear people down, like, and even their own supporters, like they want to make you feel like crap. They want to make their supporters feel like crap, right? They want everyone to feel like crap. So everybody ultimately just feels hopeless and goes, okay, I guess I need a
Starting point is 00:19:18 dictator to solve all my problems. This, this ain't working out. And so even when there's great economic news, right? Even when people are getting raises, even when wages are rising at their fastest paces, even when things are going pretty well and people are out and having good times and whatnot, they always need to make you feel miserable. It's always the worst. That's why every week there is something new, right? Or even like every day, right? It's they're trying to assassinate you and it's World War III and they're coming for your stoves and they're coming for your washing machines and the stock market's about to crash and there's a run on the banks. And it's just lie after lie after lie after lie designed to tear you down and to tear their own supporters down. So ultimately you're like that
Starting point is 00:20:00 guy we just watched who goes, okay, well, this isn't working for me. I guess I need a king now. That's the whole plan. Well, look, they've successfully torn down the fourth estate and the corporate media. And after saying fake news, fake news, fake news, fake news, the corporate media just now amplifies whatever the messaging is from Donald Trump, by and large. There's some good reporting out there, but by and large, they will amplify Donald Trump's propaganda. What Donald Trump is focused on tearing down, tore down the Republican Party, tore down the media. Now it's the judiciary, right? That's why you call the MAGA Republicans, the red tie brigades, the people wearing the Trump faces on their ties. They show up and what do
Starting point is 00:20:46 they do? They attack the judge. They attack the judge's family. They attack the judge's daughter. You know, I spoke with Democratic Congress member Dan Goldman, a longtime federal prosecutor before becoming a Congress member. And I said, tell me about how many times you saw a criminal defendant during a trial attack the judge, attack the judge's daughter, talk about and attack happen, the person would get thrown into jail immediately. Wouldn't even be a question. It wouldn't be hearings being held in contempt 10 times would be thrown into jail immediately. Now Donald Trump gives the middle finger. I'm not sure why I actually gave the middle finger. He gave us the middle finger to our people know what that means. What did I do? Married man now, do that now. Get him bolder. I'm getting bolder.
Starting point is 00:21:58 That Donald Trump is now attacking the judiciary. Let's talk about though briefly what went down at the criminal trial on Tuesday before there was a break. And now there's a break until next Tuesday when summations will take place. So when you watch the last episode of the Midas Touch podcast, you had this guy, Robert Costello, show up for direct testimony. And then when objections were being sustained because the questions were bad on irrelevant topics, you then oriented, 21 hours on the stand. Within about 10 minutes on the stand, Robert Costello, this witness for the defense and the last witness that was called, acted in a contemptuous way such that the judge, Justice Mershon, had to clear out the courtroom within like a 10-minute period.
Starting point is 00:23:08 And the one thing that Costello basically said on direct testimony before cross-examination is that his focus was to help Michael Cohen, and he never had Donald Trump's interest or Giuliani's interest at his heart. Now, for those who know Robert Costello, he's a MAGA lawyer who wormed his way into Michael Cohen's world in 2018 to help Donald Trump and to help Giuliani silence Michael Cohen and shut Michael Cohen down and to stop Michael Cohen from cooperating with the feds and from other prosecutors and to serve as a back channel. So Costello has all of these emails that basically say that he's doing that, that Cohen's an a-hole and we've got to shut Cohen down. We've got to
Starting point is 00:23:59 silence him for Trump and Giuliani. And it basically shows in all of these messages that he's working for Trump and Giuliani. And then during the communications that he has with Cohen, he speaks like a mafia intermediary. Well, you have friends in high places, Cohen. If you need me to deliver friends to the boss in high places, let me know you are protected as long as you don't do things that the boss doesn't want. These are in emails. So why in the world would you call this guy? He's the perfect way for the prosecution to end the case on, frankly, after Cohen. Because if for whatever reason, there was any doubt at all, right? Reasonable doubt is the standard after Cohen. The fact that Trump sent a mafioso intermediary type person to silence Michael Cohen, who
Starting point is 00:24:55 used mob talk to shut him down. And then when he took the stand, he said that his interest was Cohen. And then when the prosecution does the cross-exam, they're showing emails to Costello, remember when you said that your interest was just Michael Cohen and that you did not care? Remember that? And then Costello would say, yeah. Well, let me show you this email. And it's like Costello saying, Cohen's an a-hole. We need to shut him down. He's going rogue. We need to make sure down. He's going rogue. We need to make sure we help Trump and Giuliani. Yeah. We need to make sure this doesn't get
Starting point is 00:25:29 back to the boss, that no one knows the boss is involved in this. It was like the prosecution could not have asked for more. It was like, you remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles growing up and like Shredder and then Shredder had like the two,. I remember shredder had like the two characters that looked like, I don't know what they looked like. They were like, almost looked like boars. You're another characters I'm talking about. It looked like these like human boars.
