Not only am I going to be doing the challenge with you, I have to be on point for 60 days, right? I'm used to traveling and being really on point. And then, you know, I get to have some pretty chill days.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Sometimes if I'm in Italy, I get to have a nice little glass of wine, maybe have some pasta. That ain't happening on this challenge. So if you're out there, you're ready to make change in your life. And listen, it's time to start, stop studying, stop listening to podcasts, stop listening to, you know, stop reading the books, start doing all those things and just start taking action. Like I said, a few episodes ago, sometimes you just have to start taking action and making change in your life and stop learning and studying and reading because enough is enough at some point and you have to start doing the action in the real world. So if you're out there, you're ready to change your life, go to ironmind60.com and let's go ahead and dive in.
Starting point is 00:02:55 So let me spell it out. I-R-O-N-M-I-N-D 60.com. Just want to make sure in case you guys thought it was something else. So let's go ahead and dive in to today's episode. Today we're going to be talking about the four reasons why people fail. So if we're diving into the whole subject of failure, most people are really afraid of failure, not realizing how much failure actually helps them, right? I'm at a conference right now in Mexico, and we're talking about building businesses, taking our businesses to the next level. And a lot of the people in the room are not afraid of failure anymore. The reason why is because they have successful businesses, and they know
Starting point is 00:03:37 that failure is just a part of it. And there was a slide that came up today, and the guy who's running the entire event, my friend David, said success is basically just trying a bunch of crap out until one thing finally works. That's it. You just try a whole bunch of things out. You fail at all of them except for one. That's it. You just find one thing that works and that's all you need is just one thing. So before we talk about the four reasons why people fail, the first thing I want you to realize is failure is the most integral part of success because you're going to fail more than you actually succeed. So you can't have the
Starting point is 00:04:16 fear of failure. But when we're talking about the four reasons why people fail, the first reason why if we start at the beginning of what people are doing, is they fail because they're not clear on exactly what their goals are. They're not clear on exactly what their goals are. They don't know exactly what it is. A lot of times when I'm running meetings or I have coaching clients, whether they're one-on-one or in my group coaching or any of the challenges that I do, the one-on-one or in my group coaching or any of the challenges that I do, the thing that I always hear is something like this. When I say, what is your goal? They say, I want to lose weight. I'm like, cool, that's cute. But that's not enough. Because if you lose one pound over the next year, like if that's your New Year's resolution, lose one pound. If you lose
Starting point is 00:05:02 one pound, you hit your goal, right? If you say that you want to make more money, that's your New Year's resolution, lose one pound. If you lose one pound, you hit your goal, right? If you say that you want to make more money, that's your goal for this year. Well, if you make one more dollar this year than you did last year, guess what? You've hit your goal. So really, that's not something that you need to be focused on. You need to be focused on extreme clarity. You know, if we're talking about your weight, instead of saying, I want to lose weight this year. Okay. Let's do this. How much weight do you want to lose? That's question number one. What do you want your body fat percentage to be at? That's the question number two.
Starting point is 00:05:36 How often do you want to work out? That's question number three. What do you want your diet to look like? That's question number four. Number five. why don't you print out a picture of the person whose body that you want so that therefore you can see that person's body and visualize that being on you every single day that you go through this process. Can you see the clarity difference between I want to lose weight and what I just spoke about? If somebody says, I want to make more money. Okay. How much more money do you want to make? What is the exact amount of money that you want to make? What is the exact amount of money that you want to save? What do you need to do in order to get, let's say your goal is a hundred thousand dollars. What more do you need to do? If you're in sales, how many
Starting point is 00:06:19 more sales do you need to have? How many more phone calls do you need to make in order to get there? Right? So you need to get extremely clear. Can you see that? Can you see the difference between I want to make more money and then having extreme clarity on it? Can you see the difference between I want to lose weight and having extreme clarity on it? I want you to think about that. Can you see the difference between the two? The second reason why people fail is because they don't have a strong why. They don't have that strong emotional attachment to their goal. You need to have a strong emotional attachment to every goal that you have. And the reason why is because of the fact that you're going to fall many times on the way to having success. Like I said, failure, you know, success is 99%
Starting point is 00:07:09 failure. That's what the creator of Honda said. 1% of all of your success is the success. Out of everything you do, 1% of everything that you do is success. 99% failure. So when you fail, is success. 99% failure. So when you fail, what is your strong emotional attachment to your goal that's going to get you to get up and get moving and do the things that you need to do? You have to have a strong emotional attachment, right? If someone says they want to make $100,000 this year, and then another person says they want to make a hundred thousand dollars this year because they want to buy their mom a house in a better part of town be so that she doesn't have to struggle anymore. Which person do you think is more likely to hit the goal? A person who just wants to make a hundred thousand dollars, but they don't know why, or the person who wants to make a hundred thousand dollars because they're doing it for somebody else because they're doing it.
