Welcome to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast, one of the top motivational podcasts in the
world.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we come out with a short, to the point, no BS episode
to help make massive changes in your mind and transform you from who you are now to
who you want to be.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you
never miss another episode. And as I have been telling you the past week or so, if you do not yet follow me on Instagram
and you want to follow along on my travels in Italy,
see my motivational videos that I've been putting up,
what I've come to realize is that I don't really post
a whole lot of where I currently am on Facebook.
You know, I have 1.5 million followers on Facebook,
but I really don't let people know where I am on Facebook.
Instagram seems to be the place that
I've come to realize that I keep people updated on what I'm doing. Today, we went to a castle that
was on Lake Como that was amazing. And I felt like it was in a movie and we were hanging out
with a bunch of ducks and all of these things. And if you want to follow along and see what we're
doing on a daily basis and the travels that I go through in my life, Instagram is probably the best
place to keep in touch with me. So follow me on Instagram. My handle is RobDialJr, R-O-B-D-I-A-L-J-R. And you can follow along and
see what we're doing. And then last but not least, in case you missed it on last episode,
if you are interested in learning how to grow your current business or how to actually start
a brand new business based on your passions
and how to make money online. I've actually teamed up with Tony Robbins and his team
and Tony's going to be teaching how to start a business and grow a business. And he's going to
be doing a one-time only live class, which is on April 30th. So if you want to sign up for that free class, go to 2019tony.com. So 2019tony.com. I
hope I spelled that all out right, but 2019tony.com. And you can learn from literally the master. I
mean the best. He knows everything about it. He's made hundreds of millions of dollars.
One of the most successful people out there, especially in the self-development industry.
And the guy knows how to start businesses, how to help people make businesses that do over a
million dollars in sales. So if you're interested in learning from the master for free in the one
time only live event with him, where he will be answering questions, go to 2019tony.com.
So today we're going to be talking about is removing your resistance. So this is something
I've never talked about on the podcast.
This is something that is a huge integral part of my life.
And I usually teach this to most, if not all of my one-on-one clients, if it's necessary.
I was having a conversation with my best friend, Dean, a couple weeks ago, and he was talking
about resistance.
And he wasn't realizing that he was talking about resistance.
But what I've come to realize is that there's things that I love to do in my life.
There's things that I hate doing in my life.
I hate sending emails.
If you've ever sent me an email, I apologize.
There's a pretty good chance you've never gotten a response to me
because number one, I hate sending emails, period.
But I get hundreds of emails.
So I just don't have any time to respond to them.
So the thing about removing resistance is I don't like doing emails. So guess what I don't do? Emails. And so what I've come to do of building my own business,
and even before I had my own business and I was working for other companies, I would remove
resistance. I would outsource the things that I didn't want to do. The great thing about living
in the day and age that we live in right now is that to be completely honest with you, we can hire a
virtual assistant to do the things that we don't want to do for $5 an hour in the Philippines that
will be able to do a much better job than us, or at least as good. They'll get paid a lot of money
in their money over in the Philippines or wherever it is they might be, and you have more free time
to focus on the things that will make you more money. So when I say remove resistance, what I mean is this. I try
to remove resistance from my life. So people think that it's crazy that I'm able to run a
successful business and only work about three to four hours a day. And this is something that I've
worked really, really hard at doing. And what I come to realize is this. In most companies, in most people's,
if you're a salesperson, if you own your own company, if you're a CEO, whatever it is,
you have $10 an hour jobs and you have $1,000 an hour jobs. Anything that's a $10 an hour job,
I don't do and I pay somebody else to do. Anything that's a $1,000 an hour job, I do on my own.
And it's usually about three to four hours of work for $1,000 an hour per job. $1,000 an hour job, I do on my own. And it's usually about three to four hours of work for a thousand dollar an hour per job. A thousand dollar per hour job is what I would call it.
So there's things that I don't like to do. Emails I don't like doing, research I don't like doing,
Excel spreadsheets I don't like doing, any of those things I don't like doing. I don't do
any of them. I hire people under me to do the things that I don't want to do. Now you might
be listening to this and say, Rob, that sounds great, but you know, I only make $40,000 a year. And you know, I'm like,
for instance, I'll give you an example. I'm $40,000 per year. And you know, I'm a base level
salary as a salesperson. And you're like, I don't have enough money to hire somebody.
What I would say is still find a way to hire somebody, even if it's just five hours per week,
right? You pay them $5 per hour, whatever it is that you end up paying a virtual assistant.
