So if you are interested in joining in on group coaching, there's been a lot of new things that have popped up. And I actually have a special for you if you want to be joining in on the group coaching in celebration for today's episode, episode number 400. So if you're interested in the group coaching, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. We can get you checking out the information, see if it's right for you, see if the rest of 2018 is what you're going to be doing.
Starting point is 00:01:18 And I've got a special for you that I really want you to find out about. So send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. So 400 episodes in, what have I learned? That is the question. So I was thinking about it. I was like, man, we're 400. I cannot believe that that's the number that we're at. It's crazy because I remember, let me take you through the story of how this podcast started, right? I, you know, I've been doing this and motivating and coaching people for about 12 years now. But there was a time where I actually got away from it for a while. And I went into the corporate world and I was still doing sales and sales training and all of that stuff, but I wasn't doing what I'm doing right now. And I was inside of Jason's Deli with my girlfriend and Jason's
Starting point is 00:02:05 Deli is a, you know, a chain that's across the United States. And I remember I was looking around and it looked like everybody who was inside of Jason's Deli looked like zombies and everybody was extremely overweight and seemed like people were yelling at their kids a lot. And that it was just like, they were zombies. They looked like they weren't happy. They looked unfulfilled. And my girlfriend saw it in my face and she's like, what's wrong? And I was like, I think I need to start a podcast. She's like, what do you mean? Like, where did this idea come from?
Starting point is 00:02:34 I was like, I feel like I have information that I need to share with people. I feel like personal growth completely changed my life. And I would not be, and I'm positive of this. I would not be anywhere near the place that I am right now. Have I, not be, and I'm positive of this, I would not be anywhere near the place that I am right now had I not had personal growth. And personal growth was my therapist. Personal growth was the thing that really took me from being a scared, not very confident kid to, you know, the man that I am today and, you know, everything that I've accomplished up until this point. And so I said, I'm going to start a podcast. I feel like I'm obligated to teach these people.
Starting point is 00:03:10 I feel like there's a lot of information that would help a lot of people and I'm just going to go ahead and do it. And I did a lot of research and I was like, I'm going to start this podcast and I'm going to do really well. I think there's no other option. I don't fail at anything. That's just my mindset. And if I fail, I continue going until I succeed. That's the only failure is actually stopping. That's it. And knowing that, I was Googling, you know, a lot about podcasts, how to start a podcast. And I remember seeing an article that said the average podcast stops, like the podcaster stops with episode number seven. That's the average is that, you know, they give up after seven episodes. And I thought, okay, well, let me just make the commitment to myself that I'll just make 14 of them before I even put any out.
Starting point is 00:03:49 And so I recorded 14 episodes before releasing any of them because I wanted to get twice as far as the average person because I feel like that would be enough to get me rolling and to get me going to see if it was going to be good. And I put them out there and worked my tail off to get the distribution, to get people to listen to it, all of those things. Shot to the top of iTunes and it was at the top of iTunes for almost eight weeks consistently on the front page in a thing called New and Noteworthy. It was the front page of iTunes for business, for self-help, for education, for a lot of different categories, six different categories, which is the most that you can be in. It was the front page of iTunes for business, for self-help, for education, for a lot of
Starting point is 00:04:26 different categories, six different categories, which is the most that you can be in. It was number one in all of them for almost the entire eight weeks of new and noteworthy. So now looking back, my mentor was asking me the other day, what do you feel you have learned in the past 400 episodes? It's been over two and a half years. And what I said to him was that I feel like I've learned that I am in alignment with my true purpose. And when you're in alignment with your true purpose, everything in the world becomes easy and the universe or God or whatever you believe in or fate or coinkydinks, whatever it is that you want to call it, conspire to show you that what you're doing is right.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Right? It's like once you decide and you make that decision of boom, okay, I'm going to do this and you put it out into the universe. It's like the universe starts throwing opportunities at you for you to continue going. Before I started the podcast and started doing this, I had made a lot of money, but I've never made as much as I have since I decided to pursue this. And the cool thing is that I've been able to make a lot of money in multiple businesses and sometimes with helping a lot of people, which is cool as well. So the podcast started and then I decided, you know what? A lot of people don't listen to podcasts, right?