Starting point is 00:25:54 I don't know how to describe it other than that. Why am I mentioning that? Cause they would be like, Hey shredder, could we do this? Ha ha ha ha. We got to silence him. Like the emails were like were comically written almost
Starting point is 00:26:07 for children. And that's how this Robert Costello talk. And then Costello would have to say things like, well, I guess the email speaks for itself. And Costello was previously saying during some of the cross-examination when he was being snarky with Susan Hoffinger, the prosecutor, I guess it speaks for itself. So then she turned it back on him and she was like, guess it speaks for itself, huh? Guess they speak for themselves, huh? And he was like, I guess so. And I heard the jury was like, for the first time, like laughing and cracking up in this guy's face. So that's actually what a cross-exam is supposed to look like. And then they ended on that witness. So what do I
Starting point is 00:26:50 think is going to happen? Look, I think by next Friday, we're going to have a verdict. If we don't have a verdict by next Friday, I think the jury's probably hung if we don't hear by next Friday. There is, in my mind, almost 0% chance of an acquittal. I don't think the jury acquits. You never say never, but I would say under a 5% chance of acquittal. I don't think acquittal is going to happen. So I think Trump's either going to be found guilty or there's that one rogue person who leads this to being a hung jury, I think Trump's going to be found guilty. The evidence is overwhelming. The evidence is overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I want to talk about the evidence just in a little bit more detail, but there's beyond a reasonable doubt. There's beyond, to me, any shred or scintilla of doubt, even a higher standard. It's overwhelming. But you never know what a jury's going to do. You never know if there's a rogue juror or two that are going to result in a hung jury. I don't think so. But I think that's what I'm looking to see next week. I want to talk about the evidence briefly. I want to talk about what Alina Haba is saying. I want to talk about what Trump is saying, why he didn't testify. It was barely even a coherent sentence. We'll talk about that and more, but let's take our first quick break of the show. Did you know that traditional bed sheets can

Use the discount code. They're wonderful stuff there. I want to talk about the evidence in this Trump criminal trial and the overwhelming evidence that's here. Let's not forget that Donald Trump did make the payments to Michael Cohen
Starting point is 00:31:38 that when you add up all the $35,000 checks, it's the $130,000 payment grossed up to Michael Cohen, plus that Red Finch payment that was to be made to Michael Cohen. And then it was falsified as a legal expense when it was a reimbursement. You can't falsify reimbursements as legal expenses. That is just very clearly unlawful. And during the opening statement, what did Donald Trump's lawyers say? Donald Trump's lawyers said that these payments were legitimate legal expenses for legitimate services rendered by Michael Cohen. Now, I didn't hear a scintilla of evidence. They maybe went there towards the end of the cross-examination of Cohen, but there was nothing on what those other services would be. There was nothing introduced introduced that this money was for anything other than a reimbursement to Michael Cohen for the payments that he made on Donald Trump's behalf.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Can I talk to you for a second about this? Just because this was the thing that was most baffling to me. Because what you're talking about right now is the heart of the case, the actual, the facts, the documents, the payments. And I feel like looking at Blanche, looking at Donald Trump's entire legal team, I feel like they like didn't even touch on the facts of the case, like throughout their entire art. Like it seemed like they were just trying to attack the credibility of the witnesses rather than even attacking the facts, which was just so weird to me that you wouldn't bring that up and try to rebut that Trump was partly, you know, like did you get the same
Starting point is 00:33:25 kind of vibe when you were listening to this? Like, you know, I would have done the cross examination and it's too late for them to do it now. So I'm not giving them any advice. And if they were to take my advice and what I'm doing now, they would look absolutely ridiculous. It's too late for this. I would have started if I was trying to cast doubt on my cross-examination, I would have went through all of the legal services Cohen performed throughout all of the years. And I would have went through each and every one of them, showed that there's some regular pattern of payment that's made to Michael Cohen. And sometimes maybe payments aren't made on time and then they're made late. And so how do you really differentiate
Starting point is 00:34:05 this payment for that payment? I would have been very surgical and I would have focused on that. Instead, what Trump's lawyers did was they played for the media. And by the way, they probably did a pretty good job in front of the media, right? In terms of in 21 hours of Michael Cohen being on the stand, there was one moment where Donald Trump's lawyer went to Michael Cohen, you lie, you lie, because Michael Cohen testified on direct examination that an October 24th, 2016 phone call was with Donald Trump where he quickly told Donald Trump using Keith Schiller's phone, hey, I've got this Stormy Daniels thing all figured out. And then there were text messages that were made around that time period that showed that Keith Schiller and Cohen were talking about a 14-year-old kid who was harassing the campaign. And there was a text message or two about that. And then on cross examination, Cohen said he was unflappable. He wasn't like, oh my God, whatever. He was like, no, I mean, I'm sure what we did was like all calls. We talked about Stormy. I definitely
Starting point is 00:35:14 remember talking to Donald Trump on that call. We may have talked about another topic also with Keith Schiller, but we probably talked about two topics. By the way, it's not like this is like the one phone call and it all was this. There were multiple phone calls. And by the way, we know that Trump did the thing, right? Like we know how the story ends. Donald Trump writes checks to Michael Cohen. So if it didn't happen on that phone call, it happened on another phone call, unless you want me to believe that some bookkeeper just showed up to Donald Trump and was like, hey, can you just sign these checks? And Trump was like, okay. And or he's like, what are they for? Donald Trump, who famously loves paying random people money. What was this for? A porn star who I never had sex? Okay, I'll write the check for that. We know Trump made the payments. So the only defense that exists is not all of this is made up. Trump made the payments. You have to argue if you were going
Starting point is 00:36:21 to argue anything that it was a legitimate business expense or that Trump was somehow misled by someone in his organization to do it this way and Trump thought he was doing it the right way. But their whole defense was that Stormy's a liar, Cohen's a liar, no one's telling the truth, it's all false. None of this really happened. And that's just such a ridiculous, that's such a ridiculous thing. Now, let me show you what Alina Haba is saying though, because you know, things are really confident in Trump's camp when Alina Haba goes to the right wing media. And he or she says that Justice Merchan, if he wants to have any credibility, here's what he needs to do.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Here, play this clip. So it's time to wrap this case up, throw it out. If this judge wants any credibility back, that's what he should do. There should have been a directed verdict. There should have been a mistrial. Famous expert on credibility, Alina Haba, folks. All this judge needs to do at this stage, all that's left is to throw out the case. I mean, it's just so embarrassing. Again, this is how though I think Trump wears down and destroys our legal system, intentionally weaponizing idiots like Alina Haba. And you put Alina Haba out there to talk about law and from like real lawyers, like it's discouraging to, it's like, all right, this is, this person is being platformed. Like this person's a moron.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Like I have the same job as this individual. It's like, it's like when you look at Congress, I always feel bad during those hearings. Like last week when that hearing went off the rails, when MTG was saying those crazy things to Jasmine Crockettckett and crockett clap back and you saw um jamie raskin just standing there like you know hands on his head face palming while marjorie taylor green was speaking and at so many times i have to imagine like constitutional scholar jamie raskin has to be like i cannot believe i have the same job as marjorie taylor green like it's not it's not it's not good for the brand. I'll tell you that. I mean, Ben, like Habba's a lawyer, you're a lawyer.