That's $25 per week. Let's say it's 10. Let's say 10. Let's say 10 hours per week, paying five bucks per hour. That's $50, right? Now you have 10 more hours. You have 25% more time as a sales rep, 10 more hours, 25% more time to make sales calls.
That $10, excuse me, that $50 that you're spending, because five times 10,
is going to be paid back exponentially because you're not doing the research on your customers.
So you could say with this virtual assistant, they could go on LinkedIn and they could find the email addresses and the phone numbers for
your prospects, right? Maybe you spend your time doing that. So now what you're going to do is
you're going to have them do all of that. That's the resistance side of it. That's the things that
you didn't like doing. And now you can make the sales calls and make way more money.
So what I want you to think about when you hear about removing resistance is I want you to take
out a pen and paper. And if you're not driving, if you're sitting down at your desk
right now and you're listening to me because you don't want to be working in the first place,
maybe take out a pen and paper and put on one side of the sheet or on one piece of paper,
put things that I love doing. And on the next sheet, put things that I hate doing.
And you make a massive list of the things that you love doing. And you make a massive list of the things that you hate doing. And you figure out how can
you outsource the things that you don't want to do and spend more time doing the things that you
do want to do. A book that I would recommend that really changed my life and my perspective on all
of this is The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. Some of you guys knew I was gonna say that.
The four-hour work week by Tim Ferriss
is incredible for changing your perspective
of what you should be doing
and what you shouldn't be doing.
There's resistance in all areas of our lives.
So there's resistance in your relationships.
What's your resistance
and how can you get past that resistance
so you don't feel it anymore?
There's resistance in your work.
How can you get past that resistance?
You know, there's resistance in every aspect of your life. What is the resistance? Where is it?
And how can you remove it? So you don't see it anymore. Now I'll give you another example,
just a simple example. Okay. So for me, another simple example is I just bought a new computer.
And the reason why I bought a new computer, uh, even though I didn't need a new computer,
um, and it's, you know, $3,000 MacBook that
I got used for cheaper, but it's a $3,000 MacBook I spent money on to buy, even though I didn't need
a new computer. But I bought it because every once in a while, a few times a month, I have to edit
4K videos. And so I learned, you know, if I get a souped up MacBook, I'll be able to edit these videos
a little bit quicker. Now I know that I hate editing videos. That is my resistance. And so
my mindset is this. If I have resistance towards editing a video, then I'm going to have resistance
towards shooting the video. And I'm going to have resistance towards planning the video.
In the back of my mind, I know if I start planning a video,
then I'm going to go, oh, damn, but eventually I have to edit this thing.
So what I thought to myself was, do I need a new computer?
No.
Would it make it less resistance in my life if I had a new computer?
Yes.
Okay, so is it worth it?
Yes, it is.
I'll spend the extra money to make sure I get the things done that I need to get done.
Because if I'm trying to make videos to... If you don't know that most of my podcast episodes are also YouTube videos as well. So if I'm trying to make videos and podcast episodes
as well, it would make it much easier if I could not have to think about editing it in the long
run. If I edit it quicker, then I'll be more likely
to shoot the video. If I'm more likely to shoot the video, then I'm more likely to plan the video.
So I'm trying to remove this resistance throughout the whole process of, I know that if I edit and
it's going to take a long time, there's going to be resistance for me planning the video and
shooting the video in the first place. And I have to shoot and I have to plan it. So I learned I'm
going to pay the extra money to remove the resistance because I know in the long
run, I will make more money by paying to remove the resistance right now. So the questions I have
for you are this. Number one, what are the things that you love to do? And on the other side,
number two, what are the things that you hate doing? Make a list of both of those. And then
question number three is how can you pay somebody else or outsource somebody
in your company that you currently have to do all of the things that you need to do that
you hate doing?
If you're a small business owner, you've got a couple of employees.
One of the things that one of the places where most business owners fail, if not the number
one place they fail is delegation.
They can't delegate things.
They feel like they have to do everything on their own. Can you delegate all of the things that you hate doing? With me,
I delegate all of the things that I hate doing. When I ran my first business, you know, and I had
a couple hundred salespeople that were under me and I was working 110 hours a week, I could not
delegate anything. I was terrible at it. Why do you think I burnt out? Well, because I was literally
burning myself out by trying to do everything. One of the things I always try to do is can I delegate first? And if I can't,
is this something that I need to do? So that's what you need to figure out. Question number one,
what are the things that you love to do? Question number two, what are the things that you hate
doing? And question number three, the things that you hate doing, how can you pay somebody to do
those things for you? So that's
what I've got for you for today's episode. How can you remove the resistance from your life?
