Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor podcast. I am your host, Rob Dial. And if you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you never miss another podcast episode. Today, we're going to be talking about how to learn from the coronavirus. The six things that I think that you should be able to take from it. And where this came from, just so you have an idea, is I had a lady who is inside of one of my business courses. Starting point is 00:00:34 And she asked a question from a very fearful state. And it was very much, there was terror in the question that she asked about the coronavirus, what we're supposed to be doing. You know, it's terrifying. It's mutated into something else different. And now we don't know how to deal with it and there's no vaccines. And I could just tell there was a lot of terror in her voice. And my response is what I'm going to actually show you guys and go over with you today in these six points that I'm going to cover. And for those of you guys that are out there, side note, and you're interested in, this has shown you that you want to pivot your life.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Maybe you've noticed now that you can't rely on your company anymore. Number one, everything happens for a reason, right? And I'll be honest with you. I used to think this, and then I didn't think it for a while. And if I'm being 100% honest with you, what really made me go back to realizing that everything does happen for a reason,
Starting point is 00:02:49 even though we do have free will, is some psychedelic journeys, if I'm being honest with you, of me realizing how intricately planned every single nanosecond of our life actually is. And the thing that I said to her is, everything happens for a reason. And the thing that I said to her is everything happens for a reason. You have to learn to be okay knowing just that and not knowing the reason why this has to happen. You don't need to know the reason why the coronavirus happened. You don't need to know the reason why bad things happen, why good things happen. You just have to be okay knowing that you're trying your best in this world. And I like to follow Ram Dass very closely.
Starting point is 00:03:25 I like his teachings. And one thing that he says is a soul does not leave this earth a second too early or a second too late. And so it's sad because, yeah, of course, there are people that are dying and that's a terrible thing. And I don't want to overlook that. But I believe that everything happens for a reason, whether you believe it or not.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I believe that it does. And if you believe that everything happens for a reason, whether you believe it or not. I believe that it does. And if you believe that everything happens for a reason, the sickness and the horror and maybe even the deaths, everything happens for a reason. And you probably will never know the reason for these things. But you just have to be okay knowing that there is a greater plan, whether you believe in it or not. That's up to you. And for me, I just believe there's a greater plan. And this doesn't come from a religious place. I'm not religious in any sort of way. I'm very spiritual, but I just have the feeling that everything happens for a reason and I don't
Starting point is 00:04:13 really need to know what the reason is. And it makes me okay to go, you know what? Everything's happening exactly the way it's supposed to. I'm going to do what I can, the best that I can. And if something's out of my control, I'm going to go ahead and let it be out of my control and be okay with that as well. The second thing that I said that you can learn from this is long-term, I'm positive that more good will come from this in the world than bad. You know, I'm positive of that. There's no doubt in my mind that more good will come from this. And it's already starting to show some of the good. You know, you could think about all of the environmental things that have happened about how the waters are cleaning up in Venice. And now there's finally swans coming back because there's no boats going up and down them. And, you know, that there's fish coming back in Venice and
Starting point is 00:04:58 that they saw dolphins for the first time running around and, you know, swimming around in Venice, Italy for the first time in, you know, so long and that the water is super clean. And then if you look at the, you know, the, the different pollution that is in China, that doesn't really exist anymore because nobody's been out in the pollution that's been over Italy because, you know, it's gone because nobody's been out. And it's like, there has been good already coming from this. That's the first thing. Maybe we're going to start to see a lot of things that we need to change about ourselves and our society because of this thing actually happening. You know, I saw a thing that it was a video that said that Bill Gates predicted the coronavirus or something like it in 2015 in his TED talk. And if you watch his TED talk, he says that the next big catastrophe, the next big thing is not going to be World War III. This is in 2015, he said this,
Starting point is 00:05:50 but it's actually going to be some sort of virus. And it's going to take out tons of people and really shift up a lot of the way that we do things. And he said, what it's going to show us is that we spend too much money on war and not enough on preventative stuff like this. And he said, if you look at the $750 billion that we spend each year just in the U.S. alone on war, we spend a sliver of that to be prepared for some sort of virus or something like this if it pops up. So what is it doing? It's showing holes in every single system that have been stagnant and complacent for a very long time. This will force them to improve. So long term, there will be more good than bad that
Starting point is 00:06:25 comes from this right now. The third thing that I said is if you're worried, worry usually comes from the feeling that something is out of your control. Now for you worriers, listen to this because I'm going to dive deeper into this and do an entire episode on this because I know you worriers out there are like, oh God, I need this. But usually worry comes from something being out of your control. And you not being in control of something stresses you out or makes you worry. So what does that mean? It actually means not that you worry too much, not that you're anxious about a lot of things. It shows you that you have a control problem. Let that sink in. And the reason why I can tell you this is because I'm a recovering control freak. I completely found out that I was a control freak in every single aspect and it was ruining my life
Starting point is 00:07:18 and it was ruining relationships. It was ruining a lot of things. And that's an entirely different episode. You know, I could talk more about psychedelics and how psychedelics helped me show that and helped me release that as well. But if you're worried, the reason why you're worried is because it's out of your control and that makes you stressed out or it makes you worried because you have a control problem. So that's something that if I were you, I'd take some time today and go through and be like, do I have a control problem? Why is that? Where did it come from? Who else do, do I have a control problem? Why is that? Where did it come from? Who else do I know that has a control problem?
