It's Labor Day and breaking news from this morning,
the Trump-appointed judge in the Southern District of Florida,
Eileen Cannon, made an atrocious
ruling granting Trump's request to appoint a special master and issuing an injunction
against the Department of Justice to stop reviewing the records they obtained from the
lawfully executed search warrant and preventing them from using the
records in any investigation until the special master completes his or her or their work. We will
keep you updated there. But one of the worst rulings that I've ever seen, and it's sickening
that these deranged, lunatic, fascist MAGA Republicans led by Trump have the ability to appoint judges
like Eileen Cannon, which erodes our judiciary.
But here we are.
And Trump's speech at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
this weekend just shows this traveling, fascist,
perverse circus.
It is exactly what Biden warned against.
These are not normal Republicans.
These MAGA Republicans are fascists
and there's nothing more anti-American
than what I saw at that Pennsylvania rally.
But MAGA Republicans love it.
That's their guy. Trump MAGA Republicans love it.
That's their guy.
Trump's their Mussolini.
F-democracy.
How dare Biden criticize fascists?
That's what we hear from these radical right Republicans
on the weekend shows
and on this Labor Day.
But on this Labor Day,
what is Biden and the pro-democracy coalition focused on?
Labor, jobs, the economy,
making lives better for Americans.
Unions, focusing on strengthening unions.
And that's where I want to start the show today.
Not the doom and gloom of MAGA Republican fascism. But on Labor Day, I want to focus on after reading that ruling, I'm not discouraged.
Sure, am I disappointed? Yeah, but I'm fired up. I am fired up.
I am fired up too, and always great to be with the brothers. Always great to see you guys,
to be able to do this podcast, to be able to chat here with the Midas Mighty. Oh man,
we got so much good pro-democracy
momentum right now heading into these November elections. And Ben, I couldn't be happier either.
I mean, just think about what we've been able to accomplish here. Think about the momentum
in the past even few weeks alone. Think about the momentum that we've had all throughout the
Biden administration. I mean, 5.8 million jobs added in the past year. Un, six hundred sixty six hundred
sixty thousand manufacturing jobs. It's the strongest jobs recovery since the 1950s. And
companies are taking notice. I mean, companies for all this Trump made in America talk and
bloviating and just all of his B.S. Guess what? Manufacturing is on fire right now under Democrats.
Surprise, surprise. I mean, even Trump admitted that the
economy does better on Democrats, but the numbers here speak for themselves with these manufacturers
just pumping money into the economy. Toyota spending $2.5 billion on electric vehicle
batteries. First Solar, $1.2 billion on solar panels. And I could keep going down this list,
but companies are investing in America. Manufacturing is soaring
and organized labor is taking notice. We've had the privilege here at Midas Touch to be able to
chat with people in the labor movement and to just hear their needs. I think that's so important to
make sure that people know that we're fighting for workers here. I mean, at the end of the day,
it's almost like Ben Jordy, when you watch that Trump speech and you watch what the Democrats are doing, it's almost like two entirely different universes. You have one,
which is just fantasies and lock up Dr. Fauci and lies and hate. And then you have people being like,
how can we get jobs back in the country? And what policies can we implement to help people?
It's just a shock to the system. What do you think, Jay?
It's just so disappointing. And to see from my home Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, people cheering on Donald Trump, people cheering
on Mastriano.
And honestly, it's such a strange, strange world that we live in.
What are you laughing at?
I'm laughing because you say those names and you forget that that rally was supposed to
be a rally in support of those candidates.
But it just became this me, me, me, me, me, Donald Trump grievance show.
Exactly.
Bring up, you brought Dr. Oz on for like 10 seconds.
Say your thing.
Okay, now get off the stage.
It's like, so humiliating.
The fact of the matter is he's using Mastroianno and Oz to just get out his, you know, Trump's own bullshit message. He's using
them to get that stage because he knows they're losing candidates. Mastroianno's losing candidates.
Well, they're using him. He's using them. That's the trade-off with MAGA Trump, right?
Is that you are no longer your own candidate when you're a MAGA Republican. You are a Trump proxy,
and that's what's at stake now in the midterms, which our voters have to say.
That's why we cover what takes place at those rallies. To me, the problem with the media,
and this is one of the things, it was never that they covered Trump. It's that they covered Trump the wrong way. They covered him with bemusement. They covered him neutrally. They covered him with both side isms.
Great point.
Never just totally ignore the fascist creep.
It's call out the fascism.
So when some people are like, well, you're just playing his video.
And isn't that just helping him?
No, because I'm playing his video and I'm condemning it and I'm dissecting it. And I'm
showing why each and everything that he says is a lie and why it's harmful and hurtful to the
American people. And this is an individual, whether we want to admit it or not, but we can't
ignore it. He leads the Republican Party. He leads MAGA Republicans, the group that's
currently the second biggest political party in the country right now. And when he goes up and
says things like the FBI are mobsters, they're monsters. When he says things like the election
was stolen, that I won Pennsylvania where he lost by 80,000 votes. When he says those things,
those things are anti-democracy. And so it's important that we actually show it,
highlight it, and say that these Republicans are fascist and not just ignore it like the
mainstream media does. And they want to both sides it and claim, oh, everything's
normal. Democrats and Republicans, it's just politics as usual. It's not.
