Welcome to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast, one of the top motivational podcasts in the
world.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we come out with a short, to the point, no BS episode
to help make massive changes in your mind and transform you from who you are now to
who you want to be.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you
never miss another episode. And last but not least, if you have not heard, I have a 48-hour New Year
New You Challenge. And the cool thing about that is that for two days straight, I'm going to be
going live in a private Facebook group teaching how to change your paradigm, how to change the
way you think about yourself, the way you think about the world, and how to go through your goals
day by day to hit them for 2019. So if you want to get a head start into 2019,
day by day to hit them for 2019. So if you want to get a head start into 2019,
this would be the perfect place to do it. And it's absolutely free. All you have to do to get into this private Facebook group is send an email to RD, like my initials, Rob Dial, rd
at robdial.com. So once again, rd at robdial.com, send an email there and we will send you a link
to that private Facebook group
so you can start learning and growing today. Okay. Today I am going to be doing part two
from the episode that I just did two days before this, it should be, which was talking about
building yourself. Growing into yourself is really what it is. Growing into the person
that you need to become. And today what I'm going to be talking about is acting as if, and we've all heard the phrase before to act
as if. People say, oh, act as if you should do it as if you already have it, pretend that you
already have it. But then we don't really know what that means. We don't know why it's important.
We're not really sure how to apply it in our lives. And in the last episode, when I talked
about growing into yourself and you talk
about, hey, I'm at point A and I need to get to point B, who do I need to be at point B in order
to get the success that I want? That was the last episode. If you haven't listened to the last
episode, go back and listen to it. So this episode will make more sense to you. And if you're taking
notes on who you need to be and the qualities that you need to have in order to have the success that you want,
in order to have the life that you plan, in order to have the business that you want or the relationships that you want or the finances that you want,
if you know who you need to be at point B, then the easiest thing for you to do is as you're planning on becoming this person,
is you act as if you're already that
person. Let me explain what I mean. You pretty much fake it until you make it. You do things
throughout the day that the perfect you quote unquote, the perfect you would do the person at
point B that you need to be. You start doing things as if you're already them. Why is this
important? Because what you start doing is you start asking
yourself questions like, would the future me do this? If you're sitting on the couch and you're
lazy, you ask yourself this question, would the future me be sitting on the couch or would they
be up working towards their success? Would the future me be taking the night off instead of
working a little bit harder? Would the future me be going out night off instead of working a little bit harder?
Would the future me be going out and partying on a Friday or Saturday night when I really
know there's other things that I should be doing that's more important?
And you ask yourself these questions and what you're going to start doing is realizing that
you have some habits or some traits or some patterns that you need to break.
So the question you ask yourself is, would the perfect me, the future me do that?
And that's why it's so important that you have to listen to the last episode for this to make sense. If you sleep in,
you ask yourself, would the future me sleep in? When the alarm goes off at six o'clock in the
morning and you so badly just want to hit the snooze button, ask yourself, would the future me
sleep in? If you show up late to meet up with somebody,
even if it's just your friends, and you know that they're going to be late anyways,
if you show up late, you ask yourself, would the future me show up late to an appointment
with my friends? If you procrastinate, you ask yourself, would the future me
procrastinate? Would the future me dive straight in right now?
If you skip the gym, you can ask yourself,
would the future me have skipped the gym? If you lose your temper, ask yourself, would the future
me do that? And you start to make these adjustments every single day, multiple times a day, 10, 20,
40, 50, a hundred times a day. And you start to make adjustments to become the person that
you need to become in order to get the success that you need, that you want later on in the
future. And you make these adjustments every single day, little tiny adjustments. Would the
future me not call somebody back? And you make all of these little adjustments, and you see the perfect you in the future that
has the life that you want, they act a certain way. They dress a certain way. They carry themselves
a certain way. They hold themselves to a certain standard, a much, much, much higher standard than
where you carry yourself right now, where you actually hold yourself right now. They push
themselves to be better every single day.
They work out often. They make smart decisions. They surround themselves with the right people.
They invest a lot of money into their knowledge, into becoming a better person,
into getting the right coaches to do stuff that help them get to where they want to be quicker.
So what you want to do is start acting like that person as soon as possible. You act like that person right now, as soon as you're done.
You act like that person before this podcast is even over.
And you hold yourself to a higher standard.
Because like I said, the perfect you, they act a certain way.
And you need to start acting that way.
So what you ask yourself is, would the future me do this?
Would the future me have done
that? And you start making your decisions like that. Would the future me start waking up earlier?
Yeah, they would. All right. Well, then I'm going to start doing it because I need to grow into that
person. That is my goal is to grow into that person. So you need to start acting like them
as soon as possible. It will rid you of the habits that you have that you cannot have in order
to become that person. It will force you to become that person quicker in order to get rid of the
person that you are now. Not a bad one, but that person is not who you need to be at point B.
To be the person that you need to be at point B, the person that you need to become,
because that's what you want. You want to become that person that has the life that you want. That's what you're working
towards, building yourself, growing into yourself every single day. And you don't have to look at
others and say, I want that life, or I want to be that person and get jealous. What you have to do
is say, I want my perfect self to be exactly like that.
I want to take that trait from that successful person that I know.
So what you need to do as soon as you get done or as you're listening to this is grab a pen and
paper and ask yourself, what do I need to start doing today? That's the key. What do I need to
start doing today in order to start acting like the person that I need to become? What do I need to start doing today in order to start acting like the person that I need to become?
What do I need to start doing today to act as if I'm that person right now?
What simple adjustments or changes can I make right now?
Right now is the key. What person do I need to become? What habits do I need to change?
And then the thing that people don't realize is the key. What person do I need to become? What habits do I need to change? And then the thing
that people don't realize is the most successful people are the most self-aware. They constantly
think about all of the different things that they're doing. They readjust, they reevaluate
all day long. And so if you ask yourself these questions of, would the future me do that?
You can start making smarter decisions to make you become that person quicker
than having to become that person later
or maybe never even becoming that person.
So with that, I hope you liked this episode.
I hope you have already listened to the episode before it,
which is titled Grow Into Yourself.
And what I want you to do
is if you like these two episodes,