Starting point is 00:38:29 You guys are basically done. That's what do you, what do you say? What does that say about your profession? It's like Ben had to become a YouTuber. I had to go to YouTube to preserve my credibility. That's what it's become down to youtuber more credible now than attorney yeah that's why people are like ben you should run for congress you should run for the senate i'm like do you think i'd ever want marjorie taylor green and lauren bobert as my car so i could go put it this way i could go from working with brett and jordy my brothers who I love, Michael Popock, Karen Friedman-Agnifolo, Dina Dahl, the rest of the Midas Touch crew.
Starting point is 00:39:10 I could go from working for them and enjoying my life every day and working with great people. Or I could have Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, James Comer, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz as my colleagues. I think I'm just going to, I'm going to stick with what I'm doing right now. I'm going to stick in my living room for now. Okay. Speaking of which, not speaking of which at all, because Donald Trump can't even speak. Donald Trump is asked a question right here from New York's WABC. And he's asked a question. This is a right wing kind of propaganda radio show.
Starting point is 00:39:51 And they ask him, they say, so you said you were going to testify. So why did you decide to ultimately not testify? I want you to listen to Donald Trump's response here. And I want you to try to make sense of this and see if you could even comprehend what words he's even saying. Here, play this clip. Mr. President, you know, in the New York City trial, your defense rested its case without you taking the stand. You know, you said you would absolutely testify. Why did you decide ultimately not to take the stand? Was that a hard decision for you? Yeah, because he made rulings that makes it
Starting point is 00:40:26 very difficult to testify. Anything I did, anything I did in the past, they can bring everything up. And you know what? I've had a great past, but anything. But the other thing is, and the main reason, and I don't even mind that. In fact, I like talking about it because we had rigged cases. New York is out of control and they can solve it with a good appellate. You know, we won in the Angoran case. He doesn't know anything about what he's doing and he's totally corrupt. That's a different case. We had that overturned. We had decisions overturned five times. I think it's a record. Okay. You did not win the Justice N'Goron case. Let's be very clear. And it's also just a bunch of gibberish. If you actually, Brent, I love when we look at the actual transcripts of what he says, because it's actually just a bunch of gibberish words put together. Yeah, because he made rulings that makes it very difficult to testify. Anything I did, anything I did in the past, they could bring everything up then. You know what? I've had a great past, but anything. But the other thing is, and the main reason,
Starting point is 00:41:39 and I don't even mind that in fact, I like talking about it because we had a rigged case we have rigged cases new york is out of control and they could solve it with a good appellate okay there's not even by the way at his traveling fascist circus events that he calls rallies this is this is what it's like this is why donald trump is not going to debate because he can put words together. The Trump MAGA world lower the expectations to make it sound like this is how President Biden talks. And President Biden is fine. President Biden's not going to talk as quickly as he did 20 years ago or even 10, 15 years ago. But President Biden's going to hit the points. He'll talk about democracy.
Starting point is 00:42:27 He'll talk about American values. He'll talk about supporting our allies. Donald Trump can't talk. When he does talk, he usually will be echoing things that like Hitler says, or he'll be talking about taking away women's reproductive rights. You could almost ask Donald Trump any question at all, and he will answer it in the most ridiculous way imaginable. You can ask Donald Trump, and no one's ever gone down this route, but if you were to ask Donald Trump, I think a very basic question of, do you believe that name the dictator has good qualities?
Starting point is 00:43:07 Donald Trump would not just give you a straight answer. He would basically say, well, many people very powerfully say, and I mean, and everything then, and you know, the cases are rigged and I mean everything. I mean, very powerfully. I mean, we need to talk about America and you know, I mean, he, he won't just, he can't just even answer the question. And no one has ever gone that route with him. But it would be interesting to see if a reporter just asks him outlandish questions because he won't be able to even answer those. I mean but look, here's Donald Trump on a local Pittsburgh TV station, Geordie. Shout out to Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:43:43 And this is one of the most popular – the most popular local Pittsburgh TV station, Geordie. Shout out to Pittsburgh. And you know, this is one of the most popular, the most popular local Pittsburgh TV station. John Delano, KDKA. Trump's asked a very basic question. He's asked a very basic question about whether or not he would support restrictions on contraception. And the answer should be a very easy, no, I would not support any restrictions on contraception. I absolutely don't. Here's how Donald Trump responds to that question. Let's play the clip.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Related to this is the whole issue of contraceptives. Do you support any restrictions on a person's right to contraception? Well, we're looking at that, and I'm going to have a policy on that very shortly. And I think it's something that you'll find interesting. And it's another issue that's very interesting. But you will find it, I think, very smart. I think it's a smart decision. But we'll be releasing it very soon.
