Kevin McCarthy just gave a press conference where he announced that MAGA Republicans are launching an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. The MAGA Republicans will not be taking a vote on whether to launch this impeachment inquiry, almost certainly because they would lose that vote if such a vote was taken. MAGA Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy stated that the leaders of this impeachment inquiry will be House Oversight Chair and MAGA Republican James Comer, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, and MAGA Republican Jason Smith from the House Ways and Means Committee.

Starting point is 00:02:02 Let me play for you right now a brief portion of Kevin McCarthy's press conference, and then I want to show you other clips which show these MAGA Republicans stating they have absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Play the clip. Today, I am directing our House Committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. That's exactly what we want to know, the answers. I believe the president would want to answer these questions and allegations as well.

Starting point is 00:02:43 This effort will be led by Chairman James Comer at the Committee on Oversight, in coordination with Chairman Jim Jordan for Judiciary Committee, and Chairman Jason Smith on Ways and Means. So when an impeachment inquiry takes place, what is supposed to happen is that there is evidence. There is evidence of an impeachable offense. An impeachment inquiry is not supposed to be a fishing expedition simply to gather facts based on speculation and conjecture. But with the MAGA Republicans, their sole goal is to attack President Biden at any cost and undermine our democracy. Just moments before Kevin McCarthy gave that press conference, by the way, where he answered no questions at all, you had Matt Gaetz, MAGA Republican, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, MAGA Republican, who are at odds with each other in this weird MAGA Republican civil war, attacking each

Starting point is 00:03:45 other for who's responsible for pushing forward this incredibly frivolous impeachment inquiry. Matt Gaetz claims it was he who was responsible for it. Matt Gaetz states, when Speaker McCarthy makes his announcement in moments, remember that I was the one who pushed for this. And Marjorie Taylor Greene responds, correction, my friend. I introduced articles of impeachment against Joe Biden for his corrupt business dealings in Ukraine and China while he was vice president on his very first day in office. You wouldn't co-sponsor those.

Starting point is 00:04:20 I had to drag you kicking and screaming to get you to co-sponsor my articles on the border. Who's really been making the push? There is absolutely zero evidence, no evidence whatsoever about improper business dealings that President Biden at any point in his life had with Ukraine or China. Every single person who the MAGA Republicans claimed as a whistleblower has either been missing, dead, a spy for China. They've talked about things that took place while Donald Trump was in office. I want to play for you this clip right now. This is MAGA Republicans who will be leading this inquiry now. James Comer and Jim Jordan, when they were asked on Fox,

Starting point is 00:05:11 do you believe this is officially the Joe Biden bribery allegation? And do you believe you will be able to prove that? Their response is not, we have the evidence. They say, we hope so. Play this clip. Now, do you believe that this is now officially the Joe Biden bribery allegation? And do you believe that you will be able to prove that Jim Comer? I sure hope so. And I do believe that there's a lot of smoke and whether smoke, there's fire. We just heard testimony today that Joe Biden had lied to the American people. And just so you see the zero evidence at all and the approach that MAGA Republicans are taking. I just wanna show

Starting point is 00:05:56 you MAGA Republican Senator Chuck Grassley when he went on Fox a few months back and he said, we're not even really interested in whether the allegations against Biden are true. Play this clip. And we aren't interested in whether or not the accusations against Vice President Biden are accurate or not. We're responsible for making sure the FBI does its job. And that's what we want to know. Senator, let me stop you there.

Starting point is 00:06:24 You just said you read the document. Is that right? Yes. And that's what we want to know. Senator, let me stop you there. You just said you read the document. Is that right? Yes. And what did it say? Well, I'm not going to characterize it. This is from yesterday on CNN, where MAGA Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace was asked, isn't it supposed to, is there supposed to be some evidence when there's an impeachment inquiry? And Nancy Mace's response is, no, that's what the inquiry's for. We're just going to try to figure it out as we go. Play this clip.

Starting point is 00:06:52 The people deserve the truth and nothing but the truth. Isn't it supposed to be the evidence that leads you to pursue impeachment and impeachment inquiry? Well, that's what the inquiry is for. But there's already no investigations. I think that's where people are confused because it's not like there's no investigation happening. But we don't have Joe

Starting point is 00:07:06 Biden's bank records yet. And so one way to do that, my understanding, would be through an impeachment inquiry. So if that's what gets us those bank records, then I'm going to support it. And recall when Kevin McCarthy, a few weeks back, a month ago or so, went on Fox and Steve Doocy asked, have you found that Joe Biden's broken any laws? And what Kevin McCarthy said is, well, there's a lot of smoke. There's just a lot of smoke. Play this clip. People are looking in and it looks suspicious. It's more than looks suspicious. I understand. But given all the stuff you've uncovered so far, have you found Joe Biden broke any rules, any laws, or does it just look fishy? Well, it's more than looking fishy.

