As the country prepares for President Trump's triumphant speech tonight, accepting the 2024 Republican nomination for president, Joe Biden is running as far as he can from the campaign trail. Regrettably, I was just on the phone with President Biden, and he shared his deep disappointment. at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events, as we all know,

and he just tested positive for COVID. So, of course, we understand that he needs to take the precautions that have been recommended. Do people still test for COVID? What year are we in? People are doing that? also Biden is fully vaccinated, which means that we can add another failed promise to the list. You're not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.

Biden also declined to wear a mask around his staff and supporters even after he announced that he had COVID. So anyway, I digress. I digress. President Trump was shot in the head and did not alter his campaign schedule in the slightest. Joe Biden contracted a mild cold and is now locking himself in his private home in Delaware until further notice. Trump survived an assassination attempt. Biden, I hope, will survive this bout of sniffles. But the Biden campaign is on life support if it isn't already in hospice. I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles show. And Joe Biden getting the sniffles. I'm not the one to make that comparison. Incredibly, it is the Democrats. It is some of President Biden's former staffers. who are drawing that comparison. Here's the question that I have on that. These two men are both elderly. Donald Trump is an elderly man who, for whatever reason, was given nine seconds to take a iconic photo op during an active shooter situation.

Weird situation, we'll figure that out one day. But his survival of that and bouncing right back and going right to his convention is being conveyed in the media world as a sign of strength. This current president of the United States is 81 years old and has COVID. Should he be fine in a couple of days? Doesn't that convey exactly the same thing? That he's strong enough older than Trump to have gotten something that used to really be fatal to people his age. So if he does fine out of it and comes back and is able to do rallies, isn't that exactly the same? It's not exactly the same.

It's not the same incident, but it's an elderly man. coming through out of an illness. It should. Okay, so you can see Jen Soki, as Joy Reed is on this crazy rand, you can see Jen Saki trying to keep the corners of her mouth from pulling up too much. First of all, Joy Reid begins. She says, I don't know why. This man was allowed nine seconds to take an iconic photograph after he had just had

part of his ear blown off and nearly had his brains blown out. I don't know why. I don't know what. It was all a setup. That's the insinuation, right? The insinuation is this was all a set up. The Trump somehow with the secret cabal of conservative Republicans who control the world or something, he conspired to have this shooter blast off the top part of his ear, but just narrowly because of the wind and the turn of his head miss his brain. And this was all in service of taking a photo with blood streaming down his face and an American flag waving behind him. And that's the insinuation. What other insinuation is Joy Reid making?

I don't know. So right off the bat, even if you had no familiarity with Joy Reid, you'd say, well, this lady is a little bit off her rocker. But then she actually goes for it. Then she actually says, look, Trump nearly had his head blown off two days ago. and then he went on the campaign trail. And Joe Biden has a mild cold that every single person on earth has had multiple times. So aren't those basically the same thing, you know, when you really think about it?

And you see Jen Saki looking at her just, what are you really? But then Jen Saki's got to go with it because she's got the same job as Joy Reid, which is to serve as a propagandist for Joe Biden. I mean, that was actually the official job description for Jen Saki. when she was the White House Press Secretary. She goes, yeah, sure, yeah, let's go with that. And even Joy Reid doesn't believe it. Because you heard her adding all of these caveats at the end.

No, look, I'm not saying it's the same incident, but look, what I'm saying is they're both old men and face challenges, you know? Yeah, that's true. I mean, the challenge from a sniper, courage under fire blowing off part of your head and the courage to maybe cough a little bit for a couple days. Different. It just requires different degrees of courage. Even the Democrats don't believe this.

But Joy Reid and Jen Saki are still promoting Biden. They are still living in the hope that Biden will remain the nominee. And is it because they think Biden's the best candidate? No, it's just the big split with the Democrats here is, Some Democrats believe you can't get rid of Joe Biden. I guess there are a handful of Democrats who believe that Joe Biden is still the best candidate in 2024. But even the ones who don't believe that, some think, well, there's no way to get rid of him. So I don't want to come out against the leader of my party and the sitting president, maybe the future president.

