Welcome to today's episode if you have
not yet done so hit that subscribe
button so that you never miss another
episode and last but not least I want to
make a quick announcement for you for
all of you people who enjoy writing out
there who are you know are professional
writers or want to be professional
writers or it's a really really strong
hobby of yours
I am currently looking for two intern paid writers. So first off, it's going to start
off intern to make sure that someone works with our team and works correctly with our team,
but it will turn into actually being a paid writer. And we're looking for someone to write
a couple three to 500 word blogs for us every single week. And so if you're interested, if you're a writer and
you want to work with myself, my team, and to help you get your name and your content out there,
you will get credit for everything that you write, which is what's awesome. You won't be a ghost
writer. What I want you to do is send me an email with the video three to five minutes long. It has
to be a video, three to five minute video. You take the video, you put it up on YouTube, and then you email me rob at robdial.com. And there's four things that
you need to do. So if you want to be a part of this, you're going to need to jot down number one,
tell me about yourself. Number two, what makes you qualified for this position? Number three,
what makes you different than everybody else that's going to be applying? And number four,
why do you want to be a writer for my company? And what we'll have you do is we will have you write three to 500 word
articles every single week, probably two to three every single week. And I'm looking for two paid
intern writers. You can put on your resume, you'll get credit for everything. And that'll be an
exciting thing for it because we are starting a whole written side of what it is that
I do. And in order to do that, because I hate writing, I need some people to help me put some
information out there. I'll be working with you. We'll be working with each other and we'll be
creating some incredible content in written format so that people can have more motivation,
more inspiration, and more knowledge on how to grow themselves. Because I realized that where I
am, being a person who hates writing, I'm missing a whole lot of people because some people just
love reading the written word. So if you're interested, once again, send me the email,
three to five minute video, make it, put it up on YouTube, make it unlisted, and then send me
the video link telling me about yourself, what makes you qualified, what makes you different than
everyone else, and why you want to be a writer for my company. And I would greatly appreciate it
if you get that over to me pretty soon, sometime in the next few days, as soon as you listen to
this, because I would love to start interviewing people and bringing some writers on the team as
soon as possible. So send an email to rob at robdial.com. Okay, let's dive in. Today, I want
to talk about your dreams.
You know, I was talking with a friend of mine today, and we were talking about dreams and how,
you know, coming up into the next year, what is her goal for the next year? And we were with a
group of people. What is everyone else's goals for the next year? And the one thing that I never
actually said out loud, but the thing that I was thinking in my own head was, I feel, I feel like these people are shooting too small in, in, you know, this is not saying
anything. It's actually saying something good about them because I feel like they're capable
of so much more than they actually shoot for, you know, in a lot of people, this is what I find.
A lot of people, uh, they don't shoot for goals big enough. And the reason why their goals are
so small is because number one, they don't want to goals big enough. And the reason why their goals are so small is because
number one, they don't want to disappoint themselves. Or number two, they don't know
what would happen if they hit a big goal. So it's either number one, the fear of success,
or number two, it's the fear of failure. And so if you're out there, I want you to think about this.
When you think about your goals for the rest of this year or for next year, what are they?
Think about this. When you think about your goals for the rest of this year or for next year,
what are they? Think about that for a second. You know, let's say your goal is to, you know,
make a hundred thousand dollars next year. Okay. That's amazing. That's great. Maybe you've never made a hundred thousand dollars and that's your first goal. You want to get to a hundred thousand
dollars and you'd be stoked about that. The next question that I have for you is why not make it a million dollars next year?
Right now. And here's the thing. I know that for some of you out there that are like, yeah,
I want to make a hundred thousand dollars next year. And then I say a million, there's a tightening up of your stomach. There's butterflies. There's like a holy shit moment that happens, right?
Where you're like, Oh yeah, I don't know about that one. And you get that feeling of like,
ah, yeah, no, that's not right. That that's too big. And, and, and so't know about that one. And you get that feeling of like, ah, yeah, no, that's not
right. That that's too big. And, and, and so you think about that and you're like, what,
what is that actual feeling? Cause for me, you always hear me preach the whole thing of, you
know, when you're inside of the jar, you can't read the label. I want you to read the label.