Starting point is 00:44:38 That suggests that you may want to support some restrictions, like the morning after pill or something? We are also, you know, things really do have a lot to do with the states. And some states are going to have different policies than others. Can I tell you one thing? And I'm being 100% serious here. I don't think he knows what the word restrictions means. And I think it actually confuses him about whether you support a restriction or don't support a restriction in terms of what that actually means. By the way, I'm not trying to let him off. I think he wants to take away women's reproductive rights. I think he does want to control access to contraception.
Starting point is 00:45:24 I think he does not know what the word restrictions means as well. And so all of that in his mind is racing and he's not comprehending the question about, so do I support a restriction? If I support a restriction, does that mean I support it or I support stopping it? Or what does that mean? And I don't think he's able to process the question. Let me be clear. I think he wants to restrict access to contraception. He's taken away women's reproductive rights, but he can only speak in soundbites. So for him, the policy of just saying states, states, states, you could then ask him, so
Starting point is 00:46:02 do you think it's okay if a state implements a policy and go make it the most outrageous policy to have the death penalty for any woman who seeks custody? He will say states' rights if you ask him because he doesn't even listen to the question. He's just, no, states, states. I support what the states say. Again, this is why he's not going to debate. Meanwhile, in Louisiana, the legislature right there voted to make abortion pills a controlled, dangerous substance under a first-of-its-kind measure. When Trump's saying states, that's what they're doing. States monitoring pregnancies, states making the abortion pill, controlled substances with hefty, rarest of circumstances as provided by that bill.
Starting point is 00:47:09 So it's effectively completely banned, criminalized. And if you're caught with one of these pills like Mifepristone, you could go to jail. You will go to jail. You will go to jail. And not like you could go to jail for many years, many years. They are going to be locking up doctors. They're going to be locking up doctors. They're going to be locking up women. And in addition to that, the bill also creates a registry on which every single person
Starting point is 00:47:31 who is prescribed this medication, so the very few people who are prescribed the abortion medication, they are listed in a state registry. So they are monitoring pregnancies in the state via this bill. This is not small government by any measure. And so anytime Donald Trump goes out there and he goes, everyone loves what I did with Roe. Everyone loves it. It's great. It's all working out swell. It's all going great. Everybody loves it. This is the results of leaving it to the states. And like we always say, if you really want to bring it back to as locally as possible with an issue like this, bring it back to the individual. This is an individual's rights and individual's freedom. I wouldn't even want... You could say,
Starting point is 00:48:12 but the states have a better sense of what the people want. Walk outside your door. If you had a pregnancy and you needed to get an abortion for whatever reason, would you want it to be decided by a show of hands from your neighbors on your block? This is just an extension of that. And so why the hell should anybody else be involved in your decision-making process when it comes to something so personal? And that is exactly what Donald Trump wants to do. And that is what Donald Trump admits that he does every time he gets on stage when he brags about ending Roe and pretends like everybody is just great about it. It is leading to women being locked up.
Starting point is 00:48:50 It is leading to doctors being locked up and put on registries. This is a direct result of that and all these Republican policies. Donald Trump is speaking in the Bronx today. Normally we focus on, you know, those events and what he's saying, but I want to focus on what the Republican Party has become and the type of people who are there. We talked about this a little bit earlier with the balloons and the banners, the annoying banners at Yankee Stadium, this kind of cult behavior. We previously talked about how, and Snopes confirmed this, that the Trump supporters
Starting point is 00:49:30 are wearing diapers at the events right now to show solidarity with Donald Trump. They've got these pee funnels where they pee on the floor while wearing diapers. Apparently, they don't have porta-potties as Donald Trump plays the J6 anthem, replacing our national anthem. But this Bronx thing is a little bit, it makes some of even the P funnels and the diapers look a little bit tame. You'll see what I mean. Let's take our last quick break of the show. I would not be recommending this if it didn't actually help me. When you go there, you can join one of the membership tiers, including one tier at the end of the episode, your name appears as an honorary producer, which is pretty cool. All right. Let's talk about something that's not pretty cool though, which is pretty weird. This Trump event in the Bronx, first off, it's very small. Trump claims he can sell out Madison Square Garden. He can't. I don't even think the size of this venue can hold more than 3,500 people. Wait for them to start saying 50,000, 100,000, 200,000, or they'll just go with the population of New York city, I guess, if they're doing it in Wildwood. Also, it's a lot of people who are not from the Bronx,
Starting point is 00:55:09 who are there people who follow him around the country. He's got a big MAGA rapper contingency right here. Like all of these people right here are from Florida. Um, and, and this is part of the Republican crew. The, this is when the the media says this is what conservatives are today. This is what the media is saying is conservatives with all of these MAGA rappers. There's one MAGA rapper I recognize named Forgotio Blow. And he does rap songs about killing his girlfriend. And it's all really bizarre and really pathetic. There's the QAnon superhero who's at
Starting point is 00:55:47 the event. These aren't jokes. These are actually the people. The QAnon superhero. There's a QAnon Superman. Then you've got this guy who, as Anarchy Princess says, we're calling this guy Maga Grinch. He keeps yelling on the sidewalk that he wants porn, and he also smells like a porter body. That's a great description by her right there. I guess I should show you that that's really what he's debating. Do I show these videos? You got to show it.
