I want to take a look at just the past week of former Trump advisors, former Trump lawyers speaking out against him or the incompetence of his team. And I think it's important that you hear the words from people who worked with Trump, who Donald Trump hired, who previously said very positive things about him when they were working
Starting point is 00:02:34 for him because they've recognized now how dangerous he is and how incompetent he is. And he's giving us a warning. So if you have friends or colleagues or co-workers who are on the fence and they go, yeah, Midas Touch, they're a pro-democracy network, but they criticize Trump a lot. Well, you can say, look, let's use the words, though, of what Trump's former inner circle are saying about him. Let's start with this. Let's start with Mr. Esper, Donald Trump's former secretary of defense. You don't get higher than the defense secretary. And here, Mark Esper says in no uncertain terms, Donald Trump is a threat to democracy. Play the
Starting point is 00:03:24 clip. Three years after the attack on the Capitol, I'm just curious, Mr. Secretary, do you view Donald Trump as a threat to American democracy? Well, first of all, good to be with you, Jim. It is a tragic day in our nation's history. And yes, I do regard him as a threat to democracy. Democracy as we know it, our institutions, our political culture, all those things that make America great and have defined us as the oldest democracy on this planet. White House lawyer, the person who would be representing Donald Trump on issues of disqualification clause, absolute presidential immunity. He was the chief White House lawyer, number one, the number one person. His name is Ty Cobb. And here's what Ty Cobb has to say, that Donald Trump is the biggest threat to democracy in America's history. And that Donald Trump's assertion of absolute presidential immunity is beyond dangerous.
Starting point is 00:04:33 And it's just also part of a plan of delay. Here, play this clip of Donald Trump's former top White House lawyer, Ty Cobb. Play the clip. I think you have to take Trump seriously because he poses the gravest threat to democracy that we've ever seen. On the other hand, I think his legal arguments are interposed solely for delay. I think as the government's lawyer and special counsel's lawyer argued today, that at the end of the day, it would be very scary if there's no accountability, as Trump's counsel has argued, for the types of conduct that have
Starting point is 00:05:14 been charged here when a president tries to prevent the peaceful transfer of power and uses the levers available to him to subvert the Democratic Republic and the electoral system. I think the lack of accountability that he desires, which Putin has, Ayatollah has, Xi has, as you allude to, I think that he may want an America that is like that. But the founders, when they crafted the Constitution, tried desperately and dutifully to make it plain that this was not going to be a country where we had a king. This was going to be a country where we had an accountable executive. Next, I want to show you Donald Trump's former lawyer, actually a fairly competent lawyer, someone by the name of Tim Parlatori, who, look, I want to be clear and I want to be fair.
Starting point is 00:06:10 On some issues, he still defends Donald Trump, not in the official capacity as a legal representative, but he's gone on some of the networks and on other issues where Donald Trump's being in serious legal jeopardy for his conduct. Tim Parlatori will go on and say things that I disagree with, but that's fine. We could have disagreements. What here, though, what Tim Parlatori says is Alina Haba, basically, is so incompetent. Donald Trump's brought on this incompetent team in the New York Attorney General civil fraud case. And he all but says that one of the main reasons that Donald Trump is going to get hit with a $370
Starting point is 00:06:54 million judgment, or probably more than that in the New York cases, not simply because Donald Trump deserves to be hit, but because of the incompetence also of Donald Trump's lawyers in the discovery process of just litigating the case and doing the basic blocking and tackling when it comes to what you're supposed to do in legal cases. Play this clip. Talk to me about the counsel that's there. Who is, do you think, you've been his attorney before, who's controlling this? I mean, is the dog wagging the tail or the tail wagging the dog? You know, when it comes to this case, I think that in large respect, it's been kind of
Starting point is 00:07:36 unled for a while. I mean, I know earlier on when Ronald Fischetti was on it, he was handling it appropriately. Of course, he unfortunately passed away. But with Alina Haba handling Discovery, that's not something where I think anybody was really at the wheel. And so now you get into this trial where it does seem to me to be kind of a combination of building a record for the appeal and putting out things into the media that are helpful to the campaign. Do you ever feel like money is just flying out of your account and you have no idea where it's going? Well, I know it's all of those subscriptions. Think about it. Between streaming services, fitness apps, delivery services, parenting apps. It's endless.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I'm guilty of this. So I use Rocket Money to help me find out what subscriptions I'm actually spending money on. And it was eye-opening. And I had them cancel the ones I didn't want anymore. Rocket Money is a personal finance app that finds and cancels your unwanted subscriptions, monitors your spending, and helps you lower your bills. I can see all of my subscriptions in one place, and if I see something I don't want, I can cancel it with a tap. I never have to get on the phone with customer service. They'll even try to get you a refund for the last couple of months of wasted money and negotiate to lower your bills for
Starting point is 00:09:06 you by up to 20%. All you have to do is take a picture of your bill and Rocket Money takes care of the rest. Rocket Money has over 5 million users and has helped save its members, get this an average of $720 a year with over $500 million in canceled subscriptions. Stop wasting money on things you don't use. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash MidasTouch. That's rocketmoney.com slash MidasTouch. Rocketmoney.com slash MidasTouch. You know, and I think what Parletori says there is, you know, is something that's worth noting as well, because as I always say, when we're talking about MAGA, it is fascism plus idiocracy. You probably have heard me say that before. MAGA equals fascism plus idiocracy. Then I also say, as I'll say now, thankfully, the idiocracy has exceeded the fascism. And Donald Trump also just surrounds himself because he believes he needs to
Starting point is 00:10:12 be the smartest person in the room, which is why he attacks scientists and the top actual legal minds and people can't work with him who are actually intelligent or even more intelligent than him, which is very easy to do, which that is disqualifying, yet alone being actually intelligent. Just if you're slightly more intelligent than him and he's not bright at all, he gets rid of you. You can't work with him. It's impossible. So the aspect of having these very incompetent people around him has very dangerous outcomes as well. And now Donald Trump is basically left with, you know, the Alina Habas and Cliff Robert and, you know, whoever. And Habas goes up, gives a closing argument the other day where she says, Donald Trump's just a human being.
