Take your phone out real quick and give us a rating review however you listen to us.
The more people who positively rate this, the more that those platforms like Apple and Spotify say, hey,
we should show this to more people who have never listened to it. And that's how the podcast can
grow organically. So if you would give us a rating review, I would greatly appreciate it
from the bottom of my heart. Today, I'm going to be giving you my seven steps to hit any goal.
And I don't necessarily want to say all of this is mine. It's actually used to be six steps to hit any goal. And this comes from my favorite book,
Think and Grow Rich. I just happened to add a seventh one on there just to try to help you
in making it easier to hitting your goals. And so whenever I hit a goal, this is literally the
exact same process that I do. I've been doing this since I was 19 years old.
So we're looking at 17 years now. It works so well for me. And every single time I teach people and
they use it, it works well for them as well. So for me, if it's, you know, ain't broke, don't fix
it. It's working. It's worked for 17 years now. I want to teach it to you and I want you to be
able to do it. So anytime that you want to hit a goal, this is the exact
process that you want to go through. Come back and listen to this podcast episode anytime that
you set a new goal. Anytime you have New Year's resolutions, come back, listen to this podcast
so that it can help you. So let's dive into it. Number one is to fixate your mind on what it is
that you want. So one of the things that he says in Think and Grow Rich is fixate your mind on the
exact amount of money that you want. Now, it might not be just money for you. There's many goals that
you could have. But the first thing that you have to do is you have to figure out what it is that
you want, which is very obvious. But one of the most important things that I say every single time
is you have to be very, very, very clear on exactly what it is that you want. You know,
I've said this many times in the podcast, but some people say, hey, I want to lose weight.
That's a goal. That's a goal, but that's a shitty goal if I'm being honest with you.
Because if you lose one pound, you hit your goal. You wanted to lose weight, you lost one pound,
you lost weight, you hit your goal. But I'm assuming if you want to lose weight, you don't
want to lose one pound. You want to lose more than one pound. And so, you know, if you say, I want to make more
money this year. Okay. If you make one more dollar, you've hit that goal. So you've got to
get very clear on exactly what it is. The more clear that you can become on every single one
of your goals, the more likely you are to hit that goal and you need to write everything down.
So instead of saying, I want to lose weight, you could say,
hey, I want to lose 20 pounds and I want to weigh 185 pounds and be at 7% body fat. And I printed
a picture of the person who I think has the perfect body that I want. That is what I'm shooting for.
Do you see how that is much more clear than I just want to lose weight? I just want to lose weight
versus I want to lose 20 pounds, weigh 185 pounds. I want
to be a 7% body fat and I want to look exactly like this person in the picture. So the more clear
that you are, the better that you can see the target, the more likely you are to hit the target.
So first thing you got to do is get very clear on what it is that you want. Number two is you've got
to determine what you're going to give up in return for what it is that you desire.
Here's the thing that a lot of, this is the biggest part that I find most people usually don't do,
is they figure out what it is that they want, how to get there, they create a plan.
If they go that far, they usually don't do this process, which is decide what it is that you're going to give up.
Because when you're saying yes to something, you're saying no to something else. When you're saying yes to losing 20 pounds, you're saying no
to candy. You're saying no to alcohol on the weekends. You're saying no to not working out.
You're saying no to sleeping in when you should be going on your morning run. You're going to
have to say no to a lot of things. So you have to decide in order to hit my goal, this is what I
intend to give up
in return for accomplishing that goal. Because when you're saying yes to losing weight, you're
saying no to something else. When you're saying yes to making more money this year, which let's
say, instead of saying making more money, because that's a crappy goal, I want to make $150,000
this year. So you know exactly what it is. Okay. If you are going to say yes to making $150,000
this year, you're going to say no
to a lot of things that you've been doing that's been holding you back from making that
money.
So number two is you have to determine what you're willing to give up in return for
accomplishing that goal.
That's number two.
Number three is to establish a definite date when you intend to hit that goal.
A goal without a deadline is just a dream.
And so you've got to say exact date that you want to make sure. And I'll give you examples of a few different, I'll give you a few
different examples at the end of this episode to kind of show you what it would look like.
But you've got to figure out the goal that you're going to hit. You've got to figure out what you're
going to give up in return. And you've got to figure out the date that you're going to hit it
by. I want to be at 185 pounds by December 31st of this year.
Okay.
Well, now we've got a deadline of something we've got to work for.
It's got to be an end point that we get to.
Okay.
So that's number three.
Number four is now to create the plan.
Now that we've figured out when we're going to hit, you know, what the goal is, what we're
going to give up, and we figured out when we're going to hit it by, well, now we've
got to come up with a plan. Now that we've kind of got the ducks in a
row, now let's make a plan of exactly how we're going to go from point A, which is where you are
now, to point B. And the secret is you have to begin at once. So you have to begin right now.