Then I'm going to lose my access. They're going to consider me an enemy. I'll be on the blacklist. So they're still pushing Biden and increasingly having to do rhetorical acrobatics to do it. They've got to compare an assassination attempt to COVID. But then there are many, if not more Democrats who are coming out and saying, it ain't Biden. Guys drop it. It can't be Biden. We are going to get this guy out. Don't forget, the Democratic National Convention is at the end of next month. But there are ballot deadlines. There's a ballot deadline in Ohio.

Meaning that, and we've been talking about this for months now, the Democratic Party might have to virtually nominate a candidate for president, even before the convention. And they might have to do that by July 21st. So now we're talking three days. The calls for Biden to step down are ramping up. John Carl, Jonathan Carl, who is a major liberal establishment reporter. He is the chief Washington correspondent for ABC News. Here's what he has to say is going on behind the scenes. The pressure from Democratic leaders for Biden to get out of the race is intensifying. In fact, one person who has been out there publicly defending Biden. told me just a short while ago, Biden is going to see the whole House of Cards come down soon. As for that meeting in Rojobith, Delaware, I am told that this was a one-on-one meeting, just the Senate leader and the president, and that Chuck Schumer forcefully made the case that it would be better for Biden, better for the Democratic Party, and better for the country if he were to bow out of the race.

And David, when I went to Schumer's office to ask them about, to tell them I was going to report this and tell you this tonight, absolutely. no denial from Senator Schumer's office. They only said this. Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus. In other words, the views of Democratic senators. I am also told that Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the House, has expressed similar views directly to the president. Hakeem Jeffries is a big player. Jonathan Carl, for that matter, is a big player as a liberal establishment journalist. But Chuck Schumer. Chuck Schumer is one of the most powerful players in the Democrat Party and his office isn't even denying that he is going to Biden's house,

Biden's private residence where Biden is locking himself up until further notice, indefinitely now, because he's got a case of the sniffles. And he's going to say, hey, Joe, you got to get out. You've totally lost the confidence of the Democratic Party. You got to go. The question now is, will Biden take the off ramp until now he has not? reason he is not is because there's been no incentive. What does Joe Biden gain by getting out of the race? He's a million years old. All he wants to do is be president. He's wanted to be president

since he was in the womb. What does he get out of it? He's already been mocked and humiliated as having dementia and having been a failed president. So what does he get? At least if he sticks around, he gets to be a two-term president, even if he remains a terrible president, even if he's in deeply unpopular. At the very least, people will say, oh, he's a two-termer, you know, he got re-elected. He won. He won. He did, he accomplished as much as one can at the ballot box in electoral politics. Now, however, Joe Biden, for the first time since the mutiny came up, is hinting at an off-ramp. We'll get to that in one second. First, though. Just a couple days ago, I sat down with Donald Trump Jr. for his first, uh, long,

interview after the assassination attempt on his father and the miraculous moment that saved President Trump's life. Check out his teaser. I got a call, you know, 615, whatever it was, your dad's been shot. I got a hold of my father and, you know, surprisingly, you know, calm in the hospital. And, you know, by then I'd already gotten seen the video and sort of him coming up defiant in the face of actual fire. It was sort of amazing and he just sort of said, you know, hey man, you're the, you're the biggest badass I know. because I genuinely believe that. As for the 46th president, Biden has for the first time given the vision of a scenario in which maybe he would consider not running in 2024. This in an interview with BET. Is there anything that you would look to, you personally, not anybody else, not other pundits, not even perhaps family members, that you would look to to say, if I see that, I will reevaluate? If there had some medical condition that emerged,

if somebody, if the doctors came to me and said, you got this problem, that problem. But I made a serious mistake in the whole debate. And look, when I originally ran, you may remember it. I said I was going to be a transitional candidate. And I thought that I'd be able to move from this, just pass it on to someone else. But I didn't anticipate things getting so, so, so divided. And quite frankly, I think the only thing age brings a little bit of wisdom. And I think I've demonstrated that I know how to get things done.

for the country in spite of the fact they're told we couldn't get it done. But there's more to do, and I'm reluctant to walk away from that. So, he still obviously wants it. He's still fighting for his political life. But for the first time, he's setting himself up and off-ram. He's looking ahead and he's saying, wow, we're playing this game of chicken here.