Starting point is 00:07:48 The family created companies when he was a VP. You get 1023 saying people had to pay them to get influence. We now see foreign governments have paid. If you create a company, why wouldn't you have an office? Why wouldn't you have an office? Why don't you create something? Why do you get paid by shell companies and forward it to other shell companies, then go down to pay family members that never work into it? None of it smells right. None of it is right. They talk about the big guy, but I believe firmly we have to have a constitutional reason of where we go, and we want to follow the facts wherever it takes us. Every day we're finding new facts.

Starting point is 00:10:26 deals perhaps. So it's called, you know, Rob Walker, who was in on all this stuff. Good friend. He's all over all over the laptop. So will this prompt you to do a impeachment inquiry? Well, you apparently don't follow me on Twitter because yesterday I laid out very, very clearly by July 6th because of the allegations from the IRS, because of the whistleblowers and the DOJ, Garland, what he is saying and what David Weiss

Starting point is 00:10:53 are saying privately are two different things. And if it comes true what the IRS whistleblower is saying, we're going to start impeachment inquiries on the attorney general. Okay. So let's see what an IRS so-called whistleblower who's saying, who's not really a whistleblower in the first place, when he was questioned by Democratic Congress member Krishnamoorthy. Play this clip. You were concerned about the complexities of the election cycle and potential delays that arose in connection with the election cycle. You said at page 23, and I remember there were always times where we were always on an impending election cycle. It was always the elections being brought up in early 2020. It was the presidential primaries.

Starting point is 00:11:39 Now, sir, Joe Biden was not the president at that time either, was he? I mean, the answer to your question is no, he was not. But I don't see where you referenced it in my, you know, page 23. You're talking about how the election cycle is delaying decisions by the prosecution. And it turns out that the delay in the election cycle was happening at a time when Joe Biden was not the president. I'm sorry, sir. That's in Special Agent Ziegler's transcript. That's why I couldn't find it. So Mr. Ziegler and you shared concerns about delays related to the election cycle. But at that time, Joe Biden was not the president. I believe at that time he was the nominee for president. But well he was not the president was he? It's just a simple

Starting point is 00:12:32 question sir. Can you rephrase the what time? Joe Biden was not the president in the presidential primaries in 2020. Correct that is correct. Sir, finally, Mr. Shapley, you said that warrants were ready as soon as April 2020 to begin searching for records, but actions weren't taken with regard to those warrants. Again, Joe Biden was not the president in April 2020, was he? So I'm confused by your line of questioning. We're talking about an election to which now President Biden was a part of. So he didn't have to be the president to have election meddling. No, but the question is this. Was he the president at that time in April 2020? It's been asked and answered. And what's the answer, sir? The answer is yes or no. Thank you. Thank you. I wheel back.

Starting point is 00:13:29 And then you have Marjorie Taylor Greene on her social media platform saying, the Democrats impeached President Trump for the exact same crimes committed by Joe Biden. Impeachment number one was a cover-up. We need an impeachment inquiry to lay out all the evidence for the American people to expose everyone who worked to shield the Bidens from their crimes. That's what they say, the Bidens, that's like a family. And then it says House Oversight Committee. This is what she is reposting. In 2018, this is the GOP House Oversight Committee. In 2018, Joe Biden publicly boasted about his central role in having Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired. By his own admission, Joe Biden said the removal of prosecutor General Shokin, the man leading

Starting point is 00:14:16 the investigation into Burisma, Hunter's cash cow, that's not even a factual statement, by the way. Viktor Shokin was in the pocket of Burisma. And if you want to go through, I don't know, a little something called evidence, when the MAGA Republicans in the House Judiciary Committee and the various committees interviewed the Hunter Biden business partner, Mr. Archer, what the business partner said was that Shokin being fired was not good for Burisma, was not good for us, was not good for Hunter Biden because he was under the control of Burisma's owner. The prosecutor was a corrupt pro-Putin prosecutor that not just Biden when he was the vice president,

Starting point is 00:15:06 the entire international community wanted the corrupt prosecutor gone who was undermining democratic institutions. He was undermining democracy. Sound familiar? Exactly what the MAGA Republicans are doing here to undermine democracy. Firing Shokin made it more likely that Burisma would be prosecuted. So that was bad for Hunter Biden. But don't let that get in the way of a MAGA Republican conspiracy. But what this really is all about is this. It's Donald Trump saying things like this. The Republicans in Congress, though well-meaning, keep talking about impeachment inquiry.

Starting point is 00:15:43 The guy got bribed. He paid off people. He wouldn't give $1 billion to Ukraine unless they got rid of the prosecutor. Biden is a stole, cone, crook. Do something about it. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And that's who runs the MAGA Republican Party today. Folks, they are devoid of evidence.

Starting point is 00:16:01 They are devoid for any care or concern about our democracy, and we need to call this behavior out. This is so pathetic, so disgraceful, so embarrassing to our nation.