So once you decide this is the goal, this is what we're going to do, and you create the plan,
right now. So once you decide this is the goal, this is what we're going to do, and you create the plan, you don't start next week. You don't start tomorrow. If your goal is to get to 185
and give up X, Y, Z, and you're going to get there by December 31st, you got to get your ass in the
gym today. Let's go. Let's stop waiting around. Let's figure out a way to make it happen. And so
you've got to create a plan
that is a plan that's like solid. There's no question marks around it. Now, let me tell you
this real quick. For those of you guys that are overthinkers or over planners, which I know there's
a lot of people out there that are like this, do not spend so much time coming up with a plan and
trying to make it quote unquote perfect that you don't take any freaking action. Because sometimes
overthinking
and over planning is all just fears and limiting beliefs coming in your way. And you're using that
as the excuse as to why you're not taking action and really you're afraid to take action. So you've
got to create a plan and that plan you could create in the next 10 minutes. If it takes longer
than 10 minutes, you're probably going to in depth. The plan will move and shift as you take action,
as time progresses. But to
tell yourself, oh, I'm not ready yet because I'm still working on my plan. No, that's a fear
eliminating belief that it actually truly is. So if you're an over planner or over thinker,
set a timer, say, hey, I've got 10 minutes to come up with a plan. Once those 10 minutes are up,
I've got to take action and give yourself just that time instead of saying, up, I've got to take action and give yourself just that time
instead of saying, oh, I've got to take the next 10 weeks to figure out my plan. Because I know
I've coached enough people out there. I know how some people are. You spend too much time on that.
So create a definite plan and begin at once. That's number four. Hey, today's program is

Hey, if you're like me, you're always looking to make sustainable swaps through their home.
Maybe something that's not wrapped in plastic, doesn't use any harmful chemicals,
and hopefully doesn't involve chopping down any trees.
Luckily, it seems like there's more and more alternatives every single day
that I love to use at home and keep our earth beautiful at the same time.
One of my new favorite sustainable swaps is Real Paper.
Real Paper makes sustainable toilet paper that uses fast-growing bamboo
and is shipped in plastic-free packaging,
even down to the tape on the box.
The great thing about bamboo is that it's actually a grass.
And just like lawn, it can be cut down and regenerated
without any harming of the plant or the soil.
So they're able to harvest the same plant over and over again
instead of cutting down trees.
And this is certainly preferable
to the usual plastic-wrapped teepee that comes from old growth forests. The conventional stuff contributes to
deforestation, habitat loss, and all for something that we use once and then flush down a toilet.
And one of the things I like about it is how convenient it is with the subscription. It always
just arrives on your doorstep. Real Paper is available in an easy, hassle-free subscription
for one-time purchases on their website. All orders are conveniently delivered to your door with free shipping and
100% recyclable, plastic-free packaging. So when you head to realpaper.com slash dial and sign up
for a subscription using my code dial at checkout, you'll automatically get 30% off your first order
and free shipping. That's R-E-E-L-P-A-P-E-R.com slash dial or enter the promo code dial to get 30% off your first order plus free shipping.
So let's stop flushing our forests and give Reel's tree-free paper a try.
Zero trees, zero plastics, zero compromises with Reel.
Number five is to then write out a clear and concise statement on exactly what it is that you want.
So a clear and concise statement that
summarizes number one, two, three, and four. So it's going to be like three to five sentences.
And you're going to create this. This is super important. A lot of people miss this part too.
Super important. You've got to create a clear and concise statement. Basically,
your mission statement for accomplishing this goal. And you've got the plan,
you've got what you're going to give up, you've got the exact goal, you've got the exact date and
the deadlines you're going to hit it by. You need a clear and concise statement. So what would that
look like? Let me give you a couple of examples. Let's say that you want to lose weight. Let's go
back to that. I want to weigh 185 pounds. I want to, you know, hit it by December 31st. I intend to give up candy. I intend to give
up soda and give up alcohol for the rest of the year. That's a little extreme, but maybe you want
to go that way. Cool. That means I'm going to take out all of the crappy food that's inside of my
house, no bags of chips, and I'm going to replace it with fruit, vegetables, all of that stuff. And I will
work out four times a week and meal prep every single Sunday so that all of the meals that I eat
I know are going to be the ones that I need to be eating. So I don't get into the point of like,
oh, I'm guessing, let me just settle on some chips. Okay, so that'd be an example of the weight.
I have my goal, I have the date, what I intend to give up and exactly what the plan is to get there. Let's say you're in sales. Let's say you're in
sales and you want to make a quarter million dollars this year. You want to make $250,000
this year and you want to make it by December 31st. So you're going to say, my goal is I will
make $250,000 this year by December 31st. I will give up texting. I will give up social media
and any of that type of stuff while I am at work. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to keep my
phone in the drawer so that I, and I'm going to lock the drawer so that therefore I don't go in,
you know, waste my time on my phone, playing, texting on Instagram, on TikTok, and I'll have
more time to be productive. I will make a hundred phone
calls every single day, no matter what. I will not leave the office until I accomplish a hundred
calls every single day. And I will follow up with all of my potential clients,
all of the follow-ups that I need every Friday from three to 5 PM.
