And if you love this episode, we're going to be talking about limitations. Please share this episode with a friend if you know someone that could benefit from it. So today, the title of what we're going to be going over today is that
limitations are optional. Limitations are optional. And I want to talk about something
that I've spoken about before in previous episodes, which is something called the four
minute mile. And then I'm going to talk about some other stuff as well. So with a four minute mile, if you're not familiar with what that is, before 1954, people thought that
running a mile in under four minutes was beyond human capabilities. They literally believed that
it was impossible. People thought that it was impossible. The human body could not get under a mile in four minutes. And so everyone believed
this until 1954 when somebody named Roger Bannister ran it in three minutes, 59.4 seconds.
So just under four minutes. And what happened was when Roger Bannister broke under four minutes,
people saw that it was possible.
He showed that it was possible.
And the crazy thing about that was, is before then, since humankind, nobody had ever run
under a four minute mile that was ever recorded.
And people thought that it was impossible.
Once one person did it, once they saw it was possible, they stopped limiting themselves.
possible, they stopped limiting themselves. And within two years, over 300 people, 300 people ran under four minutes in the mile. And the reason why, nothing changed. Bodies didn't change,
nothing changed. But what happened was they had the ability the entire time to run under a four
minute mile. But it was a common belief that it was not possible that held
them back. People thought also that human flight was impossible. They thought it was impossible
until the Wright brothers proved them wrong. And then people thought that putting a man in space
was impossible. We can never do it. And then the Russians put a man in space in 1961.
And then people said, you know what? Putting a man on the moon, that is impossible.
And then eight years later, after we put, you know, the Russians put somebody in space in 1969,
Neil Armstrong proved them wrong. So you're telling me this, if we're talking about limitations we
put on ourself, you're telling me this, that in 1969, when we had way less technology than we do today, we took a man, put him in a rocket ship,
shipped him 238,900 miles away
to land on a rock that was orbiting the earth
at 2,288 miles per hour,
got them to land on it,
then take off from that rock
and land back on earth safely
and you can't accomplish your dreams?
If you think about it that way, it makes you realize the dreams that you have, they might be
big to you, but they're all possible because we're able to do crazy things as humans. All of those
things from the four minute mile to the Wright brothers, to Russia, to Neil Armstrong landing on the moon and coming back,
what do they all have in common? They were all impossible. They were all impossible until they
were actually done. So what's holding you back from following the life that you really want to,
from having the life of your dreams? What are you telling yourself that is not possible? What
are you saying? It's impossible. I can't do that. What are you saying that all is not possible? What are you saying? It's impossible.
I can't do that.
What are you saying that all of the I can'ts, all of the limits that you're placing on yourself
that are completely false, what are they?
What is it?
Is it fear?
Is it the fear of failure?
Is it the fear of success?
Is it the fear of uncertainty?
Is it the fear of making mistakes or disappointing someone around you or disappointing yourself?
And are you making all of these things up in your head?
Are you taking the safe route because it makes it easier?
There's no disappointments in the safe route.
Are your dreams so big that it paralyzes you thinking about them and all of the stuff that
you have to do in order to achieve your goals?
What are you making up?
What limitations are you putting yourself?. What are you making up? What limitations are you putting
yourself? What excuses are you making up? What are you saying that you don't have enough money
or you don't have enough time? Or maybe you think that you're too lazy or that you don't have a car.
See, as humans, we have near unlimited ability, but what happens is we restrict our potential
because of limitations that we put on ourselves and that's it. We make
excuses as to why we can't achieve our dreams, as to why we aren't living our dreams, as to why we
can't reach them. So here's what we have to do in order to achieve our goals, in order to achieve
our dreams. We have to rise above all of the limitations we put on ourselves. We have to break
free of all of the fear that we have, all of the excuses that we make up in our mind,
and we have to tell ourselves that it is possible.
And anytime we tell ourselves that it's impossible,
something is impossible,
we must immediately remind ourselves
as to why it is possible.
Because here's the deal.
More than anything else, it comes down to you, always.
It's always in your head.
All of the limitations out
there in the world are just limitations that you're putting on yourself and they're all made
up in your head. So what it all comes down to is what you believe as a person. The only thing that's
holding you back is yourself. It's not the money. It's not your past. It's not your current situation.
It's not the fact that you don't have a car. You don't have, you know, a circle of influence around you. It is you. You are always the one holding yourself
back. We're always the one that's holding ourself back. It's nobody else. It's no external factors.
It's all internal factors. It's always between your ears. So what do we need to do? We need to
reprogram our minds more than we need anything else. So what I want to leave you with is this. I want to leave
you with a question and I want you to get a pen and paper. If you're driving, please don't get a
pen and paper. Do this later. If you do have a pen and paper around you, get it please. And I want
you to answer this question and write down as many things as you possibly can. And the question is
this, what limitations are you placing on yourself? So what limitations are you placing on yourself?
Write them all down. All of the limitations that you're placing on yourself. What limitations are you placing on yourself? So what limitations are you placing on yourself? Write them all down, all of the limitations that you're placing on yourself. What limitations are you
placing on yourself? And the second part of this question is what can you do to overcome those
limitations? So for each limitation, whatever it is, imagine that I said, what's this limitation?
And you answer what the limitation was. And
somebody had a gun to your head and said, if you had to overcome this situation, this limitation,
how would you do it? And you have to figure it out. So answer every single one. What's the
limitations that you have and how can you overcome those limitations? Write all of them down. Look at
them every single day or every single time you start to doubt yourself.
Because believe me, you will doubt yourself.
So if you have those doubts and you write down how you can overcome those limitations,
whenever those limiting fears or limiting factors or doubts or whatever it is that pops
in your head, you can read your answer of how you can overcome them.
So that's the first thing I'm going to leave you with.
And the second thing I'm going to leave you with, as always, make it your mission today
to make somebody else's day better.
I hope that you have an awesome day.
