If you have not yet subscribed to us, please do so on iTunes, Stitcher, SoundCloud. And if you happen to love this episode and you know somebody else in this world might get something out of it,
please share it with them. We're trying to change the world one person at a time. And today, what we're going to be talking about is people who give you energy
and people who take away energy. And what we're going to talk about is how you need to make sure
that you pick your top five, the top people that you spend the most time with, because as we know,
you are the average of the five people that you spend the most time with because as we know, you are the average of the five people that you spend the most time
with. So I am going to talk about people in two different types of ways and we'll put them in two
different categories to make this easy. The first one that we're going to talk about, we are going
to talk about vacuums. And this is going to make it easy. It's vacuums or it's chargers. These are
the two different types of people that we're going to come across in the world. The vacuums or it's chargers. These are the two different types of people that we're going to come across in the world.
The vacuums.
These are the people who suck the energy out of you.
I got you there for a second.
These are the people who suck the energy out of you.
You know, the people who, after being around them, they make you so tired.
It's just whenever you're with them, you feel like all of your energy is being pulled from
you. It takes so much mental fortitude just to be around these people and people whose mindset is
just so far gone and in the direction that you can't even really, in the direction that you don't
want to be that you can't even really save them at this point. They literally are just
sucking the energy out of you. And you feel spent after spending time with them. And they constantly
take your time by calling you and complaining and complaining about how life is and sending
you text messages. And you could be having a great day and this person sends you a text message or a
call and they can just completely step on
your day and make this day that was incredible go completely down the crapper. And these are the
people, we call them vacuums because they literally suck the air and suck the energy completely out of
you. And we all know, like I said, that we're the average of the top five people who we spend the
most time with. So if we have somebody who we would think is a vacuum and they're in your top five, it might
be best to give them what I like to say is the gift of goodbye. And the gift of goodbye, what
that means is that it's a gift to you because it makes you completely clear of this vacuum. It gives you more energy
and it fills up your headspace by being with these people. So by getting rid of them,
it clears your headspace and allows you more energy, allows you more focus to focus on what
is most important in this world, which is you, your family, your goals, the people that you love, and the other people
that should be in your top five. So those are the vacuums. Now, we're also going to talk about the
chargers. The chargers are the people that you want to be around. It's like a charger for your
phone, a charger for your computer. What do they do? They provide energy. We all know that there's some people
that you get around these people and they just give you energy. Being around them makes you feel
like a better person. I'll give you an example. You guys have heard Dean DeVries, who is my
co-host. He's on sometimes, but usually he's just working on the back end, helping out with MWF
motivation. He flew in this past week and I was sick. I had been sick
for the entire week. And he flew in at midnight on Friday night, which is actually Saturday morning.
And I was so tired. But by the time he got in, I was just picking him up from the airport. I was
just mentally just ready to go take a nap and go to sleep for the night. And he
came over and we talked and we planned and we talked about business and we talked about where
we're going with our future. We talked about all of these things. And I went from completely tired
to spending an extra two hours with him before he went to bed and then wake up sick the next day,
still sick and had energy throughout the entire day. And the reason why is because we have people,
he's one of those people that I speak to and he expands my mindset. We have people that expand
our mindset, that make us think bigger, who when you're done talking to them, when you have a
really good conversation with them, you have more energy and you have more excitement towards life.
And you're just ready to go out and to really do good things and to do exciting things.
There's people who have those attitudes that are just so infectious and they just believe so much
and they're so excited about life that it makes you excited about life. And there's people who
challenge you and make you think bigger and in turn make you a better person by being around them.
Those are the people who charge you up. That's why we call them the chargers. And maybe
you don't know somebody who is a charger at this point, or maybe you don't know somebody who is in
your top five that is a charger, and you should find somebody who is a charger and put them into
your top five. You need people around you who are going to charge you up and give you extra energy for life. And I understand that it's hard to say goodbye to some
people, but you have to realize if you come at it with the best intentions, it always works out for
the best. If you come at it with the intentions of, hey, listen, you might not need to spend as
much time with these people. You don't have to never see them again. You just have to cut down
your top five to the people who you know
are going to be a charger, who are going to make you a better person, who are going to challenge
you, who are going to support you, who are going to give you more energy towards life.
If you want to grow and become a better person, then it's best for both parties if you say goodbye
to some of the people who are the vacuums, the people who suck the energy out of you,
the people that complain, the people that make your mindset smaller, the
people who are the haters who might say that you can't do something, who you talk about your dreams
and they say you can't do that. Sometimes you just have to say goodbye to those people. And believe
me, it's for the better of yourself in order to say goodbye to them. So when we talk about the
vacuums versus
the chargers, make sure that your top five people are chargers, the people who make you excited
about life. And that would be the thing that I leave you with is who are your top five? Who are
the five people that you spend the most time with? Because you are the average of the five people
that you spend the most time with. So if your top five is not where you want it to be, maybe you should
upgrade it. Maybe you should start going to more networking groups. Maybe you should start reaching
out to people on LinkedIn and ask to take people to coffee and just speak with people and try to
get your network to be better and spend more time. Take them to dinner, invite them over to dinner,
your house, whatever you can do to try to get these people in your network to make you a better
person and to also help them out as well. So that's what I'm going to leave you with. And the
last thing I'm going to leave you with, as always, guys, make it your mission to make somebody else's
day better. I appreciate you listening to this episode. If you know somebody who could get some
value out of listening to this, someone who has a vacuum in their life and needs more chargers,