And, you know, we had the pleasure of premiering Joe Biden's speech the other day on the soul of
the nation, his pro-democracy speech, where he shut down MAGA republicanism. And he made it clear,
you know what, guys, I'm not talking about every republican. Don't get it twisted. He said in the
very beginning of his speech, he said, let me be clear. I am not speaking about every republican.
I am speaking about these MAGA republicans who are against democracy. So what does the media do?
They play right into the republicans' hands. Oh, how dare he speak about 50% of the
country that way? Let me tell you something. These MAGA Republicans are nowhere near 50%
of the country. All the people who voted for Donald Trump are not all MAGA Republicans.
And Philip Bump, who wrote this piece in the Washington Post, he did an analysis,
and he concluded in every kind of thing that he ran, every mathematical equation he ran,
that MAGA Republicans represent about 10% of the United States population. Now, that's still far too big
of a number. It's still a scary amount of number. But don't let these people gaslight you to make
you think that it's 50% of the country. And we see Joe Biden continuing this line, which I think is
just so brilliant, because what it does is it tells Republicans and Republican voters, listen,
you are either going to be with this anti-democratic party who is calling for violence, or you're going to be with a set of pro-democracy Republicans, the few that remain, or you could
consider yourself an independent or a Democrat. It's great framing because it's great anchoring
because it basically puts all those people in a box and it says, this is a time for choosing. Are you with that? Are you with everything you saw in that Donald
Trump speech, which by the way, immediately proved the thesis of president Biden's remarks.
100%. Are you with that? They walked right into that trap. They walked themselves right into that
trap. And there was a great piece in The Atlantic that laid that out amazingly as well.
I implore everyone to go and check that out too.
And Brett, to your point, you're right.
Biden's made Republicans.
If you consider yourself a Republican who loves this country, you have to now make your
decision.
Are you a MAGA Republican who hates this country?
Are you the Republican that wants to see democracy succeed
for the next 200 years, for the next 2000 years, for the rest of all of your kids' lifetimes?
It's beyond, beyond smart what the Biden administration, the Biden team is doing with
this framing. And Jordy, you mentioned this Atlantic article. I want to give credit where
credit is due. David Frum is the author of the article. The article's called
Biden Laid the Trap, Trump Walked Into It. And the essential-
I guess it was bad for me to recommend an article for people to read without giving
the name of the article or the author. So that's my bad. Thanks for helping me out on that one.
That's why you have teammates, Jay. That's why you have a big brother, Jay.
Big brother, thank you.
And essentially the thesis behind this article,
and go read the full article though, is a hit dog will holler, that expression,
which is that when he didn't say Republicans are bad people, he said fascists are bad people.
He said, we need to rid this country of political violence and election deniers. And when he said
those things, who comes out of the woodwork?
All of the Republicans. Oh, he offended me. He offended me. Yeah, because you're a fascist.
If that speech offended you because you claim the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump,
you're you're a fascist. If you believe that the insurrectionists is a form of legitimate
political discourse, you're a fascist when you call our FBI monsters
and mobsters and vicious people and that we should defund the FBI and that the Espionage Act should
be repealed because Donald Trump's frail ego is broken when he stole our top secret sensitive
compartmented information. Look at yourself in the freaking mirror because you, my friend, who is not my friend,
are a fascist.
You are a fascist.
Those are all signs that you are a fascist.
And then you have people like Nikki Haley
who go on the Fox shows and she's like,
all we're trying to do is not worry about our pronouns
and just go to school without pronouns.
Like, what are you even talking about with your pro? Well, I don't even know what they're even referring
to these people. And did you see, Brett, the big concern that they now have on the radical right?
And this is what they were talking about before, is that this is one of their conspiracies,
that they go public schools are providing litter boxes for our children who want to identify as cats.
And if we as Republicans are brought into power, we will not allow the litter boxes to be placed
into our public school. That is what these radical fascists are absolutely saying. Those are their
issues. I don't know what they're talking about. And Trump's on his failing social media platform in all caps.
I did nothing wrong.
You stole top secret.
They're not even.
Breath.
They're not.
Breathe.
They're not.
I got to do.
They're not.
His argument is not even these personal documents.
These are personal documents that belong to me.
His document is I stole them.
His argument is I stole them, but I kept them in a cabinet and the FBI found them and they
took a photograph of them on the floor with an evidence marker
and it looked sloppy.
I'll do you one better.
His argument is finders, keepers, losers, weepers.
That is the extent of the Donald Trump argument at this point.
I mean, it's crazy.
Let's face it.
President Biden held a mirror up to MAGA fascists and they did not like what they saw.
They did not like what they saw.
They got called out on it. And I'll play you this clip right now. Let's play this clip from the Donald Trump
presidential campaign. This is from August of 2020, where Trump goes on a rant and he
struggles through it. He has a little bit of difficulties through this, as you will see.
But he goes and he calls Democrats fascists or whatever word he attempted to use here.
He butchers it. Let's play this clip. You know all about that. Take away our energy, if you can believe it. No fossil fuel.
Destroy our Second Amendment. Attack the right to life and replace American freedom with left-wing
fascism. Left-wing. We're going left-wing all the way. Fascists. They are fascists. Some of them,
not all of them, but some of them, but they're getting
closer and closer. We have to win this election. But the proud people of Minnesota will not let
this happen. Now, do you guys remember any sort of media outrage when this happened? Do you
remember the endless news cycles? I think they just called that a Tuesday. They called that a
Tuesday or whatever date it is. I know it was August of 2020. But
here's the truth of it also is one of the reasons why it also wasn't a big deal is because nobody
takes that seriously because everybody knows how silly it is. The fact is that President Biden
hit the target in a bullseye. And because he hit it with such precision, that's why it was so
impactful. And that's why it was so impactful.