Starting point is 00:05:44 If you listen to this, you're one of the weird people because some people, they would be like, what are you doing? I was like, I'm a podcaster. And like, what the heck's a podcast? I was like, this isn't good. You know, if that's like, you know, you don't want someone to not know about the product that you have. So I thought to myself, what can I do?
Starting point is 00:05:59 What's the easiest thing to get the message out there to share it? I was like, I'm going to start a Facebook and I'm just going to put out videos. And so it went from podcasting to videos. So I started putting out videos and then I figured out, oh man, this is how you make a, you know, you can't really make a video go viral, but it does need some specific content. It's got to be good content more than anything else. Um, you know, and, and now I'm looking back last year alone. Um, you know, and, and now I'm looking back last year alone. Um, I was looking at the numbers. My, uh, my Facebook had 600 million impressions on people's Facebook. So that means that almost twice the amount of people in the United States, uh, almost twice the number of the amount of people in the United States saw something. One of my videos, one of my posts, one of my pictures,
Starting point is 00:06:40 something from my Facebook on their page, 600 million times. And I was like, holy crap, because there's a lot of stuff. There's a lot of negativity in the world. There's a lot of negativity in the news. I'm doing my job or my best to combat that, to prove to people that the world's not an evil place. And so the things that I've realized in order to get me to where I am two and a half years later is number one, you need to find out what it is that you want to do and what you love. And if you don't know and you don't know what your passion is, what you need to do is you need to sit down and go, okay, I need to start doing new things. If I don't know what I love, then clearly I need to get out and start doing some stuff because you love something,
Starting point is 00:07:21 but you need to get your fricking butt off the couch and stop doing the same things you do every single day. Get out of your routines, get out of your comfort zone, go meet new people, go do new things, go play sand volleyball. Go to meetup.com and see if there's any people who play sand volleyball. And even if you suck at it, just go play it anyways, right? Who cares? Just find new people, meet new people. Two weeks ago, my friend, my friend and my girlfriend and I, we went and did improv, right? We just showed up at this place because it was just randomly happening. We're like, okay, there's free improv tonight at this place. Let's go see what's going on. We ended up doing improv for a few hours, right? That's uncomfortable, but it was fun as hell. Sometimes you need to find, you need to step out of your
Starting point is 00:07:57 comfort zone and do things you've never done before to find out what you actually love. And so that's the first thing that I would say is find what you love. If you don't know what it is, go search for it. Don't sit on it. It's not just going to knock on your door when you're watching Netflix and chilling, right? You have to get up and actually go find out what it is. So that's the first thing. The second thing I would say is consistency is key, right? 400 episodes, you know, in the last episode, I talked about consistency, but 400 episodes and I have not missed a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, right? I have not missed a Monday, Wednesday or Friday in 400 episodes. I know a lot of people that miss a bunch of their days in their podcast. Don't kick off. Consistency is key.
Starting point is 00:08:38 So you have to go at whatever it is that you're going at. You have to just keep being consistent. Like I told you, most people never start. So as long as you start that you're going at. You have to just keep being consistent. Like I told you, most people never start. So as long as you start, you're further ahead than other people. And the people who do start usually end up quitting because they doubt themselves. So if you just start and don't stop, you'll be further ahead than anybody else. And you'll probably beat everybody, right? Because I don't know many people that started a podcast the same time that I did in an hour, 400 episodes deep. And that's not me bragging. It's just saying that I know that staying consistent has been the thing that's brought me the success. So whatever it is,
Starting point is 00:09:15 find out what it is and be consistent with it. And the last thing I'll tell you is this, don't give up, right? Don't give up. If it's something that you want to do, if it's something that you truly love, go at it, you get one freaking life who cares if you fail Almost the entire way because on the road to success you're going to fail a ton of times The most successful person in the room is always the person who's failed the most I remember I was watching an interview with oprah one time And they're like, well, do you can you tell us your success, about the road there? And she said, yeah, I'll tell you this. And there was a bunch, you know, there's a crowd of people around there.