It's me and the Democrat establishment. And the Democrat establishment is saying, Joe, if you don't drop out, we're going to make you unelectable. And Joe is looking at the Democrats. He says, hey, Democrats, if you don't get on board, I'm going to be unelectable and you're going to lose all your power. So who's going to blink first time? I'm not saying Joe Biden totally blinked, but his eyes are half closed here. His eyes are always half closed because he's falling asleep because he's obviously way too old to be president. But this is the first time where he says, look, if I were diagnosed with some medical condition,

Don't forget, White House visitor logs have shown that a Parkinson's specialist has visited the White House now, what, some 10 times in the last 20 months? Or vice versa. Was it 20 times in 10 months? He's been there a lot. This is a neurologist who specializes in Parkinson's who keeps showing up to the White House. Is he showing up to the White House? He's the deputy assistant, deputy assistant secretary, secretary wants to see a doctor and doesn't want to take a walk to the medical center? No. Obviously, these visits are for the president. And we know that Biden has seen a neurologist on at least three occasions, as Green Jump Year told us, but initially the White House lied. Initially, the White House tried to say that he had only seen a neurologist in the context of his annual checkup. Now we know that isn't true,

because the checkup was in February of last year, and he saw a neurologist in January. And maybe again in February, maybe again in March. And he's seen a neurologist, recently again. So is that what we're talking about? Or is the medical condition COVID? COVID's the catch-all. Sorry. All right, folks. I got COVID. I'm going to drop out. That's the first thing you notice. Second thing, he says, I ran to be a transitional candidate. Here again, we see an off-ram. Look, Joe, look, folks. Come here, Jack. It was always the plan for me to only serve one term and to be a transitional candidate.

But then this poses a problem because if the plan was always for him to only serve one term, then why has he been running for president again? And why has he resisted calls to drop out of the race? Well, he gives you an answer there. He says, because Jack, I didn't expect things to get so, so divided. So that's what kept him in the race. So I'm not saying in reality, in reality, he wants to hold on to power until they drag him out on a stretcher. but in the narrative that Biden is constructing for himself,

there's no way I'm dropping out of the race. You're getting out, buddy. Okay, look, I might get out if I were diagnosed with some serious medical condition. But look, I ran to be a transitional candidate. Okay, if you're a transitional candidate, then get out of the race. No, no, but you see, things are so divided. Yeah, they're divided because of you because you're a terrible president. And that's why I've got, we still have to get the job done.

I've gotten results for the American people. What results? So you're seeing this constant push and pull. You don't know. He hasn't settled. He hasn't accepted that the Democrats want him out. He knows that time is running out. He knows they might win now.

And so he's got to give himself some kind of an off ramp. But I think in that guy's mind, he is still running in 2024. He's feeling the pressure and he's hearing the Chuck Schumer and he's listening to Hakeem Jeffries. and he's feeling that pressure, but I think he's still holding on for re-election. Now, if he did not have COVID, and I don't know, maybe Biden has COVID, he's not wearing a mask. So if he had COVID, he should be wearing a mask, right? And I thought he had all this vaccine. So he shouldn't he just not contract COVID?

Anyway, if he didn't have COVID, he would need to get it because Biden needs to cancel his speeches. And he needs to cancel his speeches because he sounds like this. Also in Las Vegas, you know, he just, he just canceled the rest of the Vegas tour, but, but speaking in Las Vegas was just a couple days ago at the NAACP, this is what we're hearing from President Biden. I know. I know you say, Joe, you may not have a Congress. Well, guess what? You all told me I couldn't pass the Inflation Reduction Act. You all told me I couldn't face it. Anyway, we did. We're going to bring rents down. As I said, we're going to build two million affordable homes. And cap rent increases a 5% of year so corporate landlords can't, God, anyway, I don't want to get going. I'm going to get very upset. But there's gouging America.