And that's why these people are reacting the way they were. They got caught, they got busted,
and they got called out. And so now they're trying to do, Ben and Jordy, everything that they always try to do in all these situations, which is let's throw all this culture work stuff
out there and try to distract people with the pronouns and with the books and with the this
and the that. And guess what? For the first time, it's really not working. I mean, we saw this work when maybe like gas prices were higher and inflation was higher. And, you know, they were
able to kind of capitalize on those moments and talk about Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head and sexy
green M&Ms. I'm going to try in the same place. It's not working. I'm going to say it. People
like stability over stupidity. And they love the stability that President Biden keeps bringing to
this to this great
country. It's also, they're not used to Democrats punching back, Jory. They're not used to it. And
so they're having this visceral reaction right now because they're like, oh shit, wait, wait,
did he just call us out? Did he just call us MAGA Republicans? Did he just call us semi-fascists?
What? Wait, wait, wait, we've just been allowed to do all this stuff and not get called out on
it for years. And now all of a sudden, wait, wait. Biden came in with proverbial left hook fascists. What? Wait, we've just been allowed to do all this stuff and not get called out on it
for years. And now all of a sudden, wait, wait. Biden came in with proverbial left hook and these
MAGA Republicans have no idea how to react. They're dazed, they're hazed, they're confused.
Going back to Nikki Haley super quickly, why her whole argument was so bizarre and why we're
continuing to see that as well with these MAGA Republicans, it's sort of what we hinted at at
the beginning of this show. Donald Trump continues to be the leader of the Republican Party. Everything that Donald
Trump has ever led in his life, whether it's Truth Social or any Trump organization, has failed
miserably. And so once you don't have any good leadership at the top levels, the quote unquote
employees, the folks under you,
they're not going to know how to react and respond. They don't know the talking points anymore. And
this is how you end up with kitty litter in kindergarten. It's it's more serious than that,
Jordy. This is how you end up with a broken electricity grid in Texas, right? With the
Republican governor. This is how you end up with no running water in
Mississippi with a Republican governor, because Republicans generally have abdicated their full
responsibility to what their job is to become weirdo podcast fascist hosts, and they focus so much on making up BS issues that they're not even
rolling up their sleeves and doing the work at which they are hired to do. And Democrats are
out there saying, here is what we're going to do. And here is what we did. Here are the policies that we've had. Problems are going to arise because we live in a
necessarily imperfect world. And to blame the problem on the administration versus how the
administration can solve the problem is an important distinction as well. What do you do
when confronted with a problem that is not a problem of your own
making? We've talked about the people, the arsonist who then tries to claim that they should be the
firefighter. But then when you appoint them the firefighter, they create more arsons. That's what
they do. They start burning their neighbors buildings, not just putting out the fire.
And that's what Americans are taking notice to. And that's why Americans are leaving
the mainstream media in droves and are focused, frankly, on independent media networks like the
Midas Touch Network and similar such networks that support pro-democracy, because as they are
looking towards places like CNN, which we've talked about ad nauseum,
has made this hard right turn.
By the way, for all the flack that we got from that, from people who were like,
why do you keep talking about CNN like that?
I'm just so glad that now people are actually seeing it come to fruition.
We've been trying to warn you guys about this for like so long when we see the writing on the wall.
But I'm happy that people are finally actually seeing it because they've just been so obvious with it.
I mean, Ben, all these stories.
Before you do it, though, before you do that, I want to go there.
But you're right.
I want to make that one point, though.
You're like people were like when we first were like, you know, is Daniel Dale really fact checking us when we said that Marco Rubio was supportive of insurrectionists,
when Marco Rubio cheered a convoy that tried to kill President Biden simply because Rubio said,
I didn't support the insurrection, but all of his action showed it. People were like, yeah,
but it's Daniel Dale. He's a CNN guy. He's a good guy. Don't be hard on him. I go, I'm going to be
hard on people who do bullshitty stuff. And that was messed up.
And then he did that with Marjorie Taylor Greene.
And then he did it again recently as well.
And it's just like enough is enough.
But Brett, talk about what's going on at CNN.
Well, I just want to say, you know, I'm a huge proponent of the media.
Like, I think the media is so important and it's so important that we have a strong media,
which is why I also think it's so important to call it out when you see it shift, because the media throughout history, not the US media, but all across the world, has given rise to dictatorships when they found it advantageous. If you have a CNN that is all of a sudden both sides in democracy and fascism, you're all of a sudden in a bad place.
And once CNN becomes like a Fox News light, then we're really in a really, really, really bad place.
And so what happened was this guy became a member of the board and discovery.
And there was all these mergers that John Malone, literally a Trump supporter.
I mean, this is somebody who actually donated to Donald Trump's Save America pack.
Let me repeat that. John Malone, who is pulling the strings at CNN, donated to Donald Trump's
Save America pack. All those crazy emails that you see people post begging for donations,
all that stuff, that's all from Donald Trump's Save America pack. John Malone was a big donor
to that. And John Malone views his North Star in how journalism should be conducted. His North Star is Fox News. He has said this in numerous interviews. He has said that Fox News is a model for how news should be. He said that the news is too leftist. Whenever they use that term, the leftist, you don't want to be too leftist.