Starting point is 00:56:21 He's a small portion of MAGA Grinch, who's one of the people who are there. He's chanting, we want in the street. We don't need to play the full clip, Brett. People will get, I think, it after a little bit. Play all six minutes is what I heard. No, I'm just kidding. All right. All six.
Starting point is 00:56:40 Just kidding. Here we go. You got any porno? You got any porno milk? Long live pornography. Long live pornography. I saw Ben kept saying, okay, enough, enough, enough. Ben, behind the scenes, I kept trying to single it. I was like, no, let it play, let it play. Yeah, I was like, how long do I let Ben do that for?
Starting point is 00:57:16 All right, here's this guy. We don't have to sound aggressive behind the scenes. I guess you could run a B-roll. Here he is at the event dancing. This is kind of what a typical Trump event is. But then the guy passed out. Unclear if this was driven by substances or the types of websites he's consuming. Unclear. Is this the same guy? I think it's a different guy. I don't know. No, no. This is the porno guy. Is it really? I think it's the same guy.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Yeah, it was just him. You know what's going on, boys? No, I'm good. I just need some food. Go away. I didn't sleep for like 24 hours. Okay? I got here at 2 in the morning. That's all I'm saying. George
Starting point is 00:58:04 Santos was in attendance on all of the MAGA folks. Same person. George Santos was in attendance and all of the MAGA folks were running to take photos with him. He's a MAGA superstar right now. Take a look at what happened when George Santos arrived. And look, but like, but like,
Starting point is 00:58:36 what are they cheering for? Ben? Like for George Santos, I like, can you explain it to me? Like I'm five. Like he literally stole from them. He lied to them. He spit in their faces.
Starting point is 00:58:44 It's like Jordy. It's like the worst Disneyland ever. Like, you know, people go to Disneyland and like, you get like, you know, it was like very, very exciting. Yeah. Very exciting as a kid. Like if you were listening to audio, there were pictures with set and there were people taking photos with sandals, like calling them over, cheering for him, applauding him. Like he's some sort of hero. Yeah. So it's like the most depressing Disneyland you've ever seen. And they go up and there are these characters around. You got, oh, that's the guy who is the reincarnation. It's actually JFK Jr.
Starting point is 00:59:15 And it's like the QAnon guy, right? And it's like, oh, that's George Santos. Look, George. Oh, look, Marjorie Taylor Greene is there. It's like just a cast of the weirdest characters you've ever seen in your life. Oh, look, Q-Nan Shaman showed up. Oh, there's Shaman. He brought his horns.
Starting point is 00:59:29 He's in costume. He's in costume. It's what it is though, right? It's why I always say I don't even think this show is political. Like it is like – It's pro-normal is the show. It's pro-normal. I just look at this, I'm just simply normal is the show. It's pro normal. I've just looked at this and I'm like, this is really embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:59:49 This is just really embarrassing to our country. And I'll explain it to you like a five-year-old. These people behave like petulant five-year-olds who's, who's never grown out of it. You know, and I'll explain it to you another way. I mean, this is what cult behavior is. It's really, it's really weird to see. And frankly, if they weren't trying to take away your rights, if they weren't trying to take away women's reproductive rights, if they weren't trying to take away all of our freedoms, I think it would be quite sad. Like I'm not trying to make fun of, even mock the people. Even when they're wearing diapers
Starting point is 01:00:27 and peeing on each other and engaging, it's sad in the pee funnel. It's sad behavior. It's sad that they're behaving this way, but I have to balance the inherent empathy I'd want to have for a fellow human being with the fact that these human beings are, are trying to hurt you and they're trying to hurt us. And they're trying to, not to mention it's one thing if it's like, you know, somebody doing something like that due to like a medical reason or medical condition, but doing something to like, please your cult leader. It's like a whole other thing. It's a whole other level. All right. Let's talk about also this right-wing MAGA conspiracy that they've been spreading about saying that President Biden tried to kill Donald Trump in connection with the search war and
Starting point is 01:01:15 executed in August of 2022. There's a standard policy use of deadly force protocol that's been in place in the FBI and DOJ forever for a very long period of time. It's just the standard policy statement that exists in every kind of policy when there's search warrants that are executed. So no matter what search warrant you find, this will be found in discovery, the exact protocol, because it's the exact policy statement. The policy statement was used in the search of President Biden. So it's used always. But one of the things that Donald Trump wanted to do was to make this public so that he could say Biden tried to kill him, and then he can spread it on right-wing media and then say Biden's a threat to democracy and know that the media won't call him out for it or just call him out for it for a
Starting point is 01:02:11 brief bit of time. But then the story that will prevail is that there's some sort of assassination attempt, right? The same way Trump would say, Obama wiretapped me, Obama wiretapped me. They were spying on me. Now they're tryingtapped me. They were spying on me. Now they're trying to kill me. They're trying to kill me. It's just part of the whiny victimhood that is MAGA and all things MAGA. So now they're saying they should impeach President Biden for this. Marjorie Taylor Greene's posting this.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Marjorie Taylor Greene goes, look, I told you, I told this to Donald Trump. And then Donald Trump goes, wow, I just you, I told this to Donald Trump. And then Donald Trump goes, wow, I just came out of the Biden witch hunt trial in Manhattan, the icebox, and was shown reports that Crooked Joe Biden, DOJ, and their illegal and unconstitutional raid of Mar-a-Lago authorized the FBI to use deadly force, lethal force. Now we know for sure that Biden is the serious threat to democracy. And again, this is Vladimir Putin tactics. This is Kim Jong-un tactics. This is Orwellian dystopian, give it whatever name it is.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Folks, this is the standard boilerplate form that's used for all operational activities from arrests, searches, and other operations. I think that's what it is. And facts matter. And if you actually look through the other documents, it talks about how the FBI contacted the Secret Service. They let them know in advance. They made sure Donald Trump wasn't there when the search was in place. They gave him every benefit of the doubt over and over again. And, you know-
Starting point is 01:03:47 Ben, this is just the perfect example though of how a lie is spread with MAGA and how it becomes just like, you know, the quote unquote truth in MAGA world. You have the initial lie that is created and amplified. And it's always, if you notice, like the lies are always based on very mundane, very ordinary things like standard procedure. Like these people could make wearing a seatbelt seem like the most egregious crime on the planet and start causing all this like
Starting point is 01:04:14 various outrage. And then what they do is they have people like there's this woman on a woman on Twitter whose name is, I think her name is Julie Kelly. And she works for one of these like right wing rags online. And she'll tweet it out with sirens and go, oh my god, this is an outrage. I can't believe this. And she is not a lawyer and knows nothing about the law whatsoever. She is just a firebrand who's out there to spread disinformation. Then you have that get picked up by people like the House Judiciary Committee, like Republicans in Congress.