By the way, not only saves lives, it will save taxpayers just what I did on the first round on dealing with Medicare. It saves the taxpayer $160 billion. Because they don't have to pay these exorbitant. crisis. Today, anyway. Anyway. He's using a teleprompter. He's not even, if you were going off the top of his head, and he's a million years old,

and he's got COVID or whatever, and he's got almost certainly some more serious neurological condition, and he loses his train of thought every once or, every, every, every, and he saw anyway, like I just did. Okay, you forgive that. He's using a teleprompter here, and he's still losing his train of thought. And he's still digressing. He's still diverting. He's still just falling apart.

He's physically falling apart. So they've got to get him off the trail. Maybe he does have COVID. Don't we all have COVID like every three months now or something? It seems like COVID is just constantly going around. But the problem is obviously much deeper than COVID. There is a chance that you don't see this guy on the campaign trail again. The dates are just coming upon us very, very quickly.

We're not all that far out from the DNC. and were days out from the deadline for the Ohio ballot. At the RNC, this was given by a 98-year-old World War II veteran who shows up there in uniform, he's got his cap on, and the whole speech is worth watching. But there was one moment in particular that I think spoke to our political moment.

spoke to the reinvigorated, re-clified vision of conservatism and made a really important point about American history and about all history. It hurts my heart to see what our current president and vice president have done to the country I love so well. They humiliated us in Afghanistan again. we push around in China. Terrorists run wild in the Middle East and they let our own southern border get overrun.

America, people say, people is, America is an idea. But I believe America is much more than that. America is our home. Love this. First of all, This guy is 98 years old. He's pushing 100.

He's not a professional politician or anything like that. He's got, at least according to chronology, he's got some years on our sitting president who has spent his entire life talking in public. And this guy is much more articulate, much more compelling, obviously much more with it. And even putting senility aside, the senility of the current president, this guy has far greater insight. into American history and politics. It was a beautiful, beautiful speech from this World War II veteran. With that beautiful point there at the end, America is much more than an idea. And this is a big theme of the RNC. This is a big theme of the J.D. Vance pick for Vice President. This is a big theme of the reinvigorated and reclarified vision of conservatism that we've seen emerge over the last five or ten years.

It's an aspect of conservatism that I have been vociferously promoting because I think it's a correction to a bunch of liberal abstraction nonsense that we've heard for about half a century, a little more than half a century now. There are people who want to convince you that America is only an idea. We're not a people. We're not a place. We don't have tradition. We don't have history. We don't have borders. We're nothing.

We're just floating in outer space, not even in outer space. Beyond the physical world, America is just this amorphous, a historical idea, and that is a bunch of BS. America is animated by ideas, just as all nations are animated by ideas. And there are particular ideas that animate America. Of course, that's true. But America is people. If you took America today, 330 million people, and you had all the people, and you just replaced them with totally new people, but you still had the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, you would not have the same country. You would have a totally different country.

If you, think about it another way, if you took all the American people, 330 million people, and you put them in the steps of Mongolia, but it's the same people, you would have a different country. If you radically altered or replaced the people, the place, the prime figures in the development and the cultivation of the country, If you replace these things, you would have a different country because countries, politics, history, take place in time and space. We are incarnate. The world has real flesh and stuff to it. It's not just abstract ideas.

J.D. Vance, accepting the vice presidential nomination, made the same point. You know, one of the things that you hear people say sometimes is that America is an idea. And to be clear, America was indeed founded on brilliant ideas like the rule of law and religious liberty, things written into the fabric of our constitution and our nation. But America is not just an idea. It is a group of people with a shared history and a common future. It is, in short, a nation.

Now, it is part of that tradition, of course, that we welcome newcomers. But when we allow newcomers into our American family, we allow them on our terms. Here, here, here, here. I love this point. He then ties it in with immigration, which is relevant to the conversation. But even just that first point, we're a people with a shared history and a shared future. We have a common future. and you can't you can't just replace the geography or the borders or the people or anything really.

It's all it's real stuff. Okay. Our nation is not just the Declaration of Independence. It's not just the Constitution. It's not it's real. We're a nation. We're a nation. I was already elated by the J.D. Vance pick.