Starting point is 00:08:01 They have a strong emotional attachment to their mother and all that she did for them. And they want to give her the life that she was never, never able to have, right? The, the one that has the strong why is much more likely to get back up when they fail 99 times out of a hundred. So you have to have a strong why whenever you're developing, whatever it is that you're going for. The third reason why people fail is because they don't have an accountability system. They don't have people around them that are supporting them. They don't have people around them that have the same mindset as them. They don't have people around them that they need to. And then when they fall, they don't have people that are there to pick them back up. And also with an accountability system, think about this. Whenever you set a goal, the best thing to do is to tell everybody and their mother, tell everyone that you possibly
Starting point is 00:08:54 can, because then the next time that you see your uncle Bob, if you tell your uncle Bob, your goal is to, you know, make a hundred thousand dollars so that you can quit your job and then go travel to Europe. Well, next time you go see uncle Bob and you happen to see him at the next family event, he's going to say, Hey, how are you doing? I'm making a hundred thousand dollars since you could quit your job and go to Europe. And you're gonna be like, Oh yeah, that's right. I did tell him that maybe I should get up and start doing it. And the next time he's like, Hey, how's it going? And then you tell your mom. And then every time she talks to you, she taught, asked you about, you tell your cousin, every time you see them, you tell your spouse, then every time she talks to you, she asks you about you. Tell your cousin every time you see them. You tell your spouse every time you see them. It's just constantly
Starting point is 00:09:28 people holding you accountable to your goals. The worst thing you can do is keep your goals inside of you. The best thing you can do is tell everybody that you possibly can. So there's two levels to accountability. Telling everybody and level two is to have one person, one trusted person that you talk to every single day. And they're your accountability partner. They're holding you accountable to your goals. You tell them everything. So you hold them accountable to their goals and they hold you accountable to your goals. And you work as a partnership. The third reason why people fail is because they don't have that level of
Starting point is 00:10:05 accountability. They don't have that level of accountability and you need to have that level of accountability. Once again, the worst thing you can do is keep your goals inside of you. The best thing you can do is tell everybody about your goals, right? One thing that I've done many times is I have a goal. I hop on the podcast and I tell people I have a goal. I hop on Facebook live and I tell people, I tell people so that it's out there and they know, like for instance, I'm starting this iron mind 60 challenge with the iron mind 60 challenge. I'm developing, I've developed this, this literally this accountability system. That's going to make it really hard for me to fail. I wanted to put myself through my own challenge. I was stuck in a little bit of a rut where life is really good, but I want more.
Starting point is 00:10:51 And sometimes it's easier to be at rock bottom than it is to be at a good place. Rock bottom, which I've been at, I've been at rock bottom. I've lived in a one bedroom and I've lived off of pasta for two months straight. Back in 2010, fall of 2010, I was eating pasta for two months in a row because it was the cheapest thing that I could find at Walmart. I got a box of pasta for 88 cents and I got pasta sauce for $1.88. And I lived off of it for two freaking months.
Starting point is 00:11:19 It's easy to get motivated to get the hell off of the rock bottom. It's hard to get motivated when you're at a really good place. You're comfortable. Life is great. There's really no reason sometimes to push past it. So sometimes what you need to do is you need to take extreme challenge and put it onto yourself. You need to push yourself to grow, right? So for myself, and the reason why I'm saying this is because level three, the third thing is because of the accountability. For me, I developed the Ironman 60 challenge because I know I have 500 people in the group. They're going to be watching me every single day, literally every single day,
Starting point is 00:12:00 because I've told them that I'm going to put up a daily video every single day inside of this group. That is extreme accountability. So yes, I'm doing it because I want to help everybody else out. But there's a little bit of the side of me that's like, I guess it started, you know, a little bit in selfishness because I was like, I am ready to change. And I know that the only way to make massive change is to challenge yourself to the extreme for an extended period of time. So there's the secret. The secret's out. I started it because of the fact that I needed extreme accountability. I needed my own extreme accountability because I could, could I have gone 60 days and, you know, challenge myself and not told anybody? Yeah, for sure. But I thought to myself, I'm going to take it to the next level. I'm going to create extreme accountability. So I have the accountability
Starting point is 00:12:49 for myself. I have to do it. And then I also have the accountability for everybody that's in the group as well. And the fourth reason why people fail at their goals is because they have the wrong mindset, right? They still have the negative talk. They still have that little voice inside of their head that tells them that they're not good enough. They still have all of the stinking thinking that they have going on since they were a little kid, telling them that they don't think that they can go on that diet or succeed at that diet because they'll always be that fat kid, right? So you have to realize if you're going to succeed, you need to focus on yourself. You need to focus on growing yourself.