Starting point is 01:04:50 And then they start spreading that with sirens, and they start saying the line over and over and over. Just a complete lie. They want to assassinate Donald Trump. They want to assassinate Donald Trump over and over and over, spreading the lie, spreading the lie, spreading the lie. Then it gets picked up by people like the New York Post. Then it gets picked up by people like Fox. Then, of course, it has to get debunked at some point. People start debunking it and showing that it's just standard operating procedure, but they don't care. They never care. They keep spreading the lie. It gets debunked further by showing, look, it's actually, here's the Biden form. Here's the Trump form. It says the same thing on both forms gets debunked by Fox's own, uh, white house correspondent, Jack, Jackie Heinrich. This is Jackie Heinrich. She's the Fox White House correspondent who confirms here that it was the same exact statement that was put into the search
Starting point is 01:05:32 at President Biden's residences in Delaware, fact-checking basically her own network. But even hours after she put this statement out, what did Fox do? Fox continues to spread the stories. Fox goes and they start posting things like this. Conservatives blast Biden admin authorizing deadly use of force for Trump Mar-a-Lago raid. This is already after they were debunked by their own person. Jackie Heinrich, if you remember, she was one of the people who was pushing back on Fox's lies about Dominion and Smartmatic back around 2020, 2021. She was the person who Hannity, in those emails that were leaked, Hannity wanted her fired for fact-checking him and fact-checking others in the network for spreading election lies.
Starting point is 01:06:17 She comes in with these fact-checks. There's this whole network that's just purely designed to spread propaganda. You either have people with power at the network like Hannity pushing to get her fired, um, or you have the network just ignoring her entirely and then living in this fantasy world. And then it just makes all the people on the right, you know, enraged and, and makes them think the system's unfair. It feeds into all their preconceived notions, all their conspiracy theories. And then, you know, it gets debunked and they don't care. They just move on. It's the next thing. It's the next lie over and over and over. I saw some people saying like, wow, like Adam Kinzinger, who I'm a big fan of.
Starting point is 01:06:50 Like yesterday it was like, this story shows how impressive the right-wing messaging machine is, as bad as it is. And I'm like, I get it. Like, yeah, they're all on the same message. I acknowledge it. Like, yeah, they're all on the same message. Like I, I acknowledge that, but there's a certain freedom in doing that if you're just willing to lie and not have any principles whatsoever. So it's like that to me, it's not like an impressive thing to me. It just shows you have no morals and no principles, but it shows you the, you know,
Starting point is 01:07:19 the asymmetric warfare that we're basically up against when you have people who on like the democratic side and the pro-democracy side who are at least concerned with trying to get it right. Not that, you know, we get it right all the time, not that Democrats, pro-democracy people get it right all the time, but we're at least trying to get at the truth, right? And then you have folks on the other side who are just trying to trick people all the time and are doing it in such a vicious way, such vicious lies, such dangerous lies at the highest levels of power in our Congress, on TV. It's just a disgusting thing that we have to deal with. And it's a daily, daily grind. And they want you to be worn down. They want you to be upset. They want every American to be miserable.
Starting point is 01:08:11 Think about, too, the projection when they always talk about the deep state that's trying to control things behind the scenes. Meanwhile, they quite literally have Donald Trump, who's not in power, ordering MAGA Republicans in the Congress how to behave linked with a propaganda machine to quite literally undermine the proper functioning of our democracy. And notice what Fox even says there. They don't say what the fact is. They say conservatives are enraged about the news, right? Conservatives blast Biden administration for authorizing deadly use of force. Well, first off, they're not conservatives. Second, it's because you're giving false information. They're wrong. They created the outrage. Now they're reporting on the outrage that they created. Exactly what they do. They're not reporting on what the fact is.
Starting point is 01:09:00 They're reporting on the outrage that they created. And that's the way is they're reporting on the outrage that they created and that's the way that they manipulate it, but also think that they're being clever in how they're framing the issue. Speaking about thinking that they're being clever or just thinking that they're just going to outright show that they're a fascist, I mean, the fact that you have someone like Justice Alito, who apparently flies infinite fascist flags around. Every day, there's a new flag story. First, it's his DC residence with the inverted flag, one of the symbols of the insurrection. Then he blames it on his wife, says it's his wife's fault. Then we learn about his beach house in New Jersey. By the way, great to know that he's got mansion beach houses. I mean, that's wonderful
Starting point is 01:09:45 that our Supreme Court's living large and living the high life on the beach like that. But then they've got this flag that is originating. It's called the Appeal to Heaven flag, which originated from this right-wing extremist preacher who's been trying to give this flag to a lot of other kind of right-wing symbolism that was brought there on January 6th. Not surprisingly, though nothing should be surprising anymore, that's a flag that's flown outside of MAGA Mike's office as well. And look, the issue isn't, do you have the right to fly flags? Under the First Amendment, you can fly flags, even flags that may have hateful connotation. You have a First Amendment right to do that.
