Starting point is 00:01:19 on track, send me an email rob at mwfmotivation.com, and we will be able to send you the information and see if it is right for you. So once again, if you're interested in joining in on Mindset University, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. Okay. So today what we're going to be talking about has a little bit to do with that. What we're going to be talking about is something that I realized that I do, which to most people would probably seem odd. It's just something that I've been doing for about 10 years where it's the way I speak to myself.
Starting point is 00:01:53 And we're going to talk about, you know, going to talk about just how you talk to yourself. The most important conversation that you have is the one that you have with yourself, the one that's between your ears. And I used to beat myself up a ton all the time because I'm super competitive. I'm just a very competitive person. So I would talk down to myself, be like, man, you're so stupid. Why do you do those things? Why did you screw that up? You could have done better, blah, blah, blah. And it was just constantly like just barrage of just like insults all the time to myself. It was crazy how bad it
Starting point is 00:02:25 was. And I know that most people are that way. Most people are completely talking down to themselves all the time. And the question that I have for you is if you're one of the people who does that, if you think about that, if you do that, would you speak to somebody that you love the way that you speak to yourself? Would you speak to your mom or your girlfriend or boyfriend or whoever it might be the way that you speak to yourself in your own head? And if the answer is no, then you need to stop speaking to yourself the way that you speak to yourself. So you have to start using empowering words.
Starting point is 00:02:59 You have to learn what is empowering. So the best way to think about it is this. What are you most afraid of? What are your biggest fears? Think about it. What are your biggest fears? Is it that you're not smart enough? Let's just use it. It's not smart enough, right? Let's just say that that's what it is. Well, then you have to use words and repeat them. This is how you get it into your subconscious is repetition over and over and over again. You can't just say, you know, if your fear that your paradigm is that you're not smart enough, well, then you can't just say, I'm smart, I'm smart,
Starting point is 00:03:31 I'm smart, right? Like just a couple times, it's got to be said over and over and over again. And it's got to be empowering. So you can think of a list. I would make a list if I were you of like three to five extremely empowering things to say to yourself all the time. And this is something that I do while I'm driving. This is something when I was in the airport yesterday, I was walking with every single step. I was using empowering words and there was no reason for me. I didn't need to build myself up in any sort of way. I wasn't, I did this before I gave my talk the night before where I was pacing the back of the room and I was using empowering words and I was saying the same thing over and over and over again, just empowering words where I'm going to give the
Starting point is 00:04:08 most amazing speech. I'm going to give the most amazing speech. I'm going to give the most amazing speech hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times for about 20 minutes. I was pacing the room with every step. I repeated myself every step. I repeated myself over and over and over again. And usually, you know, if I'm at home or I'm by myself, any of those things, I'll talk out loud to myself with what they call incantations. I've spoken about incantations before, but those are empowering words that you use your body and your physiology and your voice, and you can actually yell them out to yourself. You yell them because your subconscious will kick in and store it quicker.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And so I'll yell stuff like I'm going to give the most amazing speech, blah, blah, blah, whatever it is. But if I'm in a public place, I don't want to seem like I'm a crazy person, obviously. So I'll speak to myself in my head. And with every single step that I take, I make sure that I'm using empowering words. I'm going to give the most amazing speech. I'm going to, I'm about to give the most amazing speech, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, all the time. And I'll do it for 20 minutes straight. And if you think about it, 20 minutes, I probably said it a thousand times. And so do you think that I'm nervous by the time I go on stage at that point in time? No, because I've already told myself over and over and over again, the subconscious
Starting point is 00:05:13 has already stored it as, hey, you're about to go up there and kill it. And so what you have to do is you have to figure out what's your biggest fear. Is it that you're not smart enough or that you're not good enough or whatever it is. And you have to make a list of empowering things that you say to yourself that are the opposite of what your fear is. If your fear is that you're not smart enough, you need to tell yourself how smart you are and remember a time when you were really smart. If your fear is that you're not good enough, you need to tell yourself over and over again exactly how smart you are, exactly how good you are at these types of things. And just say it over and over and over and over again. And how smart you are, exactly how good you are at these types of things.
Starting point is 00:05:45 And just say it over and over and over and over again. And what you'll realize is if you say it a couple hundred times, a couple thousand times, you'll start to believe in yourself and you'll start to carry yourself a different way. And your actions will start to be exactly the way they should be to line up with the way that you're talking to yourself. These are incantations. These are empowering words with every single step that you take. Because what happens is your subconscious does not know. Your conscious mind can only hold one thought at a time. My conscious mind right now is just, that's all I can do. So right now it's just thinking of what I'm going to say to you. And then those words are coming out. That's all that's happening. It's a tenth, a millisecond, the smallest little bit. It's just
Starting point is 00:06:28 firing away as it's happening. It's not thinking about what I have to do later on today. Now, my subconscious mind is like your mind's filing cabinet. It doesn't know what is true or what is false. It just takes what's in your subconscious mind, all of the things that you sense, all of your five senses, and it stores it. But here's the thing. The reason why self-talk and empowering words are so important is because if you're telling yourself you're stupid, you're stupid, you're stupid, all of those things all over the time, if you just keep saying it over and over again, it's going to store all of the negative things that you say in your head. So you're actually, by using words and by talking down to yourself, you're actually,
Starting point is 00:07:06 in a sense, just knocking yourself in the feet and kicking the legs out of your success because your subconscious mind is going to think that you're stupid and then it's going to act in stupid ways without you realizing it. Now, if you use empowering thoughts, your subconscious mind is not going to know, once again, what is true, what is false. So if you use empowering things about giving a great speech, well, then you're going to get up and you're going to be more confident and you're going to give a better speech. That's just the way that it goes. So it stores what you say. So the way you talk to yourself is one of the most important things that you'll learn. You've got to learn to talk to yourself the way that you talk to someone that you love. You've got to learn to talk to yourself the way that you talk to someone that you love. You've got to learn to be empowering and think empowering thoughts over and over and over again.
Starting point is 00:07:48 And this takes time. It takes a lot of time because sometimes you'll notice you'll get a negative thought that's going to pop into your head and you can't control your first thought, but you can always control your second one. So if your first thought is you mess something up and your first thought is, man, you're so stupid, immediately change it. You can change your second thought. And if you think, man, I'm so stupid once, then you need to talk about how
Starting point is 00:08:08 smart you are over and over and over and over and over again, the exact same words a hundred times. Just completely destroy what you had said before there. So that's why talking to yourself is so important and using empowering words is so important. So don't do it out loud when you're in public because people are going to think that you're crazy. But when you're alone, talk out loud to yourself. Do it. Look yourself in the mirror. Get yourself fired up.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Listen to empowering music. When you're out in public, say it with every single step in your head, every single step, how empowering you are. Whatever it is, how powerful you are, how amazing you are, how smart you are, how great you are, how much you deserve love, how much you deserve success, how much you don't think that you're afraid of failure. All of those things. Use empowering words to build yourself up in your head
Starting point is 00:08:53 versus just putting headphones in and listening to music. So that's what I want to say to you. If you like this episode, please share it with somebody.