Starting point is 00:11:06 He's a human being. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. That was part of her closing argument. And she also said, if it was fraud, why would he put it in writing? Why would he put anything in writing if it was fraud? That was one of the things that she said. And she goes, why would he hire one of the top accounting firms, Mazers, if he was going to commit fraud? Mazers had the disclaimer saying that they were relying on his data. Mazers testified. As the New York attorney general's team said in their closing, you haven't heard one scintilla, one shred of evidence that the valuations were accurate, that the numbers were correct. And then I want to show you this finally. This is Chris Christie, known Donald Trump for 22 years, worked for Trump, helped Trump with depositions.
Starting point is 00:12:03 This is what Chris Christie has to say about Donald Trump here. I want to play this for you right here. And again, everything I'm showing you all took place in the past week. The past week. Play this clip. Please understand this. I have known him well for 22 years. More than anybody else in this race has known him.
Starting point is 00:12:29 And I can promise you this. If you put him back behind the desk in the Oval Office and a choice comes and a decision is needed to be made as to whether he puts himself first or he puts you first, how much more evidence do you need that he will pick himself? And if that is what we have there, then people are going to remain angry, remain divided, and become even more exhausted than they are today. So now having shown you those clips, let me just show you what Donald Trump has said. In the past week, in the past week,
Starting point is 00:13:17 I can go back and show you things from two weeks ago, which are equally dangerous. Go back three weeks ago when he was quoting Hitler. I could go back four weeks ago when he was also quoting Hitler. I could go back five, six weeks. Let's just, again, focus on just this past week, what's been going down. Here, Donald Trump attacks NATO. Play this clip. What a second Trump term would mean. Would you be committed to NATO, for example, in a second Trump term? Depends if they treat us properly. Look, NATO has taken advantage of our country.
Starting point is 00:13:46 The European countries took advantage. I want to use the word starting with an S, but I don't want to do it because I see some young, very good looking children in the audience and I assume they're watching on television. But they took advantage of us on trade and then they took advantage of us
Starting point is 00:14:00 on our military protection. Of the 28 countries at the time, only eight countries were paid up. We were paying the difference. And I went to him, I said, if you don't pay, we're not going to protect you. And they said, do you mean that? I said, I mean that. And the next day, billions of dollars poured into NATO. The reason they have money right now to prosecute what they're doing with helping Ukraine is because of the money I got them. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:25 peace through strength. Mr. President, we appreciate your time. Thank you. Thank you for being here in Des Moines. So seems to justify Mark Esper's concerns right there, to say the least. Here, Donald Trump asked about his lawyer's argument that he could have ordered SEAL Team 6 to kill his political opponent and he'd have absolute immunity. And Donald Trump's like, yeah, should have absolute immunity for that. Play the clip. Do you agree with your lawyers what they said on Tuesday, that you should not be prosecuted or could not be prosecuted if you ordered SEAL Team 6 to kill a political opponent? Well, you're talking about a totally different case, the immunity. I say this, on immunity, very simple. If a president of the United States does not have
Starting point is 00:15:06 immunity, he'll be totally ineffective because he won't be able to do anything because it will mean he'll be prosecuted, strongly prosecuted perhaps, as soon as he leaves office by the opposing party. Here's Donald Trump bragging about or saying that he would like to see the economy crash in the next 12 months because that would be good for him. Seems to be exactly what Chris Christie was saying. He'd rather have the economy crash if it helps him. Just Chris Christie's words. Play the clip. When there's a crash, I hope it's going to be during this next 12 months because I don't want to be Herbert Hoover. The one president, I just don't want to be Herbert Hoover. And past week also, here's Donald Trump admitting that he made $8 million from China while he was in office by providing services to them while he was in office,
Starting point is 00:16:00 which is crime, violation of our constitution. Here, play the clip. And if I have a hotel and somebody comes in from China, that's a small amount of money. And it sounds like a lot of money. That's a small, but I was doing services for that. People were staying in these massive hotels, these beautiful hotels, because I have the best hotels. I have the best clubs. I have the best clubs. I have great stuff. And they stay there and they pay. I don't get $8 million for doing nothing. As Ben Wexler put it, it's pretty stunningly hilarious that Trump supporters were like,
Starting point is 00:16:32 impeach Biden because we're going to learn he took money from China and he's going to be on the Epstein list. And then within a week of each other, we learned Trump took money from China and was on the Epstein list. I'm Ben Micellis. This is the Midas Touch Network. Hit subscribe.