I am now three times as elated. if it was possible to be so, though I would have expected nothing less. A beautiful speech, clearly a focus of the RNC, because you're hearing it out of the mouths of multiple speakers. You're hearing it from the young guns. How old is J.D. Vance? He's 12. No, he's a little older than I am. But still, he's a young vice presidential candidate, certainly compared to the presidents in the race. And you're hearing it from a 98-year-old World War II veteran who's accumulated a lot of wisdom over his life. And you're hearing the same point.

We're a nation. We're a real people with a real history, and we have to recognize that, or we're not going to have very much of a future at all. JD's speech was good. It was really, really good. The line that probably went most viral is when J.D. talked about his mother.

If you read his book, his best-selling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, you'll know that J.D. Vance's mother struggled with addiction and all sorts of problems, when J.D. was a kid. He was raised largely by his grandmother, Ma Ma'am, I think, or me, ma. I didn't grow up in the same area, so I don't remember the precise name for grandmothers down there. But she's a major figure in the book. And you kind of wonder, well, what happened to J.D.'s Mother? Well, J.D.'s mother was there in the audience. After all those difficulties growing up, watching her son accept the nomination for vice president.

Our movement is about single moms like mine, who struggle with money and addiction, but never gave up. And I'm proud to say that tonight my mom is here, 10 years clean and sober. I love you, Mom. And you know, Mom, I was thinking it'll be 10 years officially in January of 2025. And if President Trump's okay with it, let's have the celebration in the White House. Great, great line, really good idea, frankly. very powerful. Why is that line so powerful? It's powerful because it addresses multiple major political problems in our country, all just to say, hey, love you mom, you're clean and sober now 10 years. Let's celebrate that in the White House. It recognizes the opioid crisis that Joe Biden has allowed

to explode. He's allowed it to explode because he's opened up our border primarily. So this poison flows into the country. I know people who have been killed from this. I bet you listening, I bet virtually every single one of you listening knows someone who has been killed because of the opioid crisis and the fentanyl crisis and the drug crisis broadly, or at least knows someone who knows someone. At least every single person in the country, I think, knows someone who knows someone. So it addresses that, this major drug crisis. How else has Biden exacerbated that? Because the Democrats have weak drug policies. They have weak immigration policies. They have weak crime policies generally, but especially on drugs, they'll let the drug dealers back out in the streets if they arrest them

at all. So it speaks to that. Total neglect by the Democrat elite and Joe Biden of a major issue that's actually killing our friends and our family members. It also speaks to a class divide. It used to be that the Republican Party was painted as the party of rich Uncle Pennybags and the are the party of the working man. This RNC made clear that is just not true. You got the head of the teamsters showing up. You got a union boss showing up for the Republicans, not the Democrats. Meanwhile, the Democrats have taken the latte-sipping limousine liberal caricature all the way to its extreme, to its conclusion. They seem to have nothing in common with the working man anymore. They'd rather talk about the rights of transgender Zimbabwean

children at some academic conference than address any of the immediate concerns of the working class, who they call irredeemable and deplorable and who they have said, or at least implied, ought to just die off. Speaks to that. J.D. Vance came from very, very difficult circumstances. And then he ended up in college. He ended up at the top law school in the country. He ends up in the Marines. he ends up being very successful in venture capital. He ends up a member of the United States Senate. Now he's the vice presidential nominee and very likely vice president starting in 2025. And then what it speaks to that to me was so beautiful about JD's speech was this persistent assault on family that we've been seeing for the last several decades from the Democrats.