Starting point is 01:10:52 But when you are a Supreme Court justice and you are ruling on cases that come before you regarding the January 6th insurrection, and you are so bold that you are putting up symbolism of J6ers at your house and at your beach house, and symbolism calling for a theocracy while you're making rulings that are eliminating the separation of church and state, while you are making rulings supportive of J6ers, while you are making rulings that of Jay Sixers, while you are making rulings that undermine the foundation of our democracy, while hoisting up flags showing sympathy, it's just a really horrific thing to see. And it's why elections matter. But Brett, I want you to talk briefly about the economy, if you can, because I want to go from the world of MAGA craziness to the world of like, if this economy
Starting point is 01:11:48 was under Donald Trump, every single day, we would be told we are living in a golden age, that we are living in the greatest time to be alive as Americans. As Dean Baker says, just to repeat what we all know, if we had the same exact economic data and Donald Trump was in the White House, he would be boasting in all caps, greatest economy ever. Every Republican politician in the country would be constantly repeating it. And the media would be running pieces on how hard it would be to defeat Trump, given the strength of the economy. I'd go one step further. The media would be writing that this is the greatest economy ever in the history of the United States, that Trump would be the
Starting point is 01:12:38 greatest ever. You would see headlines like that every single day. But instead now, corporate media focuses on, oh, it looks like President Biden wore Hoka sneakers today. He must be struggling to walk. Those are the types of stories that you see each and every day. Give us some of the economic news, Brian. Yeah, it's so incredibly frustrating. I truly, I despise how accurate that tweet is. Um, and it's, it's so true. It's, it's exactly what would be going on. And it's so incredibly frustrating.
Starting point is 01:13:10 I wish we could almost like run a simulation to run those two scenarios and see that. But I, but like we know for a fact that's true. And also, you know, I think it's important that we kind of, uh,
Starting point is 01:13:21 bust this whole myth too, of like the great Donald Trump economy that never existed. This is something that never, ever existed. Trump thought entire time was like, like he always says, like Biden's running off the fumes of my economy. Like Trump was quite literally running off the fumes of president Obama's. I mean, Donald Trump was quite literally running off the fumes of president Obama's economy at the time. He was riding the wave and then he screwed it up pretty early on. And we worked with this guy, his account is Debunction Junction. You should look it up. I would love to play this clip. It's a couple minutes long,
Starting point is 01:13:56 but it shows in raw data, it takes away. You often get the pushback. I think Katie Turin, MSNBC, a week or two ago with Nancy Pelosi was like, but what about COVID and jobs? Like, isn't that the reason why Donald Trump's jobs numbers were so bad? No, no. It was actually before that. It showed that his job, the rate of job growth under Trump was significantly worse than under Democratic presidents. So I'll play this clip. It's all summed up.
Starting point is 01:14:21 And this is on our social media. I hope you share this with folks because it really lays it out in a very clear way. So when Donald Trump ran for president back in 2015, he made it pretty clear how he thought he'd perform as a job creator. We're going to create jobs. I said that I will be the greatest jobs producer that God ever created. And I mean that I really, I'm going to work very hard on that. But whenever you try to bring up the fact that Trump is only the second president ever to lose jobs during his term, conservatives and journalists alike cling to the excuse that a global pandemic was going on during his last year in office. So guess what we're going to do? To avoid that issue,
Starting point is 01:14:58 we're going to make Donald Trump the first three-year president in American history and pretend like his term ended at the beginning of 2020 instead of 2021. And to do this, I'm taking jobs numbers straight from the official source, the Bureau of Labor Statistics. So to start with, in Trump's first year, he created just over 2.1 million jobs. But then, just like the three Republican presidents before him, he passed a massive tax cut for corporations and the ultra rich in the fall of 2017 that got zero Democratic votes. But then he said this about the effect it would have on job creation. See, you're going to see.
Starting point is 01:15:31 You're going to see what happens. And ultimately, what does it mean? It means jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. So how did it do? Well, in 2018, Trump created just under 2.3 million jobs. But in 2019, job creation dropped under 2 million for the first time in nine years. And this brought Trump's three-year total of job creation to 6,382,000, which might not sound too bad, except for the fact that in Barack Obama's last three years,
Starting point is 01:15:59 without the so-called help of Trump's tax cut, he created more than 8 million jobs. So if you're keeping score at home, giving away trillions in tax cuts to already profitable corporations and the wealthiest families in the country got us 1.6 million less jobs than we had in the three years before Trump. Sounds bad, right? Well, just wait, because it only took 17 months for Joe Biden to recover all 9.2 million of Trump's pandemic job losses. And by MAGA's own standards, Biden only started creating new jobs in June of 2022. And since that time, in less than two years, he's created 6,494,000 jobs. So in less than two years, Biden has created 112,000 more new jobs than Donald Trump did in his first three years in what Republicans still like to call the best economy ever.