When you get that tightening up of your stomach, what is that tightening up? Is it,
Ooh, that's more than I'm capable of. Is that the feeling
of like, Oh yeah, man, I can't a million dollars in a year. Oh my God. There's no way that I could
do that. Cause cause if you have that feeling, guess what? That feeling is what is actually
holding you back from creating the life that you want. That feeling, that fear that I'm not good
enough is actually what's holding you back from creating the life that you want. That feeling, that fear that I'm not good enough is actually what's holding you back
from creating the life that you want. So think about that for a second. What was that feeling
that you just felt if you felt that way? The rest of you out there that maybe your goal isn't to
make a hundred thousand dollars next year. Maybe it's something else. I want you to think of your
goal on top of your head. Ready? I'm going to give you a few seconds, just a few seconds in
silence. Say, what is my goal for either the rest of this year or what is my goal for next year? Ready? I'm going to give you five seconds. What is your goal?
What is your main goal for next year? Go ahead. Think about it.
Did you think about it? What is it? Whatever it is, I want you to multiply it by 10.
Multiply it by 10. Did you get the feeling now?
Did you get that? Oh shit. I don't know if that's possible feeling. Did you get that?
Because it might sound crazy for you to say, I should 10 X my goal, but it's really not.
Lots of people, you know, if your goal is a hundred thousand and you 10 X it,
lots of people make over a million dollars per year. Why can't
you be one of them? Hmm? Because you're in charge of that. No one else is in charge of it. You are
in charge of it, which means that if you don't have the feeling that you can or should do it,
then you will not do it, which means that you are your worst enemy while you're trying to go out and
hit your goals. Cause it might sound crazy to 10 extra goals, but it's really not. Peter Thiel,
who started PayPal, and he's one of the first investors in tons of companies like Facebook and
Uber, I think. He's a multi-multi-billionaire. When he sits down with people who want to mentor
with him, he says, hey, John, tell me what is is your 10 year goal? And they sit there for a second and they say, okay, well, you know, my 10 year goal is this,
this, this, this, and this is what it looks like in 10 years. And he listens to them and he says,
okay, why can't you do it in the next six months? And then he, he, what he does is he challenges
them. What, why are you, why don't you think big now instead of thinking big in the future?
So for all of you guys that are planning your New Year's resolutions, you're planning your year out,
you're planning your next quarter. What would happen if you sat down and wrote down your goal
and then said, I'm going to 10X it. I'm going to 10X this number right here.
I have a client, we were speaking the other day and his goal is to make $1.5 million next year. And I was like, cool, that's great. And I said, why don't you do it in the next six months
of the year? Like, why don't you do it in quarter one and quarter two? And it's great because I know
we've been working together for a while. And he said, you know what? I am going to do that. But
I know a year ago when we first started working together, he would have been like, oh yeah,
I don't know if that's possible because the only thing that's holding you back is your own mentality of what is possible and what's not possible.
You know, I'm sure that there's people that don't think it's possible for them to make a million
dollars. And maybe not at your job, but you as a human, it's possible. Maybe your goal is you want
to acquire 20 new customers in your business before the end of the year, well, why don't you
shoot for 200? And I don't mean kind of shoot for 200 or do it because it sounds cool, but I mean,
legitimately 10 X everything that you do. See, because in society, when we're aspiring to do
something big, people try to talk down to us. People try to talk crap to you and talk crap on your dreams.
And it starts to make you think smaller and smaller. You start to think you can't see me,
but quote unquote realistic. There's no such thing as realistic. The only thing that's realistic is
what you allow yourself to think is realistic. So if you say making a hundred thousand dollars
is realistic, then it is. If you say making a million dollars is realistic, then it is.
If you say 20 customers by the end of the year is realistic, then it is.
If you say 200 is realistic, then it is.
So the only one that's actually governing how far you're actually going to go in life is you.
Not everybody else that you're listening to or anybody else who might be cutting you down
or saying that you're not enough.
It's you and only you.
Think about that for a second.
People are afraid to start. People are afraid to dream big. They're afraid of what it would take
to get there. You know, they know in order to go big, it's going to require a lot out of them.
And mentally, you know, if you're going, you know what, I want to make a million dollars next year,
you know, it's going to take a lot out of you. You know, it will, but you also think about it and you go, Oh, but if
it's going to, if I want to make a million, it's going to take a lot out of me. Then I have to do
this and I have to do this and I have to do this. And your brain's immediately going, oof. Yeah.