Starting point is 00:13:31 The secret, as I've said before, and I'm starting to let this out for people to hear more, the secret is not to focus on what you need to do to be successful. That is important, yes, but the secret is not what you need to do to be successful. It's who you need to become in order to be successful. That is important, yes, but the secret is not what you need to do to be successful. It's who you need to become in order to be successful. That's the secret. You need to figure out who you need to become in order to be successful. So you look at your goal, who you need to be. You look at your goal and ask yourself, who do I need to be in order to accomplish this? On the day that I accomplish this goal that I want, who do I need to be? And you list out all
Starting point is 00:14:05 of the traits and qualities of that person and you find out who you need to be. And then what you do is you look at that piece of paper and you see all of those traits and qualities and go, I need to embody these traits and qualities every single day. And you will become that person. So those are the four secrets, the four reasons why people fail. Number one, because they're not clear on what their goals are. Number two, they don't have a strong enough why. Number three is they don't have an accountability system. Number four, they don't have a right mindset. So if you're out there, you're tired of it. You're ready to become the person that you want to be. Join the Iron Mind 60 Challenge. People ask why I developed
Starting point is 00:14:45 the Iron Mind 60 Challenge the way I did because I know that the four reasons why people fail. Number one, they're not clear on their goals. We got really, really clear on our goals and developed our mission statement inside of the challenge group. Number two, the reason why people fail is because they don't have a strong enough why. I did an hour-long video helping people develop their whys and figure out exactly what it is that they're looking for so that they can make sure that when they fall and they get challenged throughout this challenge, they don't know if they're going to be able to get back up. They don't want to finish it. They look at that why and they remember why they started
Starting point is 00:15:18 and they, you know, it's like the famous quote says, if you think about quitting, remember why you started. Number three is because they have accountability. They have the accountability system where they know they can't give up when they have 500 people in a group. They can't put up their goals, what they want to do, and then just fall off the map. So it's the accountability. Plus everybody that's in there, you're going to be able to see other people's wins, other people's successes.
Starting point is 00:15:41 They're going to be talking about how they've been struggling and how they got past it so you can learn from them. So there's extreme accountability there. Number four, the mindset issue. That's what I'm for. That's why I'm coaching you for 60 days straight with 60 straight videos. So if you're interested, I mean, you've heard me make enough, you know, talk about the Iron Minds 60 Challenge enough at this point. You're at the last time where you can really join in. You know, if you listen to this on the day it comes out, tomorrow is the very last day that you can join. If you listen to this any other day, it might actually be closed by the time that you listen to this. So June 24th at 1159 PM Pacific Standard Time is the very last minute that you can join. If you try to join at midnight,
Starting point is 00:16:26 it will actually be switching immediately to a new page that says, sorry, doors are closed, you cannot join. So please don't send me an email saying, hey Rob, I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I didn't sign up in time, whatever it was, because there's nothing I can do. Once the doors are closed, the doors are closed. I am strong on my integrity and I will not let people join after. So if you're out there, you're ready to make changes in your life. So if you guys are interested, join us in the Ironman 60 challenge. I would love to see you in there. I would love to see you learning and growing and challenging yourself. And then by the end of it, becoming a brand new person. Like I said, I have the vision. I know there's some people that are out there that are alcoholics or addicted to drugs or addicted to gambling or addicted to stuff that is really bad. And this is going to
Starting point is 00:17:53 change their life. I know that there's people that are extremely overweight and this is going to be the beginning of them changing life and creating the body that they want and living longer so that they can be around for their kids and to see their grandkids and to walk their daughter down the aisle. Like this is going to be absolutely life-changing for a lot of people. And I want you to be a part of it. So go to ironmind60.com.
