Starting point is 00:00:46 fluff here, just life-changing content. My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now. Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, please subscribe to us, however you listen to us. Also, like us on Facebook, facebook.com slash MWF motivation. And speaking of Facebook, just so you know, I have exciting news for you. Today's episode is going to be called Do What You Do Not Want To Do. That's what we're going to be going over today is how to do that. And because of the fact that the episodes are kind of short, most of my episodes are around 10 minutes long, maybe 15 minutes long, I'm going to actually have a Facebook Live tonight. So if you're listening to this on the day that it goes live on Monday, you are actually invited to come
Starting point is 00:01:38 to the Facebook Live and actually learn more in-depth lessons than just this. So I'm going to talk tonight about how to go in and do what you don't want to do and how to really set yourself up for mental training. And that's going to be tonight. And I would love to see you join us in there. It's completely free. All you have to do is like us on Facebook, facebook.com slash MWF motivation. And you'll get some more information on whenever I do go live. It will be at 9 p. 9pm Eastern today, Monday. We're going to talk about how to do what you don't
Starting point is 00:02:11 want to do. We're going to go much more in depth on that. And also, if you are interested in group coaching and you have not sent me an email yet, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. If you are interested in group coaching or one-on-one coaching to take yourself to the next level. If you are sick and tired of where you are and you just feel like you're spinning your wheels and not going anywhere, send me an email. Let's talk a little bit more about it, rob at mwfmotivation.com. But don't take my word for it. Listen to someone who's already part of the group here. My name is Amy, and I'd like to give two thumbs up for Rob Dial's group coaching. I have learned to step out of my comfort zone and gain clarity on what's really important
Starting point is 00:02:51 in my life. I highly recommend investing in yourself. You will learn so much. I know I have. All right, welcome back. Once again, we are going to be talking about how to do what you do not want to do. And this might seem interesting of why would I want to do something that I don't want to do? What do I mean by this? Well, lately, the past few months, just so you guys know, I am the type of person that eats my own dog food. I don't ever tell you to do something unless I'm currently doing it myself or it's worked for me in the past or whatever it might be.
Starting point is 00:03:21 I'm kind of my own guinea pig. And what I've been doing lately, the past few months, is making myself do things that I really do not want to do. And why would I do that? The main reason is because I see everything as mental training. Everything is mental training. People get a gym membership for their bodies, but they never think about a gym membership for their mind. That's kind of what I have my group coaching for is a gym membership for your mind whenever people join it. But I like to treat every single minute of my day as mental training. The most important thing is to make sure that my mind is right and that my mental training and that I'm growing every single day. Because most people think, well, what about everybody else that's around me? If you become better, everybody else around you becomes better as well. Your children's life,
Starting point is 00:04:08 your spouse's wife, the person that you're in a relationship with, all of their lives work better if you focus on yourself as well. Whenever you get into an accident, when you're on a plane, they always say put the oxygen on yourself first. That's the way it should work. So I treat every minute of my day as mental training. And I'm constantly, constantly, constantly trying to push my mental boundaries in what I want to do and what I am doing and what I'm actually comfortable doing. So I constantly try to push myself in what I'm doing and what I'm comfortable doing. I'll give you a perfect example. By the time you're listening to this, I will have already been doing this, which is the best part about it. I take ice baths every
Starting point is 00:04:49 once in a while. And the reason why is because it's really great for your muscles. They're torturous. They suck. They're so bad. They're seriously one of the worst things ever to get into a 50 degree pool. It's also really good for your body though. Tony Robbins recommends every single person does it in the morning because it's really good to flush out all the toxins in your body, get your blood rushing. It's better than coffee. It wakes you up really quickly. Well, what I want to start doing was start doing ice baths in the morning. And I was like, well, I don't want to wake up, turn on my bathtub, have to go get ice, put tons and tons of ice into it. And so I thought, well, the winter's coming up. Why don't I just go buy a kiddie pool
Starting point is 00:05:23 off of Amazon and then fill it up with water, keep a tarp over it. And it's getting really cold in Austin. And so when it's 40, 50, 30 degrees outside, I'll wake up every single morning and I'll jump straight into that pool. And when I first started explaining this to people, people thought that I was insane of why would I have a cold pool? Why would I force myself to jump into a pool? Most people have said the exact same thing. Hell no, I would never do that. I do not want to do that. I don't know why you would do that. But the reason why is because I see it as mental training. If I can wake myself up to pick myself out of bed, if I can get out of my warm bed where it's
Starting point is 00:06:02 comfortable and it's a nice king size bed and I can wake up at 6 a.m. and I can force myself to get out of my warm bed and walk downstairs into the cold outside and jump into a 50-degree pool and go completely under it and stay under it for a couple minutes, if I can force myself to do something that I absolutely hate doing first thing in the morning, as soon as I wake up, guess how easy the rest of my day is. You have to think about it that way. It's like if you start lifting really heavy weight and then you go back to really lightweight, that lightweight is nothing. And that's the exact same way your brain works. If I can force myself to do something that I hate first thing in the morning, if I can get out of a warm