Your brain doesn't like change. So your brain's like, no, that's too much change over the course
of the year. I can't do that. You know, because change is automatically seen as a threat because
your brain doesn't know what's going to happen. Your brain's like, yeah, we've made $60,000 in
a year before. We've never made a million. Let's shut down. And let's tell Rob all of the reasons
why he's not worth it and why he's not good enough. And all of the times that he's failed
in the past so that therefore he doesn't go after the things that he wants to. Right. Our brain
will also be just as bad as society. So society can talk us down. Also our own brains
can talk us down because our brains know in order to go big, it's going to require more out of us
than we've ever done. It might require more focus, more effort, more sleepless nights, blood, sweat,
tears, overcoming fears. Ooh, that was good. I didn't mean to do that. I got a little, I should
be a rapper or something, I guess, you know, blood, sweat, tears, overcoming fears. Ooh, that was good. I didn't mean to do that. I got a little, I should be a rapper or something, I guess. Blood, sweat, tears, overcoming fears. That's
what it's going to take from you. You realize that, right? And you are going, man, you know
what though? It's a lot easier just to sit on the couch and watch Netflix. Hell yeah, it's a lot
easier to sit on the couch and watch Netflix. You know what? It's really hard, really, really hard to make money sometimes.
Do you know what's even harder? Being broke. That's what's harder than hard work. Being broke
is harder. But here's the thing. You get to pick which broke, I'm sorry, you get to pick which
hard you want. The hard work or hard because of the fact that you're broke, right? I'm here to tell you not to fear
thinking big. Don't fear going big. Don't fear shooting big. Don't fear something else that no
one else has ever done. Don't fear big, fear, small, fear, mediocre, fear, being like everybody
else, fear, wasting your one fricking life. Fear that don't fear big. Don't fear shooting for
something that could be amazing. Don't fear shooting for the stars.
Fear a mediocre life.
Fear doing what everyone else is doing.
Fear wasting your life away.
Fear the small.
That's what I say.
Because here's the deal.
If you want to do something big, big dreams, big income, big love, big amazing life, big
relationships, it's going to require that you do 99%.
Do what 99% of people will not do.
Your new mindset is required. You cannot go and accomplish what you want to accomplish
with the mind that has only accomplished what you've accomplished so far. That's why you need
to focus so much on yourself, your personal development, and your growth is because in
order for you to get what you've never gotten, you have to go into it and create a new mind that you've never had.
Oof.
You hear that?
A new mindset is required for you to do what you've never done before, which is why the
most successful people are always working on themselves.
It's sad.
Most people will never get to even close to what they could be.
Most people never get to where they could be, but you don't need to follow them. You don't need to be a sheep.
You can break free and break your mind free and break yourself free and break your family free
and shoot for something that they can't even comprehend.
Right? Because some people, you tell them what you want to do and it's like,
yeah, they don't even get it. You know, some of you are out there, you've shared your goals with
people and they just don't even get it. And that's okay. Everyone's on their own journey.
But because of the fact that they don't get it doesn't mean that you shouldn't go for what you
want. Because people will look down on you. They'll make fun of you for working so hard
for shooting big. And then they'll look up to you in jealousy when your time comes in your
quote unquote lucky for achieving what you've achieved. People always talk down to you and
they'll make fun of you until you achieve. And then they change their mind. Most people just
don't understand going big and breaking your mind free of mediocre. They don't understand not fearing something big. So from now on, instead of fearing big, you need to fear small. You need to fear
mediocrity, fear being like everyone else and wasting your life away because you're the only
one that can control this. So I hope that you make the right choices and that you will sit there and
go, you know what? I do need to stop listening to someone else because there's something so freaking deep inside of me. Like there's more. I remember
like it was yesterday. Most of my life, I was like, there's something, there's something inside
of me. I don't know what the hell it is. There's something inside of me and I don't know what it
is, but I'm going to find it. I swear to freaking God, I'm going to find out what it is. And I'm
going to knock that shit straight out of the park. And it took me 29 years to figure out what I was
supposed to be doing in life. But when I found it, I went hard at it and I went crazy. And the
thing about it is I know if you're listening to this podcast, you've felt that feeling before.
You've felt the feeling of there's more, God, there's just more inside of me. I just don't
know what it is. Don't be afraid of going for
something big because most people are afraid of what they could do as well. It's like the
incredible quote, Marianne Williamson, who, you know, she's running for president. She's sadly
not going to make it, but you know, uh, she's, uh, she's out there and she's preaching love and
she's preaching incredible stuff. And one of, you know, one of my favorite quotes ever is actually
a quote of hers. And she says, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear
is that we're powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually,
who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people will not feel insecure around you.
We're meant to shine as children do.
We're born to manifest the glory that is within all of us.
It is not in just some of us, it is within all of us.
And when you let your light shine,
we unconsciously give the permission of others to do the same. And as we're liberated from our own fear, our present,
our presence automatically liberates others. So my goal for you is for you to stop this podcast
when it's done. And what I want you to do is take out a pen and paper and write down your goal
for this year or next year
Multiply it by 10 and then ask yourself the question. What would it take?
for me to get there
So that's what I got for you for today's episode
