and see that what we're doing right now is exactly what you can do if you set your mindset to it
traveling the world is something that you can do if you really want to. We are in paradise. It's mind-blowing where we are right now. So if you
want to follow along on Instagram stories, I don't really put stuff on Snapchat anymore. It's all
Instagram stories. My handle for Instagram is rob.dial. You can follow along. And then last
but not least, if you are someone who is interested
in taking your life to the next level,
if maybe you want to do the same thing I'm doing
where you do stuff on the internet,
you have multiple streams of income
and travel the world,
maybe the group coaching that I have is right for you.
I don't teach how to travel the world.
I don't teach how to start your own business.
I teach the mindset behind all of that stuff.
How to start your own business,
how to go out on your own,
how to be financially independent, how to make more money than you thought was
possible doing something that you absolutely love.
So if you're interested in my group coaching, it is at a discount right now.
Once again, it's at a discount because of the fact that I can't run webinars and it's
normally my webinar discount price that I'm giving out.
And I'm also giving a trial period out as well.
So if you're interested in finding out more about my group coaching, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. And I will send
you some information, but it's over 40 hours of videos to help you take your life from where you
are now to where you want to go. So send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. Okay. And today
we're going to be talking about burning the ships. I had a conversation with one
of my coaching clients about burning the ships. That being said, burning the ships. I don't know
if it's a true story. I just know it's a great story. I'm pretty sure it probably is true. But
basically what it means is this. There was a Spanish conqueror and he was the captain of
these ships. And there's a bunch of ships that are going to wherever they were going to go
to wage this war, to fight this war. And when they pulled up, they had these old wooden ships. It was a couple hundred
years ago. When they pulled up to wherever it was and they were on this beach, the first thing that
he had them do was burn all of the ships, light them on fire. Because for him, it was either they
were going to go in and they were going to win this war or they were going to die doing it.
That was the only option. They were not going to retreat. They were not going to win this war or they were going to die doing it. That was the only
option. They were not going to retreat. They were not going to get back on the boats and take off.
So they burnt the boats. What that basically means is this. Winning the war or going into the war was
their plan A. And there was no plan B for them. And I noticed this and I had this conversation
where someone, the coach client said, hey, listen, I really want to do this, but then I also want to have this on the side just in case this doesn't work out. And I said, well, actually, he said, do you ever have that? Do you have a plan B for other stuff? And I said, honestly, I don't have a plan B because plan B always takes away from plan A.
plan B always takes away from plan A. Because if I have 100% capacity inside of my brain to deal with specific stuff, I want to put 100% of my brain, of my capacity, of everything that I
possibly have into this one project and into whatever this is that I'm putting into it to
make money. I don't want to have a plan B because if there's plan B,
that's taking up some of my brain capacity, knowing that it's an opportunity to be there.
And if you're an entrepreneur or if you're someone who wants to be an entrepreneur,
most just people in general, we get the shiny object syndrome. And what it is, is this.
As an entrepreneur, I feel that I could do well at anything that I do. I just have that type of
confidence with myself where I know I can learn something. I know I can figure it out. I know I
can find mentors. I know I can learn from the best. And as an entrepreneur, we have shiny object
syndrome where we see, oh, hey, here's a new opportunity. I could probably make a million
dollars doing this. Oh, here's another opportunity. I could probably make a million dollars doing
this. It's hard to stay on plan A and on the track that you're already on when you see all of these other opportunities where you could possibly make
money. But here's the thing. You have to have only plan A and no plan B set up.
And if you look at the most successful people in the world, they've basically been like this.
I'll give you an example. Ed Sheeran, who you've probably heard me speak about before,
he's an incredible musician.
And most people are like, man, he's just so talented. He's just good.
And he's just lucky in that sense.
What would happen was he actually left his parents' house at 16,
moved out, went to London at 16 years old,
dropped out of high school,
moved to London because he wanted to be a musician
and started playing 300 shows a year.
300 shows a year. 300 shows a year.
Sometimes he said he played up to six shows in one day.
That was the most he'd ever done in one day.
And what happened was this kid was homeless.
He lived at people's houses that were his friends.
He lived on their couches.
If he did a show, he would ask if he could sleep on people's couches who were there.
There were some times where he didn't have a friend's house to stay at.
He didn't have somebody who had just listened to him play their place to stay at. And he would
sleep outside in the cold in London with his guitar. That was his plan A. There was no plan
B for him. He was burning the ships. And if you look at it, he did that for six years. And after
six years, he put one album out and exploded and then just put another album out and got even bigger.
So for him, there was no plan B.
It was only plan A.
Another example of that is Honda, the guy who started Honda.
If you want to look at someone who has had 99% failure, look at Honda because his actual
quote is 99% of success is failure.
And if you look at when he started Honda, it was the craziest stores you could possibly think of. His goal was to be able to make these engines. And I
think they were originally made for bikes is what he was originally making them for, motorcycles.
And what happened was this. He had so many failures come up along the way. So many problems
came up along the way. It was during the war and part of his place got bombed and walls were falling down and he couldn't
make concrete walls because concrete was needed during the war by the Japanese government to build
places, all of those things. So what he did, he found another way to make concrete and had his
workers make concrete to build the wall
so that they could therefore then go and actually build the engines. Now, most people would see the
wall get knocked down and go, oh, that's it. It's over. There's nothing else. Well, I need a plan B
now. His was like, no, we're making engines. This is what we're going to do. And now you look at how
huge of a company Honda is. It's crazy. So you have to have your plan A and only your plan A.
And it's exactly the same thing that I heard Will Smith say, where he says he's so focused
on something and he knows he has to go for it. He knows he has to win at it. And he's just that
focused on anything that he does. And that's why he's such a successful musician. He's such a
successful actor. Everything he does, the guy's super successful because he doesn't have a plan B whenever he
goes directly into something. And he says, if you and him were to get on a treadmill,
even if you're an experienced runner, you're the best runner in the world. If you get on a treadmill,
one of two things is going to happen. Either he's going to be the first one,
or excuse me, he's going to be the last one to get off and you're going to get off before him or he's going to die on that treadmill and it's really
that simple that is the only thing that he's focused on is making sure that he conquers whatever
his current vision is and that current vision would be the actual person to win on the treadmill so
let me ask you this how many times have you gone into something and said,
oh, I'm really excited about this, but just in case this doesn't work, I want to make sure I have a plan B. Here's what I would recommend. Don't have a plan B because if you don't have
a plan B, well, then you will figure out no matter how many failures you have, how to actually
succeed at plan A. Because like Honda said, the guy who started Honda,
success is 99% failure. He knew if he failed enough times, he would eventually succeed.
There was nothing that was going to stop him from succeeding. So when you have a plan B,
it distracts from that plan A. If you only have plan A, no matter what it is, if you want to be
a successful musician, successful business person, entrepreneur, successful employee, successful painter, whatever it is, if that is your passion,
if that is the one thing that you want to do, make it your mission that that is the only thing
that you do and that you will either do that or you will die trying. And I guarantee you,
if you go and go and go and go, and no matter how many times you fail, you just keep going,
go and go and go. And no matter how many times you fail, you just keep going. You will eventually succeed. And that's why you always want to make sure that you have only plan A. And no matter
what it is, if you make your decision and that is what you want to do, burn the ships and only go
for plan A. So with that, I will leave you the same way that I leave you every single day.