Starting point is 00:06:45 bed, go all the way downstairs, go outside in the cold, and I can hop into a freezing cold, 50 degree pool water and go completely under it from head to toe, then I can really, if I could do something that I hate doing, then the rest of the day is easy because I can do things that I should do if I woke up and the very first thing I did was something that I absolutely hate doing. Think about that. That's mental training. There was earlier today, I'll give you another example, something that I hate doing. I hate doing dishes. I hate doing laundry. I hate doing all of those things. I knew I had a bunch of stuff I had to get done and I was about to do some dishes. My girlfriend made banana bread today and I was about to, you know, I girlfriend made banana bread today. And I was about to,
Starting point is 00:07:26 you know, I saw that there was the dirty bowl that was right there where everything was mixed up. And I thought, oh, I'll just clean it later. And then immediately in my head, I went, nope, don't put it off. Do it right now. And I thought about that where it's just like, force yourself to do something that you don't want to do. So I didn't want to do it at that point. And I could have pushed it off and it wouldn't have been a big deal. Nobody would have noticed. It was just between me and myself. This little conversation was going on and I was like, no, you don't want to do it. So do it right now. And it's just something that easy where I just forced myself. There's times where I'm walking
Starting point is 00:07:54 by something that's on the floor that I might drop and I'm like, oh, I'll get on my way back when I'm going back upstairs. And I'm like, no, do it now. You don't want to do it now. You're trying to put it off. Don't allow yourself to procrastinate on it. Don't allow yourself to not do it. Do it right now because you don't want to. And that's what I'm trying to force myself to do. If I can do things, these things that I don't want to do, and everybody can do this. You can do this right now.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I figure that if I do things that I don't want to do, then it will be extremely easy to do the things that I should do throughout the day. Not the things that I hate doing, but things I'm like, oh man, I really just don't feel like doing this right now. Or the things that I don't care for doing. It's very easy to make yourself do something or it's very easy to do something, to make yourself do something that you should do when you forced yourself to do something that you absolutely hate doing. This is brain training. This is mental training. This is the gym for your mind all day long. And so the tip that I'll give you is this. When you find something that you don't want to do, when you know there's
Starting point is 00:08:54 something that you don't want to do, force yourself to do it. Don't allow yourself to even procrastinate another 10 seconds. It has to be done right now. And you'll notice this. You'll start to notice your patterns and habits and it's going to happen today and you're going to hate me for it. I'm telling you right now. You're going to walk by and something's going to happen. You're going to be done right now. And you'll notice this. You'll start to notice your patterns and habits and it's going to happen today and you're going to hate me for it. I'm telling you right now. You're going to walk by and something's going to happen. You're going to be like, I'll just put it off. And then you're going to go, oh man, remember that time earlier today when I was listening to the episode, Rob told me to do something I don't want to do. That freaking guy. Now I have to do this. And you just start doing, they start pushing yourself to do things you don't want to do. Here's the deal. Successful people do things that other people will not do. If you can force
Starting point is 00:09:30 yourself to start doing things that you don't want to do, you can start taking the first steps to being successful or going the direction that you want to. If you can force yourself, if I can force myself to get out of my warm bed at six o'clock in the morning, walk downstairs and hop into a freezing cold freaking pool and stay there for a few minutes when it literally feels like I'm freezing, you can start doing this stuff as well. So what I'll tell you this, what I'll leave you with is this. Do one thing each day, preferably in the morning, because if you can get it done first in the morning, then it's easier for you to start doing things later on in the day. But do something that you don't want to do every single day. And I'm going to talk more in depth on this topic tonight. Like I said, if you heard earlier, I'm going to have a Facebook
Starting point is 00:10:09 live tonight, which is at 9 p.m. Eastern. I'm going to dive deeper into this topic. And the best part about it is if you have any questions on Facebook live, you can ask me questions live right there in person and I'll be able to answer your questions. We'll be able to go through it. But this is something that I'm gonna start doing more often. I'm gonna have a Facebook Live, but you have to like us on Facebook, facebook.com slash MWF motivation. And when I go live tonight at 9 p.m.,
Starting point is 00:10:33 if you're listening to us on the day this comes out, which is Monday, then you will be able to join in and listen to me dive deeper into this topic and teach you some more in-depth stuff. And then in the next episode, I'm gonna talk to you guys about how to eat the frog. We're going to talk about eating frogs. If that makes no sense to you, you're going to want to tune in on Wednesday and find out what eating a
Starting point is 00:10:51 frog is. I'm going to talk to you guys about this. We're going to go through some mental training. We're going to the gym membership for your mind. I'm the personal trainer. I hope you guys are ready to dive in. So I'm going to leave you the same way I leave you every single episode. Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better.
