Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor Podcast. I'm your host, Rob Dial. Okay, so what I'm going to be talking about today is it's time to pivot. It's time to pivot for pretty much everybody out there, for many people out there. And the way I like to think of it is this, you're like a sailor, right? If you're a sailor, the sailors have to change the sails with the wind. If a sailor decided that they were just going to keep their sail in the exact same place and they weren't going to move it, no matter how much the wind ended up changing, because that's just the way it's always been. That's the way
Starting point is 00:03:02 they always want it to be. Then guess what? That sailor is not going to go very far. Part of being a sailor is changing with the winds, changing the sails depending on where the winds are coming from. And I want to tell you this. If you're resisting change at this point in time, this is the worst time in the world, probably in the history of your life, to resist change. Now, here's what I will say. I don't think that it's anywhere near,
Starting point is 00:03:25 it's not an Armageddon moment. So I don't want to put it as this is an Armageddon moment and humans might die off, any of those things. I don't see it as that drastic. But what I do see it as is that the world is shifting and this coronavirus is forcing the shift. And so if you're smart, you want to try to get ahead of the shift if you possibly can. So it's time for you to shift, aka pivot. And if you're stressed out or you're anxious right now, I want to tell you this, your anxiety and your stress will be in direct proportion with the amount that you're resisting the way that the world actually is.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Let me say that again. Your stress and anxiety that's happening to you right now will be in direct proportion to the amount that you're resisting the way that the world is. Let me give you an example. If you're really stressed out because you just lost your job, well, you know, I'm sorry about that. I have compassion for you in losing your job. But if you lost your job, there's nothing you can do to regain your job. So if you are stressed out and you're anxious about it, it's because you're actually resisting regain your job so if you are stressed out and you're anxious about it it's because you're actually resisting the way that the world is what do you need to do you need
Starting point is 00:04:30 to pivot and go okay i can accept it my job is gone but i need to figure out a way to how to make money now and you need to pivot and figure out a way and become resourceful in these uncertain times. And here's what I believe, if you want me to be honest with you, I believe that in the long run, the coronavirus will be a blessing to mankind. I think that it will be a blessing and it's hard to see right now. It's always hard to see the blessing when you're going through the hardest times in your life. You know, when my father passed away, I wasn't stoked about it. I wasn't like, this is fucking awesome. That never went through my head. Right. But now 18, 19 years down the road, I'm like, that was really hard when I went through it. But it was actually, even though it was the worst day of my life, it was also the best day of my life because so many
Starting point is 00:05:18 changes in my own mindset and in my own life came from that. So I think in the long run, the coronavirus will be a blessing for mankind. It is showing us all of the environmental problems that we've been turning a blind eye to. It's been showing us all of the problems with our finances. It's been showing the problem with our economy. It's been showing so many different problems that are now have a spotlight on them. And I think that in order for us to take the blessing out of it, to take the lesson out of it, is we need to sit down with a pen and paper and actually try to extract that lesson from it. It is showing us all of the holes in all of our systems. It's showing us the holes in our economy. It's showing us the holes in our medical systems.
Starting point is 00:06:00 It's showing us the holes in everything that we do. And I think that for you and me as well, it is showing us the holes in our own lives. And there's three extremely important things that I want you to focus on in order to keep your life in balance, but also to actually grow from this time. There's three things that we're going to cover today. The first one, and probably the most important one that I want you to focus on is your health. If you are worried about the coronavirus, first off, just so you know, there's a pretty good chance you're not going to die from the coronavirus. Let's just put that on the table. I hope that you don't. I hope that nobody that you know does, but there's a pretty good chance that you won't. 98% of people are not going to die from it. So if you have stress and
Starting point is 00:06:43 anxiety about, oh my God, I might die. Everybody that I know and love might die. It's okay. It's not, it's probably not going, it's not going to happen. Not, this is not going to knock out the entire population, 7.5 billion people on the earth. So we could take a deep breath and say, no big deal. Okay, now we're not going to die. Now what? I would use this as a challenge to find the holes in your health. So if you're worried about potential death, if you're worried about getting sick, why not for the next 30 days, be laser focused on having the best, best health that you ever have in your entire life. How about you don't drink any alcohol for the next 30 days? Why do I say that? Because alcohol lowers your immune system.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Okay, so why not, you know, why don't we try to do as many things we can to not lower our immune systems, not smoke cigarettes, not do anything like that, but to actually try to strengthen our immune system. What about what time you wake up? Maybe you should make sure that you get eight hours of sleep, seven and a half hours of sleep every single night if you're not getting enough sleep because you know that when you get more sleep, your immune system is better. How about working out? What does your workout routine look like? What if you worked out every single day and you might go, oh, but I can't
Starting point is 00:07:50 go to the gym because the gyms are closed down. You could still work out. You don't have to go to the gym to work out. You could do at-home workouts. What about vitamins? What are the vitamins that you know that you should be taking that you haven't been? If you're in America, run to CVS or run to Walgreens or run to the grocery store and get vitamin C, get echinacea, get zinc, get the multivitamins you should have been taking for the past 20 years or whatever it is that you need, right? What about juicing? Can you start juicing? Can you be able to, if you have a juicer, maybe start buying more fruits and vegetables. Stop, you know, try going vegan for the next 30 days and see what happens. If you're
