Give us a rating and review however you listen to us.
The more that we get positive ratings and reviews, the more that stuff like Spotify and Apple Podcasts end
up showing this to other people, and that's the way that we grow organically. So if you love this
podcast and you think that other people should listen to it and it's giving you some value,
please take 15 seconds, give us a rating and review, and I would greatly, greatly appreciate
it. Today, I'm going to be talking about nine habits of
highly successful people. I don't think any of these are going to be seriously groundbreaking
for most people that are listening. You probably could guess the majority of these, but I'm going
to talk to you about the research that I've done and what I found out about these, but also at the
same time, it should be a really good reminder for everyone who is listening. So these are all just
habits that I found. These are not
things that you have to do to be successful. Like number one, you're going to find out you don't
have to do this to be successful. But if you were to do all nine of these, I would guarantee you're
going to do pretty damn well for yourself over the course of your lifetime. So success habit number
one, majority of the people, not all of them, but the majority of the people I found that are
multimillionaires to billionaires wake up early. When I looked at, for instance, Jack Dorsey,
he's got a net worth of about $3 billion. He usually wakes up at 5.30 AM and meditates and
then goes on a six mile run. Richard Branson is worth over $5 billion. He wakes up at 5.45
on his private island, eats breakfast, and then works out. Tim Cook, he's worth over a billion dollars. He wakes up at 4.30 a.m. and is usually at the gym by 5 a.m. Howard Schultz, he's worth
over $4.5 billion. He's founder of Starbucks. He wakes up at 4.30 a.m. to walk his dogs and then
work out. Steve Jobs, if he was still alive, when you look at what he used to do, he used to wake
up at 6 a.m. at the latest every single morning and go to work out. And so when you look at that, it's like, do you have to wake up early to be
successful? Absolutely not. But when you wake up earlier, I find with a lot of people that do wake
up earlier is it's so much quieter. There's so much less distractions. And it's usually just an
easy time for you to fill your own cup before you feel like you have to go do something for someone
else. So if you want to be more successful, try to put that on your plate. Wake up a little bit earlier, maybe before the kids get up. You focus on yourself.
You focus on what it is that you need to do in order to get to where you want to go. So
that is success habit number one. Success habit number two is the majority of them write down
their goals. I've told you this before, but there was a Harvard study done in the 1970s
that found out that only 3%
of their graduating class with MBAs wrote down their goals. 10 years later in the 1980s, they
followed up with all of those graduating people, the people who graduated 10 years before, found
out that those 3% were 10 times more successful monetarily than all the other 97% combined.
Why is that? All they did was write down their goals. Well, there's a couple of
hypotheses that you could have around this or theories that you could have around this.
The first thing is you could think, well, I mean, they're sitting there, they're writing it down.
It makes it real. It makes it physical in this world. And now it's something to work towards.
There's that. There's also the fact that when you write something down, it's on pen and paper. Well,
now you can start to figure it out and make a plan of how to make sure it actually happens.
And so there's a lot of things where you can realize that it's physical. It's right there
in front of you. You can start to write it down. You can work through it. If you're writing down
your goals every single day, you're not going to forget your goals. How many people have a
New Year's resolution and then six months later forget what their New Year's resolution was?
Many people do that. And so one of the things that I've found is that some of the most successful
people write down their goals. One of the most successful people that I know
personally, he literally brings his, I kid you not, I don't know if I've ever seen him without
his journal. Every time I see him, he has his journal with him. And in the back of his journal
has all of his goals and how he's tracking on his yearly goals throughout the course of the year.
He brings it with him everywhere. And it's not like the guy has to be more successful. He has to make more money. He's
worth over $150 million. But it's just cool to see like this guy got to where he is because he was
so diligent about writing down his goals, journaling, figuring out where he needs to go,
and making micro adjustments throughout the day. So habit number two is to write down your goals.
Habit number three, work ethic. For some reason,
there's two sides to work ethic. When I say work ethic, I don't mean work your life away.
A lot of people think, oh, hard work means that I have to have no life. No, no, no. Hard work
has been demonized by a lot of people, I feel like. It's gotten a bad rap by like hustle culture
and grind, grind, grind, grind.
But when I say work hard, I mean, you find out you work from this time to this time.
And when you're working, you're freaking working. Like you're getting shit done.
A lot of people, they don't have much work ethic. So they'll say, I'm going to work from this time
to this time. And they run their own business and then they run their own business and they
kind of do some stuff, but it's not like needle moving
activities in their business. So habit number three, when I say work ethic, like working hard,
means that in the time that they're in their business, in the time that they're in their
career, they are getting stuff done. There's no other distractions. There's nothing outside of
that. And when they're done working, say seven o'clock hits, six o'clock hits, and that's their cutoff time, they're done. They're hardcore in it.