Pretty damn good goal. Okay. Now we know what we need to do. And so you're coming up with this
statement, this three to five sentences of exactly what it is that you want. Maybe you want more
peace in your life. Maybe you've been so anxious lately. There's so many things going on in the
world. You feel so much anxiety. So maybe you say, okay, my goal is to have no anxiety by November
1st of this year. And in order to do that, I will give up all forms of caffeine, because you know
caffeine is bringing you stress and anxiety, all of the stuff that might make you anxious. I will
give up all relationships that bring me some sort of stress. I will meditate every morning for 10
minutes and use my gratitude journal every single morning. I will set an hourly reminder on my phone to take six
deep conscious breaths with my eyes closed to try to center myself and call in more peace into my
life. And I will replace every negative thought that I have with a positive one as soon as they
pop up. Boom. That's a great example. Like that's not money. That's not weight.
That's peace. Any goal that you have, you know, maybe you want to have a better relationship with
your children. Okay. What are you going to do? How are you going to show up? How are you going
to build that relationship with your children? And what you start to do is you actually start
to put in place exactly what it is that you need to do. You become clear on it, what you need to give up, how you're going to do it, all of that. It's simple, isn't it? Very simple. Now, here's the last step of the six steps
and I will give you my bonus step, step seven. Step number six is to take that clear and concise
statement and read it out loud to yourself at least twice a day. Once when you wake up in the morning
and once right before you go to bed.
So the best thing to do
is to do what they call habit stacking.
You take something that you already do
and stack the new habit on top of it.
I hope that you brush your teeth every single day.
So if you brush your teeth every single day,
what you're going to do
is you're going to brush your teeth in the morning,
then immediately read your statement out loud to yourself so that
you're seeing it, you're saying it, and you're hearing it. Not just read it, read it out loud
to yourself. Don't try to skip any steps. So you're going to do that and you're going to read
out loud to yourself in the morning, in the evening. So every morning when you brush your
teeth, as soon as you get done brushing your teeth, read out loud to yourself. Every evening
when you get done brushing your teeth, read it out loud to yourself. So therefore
you're constantly reminding and programming this new life that you're trying to create in yourself.
So if you happen to veer off path yesterday, oh shit, that's right, I forgot about this.
And you remind yourself every single day, twice a day. Because all too often,
one of the things that holds people back the most from hitting their goals is they simply just forget. They go back into old habits. They
go back into old patterns. They fall back into them because it's easy to fall into them. And so
what you do is you remind yourself every single day, multiple times a day. So you can correct,
make changes, micro adjustments every single day and get yourself back on path. So that's number
six.
Now my bonus one, which is the one that I love and I always ask when I used to have one-on-one clients I used to work with, I would always set goals with them and then I would ask them one
question. And this is the question I want you to write down. What can I do to make this easier on
myself? Because all too often we feel like having to hit a goal will require stress, will require effort, will require us pushing ourselves too hard.
What can I do to make this easier on myself?
How can I make the accomplishment of this goal feel effortless, feel like something
that's fully in alignment with who I want to be?
What can I do to make this easier on myself?
And there's many things you could do.
And you start to think about your environment.
You start to think about your social environment. How can you change that? You start to think about your
internal environment, how you speak to yourself and how you treat yourself. And then you start
to think about your external environment, the people that you surround yourself with, your house,
your car, all of those things. How can you make sure that all of those things make it easier on
yourself? How can you make your internal environment, your external environment, how can you make all of those things support your goal and make it
easier for you to get there? Because all too often people just miss this step. It doesn't have, you
don't have to struggle your way to success. It doesn't have to be hard. It doesn't have to be
something that is just brutal on you. It can become, it's funny because if you think it's
going to be hard, it's going to be hard. But if you think to yourself, how can I make it easier?
What's interesting is you will make it easier on yourself. So ask yourself after you plan all of
these things out, what can I do to make it easier for me to accomplish my goals? So those are the
seven steps that I have for you. Number one, figure out whatever it is that you want and get really damn clear on it. Number two,
figure out what you're going to give up in order to achieve it. Number three, figure out the date
that you're going to hit it by. Number four, create a plan for carrying out exactly what it is you need
to do to get there. Number five, write a clear and concise statement, four, five sentences at most.
Number six, read it out loud to yourself
every single day in the morning,
every single day in the evening.
And number seven, figure out
how you can make it easier on yourself
and make adjustments every single day.
Don't just think that the path that you're gonna follow
is gonna be perfect.
It might be, but very rarely does that happen.
It might take time for you to figure out,
oh, this came up, oh, I forgot I was doing this.
And you make micro adjustments every single time.
But if you remember to read it to yourself
every single day and every single evening,
it's really hard to forget.
And if you remind yourself over and over and over
and over and over again,
you're much more likely to accomplish that goal.
So that's what I got for you for today's episode.