The Democrats are doing everything they can to attack the family, to take away the rights of parents to educate their kids, to encourage divorce, to split up families, to redefine family to pretend that marriage is something other than what it has always been and always really will be. A new assault on marriage that we've seen just in the past few years to deny that mothers matter, that babies need their mothers. Now a man or two men can go out to the baby store and just buy a baby, purchase an egg from a mother, rent another woman's womb,

and then create a child for the express purpose of denying that child his mother, a direct assault just on moms. The relationship between a kid and his mom, it's a very important relationship. And you see all of that, all of that brought together in J.D.'s speech, along with grace and forgiveness and reconciliation. J.D. and his mother clearly didn't have a great relationship for a long time. Now it's together. And then the mothers overcome the addiction. you know, that can do spirit in America, the ability to actually overcome obstacles to practice virtue, to live a good life. And to say, that's not just going to be a personal triumph, it's going to be a political triumph for all of us, because we're going to celebrate it in

the people's house. We're going to celebrate it in the White House in January. Beautiful, pitch-perfect speaking to issues that really, really matter to Americans. The regular old political issues that we debate on TV and then and then even more than that maybe the issues that stir our hearts of which we're not always totally conscious. Great point. pithy and true. There were other other speeches, other good speeches at the RNC last night. You know, they churn these speeches. The speeches are each like five minutes. So you get a lot of people coming through there.

But I thought it was a classy move and good for the party that President Trump's rivals from the Republican primary were invited to speak. That's Ron DeSantis and that is Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley, who made it in. She lasted until at least Super Tuesday. She was the last big competitor in the race. Here is Nikki's message for the RNC.

America has an amazing ability to self-correct. In this moment, we have a chance to put aside our differences and focus on what unites us and strengthens our country. Let us join together as a party. Let us come together as a people, as one country, strong and proud. let us show our children and the world that even on our worst day, we are blessed to live in America. Okay, all good stuff. There's nothing particularly controversial here, nothing particularly objectionable as far as I'm concerned. I thought it was a good speech from Nikki Haley. Ron DeSantis also got up there, who was discussed as really a potentially potent rival to President Trump, though his campaign never really.

made it all that far. Still a very good governor, a very popular governor. Here is what he had to say. My fellow Republicans, let's send Joe Biden back to his basement and let's send Donald Trump back to the White House. Life was more affordable when Donald Trump was president. Our border was safer under the Trump administration and our country was respected when Donald Trump was our commander-in-chief.

Our enemies do not confine their designs to between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. We need a commander-in-chief who can lead 24 hours a day and seven days a week. America cannot afford four more years of a weekend at Bernie's presidency. So from DeSantis, you get a little bit more fire. He's a tough guy. He uses stronger rhetoric, just as we saw in the primary. Ron DeSantis was running more in the Trump lane than in the other lanes that were available. Nikki Haley was running a little bit more in the centrist, moderate lane.

But in any case, the upshot of both of their speeches was exactly the same, which is the party's got to unify. We've got one nominee. His name is Donald Trump. We've got to make sure that guy goes back to the White House. the current document gets kicked out of the White House. I think this is great. I am, I'm not shocked that I saw some Republicans complaining about

their being given speaking slots at the RNC, because Republicans complain about everything. Conservatives love few things more than complaining. But I don't understand the complaints. The GOP does need to unify. That's just a fact. We need to do even more than unify. We need to bring other people into our united coalition, even people who aren't usually Republicans, in order to win.

That's the purpose of a convention. The immediate purpose of a convention is to nominate someone for office. The only slightly broader purpose of the convention is to get everyone, get as many people as possible, really excited to vote for that candidate, to get that candidate into office. That's what it's for. So, yeah, I want the Ronda Santis part of the GOP to be on board with the team in 2024. Yeah, of course I do. Yeah, I want the Nikki Haley wing of the GOP. I understand.

There are some people who they're miffed at Ronda Santis for challenging Trump. I get it. Or there's some people in the Republican Party who don't like Nikki Haley because they disagree with her on some issue or some other issue. Okay, whatever, fine. We got to win, right? We got to bring these people. had, this is what I was saying about Amber Rose when the Republicans were complaining about Amber Rose because she said and done all sorts of naughty, terrible things.

Had Amber Rose gotten up there at the RNC and said, we need to support abortion and we need to promote pornography and we need to do all sorts of bad stuff as Republicans? I would have objected to the speech, of course. But what did she say? She gets up there. She goes, hey, I thought Trump was bad. And the media told me Trump was bad. but my dad said that Trump is good, and now I realize my dad was right.