And then when they're out of it, they're hardcore out of it. And so success habit number three is
to develop a strong work ethic. Notice I use the phrase develop because I don't think anybody's
just born with work ethic. I know for me, when I was younger, I had no work ethic. I was super lazy. But over years, I just developed it. And I believe that it's something
that anybody can develop. So that's number three, develop strong work ethic. Habit number four,
you heard me say it at the very beginning, but almost every single one of the people that I
researched exercised at some point in time. Why? Because exercise is important. They understand
that when you exercise, you have more energy. When you take care of your body, you're going to be able to think clearer. You're going to be able to work more. You understand that when you exercise you have more energy when you take care of your body
You're going to be able to think clear you're going to be able to work more
You're going to be able to get more stuff done
You know, if you look has anybody seen like jeff bezos lately like the dude's ripped
It's the second richest man in the world shredded
You know, he used to be a dorky guy, you know, five ten years ago, but he got shredded
So one of the things that I see with a lot of people who are highly, highly successful is they make exercise a priority. They make taking care of themselves a
priority. And so if you're looking at yourself, you're looking at your body, you're looking at
your habits, you're looking at how you take care of yourself or don't take care of yourself. You're
looking at the food that you eat. Maybe you should reprioritize some of the stuff that you do and
realize that you should exercise more often as well. So that's number four. Success habit number five is that they read often. This is a crazy statistic
that I found out too long ago. And the statistic was that 80% of United States households did not
buy a book last year. 80%. And just over 30% of people who graduate high school never read another book their
entire life. Over 40% of people who graduate college never read another book again. And 80%
of U.S. households did not buy a book last year. But the average CEO statistically reads 60 books per year.
Wow.
That's more than one book a week.
So what does that show you?
With just wanting to be more successful,
wanting to improve yourself and get to be further ahead than where you are right now,
you should be prioritizing what you're reading.
You should be prioritizing the knowledge that
you're bringing into your brain. If so few people in this world are reading and you want to set
yourself apart, develop the skill, develop the habit of reading as often as you possibly can.
Once again, 80% of households in the United States last year did not buy a book. Over 30%
of people who graduate high school never read another book again. Over 40% of people who graduate high school never read another book again. Over 40% of people
who graduate college never read another book again. But 60% of CEOs, I'm sorry, not 60%,
the average CEO reads 60 books per year. So if you just want to be more successful,
read some more books. So that's number five. Hey, we all want to turn back the clock. For some,
it's vanity. Others, you just want to relive your glory days. For me, I love to wake up early every
morning with zero brain fog, a clear mind, and as energized as I was when I was younger. And for me,
my mental cognition is a big thing for me and what I focus on every single day. But thanks to the

Success habit number six
is that they are really good at planning their week
every single week.
One of the things that I've found with people
that really holds them back,
I've coached tons and tons,
over a thousand business owners
of how to grow their business.
One of the things that I found that is a skills set that needs to be developed among almost everybody is time
management. So many people have such time management skills. And one of the things I
found with successful people is that they usually take 10 to 20 minutes every single Sunday and they
plan out their week going into the week. And then they take about five minutes every single Sunday and they plan out their week going into the week. And then they take about five minutes every single morning. They look at their week, what they got going on,
and then they make micro adjustments throughout that. And so one way you can plan your week that
I always recommend with people that I do, I've been doing for probably 14, 15 years at this
point now, is very simple. It's called look back, look forward, and stop, start, continue.
It's called look back, look forward, and stop, start, continue.
On Sunday, you look back of how the last week went.
And then you look forward on what this next week has coming up.
And you ask yourself, what should I stop?
What should I start?
What should I continue?
So what should I stop doing that I did last week?
Oh, I was sleeping in.
Okay, I need to stop doing that.
What should I start doing coming into this week?
And what should I continue doing? And you
make these adjustments every single week. If you literally do this every single week, you will
notice massive changes in your life in a very, very short period of time. And so what do you do?
You take 10 to 20 minutes with yourself every single Sunday. You look back, you look forward,
you ask yourself, what should I stop doing? What should I start doing? What should I continue doing?
And then you take five minutes every single morning and you see what you have planned for the day and figure out what small
adjustments you need to make to make the best you possibly can. And a little side tip, one thing that
I would recommend that you do, ask yourself this question every single morning when you're planning,
what can I do to make today amazing? What can I do to make today amazing? So that's number six. Success habit number seven
is that they practice positive self-talk. They actually learn that they don't need to talk
shit to themselves. They need to build themselves up. When you're on the path of working on yourself,
improving yourself, trying to build a great business, trying to build a great life,
whatever it is you're trying to do, there's going to be some bumps. There's going to be some bruises. There's going to be some
hardships. You're not going to get through this life without some sort of scars. You need to be
your number one fan. You need to be the person that's in your corner more than anybody else.
