Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor Podcast. I am your host, Rob Dial.
And if you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you never miss another
podcast episode. Today, we're going to be talking about your mind. Go figure. It seems
like a great time to talk about your mind, what's going on in your mind and to pay really, really close attention to what's going in your mind. And I want to talk
about, you know, the fear that's out there, the fear that you can pay attention to, the fear that
we can all get caught up in if we really actually were to let ourselves and the courage that it
takes to look past all of that fear. And, um,
and to just make it easier for you, I'm going to give you a visual and it's one of my favorite
visuals when you're thinking about your mind. And so I want you to think this, and if you're
sitting at your house, you know, close your eyes, go through a little quick, um, quick
visualization with me. If you're driving, please don't obviously close your eyes. That
wouldn't be a good idea, but let's go ahead and do this real quick. If you close your eyes,
I want you to imagine that you're standing in front of a garden and it's this, you know, it's,
there's nothing in it yet. Brand new garden. There's nothing in it. It's completely bare.
And you know, the, the, the land is just ready to have seeds planted into it. And so what do you do?
You go in and you're
like, you know what? I love strawberries. I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to put strawberries
inside of this. And you put strawberries all over the place. You put strawberries.
And then the next day you come back and you water it. The next day you come back, you water it. The
next day you come back, you water it. And you notice that there's starting to be these little,
these little green things that are starting to pop up. You're like, oh my gosh, my strawberries
are coming in. My strawberries are coming in.
You get all excited about it.
You wait till they continue to grow and they continue to grow.
And you start seeing these little red things pop off on the side.
You're like, oh my gosh, my strawberries are coming in.
And then after about a week, you're like, what the hell is wrong with my strawberries?
They don't look like strawberries.
And what you realize is that you grew tomatoes.
Now, let me ask you, is this scenario ever even possible?
If you take strawberry seeds and plant strawberries into the ground, is it ever possible for you to then go and water those strawberry seeds and water them and take care of them and
give them exactly what they need, the sun and the water. And then for tomatoes to grow, that's impossible, right? So why do you think that you
can get caught up in the fear and watch the news every single day and hang out with people who are
negative and who are constantly afraid and that you think that your life is going to just be positive.
Just in the same way that you can't plant strawberry seeds and get tomatoes, you can't
think negatively all day long. You can't put negativity into your mind. You can't hang out
with negative people and fearful people and people that look at all of the bad sides of
everything and just expect that you're going to be positive every single day. You can't expect
that you're going to be happy every single day. In fact, I would bet that if you're constantly
hanging out with negative people, you're listening to the news, you're surrounding
yourself with negativity, that it's going to be really damn hard for you to be positive.
And so I wanted to take you to that visualization for you to be like, wait, why would everyone's out there going? Why
would, why would strawberries, why would, why would tomatoes grow in strawberries? That doesn't
make any sense. But then we don't think about that the exact same way with our own mind.
Your mind is like a garden and you are the only person that can tend to this garden. There is nobody else that
can tend this garden. Whatever you plant into the soil, you will get, you will get whatever you
planted to the soil. And if you walk away from your garden for a while and you don't pay attention to
it, what's going to happen? You're going to have a lot of weeds grow. And what a lot of people tend
to realize when they start getting into mindset, when they start getting into personal growth, they start to realize, oh my God, my mind is full of
weeds. My garden is full of weeds because I haven't been paying attention to it. But you're
the only person that can tend to this garden, the only person in the world. So you have to take care
of it. You have to pay attention to every single seed that goes into the ground to make sure
that that seed, when it grows into an actual full grown plant, that it's the plant that
you want.
You have to realize that.
Are you watering the strawberries, trying to turn them into strawberry, you know, actually
get an entire plant of strawberries?
Or are you watering the weeds?
What are you doing? How are you spending your days? Think about it this way. Are you living
your life in fear or are you living your life in courage? Those are really the only two places that
you can be at this point in time. There's fear and then there's courage. And with courage, I like to, I like to say there's love. You can act out of fear or you can act out of love and courage.
And right now, the world needs more courageous people. You can, for instance, let me give you
an example of what I mean. Are you focusing on, you know, how you don't want to die right now?