You know immediately where they're coming from. It's like when somebody says, oh,
the Democrat runs cities. There are certain ways people phrase things that let you know,
oh, I know what side you're on, by the way. It's a dog whistle of a sort.
Exactly. It's the perfect way to describe it. And so one of the first things
that happens is Zucker is basically ousted. Zucker has to leave because he gets into trouble
for the affair that he had with another CNN staffer. And they bring in this guy, Chris Licht.
Now, Chris Licht's background to me is interesting because he helped start the Morning Joe show. He
was an executive producer on Colbert. So you would think, oh, this is a guy who probably aligns my
beliefs and things. But then he takes a bizarre turn. One of the first things he does at CNN
is he goes on an apology tour across Capitol Hill. And this is well documented. He goes on an apology
tour to apologize to Republicans, to go into Republicans, hold meetings with top Republicans,
MAGA Republicans, and say, hey, I know we've lost
your trust over these past few years. How can we gain it back? How can we gain back your trust?
And that to me is so dangerous because you shouldn't try to be gaining the trust of anybody.
You should be trying to gain the trust of Republicans or Democrats. You should be trying
to gain the trust of what is the truth. I am going to put my barometer towards the truth,
and that's what I
will deliver for the people. But instead, it was how could we provide more balance in this? How
could we help you guys out? They're never going to get these Republicans on their side, but what
they're doing now is they are trying to position themselves in the middle more. And the problem is
when the middle is the middle between democracy and fascism, you are then shifting to the right
towards fascism and authoritarianism. And that's the danger that we find ourselves in now. So now
you start to see the criticism like a President Biden speech, going after the minutia of the
speech, the little teeny details around the speech, and not actually speaking about the
true threats of democracy that he was railing
against and instead calling his speech divisive when, like we said, Donald Trump the next day,
two days later, proved the thesis of President Biden's speech. You have these reporters on
Twitter bringing up old stories about Hunter Biden, just like randomly bringing up old stories
about Hunter Biden, just a weird impulse for a CNN reporter to start bringing up old
stories of Hunter Biden when they have no relevance at the moment. I mean, I'm always
out of the position with stuff like that. Like let the DOJ do their thing. If he did something
wrong, I want to see accountability. Sure. I don't care, but I don't understand why they would
be bringing these stories up right now. You have the John Harwood situation, one of the pro-democracy
anchors who I really like at the network, along with people like Jim Acosta, like Don Lemon. I mean, there are people at the network I think do a really good job. John Harwood went on a demagogue and he is giving the speech of a
demagogue and he is speaking like a demagogue and acting like a demagogue. And it's our responsibility
as media, even though that may make it seem like we're being biased to call him out. We have to
call him out as media. That's what's so important. That day he announces like an hour or two after
making that statement that he's no longer with CNN. Now, John Harwood had another two years left on a CNN contract. So one could deduce that John Harwood was fired
for making those pro-democracy statements. And then you start seeing these other articles
on the CNN website about wokeness, why wokeness comes to Middle Earth, why some say diverse
casting ruins the new Lord of the Rings series. And this is just like a bizarre title. And this is just
like the cherry on top of the fascist CNN Sunday here. What you got is an article that's basically
just replaced the word wokeness with diverse casting or replace the word woke. You don't
have to, Brett. Here's the thing about the title. You don't have to replace it because it literally says it. Normally, wokeness is code. But in this one, it goes, when wokeness comes to
Middle Earth, why some say diverse casting ruins the new Lord of the Ring series. Now,
this type of journalist where it goes, why some i mean whoever is your credentials lose your credentials
whoever is saying that diverse casting ruins a made-up fantasy world the the made-up fantasy
middle earth is uh is is all white necessarily i mean who are the people saying you don't know
the authenticity of middle earth all white people how dare you tell you don't know the authenticity of Middle Earth, all white people. How dare you? Let me tell you.
You are hurting the integrity of Middle Earth's whiteness.
Who are these people?
Let me tell you who, because CNN based this entire story around somebody named Brandon
Morse.
It's the first name, I think it's the first words used in the article.
Brandon Morse.
Who is Brandon Morse?
Who is the person who is saying that this is a problem? Brandon Morse is the deputy managing editor of RedState.com and the host of Red State Live. They are a far right MAGA Republican website. That is who some say anything. You could make whatever your agenda is, you could say,
some say cigarettes are healthy for human beings. And then you find a bunch of Twitter threads of
people saying, yeah, I think the benefits surely outweigh the whatever. And you can make a story
about that. You can make a some say story about anything you want. And I think it's the worst
form of journalism in general that's out there. And this now to push this far right, anti-diverse, anti-woke.
I don't even know what.
It's just bizarre.
It's just bizarre for them to even publish this piece.
Some say Ben is the favorite brother.
But Jordy, to go and, again, spread this silly wokeness thing on a platform like that, frankly, just demeans
the intellect of the platform.
You know, it's interesting.
