Welcome to the MWF Motivation Podcast. My name, if you've ever heard one of our episodes, you probably know,
is Rob Dial. And I am so excited for this episode. But before I bring it to you,

And today, guys, what we're going to talk about is living up to our potential.
So I don't know if you're like me, but I look around and I see a lot of unused potential
in people.
And myself included, I'm trying to work every single day to feel like I get the most out of every day and to live up to my potential.
But I feel like I look around a lot and there's a lot of unused potential.
There's a lot of people that just go through the motions.
We all go through the motions sometimes.
Most people, it seems like, you know, they're just trying to get by.
You know, who wants to just get by?
That's the question that I have.
Who wants to just get, why do they just want to get by? You know, who wants to just get by? That's the question that I have. Who wants to just get,
why do they just want to get by? You know, you ever ask somebody, how are you doing? And they
go, oh yeah, I'm getting by. Like, I hate that. That answer drives me crazy because you get one
shot at being alive. One freaking shot. Like, why would you not try to get every single,
you know, every single ounce of energy out every single day
to live up to your potential? Who wants to just get by? Why would you just want to go through the
motions? You know, is it a decision to not do anything with someone's life or is it just,
you know, a lack thereof? You know, if you're listening to this, you know, you're probably the
type of person who isn't wanting to live a mediocre, you don't want to live a mediocre life.
You want to make something from yourself.
That's why you're listening.
And that's why I make this podcast is to try to push myself to become more as well.
And you could probably agree with me that most people, it seems like they just live
mediocre lives.
You know, we get comfortable and we just sit
in these holes and stay there forever. It's like Benjamin Franklin says,
most people die by 25, but they aren't buried until 75 because they get comfortable. They
stay in that comfort zone and they don't push themselves anymore. They don't want to succeed.
They don't, everybody wants to succeed, but some people just don't want to try to succeed
because it makes you have to get out of your comfort zone. You know, everybody wants to succeed, but some people just don't want to try to succeed because it makes you
have to get out of your comfort zone. Everybody wants to accomplish more. Everybody wants to
become more. But some people, they just know that there's going to be failure along the way
and that it's not going to be easy and that they're going to have to change, become very
uncomfortable at some point, and they don't go for it. So they just stay in their mediocre lives that they have.
You know, people don't like change. Nobody likes change. The reason why is because our brain is made to get used to doing things one way. Our brain is made to go on autopilot. You know,
have you ever driven home one day, you know, from someplace, you know, say you're driving home from
work and then you get home and you're like, wait, what the heck just happened? Like, how did I get here? I don't even really
remember driving home. The reason why is because you're on autopilot. Your brain wants to go on
autopilot for things that you do often because it conserves energy. You know, your brain, even
though it only weighs like eight pounds, it's a tiny percentage of exactly your entire human weight, but it takes
up like 30% of the energy throughout the entire day. So it tries to go onto autopilot. If we want
to be successful, if we want to live up to our potential, we have to try to get ourselves out
of change. We have to drive home different ways sometimes just to mix it up and make ourselves
uncomfortable in
certain ways. We have to learn to embrace the uncomfortableness. I don't know if uncomfortableness
is a word, but if it is not, I just made it up. So I'll give you a perfect example of uncomfortableness.
You know, go ahead and do this for me. Just try it out. Fold your arms. Fold your arms like you
normally fold your arms. Just do it. I have a specific way I'm folding my arms right now. Now here's what I want you to do. Fold your arms the other way. So I just did
it. It feels really weird because I've done it the same way my whole life. It feels weird to fold my
arms a different way. The reason why is because our brain makes us do things the same way every
single time so that we don't have to think as much
and use as much energy. Does that make sense? So, you know, if we can think of little changes that
we can make to get out of the little habits that we have, like sleeping in later, the things that
we do, if we can break these habits that we've gotten into, the same things that we do every day,
if we can break them and try to add in little things to become great, we can live up to
our full potential.
So let me tell you what I'm talking about.
Could you imagine, just before I go into it, could you imagine a world where every single
person, all 7 billion people on this planet live to their 100% full potential?