Starting point is 00:07:49 Better yet, which one of my parents did I learn this from as well? Because that's the truth of the matter. The truth of the matter is that if you are worried, it is coming from something being out of your control. So that's number three. The fourth thing that I said has to kind of tie with this one is focus on what you can control in your own mind, in your small circle of influence. You will not create the cure for the coronavirus. You will not save mankind, but you can control
Starting point is 00:08:20 what happens to you and what happens around you for the most part, right? So why don't you just focus on what you can control instead of focusing on what you cannot control? Because that's usually the issue is that people are focusing too much on what they cannot control and that's what drives them crazy. They don't focus on what they can control. So if you're going through this, if you have children, for instance, and your children are at home, let's focus on making sure that your children are not anxious about it. They're not worried about it, but they actually learn how to be calm, cool, and collected even in a crisis. Wouldn't that be something better for them to learn? What else can your children learn from
Starting point is 00:08:58 this? You're spending more time with them. Why don't you focus on the next week, two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, whatever we might have. Why don't you focus on instead of worrying or being anxious about something or things that are out of your control, focus on that small circle of influence. Why don't you put a hundred percent into teaching your children the mindset that you need them to have to be, you know, 100% the iron mind as I like to call it. They have the iron mind so that nothing can get in, nothing can break them. That's something that you can control. What else can you control? The other people around you, your friends, your mom, your dad, brother, sister.
Starting point is 00:09:36 How can you be the lighthouse, the person that people look to and say, I want to be like her. I want to be like him. So focus on what you can control, not the things that you cannot control. Number five, in all situations, you can either choose love or you can choose fear. Let me say that again. In all situations, you can either choose love or you can choose fear. What have you been choosing through this coronavirus pandemic that they're calling it, right? What have you been choosing?
Starting point is 00:10:07 Have you been choosing love? Have you been going through and, you know, allowing the older people to go into the grocery store before you? Or have you been going through getting to the grocery store as soon as it gets there because out of fear, you're basically like, I'm going to be the one that's, I'm not going to go hungry. So think about that. Every action that you do, every thought that you think comes from either love or fear. This is showing you
Starting point is 00:10:28 holes, not only in the systems of government in society and all medical and all of those things. It's also showing you holes within yourself, within your own psyche as well. If you let fear take over, you have lost. So then you need to start asking yourself, how can I come through with more love? Have I been living with fear? I have been living with fear. Man, okay, how can I bring more love into this situation and less fear?
Starting point is 00:10:56 Great questions, ask yourself. I'm gonna go deeper into some of these in upcoming episodes. And then number six, the last thing that I share with her is this too shall pass. This too shall pass. How can you use this challenge?
Starting point is 00:11:09 How can you use this coronavirus to strengthen your mind? How can you use this to strengthen your business? How can you use this to strengthen your life? How can you use this to strengthen your family? How can you use this to strengthen your children's mindsets? This will pass. Humankind will not be destroyed by the coronavirus. I will bet everything that I have on that one. Time will go on. Humans will go on. This is not the last hurrah before the zombie
Starting point is 00:11:38 apocalypse. This too shall pass. How can you use this to learn and grow and get better and allow it to show you where there's holes in your system, in your mindset, in your family, in your bank account, in everything that you do? How can you learn from this? Because it will eventually be gone. How can you use this as something that you can learn from? So that's what I got for you for today's episode.