Starting point is 00:09:49 She said, I guarantee you this. If you were to add up every single person's, the amount of failures every single person has had in this room and add them together, I probably have more failures. The person who fails the most is also the person that succeeds. You're only a failure when you accept the failure and you don't keep going. You have to keep going. You have to keep pushing yourself. So don't stop whatever it is. I can truly say 100% I have never been happier in my entire life. Right? A few years ago, my goal for the past, you know, four years, I was figuring out how can I start a business online? How can I start doing this? And I knew nothing about anything. I didn't know about podcasts. I didn't know about how to put podcasts up in an RSS feed and how to get that onto iTunes or any of those things,
Starting point is 00:10:32 but I figured it out because I wanted to have my own company, my own business where I was helping people and also being able to stay in alignment with what I wanted to do and what I felt I was good at. And I wanted to travel and what I felt I was good at. And I wanted to travel the world. And now I'm back in the United States after traveling for six months. And it's like I actually made it come true. That's crazy. Because a few years ago, this wasn't possible.
Starting point is 00:10:59 But now it's possible. So if you're sitting to me and you're listening, find out what it is that you love. Do it. Stay consistent with it. Don't stop. Just go at it. Put your head down. Three years from now, you might look back and be like, damn, I'm really glad that I listened to episode number 400 and took Rob's advice because that's all you have to do.
Starting point is 00:11:18 It's not that hard to be successful. You just have to figure out what you're going to go after. You just have to start and you don't stop and you don't accept defeat and you don't accept failure. So here's to another 400 episodes. I'm not giving up anytime soon because I, it's funny because I remember when I first started, I was like, man, three times a week, I'm going to run out of stuff to say. I have a list of things that I can continue teaching that's just sitting in a backlog. And I just look at it and go, oh yeah, I could talk about that today. It's crazy. There's so many things. I'm not slowing down anytime soon. Content is just going to keep coming out of the podcast. If you follow me on
Starting point is 00:11:53 Facebook, there's about to be a ton of amazing content that's coming out, already recorded, just in the process of editing, all of those things. So here's to another 400 episodes of you guys. I appreciate you guys for all being on this journey. I know some of you guys have been listening since day one. So if you're out there and you're one of the day one-ers, I'm going to go ahead and give you an internet high five. Thank you for coming along in this process with me. Thank you for sharing this podcast. If you would do me one favor, if you have been listening to this podcast, go to iTunes and just give my page a rating and review. Give my thing a rating and review. Go to it, click the button that says rating and reviews and rate me honestly
Starting point is 00:12:27 because what happens is when you give me a rating review, it actually spikes the algorithm so that I get more visibility on my actual podcast itself. So if I've ever taught you anything, please do that for me and I would appreciate it. And what I'll say is this, if you wanna join in or you want some information on the group coaching,
Starting point is 00:12:46 send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. I already gave them a massive, massive, massive announcements that I'm going to be putting out a course pretty soon and people inside of the group coaching are going to get free access to this course because they're going to help me as I go through and teach this and build this whole thing out before I launch it to the public. So if you want to join in and you're going to have a ton of money if you're in group coaching instead of actually just buying the course itself. If you want to join in, send me an email rob at mwfmotivation.com and I'm going to leave you the same way that I've been leaving you for the past 400 episodes. Make it your mission, make somebody else's day better.
Starting point is 00:13:22 I appreciate you and I hope that you have an amazing day. Well, that's it for today's podcast. If you want the show notes for this episode, they can be found at mwfmotivation.com.