Starting point is 00:08:23 worried about your health, why don't you make health your focus then? Don't focus on what you don't want. Focus on what you do want, which is perfect health. And when you focus on that, ask yourself, what do I need to do to have this perfect health? Then how can I focus on it every single day and make a checklist of all of the things that you need to do? All right, I probably need to give up soda and I need to drink a gallon of water every
Starting point is 00:08:44 single day. Okay, boom. Put that on your checklist. What else that you need to do. All right, I probably need to give up soda and I need to drink a gallon of water every single day. Okay, boom. Put that on your checklist. What else do you need to do? And so if I were you, I would get a pen and paper and I would ask yourself this question. Where are the holes in my health? Pause me if you need to. Where are the holes in my health and what do I need to do to focus on my health and my family's health to make sure it is the best that it possibly can be so that we don't get the coronavirus, so that we can fight it, right? So let's build the perfect health for the next 30 days. Next thing I think about, so that's number one is health. Number two, the second thing that I think about is your mindset in these moments. You know, why don't you use this to start meditating more, to start reading more, to starting that business
Starting point is 00:09:24 that you've always wanted to start, to starting that business that you've always wanted to start, to learning that skill that you've always wanted to skill. Guys, the skill that you've always wanted to learn. YouTube and Google exist. You can learn anything that you've been wanting to learn. And guess what? If you have free time because you're not going into the office, let's try to learn that new skill. Let's try to build that business that you've been too afraid to build because of the fact that you didn't have enough time or because, you know, you already had this other job that was taking up all of your time. You didn't want to pull away from it. Well, that might not exist anymore. You might have more free time. Okay. So let's talk about your mindset. What else? What are you doing with
Starting point is 00:09:57 the negative thoughts that come into your head? Are you replacing them with the positive thoughts? Are you sitting down and asking yourself every single morning, what can I be grateful for? Are you surrounding yourself with the right people and getting rid of the people who aren't supporting this iron mind that you're trying to grow? So ask yourself the question, write it down. Where are the holes in my mindset? And what is the routine that I can build to build the perfect mindset in these times? Because your mind affects your body. There's proof of it, scientific proof. It's called the placebo effect. People who think they're healthy or that a sugar pill is curing them actually cure themselves. 33% of people who think that a sugar pill that
Starting point is 00:10:36 does absolutely nothing to them cures them actually cure themselves from whatever it is. And in many clinical studies, the placebo effect actually outperforms the actual drug. What does that mean? That means that people are actually healing themselves with their minds. So how strong is your mind right now? Don't go on social media. Don't look at the news. Be in control of every single little tiny bit of information that comes into your brain, just the same way that you're going to be in control of every single bit of nutrition that comes into your body as well. So that's number two is mindset. And the third thing that I think is extremely important to focus on right now is money. How do you make your money? Do you love
Starting point is 00:11:13 your job? Do you hate your job? Do you not have a job anymore? How are you going to start making money? How many streams of income do you have? If you're putting all of your eggs in one basket and you only have one stream of income, this is shining a spotlight on the fact that you can't rely on just one source of income. The average millionaire has seven sources of income. I'm not saying that you need to get seven, but can you at least diversify a little bit? That's like putting all of your money into one stock. We all know that that is the worst idea. You have to diversify your stocks just in case one company fails, right? Well, you have to diversify how you make money just in case one of those streams of income disappears. So start thinking about that. Do you need to start making other sources of income? Do you love what you do or do you hate it? Maybe this is a time for you to make a change,
Starting point is 00:12:04 for you to figure out how to make money online, for you to figure out how to make money online, for you to figure out how to become that coach that you've always wanted to become, to be the life coach, to be the painting coach, or to be the wellness coach, or to be the fitness coach, or to grow your Instagram following and start inspiring people in some sort of way, whatever it is that you wanna do.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Do you love what you do or do you not? If you don't, then you should try to use these times, these uncertain times, the extra free time that you have instead of wasting it, you know, watching TV, going through Netflix. How can you use this time to be more productive? Think about that. What about spending money? How are you spending money? Are you regretting some of the purchases that you've made, the unnecessary purchases because you thought, you know what, it's always going to be this good. And now you realize two months down the road, oh, I didn't even realize this was coming up. So how are you spending your money? How about saving your money? Do you need to get better at saving money? Could you start educating yourself
Starting point is 00:12:56 on how to be more financially responsible? And then how about making money? How can you make more money? How can you get better at making money so that you can have more freedom and also have more security with your family? And then write down, ask yourself this question, where are the holes in my money making abilities, in my money saving abilities, in my money spending abilities? Where are all of the holes? So those are three questions I have for you that I want you guys to go through. Where are the holes in my health and how can I build perfect health? Number two, where are the holes in my mindset and how can I build the perfect mindset? And number three, where are the holes in my money and how can I fill those holes over this time that we happen to be quarantined or locked down or whatever it
Starting point is 00:13:36 is that you happen to be in? Those are the three things that I want you to focus on. And I promise you, if you focus on those really hard for the next 30 days, you will come out of this, whatever it is, whether you're on lockdown, whether you have to stay in your house, whether you're not on lockdown, whether you're fired, whether it is that you're working from home, you will come out of this coronavirus a better person than you went in with a more stable foundation and a better trajectory of your life.