Are you focusing on how you don't want to be unhealthy? That you don't want to die right now? Are you focusing on how you don't want to be unhealthy,
that you don't want to have something bad happen to you? Or are you focusing on taking care of
your health every single day? Are you being proactive? Are you being reactive right now?
Are you focusing? If you've lost your job
are you focusing on the fact that you lost that job and you're pissed off about the fact that you lost that job and
You wish that you still had that job and you're scared about money
You're scared about how you're gonna pay the bills or are you focused on getting a job?
Which one are you focusing on are you focusing on?
Hopefully oh my god. I really want to keep my family inside. I don't want them to get sick. And once again, be smart, obviously stay inside,
but are you focusing on, you know, I don't want my family to get sick. I don't want my family
to get sick. I don't want my family to get sick or are you focusing on my family's going to be
healthier than ever. We're going to eat better. We're going to not have any junk. We're not going
to have any more sugar. We're not going to eat any meat. We're going to eat better. We're going to not have any junk. We're not going to have any more sugar. We're not going to eat any meat. We're going to work out. Whatever it is that you're
going to do. Are you focusing on what you don't want or are you focusing on what you want?
It's kind of like the episode I said the other day, where if you put both of your hands out
and on the left side is everything that you've ever wanted with hopes, dreams, desires,
and on the right side is everything that you're afraid of. If you're constantly staring at the
right hand and your head is looking to the right,
you can't even see the left.
Same thing.
Are you watering the fear?
Because if you water the fear, guess what's going to continue to grow?
The fear, the scared, the, I hope I don't die.
I hope my family stays safe.
Maybe we should just, you know, coil up and just wait it all out and see what happens.
Maybe I should just, you know, go back to that job that I hate, right? That's fear. That's thinking in fear. Or you can
think in courage. I'm going to take care of my health. It's going to be a priority for me. I'm
going to take care of my family's health. We're going to be healthier than ever. It's a priority
for me. I'm going to focus on getting a job. I'm going to focus on building my own business. Now
I'm going to focus on building a coaching business. What is it that you need to focus on? Because your mind is like a garden,
but once again, you're the only person that could be in charge of this garden.
So pay very close attention to every single bit of input that goes into you.
Obviously we all realize that the coronavirus is not as good
as we want it to be. It's not where we want to be. Life isn't what we want it to be.
Sure, we wish that things were different, but things are what they are. So why don't we accept
and then move forward from that acceptance? You don't need to watch the news and find out how
much worse or better it's gotten. That doesn't actually really matter at this point, right?
Because you know where we currently stand, and I'm sure somebody's probably going to tell you how it's getting anyways. You know where we currently stand, so why don't you
not focus on that at all from now on and focus on getting healthier. Focus on building that business.
Focus on more stability for your family. Focus on the life that you want, not the things that you don't want.
That's the key that most people usually don't find out until later on in life, or they don't
find out ever, is that whatever you water, you will get.
But you have to be very, very careful as to every single thing that comes into your garden,
and you need to pull it as soon as the weeds pop up, the news, the negative people,
the people that are talking down to you, the gossip that goes around about different things.
All of the time, you just have to literally pull the weeds as they go. And then you need to pay
attention to every single bit of information that goes into that garden. Every single bit
of information that goes into your mind, every single bit of information will show you what type of garden that you're going to have so you need to you know pay
attention to what you're listening to what you're watching what books you're reading if you're
meditating if you're listening to podcasts if you listen to audio books what are you doing what are
you filling your mind with what beautiful things are you putting into this garden because here's
the thing the beautiful thing about life is you're in complete control of what goes into your mind. But if you let it go for
too long, you're going to find out that that garden is completely full of weeds. So for the next two
weeks, could you be laser-like focused on making sure that you take care of your garden better
than you ever have? The next two weeks, because the fear and the, we're going to hit a peak of fear and it's going
to get louder and louder and louder and louder. We need to mentally be stronger, stronger,
stronger, stronger, and make sure that you're prepared for it. Make sure that you don't drop
into fear. Make sure that you live in courage and live in love. Every single decision is either
based out of fear or based out of love.
You need to make the decision that you're going to base yours out of love and you're going to
step forward into possibly a new life for you and possibly a new life for everybody else and step