I saw a Twitter thread and what the Twitter thread was saying was Chris Licht was making
this decision because there's a concept in the media known as CPMs or cost per millis. And when it comes to news, the 18 to 49
demographic doesn't apply because most consumers of news are more in a demographic of about 45
and older. And so Chris Licks is trying to copy a Fox model, which finds that they were able to attract older individuals
and thus bring up their cost per milli. It's the cost they charge to advertisers. Cost per milli,
milli is a thousand. The amount of dollars per 1000 viewers that you charge to advertisers who
advertise on your network so that somehow by appealing to radical right individuals,
it would increase your CPM. And immediately when I saw that Twitter thread, Brett, I said,
I thought it was an interesting Twitter thread, but the thesis is completely wrong and it's
completely contradicted by our audience here on Midas Touch. We have a very diverse audience and an audience of all ages, but I find that our audience actually is the significant portion actually tends to be 45 years and older.
That audience at CNN is trying to reach by their hard right shift. Midas Touch Network is simply that we're not both sides in the issues that were detailed,
oriented, that were well-researched, that we bring on guests and we challenge guests
where and when appropriate. We don't give a microphone to fascists. And I actually find that
the individuals who are in the demographic that they purport CNN are trying to
find, that they're coming to Midas touch simply because we're speaking the truth unapologetically.
And when people aren't fighting for the truth and you go and you see this ping pong journalism of,
well, here's one side, here's the other side, it is very frustrating to watch that experience where the other side of fascism just goes unchallenged.
And it's in these soundbite forms, which is what we've combated here.
So so I think that CNN is going to try to copy Fox is the wrong decision.
And did you see Trump's statement, though, to one of Trump's social is saying, CNN, let's partner together. Let's work together.
He says Fox is looking like they're a little too pro-Democrat, which he's just saying that to
build. He doesn't mean that. What he's trying to do there is to bait CNN to try to do what they're
doing anyway and to try to let Fox know, I'm going to partner with these people.
But when you're CNN, when Trump is saying, I want to partner with you in a post on his failing social media company, that's not good company to be in.
I won't read the whole thing, but basically he says, if CNN ever went conservative,
they would be an absolute goldmine and I would help them do so.
Yep.
I still like this whole pretending that they're conservative.
Like name me one piece of conservative ideology from that Donald Trump speech. You cannot.
And that's what I just appeal it back to frame it appropriately. What you're saying is
these radical extreme Republicans who try to hold a conservative mantle,
there's no conservatism built into that. And so stop calling it conservative.
Yes. But Donald Trump still and his ilk sometimes still sometimes they just admit it and go,
oh, they're not we're not conservative. We're MAGA. But sometimes they still try to be like,
oh, we're the real conservatives. And you're like, are you? Let me hear one conservative
plank from that Donald Trump speech. Give me one. Listen to the entire speech. Did he talk
about lowering taxes at all throughout? I didn't hear that. Did he talk about,
I don't know, a conservative idea of a health care plan? I didn't hear any of that.
This is what they consider conservative. Now they called covid China dust. He called the FBI
monsters and vicious people. He said that the red light, which their color is red, is the colors of the devil.
They called for the imprisonment of Hillary Clinton for something that was a million times less severe than Donald Trump's thing and acted like she wasn't investigated, which she was turned over.
All of the records didn't lie or obstruct in any way. He begged a prosecutor,
John Durham, who's lost his only case that he brought against Michael Sussman, claiming that
Sussman lied to the FBI for informing them about Trump's connections to Russia, which was real,
and led to the indictment and prosecution and guilty prosecution of Manafort. John Durham lost that
case in the most embarrassing fashion, begged Durham to do political trials against Democrats,
claimed the 2020 election was rigged, said that windmills are bird cemeteries, and then just
randomly said the word China in that weird way that he likes to say it. He called Joe Manchin a
dog. He said that President Obama is not as handsome as he claims to be. He had the crap
president. Yeah. He said that President Xi and Putin were fierce and smart and ruled with an
iron fist. And the crowd gave a standing ovation for it. He condemned Pennsylvania. He said that Fetterman is a
Yeah, yeah. He said that, well, he said he said their largest city, he said Philadelphia
and blamed Pennsylvania for the vote, which is a racist dog whistle, obviously.
Yeah. He said that the biggest danger is our people in America. So I just want to be clear.
He also said with unsubstantiated claims that Fetterman uses drugs. So when we say, again, this is the detail
that the mainstream media doesn't present. Brett, your point is these people claim they're
conservative. Then we break down. Here is actually everything that they stand for.
And this is their leader. Exactly. And I think what it comes down to when
we're speaking about everything is Trump spouting, and when we speak about how it's being covered by
CNN and these corporate entities right now, I think it comes down to the phrase,
money corrupts. And I don't think money necessarily always corrupts, but I think in
this scenario, it certainly does because you have these billionaire investors, these billionaires who are able to then dictate the conversation to help themselves ultimately to try to shift the media in a direction where it will benefit their bottom line.
Because at the end of the day, I don't even think they care about right versus left.
I don't even think they care.
I think at the end of the day, they're just like, what's going to make me the most money? That's why I feel so betrayed
by what CNN has been doing
and the direction that they're going.
I don't feel betrayed
because I never felt like they were on my team.
I don't feel like team sport with these people.
Well, that's not what I'm trying to say.
I'm not trying to say like,
oh, they're on my side.
I just like to use them as a reputable news source
that would tell you the fact.
It's a bummer.
It's a bummer.