Could you imagine what this world would be like? Could you imagine
the stuff that humans could make and come up with and accomplish? We have crazy technology and crazy
stuff that we accomplish anyways, but that's a very small percentage that are people that are
really working towards their full potential. Could you imagine if every single person lived to their full potential, the stuff that we would accomplish would be flipping insane. And I know that it would
be, you know, if every person tried to get 100% of their day, you know, 100% out of each day versus
coming home and watching TV and then just hanging out and doing nothing, you know, working their nine to five, and then just doing that, you know, what could we do? If we really what could we accomplish
if we really put 100% of our lives into 100% of every single day? You know, we're trying to find
it's crazy to me that I hear these things of we're trying to find ways to, to make Mars
inhabitable to live on Mars, because we feel like we've screwed up Earth so
much. Sure, we may have screwed it up. There may be global warming. There may be all this stuff.
But could you imagine if every single person lived to 100% of their full potential? I'm pretty sure
that we could figure out a way to make it better here on Earth or to reverse whatever we have done here and screwed up. We're trying
to figure out a way, and we have figured out a way to get something to land on Mars. So we figured
out a way to take a piece of metal, send it to a rock that's 140 million miles away and land on
this rock that's spinning around this giant star. It's crazy that we're able to do
something like that. And that's just because a few people work to their full potential. Could
you imagine if every single person worked to their full potential? So I want you to ask yourself,
what can we do to start getting better, to start working together, to start? I mean,
could you imagine what we could accomplish? It would be crazy. Because here's the thing,
and I understand it. I've done this before. Most people,
this is what their day looks like. They wake up right when they need to so that they're in a rush.
They eat their cereal. They get dressed. They drink coffee. They drive to work. They do stuff
that they absolutely hate for someone that they hate with other people that they hate.
And they drive home in traffic. They sit in traffic. They
get home. They eat a Hot Pocket. They watch TV, Dancing with the Stars. They take a dump and they
go to bed. And then they wake up and do it all over again. And they just say... And one thing
that I hate is when people say, I can't wait for the weekend. The weekends, it drives me crazy.
It's just arbitrary days. There's really no such thing as days of the week.
It's just something humans made up.
So why not live every single day the way that we should,
which is to our full potential?
When people say they're waiting for the weekend,
that means that they're wasting five out of seven days
of their life waiting for two days.
And what do they do on those two days?
Probably a whole lot of nothing,
which means not living up to their full potential.
So have you ever, let me ask you this question. Have you ever had somebody that you know, or someone that you're close to die? And then, you know, you completely rethink your
life at that point. And you're like, man, I can't believe that person just lost their life at such
a young age or something like that. When something tragic like that happens, we tend to rethink life and
rethink what we're doing. And we're like, man, I'm so lucky to be here. Why am I still here?
And we have this, you know, thoughts going through our head of maybe I should do more.
Maybe I should become more. You know, maybe I should start trying to live every single day
to its fullest. You know, there's a lot of times when people will die and people will start
thinking, I need to live every day to its fullest because I'm lucky that I'm still here
because that person's not. You know, and then what happens? We forget about how short life is
and then we get back into the comfortable crap that we do every single day. We don't try to get
out of our comfort zones. Guys, life is too short. It's too fragile to just not be 100% our best selves every single day.
So I want you to ask yourself this as I'm wrapping up. Ask yourself, am I living up to my full
potential? And be 100% honest with yourself. Am I living up to my full potential? This is something
that I'm working at every single day personally to give you an idea, and ask yourself this as well. What is your full potential? You know, what is your full potential
and what would your life look like if you lived every single day to that full potential?
So what I'm going to leave you with is this. The step that I want to give you, two steps to wrap up.
Number one is to commit to taking small steps
to getting closer to your perfect self every single day. Commit to taking the small steps.
Doesn't have to be big steps. Small steps to getting better every single day. I want you to
picture this. Picture your life as this huge wall, right? This giant wall. And each day,
this huge wall, right? This giant wall. And each day, you only get to lay one brick of that wall,
right? Just one, no more. But for that one brick, you want to focus on laying that brick as perfectly as you possibly can. You know, this one brick has to be laid perfectly. If you lay that
brick perfectly every single day, and that would be considered getting the most out of every
day. By the time that wall is finished, by the time your life is finished, you will have built
one big, beautiful wall. So I want you to ask yourself, or excuse me, I want you to
commit to yourself of taking small steps to become better and the perfect version of yourself every
single day. That's the first thing. And the second thing that I'm going to leave you with, as always,
make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. I really appreciate your time.