Starting point is 01:16:50 But the worst part about it is that no journalist is willing to run these numbers themselves or point out that every Republican president since the Great Depression has had worse job growth than the Democratic presidents both before and after them. Are we to believe that this is a coincidence that's lasted a century? Or is one party determined to crash the economy over and over so the wealthy can continue to scoop up devalued assets and continue to decimate the working class in America? It's such a, isn't it such a brilliant video?
Starting point is 01:17:20 It's, Munchin Junction is incredible. That, wow, that was so well put together. And we post that also, that's on our Instagram too, at Midas Touch. That's an incredible job that he did. over 50 years, record low unemployment. You have wage growth far outpacing inflation. You have a lot of really good metrics. And that's not to say that there isn't a lot of work to be done and there isn't a lot of inequality to solve. But let's stop pretending like we're not in a significantly better place than we were four years ago and a significantly better place than we were under Donald Trump at any time. This entire myth is just so absolutely ridiculous that it persists and that people buy into it. Quickly, I want to make sure that folks heard about the student
Starting point is 01:18:12 debt relief. It's a pretty big deal that the Biden administration is wiping away another $7.7 billion in student loan debt for 160,000 additional Americans, bringing the total number who have benefited from the student debt relief to nearly 5 million. President Biden also made a huge announcement that 1 million PAC Act claims have been approved. And this is another one of those examples of thinking back of Republicans just kind of trying to blow everything up and destroy everything, right? The PAC Act, which should have been the easiest bill to pass on the planet. Let's help our veterans who are exposed to toxic burn pits get healthcare. This should be the easiest bill to pass in Congress. And Republicans put up a fight,
Starting point is 01:18:53 and they voted it down, and they fist-bumped after. Remember that famous moment of Ted Cruz fist-bumping the fellow Republicans after he voted down the PACT Act, and it took President Biden shaming them relentlessly. It took Jon Stewart coming in and going to D.C. and shaming them. And they kept making up these lies that the bill has all this other pork in it. No, it doesn't. No, it does not. Now, though, we have one million PACT Act claims approved by the government, by the VA. It's a really big deal. And I'll let President Biden speak to that milestone. I've long said, and initially got in trouble for saying it, that about 30 years ago, that America has a lot of obligations, only one truly sacred obligation, sacred obligation. And that's to prepare those we send into harm's way and to care for them and their families when they come home. And if they don't come home, care for their families. Nearly two years ago, we took a giant step toward fulfilling that obligation
Starting point is 01:19:47 when I fought for and signed the PACT Act. It was one of the most significant laws ever. It surprised me anybody voted against it, but a bunch did. We set up to help millions of veterans who were exposed to toxic substances during their services. Today, I'm proud to announce the VA just granted its one millionth, one millionth PAC Act claim. One millionth. That's actually what a president is supposed to do.
Starting point is 01:20:15 Could we all remember that that is what a president is supposed to do? That's what a president is supposed to be? And that the things that he is speaking about there are not controversial. These are not controversial issues. Veterans veterans should get the health care that they need when they come home, especially when they're exposed to toxic burn pits. Like full stop. This shouldn't even be a battle. This shouldn't have had to be a hard fought win for President Biden. It should have just been obvious. But he really had to fight for it to get it done. Something else, a big milestone, 201 federal judges confirmed that were nominated by Biden. Biden is still far outpacing Trump's judicial confirmations at this time. Biden said, today we reach another milestone in the effort to protect the freedoms and liberties of all Americans, the confirmation of the 200th federal judge since I took office. And Biden spoke about
Starting point is 01:21:02 the importance of judges. He said, judges matter. They have the power to uphold basic rights or to roll them back. The judges that Biden put in also are so different than the judges that Trump would put into office. I mean, with people like Trump put office, we got people like Judge Eileen Cannon, and we got people who, like the bar literally said, were unqualified to be judges, like do not belong, have never been in a courtroom, don't belong anywhere near a courtroom. But the people Biden put in are all exceptionally well-qualified judges. It's also a very diverse group of people that actually represents America. They come from every walk of life that you could imagine. 64% are women, 62% are people of color. It's the most impressive, honestly, diversity on the bench
Starting point is 01:21:45 that we've ever seen. And so these are all things that, you know, the presidency is even more about, you know, the person. It's about all these things, right? It's about judicial nominations. It's about all these other policies. It's about setting the tone for the country. And so I think it's important that we reflect on all these accomplishments, whether it's with student debt relief or helping veterans or the judicial system, and just try to continue to bring back the normalcy that I know everyone's craving and understand that there's a reason why the other side wants you to feel like crap because they don't want you to acknowledge all the good. They don't want you to acknowledge all the good in your life and all the good that's actually happening in the country.
Starting point is 01:22:22 One of the main tactics of dictators and authoritarians is to make you feel so crappy that when they give you breadcrumbs, you'll feel so grateful to them. And what America used to be about is not trickling down breadcrumbs, but bottom up, middle out, which is what President Biden's economic policy is about. When you think about what Republican, MAGA Republican policy is about, it's quite literally helping the rich get richer and maybe that they give breadcrumbs and that you should be grateful for your crumbs fundamentally. And by the way, you can take that by extension to not just be money, but that they'll take away all your freedoms, all of your rights, so that when they finally say, okay, you can do this, you're like, oh, thank you so much. Thank you so much. to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, not to ask permission from Donald Trump or from
Starting point is 01:23:27 MAGA Mike in order for you to live the life that you want to live as they take away your rights. It's why it's so vitally important this moment and why media literacy, getting the facts out is so important right now. And the antidote to propaganda, how you combat it, how you fight it is you. You're actually the solution right here.