But I remember,
and this is a story for our Midas Touch viewers and listeners, people who may be new with us, people who may be with us
since the beginning. But there was a time in the beginning of Midas Touch when our videos were
starting to take off and we had big dollar donors approach us. And big dollar donors are an important
part of politics at this point, unfortunately. And we take a meeting with somebody and they offered us a good deal of money,
like a very sizable amount of money to do stuff with Midas Touch, which we could have used to do
TV ads and we could have used to put up billboards and stuff, but it came with a condition.
And the condition was, listen, I'll give you this money, but you guys cannot call these
Republicans fascists. You got to stop. You got to tone down that rhetoric. And we turned that down
without hesitation. We turned it immediately. We're like, no, absolutely not. It was kind of
at that point we knew that this had to be a people-powered movement. And that's why it's
been such a pleasure to build this with everybody. And that's why we're able to say the things that
we're able to say and be just so uninhibited and actually just tell the truth because we're not
corrupted by forces like that. And if that came to us that early on, oh man, I can only imagine what's
happening in these big giant corporate entities at a much larger scale of people who definitely
need and want to take the money and willingly do it and take those concessions. It happens every
single day. And speaking of which, that's why you need to support independent media. The way you
can support
Midas Touch is a few fold.
One, by hitting the subscribe
button right now.
If you're watching this on YouTube,
make sure you subscribe
to the Midas Touch podcast
wherever you get
your audio podcast as well.
After this podcast is over,
it will literally take you
two minutes to do,
probably less, maybe 10 seconds.
Just go and subscribe there.
Leave a five star review. That may take you actually two minutes to do, probably less, maybe 10 seconds. Just go and subscribe there. Leave a five-star review. That may take you actually two minutes to five minutes, but that will go a long
way to help the show. If you're watching this on YouTube too, you'll see the super chat feature.
That's the way you can contribute to support independent media. No pressure to do it one way
or the other. But if you're so inclined, we're not funded by billionaires or
decamillionaires. We're just three brothers who have bootstrapped this operation ourselves.
And make sure you go to store.midastouch.com as well. Store.midastouch.com, the home of all the
top pro-democracy gear. We've got Rovember shirts. We got row, row, row, your vote shirts.
We got convict and convict 45.
You can say it both ways.
Shirts unapologetically pro-democracy shirts.
Please go to store.midastouch.com.
Not only do the shirts look cool,
people post them and share their tweets wearing the gear.
It's cool to go out there and support democracy.
And it goes a long way
to help support our network store. And here's the one thing before we move on from that excellent,
excellent read you just did there. If you are a YouTube watcher only, I got to tell you,
you're missing out on a lot of great extra content that you don't know about.
On the podcast feed itself, the Midas
Touch podcast feed, where I know you've just done the subscription that Ben told you to do,
you'll notice that we're putting out pods five days a week now. Many people don't know that.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Now they know. Now you know.
Brett, you talked about money corrupting and money and absolute money corrupting, I
suppose.
Absolutely.
Just want to reflect on this one thing and you posted about it.
So very recently, as our audience is expanding rapidly, that always makes the right wing
extremist doxers very, very angry.
And the amount of hate and death threats that we get are frequent.
It's done. I don't even want to give people ideas to explain how it does, but it often takes a variation where people go after our family members. And so in this one particular individual, and I want to tie it to money corrupting, absolutely, and what we support and what we don't support, obviously. So this individual went on my Instagram account,
which I barely use my Instagram account. And 173 weeks ago or so, it was Mother's Day. And I wrote, happy Mother's Day. Such an amazing brunch to have with my mom, whose birthday is also tomorrow.
Happy B-Day. Love you. And this was before we started Midas Touch, or Midas Touch was even a thought.
And so someone went in and wrote to my mom and they wrote to her name, they wrote,
you spawned three whining socialist communist panties, congrats. And the person's called
sheep dropping is what their thing is. They have. They have some photo of them of sheeps
wearing masks. And I think this is like a meme that Alex Jones used. But I want to just reflect
on one second about how much of a weirdo, disgraceful person you have to do to go and
make that message to my mom. Like what a low level person. And that's one of the things we
want to point out, too, is that like that. This is why we got to turn out to vote, because there are people like sheep dropping out there
who want to take control and take power over you.
And this is the world they want.
This is the disgusting world they want to leave.
And nobody's going to come after my other point.
And the other point, the other point I want to make, though, is that supporting capitalism means that you don't have to give
billionaires a version of billionaire socialism, like the billionaires are not the ones who should
always get the tax cuts and the breaks and the debt relief and whatever advantage in the world
happens. The Republicans want to cater to this billionaire class. And there's something that
interesting that happens within capitalism. It's when billionaires realize, you know what?
What if I had no competition? What if I could just be an oligarch? And what if I don't have
to actually deal with all of that? And because that instinct, over time, our country developed
things like antitrust laws and trying to stop the aggregation of power
and to stop an oligarchy so that people can truly compete in a capitalistic system,
which is the greatest system in the world, when it functions the way it should function,
and when it functions with compassion as well, and when it functions for compassion with people who are left behind and making sure
that you provide opportunities and that you have safety nets for people and that you care and that
you support things like a living wage. And that's why Biden's support is not trickle down economics.
It's middle up economics and the Republican support who knows what they even support anymore because
their fucking platform is weird as hell. But to the extent they support trickle down economics,
the very concept of it, though, is the most offensive idea in the world.
Give money and benefits to billionaires and let it trickle down on us little peasants.
Let it trickle, trickle, trickle, trickle. And maybe I'll get a little, that's what their view is. Maybe I'll get a little droplet of the little sweat.
