Now the thing I want you to realize is this, first off fear is a survival tool. Fear is the most important thing that kept humans alive for two million years.
Starting point is 00:00:55 The reason why we're alive is because we had fears that kept us alive. Now in modern day fears are not needed and let me explain what I mean by that. Fears used to be physical. Fears used to be you walk outside of your cave or outside of your hut and you might get attacked by a lion. You had to have that physical fear of the things of the physical world around you right. We don't have the physical fears like we used to. We don't have to worry about leaving our house and getting attacked by a lion we don't have to worry about eating berries that will possibly kill us right those fears are all in the physical world now what we've done is because that part of our brain
Starting point is 00:01:36 that creates fear called the amygdala still exists is we've created fears that really don't matter they're not in the physical world Think about it if I were to ask you what your biggest fear in the entire world is It's holding you back from being the best version of yourself It's probably not something that's out in the physical world It's something that's happening inside of your head You know the fear of judgment the fear of failure the fear of rejection the fear of not being smart enough pretty enough Good-looking or you know the fact that people won't accept you. Those things are not in the physical world.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Those are all mental. You can't hold judgment. You can't hold failure. You can't hold rejection. You can't hold any of those things. So you have to realize that the fears are not holding you back. The way you are thinking is what is holding you back. And so what you need to think about is, okay, if fears, my mental fears, the things that
Starting point is 00:02:34 aren't actually in the physical world, my mental fears are holding me back. How do I get past these mental fears? All of these are made up in your mind, which means that you can release them if you use your mind the right way. And so the easiest way to change the way that you look at stuff is to think as if you're having a conversation with your brain, right? And you want to ask your brain questions. This is serious. Ask your brain questions that will then prove it wrong, right? You start to get really clear on what it is and you start to prove it wrong or show it how silly it is to have these fears in modern day. I'm going to give you four questions that are going to help you overcome this.
Starting point is 00:03:12 The best way to work through this is to get a pen and paper and to write down what I ask you and then force yourself to actually answer it with a pen and paper. You literally write it down. Don't think about it, but write it down because when you write it down, it's actually physical. And once again, your brain goes, oh, this is something physical in the world. So the first question that you want to ask yourself is what am I afraid of? And you want to get very clear on exactly what it is that you're afraid of. So let's say for instance, you want to start putting videos up on Facebook, right? You ask yourself, but you're not doing it.
Starting point is 00:03:46 You get everything set up, you get the camera set up, and you're about to go put something and press record and get ready to go, but for some reason, you just can't hit the record button. It's just not, there's something holding you back. So what you're gonna ask yourself and write down is what am I afraid of? What is it that I am fearing in this moment right now? What am I afraid of? What is it that I am fearing in this moment right now? What am I afraid of?
Starting point is 00:04:09 That's the first question you want to get clear on. You want to make sure that you ask yourself. Get very clear on what it is. The second thing that you want to ask yourself is, is it real? Right? Is it real? You're now proving to your brain, this is the point, how ridiculous it is to hold onto this. Is it real? Okay. So my fear is that I want to go put something on Facebook, but I'm afraid of judgment. That might be the first, I'm afraid of being judged. That's the answer to number one. So then the question is, is it real? Is judgment real? Is judgment something you can physically hold on to in your hand? The answer is no. And so your brain's going to go, oh, wait, so I've been worrying about, I've had this fear.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Because fear, the only reason why I have fear is to keep us alive. Fear means death. If we fear something, we're thinking death. And so your brain is going, judgment, not real, can't hold it. It's not in the physical world. Why the hell am I afraid of it? It doesn't make any sense to hold onto this fear anymore. Is it real? No, it's not real. It's made up in my head. Sometimes we think that people are judging us when they're not actually
Starting point is 00:05:15 even really judging us in the first place. So that is not real. So then your brain goes, oh man, maybe I should release this. So number two is, is it real? Number three is, does it matter, right? Does this judgment, you know, I might be afraid of people judging me, but does it matter if they judge me? No, it doesn't. Does my life change at all? Does my physical outside life change at all if I get judged? No, it doesn't, right? Nobody dies. No emergencies happen if I get judged. No, it doesn't. Nobody dies. No emergencies happen if I get judged. I might feel different about myself, but the way I feel about myself is created in my head, so I can overcome that if I need to. So does it matter? No, it doesn't matter. What the hell am I worried about all these things for? You're telling me that the fear of judgment is the
Starting point is 00:06:03 one thing holding me back from being the best version of myself or helping millions of people across the world or whatever it is that you're trying to do. And you go, so this thing that doesn't even actually physically exist is scaring the crap out of me. The hell am I doing? And you start to, once again, you start to go, this is silly. And your brain's like, this is silly. Why are we doing this?
Starting point is 00:06:21 Why are we holding ourselves back? Let's do it anyways, right? You're trying to prove yourself wrong. You're trying to prove to your brain that this is silly. Why are we doing this? Why are we holding ourselves back? Let's do it anyways, right? You're trying to prove yourself wrong. You're trying to prove to your brain that this is silly to hold on to. And number four, question number four, is what would make this easier? What would make it easier for me to be able
Starting point is 00:06:35 to create this video and put it up onto the internet? What would make it easier to get past this judgment? Maybe I sit down with a friend and I say, hey, you know what? I'm thinking about making these videos. What is your opinion? And your friend might go, oh my gosh, that's an amazing idea. And then you think to yourself, wait, so hold on. I was holding myself back because I was afraid of being judged by my friends. I just asked my friend. She said that she thinks it's a great idea. Well, what the hell am I waiting for? Why don't I start making these videos? And so what
Starting point is 00:07:03 you're trying to do is prove your brain, prove yourself, prove that you should do whatever it is that you need to do. Prove that your fear is silly because your fear is not real, right? Your fear is not real. Real means it exists in the physical world. Getting attacked by a mountain lion. Yes, that's a real fear. Getting judged by people. No, that's not a real fear. It's something that you have created in your mind because you don't have these physical fears of mountain lions existing anymore. So your brain is going, well, what the hell should I worry about then? Well, I got to create something because it's part of your brain. The amygdala still exists. It still creates fears and you don't have to worry about that mountain lion, but maybe I have something else I need to worry about. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:07:46 judgment. Yeah, that's what I should worry about. It's got to keep itself busy. And so your job is to prove it wrong. Make yourself realize how silly it is. And eventually what happens is you're able to start working through your fears because you realize that your fears really don't matter in the first place. They're pointless. They're not something to actually fear. As I say, fear stands for false expectations appearing real. They appear real. They're not real. So ask yourself those four questions, and those will help you get past whatever's holding you back. So that's all I got for you today. Make sure that you hit the subscribe button.