Her speech was dad was right. That is about as conservative of you as you could possibly imagine. And it's pretty basic stuff. Hey, if you look like me, listen, I know Republicans don't generally do well with the face tattoo community, but, you know, if you look like me and you're not usually part of the GOP coalition, vote Republican. Great, I'm in. Sign me up.

Cool. That's great. Okay. Some Nikki Haley supporters really don't want to be. vote for Trump and Nikki Haley's getting up there and saying, hey, you should do it anyway. We got to unite. Some Ronda Santis supporters who in many ways are probably more ideologically aligned with Trump, but they don't like how nasty the campaign got. And maybe they want to stay home. And Ronda Santos gets up there. He says, hey, vote for Trump. Even if you don't like Trump and you

do like me, I'm telling you, please, if you like me vote for Trump. Good stuff. Good stuff, guys. That's what it's for. The broad purpose of the convention is to ring out every single vote we can and win. Now, speaking of winning, there's a Home Depot employee who was just fired for posting on social media that she wished the shooter on Saturday had been a better shot and had succeeded at murdering Trump. And we know this because this Home Depot employee was just approached at work by some guy with a cell phone camera. Are you? Yeah. Okay, from Cayuga. And you, you're? think that the shooter should have been a better shot?

Is that what you posted on Facebook? You think that the shooter should have been a shooter, huh? I am at work. Yeah, I think that's pretty messed up. Pretty anti-American, if you ask me. As a veteran, I'm disgusted.

What have you provided to this country? Huh? I'm sorry. This is ridiculous. You are ridiculous. And I'm making you famous. Okay. I'm not You heard I've censored out the woman's name.

I don't want to make her any more infamous than she already is. And the reason why is she's a Home Depot employee. She's a woman. I'm not saying she's elderly or anything like that, but she's not a teenager in her 20s. You know, she's a woman who is just working her job. It's a tough job. It's a job where you don't get a lot of thanks all the time.

And this guy shows up to her work. to try to destroy her life. I don't know what bills she's got to pay. I don't know what her financial situation is. And you can see she gets kind of nervous in the video. She gets, I'm at work. She doesn't know how to handle this. Why?

Because she's not a public figure. And so I find the whole thing really, really distasteful to go after some private citizen who's working a tough job for not a lot of pay and to try to ruin her life. I just find it distasteful. I find it very distasteful that she said, whether joking or seriously, I wish the, I wish the shooter had succeeded at murdering the president. I obviously find that distasteful, too.

I guess the reason that I wouldn't encourage this kind of thing is she's a private citizen. Now, the only caveat to that is, and the only point that this guy has, as he's going to film her, is that she has made herself a public figure. And she's made herself a public figure by posting on social media. she's not aware of that, which is why, again, I'm still broadly against doing this to people. I'm still broadly against going up to ostensibly private citizens and trying to ruin their lives because of something they posted on Twitter or Facebook or something, making them really famous or infamous. She's not aware, and most people are not aware, that social media makes everyone famous.

You know that prediction in the future? Everyone will have 15 minutes of fame? Well, it's much easier to have your 15 minutes of fame right now because you can just do it yourself with a cell phone camera. This guy is going to have 15 minutes of fame too for exposing this woman giving her 15 minutes of fame. I don't think she understood that. I don't think most people understand that.

When you post on social media, you are engaging in a public act, in a political act. You are making yourself a public figure. You are opening yourself up to the dangers that public figures open themselves up to, which is harassment, sometimes physical assault or even, you know, someone tries to come out and kill you, and financial vulnerabilities, that someone's going to go and try to make you lose your job.

So there have been a couple attempts to cancel me and destroy my career. But, you know, that's kind of baked into the equation here. I'm a guy with a political show who goes out and gives speeches and campaigns and does all that sort of thing, okay? So it's all baked in. But if you're just a woman working at Home Depot, trying to make ends meet, in a tough economy. You're especially vulnerable. And so I find that really, really distasteful.

And one way to protect against it, one, is to have a little bit of grace and to know the occasion for all of us to keep in mind. But two, for everyone to recognize, your acts are going to be increasingly political because our private lives are becoming increasingly public. Okay, today is Theology Thursday.