Please, sir, may I have some more?
That falls off the billion. I'm not even going to say it, but that is what their view is versus no.
Let's empower on Labor Day. Here's my message. Let's empower workers. Let's empower labor. Let's strengthen unions.
Because how do we start the engine of our country? By actually starting the engine of our country.
The people that work are our engine, and that's where we need to fuel. And so when people think,
oh, three whining socialists, socialist communists, dude, your entire
radical right platform sounds like the most fascist Hugo Chavez, like Fidel Castro style
platform in the world. I mean, Ben, think about what they've been able to delude these people
into. I mean, it's really it's tied together because just like they were able to get that crowd of people who claims to be, oh, boo, China, boo,
America first. They were able to get them to stand up and applaud for Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.
Let's just think about that. These are the America first folks, right? Trump got them to do that.
Our adversaries could not wish any more than that.
Like it's unbelievable.
And by the way, with the Ukrainian offensive counteroffensive working, you know, with Putin
showing just how frail and weak he is, the fact that these Republicans look at that and
go, that's the model that we want.
Really?
They're losing to a country that's sitting next to it that has a fraction of a fraction of their resources because strong men
like that, guess what? Aren't really that strong. They have inflated egos that need to be appeased
so when global pandemics hit our shores, they don't take it seriously.
And the other thing I was going to add to that is, so they were able to get them to applaud for
those quote unquote strong men, right? The America first people. Now the same people are also
applauding for literal billionaires. They got them to somehow, instead of working in their own
interests, applaud the billionaires who are taking advantage of them
every single day. And it's all tied together. And it's all what this propaganda is for at the end
of the day. It's not even power for power's sake. It's power to gain riches. It's power for power.
It's all the above. And these people are falling right in the trap. And sheep dropping is the
appropriate name for that person who made the comment.
Ben, do you want to give a just a brief Cliff Notes breakdown? Because you did a very extended breakdown on our YouTube channel of the judge filing
today, the ruling on this Trump motion for a special man.
So just the Spark Notes version for a podcast.
Spark Note version.
Everybody check out the video under breaking corrupt.
Trump judge ignores the law and rules
in favor of Trump.
You'll see a 20 minute breakdown.
The sparks note version of it or the Midas spark note version of it, if you will.
Judge Eileen Cannon, who Trump appointed in 2020.
She was a member of the Federalist Society since 2005.
The most junior judge in that court.
Very little experience. She wasn't a partner. She clearly has no clue on the way warrants work or criminal investigations work
in general. Well, she granted the request that Trump filed on August 22nd to appoint a special
master. She granted an injunction, even though it wasn't even clear that's what Trump was asking for.
And by the way, Trump filed no affidavits or declarations. I'll get to that in a second. But
she granted an injunction against the government, against the DOJ, saying you can't continue your
investigation in any way that utilizes these documents that you've already looked at.
So you can't subpoena people if it's based on those documents. You can't do fingerprinting tests on those documents. You must wait until the special
master is appointed and finishes their review, which could take weeks, if not months. It could
even go into 2023. And then she said she's going to reserve her decision on whether some of the
property Trump stole should be returned to Trump.
Now, these documents don't belong to Trump. He stole government records. He's not even disputing
that he stole government records. What he's claiming is somehow these government records
belong to him because he was once the president, which goes against all precedent. But this judge goes, you know what? Maybe that's not the case. Let's go play this out. Let's just have a special master
and see what happens. That's not the law. Past presidents can't go and steal records and hide
them. That destroys our national security. This isn't a hard concept, people like there's nothing
I could break it down more intelligently than that,
but it's a very basic principle. You can't steal our national secrets when you're no longer the
president. I thought Alison Gill, who's a great partner of the Midas Touch Network,
who hosted the Daily Beans podcast, she summed it up really well. She said,
food for thought. Imagine somebody steals your car. The cops get it back, but the thief sues to
keep it because finders keepers and a judge appoints a person to inspect the car for the thief's belongings, because if he left anything, he could call dibs.
That's what the judge just did today. And I'm going to add one other caveat to her statement, which is in this case, the thief hired the judge to make the decision.
The thief is the one who appointed the judge. So it just is like endless corruption.
But I was thinking like think about the people who Donald Trump gets to represent him as
a person, right?
I mean, we got Alina Haba.
We got Rudy Giuliani.
We got Christina Bob, Jenna Ellis, Jenna fart in her face, COVID Ellis.
We got Sidney Powell.
We got Lin Wood.
I mean, these are the nutshops he has to represent himself. Now imagine the people
you don't have to imagine. Look at the people he's choosing to represent the United States.
Do you think they're going to be of a higher caliber? I don't think so. And I think we're
seeing that play out right here. And check out the further review I do, but I go into and explain how
the judge didn't even have jurisdiction, but she claimed equitable jurisdiction. And basically, she assessed these factors from this case called Ritchie versus
Smith, these Ritchie factors about whether she could exercise this extraordinary assertion of
power over the case. And when she assesses all of the items, the main one that she claims is like the big factor was potential reputational
harm to Trump because past presidents could have their reputation. I'm not, but I'm not making
that's literally in her order. You know, the other, the other factors that she assesses, she goes,
we must also assess the individual interest and need for the property.