And so you've got to develop the routine of positive self-talk. When you notice your self-talk
trash yourself, pause, replace that
with something better, and then keep on with what's going on about your day. Learn how to actually get
better with your thoughts. Learn how to get better with the way that you speak. You know, I run a,
I teach a lot of coaches how to grow their coaching businesses. And I was on a call with
one of our elite coaches the other day, and she caught herself in the middle of saying something that was awesome to see. She said, one of the things I've struggled
with in the past, and I was like, yes, nice. She caught herself in the middle of saying it,
because if she says, I struggle with this, she will continue to struggle with it.
Now, she said, what I've struggled with in the past. It might seem like a small shift,
but a small shift in your words can be a massive shift in your identity and your actions.
And so you've got to learn to develop positive self-talk, and that is success habit number seven.
Success habit number eight is that they have mentors. The average millionaire
has seven mentors before they become a millionaire. There are some people that are
listening to this podcast that have never had a mentor before. And then people always go, okay, well, how do I find a mentor? That's
immediate question. There's two different types of mentors you could have. There's paid mentors,
there's free mentors. Both of them have their benefits. I prefer having paid mentors. I would
prefer to pay to somebody than to have somebody that's free. I do have many free mentors,
people that are older than me, people that are running businesses similar to mine,
some people have businesses that are further along than mine, people who I look up to that
have great relationships, I want to develop a great relationship like theirs. But then I also
have paid mentors. The reason why I prefer paid mentors is because they feel morally obligated
to help you improve because you are paying them. And a lot of times they will give you all of their
secrets, they will make you a hundred times more than the amount that you're paying them. And a lot of times they will give you all of their secrets. They
will make you a hundred times more than the amount that you're paying them. Like I'll give you a
great example. I met a guy a few years ago and he had the same type of business that I had.
And he became a friend of mine. At the time that we met, my business was about $500,000.
His was at $4 million. So his business was doing eight times more than what
mine was. And I literally said, hey, if I pay you $25,000, will you teach me everything that you
know and how you built this business? He's like, yeah, I could teach you. That gave me access to
him. We talked all of the time. We traveled different places together. I got to see how he
ran his business, how he ran his mastermind. Lo and behold, a few years
later, fast forward, my business went from 500,000 to over 5 million. I think a lot of that is
because of the fact that I invested into having this guy. Now you might be out there and say,
well, I don't have that much money. No big deal. You could still pay somebody to be their mentee
if they exist. You know, like I would rather, if I was like, you know what, I want to start a, if you're out there, you're like, I want to start an e-com store. I don't
personally know anything about e-commerce, but let's say you want to start an e-com store.
You could go and you could try to figure it out on your own. You could go onto YouTube and you
could find some free videos. You could download some free PDFs, all that stuff. Or you could pay
someone a few thousand dollars to go through their course, or you could pay someone a few,
you know, $10,000 to coach you one-on-one for six months, whatever it is, you will have massive improvement
in a very short period of time when you decide to go the paid route versus the free on YouTube
route. This isn't me trying to sell you anything. I got nothing to sell you, but I'm just going to
tell you, you'll notice that when you have a paid mentor, their job is to collapse time.
So you don't have to make all the mistakes that they made. So that's the reason why so many successful people have mentors. So that's number
eight. Last but not least, success habit number nine. One of the things that I found is that a
lot of very successful people are hardcore on their proper nutrition and sleep. Not everybody,
but a lot of them do. Why? Because when you're a nutritionist, you have the proper nutrition, you make sure you get everything that you need, you have a lot of energy. And if
you have a lot of energy, you get more work done in a shorter period of time. And if you sleep,
it makes you prioritize your sleep and you're well-rested. So if you're well-rested and you're
eating really great food and taking care of your blood work and all that type of stuff and making
sure that you're where you need to be, you'll notice you have way more energy than you should. You're like,
I've never, this is like superhuman amounts of energy. And so they focus on proper nutrition
and sleep so they can have the energy to get done what they need to get done. So those are the nine
success habits that I found from highly successful people. Number one, they wake up early. Number two,
they write down their goals. Number three, they have strong work ethic. Number four, they exercise often. Number five, they also read often. Number six, they plan out
their week every single Sunday. Number seven, they practice positive self-talk. Number eight,
they have mentors. And number nine, they have proper nutrition and sleep. So that's what I
got for you for today's episode. If you love this episode, please share this on your Instagram
