Welcome to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast, one of the top motivational podcasts in the
world.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we come out with a short, to the point, no BS episode
to help make massive changes in your mind and transform you from who you are now to
who you want to be.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, please subscribe to us,
however you listen to us. Today, what I'm going to go over is talking about why planning
sometimes is not what you need to do. Sometimes you don't need to plan. Sometimes you need to do
less planning and you need to do more executing. If you heard that where I say, if you spend too
much time training or studying and not enough time executing, you will go nowhere. And the
phrase that I'm going to give you that I want you to remember, if you have a pen and paper,
write it down. If you're driving in your car, please don't write it down. Write it down some other time. And that is,
here's the phrase, ready, fire, aim. And that means do your quick planning, studying, whatever
needs to be done. And then just fire, execute, make your decision, go. And then once you're going
and once you're moving and everything's going, then you can start to make adjustments. Then you can start to do your aim.
And it's like a gun. People would say, aren't you supposed to ready aim fire?
And I think about it this way. If somebody's breaking into my house and I have my gun that's
next to my bed, someone breaks into my house and they're about to come after me,
I've naturally, I'm probably going to just pull the gun up and just start shooting all over the
place, right? Like that's probably what's going to happen. And then I'll start to aim after I get a
couple of shots in because I just want to try to get that person away. But that's the thing.
You need to do the same thing with your business. You need to do the same thing with making changes
in your life. You need to just execute and then make adjustments from there. Because most people
out there, and I've been this person, Spl person, spend most of your time planning. And planning is just a way for you to feel like you're doing
something when you're really not doing anything sometimes. Planning is great, sure. If you fail
to plan, you plan to fail. But there's over planning. And we all have to realize that you
get to the law of
diminishing returns where you're planning too much and you just need to be executing.
So what I want to tell you for this episode is that you need to do less planning most of the
time. Take the amount of planning that you normally do and cut it in half. And some of
you are like, no, no, no, but I'm a planner. I'm a planner. And here's the deal. I get to see this
all the time in the podcasting world. I know tons of people who are supposed to launch their podcast last year and still have not launched their podcast
because they're planning and trying to make it perfect. And in trying to make it perfect,
they're actually making it even worse because they're thinking about it too much.
And then they're making their content worse because the fact they're thinking about it too
much. And then they're not genuine anymore. And that's the way that you have to think about it. You have to realize that sometimes you just
need to get up and move and then you need to make some adjustments once you've been doing it.
So if you're the planner or the over planner, I want you to take a step back today and go,
am I spending too much time planning and not enough time executing? Because sometimes,
planning, and not enough time executing. Because sometimes, most of the time,
you need to do very little planning. At least some planning, of course, is always good,
which is the ready part. So you ready, fire, which is execute, and then aim after you fire.
You go, you make mistakes, and then you make adjustments. Because most people,
let me tell you what it is. Most people want to over plan because they don't want to go out and fail.
They don't want to go out and fail. They don't want to go out and make mistakes. So they're trying to get away from their fear of failure by over planning. Let me say that again. You might be
trying, I don't even remember what I just said. It was off the top of my head.
You might be
over planning and not executing because of your fear of failure. That's usually what it is. It's
not that you just need everything to be perfect. It's that you might be afraid of going out there
and actually failing. But you need to fire, which means you need to go execute. You need to fail a
couple times and make adjustments so that you can go down the right road. So that's what I have for you today. Ready, fire, aim. Stop doing all of the aiming. Stop doing all
of the planning and start putting the work in. Start executing and stop letting failure hold
you back in your fear of failure. You're masking as planning. And with that, I'm going to leave
you guys the same way I leave you every single episode.
Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better.
I appreciate you and I hope that you go out there and you have an absolutely amazing day.