And I said this in my analysis, I go, yeah, the drug dealer would like his drugs back. They have an individual interest in getting their
drugs back. But if that was actually how you assess the element, then all of the criminals
would say, hey, I like the stolen shit that I got back. Can you give it back to me, judge?
And that element would be in their favor. So her analysis
is completely off and unhinged, unhinged here. But I assume the Department of Justice is going
to file an immediate appeal to the 11th Circuit. But this ignores all rules, all precedent.
People go, well, what can you do? What's, you know, can you get rid of her? She needs to be
investigated. There's really, this is why elections matter.
Sure.
Could she technically be impeached?
Sure.
Could she be investigated?
Sure.
I don't lie to people on my decision.
Yeah, it's not going to happen.
Chances of that ever happening are not going to happen.
Federal judges are entrusted with a lot of power and they're cloaked with massive immunities.
But Ben, let me ask you a question that I'm sure a lot of the people who are listening
right now and are watching are wondering.
Does this slow down the process?
If so, how much does the Department of Justice need to have access to these documents that
they told them to stop looking through in order to even make their case?
I personally believe it massively slows down the process because she said they can't do
the injunction is they can't conduct further investigations that are related to the documents.
And that is necessarily the investigation that they would do. If you get the documents,
naturally, you're going to ask questions of people like, how do these documents harm people?
There are missing folders. What was in the missing folders? Her injunction technically says
they can't ask in a time- criminal investigation what happened to missing documents in the folder. So I think
it will massively. Now, do they technically have enough information to indict based on what we know?
Yeah. But they want to conduct a careful, meticulous investigation. Right. And she
stopped them from doing that. So, yeah, I think it will delay the special master.
Look how long it took her to make a ruling from August 22nd to September 5th on this
issue alone, right?
It took her weeks.
So what do you think?
She said that they want her to submit a list of people who could be a special master.
Like, just think about the subset of people who could even look at these documents.
Like, how are they even going to find the right person who has the security clearance
and someone with the clearance clearance that could even be looking
through the documents in the first place. And that could take weeks to appoint and find.
Then that person's got to look through them. And then there could be disputes. And so that
could take us through 2023. We'll see what happens on the appeal. But again, this is why I'm fired
up. This is why this podcast is so important. I'm not disappointed though. I'm not discouraged at all by this. Like I have, as we get out of, you know, get out of labor day
and we head into this final stretch before the election, like now is when we sprint together.
And I'm so amped to sprint with you all. I'm amped up. Like this is just going to make me
triple down, quadruple down in the efforts right now. We'll
sleep after November, but right now we need all of you to get fired up with us. Let me just say,
we're not sleeping. You guys like, you see how many videos Ben and Jordy are putting out?
Like there's not a lot of time for sleep on this part. So all we ask is for you to push just as hard, okay? Because our democracy is here and these things matter. These things matter not for the crazy reasons that the MAGA people, not these bullshit culture war things, but because they actually affect people's lives on a daily basis. And on this Labor Day, I think we should wrap up the show by reminding you of the
true stakes of this all, because we had an amazing conversation a few months back with Mike Monroe.
Mike Monroe is the chief of staff for North America's Building Trades Unions, who represents
all the major unions. Go check it out on Wikipedia or whatnot. You will see all the unions that
they're associated with. And when we spoke with him, we asked him point blank.
And this is not a partisan guy.
This is a guy who is the union guy who wants workers to succeed.
We asked him, how did Trump, how did he actually hold up to his promises?
And how is Biden holding up to his promises with labor?
And he told us point blank how Trump completely broke every promise that he gave workers.
In fact, in fact, he thought
that maybe, you know what, maybe Trump would actually be okay for workers based on the rhetoric
that he was giving. But when push came to shove, Trump failed workers on a catastrophic level.
He broke his promises. He undermined them every step of the way. And President Biden,
in his first year alone, delivered for labor, in his first year alone.
And so much has happened since this interview that I'm sure that Mike Monroe could add.
But let's play this clip to celebrate the true meaning of Labor Day.
When you have someone like that, like a Trump, just so brutally lie to people,
and it's a vicious lie because he's playing with your family's life and your
livelihood. For him, it's a gimmick. Infrastructure week, we're building this,
we're doing that. To millions of Americans, what that means is, what type of dinner am I going to
put on my family's plate? And so when he so savagely lies to people like that, how do we message to people like what that is, what that truly means, and have people not be told one thing and then nothing materialized, right?
As I said, the anti-labor bans,
undermining the apprenticeship system
that has worked for a hundred years,
registered apprenticeship system,
infrastructure never materialized.
And then he told our leadership,
most notably Teamsters and others,
that he was going to protect their pensions.
None of that happened.
And in the first calendar year
of President Biden and Vice President Harris's administration, with Democrats control the House and a narrow majority in the Senate, they protected those pensions.
They've invested in infrastructure. They've restaffed the NLRB. Right. They've protected. They got rid of IRAPs, which was the assault on apprenticeship. I mean, in one year that moved. And that's what we communicate to our folks about.
Cloud out all the noise.
These things have tangible benefits to your life,
to your family's lives.
And this was done under this administration,
despite all the banners and the rallies
and the mastering of language and sort of propaganda.
Let's look at the results.
And that's where we find ourselves.
I mean, guys, I mean, doesn't that say it all right there and just lay out the stakes so
appropriately of what we're fighting for, what you're fighting for?
Couldn't agree with you more, Brett. Everybody, make sure you hit the subscribe button right now.
